- 2:04Speaker 4: these episodes will be back to back, be back to back,
- 2:07Speaker 4: but anyway, it's gonna be too short. Up but stef
- 2:08Speaker 4: at some point, So buckle up. I mean, yeah, today
- 2:17Speaker 4: on this episode, uh, Jacob the Kaiju groupie which.
- 2:23Speaker 3: He came up with that he came up with that
- 2:25Speaker 3: name to himself, y'all I did. Yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, he's obviously from the Pacific, but yeah he's.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's a groupie of the Kaijus. As he
- 2:37Speaker 4: said many many at times, and I quote, I will
- 2:41Speaker 4: have God, I would let God's tilla step on me.
- 2:43Speaker 3: End quote. Truth.
- 2:51Speaker 4: The truth is the puddings right there right there. You
- 2:55Speaker 4: said it plenty of times.
- 2:56Speaker 3: And we haven't recorded. I haven't recording.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm not gonna move out of the way.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Yes, d me in my misery. Wow wow mm hmmm wow.
- 3:11Speaker 4: But mommy Mathra, mommy speaking of mommy, we're talking about today?
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, so today we are going to actually be talking
- 3:22Speaker 1: about the novella that inspired the nineteen sixty one movie Mathra.
- 3:28Speaker 1: This is we're today, We're gonna be talking about the
- 3:30Speaker 1: Luminous Fairies and Mathra. So this is a look at that,
- 3:35Speaker 1: look at that so pretty.
- 3:36Speaker 4: It's from the same guys who translated the Godzilla story,
- 3:41Speaker 4: which actually has an audiobook. Now I don't know if
- 3:44Speaker 4: the Mathra one does yet. They probably will.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Excuse me, but I'm not sure about the audiobook. But
- 3:53Speaker 1: the luminis Fairies and Mathra was translated by Jeffrey Angels,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and it was written by Uh, excuse me, I'm excuse me.
- 4:02Speaker 1: These are Japanese names, so if I don't pronounce my right,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'm sorry. So it was written by shin Nakamura, Takeuhito Fukunaga,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and Yoshie Hotel. And so this book was pretty much
- 4:19Speaker 1: written with the sif anyone was written like for the
- 4:25Speaker 1: just for the purpose of being adapted into money, so
- 4:28Speaker 1: kind of like the novelization of Hotela and also even
- 4:31Speaker 1: Jurassic Park. Like books like Jurassic Park, the main purpose
- 4:37Speaker 1: of this book was to was just to set the
- 4:39Speaker 1: premise of the movie. So in nineteen sixty one, there
- 4:45Speaker 1: Mathra was introduced to the Greater Tuble Verse. She Mathras,
- 4:51Speaker 1: many of you may know, is a literally a giant moth.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Mathra was inspired by different myths and also like real
- 5:02Speaker 1: life create like real life animals, so like Matha was
- 5:05Speaker 1: inspired by the the silk moth, and she was inspired
- 5:12Speaker 1: and like her lore. The the lore behind her was
- 5:16Speaker 1: taken from like different like cultural and uh other and
- 5:22Speaker 1: other folklores. Uh god, I really should have I really
- 5:27Speaker 1: should have touched touched up on my knowledge. I literally
- 5:30Speaker 1: like just read this book like over a month ago.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I read a lot in the last two months.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Good for you, Good for you, for you.
- 5:43Speaker 4: It took me forever to finish Book five of Dudgeon
- 5:46Speaker 4: Carla Carl.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Oh. Yeah, book five is pretty.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Lengthy, pretty lengthy. I didn't finish it until relatively relatively recently,
- 5:59Speaker 4: and I decided, I'm I need a break before I
- 6:03Speaker 4: do group, before I do book six. But yeah, no,
- 6:09Speaker 4: my life has been Dungeon Collar Carl and but five
- 6:13Speaker 4: we'll get to eventually, because right now we're not even
- 6:15Speaker 4: we haven't even recorded at the time of this record,
- 6:17Speaker 4: we haven't even recorded for book four yet. But so
- 6:20Speaker 4: buckle up for that. Yeah no, don't no Dungeon Carler
- 6:26Speaker 4: Carls in my life.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Since yeah, excuse me, you're excuse.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Got some in my throat, I'm sure. Yeah. So, uh,
- 6:46Speaker 1: when Mathora was first, so just go over like a
- 6:48Speaker 1: little bit of just fun facts about Mathra is Mathra
- 6:53Speaker 1: was was developed. The movie Mathra was developed during a
- 6:58Speaker 1: time until I was experimenting a bunch of other Tokasaksu
- 7:01Speaker 1: style films. Tokasasu being like the type of practical effects
- 7:05Speaker 1: used in these kind of films, and they're often associated
- 7:09Speaker 1: with movies that have that depict giant monsters. So that
- 7:13Speaker 1: so pretty much like the practical effects are just dudes,
- 7:15Speaker 1: and our just dudes in rubber suits. So like Godzilla
- 7:18Speaker 1: is just a is just like an animatronic slash dude
- 7:22Speaker 1: that wears a suit. Mathra that was just a puppet. Yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 1: it was just a big ass puppet, and she's actually
- 7:32Speaker 1: the original. Mathra was actually the largest kaiju they've ever
- 7:37Speaker 1: they've ever made, like the largest they've ever depicted any
- 7:40Speaker 1: live action film, Like she dwarfed Godzilla by a.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Lot as you should actually should uh.
- 7:52Speaker 1: So, like aside from Mautha, they were they were experimenting
- 7:56Speaker 1: with other films. So like aside from Godzilla, there was Dan,
- 8:00Speaker 1: which was the giant pterodactyl bird like supersonic bird.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Uh.
- 8:05Speaker 1: There was also like they even like experimented with Frankenstein.
- 8:11Speaker 1: They've experimented with films like War the Guy Gantua, The
- 8:14Speaker 1: War of the gargantuas vera on the Unbelievable. Now if
- 8:21Speaker 1: you like me and one and have been trying to
- 8:23Speaker 1: watch a lot of these films. A lot of the
- 8:24Speaker 1: films that do get released in America were pretty good,
- 8:28Speaker 1: though some of them did get edited to be more
- 8:31Speaker 1: palatable for like the Western, like for the Western audiences.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So the original, the original Gjeta was has a Japanese
- 8:39Speaker 1: edit and an American edit. Don't watch the American edit
- 8:42Speaker 1: because it's trash. I hate that one because they literally
- 8:46Speaker 1: edit in a American journalist who's reporting on like the
- 8:51Speaker 1: whole gods affair. Right, we talked, We've talked about this
- 8:55Speaker 1: when we when we went over the Godzilla novel. All right, uh,
- 8:59Speaker 1: thankfully they did do that with Mathra. So Mathra, like
- 9:03Speaker 1: you watch whichever coffee you get DVD, Blu Ray, stream
- 9:07Speaker 1: it on it. It's completely unedited. They don't. They don't
- 9:11Speaker 1: throw in like some sort of American or like some
- 9:13Speaker 1: sort of like Western figure to make it more, to
- 9:16Speaker 1: make it more palatable for American hosts, like American audiences.
- 9:21Speaker 4: I love the Matha movie. I saw it last year
- 9:26Speaker 4: at this man's house. I'm like, I never watched Mathra
- 9:29Speaker 4: and he's like, bitch, what are you doing?
- 9:31Speaker 3: Get over here?
- 9:32Speaker 1: So I did, what do you do with your life?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Could your ass over here?
- 9:35Speaker 3: It was great? Loved it. Love.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm still like I'm telling you right now, I'm still like,
- 9:42Speaker 1: I still have the I'm still ready to pull the
- 9:44Speaker 1: trigger on the whole Godzilla marathon just to get both
- 9:47Speaker 1: this paget right here and my boyfriend to watch the
- 9:51Speaker 1: entire series with me, Like I started watching it with Alex,
- 9:54Speaker 1: my partner, and I've watched some of it with with Devin,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but we haven't finished. And I'm like, nope, we finished.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Yeah, there's some I have not watched, Like I finally
- 10:04Speaker 4: saw Biolante, saw the original, Saw the Mathra, Saw Versus Mathra.
- 10:12Speaker 1: The trilogy from the nineties.
- 10:15Speaker 3: No, I have not. Nope.
- 10:17Speaker 1: The first two were great, the third one was kind
- 10:19Speaker 1: of eh.
- 10:21Speaker 4: I've seen a good chunk of the old ones. But
- 10:24Speaker 4: then like around the Ball Biolante Era, I Have's where
- 10:27Speaker 4: I kind of stopped or having not gotten, just like
- 10:31Speaker 4: I haven't gotten to that.
- 10:33Speaker 3: What's the pollution monster?
- 10:36Speaker 1: The smog monster A smog monster.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Yes, I haven't gotten to him, even though I feel
- 10:40Speaker 4: like I will love him dearly.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I think you'd like the.
- 10:45Speaker 6: Vibe of that movie because it was very seventies like
- 10:47Speaker 6: they had a very seventies psychedelic vibe to it, And
- 10:51Speaker 6: I think that movie was the first movie that was
- 10:54Speaker 6: released in the seventies, like either late sixties or.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Seventies had that very like that vibe, because you know
- 10:59Speaker 1: how like in the late sixties, the late sixties or
- 11:01Speaker 1: least seventies, you gott they gotten to that era of
- 11:04Speaker 1: like uh oh, make love not war hippies and very psychedelic.
- 11:12Speaker 4: People are thinking or theorizing that he might be the
- 11:15Speaker 4: villain for Godzilla minus zero, right, yeah zero, the new one,
- 11:25Speaker 4: Yeah for minus zero, Yeah, my zero. People are thinking
- 11:28Speaker 4: he might be the villain for Mina zero.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I don't true.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, I'm avoiding all theories for
- 11:35Speaker 1: that movie. I want to go. I'm going in raw.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I'm not gonna I'm gonna watch the funk out of
- 11:40Speaker 1: the trailer when it comes out, but I'm going in raw.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm not making any.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Like I want Biolante bring that Queen girl.
- 11:50Speaker 1: That's too soon for Violonce is not too soon. It
- 11:53Speaker 1: is too soon for Bylance. And I'm gonna be honest
- 11:55Speaker 1: with you, They're not I don't think they're ever going
- 11:58Speaker 1: to bring back any of the original monsters from the
- 12:02Speaker 1: heyse era. So like Space Godzilla by a. LANCEE. Batra
- 12:08Speaker 1: destroy all, none of them are coming back.
- 12:11Speaker 4: I mean, Space Godzilla is gonna be in super Nova,
- 12:14Speaker 4: so get used to that.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I mean, I wouldn't doubt. I mean, I wouldn't be
- 12:18Speaker 1: surprised if he's in there. But I'm not going to
- 12:20Speaker 1: hold my breath because I've been disappointed before when I'm like, Oh,
- 12:23Speaker 1: they're gonna do it, They're gonna do it, They're gonna
- 12:25Speaker 1: do it, and I watch it and I and they
- 12:26Speaker 1: don't do it, and I'm like, well, this movie sucks.
- 12:29Speaker 4: If they don't do it, why the fuck call it
- 12:31Speaker 4: super Nova?
- 12:32Speaker 3: Anyway? Anyway, if I go down to.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Anyway Godzilla, I'm pretty sure there's gonna be like some
- 12:37Speaker 1: other Godzilla figure because they've they've they've already hinted that
- 12:40Speaker 1: there there were more than one Godzilla in the past,
- 12:42Speaker 1: so maybe there is another Godzilla. I don't think it's
- 12:45Speaker 1: Space Godzilla. If if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, But we're
- 12:49Speaker 1: not talking about Godzilla today.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Before we get back to Mathra, have you watched Legacy
- 12:55Speaker 4: Season two?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 12:59Speaker 3: Do you saying do you think Titan.
- 13:01Speaker 4: X is the precursor to Destroyer, because that's what the theory.
- 13:07Speaker 4: That's what the theory is. Because there's a little crustaceans
- 13:09Speaker 4: that she has, I guess or whatever.
- 13:12Speaker 3: There's like's.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Calibite looking things. Yeah, I don't think that they're a precursor.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I think they're her offspring because like, like one of
- 13:25Speaker 1: them jumped at Kurt Russell's character and like on the
- 13:30Speaker 1: top they look like a trolla byte kind of like
- 13:32Speaker 1: more like spiky looking trolla byte, and then on the
- 13:35Speaker 1: bottom they have tentacles like under like that shell is
- 13:38Speaker 1: hiding a bunch of tentacles and like teeth. And when
- 13:41Speaker 1: you look at them and compare them to Titan X,
- 13:43Speaker 1: it's like, oh, these are just juveniles.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:48Speaker 4: So people are speculating that she's the mother of Destroyer
- 13:51Speaker 4: or Destroyers mother. At some point, it's.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Gonna be Destroyer. I think Titan X is something new.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Well no, yeah, well, I mean Titan X is new.
- 14:00Speaker 4: I don't think she's Destroyer, but I think people are
- 14:03Speaker 4: theorizing she's the one. She's the one that gives birth
- 14:05Speaker 4: to Destroyer or the precursor to like create Destroya.
- 14:10Speaker 3: And I'm like, I.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Could see it not unless one of the little trialbites
- 14:16Speaker 1: get exposed to the leftover radiation from the oxygen oxygen destroyer,
- 14:22Speaker 1: then true, possibly, but that's all the way over. I'm like,
- 14:26Speaker 1: the that's all the way over by Mexico, and they
- 14:28Speaker 1: were what in Skull Island, which is in the Pacific Ocean.
- 14:32Speaker 3: That's fair fair, who knows, who knows?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Anyway, anyway, back to the queen, back to the queen.
- 14:40Speaker 1: But we're not talking about that queen. We're talking about
- 14:41Speaker 1: this queen period, all right. So yeah, like I was saying, Mathra,
- 14:46Speaker 1: the movie itself was produced during its time when Total
- 14:49Speaker 1: was Telescope was experiencing with a bunch of different films.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Godzilla was already at this point already a huge success.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Like I think by this point sixteen one they had
- 15:01Speaker 1: already made they had already produced King Kong Versus Godzilla,
- 15:04Speaker 1: because there was only two movies that came out in
- 15:06Speaker 1: the fifties, and that was the original Gujita and then
- 15:09Speaker 1: there was Godzilla rates again and then after that it
- 15:12Speaker 1: was King Cong Versus Godzilla. So that was the that
- 15:16Speaker 1: was the third movie produced in the Godzilla franchise. And
- 15:20Speaker 1: kind of like how kind of like what the Monster
- 15:22Speaker 1: verse King cong versus Godzilla save the Godzilla franchise, just
- 15:26Speaker 1: like okay, well all right, well cool now we know,
- 15:29Speaker 1: now we know the equation for saving the franchise. Just
- 15:32Speaker 1: throw a big monkey in there. Have Godzilla fight.
- 15:35Speaker 3: A big monkey, of course, tried and true, try and.
- 15:39Speaker 1: True, right and true. So here we go. Like it's
- 15:44Speaker 1: no secret, I'm Kong is not really my favorite. I
- 15:47Speaker 1: don't really care for King Kong, but I mean Peter
- 15:50Speaker 1: Jackson's King Kong was my all time is my all
- 15:53Speaker 1: time favorite movie. That's my all time favorite, like of
- 15:57Speaker 1: the Kong Front of the Kong franchise, like of all
- 16:00Speaker 1: the adaptations, Peter Jackson's two thousand and four adaptation was
- 16:05Speaker 1: my favorite.
- 16:05Speaker 4: It's okay, it's good, it's good.
- 16:09Speaker 3: It's I mean, I'm not I like Skull Island more.
- 16:13Speaker 1: But did you watch the extended edition?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:17Speaker 4: I was a kid, and so I mean I saw
- 16:18Speaker 4: it in theaters originally, then the extended cut. I'm pretty
- 16:21Speaker 4: sure I've seen that because we did get it on
- 16:24Speaker 4: home release when they did release, so I'm pretty sure
- 16:26Speaker 4: I have seen. It's been a hot ass minute. Yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 4: but yeah, I was there for the original one for
- 16:32Speaker 4: not the original one for the for the theater theatrical release.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and I want my Congstland was good. I like it,
- 16:39Speaker 1: and I just don't like me. I just don't think
- 16:42Speaker 1: they need to keep milking Kong.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Of course they do. No, Yes, of course of course
- 16:50Speaker 3: they do, because.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Real Gazilla fans don't want Kong. We want Godzilla. We
- 16:55Speaker 1: don't want Godzilla to be riding on cong coattails. All right,
- 17:00Speaker 1: you want pure Godzilla consent.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Girl, girl, I hate a big lizard.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Came up with a big ape.
- 17:08Speaker 3: That's it.
- 17:08Speaker 4: A big lizard at Big eight Japan and the United States.
- 17:11Speaker 4: What's the problem because America's big kaiju is King Kong.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Where are you gonna bring Zilla?
- 17:23Speaker 3: Queen? Queen? Hate all you want? Queen anyway.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I can joke about Godzilla being a big lizard,
- 17:30Speaker 1: but Zilla really is a big lizard.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Love Zilla, love her for what she is. She's not
- 17:37Speaker 4: a Godzilla, but love her for what she is.
- 17:41Speaker 1: No, Oh, you know, you're right. I will love her.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I love her for the fact. I love the fact
- 17:47Speaker 1: that to host Grope bought the rights to her and
- 17:50Speaker 1: literally just threw her in Godzilla Final Wars for the
- 17:52Speaker 1: real Godzilla to kill the fuck out of. For those
- 17:56Speaker 1: of you who have not seen the two thousand movie
- 18:00Speaker 1: Godzilla Final Wars, they live to literally bought the rights
- 18:06Speaker 1: to the to the original American version of Godzilla. They
- 18:11Speaker 1: took they well, they got the license back, right, so
- 18:14Speaker 1: and so they owned Zilla. They owned that Zilla. So
- 18:17Speaker 1: they took it, and they were like, all right, we're
- 18:19Speaker 1: gonna show you how to create a real Godzilla, and
- 18:21Speaker 1: this is what the real Godzilla does. They threw that
- 18:24Speaker 1: version of Godzilla into their Final Wars because Final Wars
- 18:28Speaker 1: was supposed to be like an end all be all,
- 18:30Speaker 1: like end of the franchise kind of deal before they
- 18:32Speaker 1: go on a ten year hiatus, and literally they they
- 18:37Speaker 1: throw Zilla in against Godzilla. Godzilla kills the fuck out
- 18:41Speaker 1: of it in like five seconds, all right, literally does
- 18:46Speaker 1: not take no effort whatsoever. They literally put Zilla in
- 18:50Speaker 1: Godzilla Final Wars for the real Godzilla to kill, and
- 18:55Speaker 1: they do it in such a disrespectful way that it's
- 18:58Speaker 1: like it was clear like they were they were giving
- 19:00Speaker 1: the middle finger to this blasphem to this like steaming,
- 19:04Speaker 1: heaping pile of blasphemy that that was the original americanized Godzilla.
- 19:10Speaker 4: But if you put Legendaries Godzilla against the regular like
- 19:12Speaker 4: Japanese Godzilla, I'm sorry, Legendaries Godzilla will own the original Godzilla.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Sorry sorry, not sorry. I think Legendary would even take
- 19:23Speaker 4: out is way better. Gareth Edwards the did he did, right, Yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 4: I think even Legendary Godzilla probably beat Minus one. I
- 19:31Speaker 4: mean he's much bigger than Minus one, but yeah, him
- 19:38Speaker 4: up though.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I'll give you that. I will give you that because
- 19:43Speaker 1: the Legendary Godzilla that they are doing a really good
- 19:46Speaker 1: job with and I love Legendary Godzilla. Godzilla King. Yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 1: so underrated and I really wish Hollywood Legendary Pictures did
- 19:58Speaker 1: not release that movie at the same time that Avengers
- 20:03Speaker 1: Infinity War came out. Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Yeah, they thought they thought they could, They thought they
- 20:09Speaker 4: could compete.
- 20:12Speaker 7: Mm hmm.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Girl, but you can hear them right now, Like, especially
- 20:17Speaker 1: at that time, Infinity Or was such a highly anticipated movie.
- 20:24Speaker 1: The Godzilla is not going to compete with that. You
- 20:27Speaker 1: should have let it. You should have released it later
- 20:29Speaker 1: in the year or before, like to.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Have its own, have its own moment.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yeah, then it would have had it would have got done,
- 20:38Speaker 1: really would have done really well, and it wouldn't have
- 20:41Speaker 1: been overshadowed by by Infinity War, but that's what they did.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So like, you know, fuck us people who love the
- 20:47Speaker 1: franchise in general, right, who just love Godzilla no as
- 20:52Speaker 1: because like as I was recently told that we Chi
- 20:56Speaker 1: fans are crazy and I've known this, but you know,
- 21:02Speaker 1: it was never something that I acknowledged. But then but
- 21:05Speaker 1: then when I was I was talking to someone recently
- 21:07Speaker 1: because there's this shop here in San Antonio called game
- 21:12Speaker 1: Over Gameover Games, and it's a little it's a little
- 21:16Speaker 1: kind of like antiquities game shop. They sell really old games.
- 21:21Speaker 1: And I went there hoping to find a copy of
- 21:24Speaker 1: this one game that teens like back in twenty fourteen.
- 21:29Speaker 1: It's called it's just called Gudzilla. It was released on
- 21:32Speaker 1: the PlayStation four, and it was like a cinema style
- 21:36Speaker 1: video game where you can play as Godzilla, but you
- 21:38Speaker 1: can also play as other monsters. It basically like the
- 21:41Speaker 1: other brawler type games that came out in the two thousands,
- 21:45Speaker 1: and it was really good. But what I didn't know
- 21:50Speaker 1: was that it was only released like it was only
- 21:52Speaker 1: on a limited release and there's currently no streaming license
- 21:58Speaker 1: for it, so you can't buy it digitally, and I
- 22:01Speaker 1: had a copy of it. And there was a time
- 22:04Speaker 1: where I didn't have a PlayStation four. I just had
- 22:06Speaker 1: an Xbox One. I just had the Xbox One, and
- 22:11Speaker 1: I kept I left it in the care of the
- 22:13Speaker 1: game and the care of my brother, and I told him, listen,
- 22:15Speaker 1: I can't play this right now since I don't have
- 22:16Speaker 1: the PlayStation four, so just keep it because I'm going
- 22:19Speaker 1: to college. And I didn't want to take it with
- 22:21Speaker 1: me and lose it, so I left it. I left
- 22:24Speaker 1: it back home and I told him, don't get rid
- 22:26Speaker 1: of it, because it's fine. And I come back from
- 22:29Speaker 1: college and I find out he got rid of it.
- 22:34Speaker 1: And I wasn't too upset at the time because I
- 22:37Speaker 1: was like, okay, whatever, I'll just get it again, right,
- 22:41Speaker 1: I'll get it again later. Well, now I wanted to
- 22:43Speaker 1: get it again because I was feeling because I'm you know,
- 22:46Speaker 1: really embracing the embracing the Godzilla. And I find out
- 22:50Speaker 1: that that game is now so rare that it's selling
- 22:54Speaker 1: for like two hundred dollars. And now, just like I
- 23:00Speaker 1: really fucking hate my brother. Now, yeah Godzilla.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Game, Yeah, piece of shit.
- 23:10Speaker 4: The games aren't even that good, but it's it's just
- 23:13Speaker 4: people wanted just to have it.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Like it did have an online uh. Like, it
- 23:19Speaker 1: did have an online cross play, but they those that
- 23:23Speaker 1: server has since been shut down so you can only
- 23:25Speaker 1: play it offline. But still it's such a valuable game
- 23:29Speaker 1: now that I'm mad that I don't have my copy anymore.
- 23:34Speaker 1: And you can play as a bunch of classic characters,
- 23:37Speaker 1: not just Godzilla, like you can play as Mathra by
- 23:39Speaker 1: Lance Destroya. You could play as mecha Godzilla and not
- 23:43Speaker 1: just like and you. And it wasn't just like the
- 23:45Speaker 1: original version of Meca Gonzila. You could play as the
- 23:47Speaker 1: nineties version, you could play as the two thousands version.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You can play as all these different versions of Godzilla
- 23:53Speaker 1: of like Godzilla's monsters, And it was a fun game.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I thought it was a fun game mainly because like
- 23:58Speaker 1: it was like you were in like the actual movie movies,
- 24:00Speaker 1: and there was a point. And they also have like
- 24:02Speaker 1: a DLC which included the legendary pictures Godzilla, which I
- 24:07Speaker 1: thought was pretty cool. Yeah, but anyway, we're not here
- 24:13Speaker 1: to talk about the regrets in the past, so let's
- 24:17Speaker 1: talk about Mathra. So, so the Luminus fies in Mathra.
- 24:24Speaker 1: It I'll be honest when I read that. When I
- 24:27Speaker 1: read this, this is a very short novel, you know,
- 24:31Speaker 1: that little short, little novella where this little bookmark is
- 24:37Speaker 1: right here. This entire first half of the book, first
- 24:43Speaker 1: little quarter of the book. This is the story itself.
- 24:47Speaker 1: So this wasn't a very detailed story. It was very
- 24:50Speaker 1: short and to the point, but it did it's its
- 24:53Speaker 1: purpose was really just to set the premise of the
- 24:56Speaker 1: of the book movie. And this las part here is
- 25:01Speaker 1: an afterward is a translators afterwards. So Jeffrey Jeffery Angels,
- 25:05Speaker 1: he translated this this series and he left a pretty
- 25:10Speaker 1: descriptive afterward about like the production, uh you know, the
- 25:14Speaker 1: cultural significance, the inspiration, and also like different things, like
- 25:20Speaker 1: there's some inspiration as it turns out, Martha got some
- 25:23Speaker 1: inspiration at least, uh in like the kind of folklore
- 25:28Speaker 1: aspects from doctor from Doctor Doolittle, so like from the
- 25:33Speaker 1: original do Little books. Yeah, those old old do Little books.
- 25:38Speaker 1: And it's actually looking at that story because the only
- 25:40Speaker 1: thing I know about Doctor Doolittle was from the Eddie
- 25:42Speaker 1: Murphy films from like from the two thousands.
- 25:47Speaker 4: That it's that's old little Do Little is actually old series.
- 25:54Speaker 1: And when wasn't it Robert Donnie Junior, who recently played
- 25:59Speaker 1: doctor do Little like that was it was a little
- 26:04Speaker 1: movie recently.
- 26:06Speaker 4: I came out back in like the twenty tens somewhere,
- 26:09Speaker 4: but yeah, I think I think it was Rob darn Junior,
- 26:11Speaker 4: who played the late that that the latest version of Dolittle.
- 26:16Speaker 1: And I wasn't interested because I'm over here. I wasn't
- 26:18Speaker 1: interested in watching watching it because I was Overadre, thinking
- 26:21Speaker 1: that it was gonna be another comedy like the Eddie
- 26:23Speaker 1: Murphy films. But no, it turns out it was based
- 26:26Speaker 1: off on the original books, and I was like, oh
- 26:28Speaker 1: that story.
- 26:30Speaker 4: I didn't know that, Yeah, no, did I Yeah? No,
- 26:32Speaker 4: the movie was pretty good. Movie was pretty good.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Yeah no, I didn't.
- 26:35Speaker 4: I didn't learn that it was an actual book series
- 26:38Speaker 4: until then too, and I was like, huh yeah, oh shit.
- 26:42Speaker 1: So now I got it, Like, okay, cool, So that's
- 26:44Speaker 1: another classic. I need to read and watch the movie.
- 26:49Speaker 1: So my it'll be on my TVR the very bottom
- 26:51Speaker 1: of the list. But so if you want so, I'm
- 26:56Speaker 1: just like, let's let's start with the movie that was
- 26:59Speaker 1: produced in nineteen sixty one. Yeah, but so God so Mathra.
- 27:06Speaker 1: So just the overall premise of the story is Mathra
- 27:09Speaker 1: is about, of course, a giant Kaiju sized moth that
- 27:14Speaker 1: ends up attacking Tokyo and an attack said another mystical
- 27:18Speaker 1: like not mystical, like a fictional fictional country. Hold on,
- 27:26Speaker 1: what's the name of the country.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Yeah, what's the name of the country that Mathra is
- 27:31Speaker 3: based in?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah? Well, it's mainly like she attacks Japan, and then
- 27:36Speaker 1: the thing is is that it was also the story
- 27:38Speaker 1: is surrounding like a trade the beginning of a trade
- 27:44Speaker 1: agreement between Japan and another country. It's a fictional country
- 27:50Speaker 1: that was made for this story. Ross Silica ras Silica.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Mathra So Japan was was in the beginnings
- 28:05Speaker 1: of it wasn't was in the very beginning of a
- 28:08Speaker 1: trade slash military alliance with a nation of rass Silica.
- 28:17Speaker 1: So Rasilica was supposed to be like some sort of
- 28:20Speaker 1: I believe it was supposed to be located somewhere in
- 28:22Speaker 1: Europe and together the two the two nations were uh,
- 28:29Speaker 1: you know, making that they were making up their trade
- 28:31Speaker 1: agreements and everything, and they had become they had so
- 28:41Speaker 1: what brings them to? So? What brought them to Mathra's home.
- 28:44Speaker 1: So Mathra comes from an island called Infant Island. It's
- 28:48Speaker 1: a small island that was somewhere like located within the
- 28:50Speaker 1: Bikini Atole. And for those of you who don't know,
- 28:55Speaker 1: the Bikini out Astole was historically used by the US
- 28:58Speaker 1: government a testing site for the early hydrogen bomb tests.
- 29:04Speaker 1: So there was so and it wasn't just the US.
- 29:06Speaker 1: There was like there was a bunch of nations testing uh,
- 29:09Speaker 1: these nuclear weapons all across the Pacific Ocean, and Infant
- 29:12Speaker 1: Island was was the site of one of these tests.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And since it since the test of end, the island
- 29:19Speaker 1: itself was uh had become a barren wasteland. It was
- 29:25Speaker 1: highly it was highly irradiated by the by the radioactive
- 29:29Speaker 1: fallout from the from the atomic bombs. And most people
- 29:34Speaker 1: believe that the island was was uninhabited and just no life,
- 29:39Speaker 1: nothing living could be there. Now, what brought the store, uh,
- 29:44Speaker 1: what brought the island to Japan's attention was a typhoon
- 29:49Speaker 1: had like gone through the Pacific and a Japanese cargo
- 29:52Speaker 1: vessel was sunk as a result. And during a rescue
- 29:56Speaker 1: operation UH, they found four survivors from the from this
- 30:01Speaker 1: cargo ship on Infant Island. And the weirdest part was
- 30:05Speaker 1: is that not only were had they survived for weeks,
- 30:10Speaker 1: but they also but they weren't suffering any effects of
- 30:13Speaker 1: radiation sickness, so like no, so no, like they're after
- 30:18Speaker 1: doing tests, there was no like like residual radiation. There
- 30:24Speaker 1: was no like radiation exposure that they can detect. They
- 30:27Speaker 1: were healthy, and the survivors brought back tales of indigenous
- 30:33Speaker 1: people on the island, like when they landed on the island,
- 30:35Speaker 1: the people found them and brought them into like some
- 30:38Speaker 1: underground area and it was there that they were given
- 30:43Speaker 1: like they were given some special like some sort of
- 30:48Speaker 1: special tea or like some weird kind of solution, and
- 30:51Speaker 1: when they drank it, they were from. What the natives
- 30:54Speaker 1: were able to articulate to them was that the radiation
- 30:57Speaker 1: sickness was gone, like the cleanse them of the radiation exposure.
- 31:03Speaker 1: So intrigued by this, the Japanese government along alongside decided
- 31:08Speaker 1: to UH organize a joint expedition to Infant Island with
- 31:14Speaker 1: UH with ambassador ambassadors from Rosilica. So they sent an
- 31:18Speaker 1: expedition to the to Infant Island. Uh STA they discovered
- 31:22Speaker 1: that there is life on the island. So it's so
- 31:25Speaker 1: there's a lot of a lot of plant life and
- 31:27Speaker 1: a lot of like other indigenous life. And uh, while exploring,
- 31:31Speaker 1: they don't immediately see the indigenous peoples there. But one
- 31:36Speaker 1: of the scientists a linguistman named doctor chu Jo u
- 31:41Speaker 1: doctor Uh doctor choose was it doctor or one? I
- 31:47Speaker 1: want to get this right. Not doctor chu Jo. No,
- 31:50Speaker 1: he's a linguist, so he's not really a doctor, but uh,
- 31:53Speaker 1: his name is Shi Shinichi chu Jo And uh he
- 32:00Speaker 1: ends up getting caught by these like carnivorous vines, and
- 32:06Speaker 1: all of the expeditionists where the uh where these like
- 32:10Speaker 1: special like panic buttons. So if they press it, it'll
- 32:13Speaker 1: send out an alarm. It'll like blare a very loud alarm,
- 32:17Speaker 1: and that'll try that'll basically call the other expedition forces
- 32:21Speaker 1: to them for rescue. So when he gets caught, he
- 32:24Speaker 1: presses his panic button. And the thing is, though when
- 32:28Speaker 1: he does that, it doesn't just attract the attention of
- 32:31Speaker 1: the expedition, but it also attracts the attention of these
- 32:35Speaker 1: two little, very tiny little women like they're about there
- 32:41Speaker 1: were these tiny little indigenous women, and they were.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Love yeah, the fairies, love.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Them the fairies or the show begin, the show begin,
- 32:52Speaker 1: as it turns out, was uh his term used for
- 32:57Speaker 1: like little beauties or like little pretties or something like that.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Uh lassie here he actually uh, the translator actually puts
- 33:11Speaker 1: a note here about the show begin because if you're
- 33:20Speaker 1: like if you are, if you could do like a
- 33:22Speaker 1: deep dive into like the into like the popular culture
- 33:27Speaker 1: that is around the franchise, most a lot of a
- 33:31Speaker 1: lot of like Godzilla fans and like authors and and
- 33:38Speaker 1: producers often refer to the fairies as the show begin.
- 33:44Speaker 1: And when I first was exposed to that term, I
- 33:47Speaker 1: didn't know what it meant. I was like, why are
- 33:49Speaker 1: they calling him showbagin? But I figured, okay, well that
- 33:51Speaker 1: must be the Japanese term used for fairies.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:55Speaker 1: And when I first hearted this was back before we
- 33:57Speaker 1: had access to things like Google translates, so I never
- 33:59Speaker 1: bothered to look up the actual translation. But the show beagin,
- 34:04Speaker 1: as I learned in this book, actually meant means something
- 34:07Speaker 1: like little beauties. Let me see here. Oh here is
- 34:19Speaker 1: the neologic. The neologism show begin used here and in
- 34:24Speaker 1: fandom to refer to The Infant Island Fairies is a
- 34:27Speaker 1: combination of the kanji meaning little show and beauty or
- 34:31Speaker 1: beautiful lady beijin so literally means like little beauty or
- 34:36Speaker 1: like little beauty or little beautiful woman or little beautiful lady.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's like I'm pretty sure that the
- 34:44Speaker 1: more accurate translation is little beauty. So I thought that
- 34:50Speaker 1: was interesting. I finally that answers a question I've been
- 34:53Speaker 1: asking myself for ages. But like, so, I actually you
- 34:58Speaker 1: actually learned a lot from this book, from the all
- 35:00Speaker 1: a story, and there's a lot more that goes into
- 35:02Speaker 1: Mathr's background, But just going over the overall story from
- 35:06Speaker 1: the movie, they encounter on Infant Island, they do encounter
- 35:10Speaker 1: the natives. Mister Chujo, the linguist, gets rescued by two
- 35:15Speaker 1: of the show Beagin. And the thing is is that
- 35:18Speaker 1: when the expedition forces see the two little the two
- 35:21Speaker 1: of showbagin the the ambassadors from Rusilica actually tried to
- 35:28Speaker 1: capture the fairies and take them and wanted to take
- 35:31Speaker 1: them back for study. But as soon as they grabbed
- 35:33Speaker 1: the fairies, immediately they're surrounded by the other indigenous population.
- 35:39Speaker 1: So like the indigenous peoples. They're just normal people, right,
- 35:43Speaker 1: but they but they they protect and they worship these
- 35:46Speaker 1: two little fairies, all right. So when they saw that
- 35:50Speaker 1: the indigenous people were becoming more aggressive, they immediately released
- 35:53Speaker 1: the fairies and they left Infant Island, deciding to just
- 35:56Speaker 1: leave the peoples alone and not and uh, maybe try
- 36:01Speaker 1: to interact with them at a later time. Well, unfortunately,
- 36:05Speaker 1: after leaving the island, the Rusilica Ambassadors come back in
- 36:09Speaker 1: a different expedition and capture those two fairies and they
- 36:12Speaker 1: bring them back to Japan and they go on this
- 36:14Speaker 1: big tour. They put them on this big tour showing
- 36:17Speaker 1: them off to the world, and it's a very like
- 36:20Speaker 1: King Kong style. There's I can you can tell there's
- 36:22Speaker 1: a bit of like a an at like an inspiration
- 36:25Speaker 1: from King Kong, because that's exactly what they did in
- 36:27Speaker 1: King Kong. They captured the big ape, they put them
- 36:30Speaker 1: on display, and it in the end, it only causes
- 36:35Speaker 1: it causes misery, it causes destruction. Yeah, but i'dlike with
- 36:39Speaker 1: King Kong who only just goes on like a rampage
- 36:41Speaker 1: in New York and he causes some damage. But when
- 36:44Speaker 1: you think about it, the damage he causes is minuscule
- 36:48Speaker 1: compared to the damage that Mathra causes. So the fairies
- 36:53Speaker 1: begin to sing. So as so the fairies uh, they
- 36:59Speaker 1: have a connection with their deity, Mathra. And what part
- 37:05Speaker 1: of the part of that connection is when they're in trouble,
- 37:07Speaker 1: they can call Mathra. And the way they call Mathra
- 37:10Speaker 1: is by singing a special song in their indigenous language.
- 37:15Speaker 1: And as they sing the song, it's heard by Mathra,
- 37:19Speaker 1: who at this point was still who was still a
- 37:22Speaker 1: larva in its egg. So Mathra wasn't hatched yet. It
- 37:26Speaker 1: was just in as big ass egg, and when it
- 37:29Speaker 1: hears the call of the fairies, it hatches and immediately
- 37:34Speaker 1: makes its way to Japan and the Japanese and the
- 37:38Speaker 1: Japanese government realizes that there's a giant caterpillar swimming across
- 37:43Speaker 1: the Pacific Ocean for Tokyo, and they try to mount
- 37:50Speaker 1: the defense against Mathra, but nothing they do can stop her.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Like surprisingly, this giant caterpillar is an excellent swimmer and
- 38:00Speaker 1: doesn't even like it doesn't active. Mather doesn't actively attack
- 38:03Speaker 1: the the Japanese forces that they send against her. She
- 38:07Speaker 1: just literally swims right through them, doesn't stop, just goes
- 38:10Speaker 1: right through them. None of their weapons work on her.
- 38:13Speaker 1: She eventually makes landfall and starts uh and starts carfect
- 38:17Speaker 1: a path of destruction, making a bee line straight forward.
- 38:19Speaker 1: The fairies. Now the scientists. Now some scientists in in
- 38:26Speaker 1: the story. They figured out that that somehow the fairies
- 38:31Speaker 1: are calling to Mathra and they make a special box
- 38:34Speaker 1: mad out of a material that's that's designed to block
- 38:37Speaker 1: certain types of brain waves and sound waves. So because
- 38:41Speaker 1: they figured that they must be telepathically calling to Mather,
- 38:44Speaker 1: not just like calling to her vocally, but telepathically. So
- 38:49Speaker 1: when they put the fairies on this box, the signals
- 38:51Speaker 1: cut off and Matha can zone in on where the
- 38:54Speaker 1: fairies are starts frolling on a bit of a rampage
- 38:58Speaker 1: trying to find her, and eventually the fairies are taken
- 39:03Speaker 1: by the Ruscilla by the rus Silicon ambassadors back to
- 39:07Speaker 1: the Silica, and Mathra, even though she can't sense exactly
- 39:11Speaker 1: she now can't sense exactly where the fairies are, she
- 39:14Speaker 1: can still sense them, and she realizes that they're now
- 39:18Speaker 1: getting further away from her. So Mathra instead goes and
- 39:23Speaker 1: goes straight up to the Tokyo Tower. So Tokyo Tower
- 39:27Speaker 1: is kind of like the Eiffel Tower. It's kind of
- 39:29Speaker 1: general like shaped roughly like the Eiffel Tower, except it
- 39:32Speaker 1: has a more modern design kind of called the Eiffel Tower.
- 39:36Speaker 1: It's kind of like a skeletal structure. You can look
- 39:39Speaker 1: it up. Don't go off, don't go based off of
- 39:42Speaker 1: my description. It's literally it's just a it's just a
- 39:46Speaker 1: tower where with no real purpose other than just architecture
- 39:50Speaker 1: and engineering.
- 39:52Speaker 3: Hold up a second, and I have to get my child.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, So Matra now, not realizing that the fairies
- 40:02Speaker 1: are getting further away from her, she needs to be
- 40:04Speaker 1: able to uh Mantha then goes to it, makes her
- 40:09Speaker 1: way to Tokyo Tower, and she spins herself into a cocoon. Now,
- 40:16Speaker 1: after she's full of cocoons, the Japanese military try decide
- 40:20Speaker 1: they need to destroy try to detroit destroy her right
- 40:23Speaker 1: now while she's vulnerable, and they use these special uh
- 40:27Speaker 1: like atomic heat rays to incinerate the cocoon and they
- 40:32Speaker 1: managed to like they managed to burn like the outer
- 40:35Speaker 1: webbing away, but all that's left is like peanut shaped gourd,
- 40:41Speaker 1: and they think that Martha is dead because they're all
- 40:43Speaker 1: like no, nothing could have survived that all that heat
- 40:45Speaker 1: and energy, Well, Mathra ends up popping out of the
- 40:51Speaker 1: out of the cocoon and spreads her beautiful wings.
- 40:55Speaker 3: The bitch thought just like.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Flutters away. Uh yeah, So Mathra pops out, spreads her wings,
- 41:08Speaker 1: and takes flight. And the thing is Matha's wings are
- 41:11Speaker 1: so massive and so powerful that with each beat of
- 41:16Speaker 1: the wing, she creates these gale force these like typhoon
- 41:19Speaker 1: level winds, and so as she's flying by, she's literally
- 41:22Speaker 1: like just destroying everything in her path. And she's just
- 41:28Speaker 1: like my bad m like. So, Matha ends up making
- 41:36Speaker 1: her way from Japan to Rausilica. When she gets to Usilica,
- 41:38Speaker 1: the Russillan government tries to shoot her down, but nothing
- 41:43Speaker 1: they throw at her as doing any has any effect
- 41:45Speaker 1: on her.
- 41:46Speaker 3: No shit.
- 41:48Speaker 1: And she senses that the Shobajin are nearby, but she
- 41:51Speaker 1: can't find them, so she goes on. So she kind
- 41:55Speaker 1: of goes goes wild and she's flying around the city.
- 41:59Speaker 1: You know, her wing the wind from her wings are
- 42:02Speaker 1: are leveling buildings. They're uh, they're just destroying everything. Chu
- 42:09Speaker 1: Jo and a few of chu Jo and his friends,
- 42:12Speaker 1: they managed to get the fairies back from Masilica and Uh.
- 42:15Speaker 1: They realized they need to get her. They need to
- 42:17Speaker 1: get Mathra into a safe place away from the city,
- 42:20Speaker 1: into a place where she can safely land and pick
- 42:23Speaker 1: up the showbagin So, they realized that Mathra, the reason
- 42:28Speaker 1: why Mathra seems to be drawn to certain parts of
- 42:30Speaker 1: the city was because of these church bells that began ringing.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And they realized that Mathra maybe it's attracted to the
- 42:38Speaker 1: church bells because they sound like the fairies singing. So
- 42:42Speaker 1: they've come up with an idea. They get the Russell
- 42:46Speaker 1: and government to paint this symbol on the runway of
- 42:51Speaker 1: one of the of one of the nearby airports. And
- 42:54Speaker 1: this symbol was was a symbol that was found on
- 42:57Speaker 1: like a stelle or like is kind of like Rosetta
- 43:01Speaker 1: stone style like monolith in on Infant Islands, because there
- 43:06Speaker 1: was one symbol that appeared multiple times. It looks like
- 43:10Speaker 1: a cross and it has like radiating lines coming out
- 43:14Speaker 1: of it, and they realized this might this symbol might
- 43:18Speaker 1: also attract Mathros. So they paint the symbol into the runway.
- 43:21Speaker 1: They have, uh, they have churches all over the city
- 43:24Speaker 1: and begin ringing their bells and it draws Mathra to it,
- 43:27Speaker 1: and she leads and they give the fairies back to Mathra,
- 43:30Speaker 1: and then from their Mathra flies back to Infant Island,
- 43:32Speaker 1: and you know, everyone knows happy ever happily ever after,
- 43:36Speaker 1: And the plot of the book for the most part
- 43:40Speaker 1: go uh for the most part, the exact same way.
- 43:44Speaker 1: You know, the fairies are kidnapped by the by Russillican
- 43:47Speaker 1: ambassadors and Mathra. They end up calling Mathra, who goes
- 43:52Speaker 1: on a rampage and until until eventually cocoons itself and
- 43:55Speaker 1: becomes a giant moth and then just goes on even
- 44:00Speaker 1: further rampage, manages to rescue the fairies and goes back home. Well,
- 44:06Speaker 1: as it turns out in the original story, Mathra, as
- 44:10Speaker 1: it turns out, there's a there's actually an origin story
- 44:13Speaker 1: for Mafra. It wasn't she wasn't just some She wasn't
- 44:16Speaker 1: just some egg like mysterious egg like monster that was
- 44:20Speaker 1: like fibernating in its egg for like like an untold
- 44:24Speaker 1: amount of years. But Chuojo actually went back to the
- 44:30Speaker 1: island to interact with and study the indigenous people, and
- 44:35Speaker 1: he learned a lot from them, so like, aside from
- 44:39Speaker 1: aside from that. One of the other major differences from
- 44:42Speaker 1: the book in the movie was that there were actually
- 44:45Speaker 1: four shokujin. Now, if you're a She fan like me,
- 44:50Speaker 1: and you've seen all the movies with Mathra, like even
- 44:52Speaker 1: movies like where She crosses over with Godzilla or the
- 44:56Speaker 1: God or the Mathra trilogy from the nineties, Mathra always
- 45:00Speaker 1: it was always, always had two fairies. There was always
- 45:04Speaker 1: these two fairies that would interact with Mathra and would
- 45:07Speaker 1: call her in times of need. But in the book,
- 45:11Speaker 1: the original story, there were four. There were originally four fairies,
- 45:16Speaker 1: and so the origin of the fairies in Mathra is
- 45:20Speaker 1: it turns out that that in their in the the
- 45:24Speaker 1: Indigenous people's mythology, there was a creation myth there were
- 45:28Speaker 1: two gods of creation, and like one gave birth to
- 45:33Speaker 1: the other and they became a mated pair, and one's
- 45:38Speaker 1: supposed to represent They're both supposed to be gods of light,
- 45:41Speaker 1: but one is representing like the light of the day,
- 45:43Speaker 1: and the other one's the light of the night, so
- 45:45Speaker 1: like the stars and the moon and the sun, and
- 45:47Speaker 1: then the other is the sun. And they end up
- 45:51Speaker 1: having like a they end up giving birth to multiple children,
- 45:55Speaker 1: like one of them gave birth to all the animals
- 45:57Speaker 1: and the planet other gave birth to all the like
- 45:59Speaker 1: plant life. And then like they're combined, and I guess
- 46:03Speaker 1: like from their coupling, like humanity came also was birthed
- 46:07Speaker 1: from them, and then Mathra was also birthed from their union.
- 46:11Speaker 1: But the thing is one Mathra was born. Mathra was
- 46:15Speaker 1: born in an egg. Like they just laid the egg.
- 46:18Speaker 1: They just laid the egg, and the myth was is
- 46:20Speaker 1: that the egg was never never hatched. This luminous egg
- 46:25Speaker 1: never hatched. And eventually the two gods become ended up
- 46:31Speaker 1: contending with each other because one became jealous of the
- 46:33Speaker 1: other's creation and wanted to destroy everything, so the other
- 46:37Speaker 1: retaliated and killed and they two of them ended up
- 46:39Speaker 1: killing each other. And when they died, they left behind
- 46:44Speaker 1: for the four fairies. So the fairies are also the
- 46:47Speaker 1: children of these two creator gods, and they were left
- 46:51Speaker 1: Their purpose was to watch over the egg and to
- 46:58Speaker 1: walk over with the luminous egg, and they do that
- 47:00Speaker 1: for the like for a long long time. And then
- 47:05Speaker 1: eventually the expedition comes to Infant Island and the and
- 47:09Speaker 1: all four of the fairies end up getting kidnapped by
- 47:12Speaker 1: the russ Silica embassy. So when they get kidnapped and
- 47:18Speaker 1: they're taken and they're taken to Japan, the indigenous peoples
- 47:22Speaker 1: began to perform a ritual before the egg. They start singing,
- 47:25Speaker 1: dancing and there, and they're crying out to Mathra, their god,
- 47:30Speaker 1: who's been uh, you know, who's been dwelling who's been
- 47:33Speaker 1: buying dormant in this egg for like pretty much since
- 47:36Speaker 1: the beginning of time, and uh, the fair the four
- 47:40Speaker 1: Fairies began while they're being paraded throughout Japan. They begin
- 47:44Speaker 1: singing their song and Mathra hatches. So Mathra herself is
- 47:50Speaker 1: basically I'm not sure if they if god is the
- 47:54Speaker 1: right term, something like more like a demigod because there
- 47:58Speaker 1: is like some sort of mystical app there is some
- 48:00Speaker 1: sort of mystical aspect to Mathra. But yeah, Mathra hatches,
- 48:04Speaker 1: goes Japan, rescues the fairies, and comes back. And what
- 48:07Speaker 1: the think funny thing is is that when Matha brings
- 48:09Speaker 1: the fairies back to Infant Island, she doesn't stay on
- 48:12Speaker 1: Infant Island with them. She ends up flying into space.
- 48:15Speaker 1: And this is where like this is that sixties like
- 48:19Speaker 1: this is that sixties science fiction for you? Because when
- 48:22Speaker 1: she flies out of the space, astronomers actually track her
- 48:26Speaker 1: as she's leaving the as she's leaving, as she's leaving
- 48:30Speaker 1: the Solar System, and they actually see her leave the
- 48:32Speaker 1: galaxy and enter like another universe. And shit, I was like, okay,
- 48:37Speaker 1: I see why they cut that part out, so it
- 48:40Speaker 1: was interesting. I was like, okay, so there was originally
- 48:43Speaker 1: supposed to be for Shobajen. Mathra really is a goddess
- 48:46Speaker 1: because a lot of the time Mathra is depicted as
- 48:49Speaker 1: this as a goddess figure a savior.
- 48:52Speaker 4: Yeah, that much has like a savior godly the opposite
- 48:57Speaker 4: of Godzilla yea.
- 49:00Speaker 3: And instruction. Yeah.
- 49:03Speaker 1: And she does have like abilities when she when she
- 49:06Speaker 1: transformed into her adult into her adult form like her
- 49:11Speaker 1: I mean like yeah, her wings create really powerful gusts
- 49:14Speaker 1: of wind and her and she also does like shed
- 49:20Speaker 1: her skills as she flies. It's like because when the
- 49:23Speaker 1: Japanese government was attacking Mathra was trying to attack Mathra,
- 49:28Speaker 1: one of the ways that one of the ways that
- 49:32Speaker 1: she would defend herself was like she would release those
- 49:34Speaker 1: scales and they would create like a barrier around her
- 49:36Speaker 1: and nothing could hurt her.
- 49:40Speaker 3: I actually kind of liked that a lot. She flew
- 49:43Speaker 3: off in the space somewhere.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Dig that that.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I dig that.
- 49:49Speaker 3: It gives.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it would also explain why in the in the
- 49:57Speaker 1: Heysai era, when Mathra, after Matha for a batter fight
- 50:00Speaker 1: gods a lot of math ends up flying into space
- 50:02Speaker 1: to destroy an asteroid that was gonna just hit Earth.
- 50:08Speaker 1: It's like, well, you know, that explains it, because as
- 50:10Speaker 1: turns out, Mafra really can fly into outer space. So okay, I.
- 50:17Speaker 4: Mean goes to show that Mathra is not something to
- 50:22Speaker 4: fuck around with. Other Dnitans might think that she's just
- 50:25Speaker 4: weak as hell and ooh you got for the little
- 50:28Speaker 4: wings on show. Suck you up, or she'll heal, or
- 50:32Speaker 4: she'll heal the ship out of you. Make me stronger
- 50:35Speaker 4: than before akaa legendary.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Yeah. The original Mathra was supposed to have some like
- 50:41Speaker 1: solve abilities, but in the movies, like especially like when
- 50:45Speaker 1: she fights Godzilla, her power does get nerved and they're like, okay.
- 50:50Speaker 1: So in the in the original show era movies, Mafra
- 50:56Speaker 1: appears multiple times so like hours aside from her original
- 51:01Speaker 1: her original movie, she she first fights Godzilla in Godzilla
- 51:05Speaker 1: versus Mathra, and she dies, but she had already she
- 51:08Speaker 1: had laid an egg and her two caterpillar come out
- 51:10Speaker 1: and they uh and they fight Godzilla and they win.
- 51:15Speaker 1: But the thing is is that like there was supposed
- 51:19Speaker 1: to be two caterpillars that hatch from that egg, and
- 51:21Speaker 1: then later on in the in the series, you see
- 51:25Speaker 1: only one caterpillar pillar left. And if you watch, like
- 51:29Speaker 1: if you were like me who watched the heavily edited
- 51:33Speaker 1: American like the American edits of these movies, the English
- 51:38Speaker 1: transit translation of one of the following movies that comes
- 51:42Speaker 1: after Godzilla versus Mathra, they don't really mention what happens
- 51:46Speaker 1: to the other, to the other larva right to the other,
- 51:50Speaker 1: to the other matha caterpillar. There's only one LUNs and
- 51:54Speaker 1: it and the the movies that come after it, they
- 51:57Speaker 1: are cannon to the last, so like what happened to
- 51:59Speaker 1: their canon to each other. So whatever happens in one
- 52:01Speaker 1: movie like it carries over into the next. And it
- 52:06Speaker 1: wasn't until I bought the Collector's edition, the blue ray
- 52:10Speaker 1: Collector's edition of all of the show era and I
- 52:14Speaker 1: rewatched those movies in Gidora, the three headed monster. The
- 52:20Speaker 1: fairies had were in Japan on a diplomatic mission and
- 52:24Speaker 1: they were having like a Q and A with some kids,
- 52:27Speaker 1: and one kid asks the fairies, like, what happened to
- 52:30Speaker 1: the two Larva Like they mentioned like one mathroat Mathrea
- 52:34Speaker 1: is still alive, and they're like, wait, what happened to
- 52:36Speaker 1: the other one, And they were like, oh, they died. Oh,
- 52:39Speaker 1: it died, just like okay, So if you watch these movies,
- 52:46Speaker 1: make sure to watch them in the original Japanese dub
- 52:50Speaker 1: because you'll actually see like get more of the story.
- 52:53Speaker 1: You'll see what happened, and there won't be any like
- 52:56Speaker 1: the English dub won't cut shit out. Do you want
- 53:01Speaker 1: to experience that? Like that? That infuriates me because that
- 53:04Speaker 1: infuriates me because like there's more to the story. But
- 53:06Speaker 1: like when they get when they got brought here to America,
- 53:09Speaker 1: we're over here, like oh, like we don't want our
- 53:13Speaker 1: kids to know that one of them, Mathra Larva died,
- 53:15Speaker 1: so we're just gonna like edit that part out and yeah, yeah, Mathra. Next,
- 53:24Speaker 1: like Mathra is like the most popular monster, one of
- 53:28Speaker 1: God's one of the most popular monsters in the Godzilla franchise,
- 53:33Speaker 1: so she came out in God's Deli Versus Mathra, she
- 53:37Speaker 1: came out and goodor the Three Headed Monster she later
- 53:40Speaker 1: comes out and Godzilla Versus the Sea Monster or Godsi
- 53:44Speaker 1: Versus Abira. Of the titles of some of these Gods
- 53:47Speaker 1: Little movies get changed multiple times, so they maybe they
- 53:50Speaker 1: may have been released under like different titles throughout the decades.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Then she Mathra also appeared in Destroy All Moms, and
- 54:01Speaker 1: I think Deshroyl Monsters was probably the last time we
- 54:04Speaker 1: see Mathra. The thing is is that it goes back
- 54:07Speaker 1: and forth between the adult Mathra and the larva Mathra,
- 54:12Speaker 1: so we only see the adult Mathra at some total
- 54:15Speaker 1: of like three times in the entire Total Friend Original
- 54:19Speaker 1: Total franchise from the Shoa era. So like in her
- 54:22Speaker 1: original standalone film and Godzilla Versus Mathra, and then in
- 54:25Speaker 1: Godzilla Versus the Sea Monster, like she's an adult, like
- 54:30Speaker 1: we have we can we get a good look at
- 54:32Speaker 1: her at her adult form, But then in the rest
- 54:34Speaker 1: of the franchise, whenever she does appear again, she's just
- 54:37Speaker 1: a caterpillar. And I later learned that it was because
- 54:41Speaker 1: of production. Like there it was expensive having this big
- 54:43Speaker 1: animatronic butterfly flying around. So it was easier having the
- 54:48Speaker 1: larva than having the adult animatronic, especially like when it
- 54:52Speaker 1: came to like filming the films with Godora, because Godora
- 54:55Speaker 1: was the probably the biggest animatronic they had to work with.
- 54:58Speaker 1: You know, you had this, you did have to have
- 55:01Speaker 1: they did have to have a person walking around in
- 55:03Speaker 1: the suit, but then it was also a puppet because
- 55:06Speaker 1: it had the wings and it had three different heads,
- 55:08Speaker 1: so they had to like they had to be able
- 55:12Speaker 1: to control the three have three heads, make the mouths
- 55:14Speaker 1: open all right, So having that on top of having
- 55:20Speaker 1: another like puppet, like just purely puppet monster. Because when
- 55:26Speaker 1: because Godora fought also Rodin as well in two of
- 55:29Speaker 1: those films, and Rodan was Rodan was also a hybrid
- 55:33Speaker 1: of a puppet and a person in a suit. Like
- 55:36Speaker 1: they would go between scenes between where Rodan was actually
- 55:39Speaker 1: flying and that was where it was the actual puppet,
- 55:41Speaker 1: and then when Rodan was on the ground, it was
- 55:43Speaker 1: a person in a suit.
- 55:46Speaker 4: As much as I love Mathra Queen Icon legend, my
- 55:50Speaker 4: favorite version of Mathra is still the legendary.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Love love her stag Huh yeah, I had the one I.
- 56:04Speaker 4: Gave you originally, and then Johnny got me one that
- 56:08Speaker 4: was that was flocked, so that had like a texture
- 56:10Speaker 4: on it, a fuzzy little texture on it. So that's
- 56:12Speaker 4: why I gave you. That's why I gave you the
- 56:13Speaker 4: other one. Because I had two of these. I wanted
- 56:16Speaker 4: to keep the fuzzy one. But yeah, now I prefer
- 56:21Speaker 4: the legendary one.
- 56:22Speaker 3: The design.
- 56:23Speaker 4: Granted, I do love the design of the fluffy the
- 56:26Speaker 4: more fluffy.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Yeah, the fluffy. The fluffy Masra is from the Heyse era.
- 56:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I like the era, but I love the legendary
- 56:36Speaker 4: lah Chef's kiss bitch up.
- 56:41Speaker 1: My favorite is the Hayse Mathra because the Heyse Mathra
- 56:45Speaker 1: is the most powerful and because like the show on,
- 56:50Speaker 1: Mathra doesn't have any other abilities besides like creating like
- 56:54Speaker 1: gale force winds with her wings and occasionally using her
- 56:58Speaker 1: scales as an offense of attack. But her scale, her
- 57:01Speaker 1: wing scales, she does that she dies because like she
- 57:04Speaker 1: loses the ability to fly, and she only does that
- 57:06Speaker 1: if she knows she's about to die. And I personally
- 57:09Speaker 1: did not. I didn't like that she was supposed to
- 57:11Speaker 1: Matha was supposed to be this like deity like Kaiju
- 57:16Speaker 1: and the idea of her just like okay, well she throws,
- 57:19Speaker 1: she uses her scales and then she dies.
- 57:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the only one that comes close to
- 57:24Speaker 4: the deity aesthetic is the legendary.
- 57:26Speaker 1: One, the legendary one. No, the legendary one. It's it's
- 57:32Speaker 1: definitely closer to like the original novel novel. Yeah, but
- 57:37Speaker 1: it's I don't think it comes near the deity the
- 57:40Speaker 1: deity level. The Heysay Mathra is the one that comes
- 57:44Speaker 1: to the daity level because she doesn't just use her
- 57:46Speaker 1: scales like she can use her scales for offense and defense,
- 57:49Speaker 1: and the scales actually are able to diffuse Godzilla's attacks,
- 57:53Speaker 1: like whenever he shoots his atomic breath at her, For
- 57:55Speaker 1: scales are like uh are, if she's releasing her scales,
- 57:59Speaker 1: they actually will use and reflect his his atomic breath
- 58:03Speaker 1: back at him. And beyond that, she can also generate
- 58:06Speaker 1: like powerful like electrical attacks and even shoot light She
- 58:10Speaker 1: could even shoot lightning from her antenna, so she actually
- 58:15Speaker 1: had a lot more offensive power and she could take
- 58:17Speaker 1: a hit like Godzilla got in some really good licks
- 58:20Speaker 1: on her and she was able to like fly away
- 58:22Speaker 1: from it like it probably hurt, but it probably hurt
- 58:25Speaker 1: like a bitch, but she was still she actually could
- 58:27Speaker 1: take a hit. So like Heyse, Mathra was the one
- 58:30Speaker 1: that definitely was like more unkillable, more powerful, and like
- 58:36Speaker 1: more godlike, whereas like the legendary Mathra is very luminous,
- 58:43Speaker 1: I'll say that, and she does have those like she
- 58:46Speaker 1: does have some offensive abilities. But like I like Legendary Mathra,
- 58:50Speaker 1: I really do. I just don't. I don't like the
- 58:52Speaker 1: style of her wings.
- 58:55Speaker 3: That's the best part love it.
- 58:57Speaker 1: You know that I don't like how the wings are.
- 59:00Speaker 1: The wings to me like they like with Mathra. Her
- 59:03Speaker 1: wings have always been broad, right, They've always been these
- 59:06Speaker 1: broad like sweeping uh like sweeping, like majestic looking wings,
- 59:12Speaker 1: Whereas Legendary Mathra her wings kind of remind me of
- 59:17Speaker 1: a different type of bug, you know, Like she has Chasse's.
- 59:22Speaker 1: I mean they're chass very long, like like watchers. If
- 59:27Speaker 1: you want like watchers, just google. If you google Legendary Mathra,
- 59:31Speaker 1: you'll see what I'm talking about. She has these very
- 59:33Speaker 1: long and narrow wings. But if you look at if
- 59:36Speaker 1: you like google the original Mathra, like google like Heyse
- 59:41Speaker 1: Mathra or original Shoa Mathra. And you'll see what I'm
- 59:44Speaker 1: talking about that those versions of Mathra have these really
- 59:47Speaker 1: broad and like sweeping wings right like you look them.
- 59:51Speaker 1: They're very majestic and uh like the legendary Mathra. I'll
- 59:56Speaker 1: give her, I'll give it to her. She's very like
- 59:58Speaker 1: maneuverable and she's fast. But like it. I didn't really
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: like her wing. I don't like the style of her
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: wings set off that much.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: I mean that's I think that's why she's so durable
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: and like fast, because her wings are a lot thinner
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: nicas plump.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: But I mean I love I mean, I'm sorry, I love.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: Her design and in freaking legendary.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: And she see and she took out she took on.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: I mean, granted she got sucked up, but she took
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: on freaking took out Rodin.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: And then I think she got because like she was
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: actually whoop in Rodin's ass and she was.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Using Rodane's ass that stinger of a shoot.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I like I like the overall design on Mofera.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I like the body, like the style of her body,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: the way they make her look like a cross between
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: a like a moth, a praying mantis, yeah, a wasp
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: because because she has like these four like sci fe
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: like uh sielike claws, and then so that's the mansest part.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: And then she's kind of fluffy around her face, so
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: you get the little bit of fluff from Mathra. And
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: then uh so that's like the moth aspect. And then
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: of course you got this wicked ass stinger that she
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: that she throwed Dan with. When she did that, I
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: was like, oh.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Oh, oh, she said fuck you.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: She really did. But I think Matha the reason why
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: she got so fucked up was because his lightning blasts,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: that like sweeping lightning blast that he did, and uh,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: she probably got hit in the cross She got hit
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: in the crossfire, and she took she took her hit.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: But then she got then she died. Died obviously because
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: of the next one.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Which basically she's basically the Jean Gray of the of
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: the Godzilla franchise period. Because period Jean Gray is always dying,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: but she's always resurrecting herself. Matha is the same way.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: But Mathra's resurrection is usually like in the form of like, uh,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: some form of parthenogenesis. So she leaves like she leaves,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: there's usually an egg like she'll have laid an egg
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: and then if the adult dies, the egg usually hatches in.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Oh look another Mathra and like, yeah, Mathuras had like
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: multiple different appearances, like she only appeared like twice in
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: the Heysay series. One in like the actual film that
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: she was a part of, and another was when she
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: was fighting when uh, when Godzilla fought space Godzilla.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: And yeah, so godzillivers moth Godzilla Mathra the battle for
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Earth and then god Delivers face Godzilla. We don't actually
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: see Mathra have play a big role, but the showbagin
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: end up sending like a like a messenger Mafra back
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: to Earth like a little tiny fairy like fair Mathra,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: and it warns the psychic Mickey Segusa that there's a
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: space monster heading for Earth and it was space Gudzilla,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: and so like yeah, and it's like so yeah, anyway,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: we we like we noticed that there's a space monster
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: hitting your way, but we still got to deal with
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: the asteroids. So just you know, just a heads up,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: just so you know. And then Mathra got her own
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: standalone trilogy, uh so we which is called The Rebirth
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: of Mathra. So the Rebirth of Mathra, uh, there we got.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: It's it's its own trilogy. It's stand alone from the
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Can I Help You? Can I Help you? We are
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: joined with the Shellard.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: We yes, we are interrupted, but we interrupt this program
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: to bring you Shelley the Cowardly Dog.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Yeah, she's like, you're not paying attention to me.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: She probably needs to go outside. You gotta go party. Yeah,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: layer out.
- 1:04:16Speaker 8: And ohay, all right, be going with you? Hy Okay,
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: what whatles done? I'll let you off for probably breaking
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: a minute.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: What we'll do is we'll we'll when we when we
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: finish this episode, we'll just record this episode to day
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: next week we'll start We'll probably I'll we'll start at
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: nine thirty. I'll record mine and then we'll go into
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: Dodge Carlo Carl, but we'll start earlier. So yeah, we'll finish,
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: finish this and we'll just end it here anyway.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Okay, anyway, So anyway, so there's a rebirth of math
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: for a series, So rebirth of my off for one.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: It has like the more traditional looking mathra but she
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: laid an egg and I guess because she laid an
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: egg that weakened her and the world gets threatened. By
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: another kaiju called Deskadora or death Caadora. I've always heard
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: it as Deskadora, even if you watch the English stub,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: they call it Deskidora, which deaths in Japanese is that's
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: one of their words for death. So Deskadora, death Gadora,
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: same shit. I usually call him Deskidora. Desk Youdora just
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: looks like a quadrupedal version of Kingidora, but except he
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: has u. Instead of being covered in gold scales, he's
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: covered in bony like black and red bony plates. When
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Deskidora first emerges, uh, he doesn't have wings. He doesn't
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: really have wings. He has these like fans on his back,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: and he's very powerful. His powers are not like lightning
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: like Cadora, but more like fire. It's like he's shooting
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: like like really intense blasts of plasma. And the thing
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: is desk Youdora, liking Door was a space monster who
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: came to Earth feet on the planet and uh and
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: he ends up getting sealed away by an ancient mathra
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: and and show beigin a pair of showbagin and uh.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: So for like millions of years, desk Youdora had been
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: imprisoned and until like uh until like some comp until
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: like some uh like developing developer companies, uh, while like
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: clearing away some forests. They come across the seal stone
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: and uh in introduced. The movie introduces a third show, Beigin,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: and so like you have the two the traditional two
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: who uh work with Mathra, who work with Mafra. But
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: there's a third one who was also working with Mathra
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: at one point but ends up uh ends up turning
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: bad and tries to and is to try to start
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: begins to try to destroy the world. Mainly, her goal
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: is to like destroy humanity because humanity is like it's
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: supposed like many movies in the Godzilla and Mathra franchise,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: it's about environment It's it's environmentalism. It's about how humanity
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: is over expanding, over developing, deforestation is like big thing, uh,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: nuclear power, pollution, all that stuff. Right. So Belvira, this
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: is the they, the Schovigen all have their own name,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Moule and Lona. I think that's the name of the
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: two that work with Mathra. And then there's Belvira, who
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: is the who's supposed to be the evil fairy. She
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: flies around on this little bat like creature.
- 1:07:48Speaker 9: And and uh while the two while the two chogen
- 1:07:53Speaker 9: fly around on a fairy size Mathra, they usually fly
- 1:07:57Speaker 9: around on a fairy size Mathra.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: And then yeah, it's so cute. It's cute but when
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: uh but Balvia manages to uh manages to find and
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: seal a special like seal, and this seal allows her
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: to release Deskadora, and Deskadora starts attack, starts destroying the countryside.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: The fairies end up calling Mathra and Mathra fights desk Youdora.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: But thing is, she was weakened from giving birth to
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: her offspring. She just laid an egg and also Matha.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: This Matha is supposed to be pretty old, so pretty
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: sure like the Rebirth of Mathras series was supposed to
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: be like a direct canon to the original Mathra movie
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: and uh so the thing is, Deskadora ends up whooping
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Mathra's ass and when Mathra was like practically was almost defeated,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: her egg ends up hatching and the larva comes to
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: her aid and they managed to fight back Deskadora, but
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: they end up having too but they also have to
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: flee and Mathra carries her larva back out to the
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: sea but she ends up she ends up drowning because
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: she can't fly away, so her body like sinks into
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: the ocean, and the larva ends up going back to
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Infant Island where it concoons itself. And when it emerges,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: it's a new form of Mathra, so it doesn't have
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: like the same designs as the original Mathra of this
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: one has Yeah, Mathri leo. He has a more sleek
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: body build and his wings are more like triangular shape
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: instead of these like if you look at it, it
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: kind of looks like the legendary Mathra's wings you think
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: about it, because the legendary Mathra doesn't have like like
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: its wings are narrower and it has like its support
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: the two support wings that like the two secondary wings
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: are more wedge shaped instead of like round. So so
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: mathraa leo when it hat when it emerges, it's really powerful.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: It has new abilities that the old Matha didn't have.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: So like one of these abilities is it can like
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: uh divide it. It can transform itself into a swarm
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: of smaller mathras Yeah that can attack and do a
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: lot of damage. It can uh it has a wider
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: range of electrical attacks from its wings and on its
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: forehead it has like.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: A series.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Oh witch, shut damn. When she jumped off, she scratched
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: the fucking on my leg. Watch quiet, very strong words
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: from my dog, like I swear to god. It's like
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: every time she sees another dog, she's just like she's
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: got instant beef with that guy, Like the fuck are you?
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: What do you do out my card? Look out here? Anyway? Remember,
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: so Matherleia was more powerful and it was strong enough
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: to defeat Deskadora, and they were. But the thing is
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: they didn't kill Deskidora. They end up resealing it and
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: that's the end of that one. Rebertha Mathra two it's
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: the same Mathra. This Mathra doesn't end up laying It
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: doesn't like lay another egg. It just flies into the
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: scene and it's fighting another monster called de Garla, and
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: things is like de Garla was a creature like a
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: guard like a formerly like some sort of guardian spirit
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: of this ancient civilization of Neelike and I and uh
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Belvira comes in again. She's trying. What she's trying to
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: do is can get a hold of something called the
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Treasure of Neelike and I, which will allow her to
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: like destroy the world and shit, and she uses this
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: that she uses the fact that de Garla it had
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: become corrupted to help like gain access to Kneelik and I.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Thing is that like the city like itself was like
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: this ancient temple looking structure that was hidden underneath the
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: sea off the coast of Japan. And the thing is
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: the city itself has like a barrier around it, and
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Degarla can't get anywhere near it. But it's getting more
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: powerful and every time it attacks, it's wearing down its defenses,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: and the fairies call in Mathra she fights de Garla.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: The thing is, Degarla has other abilities that uh like,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: it's a very it's very parasitic like, so every time
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: it attacks, it releases these like spores that infect and corrupt.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: So Mathra Leo ends up taking a lot of damage
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: and almost dies when fighting de Garla uh and she
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: ends up having to like she ends up taking refuge
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: on the temple island and its barrier protects her and
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: keeps Degarla away from her. Uh And eventually, like the
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: the main characters managed to get a hold of the
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: treasure neilik and I, which is this little creature called Gorgo.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: This a little ugly looking creature named Gorgo, and Gargo
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: ends up like fusing with Mathra and it trans it's
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: transforms this Mathra into rainbow, from mathri Leo into rainbow Mathra.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: So manthra Leo had like green and orange patterns on
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: her wings with more like lightning shape designs. Well, the
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: lightning designs stay in the shape of the wings stay
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: the same, but then uh, mathri Leo, the colors on
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: her wings on his wings ended up transforming from just
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: the green and black and orange to like blues, purples, reds,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: greens like it's a rainbow pattern that radiates all across
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: the wings and so it was pretty cool. Matha rainbow
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Manthraam was pretty cool uh because with their new abilities,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: she gets like a special barrier around her. So whenever
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: de Garlic came and attacks her with its uh like
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: breath attacks, her barrier would reflect the attacks back at
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: him and she also gains this one. This movie was
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: pretty campy because Mathra gets uh gets the ability to
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: transform into and like a sea form of herself, so
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: like uh like uh water like water kind of looks
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: like a weird flying fish kind of cross between a
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: flying fish in a bugird like two. Look up Rebertha
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Mathra two and you'll and you'll see the versions of
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Mathra like you know, you'll see Mathri Leo, You'll see
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Rainbow Mathra, and you'll see water Mathra.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: Oh oh yeah, yeah, she does look like a freaking
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: fish with a flying fish.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Yeah. So Mathra ends up defeating Rainbow Manthra ends up
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: defeating de Garla, and de Garla's spirit is returned to
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: the temple and the temple ends up like collapsing back
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: onto the ocean. So that's REBIRTHA pretty much the premise
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: of rebirtha Manthar two. We're Bertha. Mathra three was the
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: worst of the three because the budget for it was
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: way like it was not It was not the same
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: like Bertha Mathra one and two had Godzilla level budgets
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: for the Heysa air like when like watch any movie
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: from the Hesea era and you'll know what I'm talking about.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: But Bertha Mathra three had like it looked like it
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: like it's they had stepped back to like something like
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: the kind of budget you would see in the Shoa era.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: The practical effects were pretty cheap, and the monster she
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: ends up fighting is Kingidora, of course, and Kingdora ends
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: up whooping her ass pretty hard, and Mathra ends up
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: going like they they figure out that the best way
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: to defeat math to defeat Godora isn't in the present,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: but in the past, because in the past, Kingidora had
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: come to Earth and had tried to and had tried
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: to like consume the like all the life on Earth,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: but ancient Mafras had ended up defeating Godora and driving
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: it off, like driving it away from the planet. So
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: like back then, they believe that if they can kill
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: it back then, it would when it's weaker, they'd be
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: able to defeat it in the present. And so Mathra
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: ends up like like going light speed and going back
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: into the past. And uh, she fights Cretaceous Gedora because
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: there's two versions of the Cadora. There's grand Kingidora and
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: then there's Cretaceous Cadora, which looks like a more bony
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: plated like prehistoric version of Kingidora. And Matha ends up winning,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: but like it was a very hard fight. And while
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: she ends up killing King Cretaceous Cadora, she basically is like, uh,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: she's Matha is pretty much dead at that point. Her
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: wings are shredded, She's taken a lot of damage. But
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: the funny thing is is that the ancient there were
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: other ancient Mathra we only see like these, like uh
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: cretaceous style like Mafra caterpillars, and they end up they
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: end up wrapping present Mafra in a cocoon and and uh.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Back back to going back to the future, we see
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Kingidora disappear and like everyone was thinking, okay, cool, we
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: defeated him, but then out of nowhere, Kingidora the Grand
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: the present day King Youdora ends up perching up out
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: of the ground and they're like, whoa wait, did Mathra fail?
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: What happened? Uh? So during the fight when Mathra was
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: fighting cretaceous Godora, uh, one of his tails gets severed
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: and falls to the ground, and it ends up burying
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: itself into uh underneath the ground, and then over the
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: next like several million years uh, it regenerated itself and evolved,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: so it ends up coming back again as Grand King Adora.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: So like a Godora the golden scale, like really like
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: this Gidora looks pretty cool if you look up for
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Bertha Mathra three Grand Kingidora. This Gidora looks more like
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: something out of like uh like Japanese myth uh. It
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: has very like it has like very bright golden scales,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: and it has like antlers for horn burns.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: So little fry I see yeah.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so this was pretty, uh well it was pretty.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: But when this when the second king you Doora shows
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: up again, Mathra ends up exploding out of a mountain.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: So like when Mathra was wrapped in the was wrapped
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: in its cocoon, it ends up going into hibernation for
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: like millions of years, and when it emerges in present day,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: its body had mutated, so now it's covered in armored plates,
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: like like metal armored plates, and when its wings spread,
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: it has these like razor sharp wing sharp wings. It's
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: the style of armored Mathras wings is kind of like
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: a luna moths, so as it's like sweeping swallowtail like
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: trails from its support wings as like more angular looking wings.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: And excuse me. So armored Mathra ends up fighting Grand Kingidora,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: and because of her armor, nothing that Godora throws throws
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: her can hurt her, and her wings are so sharp
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: that they end up cutting through Godora's wings like cutting
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: in the shreds, and Mathra ends up killing the fuck
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: out of Godora, and at the end of the fight,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Mathra's armor like disappears and we are left with eternal Mathra.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: So eternal Mathra is fuzzy, has like fuzzy fur on
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: her body, and her wings have the same color. It's
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: just that they lose like the armor plating. So it's like, okay, cool,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Well Mathra has now basically turned into a more like
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: eternal goddess like goddess form of herself. Yeah, so I
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: will say, like the Mathra series, the standalone Mathra series
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: was pretty campy, so don't take it seriously for what
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: it is. It's pretty good. At least the first two
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: were pretty good. The third one the weakest one, which
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: is probably why that series ended up dying, because it
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: just didn't have the same production. It did not have
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: the same pret the same budget as the first two,
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: and so Mathra. We don't see Mathra again until the
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Millennium series. So the Millennium series is from nineteen ninety
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: eight to two thousand and four, or yeah, two thousand
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: and four, because Godzilla two thousand came out in nineteen
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: ninety Excuse Me nineteen ninety nine, and the next time
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: we see Mathra is in this standalone Godzilla film called
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: at Least in America. It was released under the title
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Godzilla and Mathra of the Battle Excuse Me, Godzilla, Mathroa
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: and King Gidora, Giant monsters all that attack because it
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: was a really it's a weird title, but it had Godzilla.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: It introduces ghost Godzilla, which this version of Godzilla supposed
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: to be like a spirit, and he's like basically the
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: spirits of all of the dead Japanese word world War two. Yep,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: so all the soldiers have died in the pack during
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: World War Two. This Godzilla was supposed to be like
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: their collective spirits combined together into this creature of hate.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: And the thing is, it's cannon to the original Godzilla film,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: so like Godzilla, so Gogira nineteen fifty four, like there
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: was an original Godzilla and then all, look, there's this
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: new Godzilla. But somehow this Godzilla is like the spirit,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: like contains all the anger and all like the spirits
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: of the dead Japanese Japanese soldiers from World War two.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: And the thing is as he begins attacking uh Japan.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: There's this like old Geezer like kind of shamans like
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: shamanistic style guy. He begins to awaken the spirit like
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: Guardian Spirits of Japan. So it's Varron, Mathra and Kingidora.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: So like Kingidora like keeps getting changed, like original Kingidora
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: was an alien, and then Heyse, Goadora was like a
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: mutant created by like future like people from the future,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: and then get or the Millennium series is a spirit
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: like a Guardian Spirit of Japan. But yeah, it kind
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: of weird how they keep changing Gudora style. But Mathra
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: we see her again here and then we won't see
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Mathra like immediately after this. It's the Millennium Series, I
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: will say, was more of an anthology series. It wasn't
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: like the Heyse Orshoa era, which was like full of
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: movies that were canon to each other that all like
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: went in like a row. It was like Godzilla two
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: thousand and then okay, cool, and then Godzilla versus Mega
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Mega Giris, which was the giant dragonfly creature, and then
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: they decided, okay, well we're gonna retcon the story and
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: then that's when we get Godzilla, Mathara and King Gudora
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: and h Then they were like, ah, we didn't really
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: like the direction of this movie, so we're gonna reccon
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: it again, and we get Godzilla against Mega Godzilla and
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Godzilla against Mega Godzilla is the third iteration of U
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: has the third iteration of Mecha Godzilla, and so you
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: know that one is just like we that's the one
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: we get cure you, which is the more like which
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: is my favorite version of Meca Godzillah. He's very streamlined
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: he and he actually has got a Godzilla tail. He
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: doesn't have like this little stub like the other two had.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: And uh, that one was actually really popular. So they
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: end up making a sequel to it called Godzilla Tokyo
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: so Os, and it's in that one that we get
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: reintroduced to Mathra. So kind of like how in Godzilla
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Matha and Kingadora Godzilla against Meca Godzilla and Godzilla Tokyo
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: so Os they're canon to the original Godzilla movie, but
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: like the original Godzilla gets killed. Fifty years later, new
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Godzilla appears.
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: And basically like choose your own adventure, choose time you
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: want to you want to watch.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: YEP pretty much and you don't think about the Millennium series.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: You don't have to watch them in any specific order. Honestly,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: I usually watch them in like order of when they
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: came out, and Godzilla against Mega Godzilla, Godzilla Tokyo Sos
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: are like sequel there they are together, they're sequels to
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: each other, and like Mega Godzilla, and that one is
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: made from the bones of the original Godzilla, so they
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: use the bones of the original Godzilla as like the
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: inner framework, and then they just build the machine, the
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: cyborg around him. So this one's a cyborg. And uh
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: in Tokyo so Os, it's Mathra shows up. The Faeries
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: actually show up because the original Mafra film was canon
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: to this as well. And even all those other all
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: those others standalone monster films I mentioned earlier in the episode,
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: like War of the Gargantua's Mathra Rodan, those were all
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: so like this film kind of like ties them all
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: together because the Prime Minister of Japan notes in this
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: movie that like got like Japan seems to be the
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: victim of a lot of Kaiju attacks, like you know,
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: Godzilla Mathra and then Guy and then Guira and Sanda
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: from the War of Gargantuas and and like that was meant.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: Those monsters were mentioned in Godzilla Versus and godzill against
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Mega Godzilla and then Tokyo so Wes the Faeries show
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: up and they bring a warning to the Japanese government,
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: telling them that Mathra does not approve of them using
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: the bones of Godzilla to make a war machine. They
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: think that that's a violation of nature. And you know,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: basically what they did was effectively resurrect a dead monster
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: like they're playing god.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: At that point you stop or I'm gonna pull up.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: And the Japanese government was like they took it seriously
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: because they because they remember when Mathara attacked Originally they're like,
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: uh yeah, we're not gonna work.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: We don't want that smoke.
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: And also the thing is is that Kryu was very
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Kiri is the code name they used for Mega for
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: this version of Mega Godzilla, Uh yeah, or I always
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: get the pronunciation is weird because if you watch the movies,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: they it sounds like they're saying they're saying key you,
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: like key you, but the way it's spelled is k
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I r y u. So it's tech like if you
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: look at that, it's technically cure you like here You.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: The name is based off of like a like like
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: a name comes from like a myth, a mythical beast
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: from Japanese folklore. So it's like, uh so, I'm like
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: I don't know what the proper pronunciation is. I usually
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: just say cure you, here you, yeah yeah, or mecha gods. Anyway.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: They thing is about about Kreu is that he here
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: you is unstable and is prone to uh going on
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: ramp pages because the technology they like, the programming and
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: the computer and uh software that they used to operate
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: here you is based off of like a special kind
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: of like biological computer where it basically uses the DNA
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: of the creature that it's that they are whose remains
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: are using to make the machine. It's basically using that
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: deep that creature's own DNA to function. So like even
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: though they built a machine around the creature's remains, like
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: the skeletal remains, it's DNA is what's bringing it back
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: to life. So it acts like an actual like its
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: original like what it was in life, and they use
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: that same technology to make cure you. But the thing
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: is it's bringing up the original Godzia. It's wakening the
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: original Godzilla and that and Godzill against Meca. Godzilla, Currie
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: would go on a rampage when on like a rampage
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: several times, and you know, Japanese government in Tokyo Sos
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: was like, yeah, we don't want to deal with that,
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: so we'll will stop. We'll take this seriously. So they
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: shove care you for the time being. But then Godzilla
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: attacks and the Shovigen actually promised that if Godzilla attacks again,
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: then Mathra will come to their aid instead, and she does,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: Like Godzilla attacks, they so of the thing is that
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: kid like this kid ends up like drawing, like using
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: like some desks from his school to make that symbol
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: that attracted Mathra in the original film, and Mathra shows
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: up and ends up fighting Godzilla. The thing is Matha
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: is old and she's also on she's actually dying, so
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: she like she attacks Godzilla, but think is because of
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: how old and weakened she's become, she wasn't able to
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: fight him very well, and she ends up getting She
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: ends up getting her ass whooped. But before she came,
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: she actually laid an egg and the egg hatches, and
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: oh what do you know, it's it's a repeat of
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: the original Godzilla Versus Mathra or Mathra laid an egg
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: and the egg hatches into two caterpillars, and the two
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: caterpillars come to Japan and they help their mother fight Godzilla.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: Thing is, Godzilla ends up try like ends up shooting
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: his atomic breath at the larva, and Mathra flies up
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: and like blocks the attack, but ends up getting incinerated
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: in the process. So the two larva end up going
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: on a bit of a rampage themselves. They go into
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: a frenzy and they they end up trapping Godzilla like
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: they one of them bite Gudzila's tail, which is a
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: callback to like the original fight with the larva and Godzilla,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: because and that's happened several other times in the franchise.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: So like in the original Godzilla Versus Mathra, after the
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: adult Mathra dies, the two larva come out and they
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: fight Godzilla and one of them ends up biting the
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: tip of his tail, And it was just this comedic
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: scene of like Godzilla freaking out like like oh my god,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: oh my god. It's like tails like flying over where,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: like leaving all over the place, and you see this
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: little you see this big ass caterpillar biting the end
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: of his tail, like just clutching, like hanging on to
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: the end of his tail for dear life. And then
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: in Godzilla and Mathra the Battle for Earth the heyse
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: Arab Mathra movie, h Mathra Larva does the same thing,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: like she fight, she hatches and fights Godzilla immediately, and
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: she ends up like sneaking around Godzilla, like going underwater,
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: sinks around Godzilla and bites the end of his tail,
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: and you see Godzilla just freaking out like like in
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: his tail's flailing all over the place, and Matha's just
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: hanging off for Tila dear light. And then now we
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: get this one here in Millennium era, Mathra chomps on
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: his tail and Godzilla's like ah. But the ending of
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: this one is different because the Japanese government ends up
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: sending in Kureu to help Mathra, and kure You towards
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: the end ends up going on a rampage again, but
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: this time I think like cure you because it is
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: the original. It has the consciousness of the original Godzilla,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: but because it's hooked up to a computer, the original
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: Godzilla is able to see all that, like access all
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: the information. So I guess it became intelligent and it
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: and it understood that it's dead and it just wants
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: to It just wants to be stated, Yeah, exactly, it
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: wants to. It wants to rest in peace. And uh
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: it ends up like uh, it ends up shaking the
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: control of the of the of the of g force,
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: goes up to Godzilla, grabs him and flies off into
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: the ocean. Godzilla at that point had been like beaten
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: to this, like had been exhausted to the point that
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: the larva were able to the Mathra larva were able
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: to wrap him in cocoon. So Mecca Godzilla just grabs
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: the Godzilla cocoon and flies off into the ocean, and
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: like that's the end of that story. The next time
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: we see Mathra is in Godzilla Final Wars and we
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: see the adult Mathra. Thank god, it's not going to
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: be a repeat of Destroyal Monsters where it's just the larva. Uh.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: Let me let me tell you guys something. Godzilla Final
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: Wars it was a phenomenal movie. It was campy, but
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: it had it was such a callback because it's like
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: like in the first five minutes of the film, like
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: we see an epic fight between Godzilla and this uh
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: and this special like battleship flying battleship the Japanese government
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: created called the Gotango. It was based off of another
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: movie called The Astragon and that and so like you
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: have the Atragon fighting Godzilla, the Atregon ends up burying
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Godzilla and Ice and you just get this montage of
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: like clips from all of the Godzilla movies, like from
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: the Showa era, Heyse Millennial, and then like you know,
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: you get the title itself, Godzilla Final Wars. Like ooh,
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: I had chills. I was when I first watched that
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: movie as a kid, my gay ass was living. Okay,
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: this was in two thousand and five. When I first
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: watched this movie. It came out in two thousand. It
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: was released in Japan in two thousand and four and
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: was not released in the United States until like the
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: following year. So when I finally got it, I got
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: it as a Christmas gift. When I got it, I screamed,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: like when I wrapped in my present. I screamed. I
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: literally screamed because I was I was following this shit online.
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: I knew Final Wars was happening all right. I was
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: on the official gods a Little website and like I
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: was looking at all the concept designs. I was living,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: all right, I remember, I was just like I was
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: obsessed with this movie. I was like I was seeing
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: all the redesign for the ink, for the old monsters
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: like Manda Mathra, seeing the redesigns for monsters like Guy Gan,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: and like all these different monsters here and I'm living.
- 1:33:42Speaker 9: I'm like, oh, like.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Like macarrony, what the chu? And when I finally watched
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: this movie, I was here, like.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: Little Jacob was living.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: I was living little like ten, like eleven year old
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: me was.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: Living, living, thriving.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: And and like Mathra shows up, fights Guy again, dies,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: comes back, Fightsky again again, dies, but takes Guy again with.
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: Her period period period period, like.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: She's gonna die, She's gonna take She's gonna take a
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: pa with me.
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: Uh huh oh god.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: That movie is. It's pure camp. But it was phenomenal.
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: And the reason why they released that movie was because
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: they Toho decided that they needed to take a break
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: from the franchise they'd been going for at that point
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: almost thirty like almost twenty years, because like going twenty
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: years straight with the franchise, and while the Heysea era
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: did very well. When they decided to like revamp it
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: for the Millennium era, they were they were trying different
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: directions and nothing was sticking. So they decided, all right,
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna take it. We're gonna end it
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: like end the franchise here with Final Wars, and we're
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: gonna take a ten year break. And they already announced
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: back then, like back in two thousand and four, they
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: already sold the rights to Hollywood. Yeah, and Legendary Pictures
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: had gotten the licenses. The thing is is that they
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: wanted the stipulation was they had to wait a full
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: ten years before they released the next film. So Legendary
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Pictures was not going to release their They weren't gonna
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: start producing their film until the ten year anniversary, until
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: the sixtieth anniversary of Godzilla, and twenty twelve comes along.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: I find out that they're starting the production on Godzilla.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, Yes, I've been waiting eight
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: years for this. I've been waiting for eight years of this,
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: And then finally they announced Gareth Edwards Godzilla. They released
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: that original, that original movie and the original Gareth Edwards movie,
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: and I was like, yes, yes, yes. I was basically
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: that SpongeBob meme where he's in this audience.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: He's like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah me.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: And when finally they had the release date announced and
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: they were selling tickets in twenty fourteen, like for May
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: twenty fourteen, I bought the tickets and there's this there
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: was this theater that used to be here in San
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: Antonio called Alma Draft House. There's still like two here,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: but there was like four back then. And the one
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: location I loved going to at the time that one
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: always sells out if there's a if there's a blockbuster,
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: that one will always sell out. And I knew it
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: was gonna sell out for Godzilla, so I went early
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: and I managed to get three of the last five
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: tickets for myself and my brother and my mom. I
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: was like, we're seeing this, We're seeing this, all right,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: you're not coming then, I'm gonna give you a ticket
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: away to somebody else, But god damn it, I'm seeing
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: this movie. And like, I wasn't the only crazy Godzilla
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: fan in that theater. There were so many different Godzilla
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: fans in there, and we were wild. We were we
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: were acting up, we were we were acting up in
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: that theater. Like when Godzilla first shows up in the
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: airport scene against against the Muto, everyone cheer. We were
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: all like, yeah, whoah, we went We were nuts, all right,
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: we went nuts. And like someone was like someone actually
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: was like, man, why are you getting so like, like
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: so obsessed with this movie. It's just Godzilla. It's like
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: just Godzilla. Like, bitch, I've been waiting for ten years
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: for this fucking movie. Ten years.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: I'm not kidding.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: I was waiting, literally waiting ten years for that movie,
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: all right, I was. But the I was but a
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: boy when I when I saw the last movie in
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: the franchise.
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: Ladies and Gentlemen.
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: This faggot loves Godzilla, obsessed with Godzilla. I love that
- 1:37:54Speaker 4: he's obsessed with Godzilla.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: Exhibit A. I don't know if he could see them
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: and exhibit uh E through Z.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I know.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: My vetroom's a mess, But I love Godzilla. That movie.
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: Like Gareth Edwards, Godzilla was for me, the most highly
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: anticipated movie of my life. I still love it. It
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: was a good movie. Like the only complaints I had
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: was that he had they He gave Godzilla these stubby
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: little feet, and he also gave him that and that
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: he gave him that blow torch of atomic breath. And
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: but then when I I went back and I read
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: up like the like the behind the scenes stuff and like, uh,
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: the like inspiration for the movies. And when Garrett Gareth
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: Edwards when he got the when he got the movie,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: when he was given the the movie to direct, they
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: when he was chosen to direct the movie, he actually
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: went out and bought the entire like the whole franchise,
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: like went out and bought all the Godzilla movies and
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: he binged them. He did his research and basically what
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: he had done was he had based this movie off
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: of the Shoa era version of Godzilla. And I was like,
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: that makes so much more sense now because when you
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: look at it right, people were like, oh, Godzilla didn't
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: We're complaining, like you didn't get enough screen time. It
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: was moving about Godzilla, but you only had like eight
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: minutes of screen time. Like have you not watched any
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: of Godzilla movie ever? That's literally every other Godzilla film,
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: all right.
- 1:39:33Speaker 10: You got like you get a little bit of Godzilla
- 1:39:35Speaker 10: in the middle, in the in the beginning, you got
- 1:39:38Speaker 10: a lot of exposition and a lot of like character development,
- 1:39:41Speaker 10: get like a little bit more in the middle, and
- 1:39:43Speaker 10: then you got the climax at the end. It's literally
- 1:39:46Speaker 10: every Godzilla movie ever, but literally he was based off.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: This version was based off. That version was based off
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: of the Showa era Godzilla. That's why he got a
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: more like flamethrower style atomic breath instead of that like
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: pure like jet of flame that Godzilla uses in like
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: the Heysay and the Millennium series. And you could see
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: it as the film's progressed too. So like after Gareth
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: Edwards Godzilla, we get who was the director of the
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: of King of the Monsters. Was it Michael Doughty or
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: is it Dorsy or Daughtry.
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: I think it's Doughtry. Hold up King of Monster twenty nineteen.
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: That was Michael Daughtry.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Michael Daughtry. So when we get Michael Daughtry's version,
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: you could definitely see that Michael Daughtry's version was based
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: off of the Haysaver era of Godzilla because his like,
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: they kept the stubby feet and I the stubby feet.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: I'll accept, I'll have to.
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: Get I love our stubby boy.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: Yeah, they're basically as a.
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: Fellow stubby, stubby legged person myself. Stan.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you.
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: Don't got to agree like that. You don't have to
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: agree that quickly.
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: Anyway. God but yeah, this Godzilla was definitely more based
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: off the heyse Era because he had a more Instead
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: instead of his atomic breath being a flame like this
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: little jet of a flamethrower, it was more of like
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: a freaking blast of energy, like an actual blast of energy.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: You have King Adora, who was this like powerhouse monster,
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: which a lot of the monsters in the heyse Era,
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: like the heyse Era monsters, were the beefiest monsters you
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: would get. They all had, they all had some sort
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: of special ability by lance could uh could literally break
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: herself down into like this like spoor like powder that
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: can like fly up into the atmosphere and reform herself
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: back down into her form into her like main form.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: She can, she can hyper regenerate, she can spew like
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: radioactive sap as a defense mechanism. King Youdora of course
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: had his has always had his lightning or gravity beans,
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: like I'm not sure if they were actually gravity beans
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: or lightning, but in micro and Michael Michael Daughtry's uh
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: King King of the Monsters, it's just lightning, and they
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: he even gives Godora the ability to uh change the atmosphere,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: to charge the atmosphere and create powerful hurricane like storms.
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: Makes sense, makes sense?
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Rodan, like they gave they made Rodan into maybe
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: not so much as like a supersonic bird like he
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: originally was, but he was extremely fast. He was able
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: to catch up to.
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: Because he's basically a walking volcano.
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: Yeah, he was a firebird like that's that is uh,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: that's canon because like the original Rodan, uh live would
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: like nest around a volcano because it needed that heat volcano.
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah. And then the thing is, though the
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: original Rodan could fly at supersonic speeds, and I don't
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: think this version of Rodin could. I mean when he
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: flapped his wings he could create like these powerful sonic blasts,
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: but I think it was more based off of like
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: diving speed. So like he got so good. So Rodan
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: was able to build up a lot of speed because
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: he would just dive pure yeah. Yeah, and he was
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: able to keep up with like F thirty five's and
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: this in the Argo, which all fly at like prop
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: like speeds exceeding like six hundred miles per hour.
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: I love that like smoke and ash and shit would
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: come off his wings as he's flying. I'm like, oh,
- 1:43:41Speaker 4: I love that sthenic.
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you had Mathra who had her illuminous
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: abilities like yeah, and also they get Mathra like the
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: ability to spit web, which I'm not a big fan
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: of but is just realistically doesn't make sense.
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: But whatever a singer, I know, he neither does the
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: stinger and she has this howers a resurrect taiju.
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: He wouldn't with. Yeah, that's something that definitely came from
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: the heyse Era because like Mathra died, like not just Mathra,
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: but like in the heyse Era, Rodin the Heyes Rodin
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: ends up dying and transfers his energy into Godzilla, which
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: is not which is a phenomenon that's happened before. So
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: it's a phenomenon that's happened before. And Mathra in the
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: Millennium series and in Godzilla Matha and King Doora dies
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: and transfers her life energy into Kingydora. So that's something
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: that's happened before. But yeah, Mathra, like we get this
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: version of Mathra and like that's definitely the Haysa. This
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: is this was screaming, heyse level powerhousing, all right, or
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: a farming and then we get King Kong, Godzilivers's Kong
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: and god Dilivers's Kong was definitely millennial style, the millennium
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: style Godzilla, because he's still a powerhouse, he still has
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: his atomic breath, is even has become even stronger, and
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: like the millennial Godzilla, like when any monster he fought,
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: it was never really much of a struggle for him.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: So when he fights, like when he fights Kong, it's
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: not much of it's there's not much effort. It's clear
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: Godzilla is the winner. Yeah, all right out like the
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: original King Kong versus Godzilla where Kong comes out as
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: a victor, which which I think is bullshit, but there's okay.
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: So I'm not sure there's a rumor that set out
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: there that there's two versions of the original King Cong
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: versus Godzilla, and like in the American version, King Kong wins,
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: but in the Japanese version, Godzilla wins. But I've never
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: been able to like actually track that down or verify
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: that because even in the core and the collection that
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: I have when I rewatched it, it's still King Kong
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: still came out on top. So it's like, okay, well,
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: I'm not sure if that happened in both the American
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: and American edit and the Japanese edit or what. But uh, still,
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: I love that god Zilverskung Kong loses, but like, and
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: Godzilla fights Mecha Godzilla, and I love how Mecca Godzilla
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: is very similar to curry you to cure you, but
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: the same different at the same time, he's different because.
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: The of King Cadora.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: Yeah, they use Candora's skull instead of Godzilla's and still
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: of Godzilla's skull, and it would it makes a lot
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: of sense that this version of Meca Godzilla goes on
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: a rampage because like, oh, well, they end up charging
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: it with the same energy that Godzilla uses and oh hey,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: guess what that wakes up Cadora.
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: Of course it does, because people never learn, humans ever learned,
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: never learn. You're like, oh, we have the remains of Kingdora.
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: Let's make something out of that, because that's not good,
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: that's gonna and well, yeah.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Effort m hm. And I'm pretty sure if Meca Godzilla
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: had been allowed to live long enough, I'm pretty sure
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: King Odora would have ended up regenerating to the point
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: where he like fully like just sheds the Mecca Godzilla
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: suit and just comes out of Gidora again when passion. Yeah,
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: and now we got Evault Godzilla and Godzilla and cong
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: new Empire. And that's just screaming Raywa because purple the
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: violet atomic breath. Now that's that's Shin Godzilla.
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: I love Shin Godzilla. I wish I got shinned Mathra,
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: though I would love to see what sh ma.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: Well, you know, the Shin Godzilla series may not have
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: taken off, but but clearly minus one is taking off,
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: so we might get So we're gonna get them again.
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: A Mathra minus zero Godzilla that I don't I'll be
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: scared of that. Even know that Godzilla's mall itty bitty
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: compared to everything else that they've ever made.
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: This minus one is the same size as the original Godzilla.
- 1:48:09Speaker 4: Well, I mean, he's still itty bitty, but the more
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: I would say he's the more he's more violent than
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: any of the others. He is like goddamnky spooky.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: The scene the original scene in UH minus one where
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: he first pops up as his like in his dinosaur farm, scared, the.
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: Scared the ship out of me.
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: I was like, I don't know, spooky, spooky jump scarre jump.
- 1:48:44Speaker 4: I shot my I almost shot myself. I was like,
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: holy ship, that thing is uh the least.
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: Like look at that. It looks like something like that
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: was cool. I was like, holy ship, that thing is
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: so cool and it's terrifying. And then like and then
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: like in the scene where you know it's already Godzillas
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: are already transformed into Godzilla and he's chasing the little
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: the little wooden boat and was scary because like you
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: see it like coming straight at them and they're barely
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: like chuggling along and it turns like chasing them in
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: his mouth like head pops up and.
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: It's just like you to see the dead, the anger,
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: the rage of the eyes.
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: And then when it attacks, when it attacks that warship,
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: that was that's aggressive. That was violet. Uh huh. I'm
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: over here like.
- 1:49:39Speaker 4: Damn whatever, Like, yeah, whoever pissed off that Godzilla that
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: thing was mad that that that that blast that he
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: made in the city. There's some hatred behind that. I'm
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: about to fuck y'all up. And he did, and he did.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: He did.
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: Now I really hope.
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: I really do hope that this goes into people start
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: turning to the Kaiju's or some ship, because I swear
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: to God that girl's prime real estate to become bio
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: lante prime. Maybe not the next one, but further down
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: the line, that is prime material right there.
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: So something like they've already like hinted at the plot
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: that like there's a there is gonna be another Kaiju. Yeah,
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: but it's something that like it's something buried in like
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: in Japan somewhere.
- 1:50:35Speaker 4: Thinking that's why people are people are thinking it's what's
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: his face pollution guy name?
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I don't I don't see I don't see it.
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: I mean it could be I guess it could be
- 1:50:52Speaker 4: King of Doora, but I think that'd be kind of
- 1:50:53Speaker 4: stupid because you've already seen of that bitch.
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: I think it would be way too soon for you know,
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: Doora was like Dora is not a first movie encounter, No,
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: Like he's more of like an end all be all
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: kind of.
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: And I don't think I don't think it would be Mathra.
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: It could be Manthra. At this point. They could introduce
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: Mathra and I wouldn't be about it. But I think
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: it would need to be another monster, like probably not.
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: I don't think it would be like it would have
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: to be a new monster. I would say it's a
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: completely new monster maybe something that who knows, like maybe like,
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: uh so, what's her name, Amigo?
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, she like she's definitely been infected with that, with that,
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: with g cells. Yeah, it's probably either gonna cost some
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: kind of mutation and maybe like in her, it's not
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: like I don't know. I have a feeling that like
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: other people like her were infected and one of them
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: is going to get to the point where like they
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: mutate into a kaiju. Yeah, and they're gonna try. They're
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: gonna be rushing to find a way to like hear her.
- 1:52:14Speaker 4: That's why I'm hoping that she turns into Biolante.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: I have dreams, Okay, dreams.
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: I think it's Biolance. Would if they ever bring back Biolance,
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: it would have to be decades later in in the
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: in the minus one verse, because Biolance is a result
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: of of splicing.
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: They can easily change They can easily change that though
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: it's not that different.
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: It's not that sedd and Stone maybe.
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: But I don't think they're gonna bring back Bolance. Okay,
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: I'm still on the I'm still skeptical, skeptical of them
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: bringing space Godzilla in uh in the next in Supernova, Like,
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: I'm still.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: Like, what's the point, what's the point then, what's the
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: point then what's who's the villain?
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: I swear.
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: If it's not space Godzilla, I will walk out of
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: that theater.
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: I mean, I'm pretty sure it is going to be
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: a Godzilla. This next enemy is going to be like
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: another Godzilla.
- 1:53:23Speaker 4: I okay, space Godzilla, as in their take on space godzill,
- 1:53:28Speaker 4: not literally space Godzilla.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Yeah, if it is their version of Spacegudzila, because like
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: I can believe it because like in in New Empire,
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: like they go into Hollow Earth and they discover those
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: crystals that can control gravity. So okay, it would make
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: sense that like there would probably be another Godzilla out there,
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: and this one it has those I mutated by integrating
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: those crystals into his body, which would make sense because
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: space Godzilla has gravity powers, It can manipulate gravity, it
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: can line to space, all right, it came from space.
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: So if like if it makes space skuds allah, then
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: they can't go the original route it would have to
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: come from Hollow Earth, or maybe it wasn't hollow Earth,
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: but then it left the Earth.
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: Probablame since they're not going to go since they haven't
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: done bio launte to go that route.
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: Yeahs creation Space Godzilla.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: What so what if like the what if our guy,
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: our Godzilla didn't actually fight uh Gudora originally, but like
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: back in the past when he was when he was
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: frozen and ice, what if it was Simo and Space Godzilla.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: Fair?
- 1:54:38Speaker 4: That is a fair, That is fair, love her, love
- 1:54:42Speaker 4: her new Queen, New Queen icon.
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: When Chimo and Space Goudzilla fought. I think maybe Space
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: Godzilla was driven off world or something else drew it
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: off the off world and it went to fight. Whatever
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: sense because Godora was sent here y a parasite, But
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: I feel like Godora is not a naturally occurring Titan
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: like the Titans on Earth.
- 1:55:06Speaker 3: Probably not.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like was created. He's an alien. Yeah,
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: he's obviously an alien.
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: Aliens. They could easily bring in aliens.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. That's the thing about That's the thing
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: about the original show era that I missed was that
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: there were aliens. They literally fought aliens multiple times, the
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: Aliens from Planet X, the the key Locks, and then
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: there was the the Simians.
- 1:55:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I would not put it past them, even though
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: people are probably like, what the alien's doing here? But
- 1:55:40Speaker 4: I mean it's a it's a it's a nice pool.
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: It will be a nice pool if they went una
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: explain a lot with like Godora and it would.
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: Explain yeah, yeah, so I don't know, or unless like
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: maybe like there there was more than one Godzilla and
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: the Aliens took their Godzilla and experiments it on it
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: to turn it into space Godzilla.
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: Like I think the space Godzilla will probably be or
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: the equivalent, or probably that one with the wings, which
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: is trippy even think.
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: About if well, when we saw that one with the wings,
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: I was like, that's got to be space Godzilla. It's
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: got to be Spacegunzilla, like like it would make sense
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: that an indigenous people would have seen a flying Godzilla,
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: but he probably doesn't have wings. It was just flying
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: because it's using gravity, and they're like, well, we don't
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: know that. They wouldn't understand how to like draw.
- 1:56:34Speaker 4: That on or it's like it's diamonds kind of form
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: to make it look like wings.
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: Interpreted space Godzilla does is he creates like this shelfs
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: of crystals around himself. So when he's like flying long
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: distances or through space, he's basically like you see like
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: his upper torso and body on like the bottom of
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: the shell, and then all across his back you have
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: these big ass crystal formations. So it creates like a
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: kind of like almost like a like it's like his
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: old space little personal spaceship.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, easily just been that and they just interpret
- 1:57:09Speaker 4: that as wings.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: Either way, bring me my space boy. I want my
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: space boy, my Biolante, bringing my children, my children.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: If they bringing Biolante, then I will live for that.
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: But until then, I'm like.
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: It's your fault. It's your fault. It's your fault. Why
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: I love Biolante so much. It's your fault, fault because
- 1:57:34Speaker 4: you showed me the movie and then I really fell
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: in love with Biolonte. I was like, Queen, that's problem,
- 1:57:39Speaker 4: not me, that's that's a you problem now because I
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: may you a problem because you the one that did
- 1:57:44Speaker 4: its to me that I love Biolante as much as
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: I love Mathra my queens, Mathra Shimu and Biolante, my
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: girls the Queen's.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: For me, It's Mathra, Guidora and uh.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: Cador. The Chad.
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: I loved is on my favorites. The Chad Chad is Chad.
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: Chad, Chad, Chad Chad.
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: No, Chad, respectfully disagree.
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: He's a wipe.
- 1:58:18Speaker 4: He's a He's a typical white boy in college football.
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: Sorority sorority bros. That's what good door is. I said
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: what I said, That's.
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: What that meant, what we said, you said what you said.
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: Anyway. So like this episode kind of segued from Mathra
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: into the whole franchise.
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: Yeah again in general.
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: Like next we're probably gonna see Mathro again in the
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: next Godzilla film, because we got her in Godzilla in
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: the New Empire, which I loved. I was like, they brought.
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: Her back queen and she has had a new look lived.
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: Yeah, they made her more like they she still had
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: the same wing design, but they made her wings slightly broader,
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: and they gave her more like a traditional color scheme. Yeah.
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: Uh so like because instead of like in the original
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: in God's Looking at the Monsters, her wings were technically
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: like a bluish color that would and they would just
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: change color from like blue to that bright yellow. But
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: in this one, like she they gave her that original
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: like yellow orange color scheme. Yeah, so I love that,
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: and I love how like when she would fly you
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: could see like little specks of dust trailing her.
- 1:59:38Speaker 4: As much as you hate, I love that King Kong
- 1:59:41Speaker 4: and Shemu are basically Godzillam Mathra.
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: It's interesting, Like, I mean, it is interesting that the
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: two of them, that Kong and Shemu formed that relationship.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: But like I like Shimo and I want to see
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: more Sheimu. I don't care for Kong. I don't. I
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: just really don't. I don't really. Cang is my least favorite.
- 2:00:03Speaker 4: That's funny. That's my that's my mother's favorite is King.
- 2:00:08Speaker 4: And I'm like, okay, all right, all right, there's.
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:00:18Speaker 4: I mean he's not my fear by no means he's
- 2:00:22Speaker 4: he's just a big monkey who has cool armor stuff now,
- 2:00:28Speaker 4: but just a big monkey.
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I think this next one is supposed to be
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: the last Godzilla and Kong, and then I think the
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: next Gudzila after that was supposed to be like the
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: end of the franchise of the American franchise.
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: The next one is probably gonna have Destroyer in it,
- 2:00:42Speaker 4: because obviously, how else are you going to end it on?
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: I mean, they're probably gonna make another monster, that's what
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: they've been doing.
- 2:00:51Speaker 3: I'm gonna be so mad.
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: I mean they, I mean they have it there. They've
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: used an oxygen destroyer, so it wouldn't be to come back.
- 2:01:01Speaker 7: Destroy it as a final If they bring him back,
- 2:01:05Speaker 7: he's either going to be brought back completely different from
- 2:01:07Speaker 7: what he originally was, or it's going to be another
- 2:01:10Speaker 7: monster that would comes from the same origin.
- 2:01:14Speaker 4: Does strike give me the Boy? The ugliest I just fucked,
- 2:01:19Speaker 4: but like give me.
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: The Boy, We're just start to wait and see.
- 2:01:23Speaker 4: But I don't I don't like this negativity here, ladies
- 2:01:26Speaker 4: and gentlemen, No Biolonte, no Space Godzilla negativity, negativity, negativity.
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: Realistic as in the last In the thirty years since Bilon,
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: in the over thirty plus years and thence Bylante has
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: been introduced to the franchise, not once have they made another.
- 2:01:48Speaker 4: And I'm sure they got and I'm sure they've gotten
- 2:01:50Speaker 4: a lot of flack for that because people do love Biolante,
- 2:01:52Speaker 4: thank you.
- 2:01:53Speaker 1: Like Bilonce didn't even get introduced to one of the
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: video games until Godzilla leashed.
- 2:02:00Speaker 3: Like I don't.
- 2:02:02Speaker 4: I don't stand this Biolante hate is Biolante negativity Alante.
- 2:02:06Speaker 1: I'm just giving. I'm stating a fact.
- 2:02:09Speaker 3: I don't stand subscribe.
- 2:02:13Speaker 4: I don't subscribe to this Biolonte negativity against my girl.
- 2:02:16Speaker 4: I'll stand against We don't stand. We don't subscribe.
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: You didn't willingly subscribecribed.
- 2:02:24Speaker 4: Unsubscribed, unsubscribed, call customer service.
- 2:02:32Speaker 3: Let me just.
- 2:02:36Speaker 4: Hello, yes, unsubscribed to the buffoonery of the negativity of
- 2:02:40Speaker 4: my girl Biolante.
- 2:02:42Speaker 1: Thank you find your account?
- 2:02:44Speaker 4: Would you very fucking find it? It's your fault. So
- 2:02:48Speaker 4: now this is your problem as you, as you stated earlier,
- 2:02:51Speaker 4: you're gonna make your problem that you're they didn't get
- 2:02:53Speaker 4: much my problem. I'm making my Biolante love Biolante your problem,
- 2:02:57Speaker 4: because it's your fault to begin with.
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: It's not a problem though you're how is it? How
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: is you loving that big plant problem?
- 2:03:05Speaker 4: Because I don't stop talking about it and how I
- 2:03:07Speaker 4: want and how I would love for her to be
- 2:03:09Speaker 4: in a film, and like she's gonna be in there,
- 2:03:11Speaker 4: she gonna be it's gonna be her, be her. But
- 2:03:14Speaker 4: you you missed her negativity. Don't subscribe unsubscribed, we don't
- 2:03:19Speaker 4: stand that negativity. Here, ladies and gentlemen, we love Biolante here.
- 2:03:23Speaker 4: If you don't, please go watch the movies you can
- 2:03:25Speaker 4: falling over there too, yawn. Thank you for joining my
- 2:03:30Speaker 4: ted talk on why Biolante it's just as iconic as Matha,
- 2:03:35Speaker 4: And thank.
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: You for joining us today and bought in our podcast
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: book Watchers about the Queen. The freaking episode was supposed
- 2:03:43Speaker 1: to be about author, but yeah, it turned into the
- 2:03:47Speaker 1: Godzilla franchise in general.
- 2:03:49Speaker 4: I mean, she's in the Godzilla franchise, so we have
- 2:03:51Speaker 4: to kind.
- 2:03:51Speaker 3: Of talk about it.
- 2:03:52Speaker 4: So it's not surprising that we derailed because again by A,
- 2:03:56Speaker 4: Lante will be in a movie at some point in
- 2:03:58Speaker 4: the future.
- 2:04:00Speaker 3: At me, at me, at me.
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: It's gonna be a long time.
- 2:04:05Speaker 4: We're gonna see Bio Lante and Mathra on the same screen.
- 2:04:08Speaker 3: Bet bet that's right. Number, that's right, you speak a
- 2:04:13Speaker 3: girl of me.
- 2:04:18Speaker 1: Well, we're more likely to get Space Gudzilla and Mathra
- 2:04:20Speaker 1: on the same screen. Actually we did already and the
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: original Guns versus.
- 2:04:26Speaker 3: Space Yeah, Mathra was there.
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so I'm more likely to get that again. Then
- 2:04:32Speaker 1: we already get then, we already get Bilt.
- 2:04:35Speaker 4: I want Mathra, Shimu and Bio Lante on the same screen.
- 2:04:41Speaker 9: You're not.
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: No one's ready for that.
- 2:04:43Speaker 4: I'm ready for that. I'm ready for that. I want
- 2:04:45Speaker 4: to see my three queens, my three icons. I want
- 2:04:49Speaker 4: my three icons.
- 2:04:49Speaker 1: We are gonna, we're gonna save our audience from having
- 2:04:55Speaker 1: to listening in to this continuously. Are you about this,
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: because we're gonna We're gonna just you go back and
- 2:05:00Speaker 1: forth like I'm on a doubt, like just like no
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: doubt not gonna happen.
- 2:05:06Speaker 4: You're oh, the train is gonna be the real train
- 2:05:11Speaker 4: in like a few years. Trust trust no, trust no,
- 2:05:16Speaker 4: But thank you all for listening to this episode on
- 2:05:18Speaker 4: the Luminous Fairies and.
- 2:05:20Speaker 1: Mathra Luminius Fairies and mara Ah.
- 2:05:23Speaker 3: That's right.
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: So yes, you can Amazon. You can get it at
- 2:05:27Speaker 1: your local bookstore like it was released on Amazon first
- 2:05:32Speaker 1: and then later on it was released physically on like
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: in bookstores, So you can find this at your local
- 2:05:38Speaker 1: Barnes and Noble. You can find on Amazon or anywhere
- 2:05:41Speaker 1: else that you get your books from. All right, you
- 2:05:43Speaker 1: get your stash from, as I call it, because I
- 2:05:45Speaker 1: get most of my stash Amazon.
- 2:05:48Speaker 4: So of course, ladies and gentlemen and others, if you
- 2:05:52Speaker 4: can't afford to go to a bookstore and do it,
- 2:05:53Speaker 4: do you have the bookstore support? Support the bookstores, because
- 2:05:56Speaker 4: let me tell you what, I still find it interesting
- 2:05:59Speaker 4: that Barnes and Noble. I don't know you book girlies,
- 2:06:02Speaker 4: y'all say Barnes and Noble, because Barnes and Nobles was
- 2:06:04Speaker 4: declining in the last couple of years, but since COVID
- 2:06:07Speaker 4: they have opened up like three hundred some plus stores.
- 2:06:12Speaker 4: Again about life, back to books.
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: So keep it up, girlies, and let's keep going. Because
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: if we can get it to the point where like
- 2:06:20Speaker 1: bookstores are now more are just as common as they
- 2:06:23Speaker 1: were back in the two thousands, uh, let's we can
- 2:06:25Speaker 1: start getting these fucking book prices down. This book alone,
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: this tiny little novel.
- 2:06:33Speaker 4: Much twenty bucks?
- 2:06:36Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty bucks. Okay, hold on, I'm just gonna I'm
- 2:06:41Speaker 1: gonna pull a book at random, one of my small
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: books at random, and I'm gonna read the price that's
- 2:06:45Speaker 1: printed on it.
- 2:06:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:06:48Speaker 1: Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clark eighteen ninety nine USD.
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: For this book, this book is bicker than the loomis
- 2:06:59Speaker 1: Math and Fairies, and it's cheap. It's while cheaper, it's
- 2:07:03Speaker 1: still twenty bucks. I remember a time where you could
- 2:07:06Speaker 1: buy a book like this. The paper covers were always
- 2:07:08Speaker 1: supposed to be cheaper than the hardcovers. You could get
- 2:07:11Speaker 1: this for like ten bucks. A book in like this
- 2:07:14Speaker 1: this size, back in the two thousands was like probably
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: like five somewhere between five and ten bucks. Now, fiscal
- 2:07:21Speaker 1: copies like this, printed copies twenty bucks. Something you can.
- 2:07:25Speaker 4: Bill a nest in, which is for a future episode.
- 2:07:28Speaker 4: This one I bought at Barnes Noble twenty bucks. And
- 2:07:31Speaker 4: then this one, Get in the ninth, Get in the
- 2:07:35Speaker 4: ninth thirty dollars or hardback granded it's hardback, but still
- 2:07:39Speaker 4: hardbacks were weren't as expensive either. Back then, what this
- 2:07:43Speaker 4: one right here for the game's god's play is like
- 2:07:46Speaker 4: thirty two ninety nine, Like what the fuck?
- 2:07:50Speaker 1: Let me sit here, let me pull out, let me
- 2:07:52Speaker 1: pull out the most recent cover the Dungeon Crawler series. Okay,
- 2:08:04Speaker 1: this one doesn't have a price on it. Then again,
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: I got this off of Amazon.
- 2:08:09Speaker 3: I think, I think at Barnes and Noble they were
- 2:08:11Speaker 3: like twenty bucks.
- 2:08:12Speaker 1: I think they're more than that. They're like thirty books
- 2:08:16Speaker 1: like that. Like, yeah, they're they're like let's let's bring
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: back the days. Let's listen. I understand, like we're trying
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: to be more environmentally friendly, but books are books. There's
- 2:08:30Speaker 1: no you can't beat a hardcover book. You could beat
- 2:08:33Speaker 1: someone with a hardcover book.
- 2:08:34Speaker 3: But you just can't be period.
- 2:08:36Speaker 1: You could, you just can. You can beat someone with
- 2:08:39Speaker 1: a with a hardcover book, but you just can't beat
- 2:08:41Speaker 1: the quality of having a physical book. All Right, I
- 2:08:44Speaker 1: know I sound like an old man right now, Like, oh, well,
- 2:08:47Speaker 1: you could just get it off a kindle. You can
- 2:08:48Speaker 1: just get it off of Uh, you can just get
- 2:08:50Speaker 1: it off of iTunes or wherever what? Or get it
- 2:08:53Speaker 1: on audiobooks. Okay, Well I don't like audiobooks. Okay, I
- 2:08:56Speaker 1: like reading, but.
- 2:08:58Speaker 4: I as a person who who loves audiobooks, who lives
- 2:09:01Speaker 4: his audiobooks, I still buy the physical copy of the
- 2:09:04Speaker 4: book because I want to support the author and what more.
- 2:09:08Speaker 1: Yeah, like for years I was only ever buying I
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: was only ever buying e books like when I because
- 2:09:16Speaker 1: the thing is, there was a point where I was
- 2:09:17Speaker 1: pretty broke and e books were a lot cheaper, are
- 2:09:20Speaker 1: a lot cheaper than physical books, and uh, I realized, like, well,
- 2:09:27Speaker 1: I don't need like because since I was living with
- 2:09:29Speaker 1: my mother at the time, my mother has a tendency
- 2:09:32Speaker 1: to donate my books and she sees it I'm not
- 2:09:36Speaker 1: if I'm not actively reading them. She she has this
- 2:09:38Speaker 1: idea like, well, if you're not reading them, why do
- 2:09:40Speaker 1: you need them, Like because the media it's called media,
- 2:09:46Speaker 1: Like I may not read it like now, but I
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: I'm keeping these books because I'm going because I myself
- 2:09:52Speaker 1: would like to reread these books. There's there are plenty
- 2:09:54Speaker 1: of books on my shelf that I've read reread multiple times.
- 2:09:59Speaker 3: I may go.
- 2:10:00Speaker 1: I can reread the Dungeon Crawler series, all right. I
- 2:10:03Speaker 1: have the Harry Potter series on my phone as an ebook.
- 2:10:06Speaker 1: I have the Aragon series like I have the first
- 2:10:10Speaker 1: book physical copy and I'll and I have the rest
- 2:10:13Speaker 1: on ebook. But I still this is one of the
- 2:10:17Speaker 1: series that I've reread the most. I've read this series.
- 2:10:20Speaker 1: I've read Harry Potter the most I've read. There was
- 2:10:23Speaker 1: another series that I read several times. I just can't
- 2:10:25Speaker 1: remember it at the time. I can't remember. I just
- 2:10:27Speaker 1: can't remember it right now, Oh, Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
- 2:10:31Speaker 4: Even though I buy a lot of my manga on ebook,
- 2:10:34Speaker 4: if I really like them, I will go out and
- 2:10:36Speaker 4: buy the fiscal copy just to have it so support.
- 2:10:40Speaker 1: Yeah, in terms of manga, I've reread the Naruto series
- 2:10:44Speaker 1: multiple times. Yeah, And like I feel like now that
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: I'm older, I don't have a lot of time to
- 2:10:51Speaker 1: go through and reread these books because like my right now,
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: it's just like there's so much there's so many other
- 2:10:57Speaker 1: books I want to read right now, so I just
- 2:10:59Speaker 1: haven't had the time to go back and reread them.
- 2:11:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:11:03Speaker 1: I'm trying to get to a point where I've cleared
- 2:11:04Speaker 1: my list and I want to go back and reread
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: some books.
- 2:11:07Speaker 4: Who Little Power of books that I'm reading in order
- 2:11:12Speaker 4: for the pod and just in general. And I'm like,
- 2:11:15Speaker 4: I'm trying to force myself if I want to listen
- 2:11:18Speaker 4: to the audiobook except for the why I'm currently listening to,
- 2:11:21Speaker 4: I have the audiobook I need. I want to have
- 2:11:23Speaker 4: the book in my hand reading along with it.
- 2:11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but still right now, right now, I'm reading The
- 2:11:31Speaker 1: Demon Cycle by Peter Brett, and I'm on book three,
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: The Daylight War and it's a good series. But this
- 2:11:40Speaker 1: is like my current read and then this shelf right
- 2:11:43Speaker 1: here is my TVR. Well everything like on this side
- 2:11:47Speaker 1: I've already read so Summer Hikaro Died, Lunus Faery's and
- 2:11:50Speaker 1: Mathra HP Lovecraft, I've read those. Everything on this side
