- 0:10Speaker 1: Kids, it's the report.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Well, good evening and welcome to the Bolt Report. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 2: James Macpherson filling in for Andrew Bolt. Coming up this evening.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Liberal party feuding deepens as Senator Decinta Nampa Jim for
- 0:23Speaker 2: Price labels her party a clown show. The New South
- 0:27Speaker 2: Wales government has commissioned ten reports into what shutting coal
- 0:31Speaker 2: fired power stations will do to power prices. And guess
- 0:34Speaker 2: what they're refusing to show us what the report's found.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I can't imagine why. I'll get to that with my panel.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Plus Greta Tunberg pretends that photos of Jewish hostages in
- 0:45Speaker 2: ghars and tunnels are actually Palestinians in Israeli prisons. And
- 0:49Speaker 2: do our political class really understand the nature of Sydney's
- 0:53Speaker 2: pro Palestine demonstrations. Rowan Dean will join me on that
- 0:56Speaker 2: one shortly, But first we begin tonight's program with a mystery,
- 1:00Speaker 2: that ancient riddle that has baffled humanity.
- 1:03Speaker 1: What is a woman?
- 1:05Speaker 3: Now?
- 1:06Speaker 1: I know what you're thinking.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You're thinking it's a question so obvious that it barely
- 1:09Speaker 2: needs thinking about.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Women are well women? You know, females? And how do
- 1:14Speaker 1: I know what a female is? Well, you just know,
- 1:17Speaker 1: don't you. I mean, if you want to get technical.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Women have vaginas rather than penises, And if you want
- 1:22Speaker 2: to get scientific, well, women have a different set of
- 1:25Speaker 2: chromosomes to men. In Canberra, though, well, simplicity is a
- 1:29Speaker 2: hate crime and things aren't nearly so clear cut, especially
- 1:33Speaker 2: when you're the Sex Discrimination Commissioner. Doctor Anikody appeared at
- 1:38Speaker 2: a Senate committee hearing yesterday and was asked about a
- 1:41Speaker 2: court case in which she gave evidence in support of
- 1:44Speaker 2: a biological man who wanted to access a female only app,
- 1:49Speaker 2: which makes you ask why would the Sex Discrimination Commissioner
- 1:52Speaker 2: advocate for a man wanting to access female only spaces?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Well, I hope you're sitting down.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Roxanne Tickle is not a man. She is a trans woman,
- 2:05Speaker 4: and so she has gone through various processes and has transitioned.
- 2:10Speaker 4: And she's a trans woman.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Whoa what gender alchemy is this?
- 2:15Speaker 2: According to the nation's Sex Discrimination commissioner, a biological man?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Is there any other kind can go through various processes
- 2:25Speaker 2: and become a woman? That does not sound right. The
- 2:31Speaker 2: Sex Discrimination Commissioner is a doctor, though I'm sure she
- 2:34Speaker 2: can clear it up for us.
- 2:36Speaker 5: What sort of chromosomes.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Does she have xx or X Y?
- 2:42Speaker 4: I can't answer that. You can't No, I can't answer that.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Wow, Sorry, my bad doctor. Annacody is a doctor of philosophy.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Let's come back to that.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Can someone who was born an X Y chromosomes change
- 2:58Speaker 5: to xx chromosos a male change to female?
- 3:02Speaker 4: I don't believe so, but I'm not a scientist.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Now I'm no scientist either, but I'm fairly sure that
- 3:09Speaker 2: various processes won't turn a Y chromosome into an X
- 3:13Speaker 2: unless the process involves photoshop.
- 3:16Speaker 4: If their chromosomes are x Y, then they're chromosomes. I
- 3:22Speaker 4: don't believe they can change. But as I repeat, I'm
- 3:25Speaker 4: not a scientist.
- 3:28Speaker 2: The Sex Discrimination Commissioner doesn't think a man can become
- 3:31Speaker 2: a female. But like I said, her doctorate is in philosophy,
- 3:35Speaker 2: not science, so there's always a chance that Arthur could
- 3:38Speaker 2: become Martha. It raises an interesting point on our education system, though,
- 3:42Speaker 2: does it not. This is a woman who has a
- 3:45Speaker 2: Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Laws and a doctorate
- 3:47Speaker 2: in philosophy from the University of New South Wales, so
- 3:51Speaker 2: she's educated enough to argue how many angels could fit
- 3:54Speaker 2: on the head of a pin, but not qualified to
- 3:57Speaker 2: say what a woman is. Perhaps we're being too hard
- 4:00Speaker 2: on the University of New South Wales. Doctor Anacody also
- 4:02Speaker 2: went to Harvard and Harvard graduates. Well, they do seem
- 4:07Speaker 2: a little dull.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Can you provide a definition for the word woman?
- 4:14Speaker 4: Can I provide a definition?
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:18Speaker 3: I can't.
- 4:19Speaker 6: You can't.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Not In a case contact.
- 4:26Speaker 2: That was US Supreme Court Judge Ktanji Brown Jackson, who,
- 4:30Speaker 2: like doctor Cody, emerged from Harvard stupider than when she
- 4:34Speaker 2: went in. In so many universities these days, it seems
- 4:37Speaker 2: people go in with brains and come out with beliefs.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Dtor Anna Cody isn't a scientist, so she can't say
- 4:43Speaker 2: for sure what a woman is. Just for the record,
- 4:46Speaker 2: I'm not a park ranger, but I can tell a
- 4:47Speaker 2: bear from a backpacker. You've got to wonder how our
- 4:50Speaker 2: sex discrimination commissioner is able to advocate against the discrimination.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Of women if she doesn't know what a woman is.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But it got worse. In fact, things got a lot worse.
- 5:01Speaker 2: One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts next asked Dr Annacody if
- 5:05Speaker 2: she could agree that a man cannot become a woman
- 5:08Speaker 2: not even by the stroke of a government bureaucrat's pen.
- 5:11Speaker 2: You know, like in New South Wales, and in Queensland
- 5:14Speaker 2: and in Victoria.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Would you agree that a piece of legislation can't change
- 5:18Speaker 5: a person's sex. If born a man, they are a man.
- 5:21Speaker 5: If they're born with X Y crimsons, they're a man
- 5:24Speaker 5: and they stay man.
- 5:25Speaker 4: No, I would not agree.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You don't agree, no, So there you go.
- 5:29Speaker 2: According to the Sex Discrimination Commissioner, a piece of legislation
- 5:33Speaker 2: can change a person's sex. Maybe the problem isn't so
- 5:37Speaker 2: much that Harvard makes you stupider. Maybe the problem is
- 5:40Speaker 2: that Harvard makes you believe you can recreate reality to
- 5:42Speaker 2: suit your ideology. But here I am getting all philosophical
- 5:46Speaker 2: when she's the one with the masters in philosophy. Let
- 5:48Speaker 2: me ask a very practical question. If a man was
- 5:52Speaker 2: demanding the right to use the women's bathroom, would you
- 5:56Speaker 2: agree he had a right to do so? Now, if
- 5:58Speaker 2: you came up with the answer no in less than
- 6:01Speaker 2: five minutes, I'd say you're eminently more qualified to be
- 6:04Speaker 2: Australia Sex Discrimination Commissioner than doctor Anna Cody.
- 6:09Speaker 5: If a woman took a case to court today, doctor
- 6:12Speaker 5: Cody trying to stop a person with a penis who
- 6:14Speaker 5: identified as a female going into a women's bathroom? Which
- 6:18Speaker 5: side would you be arguing for if you were there
- 6:21Speaker 5: as a friend of the court.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Could you repeat that?
- 6:25Speaker 4: Surely, Senator.
- 6:26Speaker 5: If a woman took a case to court today trying
- 6:29Speaker 5: to stop a person with a penis who identified as
- 6:32Speaker 5: a female going into a woman's bathroom, which side would
- 6:35Speaker 5: you be arguing for if you're the friend of the court.
- 6:40Speaker 4: I would need to know more facts, Senator. I can't
- 6:43Speaker 4: make a judgment on that.
- 6:44Speaker 2: In particular, someone with a penis wants to use the
- 6:48Speaker 2: women's bathroom, but the Sex Discrimination Commission needs more facts
- 6:54Speaker 2: before she can determine whether or not that's appropriate. Reminds
- 6:57Speaker 2: me of an incident a few years ago when a
- 7:00Speaker 2: woman was outraged by a man using the female bathroom
- 7:03Speaker 2: at a Los Angeles we SPA.
- 7:05Speaker 7: I just want to be clear with you, it's okay.
- 7:08Speaker 7: It's okay for a man to go into the women's section,
- 7:12Speaker 7: show his penis around the other women, young little girls
- 7:16Speaker 7: under age your SPA we SPA.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Condon that is that what you're saying?
- 7:21Speaker 8: I see it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: It lets me know he's a man. He is a man.
- 7:27Speaker 3: He is a man, he is not no female.
- 7:31Speaker 2: The staff member behind the service desk was not our
- 7:34Speaker 2: sex discrimination commissioner, but it could have been.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Now, please don't get me wrong.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I'm not saying that Australia's Sex Discrimination Commissioner is clueless.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I'm not saying that at all. She's saying that.
- 7:46Speaker 5: The position on biological males in female spaces. Could you
- 7:51Speaker 5: please explain the Human Rights Commission your position on that?
- 7:55Speaker 4: What do you mean by biological males?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Now, just as doctor an A.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Cody is not a scientist, I'm not a mind reader,
- 8:02Speaker 2: but I know what you're thinking. You're sitting at home
- 8:04Speaker 2: thinking what a joke our country has become that this
- 8:08Speaker 2: is the person appointed to protect the rights of females
- 8:11Speaker 2: in Australia. And you're right, of course, it is a joke.
- 8:14Speaker 2: But it's a bigger joke than you ever imagined.
- 8:18Speaker 5: How much are you being paid by the tax base
- 8:19Speaker 5: to go in and about for biological born and developed
- 8:23Speaker 5: men to be allowed into women's spaces.
- 8:27Speaker 4: So my salary is similar to that that you mentioned
- 8:29Speaker 4: for Commissioner Sivamen.
- 8:31Speaker 5: About four hundred thousand dollars per year plus fifteen point
- 8:33Speaker 5: four percent super correct.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Wow, we have a sex discrimination commissioner who can't say
- 8:40Speaker 2: what a woman is, but who can sure say what
- 8:43Speaker 2: you're paying her four hundred thousand dollars a year. The
- 8:46Speaker 2: sex discrimination Commissioner has become the sex eradication Commissioner. Proof
- 8:51Speaker 2: that the only thing government can truly transition is your
- 8:54Speaker 2: money into madness. Well, the Liberal Party is an absolute
- 9:02Speaker 2: clown show.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I'm not saying that.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Senator Jacinta nampajimper Price is saying that she told two
- 9:08Speaker 2: gb radio listeners this morning that colleagues needed to stop
- 9:11Speaker 2: leaking against one another.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Something has to be done. I've written to our leader
- 9:17Speaker 3: about my concerns about backgrounding and about leaking in US
- 9:23Speaker 3: and US it's just become juvenile this kind of conduct.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I wrote to Susan Lee. I sent a letter to
- 9:31Speaker 3: her yesterday morning outlining my concerns and ask them for
- 9:35Speaker 3: her leadership on this matter. It needs to be brought
- 9:38Speaker 3: to attention in the party room. It's got to stop.
- 9:42Speaker 3: We look like we've been. There's been commentary on the
- 9:46Speaker 3: fact that we look like a clown show.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Now I'm a big fan of Senator Price, but I'm
- 9:51Speaker 2: not sure leaking the contents of a letter you've written
- 9:53Speaker 2: to Susan Lee about how colleagues should stop leaking. Is
- 9:57Speaker 2: the best way to get colleagues to stop leaking? Joining
- 10:01Speaker 2: me now is former in Southwest Treasurer Michael Costa and
- 10:03Speaker 2: GXO Strategies director Cameron Milner. Michael Costa, smart move by
- 10:08Speaker 2: Center Price today, no dumb move.
- 10:11Speaker 9: Look, I agree with you that she's one of the
- 10:14Speaker 9: assets of the coalition and potentially a prime minister. And
- 10:20Speaker 9: I know that doesn't say much given the group they're
- 10:22Speaker 9: currently got, but she's got some real talents. The problem
- 10:25Speaker 9: is she's too green and naive at the moment. She
- 10:29Speaker 9: needs to spend some time, you know, reflecting on what
- 10:32Speaker 9: is an appropriate policy stands for her to take. She
- 10:36Speaker 9: ought to drop the MAGA stuff in Australia. I think,
- 10:39Speaker 9: you know, Australia is a different country to the US
- 10:42Speaker 9: and Britain. We're not going to end up with a
- 10:46Speaker 9: MAGA type movement here because firstly, we've got preferential voting
- 10:49Speaker 9: and that force US US towards the center. You know,
- 10:52Speaker 9: we don't have first parts of the post. But having
- 10:55Speaker 9: said that, I mean she's right about one thing. It
- 10:57Speaker 9: is a clown show at the moment and it will
- 10:58Speaker 9: remain so, I think for the next or three years.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think you're absolutely right, Michael. I mean,
- 11:04Speaker 2: it is a clown show and she's spot on. But Cameron,
- 11:08Speaker 2: she went on to criticize the government on a range
- 11:10Speaker 2: of issues, and God knows they deserve criticism. But what
- 11:13Speaker 2: do you think made headlines today, Senator Price pointing out
- 11:16Speaker 2: the government's secrecy on nicest brides or pointing out that
- 11:19Speaker 2: her party is a clown show.
- 11:23Speaker 8: Well, James, she gave the sound bite, didn't She was
- 11:25Speaker 8: the clown show. So this is the problem in the
- 11:27Speaker 8: Liberals have got to get over their grieving in private.
- 11:30Speaker 8: They've got to get this their reset in private and
- 11:32Speaker 8: take on the Albanese government. Be an opposition for goodness sake,
- 11:35Speaker 8: and stop having these public debates in the forum sucking
- 11:39Speaker 8: up oxygen because every day the Liberals talk about themselves
- 11:42Speaker 8: is another win for Albanese.
- 11:44Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Absolutely, Well, speaking of clown shows, can we talk about
- 11:47Speaker 2: Victoria and the just center Allen government.
- 11:50Speaker 1: The Victorian premier has.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Announced two months of free travel on weekend trains, trams
- 11:55Speaker 2: and buses from December, and she's calling it and I'm
- 11:59Speaker 2: quoting the biggest free public transport bonanza in Victoria ever,
- 12:04Speaker 2: and it's all to say thank you to Victorians for
- 12:07Speaker 2: putting up with years of disruption while the metro Tunnel
- 12:10Speaker 2: was being built. To Michael Costa, I hate how politicians
- 12:13Speaker 2: do this. It's not free, it'll cost fifteen million dollars
- 12:16Speaker 2: and it's hardly a thank you when taxpayers are paying
- 12:20Speaker 2: for it.
- 12:21Speaker 9: Absolutely, it's not a thank you at all. It's a
- 12:24Speaker 9: bribe to try and get people to vote for her. Look,
- 12:26Speaker 9: let's let's put this in a context. You know, Victoria
- 12:28Speaker 9: at the moment is heading for two hundred billion dollars
- 12:32Speaker 9: at a state debt. It's a bunch of deficits around
- 12:36Speaker 9: eight billion dollars. It's sorry, it's interest payment. So you know,
- 12:40Speaker 9: about twenty million dollars a day. And you know public
- 12:45Speaker 9: transport down there are less than ten percent of the
- 12:47Speaker 9: population uses it for its journeys to work. And not
- 12:50Speaker 9: only that, the farebox only returns about twenty percent, as
- 12:53Speaker 9: it does across the country. So this is going to
- 12:56Speaker 9: be paid for by people that don't use public transport
- 12:59Speaker 9: by and let's be frank about this. The depth is
- 13:02Speaker 9: in a generational and or for some cheap vote buying
- 13:07Speaker 9: because she fills her positions insecure. That is the real
- 13:10Speaker 9: clown show, and I think just Price should focus in
- 13:13Speaker 9: on that. But you probably get away with it because
- 13:15Speaker 9: people like free stuff.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Oh, I was going to say, Victorians will never fall
- 13:20Speaker 2: for it, Catherin. If Jacinta Allen wants to spend fifteen
- 13:24Speaker 2: million dollars saying thank you to Victorians, I'm trying to
- 13:27Speaker 2: think of anything else that maybe she should be spending
- 13:30Speaker 2: money on.
- 13:32Speaker 8: Well, she could, but this is actually a premier who
- 13:35Speaker 8: wants to win the next election, and the state Liberals
- 13:37Speaker 8: are sitting down here thinking the election is going to
- 13:38Speaker 8: be gifted to them. Somehow wants to win. It's got
- 13:41Speaker 8: the work from home policy, which was incredibly popular with voters,
- 13:44Speaker 8: maybe not employers. This free transport policy is going to
- 13:46Speaker 8: be really popular within a city people where she's competing
- 13:49Speaker 8: against the Greens as well. So this is a premier
- 13:51Speaker 8: who wants to win and she'll do whatever it takes
- 13:53Speaker 8: to win. And the Liberals can't sit there thinking it's
- 13:55Speaker 8: going to be all taken for granted. They've got to
- 13:57Speaker 8: work really hard. They're going to beat her because she's
- 13:59Speaker 8: out there being very popular and wanting to win.
- 14:02Speaker 5: Yeah she is.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, she is a good politician. I'll
- 14:06Speaker 1: give her that much.
- 14:07Speaker 2: The PM has just agreed a new defense deal with
- 14:09Speaker 2: his Singaporean counterpart that means our two countries will share
- 14:12Speaker 2: more of each other's ports and airspace.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Michael, is this a good deal for Australia. Oh?
- 14:18Speaker 9: Absolutely, And I think we should congratulate the Prime Minister
- 14:21Speaker 9: for her, because let's be fair here, I've criticized him
- 14:24Speaker 9: for a range of things, but I think this is important.
- 14:27Speaker 9: Same with the PMNG deal. This is precisely what we
- 14:30Speaker 9: should be doing to show our value to the US
- 14:33Speaker 9: and the Western Alliance, that we can hold our backyard
- 14:37Speaker 9: up as a model for cooperative protection of Western value.
- 14:43Speaker 9: So look, I congratulate the government for this. I think
- 14:45Speaker 9: it's a great deal.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I note the deal with Singapore comes in the midst
- 14:48Speaker 2: of a pretty major scandal relating to a Singapore owned company, Optus.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Here's the Singaporean PM.
- 14:56Speaker 6: I understand fully the anger, frustration and then outrach at
- 15:01Speaker 6: what has happened, because if this will have happened in Singapore,
- 15:06Speaker 6: I would feel the same. So from that point of view,
- 15:12Speaker 6: we understand the sentiments. I've extended my condolences to those
- 15:16Speaker 6: impacted by the out teach, including the family members and
- 15:20Speaker 6: loved ones of those who lost their lives, which is
- 15:23Speaker 6: tragic and all I can do is to say, from
- 15:27Speaker 6: a government's perspective, we expect our companies to act responsibly.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Cameron the Coalition have been trying to pin some of
- 15:34Speaker 2: the blame for the Optis debarcle on Anika Wells, but
- 15:37Speaker 2: I'm not sure they've made much headway, have they.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Now?
- 15:41Speaker 8: I don't think they have. I mean, Anachi's obviously quite
- 15:44Speaker 8: experienced minister. It's a second term of being a minister.
- 15:46Speaker 8: But the reality here is that Optics has done a
- 15:48Speaker 8: terrible job. I mean, you know, if the Prime Minister
- 15:51Speaker 8: of Singapore can call out one of his own companies, Sintel,
- 15:53Speaker 8: who owns Optus e victively that it was a terrible
- 15:56Speaker 8: thing goodness made the Australian CEO should not have a
- 15:58Speaker 8: ten year any longer realized that the Australian public have
- 16:01Speaker 8: hung up on him and he should leave the job
- 16:03Speaker 8: if he's got any human decency left.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Indeed, Well, the new South Wales government, let's talk about
- 16:08Speaker 2: new South Wales for a second, They've commissioned at least
- 16:11Speaker 2: ten reports into what impact closing down coal fired power
- 16:14Speaker 2: stations will have on electricity prices, but they're steadfastly refusing
- 16:18Speaker 2: to release those reports to the public. In a response
- 16:22Speaker 2: to freedom of information request, the Men's government said New
- 16:25Speaker 2: South Wales Department of Climate Change, Energy and Environment and
- 16:28Speaker 2: Water knocked back the release of nine of the ten
- 16:30Speaker 2: documents on the grounds that they contained current information, which
- 16:33Speaker 2: is exempt from disclosure under freedom of information.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Michael Wis, Chris Min's and New South Wales government so
- 16:40Speaker 1: keen to keep this information secret?
- 16:42Speaker 9: I wonder because it's absolutely horrible. That's why this is
- 16:47Speaker 9: going to show what every independent analyst in this area
- 16:50Speaker 9: has shown that this transition to net zero and the
- 16:54Speaker 9: removal of the power stations. And remember Min's had to
- 16:57Speaker 9: actually stump up money and I could grati related him
- 17:00Speaker 9: for it to keep a rhring open because he knows
- 17:03Speaker 9: what a disaster it will be. And I wouldn't be
- 17:05Speaker 9: surprised that we have to stub up more money in
- 17:07Speaker 9: New South Wales for that power station. But these reports
- 17:10Speaker 9: show what every other analysts that's independent and objective is
- 17:14Speaker 9: showing that is that this is going to cost an
- 17:17Speaker 9: arm and a leg, make our power unreliable and worse still,
- 17:21Speaker 9: is going to have a massive impact on jobs in Australia.
- 17:24Speaker 9: And I guarantee that's what those reports are showing. It
- 17:28Speaker 9: show the opposite.
- 17:29Speaker 2: It's like a double hit, isn't it, Cameron. For people
- 17:31Speaker 2: in New South Wales, we're promised cheaper energy, not getting that.
- 17:34Speaker 2: We were promised transparency not getting that either.
- 17:39Speaker 8: Well no, that's right and comes is take us into
- 17:44Speaker 8: their trust and talk to us about what the energy
- 17:46Speaker 8: prices really are and what we as taxpayers are going
- 17:48Speaker 8: to come up with a subsidence to keep col fired
- 17:50Speaker 8: power open. To your point, Michael, we all know it.
- 17:53Speaker 8: We all know power prices have gone up unbelievably. We
- 17:56Speaker 8: know colfide baseload power is still the cheapest in Australia
- 17:58Speaker 8: and has modern flea. It's like the ones in Queensland
- 18:01Speaker 8: actually be part of our power mix. No, I think
- 18:04Speaker 8: Garblent should come clean with voters and tell them what
- 18:06Speaker 8: the real truth is. Even if these documents have gone
- 18:09Speaker 8: to cabinet once they can be easily released by that
- 18:11Speaker 8: same cabinet.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Indeed, Michael Costa, Cameron Milner. Always great to catch up.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Thanks so much for coming on the program tonight. Before
- 18:17Speaker 2: we go to a break, just a quick reminder you
- 18:19Speaker 2: can see a special documentary investigating the rise of anti Semitism.
- 18:23Speaker 2: It's called October eighth and it will be broadcast right
- 18:26Speaker 2: here on Sky News Australia at half past the hour.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Just immediately after this program. We're going to go to
- 18:33Speaker 1: a break now.
- 18:34Speaker 2: But coming up, Greta Tunberg pretends photos of Jewish hostages
- 18:37Speaker 2: in gars and tunnels are actually Palestinians in Israeli prisons
- 18:41Speaker 2: and do our political class really understand the nature of
- 18:44Speaker 2: Sydney's pro Palestine demonstrations or be joined by Rowan Dean
- 18:48Speaker 2: after this, Well, welcome back to the program. I'm joined
- 18:54Speaker 2: now by Sky News host Rowan Dean. Rowan, good evening
- 18:57Speaker 2: to you. Lots to talk about. First, I want to
- 19:00Speaker 2: show you this social media post from Greta Tunberg. She writes,
- 19:06Speaker 2: the suffering of Palestinian prisoners is not a matter of opinion,
- 19:10Speaker 2: it's a fact of systemic cruelty and dehumanization. We'll leave
- 19:14Speaker 2: it on the screen there for viewers to observe. Ron
- 19:16Speaker 2: if we can put it back up, but when you
- 19:18Speaker 2: take even a cursory look at the photos she's used
- 19:21Speaker 2: to illustrate the suffering of Palestinians.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Rowan, do you notice anything, absolutely, James?
- 19:28Speaker 10: And when I first saw this, I was, and I
- 19:31Speaker 10: still find I thought it was a joke, and then
- 19:34Speaker 10: I still can't believe it's real. But there you go.
- 19:36Speaker 10: The bottom right hand corner is that photo, that heartbreaking,
- 19:40Speaker 10: horrific photo of the Israeli man digging his own grave
- 19:45Speaker 10: in a tunnel inside Gaza. And this half wit, apparently
- 19:49Speaker 10: Gregis Thunberg, has stuck this up as a photographic evidence
- 19:53Speaker 10: of what she claims to be Israeli's torturing Palestinians. It's
- 19:57Speaker 10: either a very sick joke, unbelievably sick or this or
- 20:05Speaker 10: some kind of weird error. But I think it just
- 20:08Speaker 10: goes to the heart of the matter that this girl
- 20:10Speaker 10: is and always has been a fraud and not to
- 20:15Speaker 10: be taken seriously. And the world actually should be red
- 20:18Speaker 10: faced for having taken her seriously on climate change firstly,
- 20:22Speaker 10: then on transgender rights, and more recently on Gaza. She's
- 20:26Speaker 10: an embarrassment and a joke, and a very bad joke at.
- 20:29Speaker 1: That, she sure is.
- 20:30Speaker 2: And the other irony on that post she put up
- 20:33Speaker 2: was that she also wrote humanity cannot be selective. Seems
- 20:36Speaker 2: to me she is very selective, not campaigning for the
- 20:40Speaker 2: release of Jewish hostages, never talks about them.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Very selective.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Indeed, I want to ask you about the Palestine protests, Rowan,
- 20:50Speaker 2: what do you make over the argument whether or not
- 20:53Speaker 2: a pro Palestine demonstration should be allowed to proceed at
- 20:56Speaker 2: the Opera House this weekend.
- 20:58Speaker 1: How have you seen that argument?
- 21:01Speaker 10: Sure, James, Well, I'm very much of the view that
- 21:04Speaker 10: these protest marches should be should be stopped. Writing in
- 21:09Speaker 10: next week's Spectator Australia, Peter O'Brien has a very good
- 21:13Speaker 10: article on the legal way that this should and could
- 21:16Speaker 10: and and ideally would be stopped. I won't go into
- 21:20Speaker 10: that legal argument, but it's a very sound legal argument.
- 21:24Speaker 10: But more importantly, James, I'm you know, people go, oh,
- 21:28Speaker 10: I'm a free speech absoluteness, absolutely, but this is not
- 21:31Speaker 10: a question of free speech. Every discussion or philosopher going
- 21:37Speaker 10: back as long as you want to go on free
- 21:39Speaker 10: speech recognizes and it boils down to the idea if
- 21:43Speaker 10: you can't yell fire in a crowded room or a
- 21:46Speaker 10: crowded cinema or whatever. Free speech that incites potential violence
- 21:52Speaker 10: via harassment, intimidation, mob rule, that sort of thing has
- 21:57Speaker 10: always been outside the bounds of free speech. What we
- 22:00Speaker 10: are seeing with these pro Palestinian marches, and I think
- 22:03Speaker 10: actually calling them pro Palestinians now a nonsense. These are
- 22:08Speaker 10: anti Jewish marches. They are Jewish hate marches. Everyone on
- 22:15Speaker 10: the left gets very agitated by the idea of misgendering
- 22:18Speaker 10: someone or the wrong pronoun as being hate speeches, but
- 22:22Speaker 10: this is hate marches. This is our intimidation of the
- 22:26Speaker 10: public square in a massive way. The Nazis used to
- 22:30Speaker 10: do this with their great marches, with you know, taking
- 22:33Speaker 10: over areas of Fascists have done it, Communists have done it.
- 22:38Speaker 10: Totalitarians do it all the time with the flags and
- 22:41Speaker 10: just taking over the public space.
- 22:42Speaker 1: It's obscene.
- 22:44Speaker 10: And we've got to a point now where people are
- 22:48Speaker 10: legitimately scared, particularly Jewish Australians, but not only Jewish Australians.
- 22:53Speaker 10: People are scared to go into say the CBD of
- 22:57Speaker 10: Melbourne or Sydney on any given weekend because they're likely
- 23:01Speaker 10: to be confronted by this sort of harassment intimidation threats.
- 23:05Speaker 10: And let's not forget James that the free speech that
- 23:09Speaker 10: is so called free speech that is being given voice
- 23:13Speaker 10: to hear is phrases that are war phrases exactly from
- 23:18Speaker 10: the river to the sea Globalize the interfire of the
- 23:22Speaker 10: documentary which is about to come up in a few minutes,
- 23:24Speaker 10: we'll go into this in more detail. But if you
- 23:27Speaker 10: had during World War II, you would not have had
- 23:30Speaker 10: large crowds of Germans or Japanese being allowed to protest
- 23:34Speaker 10: on the streets of Sydney calling out phrases about the
- 23:38Speaker 10: emperor or whatever. Any civilized democratic society recognizes that. And
- 23:45Speaker 10: Edmund Barton said it best. He said that your first
- 23:48Speaker 10: loyalty must be to Australia. If you come to this country,
- 23:52Speaker 10: we welcome you with open arms, but your first loyalty
- 23:55Speaker 10: must be to this country. And the concept of assimilation
- 23:59Speaker 10: is absolutely critical, and we will tolerate anything in this
- 24:03Speaker 10: country so long as we ourselves are tolerated. But it
- 24:06Speaker 10: is very clear not only from the fringe lunatics, but
- 24:10Speaker 10: from a vast number of individuals on these marches carrying
- 24:14Speaker 10: post of the Ayah tyler Hammas, barget badgers or whatever
- 24:17Speaker 10: they might be death to Australia, death to France if
- 24:21Speaker 10: you're in France, death to England, whatever it is, death
- 24:24Speaker 10: to the IDF, all this sort of stuff. It's very
- 24:26Speaker 10: very clear that there is a very aggressive, violent aspects.
- 24:32Speaker 1: There is speeches about you.
- 24:34Speaker 2: And let me just show you some vision that's been
- 24:36Speaker 2: released by police of the culprits responsible for the Prohamus
- 24:40Speaker 2: messages on billboards.
- 24:42Speaker 1: They've just released some vision. Have a look.
- 24:46Speaker 2: You can see there that they've captured images of the
- 24:49Speaker 2: people they believe responsible. They've released these images in the
- 24:52Speaker 2: hope that someone may recognize these people. I'd suggest they're
- 24:55Speaker 2: pretty hard to identify, but certainly hope these culprits are found.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Ron. We've only got a couple of minutes, not even that.
- 25:02Speaker 2: But you know, I've stopped calling these protests protests because
- 25:06Speaker 2: I'm not sure what they're protesting against. I feel like
- 25:09Speaker 2: they're demonstrations, and they're demonstrations of hatred, intimidation, and control.
- 25:15Speaker 2: And I'm not sure our politicians really understand this. They
- 25:17Speaker 2: said it was insensitive to protest on October seven.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I think the point was to be insensitive.
- 25:25Speaker 10: James, you're a one hundred percent correct, and you put
- 25:27Speaker 10: your finger on and our politicians are either too thick,
- 25:31Speaker 10: too lazy, or too cowardly to actually deal with what
- 25:35Speaker 10: is happening here. It's a global phenomenon and it's all
- 25:39Speaker 10: to do with hatred of the West and pushing an
- 25:43Speaker 10: aggressive agenda.
- 25:44Speaker 1: It absolutely is.
- 25:45Speaker 10: You're one hundred percent correct.
- 25:46Speaker 2: James Rowan, Thanks so much. Always would like to talk
- 25:49Speaker 2: to you. Thanks for joining me tonight. That's all I've
- 25:52Speaker 2: got time for. But don't go anywhere. Up right now
- 25:54Speaker 2: is a Sky News special documentary October eighth.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Good Night,
