a pivotal achievement in restoring peace, enabling
• 0:36
  reconstruction, reshaping international diplomacy,
• 0:39
and offering hope for a more stable world order.
• 0:44

• 2:41
news, two Mexican restaurants in New England
• 2:45
were named among the best in the United States
• 2:47
by the New York Times on Wednesday. Connecticut's
• 2:51
Food Truck Paradise and Rhode Island's Tuxpan
• 2:54
Taqueria made the prestigious list. Food Truck
• 2:57
Paradise features a row of 28 food trucks on
• 3:01
long wharf drive, serving a variety of cuisines,
• 3:04
but is particularly known for its tricked -out
• 3:07
debitas, including manganadas and avocado slushies.
• 3:12
Meanwhile, Tuxpan Taqueria, which opened in December
• 3:15
2023, offers standout tacos, and its signature
• 3:19
Chicken Milanese Torta, praised as drippily seductive
• 3:24
by the times. Now on to sports. Being the number
• 3:33
one overall draft pick always brings heavy expectations.
• 3:38
However, for Fernando Mendoza, His first taste
• 3:41
of National Football League action with the Las
• 3:44
Vegas Raiders showed plenty of promise for a
• 3:46
franchise desperate to find its long -term answer
• 3:49
at quarterback. Despite the Raiders falling 27
• 3:53
-14 to the Arizona Cardinals in Thursday night's
• 3:57
preseason opener, the rookie gave fans a real
• 3:59
glimpse of the future. Mendoza finished his debut
• 4:03
completing 10 of his 16 passing attempts for
• 4:06
97 yards. He capped off a strong scoring drive
• 4:11
by firing a six -yard touchdown pass to wide
• 4:14
receiver Jack Beck. In local sports, the Red
• 4:18
Sox avoided a sweep in Toronto, blasting the
• 4:22
Blue Jays 7 -0 behind a gem from Peyton Tall,
• 4:26
who worked eight innings, allowed two hits and
• 4:29
no runs. Caleb Durbin led the offense, going
• 4:33
three for five with a homer and five our guys.
• 4:37
Boston is now 65 -56, and they open a three -game
• 4:42
set with the Pirates tonight at PNC Park with
• 4:46
Jake Bennett on the mound against Bubba Chandler.
• 4:50
Encouraging injury news, too. Garrett Crochet
• 4:53
is back to throwing, and Trevor Story is inching
• 4:57
closer to a return. Both are big boosts for a
• 5:00
team pushing for October. On the ice, the Bruins
• 5:04
made moves ahead of training camp. bringing back
• 5:06
defenseman Connor Clifton and promoting goaltender
• 5:10
Michael DiPietro. Matthew Poitras remains unsigned.
• 5:16
Camp opens September 16th, with the Bruins hosting
• 5:19
the Rangers to open the season September 29th.
• 5:24
Down in Foxborough, the Patriots tied the Colts
• 5:27
13 -13 in their preseason opener, with backup
• 5:31
Tawny DeVito leading a turnover -free night.
• 5:35
Wide receiver A .G. Brown played through a dislocated
• 5:38
thumb, and New England lost center Ben Brown
• 5:42
to injury. In top news, federal regulators have
• 5:48
launched a review of so -called mention markets
• 5:51
on prediction market sites, where bettors wager
• 5:54
millions of dollars on the word choice of prominent
• 5:56
figures, according to sources who spoke to NPR
• 5:59
anonymously. In response, Kalshi, the largest
• 6:03
prediction market in the United States, has removed
• 6:06
all mentioned markets from its offerings for
• 6:09
sports due to an inquiry by the Commodity Futures
• 6:12
Trading Commission. These markets have been taken
• 6:15
down until further notice, significantly impacting
• 6:18
Kalshi's sports betting, which accounts for over
• 6:21
80 % of its trading volume. There is growing
• 6:24
concern that betting on speech events may be
• 6:27
susceptible to manipulation. Talshi co -founder
• 6:31
Luana Lopez -Lera supports mentioned markets
• 6:34
as a way to engage more users. In business news,
• 6:40
Uber is ramping up its global rogo taxi coverage
• 6:43
with operator Pony .ai. The company's plan to
• 6:48
deploy 2 ,000 of Pony .ai's self -driving taxis
• 6:52
across Europe and expand the robo taxi partnership
• 6:56
to the Middle East. In late March, Uber and Pony
• 7:00
.ai launched a commercial robo -taxi service
• 7:03
in Croatia's capital, Zagreb, which they claim
• 7:06
is the first in Europe. The partnership will
• 7:09
roll out robo -taxis to four other European cities,
• 7:13
although specific locations and timelines were
• 7:16
not disclosed. Uber aims to become the world's
• 7:19
  leading commercialization platform for autonomous
• 7:22
vehicles, according to CEO Derek Osrochei. In
• 7:27
crypto movement, Bitcoin is down 3 % for the
• 7:31
week to about $63 ,000. Ethereum is down 2 %
• 7:36
to just under $1900. And XRP is down 2 % to $1
• 7:42
.01. Moving on to a more local vibe. In our community

• 8:22
Hingham, Brookline, and Framingham, just be sure
• 8:25
to tell them Sunny Morning sent you by. And now,
• 8:30
back to the show. Let's talk tech. Apple and
• 8:36
Epic are in dispute over how much Apple should
• 8:38
receive from purchases made outside the App Store.
• 8:42
In a recent filing, Apple proposed a structure
• 8:45
to collect fees on digital purchases via external
• 8:48
links that do not use its in -app purchase system.
• 8:52
Epic responded, stating that Apple's request
• 8:55
is far outside of the bounds of the court's guidance.
• 8:59
Currently, Apple cannot take a commission on
• 9:01
external purchases due to a ruling by California
• 9:04
District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez -Rogers.
• 9:08
However, a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals panel
• 9:11
suggested Apple could charge a commission based
• 9:13
on necessary costs. Apple's proposal includes
• 9:17
fees of 15 % for standard apps, 10 % for specific
• 9:22
partner programs, and 5 % for the small business
• 9:25
program. Epic argues that these fees exceed the
• 9:29
Ninth Circuit's guidance. And in entertainment
• 9:35
news, George R .R. Martin's new play, Game of
• 9:39
Thrones. The Mad King has officially begun its
• 9:42
run, bringing the franchise to the stage for
• 9:45
the first time. Set just one generation before
• 9:49
the original HBO series, it explores the pivotal
• 9:52
tourney at Harrenhal, a moment not deeply covered
• 9:55
in the show or books. The play resolves the mystery
• 9:59
of the Knight of the Laughing Tree, suggesting
• 10:01
it is Lianna Stark, played by Harmony Rose Bremner.
• 10:06
Although this theory excites fans, the Mad King
• 10:08
is not officially regarded as canon. Martin's
• 10:12
involvement in the production adds credibility,
• 10:15
as he praised the script, stating, Well, all
• 10:23
righty, folks. It's time for the quote of the
• 10:26
day. And today, our quote comes from the American
• 10:30
poet and civil rights activist, Maya Angelou.
• 10:34
And she said, And that's a wrap for this morning.
