- 1:52I can't wait to share this with you.
- 1:54Welcome everyone to Inspirations for Your Life, the
- 1:57daily motivational show.
- 1:59Who am I?
- 2:00Great question to ask, and I'm happy to
- 2:02tell you, I'm John C.
- 2:04Morley.
- 2:05I'm a serial entrepreneur.
- 2:06I'm an engineer, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast
- 2:09host, coach, passionate lifelong learner, a graduate student
- 2:14at Montclair State University, and I'm so grateful
- 2:18to now be a published author.
- 2:21Yes.
- 2:22Today's episode is part of our weekly theme,
- 2:25as I said, Answering the Call.
- 2:27And this one is called, quote unquote, You
- 2:30Were Not Meant for Average, How to Treat
- 2:34Your Life Like It Actually Matters.
- 2:38I'm going to give you 30 direct reminders
- 2:40that your life is not random, folks.
- 2:44Your time is not disposable, and you were
- 2:47never meant to just get by, as I
- 2:50like to say.
- 2:51After each line, I'm going to give you
- 2:54basically a sentence to drive it even deeper.
- 2:57So let's dive in, all right?
- 2:59Here are the 30 points.
- 3:01The first one, number one, most people aren't
- 3:05stuck.
- 3:06Because they lack talent.
- 3:09They're stuck because they forgot their life has
- 3:14a mission.
- 3:15And when you, ladies and gentlemen, when you
- 3:17remember, okay, your life has a mission, your
- 3:22choices stop being random, and they start becoming
- 3:25intentional.
- 3:28Think about that for a minute.
- 3:29Number two, you are not background character energy.
- 3:36Act like you are the main character, okay?
- 3:40In your own life, because you are.
- 3:42The moment you step into main character energy,
- 3:46you stop waiting for scenes and start creating
- 3:49them before they even appear.
- 3:51Number three, please stop asking if you are
- 3:54worthy of big dreams.
- 3:56Ask if you're willing to grow into them.
- 4:00You see, the real question isn't this.
- 4:03Do I deserve this?
- 4:05Everyone always asks that question.
- 4:06But am I willing to become the person
- 4:10this future requires?
- 4:14Different question, right?
- 4:16Number four, average is a setting on a
- 4:20washing machine.
- 4:22It's not your destiny.
- 4:24Average only becomes your identity if you keep
- 4:27acting like it's all you're allowed to have.
- 4:32And a lot of people get stuck in
- 4:34that trap.
- 4:34They don't know what they're supposed to do.
- 4:36All they know is that they can't do
- 4:38anything because of something that's going on in
- 4:40their life.
- 4:41And I think that's a problem for, I'm
- 4:44going to say, a lot of people.
- 4:46They don't necessarily understand what that means and
- 4:49why that's happening.
- 4:50They just have no idea.
- 4:52So they just put themselves into procrastination mode
- 4:55to basically doing nothing and hoping.
- 5:00Hoping doesn't get anywhere.
- 5:03Number five, your time is your life in
- 5:07disguise.
- 5:08Spend it like it actually matters.
- 5:11Every hour you give away to nonsense is
- 5:17an hour your future self never gets back.
- 5:22Number six, the version of you settling for
- 5:26less is not the final draft.
- 5:28You can decide today that this chapter is
- 5:31a rewrite, not the end of the book.
- 5:34Too many people think, oh, well, this happened,
- 5:36that happened, and my life's over.
- 5:38No.
- 5:39Number seven, guys, when you treat your life
- 5:42like it's sacred, your standards, well, they level
- 5:47up.
- 5:47You naturally stop accepting what drains you and
- 5:51start choosing what aligns with you and, of
- 5:55course, your core values.
- 5:57I think a lot of people do this
- 5:58first and they don't know what their core
- 6:00values are.
- 6:00So I want to tell you right now,
- 6:02if you don't know what your core values
- 6:03are, I invite you to figure that out
- 6:05first because you can't go anywhere without knowing
- 6:09your core values.
- 6:10That is like hands down.
- 6:12Number eight, you are allowed to stop living
- 6:15on autopilot and start living on assignment.
- 6:20The moment you stop drifting and start asking,
- 6:24what am I here to do today?
- 6:26Everything sharpens.
- 6:29It's like all your energy gets diverted into
- 6:34a different place, a different place.
- 6:39I think that's important to think about, a
- 6:48different place, a place that I feel can
- 6:51make tremendous difference for you, can make tremendous
- 6:58difference for you.
- 6:59But it has to first mean something, right?
- 7:05It has to first mean something.
- 7:07That's a big key.
- 7:09Number nine, guys, being chosen is not magic.
- 7:12It's choosing yourself daily.
- 7:14Most overnight success stories started with years of
- 7:20unseen self-selection and drudgery and challenges.
- 7:25People only see the final outcome, but they
- 7:28don't see what you are going through all
- 7:30those hours, all those days, months, and years.
- 7:35Number 10, your purpose will never feel safe
- 7:38enough to fit inside everyone else's expectations.
- 7:44If your purpose never makes anyone uncomfortable, guess
- 7:52what?
- 7:53It's probably still thinking and playing too small.
- 7:57A lot of people think that when somebody
- 8:00else knocks us down, that that's probably not
- 8:02something we're entitled to having.
- 8:04No, those people are petrified by the fact
- 8:08that you're becoming something.
- 8:09Maybe they're sitting on the bench their whole
- 8:11life, and they don't want to be you
- 8:13get ahead.
- 8:14That's sad, but it is the truth, guys.
- 8:18Number 11, the moment you decide, my life
- 8:23is not random anymore.
- 8:25That's the moment things start to shift.
- 8:28That's decision time.
- 8:31And it flips your default from whatever happens
- 8:33to, I am responsible for who and how
- 8:37I show up, not I'll just get whatever
- 8:41I get.
- 8:49I think that's an important thing that many
- 8:51people don't understand.
- 8:54They don't understand that.
- 9:00And I want to tell you that you
- 9:02can make a difference in your life, but
- 9:04you have to first believe in it.
- 9:13If you don't believe in yourself, even if
- 9:19the opportunities unfold, you're going to sabotage them
- 9:23before they even manifest.
- 9:26Number 12, stop, stop, stop waiting for a
- 9:32sign.
- 9:33You woke up today.
- 9:35Be grateful to be alive.
- 9:37That's the sign.
- 9:39If you're still breathing, life has not finished
- 9:42making use of you yet, okay?
- 9:44You've got to figure out what you can
- 9:46do with your life.
- 9:49First thing I do in the morning, I'm
- 9:50so grateful to be alive.
- 9:52So grateful to be alive.
- 9:57Number 13, every time you lower your standards,
- 10:02and people do, you teach your future self
- 10:06to expect less from you.
- 10:08Your future is built on the minimums.
- 10:12You're willing to enforce today.
- 10:15And a lot of people, I think, get
- 10:17stuck in that whole conundrum, right?
- 10:21I think that's an important thing to understand,
- 10:25is that when you program yourself that way,
- 10:30you're never going to look for anything better.
- 10:34You're never going to expect anything better because
- 10:37you don't deserve anything better.
- 10:38That's what you believe.
- 10:41That's what you believe.
- 10:43You got to change that.
- 10:45Number 14, your calling is often hiding behind
- 10:48the things you're scared to admit you want.
- 10:53That's truth, guys.
- 10:54The desire you keep downplaying might be the
- 10:59most honest thing about you.
- 11:04And I said, we got to practice getting
- 11:06comfortable, ladies and gentlemen, being uncomfortable.
- 11:09Let me say that again.
- 11:09We got to practice getting comfortable being uncomfortable.
- 11:13We have to practice getting comfortable being uncomfortable.
- 11:16That is the key, guys, okay?
- 11:21That is the key.
- 11:25And I know a lot of you are
- 11:27saying, that can't be right.
- 11:39And maybe you're going to say, well, you
- 11:40know, I'll do it later.
- 11:41I'll do it another time.
- 11:48Maybe I'll do it another time.
- 11:49Maybe, right?
- 11:52But then do you do it another time?
- 11:58Or do you just kind of wait?
- 12:03That's the question I want to ask all
- 12:05of you.
- 12:07Do you do it another time?
- 12:09Or do you just wait?
- 12:12Most of you wait, then you lose the
- 12:15energy or the enthusiasm to even do anything.
- 12:18And I think that's a problem with a
- 12:20lot of people is that they have so
- 12:22much energy bottled up that they could use.
- 12:25But because somebody, let's say, says the wrong
- 12:30thing to them or discourages them with a
- 12:33bad comment, they feel they're not worthy to
- 12:38pursue their dreams.
- 12:41And ladies and gentlemen, that is the saddest
- 12:43thing when I hear that somebody doesn't want
- 12:45to go after their dreams because someone else,
- 12:48let's say less educated, tells them that they
- 12:54can't do that.
- 12:56Who is someone else?
- 12:59How dare them to tell you that you
- 13:02can't do something?
- 13:04This is your life, not their life, all
- 13:06right?
- 13:07And I think the sooner we learn that,
- 13:09the sooner we can appreciate our lives, the
- 13:11sooner we can appreciate that we can grow
- 13:13more each day.
- 13:15Like I said, we had to practice being
- 13:16uncomfortable.
- 13:20If we can do that, then I feel
- 13:23our life will take off.
- 13:29It will take off because we have the
- 13:32potential to do it.
- 13:37And that trust, that confidence in ourselves builds
- 13:41more and more each day because of the
- 13:43dopamine.
- 13:45And it becomes this process that compounds our
- 13:53energy and the confidence that we started with.
- 13:57It was nothing.
- 14:00Number 15, you are not just here to
- 14:04consume content.
- 14:05Nope, you're here to create, to impact, to
- 14:10love.
- 14:12At some point, scrolling has to stop and
- 14:17contribution has to start.
- 14:21I'm not saying I can't follow and listen
- 14:23to content, but it's important that you understand.
- 14:32You have to understand.
- 14:36And the more you understand, I think the
- 14:37more that you can change life.
- 14:43But a lot of people don't change life
- 14:45because of what somebody said.
- 14:53Why?
- 15:03And that why is a question some people
- 15:05go their entire lives with, and they never
- 15:08have an answer.
- 15:08And here's why.
- 15:11They believe that somebody else's judgment or comment
- 15:17about them is right.
- 15:21Even somebody they just met a minute ago,
- 15:26they'll believe them more than they believe themselves.
- 15:28There's a problem with that, folks.
- 15:32You are the only ones in your life
- 15:35that have the right to make yourself feel
- 15:41inferior.
- 15:42No one else has that right.
- 15:45You don't deserve to give that right to
- 15:46anybody else.
- 15:49Number 16, if your life feels small right
- 15:53now, check your vision, not your value.
- 15:59Feeling cramped is often a sign your picture
- 16:02of what's possible hasn't caught up with who
- 16:07you are inside.
- 16:11People get discouraged because they're not where they
- 16:14want to be.
- 16:18That doesn't mean give up, guys.
- 16:20That means think about who you are and
- 16:22what's going on.
- 16:24Think about who you are and what is
- 16:27going on.
- 16:28If you think about who you are and
- 16:30what's going on, you're going to realize that
- 16:34there's a lot of potential in your life.
- 16:37There's a lot of potential in your life.
- 16:40But you can't even explore any of that
- 16:45if your belief level is at a zero.
- 16:48I'm just being honest.
- 16:52Number 17, your potential doesn't disappear just because
- 17:01you've been ignoring it.
- 17:03It waits quietly in the background until you
- 17:06finally say, okay, I'm ready to use this
- 17:10now.
- 17:13But it won't dare call you out to
- 17:17the field until you are ready.
- 17:21Until you are ready.
- 17:25That's an important thing to understand.
- 17:30You must be ready.
- 17:35You must be ready.
- 17:37When you're ready, you can grow.
- 17:42Not before that.
- 17:53When you're ready, you can grow.
- 18:04I think that's an important thing to us
- 18:09to pay attention to, to realize.
- 18:23But it comes from you.
- 18:26Number 18, a life that matters is built
- 18:30upon not delivered.
- 18:34It starts laying bricks today.
- 18:37You don't stumble into a meaningful life.
- 18:39Whoops, oh, I just fell into something great.
- 18:41No, you assemble it.
- 18:43Block by block, piece by piece.
- 18:47One deliberate decision at a time.
- 18:50Putting one deliberate foot in front of the
- 18:53other, taking deliberate steps.
- 18:56Consistently, all right?
- 18:58Every single day, consistently with structure.
- 19:03Number 19, accountability is not control.
- 19:07It's a compliment to your potential.
- 19:09The people who hold you to a higher
- 19:12standard are the ones who believe you have
- 19:16more in you than you're currently using.
- 19:20I mean, that's the most important thing.
- 19:22People that know that you have potential will
- 19:25cheer you on.
- 19:26But there are going to be some people
- 19:27that are going to try to hold you
- 19:28back.
- 19:43It's your life.
- 19:44Number 20, guys.
- 19:47The things that break your heart might be
- 19:51the exact places you're meant to build.
- 19:55What you can't stand to see stay the
- 19:59same is usually where your work will have
- 20:03the most power.
- 20:08Most people don't want to do something they
- 20:10feel they can't change, but that might be
- 20:11exactly where they need to put their energy.
- 20:16All right?
- 20:17I'm not saying it's going to be easy.
- 20:19We have to practice getting comfortable, ladies and
- 20:22gentlemen, being uncomfortable.
- 20:24That's a key.
- 20:27Ladies and gentlemen, you are all not too
- 20:30late.
- 20:32You're not too late.
- 20:34You're just finally starting to pay attention.
- 20:39The only story that truly happens, that really
- 20:44begins, is the moment you decide inside you're
- 20:51done sleepwalking through it.
- 20:53You're done accepting what life has to throw
- 20:55you.
- 20:56From this point on, you know what you
- 20:58want and you're ready to go get it.
- 21:01If that ship does not come into the
- 21:04harbor, then you go swim out and get
- 21:06it.
- 21:08Don't wait for the iron to get hot.
- 21:11Strike the iron to get it hot.
- 21:15Number 22, guys.
- 21:19I want everyone here to start treating your
- 21:24name like a signature, not a scribble.
- 21:29Attach it to work you're proud of.
- 21:32Everything you do, sign your name somewhere.
- 21:36So make sure it reads like something you
- 21:38respect.
- 21:39Your signature might not be great.
- 21:41Mine was at the beginning.
- 21:42But the more you do it, the more
- 21:45you'll develop a penmanship that's pretty amazing.
- 21:50Number 23, guys.
- 21:52We're talking about comfort again.
- 21:55Your comfort zone, unfortunately, can't hold your calling.
- 21:59I know you want to sit with that
- 22:01warm blanket or that nice air-conditioned room
- 22:04or that comfy chair, okay?
- 22:09Your comfort can't hold it.
- 22:11Something has to give either your comfort stretches
- 22:16or your calling shrinks to fit inside it.
- 22:19Now, since we're trying to grow here, we
- 22:24don't want to shrink our calling or our
- 22:27desires or our goals.
- 22:28No, no, no.
- 22:30As I said before, when you're sharing them
- 22:33and it doesn't bother anybody, it probably means
- 22:37they're not big enough.
- 22:40Number 24, guys.
- 22:43Living with purpose isn't louder.
- 22:47Now, some people may not even know you're
- 22:49here.
- 22:50It just becomes clearer.
- 22:53Purpose doesn't always shout over a megaphone.
- 22:56But it does make your yes and your
- 23:00no very specific.
- 23:08And that, I feel, ladies and gentlemen, will
- 23:11get people to recognize you because your no
- 23:13will be different.
- 23:14Your yes will be different.
- 23:16There will be no quandary over whether you
- 23:20mean yes or no.
- 23:28That's important.
- 23:34Very important.
- 23:45I think a lot of people today want
- 23:49to drive forward.
- 23:49But you know what happens?
- 23:50They get tired.
- 23:52They don't know what to do.
- 23:55And they feel that because they're so frustrated,
- 24:00they can just, well, give up.
- 24:07They can just give up.
- 24:10I feel that's a very bad thing.
- 24:14Because when you give up, you're no longer
- 24:18pursuing your goals.
- 24:19It's okay to pause.
- 24:20It's okay to break.
- 24:21But don't you dare give up.
- 24:25Number 25, guys.
- 24:28This one I want you to pay very
- 24:30particular attention to.
- 24:32You do not need everyone's approval to live
- 24:38a life you're proud of.
- 24:40You don't need everyone's approval to live a
- 24:43life you're proud of.
- 24:43You don't need everyone's approval to live a
- 24:46life you're proud of.
- 24:47Approval feels good.
- 24:51However, respect for yourself will carry you much
- 24:55further than any approval you could ever get
- 24:58from anyone.
- 25:01Respect means more than approval.
- 25:06Number 26, guys.
- 25:07The longer you go on in life and
- 25:09pretend you don't care, the heavier your real
- 25:13desires become and feel.
- 25:18And ignoring what you truly want doesn't just
- 25:21make it go away.
- 25:22You can't just shove it under a carpet.
- 25:24It just turns into restlessness and resentment the
- 25:28more you try.
- 25:31And you just keep asking, when is this
- 25:33going to be over?
- 25:33When can I stop this?
- 25:36My question is, when you start living life.
- 25:40When you start living life.
- 25:42But you may not be ready to live
- 25:44life yet.
- 25:46Maybe you just want to sit around and
- 25:49let other people tell you that you can't
- 25:51do things.
- 25:54When is it going to be enough that
- 25:57you're going to respond?
- 25:58What's going to be the tipping point?
