- 1:54Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:55Speaker 3: Is it fangirl? I don't know a fangirl? Maybe a grouping.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Isn't that a name for something? I grew up a
- 2:01Speaker 3: big fan? How's that so? The first I don't know
- 2:04Speaker 3: why I thought of him right away. It was like
- 2:06Speaker 3: the Feast Italians who I was watching to get some
- 2:11Speaker 3: Italians because it's this one is a cultural thing. We
- 2:14Speaker 3: don't always just do Italians. We don't want to box
- 2:17Speaker 3: ourselves and we think of ourselves as a universal uh duo. Well,
- 2:22Speaker 3: we're proud to be Italian, but we're proudly love it
- 2:25Speaker 3: to be Italian and we goof on it, but we
- 2:27Speaker 3: look that's we're very proud to be at and we're
- 2:31Speaker 3: proud to be a successful women as Italian. That's why women,
- 2:35Speaker 3: that's right. So we got Eric di Alessandro, the comedian
- 2:44Speaker 3: who if you're not following him, you need to. And
- 2:48Speaker 3: that's what your Instagram is.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Under Eric Delsandro.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Eric.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Delessandro.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It's apostrophe, yes, but not on Instagram.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Just Eric Delasandra, Eric Delasandra. When we can you see
- 3:00Speaker 5: is an apostrophe?
- 3:02Speaker 2: It explodes? Yeah, I mean you should see plane tickets,
- 3:07Speaker 2: hotel reservations. It's a it's a nightmare. Try try telling
- 3:11Speaker 2: somebody in the Philippines. How does spell your name postrophe?
- 3:14Speaker 2: It's impossible.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Okay, wait, so look, look how I wrote my questions.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Look school, Yeah, I was doing it during my morning.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Where did you get blank receipt paper?
- 3:28Speaker 3: I got a little poll in my coffee shot? Okay
- 3:30Speaker 3: they pulled it right out.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I should know that.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I don't really need this for my first question. My
- 3:35Speaker 3: first question is.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I am not gay?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Oh shit, I saw you do that on your staff.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Do people think you're gay?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 3:45Speaker 5: I'm sure, yeah, yeah absolutely.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Why do you think that is? Why do you.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Think I'm very Uh, I'm very open, I'm very.
- 3:54Speaker 3: I don't get that from you at all, not at all.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I don't know. I mean, I don't care. I'm not homophobic,
- 3:59Speaker 2: so I don't I'm not like, I'm not gay, bro,
- 4:01Speaker 2: I don't really care. I don't really mind. I don't mind.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I mean, it's okay, it's just but I just.
- 4:08Speaker 2: In the past, honestly, it was just I noticed that
- 4:12Speaker 2: if if their girlfriend was laughing at my videos, they
- 4:14Speaker 2: would call me gay sometimes.
- 4:17Speaker 5: But then also, I do have you know, I look
- 4:20Speaker 5: like gay Italian.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Jesus, I do love a little. I get it, I
- 4:23Speaker 2: understand it. I don't know. I'm also very open about
- 4:26Speaker 2: my Jesus, I'm hoping about my emotions.
- 4:30Speaker 3: You're an artist, You're an artist in touch with every side.
- 4:34Speaker 3: What's your sign?
- 4:37Speaker 2: I don't like those things. You don't like that. I
- 4:39Speaker 2: don't believe any of it. I'm a Capricorn, but I
- 4:42Speaker 2: don't believe you're.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Your artistic self. That's all. But you're supposed to go
- 4:47Speaker 3: along with everything.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Oh sorry, I.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Love it?
- 4:51Speaker 2: Is this is this uc B?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Or?
- 4:53Speaker 2: Is this uh someone's grandma's kitchen?
- 4:56Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I don't know what we're doing improv. I apologize.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Do you like this set?
- 5:01Speaker 2: I love it? This is the coolest place I've ever been.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I didn't know this was here. This is unbelievable.
- 5:06Speaker 3: They just opened this like they did.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I know, when I met Sabino and Rocco and I
- 5:11Speaker 2: did their podcast, I'm they spoke about it, and I'm
- 5:14Speaker 2: just I'm blown away. This whole thing is just phenomenal.
- 5:16Speaker 3: I don't that they were building it.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it was telling me all about it. Yeah, it's
- 5:20Speaker 2: amazing when you actually see it in real life. Though
- 5:22Speaker 2: it's spectacor so well.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Here's my first question. Okay, and it wasn't Are you gay?
- 5:27Speaker 3: Not at all? You grew up on Staten Island. I
- 5:30Speaker 3: grew up on Statno, Okay, in your set, I've seen
- 5:34Speaker 3: your show, okay, which I think is fabulous. Please go
- 5:38Speaker 3: see him.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Thank you. You can check out that set on Hulu.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It's on Hulu right now. I don't understand is the
- 5:42Speaker 2: name of my special. It's on Hulu. But that thing
- 5:44Speaker 2: that you saw.
- 5:45Speaker 5: With the Drake Old, I don't understand. Yeah, that's like
- 5:47Speaker 5: what my wife says.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I don't understand this.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he's so good. Do you ever see him when
- 5:51Speaker 3: he makes fun of his wife?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yes?
- 5:53Speaker 3: I love it being married. Do you know when you're
- 5:54Speaker 3: a comedian. Whoever you're gonna marry, whether it be a
- 5:57Speaker 3: female Marian, I always liked the number ones.
- 6:02Speaker 5: I don't think she knew that.
- 6:03Speaker 2: She was just the sweet girl who was just like,
- 6:04Speaker 2: you know, doing her own thing. And now she is
- 6:07Speaker 2: also from.
- 6:08Speaker 3: But you said that you weren't in your set, and
- 6:12Speaker 3: I identified with this. You said you weren't a typical
- 6:16Speaker 3: Italian like you guys meat loaf and frame corn.
- 6:19Speaker 2: You weren't.
- 6:20Speaker 3: It wasn't like the typical Italian household it was.
- 6:23Speaker 2: It was yeah, like definitely not but but definitely like
- 6:27Speaker 2: at the same time, it very much was still like
- 6:29Speaker 2: every Sunday we had pasta every you know, my mom
- 6:33Speaker 2: is comes from a very my my My Italian upbringing
- 6:38Speaker 2: was more about like faith in the Catholic church.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Food.
- 6:42Speaker 2: It wasn't about the mafia or anything or like yeah, yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 2: it wasn't about you know, I didn't have any uncles
- 6:49Speaker 2: like Tony. I didn't have any uncles like you didn't
- 6:52Speaker 2: have none of acco. No, no, no.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Your parents were into like education and and and more
- 6:59Speaker 3: of like getting your advancing yourself. My parents, you know,
- 7:03Speaker 3: my dad was a street guy, but my mom was
- 7:06Speaker 3: very educated in that and that time frame, it was
- 7:09Speaker 3: very unheard of for a woman to get a college education.
- 7:14Speaker 3: She was a writer, yeah she It was like that
- 7:17Speaker 3: was very big deal for my family. And everybody went
- 7:20Speaker 3: on to go to college, which wasn't.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Like that that was the goal. I know. Actually, I
- 7:25Speaker 2: love your role in the Bronx Tail. That movie I
- 7:29Speaker 2: loved so much and I resonated more. My family was
- 7:31Speaker 2: the Roberts de Niro character of character straight and like,
- 7:36Speaker 2: you know, the city worker. My dad was a cop.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But yeah, all my uncles are my uncle. I have
- 7:41Speaker 2: an uncle that's a doctor who's a civil engineer. They
- 7:44Speaker 2: all grew up in Bensonhurst, but none of them have accents.
- 7:47Speaker 3: She's got her doctrines. Yeah, that's amazing, and let's talk
- 7:53Speaker 3: about that too, our accents is. I feel like the
- 7:57Speaker 3: kids are just more gentified now, and I could even
- 7:59Speaker 3: that my own children, my oldest to my youngest. My
- 8:02Speaker 3: oldest sounds just like me. As they die, they sat right,
- 8:07Speaker 3: and as as they got the middle of my youngest,
- 8:10Speaker 3: they don't. They don't have that anymore. So I feel
- 8:14Speaker 3: like that accent a little said that it's dying for sure.
- 8:17Speaker 3: So you know, you have don't you feel it sometimes
- 8:20Speaker 3: that we don't take it get taken seriously because of
- 8:22Speaker 3: that accent. Maybe at times, Oh my god, get stereotype.
- 8:26Speaker 2: For sure.
- 8:26Speaker 5: You guys must hate me because I don't really have
- 8:28Speaker 5: an accent.
- 8:29Speaker 3: I would I can still tell you from New York.
- 8:32Speaker 3: I mean that absolutely, Like I.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Mean, I've also just been told a million times, like
- 8:36Speaker 2: in acting classes or whatever that I'm you know.
- 8:39Speaker 3: So were you studying were you studying act? And how
- 8:43Speaker 3: did you become a comedian? How did you know that
- 8:46Speaker 3: you wanted to be a comedian? How did you know
- 8:48Speaker 3: you were funny enough to have the balls to say
- 8:50Speaker 3: I'm going to be a comedian and I'm going to
- 8:51Speaker 3: get on stage.
- 8:53Speaker 5: It's I have such a long, weird path here.
- 8:56Speaker 2: But long story short. My age, the age that I
- 9:00Speaker 2: am YouTube really started to be a thing when I
- 9:04Speaker 2: was a teenager. I'm thirty four, okay, you're baby.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I was supposed to ask anybody, a.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Guy, you can do whatever you want. You can throw
- 9:12Speaker 2: them outside, you can shoot them, fine, a woman you can't.
- 9:16Speaker 2: But a guy who forgets So I feel like I
- 9:21Speaker 2: had this strange like I've always wanted to act my
- 9:23Speaker 2: whole life. I loved writing. I loved editing. I love
- 9:25Speaker 2: just the whole creative process. I would like put on
- 9:27Speaker 2: coats in my parents' house and pretend I was in
- 9:29Speaker 2: a scene or whatever. I always loved acting, and then
- 9:33Speaker 2: when I was eighteen, I got I got really good
- 9:38Speaker 2: at editing, and I started to really get good with
- 9:40Speaker 2: final cut pro and I put out a YouTube video
- 9:43Speaker 2: that kind of exploded, and then I put out another one,
- 9:46Speaker 2: which was the Sweet It was a sweet sixty an
- 9:48Speaker 2: Italian American girl, sweet sixteen.
- 9:50Speaker 5: It's called Maria Marie's Sweet sixteen.
- 9:52Speaker 2: And I sat there. I did this whole thing with
- 9:54Speaker 2: this girl in this dress, and I was like, my
- 9:55Speaker 2: first candle goes to my mother and all this stuff
- 9:58Speaker 2: and that exploded in like love in like Jersey Brooklyn Statnam,
- 10:02Speaker 2: that exploded. So here I was at nineteen. I'm like,
- 10:05Speaker 2: I have this new weird thing, but I still really
- 10:09Speaker 2: want to be an actor. And at that time they
- 10:13Speaker 2: really spoke ill of like content creator. Yeah, he's an actor,
- 10:18Speaker 2: you're a content yeah, of course, And it was very
- 10:20Speaker 2: like this dismissed thing. Of course. Yeah, but now it's
- 10:23Speaker 2: eating them alive. But so at that time, I had
- 10:27Speaker 2: like one foot in like, Wow, this is actually happening.
- 10:29Speaker 5: People are paying attention.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I get like I'm having some sort of momentum, but
- 10:34Speaker 2: I also really want to do this thing.
- 10:36Speaker 5: So like I just I was not giving either one
- 10:39Speaker 5: hundred percent.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I was like fifty percent in creating YouTube, but then
- 10:43Speaker 2: fifty percent going to acting classes. I went to UCB
- 10:46Speaker 2: improv and I got a manager, and I started going
- 10:48Speaker 2: on auditions, and I always wanted to do stand up,
- 10:52Speaker 2: just because I noticed that stand ups could cut the line.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Like if you're known as a stand up, they don't
- 10:56Speaker 2: ask about credits, they don't ask about dialect coach, they
- 10:59Speaker 2: don't ask. They just say, oh, you're funny. You can
- 11:01Speaker 2: go in this movie. All my heroes did it, you know,
- 11:03Speaker 2: Dave Chappelle loved everybody like they That was like the
- 11:07Speaker 2: shortcut for me. I was like, if you get really
- 11:09Speaker 2: good at stand up, you can kind of do anything.
- 11:11Speaker 2: So when I was nineteen, that was the goal. But
- 11:13Speaker 2: I just never had the balls to do it. I
- 11:14Speaker 2: just I wrote out things. I just never had the balls.
- 11:17Speaker 3: So did your family were they rooting for you? Did
- 11:19Speaker 3: they back you up? Were they okay with this very much?
- 11:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Okay, that's great Now, what was your first stand up
- 11:25Speaker 3: where you wrote something and said, shit, I'm going to
- 11:28Speaker 3: do this in front of people. I'm going to a
- 11:30Speaker 3: real clubhound want to do it? Where was it?
- 11:31Speaker 2: And it took me five years? I was twenty four,
- 11:35Speaker 2: ten years ago at the Laughing Buddha. I don't even
- 11:39Speaker 2: know if it's there anymore.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Yeah, it used to be. I think by the seller.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I think went there with my then girlfriend now wife.
- 11:46Speaker 2: She came with me and I just sat there.
- 11:48Speaker 3: It was so she was at your beginnings.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, she was from the beginning.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, so you got up there were you shit
- 11:54Speaker 3: in a brick?
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah? It was terrified. I was horrible. I had no premises.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I was I didn't even know how to write a joke.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I just like my heroes were like you know that
- 12:03Speaker 2: was my next question. Yeah, like Dave Chappelle. I mean,
- 12:06Speaker 2: I love Ellen DeGeneres. She was a huge influence in
- 12:08Speaker 2: me growing up. She was a great stand up back
- 12:09Speaker 2: when I was like a younger kid. So I never realized,
- 12:12Speaker 2: like the jokes, I just thought they just talked and
- 12:13Speaker 2: it sounded funny, and I realized like there was a
- 12:15Speaker 2: setup punchline. I felt like I just like talked and
- 12:19Speaker 2: then didn't really my bits we're dog shit, but you
- 12:24Speaker 2: wrapped to the Really that was at my first open mic.
- 12:27Speaker 2: That was something I wrote. That was the first thing
- 12:29Speaker 2: I did. It was Drake as a flight attendant. Oh god,
- 12:34Speaker 2: well I stopped doing it because I started a new song.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I used to close my act with it. But I
- 12:38Speaker 2: made this beat which sounds like Drake and uh, he
- 12:43Speaker 2: goes this Alonely take a second.
- 12:44Speaker 6: I need your attention. It's important, and I swear you're
- 12:48Speaker 6: gonna want to listen. I'm sorry they poe us frozen.
- 12:50Speaker 6: That wasn't my intention.
- 12:52Speaker 2: What are you doing? You're gonna take a video of this? Yes,
- 12:55Speaker 2: just everyone's nightmare. It's just you and I. Now, this
- 12:59Speaker 2: is everyone's nightmare. This is on. Yes, this is but
- 13:03Speaker 2: you are Yes, there's only taking as I gotta do
- 13:06Speaker 2: your attention.
- 13:07Speaker 6: I'm sorry, paused frozen. That wasn't my intention. But if
- 13:10Speaker 6: this speech could save one life, then it be worth
- 13:12Speaker 6: the effort. Yeah, there's no smoking on here whatsoever. And
- 13:16Speaker 6: don't be nervous. If it's bumpy girl, that's just the weather.
- 13:19Speaker 6: That pilot Sam is in control to rate nobody better.
- 13:22Speaker 6: And if we feel in turbulence. We're feeling it together.
- 13:27Speaker 2: That it goes on and on for a god us.
- 13:31Speaker 3: You know, I think that you're gonna be a really
- 13:34Speaker 3: my prediction is. Now, let me explain something to you.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I introduced you before you came out. I said, I'm
- 13:39Speaker 3: a comic horror. I followed, She's a comic war Hollywood On.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Everybody that knows me knows this, including Sebastian Manascalco, who
- 13:49Speaker 3: I saw he used to do little sets. I mean,
- 13:52Speaker 3: I followed everybody at their humble beginnings at Crystalia doing
- 13:57Speaker 3: little things in the valley. Okay, so I love comedians.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I think it's your very special people. One to keep soup.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Last night when I watched Sebastian do, he did it
- 14:07Speaker 3: over an hour, and I was like, how do you
- 14:10Speaker 3: keep people laughing one joke after another? You can't even
- 14:13Speaker 3: it's hard to make somebody laugh at one joke just
- 14:16Speaker 3: trying to be I mean, he's a master, he's ammaculate,
- 14:20Speaker 3: He's a maculus. The one thing, the one thing I
- 14:24Speaker 3: always say, what I remember about Sebastian when we all
- 14:27Speaker 3: used to hang out in La, all the comedians, he
- 14:30Speaker 3: was always quiet, observing, always he wasn't ever in the middle.
- 14:34Speaker 3: He was always he wasn't the center, always deserved no,
- 14:37Speaker 3: but when he got up he would be. That was
- 14:41Speaker 3: the funniest do you know, Luca plonk On Tammy Pesco Pascal,
- 14:46Speaker 3: really am I saying it right? I don't think she
- 14:48Speaker 3: was the last comic standing him married.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I saw that.
- 14:54Speaker 3: You. I So what I'm trying to say to you
- 14:58Speaker 3: is I know comics. So I I lived on Fountain
- 15:01Speaker 3: and uh Fairfax, and I would go every every night,
- 15:05Speaker 3: left Factory, comedy Store, everywhere, every comp I was addicted.
- 15:13Speaker 2: You got the goods, the whole package.
- 15:18Speaker 3: You got. You got the looks. Not that a comedian
- 15:22Speaker 3: has to have, and we know that, but you got looks.
- 15:24Speaker 3: So you got the main thing. To me, you need charisma.
- 15:29Speaker 3: You don't have charisma even as an actor. You gotta
- 15:32Speaker 3: have charisma. You have a likability. You have a likability.
- 15:37Speaker 3: You're talented. You every time I go to your Instagram,
- 15:43Speaker 3: I see something different. I don't keep seeing the same
- 15:46Speaker 3: thing over and over again. You're not staying with the
- 15:48Speaker 3: same joke for five years. You're constantly changing your ship up.
- 15:52Speaker 3: And I admire that. It's so important and you're forever evolving.
- 15:57Speaker 3: You're getting better and better, and I just think that
- 16:02Speaker 3: I see you being successful. Now here's my question to you,
- 16:05Speaker 3: what would you consider being What do you consider successful?
- 16:11Speaker 2: That's actually it's funny that you say that, because as
- 16:13Speaker 2: you're saying that, I'm thinking, like, I'm not rich by
- 16:17Speaker 2: any means, but I make way more money than I
- 16:21Speaker 2: ever thought possible at my level. Oh wow, Like so
- 16:24Speaker 2: my wife doesn't work.
- 16:26Speaker 3: You're making a living. W two is the saying comedian
- 16:29Speaker 3: at the end of the year.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Yeah, done it, And to me, that's it and you're
- 16:33Speaker 2: doing what you love. I actually lived in La two
- 16:36Speaker 2: for a little while, and I remember I lived in
- 16:39Speaker 2: Hollywood right by the Hollywood and argyle, okay, I know,
- 16:42Speaker 2: right by the fountain of the Capitol Records billiing, Yes,
- 16:45Speaker 2: I know exactly where you lived to anyway, I remember
- 16:49Speaker 2: I moved out there when I was twenty eight. This
- 16:51Speaker 2: was six years ago, and I like, I tried so
- 16:55Speaker 2: many things, and it was just like I said, because
- 16:56Speaker 2: I was all over the place. That's kind of a curse.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I tried to make I tried to have a music career.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I tried to be an actor. I tried to be
- 17:03Speaker 2: a comedian. I tried to be a sketch comedy guy.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I tried to be a trade but it was it
- 17:09Speaker 2: was it was like it was I didn't have much
- 17:11Speaker 2: at action. Yeah I would have. I would have general
- 17:13Speaker 2: meetings in LA with these like good people and they'd
- 17:15Speaker 2: be like, what do you want to do and I'd
- 17:16Speaker 2: be like anything, and they're like, I don't have to
- 17:18Speaker 2: help you. I don't have a kid. I didn't have
- 17:20Speaker 2: like a And that's why stand up was so great
- 17:22Speaker 2: to me, because it was finally something that okay, now
- 17:24Speaker 2: I know it, like to what's a channel? And a
- 17:29Speaker 2: week literally the week I.
- 17:32Speaker 5: My my wife and I she came, she moved to
- 17:34Speaker 5: LA with me.
- 17:35Speaker 2: I got called for the FD and Y and it
- 17:39Speaker 2: was like, you're I took the test and my dad
- 17:41Speaker 2: is guy from Brooklyn and Union pension benefits. Oh yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 2: And so.
- 17:46Speaker 3: That's why I asked, did they support you with this?
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm really lucky. Yeah, but like that I
- 17:52Speaker 2: literally was it was. He was like calling me, they
- 17:55Speaker 2: give you like a recruiter to make sure you get on.
- 17:57Speaker 2: And I had this really great guy from my neighborhood
- 17:59Speaker 2: and I'm like, this is it if I'm either going
- 18:02Speaker 2: to go for this or I'm gonna like it was
- 18:04Speaker 2: scary as ship, so like I did everything to survive there.
- 18:07Speaker 5: I remember thinking, like I did it.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I had a show and I'm like this is like
- 18:11Speaker 2: this is this is rent for a couple of months.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So like I kept thinking, if I could just that's
- 18:15Speaker 2: it for me, you know, to be able to.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Keep that going.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Yeah, So when she got to quit her job, it
- 18:21Speaker 2: was the greatest day of my life. When I've been
- 18:23Speaker 2: to Italy because a stand up. I mean, I was
- 18:25Speaker 2: got married, all of these incredible things. I'm really really lucky.
- 18:29Speaker 2: And then the anxiety is like it could end any minute.
- 18:32Speaker 2: It could end any minute. So I have.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Even as actors guarantee for anything in like I have
- 18:41Speaker 3: a business. I mean right now, you know tomorrow it
- 18:44Speaker 3: could be taken away from me, So you can't it
- 18:46Speaker 3: doesn't matter. There's no guarantees, guarantee for anything. Enjoy what
- 18:51Speaker 3: you're doing. My grandmoma always said, she goes, if you
- 18:53Speaker 3: love what you do, you'll never work.
- 18:56Speaker 2: It's it's really true. I said to my after the
- 18:58Speaker 2: other day, I'm like, I haven't had that feeling of
- 19:02Speaker 2: like I have to go do something I don't want
- 19:04Speaker 2: to do in six years.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Since I since I moved with jobs you take now,
- 19:10Speaker 3: Like what do you mean selective? Like whereat don't have.
- 19:13Speaker 2: So many choices? Like, well, it depends like if there's
- 19:17Speaker 2: a there's a one off, if there's a show that's.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Paying five hundred dollars in Kansas City.
- 19:21Speaker 3: No, I'm not gonna you're not doing but the old
- 19:24Speaker 3: when you were starting out, you would have did it right.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Oh my god. I did focus groups in La Literally,
- 19:29Speaker 2: I'd go there and you talk about uber. I'm like,
- 19:31Speaker 2: and they give you like a two hundred dollars gift.
- 19:33Speaker 2: You had to go to Whole Foods and buy two
- 19:36Speaker 2: pieces of bread because everything's so expensive there. Yeah, So
- 19:40Speaker 2: the fact that that is uh, I pinched myself sometimes.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I also like you get ads from like TikTok or
- 19:47Speaker 2: something like where.
- 19:48Speaker 5: I remember I did one for a.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Cereal for a Kellogg cereal I made, I wrote, I
- 19:53Speaker 2: wrote a script, I submitted it, they approved it, and
- 19:55Speaker 2: I made it in my guest bedroom. I came outside,
- 19:57Speaker 2: I told my wife, I'm like, this is how cool?
- 20:00Speaker 2: Is holy?
- 20:01Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:02Speaker 2: How cool is this? Like? I wrote it, I directed it,
- 20:04Speaker 2: I edited it's all what I want to do. I'm
- 20:06Speaker 2: proud of it. This is what I was doing as
- 20:08Speaker 2: a kid, making videos pretending.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I'm now you're a big kid, and I'm kids.
- 20:12Speaker 2: It's identical, Like, yeah, I'm not on a set like
- 20:14Speaker 2: I wish I was, and I'm not doing it with whoever.
- 20:17Speaker 2: But like it's almost cooler this way I've been on sets.
- 20:20Speaker 2: It's pretty.
- 20:21Speaker 3: It's amazing.
- 20:22Speaker 5: It's pretty like tiring and long, and.
- 20:25Speaker 3: But isn't amazing how everything evolved into now that there's
- 20:28Speaker 3: these big companies now just going to like tracking people
- 20:32Speaker 3: down on social media. Now it's like when we were kids,
- 20:35Speaker 3: we had five stations. Oh yeah, that was it, and
- 20:38Speaker 3: that's all we had to watch. And thirty forty million
- 20:42Speaker 3: people watch one show. That's that has such power. Yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 3: it's the power they have. And now it's like if
- 20:47Speaker 3: you could hold a million or two million something, nobody's attention,
- 20:51Speaker 3: nobody's not the attention anything is in this phone course.
- 20:55Speaker 3: And the kids they don't even they can't even sit
- 20:56Speaker 3: and watch something for thirty minutes. It's like all right, time,
- 20:59Speaker 3: sac boom. If you don't get everything you needed to
- 21:02Speaker 3: tell me, and that that ten seconds and done.
- 21:04Speaker 2: So you know what's kind of funny about that? Though,
- 21:06Speaker 2: that actually taught me how to be a better writer.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I remember when so when I moved to La I
- 21:12Speaker 2: was just trying to survive, and I was I would
- 21:13Speaker 2: go to the comedy store and they good luck getting
- 21:17Speaker 2: unopened mic there. It's just it's all politics, it's all
- 21:20Speaker 2: who you know. And there's like four hundred people outside.
- 21:23Speaker 2: They have like the pot luck they lift your heat. Yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 2: but seven of the comedians are doing it every week.
- 21:29Speaker 2: It's like and they also work here. Yeah, And I'm like,
- 21:32Speaker 2: I'm never gonna get picked for this. So I remember thinking,
- 21:34Speaker 2: like what if I I had these jokes that I wrote.
- 21:37Speaker 2: It's like, what if I did them on Instagram instead
- 21:39Speaker 2: of on stage? I have like ten thousand followers, So
- 21:42Speaker 2: what if I took this five minute or whatever? And
- 21:44Speaker 2: at that point, you could only make a video a minute, right, Like, Okay,
- 21:48Speaker 2: I have to make this what I thought was six minutes.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I have to squeeze it to sixty seconds, cut out
- 21:52Speaker 2: all the bullshit, and make it.
- 21:54Speaker 5: As strong as it possibly can be.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Flowers, And that's what made me able to like that
- 21:58Speaker 2: short attention span. I was to like capitalize on that. Yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 2: I'm a victim of it as well. It's just you know,
- 22:06Speaker 2: adapt or die. I don't know.
- 22:07Speaker 3: So where are you going to be now? Where are
- 22:09Speaker 3: your shows? Where are you?
- 22:10Speaker 2: I'm everywhere? For a while, I had off because I
- 22:13Speaker 2: just had my son, so I was to come to
- 22:16Speaker 2: please please, I have around this area. I'm doing Stroudsburg,
- 22:19Speaker 2: Pennsylvania this Saturday. I have a bunch coming up.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I have What are you playing in Jersey?
- 22:26Speaker 5: So I'm doing Marstown Red Bank?
- 22:30Speaker 2: Marstown is in October. I think they're both in October. Marstown,
- 22:35Speaker 2: Red Bank. It's the Saint George Theater, gorgeous venue in
- 22:39Speaker 2: staten Is. Hometown shows are always incredible. I'm doing Westernayak
- 22:43Speaker 2: where you came to see me that club again locally
- 22:46Speaker 2: and I don't have to check my website. I have
- 22:48Speaker 2: no idea.
- 22:48Speaker 5: I never I never really know.
- 22:49Speaker 3: So are you still acting?
- 22:51Speaker 2: I'm trying.
- 22:52Speaker 5: I I I do self tapes. I'm trying.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I just have.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Good agents now.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I like him. Yeah, I don't know how. I don't
- 23:02Speaker 2: know how plugged in you have to be. I don't know.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I don't know how. What percentage of it is? Who
- 23:06Speaker 2: you know I'm sure it's still crazy, especially now. I
- 23:09Speaker 2: don't have any quota that they're you know, I've been
- 23:11Speaker 2: told I'm too white for this part.
- 23:15Speaker 5: But it was.
- 23:17Speaker 3: His favorite comedian right now, like one of your top
- 23:19Speaker 3: right now?
- 23:20Speaker 2: Like doing it comedy? Oh man, that's a good question.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I mean, I love I love Sebastian.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Do you watch comedy specials? Yeah?
- 23:29Speaker 2: Of course.
- 23:30Speaker 3: What comedy special do you recommend?
- 23:33Speaker 5: Shane Gillis beautiful dogs?
- 23:35Speaker 2: Really, he's fantastic.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Let you know him? No I do, but I mean,
- 23:40Speaker 3: I mean you. I meant to say you watched it.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I didn't watch the whole thing, but I've seen obviously clips.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Why he's like the guy right.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, right now. You always tell me about him homeless pimp.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I love him too. He's such a great guy.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Who was who is your your iconic besides David Chappelle,
- 24:00Speaker 3: which he's the best. His show was the best.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Funny him in like two thousand and three.
- 24:05Speaker 2: There's no one better now in history.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Uh. I liked when he played Rick James. I was like,
- 24:09Speaker 3: my your favorite. But how do you feel today about
- 24:12Speaker 3: half the being centered because of the woke wollness? Does
- 24:16Speaker 3: that interrupt who you really are and what you really
- 24:18Speaker 3: want to say.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm I'm I'm a bit of a I'm
- 24:23Speaker 2: scared that like I'm going to say the wrong thing.
- 24:24Speaker 3: And isn't that horrible?
- 24:28Speaker 2: It is horrible, it is I mean, it depends what
- 24:30Speaker 2: it is. Like if I'm truly I still get shipped.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I mean, I may. I put out this song last
- 24:36Speaker 2: week or two weeks ago. It was a joke about
- 24:39Speaker 2: how you know, I just read the definition of man's
- 24:41Speaker 2: plaining and it sounds a lot like my wife explaining things.
- 24:46Speaker 2: So that was the joke. That was the joke, and
- 24:49Speaker 2: all these feminists went and I'm like, shut up, ridiculous.
- 24:53Speaker 2: It's like, you don't get the joke. You don't get
- 24:55Speaker 2: the joke.
- 24:55Speaker 3: They have no sense of you. And that's the problem
- 24:58Speaker 3: today is that people cannot for themselves, like you see,
- 25:01Speaker 3: we're too powerful women. And I think that's hilarious.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I think that because you're understand you.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Can't take jokes personal. No jokes are like first of all,
- 25:14Speaker 3: especially when you go to you see people who just
- 25:17Speaker 3: recently had to fight with one of the people heckled him,
- 25:21Speaker 3: got up and he was like, ye, don't let the
- 25:22Speaker 3: fuck do I think that was? David Chappelle did that
- 25:26Speaker 3: at one of his shows. He told somebody, there's so
- 25:28Speaker 3: many now like he because he doesn't tolerate that crap.
- 25:31Speaker 3: He just hasn't you know. He says what he wants
- 25:33Speaker 3: to Why would you go knowing that you're going to
- 25:35Speaker 3: do that? Why would you go? You don't belong to
- 25:37Speaker 3: the comedy show. You go watch Anne do standard.
- 25:41Speaker 2: It's very weird that they It's very strange.
- 25:44Speaker 3: I almost want to get insulted so they have something
- 25:46Speaker 3: to complain about. When maybe it's that moment they get
- 25:49Speaker 3: the camera on them, they know they're going to be
- 25:51Speaker 3: on to be a cameras somebody's.
- 25:53Speaker 2: This is not someone who's fulfilled in their life. It's
- 25:55Speaker 2: not someone who wakes up and is happy and has
- 25:57Speaker 2: good relationships. This is someone who's has a lot of
- 26:00Speaker 2: albums that they don't want to talk about.
- 26:01Speaker 5: They have to like, it's tough going to therapy.
- 26:04Speaker 3: So there were no censors, would your comedy be completely
- 26:08Speaker 3: different than it is?
- 26:09Speaker 2: So I don't really I don't censor myself, and when
- 26:11Speaker 2: I'm on stage, I go for it. I don't give
- 26:13Speaker 2: a shit when I'm on stage. But like there there
- 26:15Speaker 2: will be times when like I have anxiety about stuff,
- 26:19Speaker 2: and I'm like, you know, I have to get over that.
- 26:23Speaker 2: That's my own problem. But like I don't really on stage.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I certainly don't if it's a video. I'm afraid that,
- 26:30Speaker 2: like because I haven't gotten to like, like we're mentioning
- 26:34Speaker 2: Sebastian a lot. I mean, he he's kind of the
- 26:38Speaker 2: only one really who just sort of he did explode
- 26:41Speaker 2: very quickly over like on like his one of his
- 26:44Speaker 2: bits went crazy on Facebook. But like everybody that you
- 26:46Speaker 2: know has like sort of a thing that puts them
- 26:48Speaker 2: on the map. Yeah you can kind of like not
- 26:52Speaker 2: that not that they made it their safe, but they
- 26:54Speaker 2: kind of get to a place where it's like I'm established.
- 26:56Speaker 2: You can't take this away from me. I'm worried that
- 26:58Speaker 2: like people could just like misinterpret something and then if
- 27:01Speaker 2: I lose followers, I can't make money. I'm dead. So
- 27:03Speaker 2: like that's something that I have.
- 27:05Speaker 3: But isn't guys really screwed up to have to feel
- 27:07Speaker 3: that way. It's like it's you know what I mean,
- 27:09Speaker 3: Like I mean, I'm going to talk about it from
- 27:12Speaker 3: a business point of view, Like even you don't want
- 27:15Speaker 3: to say anything, do anything to like even have that
- 27:19Speaker 3: little bit of somebody thinking you're going to insult somebody
- 27:22Speaker 3: or whatever, but no one, No one's who the hell
- 27:24Speaker 3: people look for it?
- 27:26Speaker 2: Who's perfect?
- 27:27Speaker 3: Nobody?
- 27:27Speaker 2: If you look at if you look at anybody who's
- 27:29Speaker 2: offended with something, there is someone that they love that
- 27:32Speaker 2: disrupted the status quote that they celebrated.
- 27:35Speaker 5: Meaning if they grew up and they thought religion was oppressive.
- 27:38Speaker 2: They loved the anti God movement, even though that defended
- 27:42Speaker 2: my grandma. But they were like.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Good, defensive is good, right, but now it offends them.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Offensive is bad. It's like and plus, no one is
- 27:49Speaker 2: worthy of redemption anymore. Like I always thought that if
- 27:52Speaker 2: you look at a lot of celebrities go to rehab
- 27:55Speaker 2: or you know they New York City, here you can
- 27:57Speaker 2: steal whatever you want, or in LA and it's like, well,
- 27:59Speaker 2: these fifteen hundred, they're not bad people. They just need
- 28:02Speaker 2: to be helping and it's great. So they are worthy
- 28:06Speaker 2: of redemption. Right, they're not bad. We need we need
- 28:08Speaker 2: their help. But if you do something that's it, you're
- 28:11Speaker 2: not worthy of redemption.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Everything was gone. One of somebody came out and said,
- 28:17Speaker 3: I don't need these badfect people. It's get these perfect people,
- 28:22Speaker 3: because if I did a back check on these perfect people,
- 28:26Speaker 3: can't you don't be freaking What did any Murphy used
- 28:30Speaker 3: to say about the bones and people's closet and some
- 28:32Speaker 3: people have graveyards?
- 28:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, my god.
- 28:35Speaker 3: I know that the people who usually complain as they're
- 28:39Speaker 3: the ones just be nice, you know, just be nice,
- 28:41Speaker 3: have a good per compassion and empathy, and that seems to.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Be gone people one hundred percent. People also don't understand
- 28:48Speaker 2: that a lot of the times the joke is supporting
- 28:53Speaker 2: your beliefs. Meaning if I said, you know, women belong
- 28:57Speaker 2: in the kitchen or something like that, and people laughed,
- 29:01Speaker 2: I actually don't think that. That's why I'm laughing at it,
- 29:04Speaker 2: laughing at it like they don't understand that it's if
- 29:08Speaker 2: I clearly we're laughing because it's wrong.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Exactly, they're too dumb, I'm gonna say dumb.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Usually people usually the person saying it believes the exact opposite.
- 29:21Speaker 2: That's why they're laughing. Look how funny it would be
- 29:23Speaker 2: if I believed this. So how do you make comedy
- 29:27Speaker 2: out of being.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Like, yeah, exactly, hands it's impossible.
- 29:31Speaker 2: My wife is brave you're gonna start laughing at that.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Well, it's funny. It's the exactly.
- 29:41Speaker 5: My wife to know, and she's perfect.
- 29:43Speaker 3: But it's funny. It's funny to bash your significant of course.
- 29:47Speaker 3: And when when we when I deal with my we laugh.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Of course, yes, because it was a relationship, right like O. C. D.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Nelly over here calling me like you know, and things
- 29:56Speaker 3: like that.
- 29:56Speaker 2: It's a friend of mine. One set, I made it.
- 29:58Speaker 2: I put up this video make in front of my wife.
- 30:00Speaker 2: My friend from high school was like, this is so funny.
- 30:02Speaker 2: My wife would kill me and I said, you guys
- 30:05Speaker 2: shouldn't be together.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Yeah, really she can't.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Something missing.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Yeah, last night Jerry Seinfeld came out. I'm telling you,
- 30:12Speaker 3: I said, told him before the standing ovation when he came,
- 30:17Speaker 3: and the standing ovation when he left, and the fact
- 30:19Speaker 3: that Sebastian brought him on stage and he said, I
- 30:22Speaker 3: never did the garden. Thank you. Sebastian never did the garden.
- 30:28Speaker 3: He goes. You all know how much I love New York.
- 30:32Speaker 3: You know I grew up in New York. I do
- 30:34Speaker 3: all my comedy about New York. I lived in LA
- 30:37Speaker 3: for a short period of time. Let's not talk about that.
- 30:41Speaker 3: I want to talk about that. I'm here because Sebastian,
- 30:44Speaker 3: thank you, and it was so what a show and
- 30:48Speaker 3: why we were people screaming that in the middle of
- 30:53Speaker 3: it said if you watch it they filmed that, you're
- 30:55Speaker 3: going to see it. And all he did the whole
- 30:59Speaker 3: his whole set half a set was about his wife
- 31:02Speaker 3: and how to be obedient. Just let's just be the
- 31:06Speaker 3: dog by the door when she wiggles the keys. Don't
