- 0:01In essays on the Gita SRI aurobindo notes that every
- 0:05scripture has both a temporal and an eternal aspect.
- 0:11The temporal aspect is transitory changes from time to
- 0:15time. And from culture to culture
- 0:19based on the societal background within which the scripture has
- 0:22been produced the knowledge gained from this aspect is
- 0:27subject to modification. The Eternal aspect represents
- 0:33knowledge that transcends the specific time and place within
- 0:38which it was produced and remains valid, regardless of
- 0:43cultural background or societal norms.
- 0:48Similarly, the relationship to the human Guru has several
- 0:52aspects. The guru represents for the
- 0:55Seeker, the divine presence and guides and AIDS, the secret
- 0:59focusing and tuning the Consciousness to the Divine.
- 1:04At the same time, the guru is a human being with the issues and
- 1:09limitations of human beings. Physically vitally emotionally,
- 1:15and mentally. The guru in the human aspect is
- 1:19dealing with these things within himself.
- 1:22The human aspect of the guru is not perfect, and the Seeker does
- 1:27not surrender to these imperfections, but to the higher
- 1:31guidance and relationship to the divine presence expressed
- 1:35through the guru, There are various examples of human gurus
- 1:41who provide real benefit and guidance to Seekers generally,
- 1:45but who are grappling with their own issues of sexual desire
- 1:49Greed for money or power seeking after Fame, Etc.
- 1:55Some may be purely charlatans who manipulate using techniques
- 2:00of control and domination, but do not actively or consciously
- 2:04channel, the higher divine presence.
- 2:07Sing instead on using vital Powers, but there are others who
- 2:14are in fact, sincere in their ability, to tune to the higher
- 2:17Consciousness and provide such guidance or influence to the
- 2:21Seeker distinguishing, these two things, the human and the Divine
- 2:27aspect is less important. If the guru is attempting to
- 2:31abuse the guru disciple, relationship by preaching one
- 2:35thing, but exacting the opposite.
- 2:38His own aggrandizement, then an issue arises, and the Seeker
- 2:42surrender should be to the divine presence, not to the
- 2:46human gurus demands. Much of the difficulties faced
- 2:51by seekers in the modern world. When confronted with a guru, who
- 2:54demands, money wealth. Or sex from The Seeker can be
- 2:58overcome through understanding this distinction.
- 3:03Some gurus will manipulate the concept of surrender by pointing
- 3:07out. They are doing the Seeker of
- 3:09favor by breaking through their ego personality and resistance.
- 3:15They cite, the example of marpa and Miller Epi, it must be
- 3:19noted, however, that while marpa exacted heavy physical labor
- 3:24from milarepa, as a way, to expiate, his prior actions of
- 3:28black magic building and then taking apart various structures.
- 3:33And then rebuilding them, he did not demand sex or money nor
- 3:39self-aggrandizement for his own personal satisfaction, or
- 3:42desires from Miller Epi as he worked through the disciples
- 3:47issues, regardless of the limitations of the guru, a
- 3:53sincere seeking trust in. And receptivity to the divine
- 3:57presence in the guru can help the Sadiq obtain the needed
- 4:02guidance and support. When this occurs, the eighth is
- 4:06not limited to the capacities of the guru as the connection is
- 4:10made and the psychic being within the Seeker opens itself
- 4:15to the unlimited force of the Divine.
- 4:20The mother observes quote, if you have faith and confidence,
- 4:25it is not the human form of the guru that you worship.
- 4:29But the Supreme Lord, who manifest through him, give
- 4:33yourself unreservedly to the Supreme Lord, through whatever
- 4:37Channel helps you in quote, SRI, aurobindo adds quote, The guru
- 4:44is the channel or the representative or the
- 4:46manifestation of the Divine, according to the measure of his
- 4:50personality, or his attainment. But whatever he is, it is to the
- 4:56Divine that one opens in opening to him.
- 5:00And if something is determined by the power of the channel,
- 5:03more is determined by the inherent and intrinsic attitude
- 5:07of the receiving consciousness. An element that comes out in the
- 5:12surface mind as simple trust were direct unconditional
- 5:16self-giving. And once that is there, the
- 5:20essential things can be gained even from one who seems to
- 5:24others than the disciple and inferior spiritual source, and
- 5:29the rest will grow up in the Sadiq of itself.
- 5:33By the grace of the Divine. Even if the human being in the
- 5:37guru cannot give it in quote, reference SRI aurobindo and the
