- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites from the Action Network. I am
- 0:13Speaker 1: Chad Millman. It's Wednesday, which means it is time for
- 0:21Speaker 1: the bookmaker to the world. From Boyd Gaming. Mr Bob
- 0:30Speaker 1: scooci that music is representative of the high We are
- 0:51Speaker 1: all on as members of the Favorites. Podcast about Scucci Chad,
- 0:55Speaker 1: what's going on? Listen? Uh, We've got a huge show.
- 1:00Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about the live podcast that we did. Um,
- 1:04Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about the prop winner. We're gonna get
- 1:08Speaker 1: him on the phone to get your prop up in
- 1:09Speaker 1: Vegas contest. You and I reviewed every one of the
- 1:14Speaker 1: Uh there were hundreds of submissions and we went through
- 1:16Speaker 1: all of them and UH came up with a winner.
- 1:18Speaker 1: There were a lot of really creative entries. And we're
- 1:20Speaker 1: gonna give props to everybody. Um, pun intended. And UH.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Then we gotta talk about the games. We gotta talk
- 1:26Speaker 1: about what the markets do, we gotta talk about where
- 1:28Speaker 1: it's going. I gotta talk about what people are doing,
- 1:29Speaker 1: what their sharps are doing, you know. Um, First, for
- 1:33Speaker 1: a few minutes, let's just recap the glory that was
- 1:37Speaker 1: the live episode of The Favorites last night at Follies
- 1:43Speaker 1: in Manhattan. We're recording this on Tuesday afternoon. I know
- 1:45Speaker 1: I said it's Wednesday, but recording it on Tuesday afternoon?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Is it? Folies in Manhattan. It's on thirty third Street,
- 1:51Speaker 1: right across in the Empire State Building between fifth and six.
- 1:53Speaker 1: They were phenomenal hosts. I encourage everybody to go to
- 1:56Speaker 1: Folies when they're in New York. It is an incredible
- 1:59Speaker 1: ball are great food, great drinks, great space. Um. You know,
- 2:05Speaker 1: I was nervous about filling the place. I'm always nervous
- 2:07Speaker 1: about these events. I'm an author, as you know, and
- 2:10Speaker 1: I've had these events where literally like there'd be two
- 2:14Speaker 1: of us who wrote a book and one person show
- 2:17Speaker 1: up for a book signing. So I always get a
- 2:19Speaker 1: little nervous about these um. But the entire team did
- 2:25Speaker 1: an incredible job. Uh. Let me just give shout outs
- 2:29Speaker 1: to obviously the Matt producers, Matt Ford, Matt Heavier, Matt Mitchell,
- 2:35Speaker 1: who is one of our audio leaders who was in
- 2:37Speaker 1: the office today. He was like the warm up act
- 2:41Speaker 1: um at the show. He was fantastic. Alex Hyath, sinth
- 2:46Speaker 1: Antonio Enriquez, Connor Davidson, our video and audio team. Um
- 2:52Speaker 1: Connor Nulty was helping to sort of organize merch for fans.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Alex Koontz was helping to organize merch for fans. It went,
- 3:03Speaker 1: It went great. Everyone did an amazing job. We had
- 3:05Speaker 1: like two hundred of people there. We were turning people away.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Scooch turning people away. That's unbelievable. It was stunning. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I wish I was there. I do too. So the
- 3:19Speaker 1: bad news is that we didn't get to do anything
- 3:21Speaker 1: that we had planned to do with you, just because
- 3:22Speaker 1: technically what it just ended up not being possible. It
- 3:24Speaker 1: got complicated. UM, but I will say you were missed
- 3:30Speaker 1: like you were totally missed. There are people who have
- 3:32Speaker 1: been listening to the podcast since it was Behind the
- 3:35Speaker 1: Bets on ESPN, and so many people said to me,
- 3:39Speaker 1: I just love Scooch. I've been listening forever. It's a
- 3:42Speaker 1: Wednesday staple for me. I love the way he laughs.
- 3:45Speaker 1: He makes me so happy. All of that. Wow, that's
- 3:49Speaker 1: how I praise, Thank, thank you, thank everybody. Really really
- 3:53Speaker 1: really was um. Hold on one sec and I'm sponding
- 4:00Speaker 1: to our UM props person. Hold on, he's on me
- 4:05Speaker 1: right now, and I'm letting him know when we're calling.
- 4:08Speaker 1: So uh, it was an amazing event. And um, you
- 4:12Speaker 1: definitely missed people like to hear your voice. That's nice
- 4:17Speaker 1: to know. I appreciate that, I really Bill. Yeah, yeah uh,
- 4:22Speaker 1: But it's also encouraging. We can just do it again,
- 4:24Speaker 1: like and next time, maybe we can do it when
- 4:26Speaker 1: you're in New York so you can appear and it
- 4:29Speaker 1: can get people more and more excited. Yeah, for sure,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I am less afraid to do it again, just because
- 4:36Speaker 1: you know of the my entirely irrational fear that nobody
- 4:42Speaker 1: will show up. I mean, it's not an irrational fear,
- 4:48Speaker 1: it's a real fear. It is a real fear. I
- 4:51Speaker 1: will be honest. I hate like having to be one
- 4:54Speaker 1: of the reasons people show up places. You hate having
- 4:59Speaker 1: to you the reason they show up, like one of
- 5:02Speaker 1: the reasons why they would come somewhere, Like some people
- 5:04Speaker 1: like get excited to be the center of that particular moment.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I don't love it, wow, which is weird for someone
- 5:14Speaker 1: with as big an ego as me. I don't love
- 5:19Speaker 1: it either, though I don't like them. I'm i'd like
- 5:21Speaker 1: to I'm more anonymous. Yeah, and yet here we are
- 5:26Speaker 1: doing this podcast week after week. Yep, it's unreal. Um,
- 5:34Speaker 1: but we will do another one. We will do another
- 5:36Speaker 1: live pod and uh we'll invite a lot of people
- 5:39Speaker 1: and hopefully they'll show up and you'll come to Okay
- 5:43Speaker 1: scooch there, let me tell of some of these people.
- 5:45Speaker 1: There was people came from all over the country, by
- 5:47Speaker 1: the way. They came from California, they came from New Mexico,
- 5:50Speaker 1: they came from Arizona, they came from Massachusetts. I ended
- 5:55Speaker 1: up going out to dinner with two fans from Massachusetts,
- 5:59Speaker 1: like at ten already last night. Uh, we were shutting
- 6:02Speaker 1: down the bar where it was at and I was
- 6:05Speaker 1: really hungry, and I said to um, a couple of
- 6:07Speaker 1: the guys that work at Action, I'm like, hey, I'm
- 6:09Speaker 1: gonna grab dinners. Anyone to come with me? And a
- 6:11Speaker 1: few guys came with And when I was leaving, like
- 6:14Speaker 1: these two fans started talking to me, I'm like, listen,
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm starving. I'm going to dinner. If you guys we
- 6:18Speaker 1: want to come, you can come. And this couple from Salem,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Massachusetts came with us to dinner and they were fantastic.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Oh how great they were great, so much fun. Um.
- 6:29Speaker 1: One woman honest to God. One woman came up to me.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Her husband works for the federal government, and she uh
- 6:38Speaker 1: they had planned to come to the podcast together. They
- 6:40Speaker 1: had gone to Africa. They had no WiFi and they
- 6:42Speaker 1: listened to every episode of the Favorites on their trip
- 6:45Speaker 1: to Africa, and so they were coming to the podcast together.
- 6:49Speaker 1: He works for the federal government and they were shut
- 6:51Speaker 1: down and then they opened and so he had to
- 6:53Speaker 1: end up going to work on Monday. Wasn't able to
- 6:54Speaker 1: take the day off. So she came by herself with
- 7:00Speaker 1: a copy of one of my books and said, I'm
- 7:03Speaker 1: doing this for my husband. I promised him I would
- 7:05Speaker 1: get the book signed and get a picture with you
- 7:07Speaker 1: and Blackjack, who you know I host the Friday podcast with.
- 7:10Speaker 1: How nice is that? She looked at me and she goes,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it's to your kindness, right, Holy cow, had is unbelievable.
- 7:20Speaker 1: She goes, also, if I do this, we're going to Maldives. Also,
- 7:27Speaker 1: we had set the over under on women at the
- 7:29Speaker 1: podcast at three and a half. I think we were
- 7:31Speaker 1: at five, and that's women who are not women who
- 7:35Speaker 1: are not related to anybody associated with the podcast. And
- 7:40Speaker 1: three of the women came up to me and said,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm here because my husband made me come. So you
- 7:44Speaker 1: guys would have more than three and a half women
- 7:45Speaker 1: at the podcast. That's great. Yeah, anyways, it was a
- 7:52Speaker 1: great show. I am truly appreciative of everybody that came
- 7:55Speaker 1: and the Action Network team that that pulled it off.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Actual shout out again. I gotta give a special shout
- 8:02Speaker 1: out to Connor Davidson, who does so much work in
- 8:04Speaker 1: our office, and he's a true m v p um.
- 8:07Speaker 1: He works on and I'll take that bet show. He
- 8:09Speaker 1: works on so much stuff we do with video. He
- 8:11Speaker 1: works on just about everything. And last night I think
- 8:14Speaker 1: the whole bunch of people and um somehow completely missed him.
- 8:18Speaker 1: And so I am trying to make it up to
- 8:20Speaker 1: him because I've been in that spot and feel awful.
- 8:22Speaker 1: One year, we won a National Magazine Award at ESPN
- 8:25Speaker 1: and the editor got up and thank every member of
- 8:26Speaker 1: the senior staff except for me. Oh my god, So
- 8:31Speaker 1: I feel about that. The award shows, you know, like
- 8:34Speaker 1: miss somebody who gets forgotten? Right, Ye, all right, listen, Uh,
- 8:39Speaker 1: We're going to call a winner of the prop contest
- 8:41Speaker 1: in a few minutes. It was really challenging. We're gonna
- 8:45Speaker 1: do the prop contest that we're gonna talk about the
- 8:46Speaker 1: games at the end. Um really really challenging. Oh my god,
- 8:51Speaker 1: the level of creativity in these entries is astounding. Here's
- 8:58Speaker 1: one from a guy named Matt at Bobo Matt bobole right.
- 9:03Speaker 1: His prop was about, um, it's and I love the names.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It's all in the family. And this was how many
- 9:11Speaker 1: people will Tom Brady kiss on the lips um if
- 9:14Speaker 1: they win another Super Bowl? And he sent in pictures
- 9:20Speaker 1: of Tom Brady kissing people on the lips um after
- 9:24Speaker 1: the game. Wow, do you remember that one? Right? Yeah? Yeah,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I remember them all I was. It took me a
- 9:33Speaker 1: while to load all the pictures and but but once
- 9:36Speaker 1: I got him and I just laughed. He said it
- 9:39Speaker 1: at four and four and a half, white father, kids,
- 9:42Speaker 1: and Bob Kraft are given, so then it just becomes
- 9:44Speaker 1: who's next, like and then he sent a picture. Here's
- 9:47Speaker 1: Tom Brady kissing his dad. Here's Tom Brady kissing his
- 9:50Speaker 1: son on the lips. Here's Tom Brady kissing Bill Belichick
- 9:54Speaker 1: on the lips. Here's his mom on the lips. Smack smack,
- 9:59Speaker 1: Bill Belichick. Right, they are fully locked right here? This
- 10:03Speaker 1: is insane. Oh my god, were they real photos or
- 10:09Speaker 1: were they photoshop? That those are actually real photos. I
- 10:11Speaker 1: don't know if Matt Bobo has like photoshop capabilities like this, Um,
- 10:18Speaker 1: give me one of your favorites. My favorite, My favorite
- 10:22Speaker 1: was the Scoots Roulette. I mean that that one really
- 10:25Speaker 1: and if there was a way that I could do it,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I would actually say that I would have wanted to
- 10:30Speaker 1: put this one up because it was a layout and
- 10:33Speaker 1: was based on the player to score the first touchdown,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and each player was like a different square like on
- 10:39Speaker 1: a roulette wheel, and he had all the odds. Uh.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Some of the players were in red somewhere in black,
- 10:45Speaker 1: so you can bet red or black, and and you
- 10:48Speaker 1: know the top section, middle section, and bottom section you
- 10:50Speaker 1: got two to one odds. I thought it was fantastic.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I do meet the scene for a second. Let me
- 10:55Speaker 1: set the scene so it's uh Ted di Rienzo uh
- 10:59Speaker 1: wrote I'm a big fan of the podcast. Even spelled
- 11:01Speaker 1: your name right. Um, I'm a big fan of the podcast.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Always wanted to enter the contest, and I think I
- 11:06Speaker 1: have a good win this year. In appreciation of its
- 11:09Speaker 1: transition to the Action Network and Favorites podcast, I proposed
- 11:12Speaker 1: the Scooch roulette prop for those Super Bowls first touchdown score,
- 11:17Speaker 1: first touchdown score. The full version would have a roulette
- 11:20Speaker 1: style wayout with bet options for groups of players to
- 11:24Speaker 1: score the first touchdown. Each player is just like a
- 11:26Speaker 1: number on the roulette wheel, So you can bet on red, black,
- 11:30Speaker 1: each column group of six top bottom. And he actually
- 11:34Speaker 1: submitted illustrations, so like red minus one ten, Sony, Michelle
- 11:39Speaker 1: c j Anderson, Brandon Cooks, Josh Reynells, etcetera, Black minus
- 11:43Speaker 1: one ten, Todd Gurley, Robert Woods, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, Green
- 11:46Speaker 1: plus five fifty is the field and none like girl ahead.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Now continue with your explanation. Yeah not that, Yeah that
- 11:56Speaker 1: did I take it off? No? That that? Yeah, that
- 11:58Speaker 1: was the entire concept. And and there's just the limitations.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Like I mentioned last week on the show, sometimes I'm
- 12:05Speaker 1: at the mercy of whatever I'm able to put into
- 12:08Speaker 1: our our system to take wagers on. We can only
- 12:10Speaker 1: post like in each prop, we can only post one winner.
- 12:14Speaker 1: We don't have the capability of posting like multiple winners.
- 12:17Speaker 1: And this would require you know, uh, you post the
- 12:21Speaker 1: first half, the bottom third. You know that there's too
- 12:24Speaker 1: many too much to post. Yeah, just just great. UM,
- 12:29Speaker 1: loved it. Here's another one that I loved you ready,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I should say that. Um. I just want to give
- 12:36Speaker 1: like as many entrance shoutouts as possible because I love
- 12:40Speaker 1: the creativity that people sent in. So I apologize for
- 12:43Speaker 1: listeners if they're like, I just want to get to
- 12:45Speaker 1: the winner. But people deserve to be heard on this. Um.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Keith len Tiney, who I actually emailed when he sent
- 12:53Speaker 1: this in IM like, dude, I don't know where we're
- 12:55Speaker 1: gonna end up that, but this is fucking brilliant, brill alliance.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Keith Lentini? Do you remember this one? Yes? I do.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Do you have the email in front of you? Do
- 13:05Speaker 1: you want to read it or should I? Uh, you can,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you can read it. Super Bowl fifty three is a
- 13:12Speaker 1: Pat's rams rematch of Super Bowl thirty six, making it
- 13:16Speaker 1: a back to the future game. In the movie, Doc
- 13:19Speaker 1: Brown teaches us that time travel is only possible by
- 13:24Speaker 1: generating one one giga watts one point twenty one gig
- 13:28Speaker 1: watts of electricity through a lightning strike. In Super Bowl
- 13:33Speaker 1: thirty six, Brady and the Patriots began their game winning
- 13:36Speaker 1: field goal drive in the fourth quarter with one one
- 13:38Speaker 1: left on the clock. Back to the Future one prop
- 13:42Speaker 1: will lightning strike twice and the Patriots begin a scoring
- 13:46Speaker 1: drive with one or less left on the clock in
- 13:50Speaker 1: either half UH. In the movie Doc Brownson's Marty McFly
- 13:55Speaker 1: Back to the Future knowing that lightning would strike the
- 13:57Speaker 1: clock UH tower on November twelve, nineteen sixty UM Back
- 14:05Speaker 1: to the Future Prop two. Well, Kyrie Irvingham, that one
- 14:08Speaker 1: I didn't like as much. Let's stick the number one. UH.
- 14:12Speaker 1: We almost chose this one. Yeah, tell me what's happening? Well,
- 14:18Speaker 1: I mean the prop itself is will Tom Brady UH
- 14:22Speaker 1: mount a game winning drive with one one seconds or
- 14:27Speaker 1: less left on the game clock as he did in
- 14:29Speaker 1: the first rematching, the first match of these two teams.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So essentially that's the prop. The reason, one of the
- 14:37Speaker 1: reasons we chose not to use it was the whole
- 14:40Speaker 1: thing was in the explanation. I mean, if you just
- 14:42Speaker 1: saw a prop that said, well, Tom Brady mounted game
- 14:44Speaker 1: winning UH drive with one twenty one or less on
- 14:49Speaker 1: the clock, you wouldn't really get the whole concept. So
- 14:53Speaker 1: we would have needed like a lot of room on
- 14:55Speaker 1: the board to explain what exactly the prop was that
- 15:00Speaker 1: Act to the Future prop. And also I don't want
- 15:02Speaker 1: to get sued by Robert Zemecke's but you know, that's
- 15:06Speaker 1: another factor. But but it was a brilliant, brilliant prop.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Oh my god, that was so good, so smart. I like,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna hire this guy. He's so creative Keith Lynn
- 15:17Speaker 1: teeny um. The general themes for props this year were
- 15:23Speaker 1: age like everybody was making a prop between Belichick and
- 15:26Speaker 1: McVeigh or Goff and Brady in their ages. Uh, and
- 15:30Speaker 1: government shutdown? Will you know X be longer than the
- 15:35Speaker 1: government shutdown? Right? Yeah? A lot of a lot of
- 15:39Speaker 1: Tom versus Time. I can't, I can't all different props,
- 15:42Speaker 1: but they were all named Tom versus Times. There was
- 15:45Speaker 1: quite a few of those. Uh. Here was another good
- 15:47Speaker 1: one from Dan McKenna. Over two and a half years
- 15:50Speaker 1: until the Scoots are headlining halftime of the Super Bowl.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'm going way over two and a half on that one,
- 15:58Speaker 1: way over. But that was a good one. I like
- 16:00Speaker 1: that was from Dan Dan McKenna. Al Right, scooch, we
- 16:05Speaker 1: are bringing in now the winner of our Get Your
- 16:07Speaker 1: Prop Up in Vegas Contest, the tenth annual contest. This
- 16:12Speaker 1: is our tenth winner. His name is David Taylor, and
- 16:18Speaker 1: we are catching him at an airport. He just got
- 16:20Speaker 1: through security. He's giving us fifteen minutes before he gets
- 16:23Speaker 1: on a plane because my sense he's a very important
- 16:25Speaker 1: person and he's got some places to be. David Taylor,
- 16:30Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites. Thank you for your submission. Congrats
- 16:33Speaker 1: on your big win. I feel like this is the
- 16:37Speaker 1: pinnacle of my my bedding career. I just don't know
- 16:39Speaker 1: where it goes from here. Guys, well, hopefully it doesn't
- 16:43Speaker 1: go down. Uh. Scooch say hello to David Taylor. David, congratulations,
- 16:48Speaker 1: love your prop. Thank you guys. So it was fun
- 16:51Speaker 1: getting creative and thinking about it. So let's um tell
- 16:54Speaker 1: people what the prop is. So. Uh. One of the
- 16:58Speaker 1: themes we talked about this if You're a came on, David,
- 17:00Speaker 1: like a lot of themes about Tom Brady and age
- 17:02Speaker 1: and Jared Goff and Bill Belichick and Sean McVeigh and
- 17:05Speaker 1: government shutdown. But I think Scooch and I both felt
- 17:08Speaker 1: like you hit on a theme that was incredibly important
- 17:11Speaker 1: to the NFL and was very sort of timely, which
- 17:14Speaker 1: was referees and their performance and kickers which was thematic
- 17:19Speaker 1: for the entire year in the NFL. So your theme
- 17:22Speaker 1: was referees versus kickers, um. And your prop is what
- 17:27Speaker 1: will have a greater total yardage totally yardage of all
- 17:32Speaker 1: made field goals or totally yardage of all accepted penalties.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And what I loved was you did the research average
- 17:42Speaker 1: penalties against accepted for rams and pats around fifty yards
- 17:46Speaker 1: per game. UM. So I thought that was amazing that
- 17:51Speaker 1: you had that, and that you know, obviously referees are
- 17:55Speaker 1: going to be so important and you had the expected
- 17:58Speaker 1: uh the acted the made made field good yardage and
- 18:02Speaker 1: accepted penalty yardage to both be around. So kudos, man.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Tell me how you thought of it. Yeah, you hit
- 18:10Speaker 1: a chair. I was just thinking about what's making the
- 18:11Speaker 1: headlines recently and how to put that in a prop,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and I just kept coming back to this, this visual
- 18:17Speaker 1: of referees verse kickers and some sort of proposition octagon
- 18:21Speaker 1: squaring off, and it's just I just know I had
- 18:24Speaker 1: to stick with it and kept playing with numbers to
- 18:27Speaker 1: figure out if I can come up with two numbers
- 18:28Speaker 1: that were close to try and keep you know, keep
- 18:31Speaker 1: the line around minus one tin and just landed on
- 18:34Speaker 1: those two. So I think minus one TI might be
- 18:37Speaker 1: a little bit uh generous for the Kickers. After thinking
- 18:40Speaker 1: about it, I think the Kickers might need to be
- 18:41Speaker 1: a small favorite. But all let's Cooch do the pricing
- 18:44Speaker 1: on the prop. What do you think of what he's saying. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 1: that was my initial reaction, just a slight favor. But
- 18:51Speaker 1: I but I like the numbers, and we could we
- 18:52Speaker 1: could adjust it. We might. We might even put in
- 18:55Speaker 1: minus a couple of yards like mine put in minus
- 18:57Speaker 1: two and a half. But it is very very miller,
- 19:01Speaker 1: you know, the expected yardage outcomes. Excuse what did you
- 19:04Speaker 1: like about this problem? Well, like, it's simple, easy to understand.
- 19:10Speaker 1: There's not a whole lot of explaining to do. That
- 19:12Speaker 1: that's always key. It's it's easy to kind of put
- 19:15Speaker 1: into the system and still be interesting enough to where
- 19:18Speaker 1: it can generate a lot of conversation. And like we
- 19:21Speaker 1: said before, it's topical. I mean this is especially coming
- 19:24Speaker 1: off of that Saints game. Referees are very topical, and
- 19:28Speaker 1: we did get quite a few props that had kind
- 19:30Speaker 1: of referees involved in it. But but I think this
- 19:32Speaker 1: was kind of simple and to the point enough to
- 19:35Speaker 1: to where it kind of hit on all the things
- 19:37Speaker 1: we're looking for. David, you mentioned you you sort of
- 19:41Speaker 1: had a vision of referees and kickers facing off in
- 19:45Speaker 1: some kind of proper octagon, which is a funny way
- 19:48Speaker 1: to describe it. Uh. How much time did you spend
- 19:52Speaker 1: trying to research and thinking about this problem? Oh, maybe
- 19:57Speaker 1: fifteen twenty minute thinking of the idea, and then of
- 19:59Speaker 1: course the research I'm trying to come up with pricing
- 20:01Speaker 1: was it was most of the time. And I was
- 20:04Speaker 1: also trying to come up with the prop that could
- 20:06Speaker 1: stay alive till the very end of the game. Uh.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You know, a lot of the props they're decided by
- 20:11Speaker 1: a first quarter or third quarter, if you know, they
- 20:13Speaker 1: go with a limit, so you know that if if
- 20:16Speaker 1: the game comes down to a field goal and that
- 20:18Speaker 1: swings the proper one way or the other. I think
- 20:19Speaker 1: that's a pretict sing outcome for everybody. That that God,
- 20:22Speaker 1: I hadn't even considered that, that is, I didn't need.
- 20:25Speaker 1: That's a great brilliant Yeah, oh my god, that is
- 20:30Speaker 1: so good. Uh David, where are you from. I'm out
- 20:36Speaker 1: of the Springfield, Missouri area, Springfield, Missouri. I like that.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I don't know that we've ever had anybody on from
- 20:43Speaker 1: Missouri ever. We've heard of it, but probably not. Well.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I know it, I know it. I know it is
- 20:51Speaker 1: the It's not the capital of Missouri, that's Jefferson City. Yeah,
- 20:57Speaker 1: Springfield is the capital of Illinois where I am from.
- 21:02Speaker 1: You and I are natural geographic rivals right there, right there. Um,
- 21:08Speaker 1: how long you have been gambling? What's your what's your
- 21:10Speaker 1: gambling background? Give us some history here. I'm a numbers
- 21:14Speaker 1: guy and always been a big sports fan, so I
- 21:16Speaker 1: just natural like both and that just came together and betting.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And I had a great uncle that taught me a
- 21:22Speaker 1: lot about it. So I've just been I've been I've
- 21:24Speaker 1: been doing it probably fifteen or twenty years now. God
- 21:27Speaker 1: bless great. Right, Sorry about that, screws. You're probably gonna
- 21:31Speaker 1: give him buffet. But I'm just thinking about, like I'm
- 21:34Speaker 1: just thinking about like all the uncles out there who
- 21:36Speaker 1: teach their nephews how to bet I had I had
- 21:42Speaker 1: to work in a I had to work in the
- 21:44Speaker 1: uh you know, credit credit to the uncle so he
- 21:46Speaker 1: could hear this on the on the podcast. Does he
- 21:48Speaker 1: listen to the podcast? Yeah? Do you want to name him.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Do you want to give his name? No, I will
- 21:54Speaker 1: do that. Is this like h hush hush thing, Uncle gee,
- 21:59Speaker 1: Uncle Gee, way to go, uncle Gee. We're giving him
- 22:04Speaker 1: half credit for coming up with the propol. So here's
- 22:11Speaker 1: what happens, David. Here's what happens. Uh, You're gonna get
- 22:14Speaker 1: a picture taken of this prop and it's going to
- 22:17Speaker 1: be sent to you via email, and you will forever
- 22:20Speaker 1: be able to brag that you gotta prop up in Vegas. Awesome, awesome, guys, scoot,
- 22:28Speaker 1: you got anything else to say to David? Yeah, you've
- 22:30Speaker 1: got a buffet coming. Let me know when you're in town,
- 22:34Speaker 1: like a couple of trips outs and now I'll definitely
- 22:36Speaker 1: have to stop by the Orleans and drop off some
- 22:38Speaker 1: money and track you down for a buffet. Sounds good.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Love to meet you, David Taylor, winner of the two
- 22:45Speaker 1: thousand nineteen get your Prop up in Vegas contest. Fly
- 22:50Speaker 1: safe wherever you're going. Thanks for entering. Congratulations on winning.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Let's guys, good luckis weekend? That's Scooch another satisfied winner. Yeah,
- 23:03Speaker 1: it's exciting. Love this, I love this contest. Yep, it's
- 23:09Speaker 1: so good. When are you gonna get the prop up, uh,
- 23:14Speaker 1: probably later today, so it'll be up by It'll be
- 23:18Speaker 1: up Wednesday morning. Yep, all right, that's great. Uh. Right now,
- 23:23Speaker 1: where is the game for you? We are big Rams
- 23:27Speaker 1: fans were at Patriots minus two and a half minus
- 23:30Speaker 1: of dollar twenty UM. All of the early money all
- 23:34Speaker 1: throughout the last week was it was all on Patriots.
- 23:39Speaker 1: UM drove the line by Friday. I went to three even,
- 23:44Speaker 1: which I didn't think I would do. But I went
- 23:47Speaker 1: to three even. I was there for about two and
- 23:49Speaker 1: a half days, and uh, I went back yesterday to
- 23:54Speaker 1: two and a half minus twenty on the game. Took
- 23:57Speaker 1: a couple of couple of bets on the RAM, not
- 24:01Speaker 1: not enormous bets, but I just didn't want to get
- 24:04Speaker 1: completely off of the decision. Having him having moved it
- 24:08Speaker 1: from the Rams minus one to the Patriots minus three.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I didn't want to give everything back on the Rams
- 24:13Speaker 1: at plus three, So we went back to two and
- 24:16Speaker 1: a half minus twenty, where we're taking more Patriots action.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And um what size bets? Tell me about the size
- 24:23Speaker 1: Johnny Um. Most of the most of the big bets
- 24:28Speaker 1: that we've taken were in the neighborhood of ten to
- 24:30Speaker 1: twenty thousand, UM. We took a couple of a couple
- 24:36Speaker 1: of fifty thousand dollar bets uh, one on one on
- 24:40Speaker 1: each side, so uh that that kind of balanced balanced
- 24:43Speaker 1: things out. But most of the most of the ten
- 24:45Speaker 1: and twenty thousand dollar bets were on the Patriots and UM,
- 24:50Speaker 1: and then quite a few on the under the game.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Uh in the neighborhood of ten twenty thousand under fifty
- 24:57Speaker 1: ninety eight, we're down the fifty seven on the game
- 25:00Speaker 1: who went as low as uh uh fifty six and
- 25:04Speaker 1: a half and that came back up, So a lot
- 25:07Speaker 1: of money on the under from sharp guys under. Uh.
- 25:11Speaker 1: What about when it got down as low as it did,
- 25:13Speaker 1: did they start buying back on the over? Uh? Just
- 25:18Speaker 1: then we started seeing a lot of public uh money,
- 25:21Speaker 1: some sizeable bets from from but just not from professional
- 25:25Speaker 1: betters that we know of. And there's still some fifty
- 25:28Speaker 1: six and a half out there, and it's it's just
- 25:31Speaker 1: building up. Parleys are building up on either team to
- 25:35Speaker 1: the over. So so everybody likes to parlay either the
- 25:38Speaker 1: Patriots and over or the Rams and over. So we
- 25:40Speaker 1: have much more parley money on the over, but all
- 25:44Speaker 1: the straight pet money is on the under, So we've
- 25:46Speaker 1: got two kind of dynamics going against each other. The
- 25:49Speaker 1: sharp guys love the under in this game. They're betting
- 25:51Speaker 1: the under in the first half under in the quarters.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Everything having to do with the under and a much
- 25:57Speaker 1: lower scoring game than went the line would dictate and uh,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and then of course the public loves the over, so
- 26:04Speaker 1: they're going against each other. Do the wise guys like
- 26:08Speaker 1: the under at any price? Like I see this at
- 26:11Speaker 1: fifty seven and a half, and I like the over.
- 26:16Speaker 1: When you say any price, I mean at at fifty six,
- 26:19Speaker 1: I didn't see too much action coming under like fifty
- 26:23Speaker 1: six and a half. UM, So at any price, I'm not.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I don't know that they like it at any price,
- 26:29Speaker 1: but they certainly think it's you know, I certainly think
- 26:33Speaker 1: it's going to go under. What do you think, Well,
- 26:38Speaker 1: we liked it over. We tried to shade it on
- 26:40Speaker 1: the high side. We um and just looking at I
- 26:47Speaker 1: were we're trying to move to where the where we
- 26:49Speaker 1: think the public is going to be, because at the
- 26:51Speaker 1: end of the day, we're gonna get much more public
- 26:53Speaker 1: money than we are from from some of the professionals.
- 26:57Speaker 1: But I think the second half is just gonna They're
- 27:01Speaker 1: just gonna light it up. I think they may come
- 27:04Speaker 1: out a little tentative. We may see under in the
- 27:07Speaker 1: first half. I could understand. I understand that a little
- 27:10Speaker 1: bit more. Um, But I just think it's going to
- 27:13Speaker 1: turn into a shootout. I do too. I think it's
- 27:16Speaker 1: going to be a shootout. I am decidedly on the
- 27:18Speaker 1: side of um anybody who's taking the Rams either. Honestly,
- 27:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna take him on the money line, um, but
- 27:26Speaker 1: I'm certainly liking him a two and a half. And
- 27:29Speaker 1: if it gets back to Sunday and I can get
- 27:31Speaker 1: him at three, all the better. But I'm looking at
- 27:33Speaker 1: like a RAMS a close game and and over here.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Does that make me square? Yeah? Yeah, I don't think
- 27:43Speaker 1: it sure does on the over it on the over,
- 27:45Speaker 1: it does. I don't think the RAMS is a square play.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I think uh. I think the RAMS is probably on
- 27:50Speaker 1: the side of the where I think that the sharp
- 27:52Speaker 1: guys will be. They haven't really you know, the last
- 27:58Speaker 1: couple of years, the big heavy betting kind of professional betters,
- 28:04Speaker 1: the syndicates and so forth. Uh, they've haven't tipped their
- 28:08Speaker 1: hand until a couple of hours before game time, So
- 28:11Speaker 1: looking at some of this line move, I have to
- 28:15Speaker 1: just kind of keep that in the back of my
- 28:16Speaker 1: mind that, uh, a lot of the money that got
- 28:21Speaker 1: this game to move from minus one rams to minus
- 28:24Speaker 1: two and half New England wasn't the real big money
- 28:28Speaker 1: that we normally see from these guys. It was kind
- 28:30Speaker 1: of I'm just wondering if they're setting up a lot
- 28:35Speaker 1: of books to kind of get as high as they
- 28:38Speaker 1: can before coming in with both fishs on the rams
- 28:41Speaker 1: on game day you're getting played. Well, you know, they
- 28:50Speaker 1: they feast on When I say they, I mean like
- 28:52Speaker 1: the guys that try to manipulate the market, they kind
- 28:54Speaker 1: of feast on a lot of books moving lines very
- 28:57Speaker 1: quickly off of low money. So it's they know that
- 29:00Speaker 1: they can get a lot of sports books to to
- 29:02Speaker 1: move significantly on a game of this size off of
- 29:06Speaker 1: just you know, ten thousand dollar bets that they know
- 29:09Speaker 1: they can come in with ten times that amount on
- 29:12Speaker 1: game day and get the best number and have a
- 29:15Speaker 1: shot at a three point medal. So it's you know,
- 29:19Speaker 1: it's a great move by them, totally. Um, And that's
- 29:25Speaker 1: why I said I'm just real leary about going to
- 29:27Speaker 1: three and they're taking as much money on the rams
- 29:30Speaker 1: at plus three as I took on New England at
- 29:33Speaker 1: minus one, minus one and a half, minus two and
- 29:35Speaker 1: a half. That's just bad bookmaking. Yeah, it is bad bookmaking.
- 29:42Speaker 1: How many props did you post? I didn't count them,
- 29:46Speaker 1: but it looks like in the in the neighborhood of
- 29:48Speaker 1: about three hundred three props. What prop right now is
- 29:52Speaker 1: getting getting the most action? Uh? Well, the three kind
- 29:56Speaker 1: of the main stage that have been getting more and
- 29:58Speaker 1: more action every years. Will there be a safety, will
- 30:01Speaker 1: there be over time? And will there be a two
- 30:02Speaker 1: point conversion? And that draws the most money because there's
- 30:06Speaker 1: such big prices that will take these like ten thousand
- 30:09Speaker 1: dollar bets to win a thousand on the no, and
- 30:13Speaker 1: then we'll take like a hundred bets of a hundred
- 30:16Speaker 1: dollars on the yes. So so uh, it draws draws
- 30:20Speaker 1: a lot of action both ways. And uh and they're
- 30:23Speaker 1: they're probably getting the most um. I find it interesting
- 30:26Speaker 1: the coin toss prop. It seems like more people bet
- 30:29Speaker 1: heads by a by a much larger margin. That always
- 30:33Speaker 1: fascinates me. Yeah, I was on the train. I was
- 30:38Speaker 1: on the train coming into the city the other day
- 30:40Speaker 1: and I sat down and next to me was a
- 30:44Speaker 1: uh penny and it was heads up. I thought to myself, Picky,
- 30:48Speaker 1: pick a penny up all day long. You'll have good
- 30:51Speaker 1: luck unless it's tails, then it fails. That actually went
- 30:57Speaker 1: through your mind? Did it? Yeah? Totally did that safety
- 31:01Speaker 1: prop is interesting. So a couple of years ago, I
- 31:04Speaker 1: think the game began with the Broncos and the Seahawks
- 31:07Speaker 1: and there was a safety and like, how much did
- 31:10Speaker 1: that screw you guys up when it happened? Oh? So
- 31:13Speaker 1: it was ironic because we lost you know, hundreds of
- 31:17Speaker 1: thousands on the first. Not on the first was that
- 31:21Speaker 1: the first play of the game was the first scoring play.
- 31:23Speaker 1: So we had if I think it was fifty two
- 31:25Speaker 1: one that um that the that the first scoring play
- 31:30Speaker 1: would be a safety, or may have even been a
- 31:32Speaker 1: hundred to one at the time. Uh. So we we
- 31:36Speaker 1: got crushed on that one. We got crushed on a
- 31:39Speaker 1: couple of other props tied to a safety and tied
- 31:42Speaker 1: to you know, first score of the game. And uh
- 31:45Speaker 1: and then ironically it turned into our one of our
- 31:48Speaker 1: best Super bowls ever, uh because we needed the Seattle
- 31:53Speaker 1: big in that one. And uh, that was one of
- 31:55Speaker 1: the games that we opened pick and went to the
- 31:58Speaker 1: Broncos minus three. So even though it had the bad
- 32:01Speaker 1: beginning and had a great ending and we were able
- 32:04Speaker 1: to fade a lot of that loss. But then we
- 32:06Speaker 1: had another safety. I think Tom Brady threw in against
- 32:10Speaker 1: the Falcons, wasn't it when he uh he threw a
- 32:13Speaker 1: pass in the end zone and there was a holding
- 32:16Speaker 1: call or intentional grounding in the end zone and another
- 32:19Speaker 1: one and and uh first scoring play of the game
- 32:22Speaker 1: was the safety. So it was to two years back,
- 32:25Speaker 1: a couple of years back to back that crushed us.
- 32:28Speaker 1: And uh so that's why all of a sudden, like
- 32:30Speaker 1: the price and the safety is so much higher. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:35Speaker 1: I mean the odds are really still the same, and
- 32:38Speaker 1: but there's just so much more interest in it now
- 32:41Speaker 1: from the general public that are looking to bet the yes,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and so that kind of gives a little bit value
- 32:46Speaker 1: to the sharp guys who are laying the price on
- 32:48Speaker 1: the no. So that's why I said strong in the
- 32:51Speaker 1: most action, What individual player props have you taken the
- 32:54Speaker 1: most action on? UM? I think most people are fascinated
- 33:00Speaker 1: with just anything having to do with Brady and golf.
- 33:05Speaker 1: UM just will Will Brady throw a touchdown in every
- 33:11Speaker 1: quarter things like that. I'm not sure that I have
- 33:15Speaker 1: just a ton on just one particular prop. Uh, We're
- 33:20Speaker 1: just starting to get so much money on all of them.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I don't know which one is leading the pack right now.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Will you make more money? Will the handle be higher
- 33:28Speaker 1: on props than it will be on sides and totals?
- 33:33Speaker 1: I don't think the handle will be higher. They're they're
- 33:36Speaker 1: getting pretty close. I think it used to be kind
- 33:39Speaker 1: of a sixty sixty split where about of the action
- 33:43Speaker 1: would come in on the props. So I don't think
- 33:46Speaker 1: that that's going to surpass the amount we right on
- 33:49Speaker 1: the game in total. But typically we we hold a
- 33:53Speaker 1: little higher percentage on a lot of these props. So, um,
- 33:56Speaker 1: maybe maybe the win, the actual revenue part will be
- 34:00Speaker 1: higher than whatever we make on the game. Props have
- 34:03Speaker 1: become fascinating, I'm telling you, man, and I'm surprised you
- 34:06Speaker 1: guys don't do more of this in Vegas, but you
- 34:09Speaker 1: should be posting a ton of player props every night
- 34:11Speaker 1: for every NBA game. I'm working on it. Um, you know,
- 34:16Speaker 1: the hardest part is just the the setup or or
- 34:20Speaker 1: the automation in terms of the feed and everything. So, um,
- 34:24Speaker 1: we're working with a couple of companies right now. I'd
- 34:26Speaker 1: love to get it. I saw some fascinating stuff out there. Um,
- 34:30Speaker 1: just book its completely, you know, all the in game wagering.
- 34:34Speaker 1: This will be the biggest handle for in game wagering
- 34:36Speaker 1: this super Bowl than ever before because just more operators
- 34:40Speaker 1: have it and they have um, you know, a better
- 34:43Speaker 1: product now. So I know for us, this will be
- 34:45Speaker 1: the biggest in game wagering handle we've ever had. Didn't
- 34:50Speaker 1: take long, did not take long, No, not at all.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I mean we've been talking about in the podcast all year,
- 34:56Speaker 1: like I love live wagering. I'm gonna live wager the
- 35:00Speaker 1: pole out of this game. I think. I think a
- 35:03Speaker 1: lot of people feel like, you know, especially if they
- 35:05Speaker 1: can't make up their mind on the uh the two
- 35:08Speaker 1: and a half points or maybe it's the total. Maybe
- 35:10Speaker 1: they just figure, let me watch the first five minutes
- 35:12Speaker 1: of the game, see how it pans out and see
- 35:14Speaker 1: if I can get any kind of value on something
- 35:16Speaker 1: that I do like or something that I do see,
- 35:18Speaker 1: And it's opened up a whole new dimension in betting.
- 35:21Speaker 1: I do think live wagering is bad for the punditry business,
- 35:25Speaker 1: because pretty soon it just doesn't make matter, like what
- 35:28Speaker 1: you what your opinion is pre game, because you can
- 35:30Speaker 1: just get off it as soon as you you know,
- 35:32Speaker 1: like I don't. It's a great point, like were you're
- 35:35Speaker 1: breaking down the game. I mean, the only thing you
- 35:38Speaker 1: could do is kind of like maybe break it down
- 35:40Speaker 1: like it's a horse race and say here's how the
- 35:43Speaker 1: first quarter is going to go, a second quarter and
- 35:45Speaker 1: then and then But like you said, once the game
- 35:47Speaker 1: stopped starts, all that is irrelevant and now it's just
- 35:52Speaker 1: what people see with what you know, the naked eye. Yeah,
- 35:56Speaker 1: it's like who cares what I'm saying pregame? Like if
- 35:59Speaker 1: things change, Nge, I'm just gonna get down in a
- 36:01Speaker 1: different direction and try to leverage and arbitrage and hedge
- 36:05Speaker 1: and all the other edges that you know, arbitrage e heggy,
- 36:09Speaker 1: leggie whatever. I'm gonna go for that. Yep, yep, Scooch,
- 36:15Speaker 1: guess what it's time for the premiere moment of the
- 36:20Speaker 1: podcast season, Scooch Roulette super Bowl version. Wow here we
- 36:36Speaker 1: are here, we are face to face a couple of
- 36:41Speaker 1: silver spoons hoping to fun with two of a kind.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I could be the lead singer for the Scootles. You could,
- 36:57Speaker 1: but you're not. Oh snap, you know I did um.
- 37:01Speaker 1: When I was in fifth grade. We had talent shows
- 37:04Speaker 1: in my overnight camp camp Nebagaman in Lake Newbagaman in Wisconsin,
- 37:08Speaker 1: and uh. One semester, one one session, I sang the
- 37:13Speaker 1: Gambler by Kenny Rogers, uh, foreshadowing, and the second semester,
- 37:18Speaker 1: the second session, I um saying Yesterday by the Beatles.
- 37:23Speaker 1: No way. Really yeah, I was so bad. I only
- 37:28Speaker 1: got by because I was so little and so cute.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I used to sing. They used to have me sing
- 37:35Speaker 1: at every school play. Really yeah, but everyone, whether I
- 37:40Speaker 1: wanted to or not. It was like I didn't know
- 37:42Speaker 1: I had a choice to say, no, little Robert Scucci
- 37:46Speaker 1: is going to sing you a song. Hey, I wrote,
- 37:49Speaker 1: I sent you a song. I don't know if you
- 37:51Speaker 1: got a chance to hear it. I didn't get to
- 37:53Speaker 1: hear it because I thought we were going to play
- 37:54Speaker 1: it the podcast, and um, we didn't get to and
- 37:57Speaker 1: and so I haven't heard it yet. So I'll get
