- 0:21Speaker 4: And if you hire Marcel the Monkey from Friends to
- 0:25Speaker 4: come to your birthday party and it's not actually Marcell
- 0:28Speaker 4: the Monkey from Friends, do you get your money back?
- 0:32Speaker 1: I'll be there for you.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Pat Justice, real people, real cases, say justice.
- 0:41Speaker 2: All right, you you need to do yours.
- 0:43Speaker 1: The answers. Yes.
- 0:44Speaker 3: If I'm promised Marcel from Friends and I don't get Marcel,
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'm getting my money back.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Open theo gabble Gavel, everybody. This is that show that you're.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Listening to with Bramble Jam plus with no commercials or
- 0:55Speaker 3: with commercials and years later after we've already recorded this.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Either way, we're happy listening. Thanks for being being here.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Here's what's going on in your neck of the woods.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm seventy.
- 1:08Speaker 4: I occasionally about once a year head over to Gary
- 1:15Speaker 4: Busey Pet Court where Gary Yeah, whatever it's called. And
- 1:21Speaker 4: I did that today And let's just get out of
- 1:23Speaker 4: the way. Go ahead, Woman suing man I don't get.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Names, woman suing man, woman.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Suing man, and monkey for five hundred dollars for the
- 1:35Speaker 4: price of party.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Monkey.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Gary says, it's a good court room when people are
- 1:43Speaker 4: here for the right reasons, and I'm sure that's why
- 1:46Speaker 4: we're here today.
- 1:47Speaker 3: It's a good court room when people are here for
- 1:50Speaker 3: the right reasons, and I'm sure that's why we're here today.
- 1:53Speaker 3: I want this guy was Chet Steban. I want to
- 1:55Speaker 3: tell the rocket, Yeah, he was.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I want to tell everybody that I'm going to say
- 2:00Speaker 4: some things today that come from the mouth of Gary Busey.
- 2:04Speaker 4: And it is and it is twenty five percent.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Of the things that he says.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I've tried to pick the most relative things to look
- 2:13Speaker 4: out there. The let's just see what happens.
- 2:16Speaker 1: We meet a woman.
- 2:18Speaker 4: This woman's daughter is a big fan of the TV
- 2:21Speaker 4: show Friends, right, and so she decides she sees an
- 2:26Speaker 4: ad for a monkey, the monkey Marcel from the TV
- 2:29Speaker 4: show Friends, and this Marcell will come to your birthday party.
- 2:33Speaker 4: And so she believes this obviously monkey is going to
- 2:36Speaker 4: be Marcel, and believes that the monkey that showed up
- 2:39Speaker 4: as an imposter is not.
- 2:41Speaker 3: So she doesn't have any proof aside from she knows
- 2:44Speaker 3: it's not Marcel the Monkey.
- 2:46Speaker 4: It's pretty clear it's not Marcel. Okay, Ursell is pretty
- 2:49Speaker 4: old at this point. Yeah yeah. The guy says, I
- 2:52Speaker 4: never claimed that my monkey was from a show called Friends.
- 2:57Speaker 4: My monkey's name is Marcel, but I didn't even know
- 3:01Speaker 4: there was a famous monkey name to Marcel. For years,
- 3:05Speaker 4: I've been bringing Marcel to parties and he always entertains.
- 3:08Speaker 4: He always So where'd she get the idea that it
- 3:10Speaker 4: was from marcef we'll get there. Gary asks if it
- 3:13Speaker 4: really matters whether or not the monkey is from Friends.
- 3:16Speaker 4: She says, what's what I paid for, So yes, it matters.
- 3:20Speaker 4: It matters to me. She explains that she found an
- 3:23Speaker 4: ad in the Penny Saver for a Marcel the Monkey
- 3:28Speaker 4: come to your party. So she says that the monkey
- 3:31Speaker 4: that showed up was rude, was dry humping guests, and
- 3:35Speaker 4: was stealing beers. We'll get to the ad at a minute. Okay, guests,
- 3:42Speaker 4: all right, the guy stealing beers as well. The guy
- 3:45Speaker 4: pipes up and says he does one beer day tops,
- 3:47Speaker 4: and that's typically in the morning. She says, no, there
- 3:51Speaker 4: were several beers I witnessed the monkey take three beers
- 3:54Speaker 4: at once, so he does one one beer tops ridiculous.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Gary says, I know. Gary says, I know a bit
- 4:04Speaker 4: about monkeys, just like if you there, we're gonna get
- 4:10Speaker 4: a little bit more adult here. So just okay, Gary says,
- 4:14Speaker 4: I know a bit about monkeys. They're they're born horny.
- 4:17Speaker 4: They want to know what happens when you explore that
- 4:20Speaker 4: good feeling?
- 4:24Speaker 1: There you go?
- 4:24Speaker 4: Uh? She says that's actually in fact, Gary, how I
- 4:29Speaker 4: figured out that that this wasn't the real Marcel because
- 4:34Speaker 4: anybody that knows the real Marcel knows that the monkey
- 4:38Speaker 4: that played Marcel and the TV show Friends is a girl.
- 4:42Speaker 4: This monkey, it's a boy boy dry humping' Okay. The
- 4:49Speaker 4: guy says, I don't really care what she says, because
- 4:52Speaker 4: I never claimed he was Marcel from Friends. He says,
- 4:55Speaker 4: I don't even know that show. I watched a lot
- 4:57Speaker 4: of TV, Lifetime, PBS, Fox News. Gary yells at him
- 5:01Speaker 4: to stop and explains it just because you haven't seen
- 5:04Speaker 4: it doesn't make it not true, and then he says,
- 5:07Speaker 4: ignorance is bliss.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Okay, okay, So she brings.
- 5:12Speaker 4: The advertisement man here with advertisement asking about the ad,
- 5:15Speaker 4: says this wouldn't it be great to be friends in
- 5:20Speaker 4: all capitals with Marcel the Monkey.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Friends is capitalized.
- 5:30Speaker 4: She says, he's clearly lying or at the very best
- 5:33Speaker 4: not trying to try and trying to fool people into
- 5:36Speaker 4: thinking that.
- 5:36Speaker 3: There would be friends with Marcel the Monkey.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Marcel the Monkey also apparently was in a movie called Outbreak. Yes,
- 5:45Speaker 4: I've seen it, Dustin, And there is another there's another
- 5:48Speaker 4: like outbreak related pun on the advertisement as well. So
- 5:51Speaker 4: it's like, clear, if you know this monkey, you would
- 5:54Speaker 4: think friends Outbreak, this is Marcus Marcel.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Gary points out.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Uh that this picture is clear, Like, so they bring
- 6:05Speaker 4: in the monkey by the way they bring them, of
- 6:06Speaker 4: course they do. They bring and the monkey is in
- 6:10Speaker 4: a diaper, and he says, this is clear. The picture
- 6:16Speaker 4: looks a little bit different. It looks like a similar
- 6:19Speaker 4: type of monkey than Marcel, but it's different.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Gary then shares a story.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Gary says that he once had a pressure washer that
- 6:30Speaker 4: had such high p s I that it would strip
- 6:33Speaker 4: the paint off a boat. One day, Dustin Hoffman comes
- 6:36Speaker 4: over and asks to borrow it from for one of
- 6:39Speaker 4: his nine to eleven garden parties. He hasn't seen the
- 6:43Speaker 4: pressure washer or Dustin Hoffman. Since back to the case
- 6:49Speaker 4: of Hey, back to the case of.
- 6:54Speaker 2: My favorite Gary Busey moment of all the time.
- 6:59Speaker 4: One of him, one of them is that a lot
- 7:01Speaker 4: one of his nine to eleven garden parties. Gary then asks, uh,
- 7:06Speaker 4: Marcel's there? The monkey comes in is wearing a diaper.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Gary asked if the monkey has uh has a U what?
- 7:16Speaker 3: Oh?
- 7:17Speaker 1: It has has seen friends? And he's like, I don't know.
- 7:20Speaker 4: I don't think he's seen friends. He likes he likes
- 7:22Speaker 4: you know, Lifetime and PBS like, like I do the monkey.
- 7:27Speaker 4: He then says, hey, does does the monkey have a name?
- 7:30Speaker 4: Guys like Marcel, That's why we're here.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why we're here, bro, Come on.
- 7:33Speaker 4: The monkey then throws poop at Gary. Gary says, you
- 7:37Speaker 4: know what poop stands for? Pushing out old produce. He's
- 7:41Speaker 4: ready to rule she don't know produce.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess she's gonna get her money back. I
- 7:46Speaker 2: don't know.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I would actually love to hear this in a real
- 7:50Speaker 3: court because the ad is suggestive, but it doesn't actually
- 7:53Speaker 3: do anything illegal, So I'm inclined to not give her
- 7:57Speaker 3: her money. But I don't know what.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I don't know, Gary's gonna get her money, says this ad.
- 8:03Speaker 4: You're trying, you know what you're doing here, trying to
- 8:05Speaker 4: make people think that is myself from friends and outbreak.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Then Gary says, don't you both feel good? Now?
- 8:12Speaker 4: You both want in your own stupid way? What but
- 8:16Speaker 4: the way isn't stupid. The way is the way man,
- 8:20Speaker 4: And that's Gary.
- 8:21Speaker 2: What a national treasure.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Gary, Guys can't do it all the time, can't do
- 8:26Speaker 4: it all the time. Occasionally, but occasionally you dip your
- 8:29Speaker 4: toe into the pet court.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Let's go over to Judge Lauren Lake's courtroom. This is
- 8:34Speaker 3: on a show called We the People.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I've never heard of this.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I had never either it got it was a YouTube
- 8:39Speaker 3: suggestion for me after I watched the Judge Ross and Fair.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I really like Judge Lauren Lake. She asked good questions.
- 8:46Speaker 3: She wants to get to the bottom of the issue.
- 8:49Speaker 3: She's really after some justice. High recommend on the YouTube. Uh,
- 8:53Speaker 3: Jillian House is suing Ellen Samuels for twenty five hundred dollars.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I'm ailing We's right. That is two thousand dollars to
- 9:03Speaker 3: plan an event plus five hundred four avenue space twenty. Now,
- 9:08Speaker 3: I don't know if she does this in every case,
- 9:10Speaker 3: because I only watched this one. But at the beginning,
- 9:13Speaker 3: when everybody sits down after the bailiff comes in, instead
- 9:16Speaker 3: of saying all parties have been sworn, Judge Lauren Lake
- 9:19Speaker 3: looks at the crowd and goes, good day everyone, and
- 9:22Speaker 3: they all shout back good day, Like it's a call
- 9:26Speaker 3: and response like the Lord has risen, risen indeed, or
- 9:30Speaker 3: God is good all the time, Like it's one of those.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And there's full full participation by the by the given
- 9:36Speaker 3: the people that are there to sue. It's the cameras
- 9:39Speaker 3: from the back of the room, so you can't tell,
- 9:41Speaker 3: but they all shout good day.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So that's that's how to get it started.
- 9:44Speaker 1: That's sweet. I like that.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Yeah, let's get the good vibes going in the chart.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Oftentimes this is a tough day for a lot of people. Yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 4: I love it, but it's a good day to be all.
- 9:52Speaker 4: So Jillian House starts in. I hired Ellen as my
- 9:55Speaker 4: event planner. She worked with me before. In fact, she
- 9:58Speaker 4: was my wedding planner. She he was an assistant wedding
- 10:00Speaker 4: planner for me, and so she's I'm close to her.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I've known her for three or four years. And she
- 10:06Speaker 3: also knows just how conservative my family is because she
- 10:09Speaker 3: helped plan my wedding. And that's why I felt really
- 10:12Speaker 3: confident hiring her for my baby shower.
- 10:14Speaker 2: This's my first baby pregnant.
- 10:16Speaker 3: We're gonna have a really nice baby shower with my family,
- 10:18Speaker 3: my in laws, who were also very conservative, Like, we're
- 10:21Speaker 3: gonna have a baby shower. And she brought strippers and
- 10:24Speaker 3: a stripper pole to my baby shower. Now, Ellen Samuel says,
- 10:28Speaker 3: your honor, they were poll instructors. I didn't bring strippers
- 10:33Speaker 3: or stripper poles to a baby shower. The pole instructors
- 10:37Speaker 3: were getting ready. I didn't do that. That's not what
- 10:39Speaker 3: she's saying.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I didn't do.
- 10:41Speaker 3: But did she want Jillian's like, it's the same thing.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Ellen says, no, it's not. Here's what happens. Jillian's original
- 10:50Speaker 3: venue for her baby shower fell through. I was supposed
- 10:54Speaker 3: to plan it at that venue. She called me and said,
- 10:57Speaker 3: I don't.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Know what to do. Yes, I don't know what to do.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I don't have a venue.
- 11:02Speaker 3: And Ellen said, I had another event at a venue
- 11:05Speaker 3: I had booked for the whole day. That event didn't
- 11:08Speaker 3: start until the evening, and I said, I have this
- 11:12Speaker 3: venue for the whole day. Tack on five hundred dollars.
- 11:15Speaker 3: You can do your baby shower beforehand at this venue.
- 11:20Speaker 3: She said, yes, I did. I did her a solid
- 11:25Speaker 3: is what I did. And Jillian is like judge Lauren
- 11:28Speaker 3: Lake's like, all right, so you switched the venue. She goes, yeah,
- 11:30Speaker 3: it was supposed to be my friend's home. Found out
- 11:32Speaker 3: there's a big termite infection. They had to shut the
- 11:34Speaker 3: house down to hum the gate the whole baby. Ellen
- 11:36Speaker 3: did help me out. She found me these new accommodations.
- 11:40Speaker 3: But I have a contract from the venue and from her.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I paid a deposits. I paid all this money. The
- 11:46Speaker 3: venue was mine, regardless of what was happening later. The
- 11:49Speaker 3: venue is mine. I also have pictures of the baby
- 11:53Speaker 3: shower where we're taking pictures of me opening gifts and
- 11:55Speaker 3: there are strippers and stripper polls in the background.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Of the pictures.
- 11:58Speaker 1: The pictures are root just like warming up.
- 12:00Speaker 2: They're getting ready.
- 12:01Speaker 3: They're they're installing the poles, which don't normally exist in
- 12:03Speaker 3: this venue, so they're putting the poles in.
- 12:05Speaker 2: They're out there, they're warming up. Whatever. Ellen's like, your honor.
- 12:09Speaker 3: The reason they're back there is because her event was
- 12:11Speaker 3: supposed to end at five. The other event was starting
- 12:15Speaker 3: at eight. There's a huge window there. Well, it rained
- 12:18Speaker 3: that day. They had some trouble. They were supposed to
- 12:20Speaker 3: be outdoors for a lot of it. I let them
- 12:22Speaker 3: move inside and I gave them an extra hour. Even
- 12:24Speaker 3: though I told them they had to be out by five,
- 12:26Speaker 3: I said they could be out at six and that
- 12:29Speaker 3: would give enough time for the next venue. The next event,
- 12:32Speaker 3: which wasn't a stripper event. It was a party where
- 12:35Speaker 3: they wanted to learn pole dancing. That event was going
- 12:39Speaker 3: to start setting up. Well at seven, they're still opening gifts.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I had to literally kick them out of this venue
- 12:45Speaker 3: for the venue to be opened. I extend it and
- 12:48Speaker 3: the next event started at eight.
- 12:50Speaker 1: We'stillian say about them?
- 12:52Speaker 3: Well, Judge Lauren Lake said, did you make her aware
- 12:54Speaker 3: of the next event was strippers? And she said, not strippers,
- 12:59Speaker 3: pulling trucks. I did not let her know there would
- 13:01Speaker 3: be pull instructors. It was a birthday party. They wanted
- 13:04Speaker 3: to take a pole dancing class. I didn't think that
- 13:06Speaker 3: was relevant to the time. Judge Lauren Lake then asked
- 13:09Speaker 3: Jillian was it. I mean, uh uh yeah. Then asked Jillian,
- 13:14Speaker 3: was it made clear to you that you needed to
- 13:17Speaker 3: be done by five? Uh? She said no, we had
- 13:21Speaker 3: events scheduled outdoors and it rained. I talked to Jillian,
- 13:24Speaker 3: told her we'd go later. Jillian said that was fine.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I wanted the amount of time I paid for. This
- 13:30Speaker 3: is my first baby, my first baby shower. I trust
- 13:34Speaker 3: her to accommodate. She didn't.
- 13:35Speaker 4: She told me she's saying that she paid until until seven,
- 13:40Speaker 4: but the from five five.
- 13:42Speaker 3: But Jillian told her she could have extra time. And
- 13:44Speaker 3: she doesn't get any specifics about that. And she never
- 13:47Speaker 3: mentioned strippers or stripper polls. And she knew how conservative
- 13:50Speaker 3: my family would was. That's something she should mention. And
- 13:54Speaker 3: then she also said the shower was over at seven.
- 13:57Speaker 3: We weren't still opening gifts at seven. Everything was packed up.
- 14:00Speaker 3: We were leaving at seven. Ellen's like, no, it was
- 14:03Speaker 3: longer than that. Also, your honor. She signed a contract
- 14:06Speaker 3: for fifty people. There were eighty five people at the party.
- 14:09Speaker 3: We ran out of food. I did everything to accommodate her. Everything,
- 14:14Speaker 3: didn't charge her more. She paid five hundred for the venue,
- 14:17Speaker 3: two thousand for my services. I went above and beyond.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Here, but also whether or not she's packing up or
- 14:23Speaker 4: is leaving. She still went two hours long.
- 14:25Speaker 3: That's right, at the minimum, at the minimum, correct over
- 14:28Speaker 3: the contracted length. Judge Lawren Lake says, Jillian, why do
- 14:31Speaker 3: you think you deserve your money back? It's a good question.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Jillian says, Well, the event I paid for is ruined.
- 14:37Speaker 3: My baby shower's ruined. My pictures are ruined by half
- 14:41Speaker 3: naked women in the background. And do we see pictures
- 14:45Speaker 3: We don't, She said, So this is because I'm not
- 14:48Speaker 3: asking for perfey reasons.
- 14:50Speaker 2: No, Judge Lauren.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Lakes, We're not asking for Pervy brand, classic brand of I'm.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Asking because clearly there is a difference of opinion on.
- 14:59Speaker 3: What lead dancers does see the pictures. It's like, oh, yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 3: I could this is this you know? But I don't.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I don't sure. She says, these are the only memories
- 15:08Speaker 3: I have of this, and they're ruined. My mother in
- 15:10Speaker 3: law isn't speaking to me. She thinks I have a
- 15:13Speaker 3: complete lack of judgment. It's caused a rift. It's caused
- 15:16Speaker 3: a rift in my marriage. I didn't get what.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I what I vote for.
- 15:20Speaker 2: No, that's tough Judge Laurren Lake ready to rule.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Wow, this is tough.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I'd be interested to see, you know, the contract itself,
- 15:34Speaker 4: if there's any sort of stipulation on on that. Obviously
- 15:37Speaker 4: I know that they were moved into the venue. They
- 15:44Speaker 4: were they were the favor here. So it's not like
- 15:47Speaker 4: she like said, told the strippers, Hey, I already have
- 15:50Speaker 4: an event, you guys come. It's the other way around.
- 15:53Speaker 4: The strippers are already supposed to be there, dancers whatever.
- 15:58Speaker 4: And then and then she said, Okay, I already have
- 16:01Speaker 4: this venue, you can come in. I think in that
- 16:04Speaker 4: case you have to work around whatever is going on
- 16:07Speaker 4: in the venue. Should she have known upfront that hey,
- 16:11Speaker 4: the other party is dancers, Yeah, probably probably should have.
- 16:16Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, it's almost as
- 16:18Speaker 4: almost as if you're a guest in someone's home, right,
- 16:21Speaker 4: like you got to play by their rules, the rules
- 16:25Speaker 4: of which is going on inside this venue. And so
- 16:27Speaker 4: I think I don't think she's gonna get any money.
- 16:29Speaker 4: That's how I would do.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Judge lorn Lake does not give her any money. What
- 16:33Speaker 3: she says here is like I loved it so much
- 16:34Speaker 3: I wrote it down because it's exactly right in my opinion.
- 16:38Speaker 3: What I'm hearing you say is you were embarrassed, and
- 16:39Speaker 3: your mother in law was embarrassed, but your player really
- 16:42Speaker 3: saved you. The services that were performed were performed to
- 16:45Speaker 3: completion and beyond it would it wouldn't have been appropriate
- 16:50Speaker 3: for her to do things any differently than she did them.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Have you ever heard the phrase beggars can't be choosers? Well,
- 16:57Speaker 3: you had several acts of God happened to you. Of God,
- 17:00Speaker 3: termites rain, these things happen. You're event planner did everything
- 17:04Speaker 3: she could do for you. Considering the acts of God
- 17:08Speaker 3: that occurred the week of your baby shower. You're not
- 17:10Speaker 3: getting any money, so that's a right. I crushed it.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Will to watch another one. She crushed it? Oh, very good.
- 17:16Speaker 3: The good news is more of these, of course, so
- 17:18Speaker 3: we're gonna dive into them. We'll be back next week
- 17:19Speaker 3: with another one. Until then, all right, Yo gavel Gabbles,
