- 1:45Speaker 3: to talk to doctor Casey Saxelbridge Valley about some things
- 1:47Speaker 3: going on out there. So I look up this morning
- 1:51Speaker 3: and I see in one of my one of my
- 1:54Speaker 3: good friends, Tom Payton, and that's good news. But the
- 1:57Speaker 3: second thing is I look up and I see Steve
- 1:58Speaker 3: Animal as well this morning. Now you guys are Tom,
- 2:02Speaker 3: good morning, Welcome, good.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Morning, Ill balance Steve out here, good exactly.
- 2:06Speaker 6: I have representation now, thank you Tom.
- 2:10Speaker 5: You know Day's got me on retainer.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah. Sorry sorry man, Sorry, you're out of luck.
- 2:15Speaker 3: But you guys are here to talk about Tom will
- 2:17Speaker 3: start with you. Here to talk about a big golf
- 2:19Speaker 3: out of that's happening this Friday over at Sleepy Holidays.
- 2:22Speaker 7: Talking about them usually here for the I Ask the
- 2:24Speaker 7: Lawyer show on Thursday, So this is something much more
- 2:26Speaker 7: fun to talk about. So coming up now, I'm at
- 2:29Speaker 7: the I'm the president of the board at the Dumont
- 2:31Speaker 7: Track County wy and it scot depot have been for
- 2:33Speaker 7: a few years and we only really have one major
- 2:37Speaker 7: fundraiser a year and it's just this golf event that's
- 2:39Speaker 7: coming up Friday. And uh, the point is that, you know,
- 2:45Speaker 7: we we do not turn any child away at the YMCA.
- 2:50Speaker 7: We have a lot of programs swimming, soccer, it's much
- 2:53Speaker 7: more than a gym for the summer camp, which is
- 2:55Speaker 7: really great camp high tour, and so if a child
- 2:58Speaker 7: has a family situation where they couldn't afford the programs,
- 3:01Speaker 7: we don't turn them away.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I'm a large child, sixty one year old child, but
- 3:07Speaker 3: you might be on a list if you come to
- 3:09Speaker 3: some of these programs.
- 3:11Speaker 7: But this is our fundraiser so that we can continue
- 3:14Speaker 7: to do that scholarship program and keep letting every child
- 3:17Speaker 7: participate in no matter the financial circumstances. Now, it's also
- 3:21Speaker 7: a really really fun event. So it's a golf scramble
- 3:23Speaker 7: at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club, which is one of the
- 3:26Speaker 7: I'm biased, but I think it's the best golf.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Club in the area.
- 3:29Speaker 7: It's private ordinarily, so not everybody gets a chance to
- 3:32Speaker 7: play it. So this is a good opportunity to play
- 3:34Speaker 7: Sleepy Hollow Golf Club if you want to. It's a
- 3:37Speaker 7: scramble formatt which if you don't know much about golf,
- 3:40Speaker 7: that allows it doesn't golf very much to play comfortably
- 3:43Speaker 7: because you can rely on your playing partners to kind
- 3:46Speaker 7: of speak slack. That's right, and it's really about having
- 3:49Speaker 7: a good time.
- 3:49Speaker 6: So we love about slack.
- 3:50Speaker 7: Yeah, we have We have a morning flight at eight
- 3:53Speaker 7: fifteen in an afternoon flight at one fifteen, so you
- 3:55Speaker 7: have two choices. We only got about six slots left,
- 3:58Speaker 7: so if you're interested in play and you need to.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Need to get on it.
- 4:02Speaker 7: We do have evening entertainment, so we have a live
- 4:04Speaker 7: band on the patio and I know Dave's been to
- 4:08Speaker 7: Sleepy Hollow, I think so.
- 4:09Speaker 5: The patio is just a numerous times.
- 4:10Speaker 7: It overlooks the golf course whole number nine, which is
- 4:14Speaker 7: one of the top holes. Actually, when Fred did a
- 4:16Speaker 7: poll in twenty twenty, it was ranked one of the
- 4:19Speaker 7: top ten holes in the state. It's very picturesque, so
- 4:22Speaker 7: you got full set, live band of the evening. If
- 4:26Speaker 7: you don't want the golf, you can attend the party.
- 4:28Speaker 7: I think it's fifty dollars for a single and ninety
- 4:31Speaker 7: dollars for a couple. You get really good food, wine
- 4:35Speaker 7: and beer is included. We have Sleepy Hollys full bar
- 4:39Speaker 7: is open as well as cash bar. If you want
- 4:41Speaker 7: a cocktail or a craft beer, they have I think
- 4:44Speaker 7: eighteen draft taps. One of them is root beer, an alcoholic,
- 4:48Speaker 7: but lots to do so we're looking forward to it.
- 4:52Speaker 7: I'm sponsoring a whole in one contest on number nine.
- 4:56Speaker 7: It's number nine is a par four, meaning a longer hole,
- 4:59Speaker 7: but we're shortening it up for a small fee and
- 5:02Speaker 7: you can so people can watch you hit across the
- 5:05Speaker 7: lake and try and make a hole in one number nine.
- 5:07Speaker 5: If you do, you win twenty thousand dollars, you get
- 5:09Speaker 5: into the lake, then you lose a golf ball.
- 5:13Speaker 6: That's usually the way it works, Steve, I should bring extras.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Trying to keep up. All right, So where are we on?
- 5:19Speaker 3: You said, we've only got like six slots left, right.
- 5:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I think there's a few in the morning and
- 5:24Speaker 7: a little more in the afternoon. So if you call
- 5:26Speaker 7: today the number you just called a y and they'll
- 5:29Speaker 7: help you out. But if you need the number, it's
- 5:31Speaker 7: three zero four seven five seven zero zero one six.
- 5:37Speaker 7: Marty there is our executive director and does a great job,
- 5:39Speaker 7: and or any of the staff will get you the
- 5:42Speaker 7: entry form. But it's four persons scramble, So just get
- 5:46Speaker 7: four people together and come and have a great time.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And you may be wondering why this imbecile is on
- 5:52Speaker 3: the show this morning, thank you, And that's because the Mountain,
- 5:56Speaker 3: our sister station ninety eight to seven, a Mountain Wild,
- 5:58Speaker 3: a wonderful classic rock will be casting line from there.
- 6:01Speaker 6: Absolutely so I'll have some other cool prizes to give away,
- 6:04Speaker 6: maybe some golf balls that I find out there, as
- 6:08Speaker 6: long as nobody yells at me taking up their balls.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I was there last year and unfortunately, because I work
- 6:15Speaker 3: now in the afternoons, I will not be able. I
- 6:17Speaker 3: was working then.
- 6:18Speaker 6: Too, yes, but but.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I won't be able to be there this year. So
- 6:23Speaker 3: I'm leaving you, mister Antham, in charge of things.
- 6:25Speaker 6: So come on out for lunch. It's going to be
- 6:27Speaker 6: a good time. We'll have Mountain swag to give away
- 6:29Speaker 6: while it lasts. And of course, like you said, it's
- 6:32Speaker 6: going to be an all day event. So yeah, make
- 6:34Speaker 6: plans to actually go to Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. You
- 6:38Speaker 6: will not be turned away even though you are not
- 6:40Speaker 6: a member. You can come see me. Well that's a draw.
- 6:44Speaker 3: So a lot about sponsors. I mean, I know most
- 6:47Speaker 3: of your rajors sponsorships are probably gone, but somebody, if
- 6:49Speaker 3: a business has listened, they like to sponsor a whole
- 6:51Speaker 3: or something like that.
- 6:52Speaker 5: You have those available, Yeah, we got whole sponsors.
- 6:55Speaker 7: Need to get a call in today because we of
- 6:56Speaker 7: course we make signs to post on every whole whole sponsor.
- 6:59Speaker 7: If you'd don't want to or can't play in the tournament,
- 7:02Speaker 7: it's two hundred dollars, so it's a pretty small amount
- 7:05Speaker 7: to get your name on a hole out there, be
- 7:08Speaker 7: on a sign, So on the tea box where everybody
- 7:10Speaker 7: hits from. So they'll get some good Uh, it's good
- 7:14Speaker 7: advertising there for a great cause.
- 7:17Speaker 6: To go ahead, I said, it'll be an eye catcher catcher.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Indeed, indeed it will be.
- 7:23Speaker 3: But Dave Island showing five any live broadheo a part
- 7:25Speaker 3: by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds off
- 7:27Speaker 3: night tonight for the Birds or back at home tomorrow
- 7:29Speaker 3: night for two dollars tuesdays as they take on Staten Island.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Is it dirty Birds Baseball dot com at the social
- 7:35Speaker 3: media If you need more information about that, go back
- 7:38Speaker 3: and talk a little bit about So you mentioned some
- 7:40Speaker 3: of the activities Tom that some of the things that
- 7:43Speaker 3: this YMCA does. But give us a little bit more
- 7:46Speaker 3: can you give us like a and I don't want
- 7:48Speaker 3: to mention names, but do you have any personal stories
- 7:50Speaker 3: of people that you've seen who've been kind of transformed
- 7:53Speaker 3: by the programs that are offered there.
- 7:55Speaker 7: Yeah, we have a lot. Well, we've had kids that
- 7:57Speaker 7: have grown up there and and well, first of all,
- 7:59Speaker 7: we have an indoe pool, which you know allows us
- 8:04Speaker 7: to I think all the Putnam County high schools and
- 8:07Speaker 7: maybe Nitro utilize our pool for swim practice. Otherwise they'd
- 8:12Speaker 7: be traveling used to use uc some I'm not sure
- 8:14Speaker 7: that you see even hasn't indoor pool at this point,
- 8:17Speaker 7: and then to Charleston Wide does as well. But yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 7: we've got a number of stories of kids growing up
- 8:22Speaker 7: there where they you know, we have a summer camp
- 8:24Speaker 7: all summer long where you know, when I was a kid,
- 8:27Speaker 7: we'd say it keeps the kids off the streets. I
- 8:28Speaker 7: think now it's more appropriate to say it keeps them
- 8:30Speaker 7: away from their computer screen.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah, keeps them off the phone for a little while.
- 8:34Speaker 7: That's right off their phone, but it's it's not you know,
- 8:36Speaker 7: we have a base location where we have the pool,
- 8:39Speaker 7: fitness center, basketball courts where the kids come and hang out.
- 8:43Speaker 7: Uh and then Camp High Tour. Our summer camp is
- 8:47Speaker 7: Multiple eight. It's about five miles from our main area
- 8:51Speaker 7: out north Poplar Fork Road there towards Winfield.
- 8:53Speaker 5: But it's it's acreage.
- 8:55Speaker 7: We have a really nice renovated pool there, renovated log,
- 8:59Speaker 7: lots of activity. So it's a I think there's usually
- 9:01Speaker 7: slots open in the summer. If you're looking for somewhere
- 9:04Speaker 7: for your child to go over the summertime for a
- 9:07Speaker 7: day camp, then it's a really good opportunity out there
- 9:11Speaker 7: if you live in today's valley. But you know, you
- 9:14Speaker 7: don't know every child situation, but certainly when you have
- 9:18Speaker 7: kids that you're letting participate that wouldn't be able to
- 9:22Speaker 7: afford to otherwise without the scholarship, I mean a lot
- 9:26Speaker 7: of times they have difficulty, you know, non traditional homes
- 9:30Speaker 7: sometimes dysfunctional on the Why gives them a place to
- 9:32Speaker 7: go and it's you know, I like to work out
- 9:37Speaker 7: a little bit, and you have some gems that are intimidating.
- 9:40Speaker 7: You know, you have a lot of I would say
- 9:43Speaker 7: more intense folks working out there. Why is probably something
- 9:47Speaker 7: gives you a more inviting, friendly atmosphere. Certainly have a
- 9:51Speaker 7: fitness center and we have really good free weights and
- 9:54Speaker 7: things like that. We have you know, exercise programs that
- 9:57Speaker 7: go everywhere from the silver sneakers for older folks. Think
- 10:00Speaker 7: Medicare will pay for that program actually, So we have
- 10:03Speaker 7: water aerobics, we.
- 10:04Speaker 5: Have yoga, we have plotties. Uh.
- 10:08Speaker 7: And then you know you can get more into the
- 10:10Speaker 7: intense workouts like boot camps and things like that. So
- 10:12Speaker 7: there's just a lot to offer there that's different than
- 10:16Speaker 7: what you would get at kind of your big box,
- 10:19Speaker 7: uh fitness centers that you see around.
- 10:21Speaker 3: And where is it physically located and a lot of
- 10:23Speaker 3: people may not know that.
- 10:24Speaker 7: Yeah, so if you're it's it's in Scott Depot. You
- 10:28Speaker 7: can actually see it from the Interstate next to the
- 10:32Speaker 7: the Tayes Valley high Rise, the G ANDNG building, But
- 10:34Speaker 7: you have to go down in front of Kroger if
- 10:36Speaker 7: you're at the Tes Valley or and then turn left
- 10:40Speaker 7: like you're going to go to the Dairy Queen and
- 10:41Speaker 7: it's there. You know where the movie theater is in Valley,
- 10:44Speaker 7: So it's not that term, but it's Carl's Lane just
- 10:46Speaker 7: past that if you're heading east, easy to see, a
- 10:50Speaker 7: little bit more difficult to get to, but uh but
- 10:53Speaker 7: it's still conveniently located, plenty of free parking, and uh
- 10:57Speaker 7: there's a lot to do there. So we're progressing. We
- 11:00Speaker 7: actually have a big expansion in the works where we're
- 11:02Speaker 7: gonna enlarge the fitness center and make it twenty four
- 11:05Speaker 7: hours and and do some other things to provide more
- 11:08Speaker 7: amenities to the members so.
- 11:10Speaker 6: I can get properly pumped.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Yeah, good luck with that.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Good luck with that.
- 11:15Speaker 3: We'll have a special trainer all the special training special trainer,
- 11:20Speaker 3: one that specialized in liver training. So, uh, animal, you
- 11:23Speaker 3: guys are gonna be out there broadcasting starting at what
- 11:25Speaker 3: time again.
- 11:26Speaker 6: Eleven o'clock this Friday, eleven.
- 11:27Speaker 3: O'clock, and you'll be a big part of it. And yeah,
- 11:30Speaker 3: I think you did some of the MC work you
- 11:32Speaker 3: know last year.
- 11:33Speaker 6: I did last year. And then once they brought out
- 11:35Speaker 6: the food, you know, I.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Was And I will say this about Sleepy Hollow. I
- 11:40Speaker 3: mean it's fantastic facility, but the food, I mean even
- 11:43Speaker 3: even the more casual type food, right like the like
- 11:46Speaker 3: they have it. Yeah, it really Yeah, those.
- 11:49Speaker 7: To our food service there if you're kind of a
- 11:52Speaker 7: more of a Charleston night chef. Dennis Harris is running
- 11:55Speaker 7: the food service there. He's actually the director of operations,
- 11:57Speaker 7: so he used to be he was actually Aubrey's I
- 12:00Speaker 7: you're a Saint Albans guy from a long time ago,
- 12:02Speaker 7: and then he worked at Edgewood for quite a number
- 12:05Speaker 7: of years, so folks might know him from there. But
- 12:06Speaker 7: he's he's the director of operations at sleep All and
- 12:09Speaker 7: doing a really good job. And the food is good.
- 12:11Speaker 7: We're gonna have buffet style food Friday evening. But I
- 12:15Speaker 7: assure you will be very good.
- 12:16Speaker 6: Yeah, no, he rocks.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Actually all right, give us the details again, Tom before
- 12:20Speaker 3: we let you go, and we'll have you on maybe
- 12:21Speaker 3: later on this week to talk about a little bit more.
- 12:23Speaker 3: But give us the details. The phone numbers, the websites,
- 12:25Speaker 3: social media. Yeah, you can go bail bondsman. You can
- 12:28Speaker 3: see you can go to the Wye website. You can
- 12:32Speaker 3: call three oh four seven five seven zero zero one
- 12:35Speaker 3: six that goes to the wine and any of the
- 12:37Speaker 3: WHY employees can help you. You can talk to Marty, our
- 12:40Speaker 3: executive director. He'll certainly be helpful. Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 7: Two opportunities to play golf eight at fifteen in the
- 12:47Speaker 7: morning or one fifteen in the afternoon, so you can
- 12:50Speaker 7: squeeze it in the morning or afternoon. And then really
- 12:53Speaker 7: you ought to stick around for the party because it's
- 12:55Speaker 7: going to be a good time.
- 12:56Speaker 3: And again if you can't, if you've got to work
- 12:58Speaker 3: or whatever and you can't get away to go play golf,
- 13:00Speaker 3: you could just come out for the party.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 7: I think you can buy tickets on the spot, give
- 13:04Speaker 7: you a little wrist band, but full band on the patio.
- 13:07Speaker 5: The patio.
- 13:08Speaker 7: There is no better spot to listen to a band
- 13:11Speaker 7: and have a couple of beverages and a good meal
- 13:13Speaker 7: with friends.
- 13:14Speaker 5: All right.
- 13:14Speaker 6: That is a great place. And I always refer back
- 13:17Speaker 6: to Mike Greenleaf because he's you know, he gets me
- 13:20Speaker 6: through security.
- 13:23Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Tom, I appreciate you being here, Thanks for having
- 13:26Speaker 3: me on. And Steve, uh, just go be Steve somewhere. Okay,
- 13:29Speaker 3: I'm gonna go back upstairs and play some rock all right.
- 13:32Speaker 3: So yeah, Oh, by the way, I haven't had you on
- 13:34Speaker 3: the show since the Mountain one Rock Station of the
- 13:37Speaker 3: Year at the Hey Congratulates at the West Virginia Broadcasters Association.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I just happened to think about.
- 13:42Speaker 6: That completely blown away in surprised by that.
- 13:45Speaker 3: So I mean, for a station that's only been in existence,
- 13:48Speaker 3: this is working.
- 13:49Speaker 6: In nearing our what third year, one year and nine months.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, all right, so second math Me and math
- 13:54Speaker 3: don't get along. So so I mean that's that's a
- 13:57Speaker 3: pretty big deal.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Yeah it is.
- 13:59Speaker 6: And if you haven't listened to it before ninety eight
- 14:02Speaker 6: point seven on the dial on the FM dial, check
- 14:05Speaker 6: us out. If you like classic rock, raw rock.
- 14:07Speaker 3: We got Steve Animal and we got Jeff Snyder and
- 14:10Speaker 3: we got Amy Ryan and Hollywood Jeff Patty on the weekend,
- 14:15Speaker 3: some guy named Dave that works Sunday's noon to seven.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Then we have Steve Gorman with Gorman Rocks seven to midnight.
- 14:22Speaker 3: And one of the true legends, Charlie Kendall with Metal
- 14:25Speaker 3: Shop on Sunday nights at seven. So lots of good
- 14:27Speaker 3: stuff on there. We are rock And you've been giving
- 14:29Speaker 3: away cash like every day I have.
- 14:31Speaker 6: I ran out of cash today so today.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Was the last day. Yeah, he's been giving ninety eight
- 14:35Speaker 3: dollars and seventy cents away every day.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Makes sense? Have been coming out of my pot yet?
- 14:39Speaker 5: Yeah? Every day?
- 14:39Speaker 6: But that end of the day I have been financially
- 14:41Speaker 6: stressed by this.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Are you familiar with this?
- 14:44Speaker 5: There? Have you? I have good now? See, I think?
- 14:50Speaker 3: And on Monday he does this random crap prize closet
- 14:53Speaker 3: thing where he gives away you know what did you
- 14:55Speaker 3: give away this morning?
- 14:56Speaker 6: So last Monday I gave away a bowling ball and
- 14:59Speaker 6: a twinkie. Yeah, this morning I found a sleeve of
- 15:02Speaker 6: party cups from a twenty ten pub crawl Coca Cola
- 15:06Speaker 6: glass off Woody Woods's desk that has not been washed
- 15:09Speaker 6: and cheap pair of tennis shoes. They're brand nude. I
- 15:13Speaker 6: mean I say cheap, but they're five and a half
- 15:15Speaker 6: so they're probably not going to fit.
- 15:17Speaker 3: They were brand new in nineteen vintage seventy nine. There
- 15:21Speaker 3: we got a picture of posts on the Facebook page.

- 19:07Speaker 12: Good morning, Dave. Great to be with you today.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. We just wrapped up a
- 19:11Speaker 3: segment with Steve Animal about the golf tournament that they're
- 19:14Speaker 3: having out at Sleepy Hollow to raise money for the
- 19:16Speaker 3: YMCA on Monday. So it'll be nice to talk to
- 19:19Speaker 3: an intellectual after talking to Steve.
- 19:20Speaker 12: Animal, Oh, you're really hard on him.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Well, that's what we do. That's what we do. What
- 19:25Speaker 3: you do with your best friends, It's what you do
- 19:27Speaker 3: with your best friends, right. That's so. I want to
- 19:29Speaker 3: talk about the WIN Academy, and we talked a lot
- 19:32Speaker 3: about that, but I was reading some information that you
- 19:36Speaker 3: put out about the WIN Academy and for those who
- 19:38Speaker 3: don't know, we'll get into what it is here. Momentarily.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Get one hundred percent of those attending the academy going
- 19:45Speaker 3: to college, and that you're the only public high school
- 19:48Speaker 3: in the state that can say that. Did I read that?
- 19:50Speaker 5: Right?
- 19:51Speaker 3: That's right.
- 19:51Speaker 12: We're really proud of our students. All of our high
- 19:54Speaker 12: school graduates are either going to Bridge Valley or to
- 19:56Speaker 12: other colleges and they're taking with them a year, some
- 20:01Speaker 12: of them two years worth of college credits that they'll
- 20:03Speaker 12: transfer in as sophomores or juniors.
- 20:05Speaker 3: And again, that's that's pretty good. I mean, that's the
- 20:08Speaker 3: you're the only public school, and then when Academy is
- 20:11Speaker 3: considered that they public school in the state of West
- 20:13Speaker 3: Virginia with one college bound right, for lack of a
- 20:19Speaker 3: better term, that's.
- 20:19Speaker 12: Right, for the second year in a row. We're really proud.
- 20:22Speaker 12: Our students are terrific, and they do come to us
- 20:26Speaker 12: because they specifically are interested in workforce and careers. They're
- 20:30Speaker 12: interested in nursing or the health sciences, or they're interested
- 20:33Speaker 12: in advanced manufacturing technology. So they come in with some
- 20:36Speaker 12: really clear direction and we work really hard to get
- 20:39Speaker 12: them certifications and get them on track so that once
- 20:42Speaker 12: they graduate, they're ready to go right into the nursing program.
- 20:46Speaker 12: Where what we were seeing was that lots of students
- 20:48Speaker 12: would come to us and still need to take microbiology
- 20:52Speaker 12: and still need to take all those prerequisite classes, and
- 20:55Speaker 12: so we've just moved their prerequisites into their high school curriculum.
- 20:59Speaker 3: And again, for those who may not know, and you're
- 21:00Speaker 3: on with me, a couple of times a month, but
- 21:02Speaker 3: those who may not know explain the whole concept of
- 21:04Speaker 3: the Wyn Academy.
- 21:06Speaker 12: So the Win Academy is a public charter high school
- 21:08Speaker 12: for juniors and seniors in high school who want to
- 21:11Speaker 12: go into nursing or manufacturing and they leave their traditional
- 21:16Speaker 12: high school and they come here to Bridge Valley and
- 21:18Speaker 12: they take college classes right alongside college students. It's actually funny,
- 21:23Speaker 12: you can't really differentiate them from our college students. They
- 21:28Speaker 12: and we think that's a feature that they really are
- 21:30Speaker 12: here to learn and to go to class, and so
- 21:33Speaker 12: that they go to college and that also counts as
- 21:37Speaker 12: their high school. So they graduate concurrently with college credits
- 21:41Speaker 12: and a high school diploma.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Done with doctor Casey Sacks Abridge Valley to Dave Allen
- 21:45Speaker 3: Show and five Vidieline brought to you apart by Morgan
- 21:47Speaker 3: and Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. I was reading
- 21:50Speaker 3: an article doctor Saxson Wall Street Journal from one day
- 21:54Speaker 3: last week, and it made me think of you because
- 21:56Speaker 3: the headline was high school juniors attract job offers to
- 22:00Speaker 3: being seventy thousand dollars. It is amazing, and it's through
- 22:04Speaker 3: programs like what you're talking about. I think about that.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I mean my first job as a high school senior,
- 22:09Speaker 3: I got paid three thirty five an hour, and that's
- 22:11Speaker 3: what minimum wage was in nineteen eighty eight when I
- 22:14Speaker 3: went to when I began my first radio job, when
- 22:16Speaker 3: I was seventeen years old, I was making three thirty
- 22:19Speaker 3: five an hour. I would have had to have worked
- 22:21Speaker 3: like what forty hours a day to be able to
- 22:24Speaker 3: make seventy thousand dollars at seventeen years old.
- 22:27Speaker 12: Yeah, it's interesting here in the valley we see those jobs,
- 22:32Speaker 12: especially in the manufacturing sector, and our manufacturers that participate
- 22:36Speaker 12: we've talked about theme. It's the Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education.
- 22:40Speaker 12: They participate as a consortium and hire students while they're
- 22:43Speaker 12: still in our program and pay them so that students
- 22:46Speaker 12: can go to school and work at the same time
- 22:49Speaker 12: and get those skills and have the jobs that you're
- 22:51Speaker 12: talking about.
- 22:53Speaker 3: So what is this I was reading some of your
- 22:55Speaker 3: notes here this ten KSB. Did I get that right?
- 22:58Speaker 3: What is that is?
- 22:59Speaker 12: It's the ten Dollars in Small Businesses program. It's Goldman
- 23:02Speaker 12: Sachs program. So Goldman Sachs has done this in lots
- 23:06Speaker 12: of places around the country, and they actually picked Bridge
- 23:09Speaker 12: Valley here in West Virginia to try and replicate it.
- 23:12Speaker 12: And the idea is that we do classes in a
- 23:15Speaker 12: really accelerated format for small business owners, so you have
- 23:19Speaker 12: to already own your small business and then the point
- 23:21Speaker 12: of the program is to help you grow revenue and
- 23:24Speaker 12: hire more employees. So we have just finished our second
- 23:27Speaker 12: cohort of ten thousand small businesses business owners, and we
- 23:32Speaker 12: were actually featured in Working Nations, So we've started to
- 23:34Speaker 12: see some national press really look at how do we
- 23:37Speaker 12: help small businesses and how do we help entrepreneurs.
- 23:40Speaker 3: And what I love about this when you tell us
- 23:42Speaker 3: these stories, Actor Sax, is that that's happening here in
- 23:44Speaker 3: West Virginia. You know, we have a national and sometimes
- 23:47Speaker 3: a worldwide spotlight on what's going on five miles ten
- 23:52Speaker 3: miles down the road from us here where I am
- 23:53Speaker 3: in Charleston right now.
- 23:55Speaker 12: Yeah. Terry, who's running the program is a lifelong resident
- 23:58Speaker 12: and he's wonderful and so excited about helping small businesses
- 24:02Speaker 12: be able to grow. So it's been a terrific program.
- 24:05Speaker 3: We'll talk a little bit about robotics. You've got a
- 24:09Speaker 3: robotics program that have gone to Texas for the World Championships.
- 24:12Speaker 12: We do so this is such a fun program. The
- 24:15Speaker 12: VEX Robotics is a team, so we do robotics training
- 24:20Speaker 12: and we do a lot of things in class, but
- 24:22Speaker 12: VEX is a competition level team where students get together
- 24:26Speaker 12: and build robots that compete against other teams from around
- 24:30Speaker 12: the world and the point for the robots. Every year
- 24:34Speaker 12: the challenge is different. So one year they might say
- 24:36Speaker 12: you have to get a basketball into the hoop and
- 24:38Speaker 12: the other team has to try and prevent you from
- 24:40Speaker 12: getting the basket, but the robot is what's making the baskets.
- 24:44Speaker 12: Every year the rules become different and complicated and the
- 24:49Speaker 12: students design a robot for that. And our students, now
- 24:52Speaker 12: three years in a row have been invited to worlds
- 24:54Speaker 12: which is such a big deal and we're thrilled for them.
- 24:57Speaker 3: And you know, again, will the spotlight being all West Virginia,
- 25:00Speaker 3: I mean, robotics is huge in West Virginia. We not
- 25:04Speaker 3: just a Bridge valley, but I mean in other places too.
- 25:06Speaker 3: West Virginia students and instructors have won national awards for robotics.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Here in Little Old Mountain Mama, West Virginia.
- 25:15Speaker 12: It's true. The robots that they build are incredible, The
- 25:19Speaker 12: competitions are amazing, and the robots have so much utility,
- 25:24Speaker 12: especially in industries like manufacturing and even in healthcare. When
- 25:28Speaker 12: my dad had cancer, they used a robot to help
- 25:30Speaker 12: take some of the cancer out. So it's really across
- 25:33Speaker 12: lots of different fields and such an emergent field.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Tell us before we let you go about some other
- 25:39Speaker 3: things that are going on at Bridge Valley that's got
- 25:41Speaker 3: you excited these days?
- 25:42Speaker 12: Oh my gosh, there's so much, Dave, What do you say?
- 25:48Speaker 12: We just got off graduation weekends, so I think I
- 25:51Speaker 12: still feel a little bit high from that that we
- 25:53Speaker 12: had hundreds of students Friday night from the college and
- 25:56Speaker 12: twenty students on Saturday from the Win Academy, and it's
- 25:59Speaker 12: just been set to celebratory time of year.

- 30:18Speaker 17: I get New York Times app, and we had one
- 30:24Speaker 17: on here today where Gavin Newsom. You're always telling somebody's
- 30:29Speaker 17: run for president. He told cities to clean out their
- 30:32Speaker 17: homeless encampment and just you know, do something about it.
- 30:37Speaker 17: I mean, where'd he be?
- 30:39Speaker 3: That's yeah, I mean that, And that can't go over
- 30:41Speaker 3: very well in California, I wouldn't think. But but you're
- 30:44Speaker 3: right because I caught I've caught him on several interview shows,
- 30:47Speaker 3: and he's been a little bit coy as to you
- 30:50Speaker 3: know what he's what he's actually going to do. Everybody
- 30:52Speaker 3: pretty much thinks if he doesn't run for president this time,
- 30:54Speaker 3: he will next time. But he's he's putting out the
- 30:58Speaker 3: right message in my opinion, that that if the Democrats
- 31:01Speaker 3: ever have a chance to ever win anything ever again,
- 31:04Speaker 3: they've got to distance themselves from the lunatic fringe. And
- 31:07Speaker 3: he's putting out the right message. But putting out the
- 31:09Speaker 3: message and actually doing it, Danny, as you know, are
- 31:11Speaker 3: two different things.
- 31:11Speaker 17: Well, San Francisco went down under his leadership. I mean
- 31:17Speaker 17: that's when it started the downward slide so homeless. He
- 31:22Speaker 17: bought it to San Francisco when he was mayor.
- 31:25Speaker 3: You're you're somebody. When you were mayor, you had some
- 31:28Speaker 3: some issues with with with homelessness. And the city of
- 31:31Speaker 3: Charleston still has some issues, although from what I gathered,
- 31:34Speaker 3: not nearly as bad as what it is in Morgantown.
- 31:36Speaker 3: They had a city council meet, well, they had a
- 31:38Speaker 3: city the It was on the ballot in Morgantown last
- 31:41Speaker 3: week to break down these homeless encampments, these tent cities,
- 31:45Speaker 3: if you will, and the voters, you know, opted to
- 31:48Speaker 3: go in that in that direction, well, you had issues
- 31:53Speaker 3: with homeless encampments and with tent cities a little bit
- 31:56Speaker 3: here in Charleston. I don't think nearly as bad as
- 31:58Speaker 3: what they had in Morgantown though.
- 31:59Speaker 17: So, Uh, you're first saying you're dealing with people doing
- 32:03Speaker 17: have anything to lose, that's your first problem.
- 32:06Speaker 7: Uh.
- 32:07Speaker 17: Now, Courier Street has improved quite a bit since they
- 32:11Speaker 17: moved Man and Meal out of Saint John's. So where
- 32:16Speaker 17: I live, it's gotten a lot better.
- 32:18Speaker 3: It's gotten a lot better too because here because we
- 32:20Speaker 3: had a lot we I mean, honestly, Danny, we had
- 32:22Speaker 3: a lot of issues here. Related had, with all due
- 32:26Speaker 3: respect to the folks at Man and Meal, we had
- 32:27Speaker 3: a lot of issues here in the radio ranch in
- 32:29Speaker 3: our parking lot that's magically went away.
- 32:32Speaker 17: Well, when I worked here, there was a house across
- 32:35Speaker 17: the street and the I think Larry Roe's mother lived there.
- 32:42Speaker 17: I'm not sure, but I think, and she died and
- 32:46Speaker 17: you could see the the and the people move and
- 32:50Speaker 17: looking at the house they wanted to, you know, because
- 32:53Speaker 17: Saint John's, you're you're you're looking at their back door
- 32:56Speaker 17: at the front door here. So the Catholic Church brought
- 33:00Speaker 17: it tore it down. Then now you've got something doable,
- 33:05Speaker 17: a new building across the street. It's all kept tidy,
- 33:10Speaker 17: looks pretty good.
- 33:11Speaker 3: When you have these issues, Danny, and when you were
- 33:14Speaker 3: mayor maybe other mayors that you knew, when you're dealing
- 33:17Speaker 3: with these issues of homelessness, people will say, well, you
- 33:19Speaker 3: can move them, but it's not going to solve anything
- 33:23Speaker 3: because you can't get rid of them. I understand what
- 33:27Speaker 3: they are saying. However, I don't see the defense on
- 33:31Speaker 3: how you can let lawlessness just run rampant. And I
- 33:36Speaker 3: don't think, yeah, I mean your heart well, let me
- 33:38Speaker 3: just say this, your heart bleeds for some of them
- 33:41Speaker 3: that are out there, some of them, not all.
- 33:43Speaker 16: People don't believe me when I say this.
- 33:47Speaker 17: There are people making money off of this, and you
- 33:51Speaker 17: would have to get those people to work with you
- 33:55Speaker 17: to give bus tickets to people that are home. Now,
- 34:02Speaker 17: if you find that they have relatives in other city,
- 34:08Speaker 17: then you can see if they'll if they're willing to leave,
- 34:12Speaker 17: and there's some of them that are. That's one way,
- 34:15Speaker 17: but you have to have willing partners. Second thing, just
- 34:20Speaker 17: keep moving them. They say, well, I got nowhere to go.
- 34:24Speaker 17: You're not going to stay here and they go somewhere
- 34:27Speaker 17: else and I'm going to stay here. Finally, you know,
- 34:30Speaker 17: they'll either take a bus ticket or you won't see
- 34:33Speaker 17: them again. But it's a constant battle. And when the
- 34:36Speaker 17: needles were there, remember Charles's City council voted for the
- 34:40Speaker 17: needles when I tried to I voted for them in
- 34:43Speaker 17: the beginning, and then I tried to stop them in
- 34:45Speaker 17: the city council. They wanted them.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Why did you vote for them in the beginning, I thought.
- 34:49Speaker 17: They were talking about one hundred needles a week, and
- 34:53Speaker 17: then on any given Wednesday they gave out twelve thousand.
- 34:58Speaker 17: And there is no needle exhame. It was a mill
- 35:01Speaker 17: and it really almost destroyed this town. But yeah, people
- 35:07Speaker 17: that when it doesn't reach their neighborhoods, they can virtue
- 35:13Speaker 17: signal by voting for a needle needle. The one that
- 35:18Speaker 17: does it right is down here at health right where
- 35:21Speaker 17: you get a needle for a needle and you're treated
- 35:24Speaker 17: as a patient. In other words, you go in there
- 35:28Speaker 17: and you fell out a form and then you're tested
- 35:31Speaker 17: to see if you have a disease. At Cannall count
- 35:34Speaker 17: of Health, where they didn't test anybody, the whole time.
- 35:37Speaker 17: They don't know if a lot of the people and
- 35:40Speaker 17: I know people that went in there with HEPSI and
- 35:42Speaker 17: still got needles, Well, they didn't test anybody for aids
- 35:46Speaker 17: or needles, so they can't say there was an outbreak
- 35:51Speaker 17: because there wasn't. I mean, they don't know if you don't,
- 35:54Speaker 17: if you don't have a follow up and down the
- 35:57Speaker 17: health rate. Thirty percent of the people down there go
- 36:00Speaker 17: into treatment. They said, well, heck with this man, maybe
- 36:04Speaker 17: I just want to quit doing this in health right
- 36:06Speaker 17: will put you in treatment?
- 36:07Speaker 3: Talking with former Charleston mayor Danny Jones, I want to
- 36:11Speaker 3: shift gears for a moment. And people have heard me
- 36:14Speaker 3: say this a lot on the show. It has to
- 36:15Speaker 3: do with the town Center. And anyone who says that
- 36:20Speaker 3: thinks that nationwide that shopping malls are dead, it's a
- 36:23Speaker 3: dying industry. I would say, go to the Huntington Mall
- 36:27Speaker 3: on Saturday. My wife and I did that. Now, granted
- 36:31Speaker 3: it was the Saturday before Mother's Day, Saturday afternoon, one
- 36:35Speaker 3: two o'clock. My wife and I are there at the
- 36:37Speaker 3: Honeys Mall, just kind of looking around a little bit,
- 36:40Speaker 3: and I mean it was packed. It was bustling it was.
- 36:44Speaker 3: And yeah, again it was the Saturday before Mother's Day.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I get that there's activities going on in there. There's
- 36:49Speaker 3: someone we're doing something with the kids, and they got
- 36:51Speaker 3: an MC up there doing this. There's new stores up
- 36:53Speaker 3: to the Dave and Busters and so on and so forth.
- 36:55Speaker 3: And again I'm not I just throw that out there
- 36:59Speaker 3: to say that shopping malls are not dead. There's always
- 37:04Speaker 3: going to be a market for people that just like
- 37:06Speaker 3: to loaf and look around at stuff. But I'm giving
- 37:11Speaker 3: you a magic wand today, Danny, all right, you're not
- 37:13Speaker 3: the mayor. You're just in a make believe scenario here.
- 37:17Speaker 3: You can fix the town center.
- 37:18Speaker 16: Get rid of the owner.
- 37:20Speaker 17: Well okay, but now it may be too late because
- 37:23Speaker 17: I would have kept if I'd had to give him
- 37:26Speaker 17: free rent, I would have kept the or cut their
- 37:29Speaker 17: rent to keep. There's two rest to Tidewater. Yeah, I'd
- 37:34Speaker 17: have kept them there. I brought anything that brings traffic
- 37:38Speaker 17: and uh the uh how are you going to get
- 37:41Speaker 17: Starbucks get away from you? I mean, what what kind
- 37:45Speaker 17: of deals that? But see when he came in, he
- 37:48Speaker 17: took out all the chairs, or almost all the chairs,
- 37:51Speaker 17: so you you can't go in there and leisurely have
- 37:53Speaker 17: a cup of coffee. It was it was hard to
- 37:56Speaker 17: meet in there and sit in the comfortable chairs. He
- 37:59Speaker 17: took out all the vibrating chairs. He didn't want anybody
- 38:03Speaker 17: in them. And I used to go in there and
- 38:07Speaker 17: put some money in them when my back would bother me.
- 38:10Speaker 16: And so.
- 38:12Speaker 17: I'd use the vibrating chair. But you'd have to get
- 38:16Speaker 17: rid of the current owner.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Yeah, man, I don't know how you get anybody.
- 38:19Speaker 16: You don't.
- 38:20Speaker 3: I don't know how you do that.
- 38:22Speaker 17: I mean, it's well, when the last person leaves, they
- 38:25Speaker 17: turned out the lights.
- 38:26Speaker 16: That's the only way.
- 38:27Speaker 5: I mean.
- 38:27Speaker 3: The mayor has said on the show that she thinks
- 38:30Speaker 3: there is a future for the Town Center, but it's
- 38:34Speaker 3: not good. I mean, nobody know. Nobody thinks it's going
- 38:36Speaker 3: to be what it was in nineteen eighty eight, okay.
- 38:38Speaker 16: For example it opened Christmas two.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Okay, or any anytime through really the early to what
- 38:44Speaker 3: mid two thousands, maybe early twenty ten's or something that
- 38:47Speaker 3: actually nobody thinks it's going to be that again.
- 38:50Speaker 17: I went down there at four o'clock in the morning
- 38:52Speaker 17: on twenty thirteen. Place was bustling. Went down there.
- 38:57Speaker 3: At four am. Was at like four am, like Black
- 39:00Speaker 3: Friday kind of stuff or it felt good?
- 39:02Speaker 16: Yeah, okay, it was Yeah, it was Black Friday.
- 39:07Speaker 17: And then on I went down our twenty fourteen same
- 39:10Speaker 17: day on a Friday, slow walking and sad singing. Yeah,
- 39:15Speaker 17: it was just to change that one year.
- 39:18Speaker 3: But the mayor getting back to a mayor good when
- 39:20Speaker 3: she has said on this show and another other places,
- 39:23Speaker 3: Danny that she sees a future for the Town Center,
- 39:26Speaker 3: but it may not be as it was back then.
- 39:28Speaker 3: It may be repurposed. It may do you know, maybe
- 39:31Speaker 3: some shops, but also with something that could kind of
- 39:34Speaker 3: play off the proposed Capitol Sports Complex if we get
- 39:36Speaker 3: to the Capitol Sports Complex, which it's kind of the
- 39:39Speaker 3: project is kind of up in the air right now.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I think it's going to happen to beyond talking to
- 39:43Speaker 3: Commissioner Selango, Tenant and Wheeler, I think it's going to happen.
- 39:46Speaker 3: I don't know what it's going to be as grand
- 39:48Speaker 3: as what they thought it was going to be, but
- 39:49Speaker 3: so better than nothing, I'll admit that. But do you
- 39:53Speaker 3: see a way forward for the Town Center if it
- 39:55Speaker 3: were maybe repurposed into something.
- 39:57Speaker 16: Else, you might have tear it down. You might.
- 40:03Speaker 17: And you got a lot of property there and you
- 40:07Speaker 17: could build something else, but.
- 40:12Speaker 16: I don't. I don't know that you're going to get
- 40:14Speaker 16: retail to go in there.
- 40:16Speaker 7: Uh.
- 40:16Speaker 3: We had a texture that said, I don't think the
- 40:17Speaker 3: Honeyson Mall is actually a mall. It's an indoor multiplex
- 40:20Speaker 3: and a multi acred shopping center. And I had the
- 40:24Speaker 3: mayor of Barbersville on the midday show, Christadum, great Guy,
- 40:27Speaker 3: had him on the show a couple of weeks ago
- 40:29Speaker 3: in the Midday Show, and he talked about what they're
- 40:32Speaker 3: building there. They're doing a training facility on the outside.
- 40:35Speaker 3: It's on the property of them all. But again, as
- 40:38Speaker 3: my wife and I were talking the other day, you
- 40:40Speaker 3: got and I don't know how many people are actually
- 40:42Speaker 3: going to be in there, but you got all of
- 40:44Speaker 3: these folks. I think it's in the medical community. He said,
- 40:46Speaker 3: they're gonna be doing training there. They're gonna they're gonna
- 40:49Speaker 3: have time on their hands. They're gonna go to lunch.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Oh sure, they're gonna they're gonna spend a little time
- 40:53Speaker 3: in and and go to Macy's or go to David
- 40:55Speaker 3: Busters or whatever the case.
- 40:56Speaker 17: Nothing to draw people like people, and Macy's is on
- 41:00Speaker 17: the downward slope. So if you've got a Macy's, you've
- 41:02Speaker 17: got a good mall.
- 41:05Speaker 3: Text says, how can those manipulating this homeless issue to
- 41:08Speaker 3: make money not be charged with intentionally destroying our cities
- 41:11Speaker 3: such as infrastructures. As long as there are no consequences
- 41:15Speaker 3: or making examples of these people, it's going to continue
- 41:17Speaker 3: and it's going to get worse.
- 41:19Speaker 17: Well, get answered your own question, But there's no law
- 41:22Speaker 17: against helping them homeless. I mean, you know, when they
- 41:27Speaker 17: want to get people find for panhandling, can't do it?
- 41:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Well, and one of the issues that you run into is,
- 41:39Speaker 3: and we talked about it many times on the show
- 41:41Speaker 3: the cities that have tried to do these things, is
- 41:43Speaker 3: what exactly is panhandling? Well, is panhandling a less than
- 41:47Speaker 3: desirable person coming up and asking you for money? Or
- 41:50Speaker 3: is it the Little League team standing in a busy
- 41:54Speaker 3: intersection collecting money or the local fire department. It's a
- 41:58Speaker 3: and the courts have ruled that it's considered free speech. Yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 3: if I'm walking out of Adelphia or whatever and somebody
- 42:04Speaker 3: comes up to me and ask me, you know, hey, buddy,
- 42:07Speaker 3: do you have any change. Courts have ruled on that
- 42:09Speaker 3: there's nothing they can do about it.
- 42:11Speaker 17: There's nothing nobody can ask. Nobody can be penalized for
- 42:15Speaker 17: asking you if you will give them some money.
- 42:17Speaker 16: It just doesn't work. Now.
- 42:18Speaker 17: Aggressive panhandling where they touch you or something. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:21Speaker 17: that's a different. That's a little different. Yeah.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Well, you know, you go up and you touch a
- 42:25Speaker 3: lot of West Virginia good old boys. You're gonna wish
- 42:27Speaker 3: you hadn't the good old girls. Dave Allen showing five
- 42:30Speaker 3: any live broads you parted by Husband's Pizza this month?
- 42:32Speaker 3: Get a large Etenitch Pepperoni pizza and I order cinnamon
- 42:35Speaker 3: Bytes twenty ninety nine eating pick up or get delivery
- 42:37Speaker 3: by going to husbands Pizza dot Com text said, should
- 42:40Speaker 3: the city revenue that comes in from the cyclic event?
- 42:43Speaker 3: Should it go to the sports complex?
- 42:46Speaker 16: It comes in from the one of.
- 42:47Speaker 3: The bikes when the bikes are coming here in a couple.
- 42:50Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if you could totally do that.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not an economy I don't know.
- 42:54Speaker 16: No, I know that, I don't I don't think.
- 42:56Speaker 17: So you got to remember the money will go into
- 42:59Speaker 17: retail and detail will pay B and O tax. That's
- 43:02Speaker 17: where you get your money.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Tex says, Hey, maggots, here's let's go national for a
- 43:07Speaker 3: moment before we go to break Hey, maggis, how about
- 43:09Speaker 3: your dear leader's new airliner gift from hamas supporting cutter. Also,
- 43:13Speaker 3: how about the multi billion dollar price tag for having
- 43:16Speaker 3: to clear it of foreign spying tools and build it
- 43:19Speaker 3: to air force one needs tax payers foot the bill,
- 43:21Speaker 3: and Trump takes a multi billion dollar jet home. Our
- 43:24Speaker 3: kids need to tighten their belts and accept as toys.
- 43:27Speaker 3: But the president gets to participate in and profit from fraud, waste,
- 43:30Speaker 3: and abuse. This is Maga America.
- 43:32Speaker 17: I don't think he can take it home. I think
- 43:34Speaker 17: if you give the president a gift, it belongs to
- 43:37Speaker 17: the United States of America. And I'm talking about an
- 43:41Speaker 17: airplane that's my as I heard the law. You know,
- 43:45Speaker 17: presidents go overseas and they're giving tokens and stuff like that.
- 43:49Speaker 16: It belongs to the government.
- 43:51Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Technically, it's not his.
- 43:52Speaker 17: I don't now if they hold it until he gets
- 43:55Speaker 17: out of office, that's one thing.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Well he may never leave office. Oh well, see, all right,
- 44:02Speaker 3: we got to take a break back with more on

- 46:24Speaker 3: Welcome back to the show, nine fifty three. Danny Jones
- 46:27Speaker 3: is here with us.
- 46:28Speaker 17: You know, yesterday at I go work out between eight
- 46:32Speaker 17: and nine and I come home and watch that ABC
- 46:34Speaker 17: News thing have an hour show yep, and it's with
- 46:39Speaker 17: George Chef Monopolis.
- 46:40Speaker 16: But he's never there.
- 46:41Speaker 3: He's like the Johnny Carson, He's never there.
- 46:44Speaker 17: You've got Martha Raddis or Jonathan carl But yesterday they
- 46:48Speaker 17: had Martha Raddits. It was a whole hour on the
- 46:51Speaker 17: Pope on New Pope. And these are people that really
- 46:55Speaker 17: don't like Trump. You figure they'd give a little time.
- 46:59Speaker 3: I was surprised. I watched that show every week to Danny,
- 47:01Speaker 3: and I was really surprised at the entire show. I mean, look,
- 47:04Speaker 3: I'm not saying it's not newsworthy, but that they that
- 47:07Speaker 3: they devoted an entire show to it. I thought that
- 47:09Speaker 3: was little intry. What do you think about the New
- 47:11Speaker 3: Pope being American? Because I'm gonna tell you it shocked
- 47:13Speaker 3: the crap out of me.
- 47:14Speaker 16: I think it's neat.
- 47:15Speaker 3: I'm not against it. I just thought I just a
- 47:20Speaker 3: lot of wisdom, a lot of conventional wisdom of which
- 47:22Speaker 3: I don't have. Of people, Danny said, there's no way. Well,
- 47:26Speaker 3: we never had an American pope, but we're certainly with
- 47:29Speaker 3: the way America is viewed now. And I'm not anti
- 47:32Speaker 3: American by any stretch of the imagination, but the way
- 47:35Speaker 3: America is viewed now by some people around the world,
- 47:38Speaker 3: there's no way. There's no way that the pope will
- 47:40Speaker 3: be American. By gosh, he's from Chicago, and he's a
- 47:44Speaker 3: white Sox fan, not a Cubs fan. He's a white
- 47:46Speaker 3: Sox fan and welcoming pope leam well.
- 47:50Speaker 17: And when he he's not a fan of Donald Trump. Yeah,
- 47:54Speaker 17: and if he wants to speak speak to power in
- 48:00Speaker 17: the name of him speaking the Trump, he'll speak it
- 48:03Speaker 17: in plain English, unlike the other popes. In other words,
- 48:07Speaker 17: you'll be able to talk just like you or me
- 48:10Speaker 17: when you hear the guy speak England. But a white
- 48:15Speaker 17: Sox fan, South South Chicago, it's hard to believe.
- 48:21Speaker 5: It really is that a.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Textures as Dave looks like the pressure on Trump and
- 48:24Speaker 3: the Republicans to drop tariffs. Working Democrats were right on
- 48:27Speaker 3: Trump's failed policies, so the announcement was made, is that
- 48:30Speaker 3: the between China. The joint statement came out the US
- 48:34Speaker 3: and China issuing the statement saying they've reached an agreement
- 48:36Speaker 3: to cut reciprocal tariffs for ninety days.
- 48:39Speaker 17: Let me tell you about an interview I saw last
- 48:41Speaker 17: week which pleasantly surprised me. I watched Brett Bear every night,
- 48:46Speaker 17: the only Iron news I watched on Fox. He had
- 48:49Speaker 17: Bernie Sanders on there for an interview. Bernie Sanders, unlike
- 48:53Speaker 17: folks on the left, he will go on Fox. He's
- 48:56Speaker 17: at town hall on Fox. And he gave Brett Bay,
- 49:00Speaker 17: we are a good interview and he said, look, he says,
- 49:04Speaker 17: he said, what do you think about the terroriffs? He says, well,
- 49:06Speaker 17: I'm for some tariff, he said, but I can't. I
- 49:10Speaker 17: can't just not everywhere everything all at once. I mean,
- 49:15Speaker 17: you start with China. And it made sense to me.
- 49:20Speaker 17: And Bernie Sanders doesn't make a lot. He didn't make
- 49:23Speaker 17: a lot of sense to me often, but it was
- 49:25Speaker 17: a very cogent. It was very It was a good interview.
- 49:29Speaker 17: By the way, it's good.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Tex says, the Katari plane is technically being given to
- 49:33Speaker 3: the Department of Defense. Then it has been transferred to
- 49:36Speaker 3: the Trump Presidential Library for his personal use after office.
- 49:40Speaker 3: You all are splitting hairs saying it's not his personal plane,
- 49:43Speaker 3: but he'll be the only one using it during and
- 49:44Speaker 3: after his term.
- 49:46Speaker 17: Okay, Hawk, accept that. I just know what the law
- 49:49Speaker 17: was as I understood it. I'm not splitting hairs. If
- 49:52Speaker 17: he can get a plane, let him get a plane.
- 49:54Speaker 17: Doesn't no skin all of my nose.
- 49:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:56Speaker 3: There's another one that says that the Royal family offered
- 49:58Speaker 3: the jumbo jet to the Department of to serve as
- 50:01Speaker 3: Air Force one. He'll use the four hundred million dollar
- 50:03Speaker 3: Boeing seven forty seven eight jumbo jets till the end
- 50:06Speaker 3: of his term, and then it would be given to
- 50:07Speaker 3: his presidential library. That's what the text says. Here Texas,
- 50:13Speaker 3: I love how people think folks are getting rich out
- 50:15Speaker 3: here by helping the homeless. People need to stop complaining
- 50:18Speaker 3: and start helping. Maybe that would help solve the problem.
- 50:21Speaker 16: Sure, invite them into your home. There you go.
- 50:23Speaker 5: That's what I've said.
- 50:24Speaker 3: That's an old argument from people on our side. But
- 50:26Speaker 3: I'll say that every time.
- 50:28Speaker 16: Let them drink your liquor, let them come to your home.
- 50:30Speaker 3: I mean, you know your carpet, Yeah, open the Yeah,
- 50:34Speaker 3: that's set your house on fire.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Comes a different story then, Texas. If the Democrats don't
- 50:42Speaker 3: stop catering to homeless and other vulnerable people, I'll have
- 50:45Speaker 3: no choice but to support a party that fully endorses
- 50:47Speaker 3: political violence, unlawful deportations, illegal and dangerous destruction of federal
- 50:52Speaker 3: and state programs via illegal funding cuts, and punishing free speech. Man,
- 50:55Speaker 3: those libs are so extreme. It's like they pardon fifteen
- 50:58Speaker 3: hundred criminals and commuted sentin. This is a sedationist. Dave
- 51:02Speaker 3: and Danny have such high moral standards, pathetic Republicans and
- 51:06Speaker 3: fake independence like Danny and Dave have no honor, You, sir,
- 51:10Speaker 3: have no honor.
- 51:10Speaker 17: All right, Well, I did the best I couldn't do.
- 51:13Speaker 17: I'll be seventy five in August, so I guess you
- 51:17Speaker 17: know I'm on down, He'll.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Tex says Danny. The best show on Fox's Greg Gutfield
- 51:23Speaker 3: week nights at ten.
- 51:24Speaker 16: No, not me.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Well, here's the thing I like I do like about
- 51:27Speaker 3: Gutfield is he does have a sense of humor. Unlike
- 51:30Speaker 3: most people on Fox News, he can't actually laugh a
- 51:33Speaker 3: little bit. I'll say that.
- 51:34Speaker 17: Quick story about Tyros, if you got a minute, all right, yeah, go.
- 51:38Speaker 17: Tyris used to be a bodyguard for Soup Dog, and
- 51:42Speaker 17: he said all the bodyguards know each other, hang around
- 51:44Speaker 17: with each other, and the worst person the guards was
- 51:48Speaker 17: Ellen DeGeneres.
- 51:49Speaker 16: No really everybody said that. Yeah, if you had to,
- 51:53Speaker 16: if you had to work security for her.
- 51:54Speaker 3: All right, tj what you got on the show, you
- 51:58Speaker 3: got to follow up Danny Jones, you know that, right.
- 52:00Speaker 21: Jam packed show coming up at ten o six. Char
- 52:02Speaker 21: At Halprin from Fox News in Washington. There's more news
- 52:04Speaker 21: to talk about out of the Trump administration, I think
- 52:06Speaker 21: today than we could possibly talk about in a year.
- 52:09Speaker 21: You got the China trade deal, prescription drug EO, the plane.
- 52:12Speaker 21: Republicans last night releasing a budget dave eight hundred and
- 52:15Speaker 21: eighty billion dollars.
- 52:16Speaker 3: They're gonna cut it by cutting medicaid. That's what they're
- 52:20Speaker 3: saying right now.
- 52:21Speaker 21: Out of the house.
- 52:21Speaker 3: We'll get into all of that and so much, so
- 52:24Speaker 3: much more.
- 52:25Speaker 5: Sounds good.
- 52:25Speaker 3: Older adults, you protect themselves against severe respiratory disease. Talk
