- 0:00Speaker 1: This roof has flown off Seattle.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Welcome to Seattle Kraken Hockey on the Global Credit Union
- 0:07Speaker 2: Krakenn Audio Network, brought to you by Coor's Life, Your
- 0:11Speaker 2: Western Washington, Toyota Dealers, Virginia Mason, Franciscan Health, Muckleshoot Casino Resort,
- 0:17Speaker 2: and by Luna and Symetra.
- 0:20Speaker 3: It was yet another point worthy effort for the Crack
- 0:24Speaker 3: at Monday against Minnesota. However, the result didn't reflect that effort,
- 0:28Speaker 3: as the Kraken fell for a fifth consecutive time in regulation.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Seattle overcame a slow start and went into the third
- 0:35Speaker 3: time with the wild one one, and despite surrendering the
- 0:38Speaker 3: go ahead goal midway through, continued to pressure offensively. Unfortunately,
- 0:43Speaker 3: a pair of empty netters for Minnesota kept them in
- 0:46Speaker 3: front for good, sending them to a four to one win. Tonight,
- 0:50Speaker 3: the Kraken complete a three game homestand against the La
- 0:53Speaker 3: Kings with a chance to get back in the win
- 0:56Speaker 3: column in front of a very special group of people
- 1:00Speaker 3: as the Kraken Fathers and Mentor's trip kicks off.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Under our roof.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Good evening, Ladies and gentlemen welcome inside of Climate Pledgerina
- 1:07Speaker 3: alongside big al Kiniski.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I'm Everett Fitzo.
- 1:11Speaker 3: This is Seattle Kragen Hockey on the Global Credit Union CRAG.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And Audio Network.
- 1:15Speaker 3: You are listening to the pregame show served up by
- 1:18Speaker 3: Frost Grew Corpse Light Choose Chill al back to back
- 1:21Speaker 3: games Detroit and now Minnesota where Seattle has played well
- 1:25Speaker 3: enough to win, minimally well enough to get points, but
- 1:28Speaker 3: unfortunately the results have not reflected that hard work.
- 1:33Speaker 1: They put in.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've had a better effort in both those games.
- 1:35Speaker 4: They put themselves in a position to win. Unfortunately they
- 1:38Speaker 4: just come out on the wrong side of it. They're
- 1:40Speaker 4: gonna need just a little bit more from each player
- 1:42Speaker 4: tonight tonight, and we heard Jordan Eberley talk about that previously.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, after the game on Monday, some very points a
- 1:48Speaker 3: comment from the captain, Jordan Eberley, And if I'm putting
- 1:51Speaker 3: my fan hat on momentarily, you like to hear that
- 1:55Speaker 3: passion and the energy from Jordan Neberley.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Saying that he needs and we need quoting him. We
- 2:00Speaker 1: need more from every guy on this team.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Lane Lambert has routinely said we can't have guys being passengers.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Everyone's got to be bought in.
- 2:09Speaker 3: So it seems like the gauntlet has been laid from
- 2:12Speaker 3: the locker room internally up to the head coach's desk
- 2:15Speaker 3: as well.
- 2:16Speaker 4: I think sometimes when when you're taking out of the
- 2:18Speaker 4: lineup as a healthy scratch, you have a response when
- 2:20Speaker 4: you come back into the lineup. Tonight, we'll see Jamie
- 2:22Speaker 4: alexiak back into the lineup.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Let's see what his response is.
- 2:25Speaker 4: But I think, as you said, Jordan Eberody, making that
- 2:28Speaker 4: statement is for the entire team. Lane Lambert talking about passengers,
- 2:31Speaker 4: He's talking to those passengers. There could be a big
- 2:34Speaker 4: response here tonight in tonight's.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Game, in that game Monday against the Red or against
- 2:38Speaker 3: the Wild. Excuse me, the Seattle krackt going three for
- 2:40Speaker 3: three on the power play. They've got a power on
- 2:43Speaker 3: the PK. Rather, they have a power play in two
- 2:45Speaker 3: of their last three games. After a four point drought
- 2:48Speaker 3: for the Seattle Kracket. They've gotten a perfect PK now
- 2:52Speaker 3: three times in their last five games after surrendering at
- 2:56Speaker 3: least one power play goal in nine straight. So I asked,
- 3:00Speaker 3: are we seeing the special teams improving? The most polarizing
- 3:04Speaker 3: topic as of late surrounding this team.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Well, I think we're certainly seeing the PK improving. You know,
- 3:09Speaker 4: Lean Lambert talked about that this morning his avail where
- 3:12Speaker 4: he said they've simplified things a little bit. I think
- 3:15Speaker 4: that that helps a lot as from a penalty killer standpoint,
- 3:18Speaker 4: where you're not thinking do I do a B or C.
- 3:20Speaker 4: I think Lambert has said it's always ad way and
- 3:23Speaker 4: then we'll go from there, and I think that's been helping.
- 3:25Speaker 3: On the other side of the red line, the LA
- 3:27Speaker 3: Kings come in here very similar to the Seattle Krack
- 3:30Speaker 3: and in that they don't give up a whole lot.
- 3:32Speaker 3: They don't get a whole lot either. They're four to
- 3:34Speaker 3: two and three in their last nine games coming into tonight.
- 3:38Speaker 3: They've scored one or two goals six times in that stretch,
- 3:43Speaker 3: So tonight could be a war of attrition, if you will,
- 3:46Speaker 3: between some two pretty stout defenses.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and depending on how much of this game has
- 3:50Speaker 4: played even strength, LA has this the third best league
- 3:54Speaker 4: league goals against average at two forty eight or two
- 3:57Speaker 4: point point four eight, and Seattle's right behind them at
- 3:59Speaker 4: two nine to six. So if most of this game
- 4:01Speaker 4: is played even strength, this could be a real low
- 4:03Speaker 4: scoring affair.
- 4:03Speaker 3: It's a very special game tonight for both the La
- 4:06Speaker 3: Kings and the Seattle krackt. The Kraken kicking off their
- 4:10Speaker 3: fathers and Mentors trips is the dads and mentors. Male
- 4:13Speaker 3: mentors came in yesterday. They'll be here tonight, we'll hop
- 4:17Speaker 3: on the plane tomorrow go off to Utah and they'll
- 4:20Speaker 3: stick with the Kraken throughout the weekend. The La Kings
- 4:22Speaker 3: are wrapping up their mother's shrip here tonight as well
- 4:26Speaker 3: after a game in Utah as the Utah Mammoth. They're
- 4:29Speaker 3: going to be a part of two parent mentor trips.
- 4:32Speaker 3: But for both these teams, you are a parent yourself.
- 4:35Speaker 3: You've played high level hockey as well. Your parents have
- 4:38Speaker 3: seen you play. What's it like to have your mom,
- 4:41Speaker 3: your dad, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin, mentor in the building
- 4:45Speaker 3: watching you do what you do at the highest level.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Well, I mean when I played near here in Seattle,
- 4:50Speaker 4: my parents would drive down from the Vancouvery for every
- 4:52Speaker 4: home game, and it was always special having them in
- 4:54Speaker 4: the stands. It was a smaller arena. You could see
- 4:56Speaker 4: them in warm ups, and there's just something about going
- 4:59Speaker 4: out and showing them what they put all that time
- 5:01Speaker 4: and money and energy in those six am practices. I
- 5:04Speaker 4: remember making coffee for my mom because she was getting
- 5:07Speaker 4: up and I had to get my gear ready. You
- 5:09Speaker 4: give it's a chance to show them what all that
- 5:12Speaker 4: effort and commitment has done for your game, and you
- 5:14Speaker 4: get to go put that on display and.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Tell you what My gold calls are always a little
- 5:17Speaker 3: bit more crisper when Mama Fits is standing in the
- 5:20Speaker 3: press box in Detroit as well. Really looking forward to
- 5:23Speaker 3: hanging out with some of the dads and the mentors here.

- 9:04Speaker 5: in the Pacific Division, the Crack and trying to improve
- 9:08Speaker 5: on their seven seven and one head to have record well.
- 9:11Speaker 5: As Eevyett now mentioned, this evening a special one for
- 9:14Speaker 5: a family affair and for the Kraken it is the
- 9:18Speaker 5: beginning of their annual Dads and Mentor's trip, which means
- 9:22Speaker 5: the Krack and hosting family and mentors of each Crack
- 9:24Speaker 5: and player. They're in the house for tonight and they'll
- 9:27Speaker 5: also be on the road for Utah with their next
- 9:30Speaker 5: game coming up on Friday in Utah and for the
- 9:33Speaker 5: Crack in their mission get back into a winning form
- 9:36Speaker 5: with family in tow because they come off a four
- 9:39Speaker 5: to one lost to Minnesota, Jordan Eberley scored and the
- 9:42Speaker 5: only Kraken goal on the power play, and a tough
- 9:45Speaker 5: night which spoiled a terrific effort by Philip Grubauer which
- 9:49Speaker 5: now pushed the Crack and run to zero five and
- 9:51Speaker 5: one in the last six games. They are looking for
- 9:54Speaker 5: their first win since November twenty second at Pittsburgh in
- 9:59Speaker 5: the stretch of lou five in a row, the Crack
- 10:01Speaker 5: and trying to get out of a run of giving
- 10:02Speaker 5: up four goals per game that type for most in
- 10:04Speaker 5: the NHL in that span with Columbus and offensively, goal
- 10:09Speaker 5: has been hard to come by eight times this year
- 10:11Speaker 5: from this last game, the Kraken were held to one
- 10:14Speaker 5: goal or less. Afterward, Jordan Eberley's reaction included comments of quote,
- 10:20Speaker 5: we need to find a little bit more from every
- 10:23Speaker 5: single guy end quote here's a head coach Lane Lambert
- 10:27Speaker 5: felt about.
- 10:27Speaker 9: That, agree with his assessment that we need more from everybody.
- 10:31Speaker 9: You know, we we have to have everybody playing well
- 10:36Speaker 9: and we just can't afford to have any passengers. And
- 10:39Speaker 9: I didn't think I didn't think everyone brought their best smake.
- 10:43Speaker 5: So the crack and looking to amplify their effort, and
- 10:46Speaker 5: maybe an example of the latter. In Monday's game, Vin's
- 10:49Speaker 5: done with a massive hit on Matt and Zucarello matter
- 10:51Speaker 5: of fact, knocked a wild forward out of the game
- 10:53Speaker 5: and you kind of feel back of the situation, but
- 10:56Speaker 5: it was done, set a very clean one which set
- 10:59Speaker 5: a threatening tone for the rest of the entire game.
- 11:02Speaker 5: In the physicality department, we cut up with Don in
- 11:05Speaker 5: the Crack and dressing room this morning here to talk
- 11:08Speaker 5: about the art of a big hit, and we's got
- 11:10Speaker 5: here on the dads and mentors trips side, but also
- 11:14Speaker 5: with a pretty obvious idea for this evening, in which
- 11:17Speaker 5: is start fast. All that here in this one on
- 11:20Speaker 5: one conversation. Well, Ben's first off, I'll just begin kind
- 11:23Speaker 5: of in transitioned from a couple of nights ago. What's
- 11:25Speaker 5: the meaning of a good start?
- 11:26Speaker 4: Tonight.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 10: I think in our own building, it's definitely important to
- 11:30Speaker 10: gain territory and to put the pressure on from the
- 11:34Speaker 10: start of the game. I think we've had some pretty
- 11:37Speaker 10: good starts and some okay starts. I don't think we've
- 11:39Speaker 10: come out completely flat this season like maybe we have
- 11:41Speaker 10: in the past, but I think just not overwhelming ourselves,
- 11:46Speaker 10: trying to get more content to the nets and just
- 11:49Speaker 10: try to simplify right from the start of the game.
- 11:50Speaker 10: That'll get everyone into it and get everyone feeling good
- 11:53Speaker 10: for the start of the period.
- 11:55Speaker 5: What's been the biggest difference as far as five on
- 11:57Speaker 5: five play and how this team has been moving the
- 12:00Speaker 5: puck recently and trying to generate more of action and
- 12:03Speaker 5: activity towards the front of the net opposite way of
- 12:05Speaker 5: your own goal.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Ten.
- 12:06Speaker 10: Yeah, I think when pucks are going to the net,
- 12:08Speaker 10: it makes you kind of feel good about your own
- 12:10Speaker 10: individual game. I think it brings confidence to your line
- 12:13Speaker 10: and to be able to create offense.
- 12:15Speaker 11: That's how you're gonna win games. And I think.
- 12:19Speaker 10: Our shot volume and the attempts have been where we
- 12:22Speaker 10: want them to be the last few games, which obviously
- 12:25Speaker 10: sucks to see the results not go our way.
- 12:27Speaker 11: But I think we just need to stick to that
- 12:30Speaker 11: kind of.
- 12:30Speaker 10: Mentality and stay dialed in that aspect of the game,
- 12:33Speaker 10: and obviously continue our good defensive structure, which we've had
- 12:37Speaker 10: and it's leaked a little bit, but I think overall
- 12:39Speaker 10: our games have been pretty good.
- 12:40Speaker 11: I know the scores maybe show a little different.
- 12:43Speaker 10: I think special teams, you know, even six on five
- 12:46Speaker 10: at the end last game, can kind of skew the
- 12:49Speaker 10: scores a little differently. But I think overall five on
- 12:51Speaker 10: five we've been doing a pretty decent job. Now it's
- 12:54Speaker 10: about limiting is much more defensively, giving up a lot
- 13:00Speaker 10: less than we have, and to give our chances, ourselves
- 13:04Speaker 10: a better chance to win.
- 13:05Speaker 5: For a moment, I would love to get back into
- 13:08Speaker 5: the hit you had a couple of nights ago and
- 13:10Speaker 5: in today's game, what do modern players have to learn
- 13:13Speaker 5: about the art of laying a big hit?
- 13:15Speaker 10: Well, I mean, usually when you're committing to a big hit,
- 13:19Speaker 10: it's either going to be a big hit or a
- 13:20Speaker 10: big miss. Guys are really skilled right now and have
- 13:23Speaker 10: the capability of beating you one on one, and I
- 13:25Speaker 10: think a lot of guys don't really try that a
- 13:28Speaker 10: lot anymore.
- 13:28Speaker 11: I think.
- 13:31Speaker 10: Not that I was aiming for a big hit, but
- 13:33Speaker 10: I'm kind of angling off a player and trying to
- 13:36Speaker 10: persuade him to go down the wall and show him
- 13:39Speaker 10: space that I want him to go to to just
- 13:40Speaker 10: kind of rub them out and.
- 13:42Speaker 11: Strip the puck off of him.
- 13:43Speaker 10: And that's unfortunate to see any guy get injured on
- 13:47Speaker 10: a big hit when it's when it's clean, and that's
- 13:50Speaker 10: never my ten in my game play to injure players.
- 13:53Speaker 10: And I'm not sure too sure what's going on with him,
- 13:56Speaker 10: but obviously feel for him and hope he has a
- 13:58Speaker 10: speedy recovery. And that's but it's a physical, physical game
- 14:02Speaker 10: at a fast game. I think if it goes the
- 14:05Speaker 10: other way, like I say, if I missed that hit,
- 14:07Speaker 10: he makes quite a move on me, and I don't
- 14:08Speaker 10: really know what happens offensively for them after that, So
- 14:13Speaker 10: you know, it's it's a timing and an art. I
- 14:15Speaker 10: think you don't really see it that much anymore.
- 14:17Speaker 11: Guys. Guys aren't really trying to make those.
- 14:20Speaker 10: One on one plays, like I said, And you know,
- 14:22Speaker 10: sometimes you catch yourself without a choice to kind of
- 14:25Speaker 10: lay a hit like that. But yeah, it's it's the
- 14:28Speaker 10: physicality of the game that makes it so special.
- 14:30Speaker 11: It's so fast and things can happen so quickly, So.
- 14:34Speaker 10: Yeah, it's It's not the biggest part of my game,
- 14:38Speaker 10: but something I definitely enjoy is the the grit and
- 14:41Speaker 10: the toughness of the sport.
- 14:43Speaker 11: It's so very effective.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Now defensively, as far as what you this team wants
- 14:46Speaker 5: to get after this evening, how does that compare it
- 14:48Speaker 5: to two nights ago.
- 14:50Speaker 11: I think as far as tonight, just focus on being patient.
- 14:52Speaker 10: We're no both teams are very structured defensively, so we
- 14:57Speaker 10: know we're gonna have to chip a out of pucks
- 14:58Speaker 10: in and work twice is hard to get them back,
- 15:01Speaker 10: and I think to not get frustrated with whatever the
- 15:04Speaker 10: shot volume is either way or whatever the score is
- 15:06Speaker 10: from the start. I think we just need to be
- 15:08Speaker 10: patient for our offense and making sure that the special
- 15:10Speaker 10: teams really dialed in again tonight.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Now this is finally the opener of the Dad's and
- 15:15Speaker 5: Mentor's trip, and I learned that you have your brother
- 15:17Speaker 5: on this trip. What's me to have him around?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Now?
- 15:20Speaker 11: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 15:21Speaker 10: I think growing up playing hockey with him and against him,
- 15:25Speaker 10: it's a special bond that we've always shared as hockey
- 15:27Speaker 10: and small world enough that he played with Mason Marchman
- 15:31Speaker 10: growing up too, so it's pretty cool to just kind
- 15:33Speaker 10: of see everything come together and we're all in the
- 15:36Speaker 10: same place now enjoying something really special together.
- 15:40Speaker 11: So it means a lot for me to have him here.
- 15:42Speaker 11: I know he was excited and has a lot of questions.
- 15:46Speaker 10: And I think when you kind of talk about the
- 15:49Speaker 10: lifestyle you live and what happens on a day to
- 15:51Speaker 10: day basis, it's hard to really explain it until you've
- 15:54Speaker 10: actually lived it. And I think it's really special for
- 15:56Speaker 10: us to all bring someone significant here to be able
- 15:59Speaker 10: to live through us a little bit and kind of
- 16:00Speaker 10: see what goes on behind the scenes. So it's really
- 16:03Speaker 10: special to meet everyone's person that they brought along. We've
- 16:06Speaker 10: had some good trips in the past, and it's nice
- 16:09Speaker 10: to kind of make connections outside of the game rather
- 16:11Speaker 10: than just seeing your teammates every day. You start to
- 16:13Speaker 10: see different faces and learn a little bit more about
- 16:16Speaker 10: the people that you spend every single day with. So
- 16:19Speaker 10: it's really special to have them here, and I think
- 16:21Speaker 10: it's going to be pretty cool bond for us to
- 16:24Speaker 10: kind of talk about things, catch up on life a
- 16:26Speaker 10: little bit, and then also just enjoy the lifestyle again.
- 16:29Speaker 5: I'm excited that's been done with a crack and trying
- 16:33Speaker 5: to capitalize on some potential extra energy here with the
- 16:36Speaker 5: dads and mentors in the house for this game against
- 16:39Speaker 5: the Kings, first of four meetings. By the way, the
- 16:41Speaker 5: krack and have one too of the last three, and
- 16:43Speaker 5: when they win, they tend to keep it on the
- 16:45Speaker 5: low end of scoring. They have held the Kings of
- 16:48Speaker 5: two goals or less in each win, except for, of course,
- 16:51Speaker 5: that famous game back on November twenty ninth of twenty
- 16:54Speaker 5: twenty two nine eight win in overtime, so you can
- 16:58Speaker 5: expect another two one or three two game if these
- 17:01Speaker 5: two teams have it their way. The cracking story lines
- 17:03Speaker 5: first up begin with the first period approach, and if
- 17:06Speaker 5: it's a race to two or three, the team who
- 17:09Speaker 5: scores first could have a massive advantage. The Kraken eight
- 17:12Speaker 5: three and three when they score the first goal of
- 17:14Speaker 5: the game. This season, they are ten four and two
- 17:17Speaker 5: when they lead or are tied at the end of
- 17:19Speaker 5: one period, and they're facing the Kings team pretty good
- 17:23Speaker 5: in the first period situations seven to one and one
- 17:26Speaker 5: when they lead at the end of one. Our second
- 17:29Speaker 5: story line, Captain Jordan Everley's also picking up the pace.
- 17:32Speaker 5: He's got points in three straight games nine goals this season,
- 17:35Speaker 5: which puts him on a twenty seven goal pace, by
- 17:38Speaker 5: the way, which would be his best in the NHL
- 17:41Speaker 5: since twenty thirteen and fourteen with Edmonton, when he potted
- 17:44Speaker 5: twenty eight goals last or that season. And in this
- 17:47Speaker 5: series head to head, he has been terrific for the Kraken.
- 17:50Speaker 5: He's got thirteen points in twelve games against the Kings.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Our third story line Brandon Montour and his impact on
- 17:57Speaker 5: the blue line the team, of course, pledging to shoot
- 17:59Speaker 5: the puck more. In his last game eleven shot attempts,
- 18:03Speaker 5: a game high against Minnesota and against the Kings, he
- 18:06Speaker 5: has been very good ten points in just sixteen career matchups.
- 18:10Speaker 5: He's got goals in three of his last four head
- 18:12Speaker 5: to have meetings, So Montors certainly could make a big
- 18:15Speaker 5: difference on the blue line. And here's more with Montor.
- 18:18Speaker 5: We also got him back in the Crack and dressing
- 18:20Speaker 5: room and learn more about his dad on the trip,
- 18:23Speaker 5: a heavy schedule this month, and how the Crack can
- 18:25Speaker 5: respond after the captain's comments from Monday, but Brandon, first off,
- 18:30Speaker 5: Jordan's said that there's a lot of talent, how do
- 18:32Speaker 5: they make up with some of the parts that can
- 18:34Speaker 5: snap out of this recent skid.
- 18:35Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean guys have played veteran players. Again, there's
- 18:41Speaker 12: some stuff obviously we need to clean up, be consistent
- 18:45Speaker 12: games that we want to have back. But it's not
- 18:48Speaker 12: like the guys aren't trying the effort levels there. You know,
- 18:52Speaker 12: we just got to come together and find ways to
- 18:55Speaker 12: you know, get out of this, and consistency is one
- 18:58Speaker 12: of them.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Considering what you're up against this evening, what's the meaning
- 19:01Speaker 5: of a good start tonight?
- 19:02Speaker 12: Again, another team that's in their division tight, a team
- 19:05Speaker 12: that's obviously played together for a long time. They know
- 19:08Speaker 12: what it takes, what it what it means for their
- 19:10Speaker 12: team to be good. And it's gonna be a you know,
- 19:13Speaker 12: I would assume less interested or interesting game, you know,
- 19:18Speaker 12: low action, defensive game. But that's how they play, that's
- 19:22Speaker 12: how we play. So we got a smart picker chances
- 19:25Speaker 12: stay tight to their obviously their team there their Ford group.
- 19:29Speaker 12: We got a lot of high end talent and do
- 19:30Speaker 12: you like to move? And good team over there.
- 19:33Speaker 5: What's the biggest key for you with managing a pretty
- 19:35Speaker 5: heavy schedule here before Chris is in the holiday break.
- 19:38Speaker 12: Much, to be honest, to recovery, sleep, make sure bumps
- 19:42Speaker 12: and bruises are good, but mentally, just be ready to
- 19:45Speaker 12: go each and every night.
- 19:47Speaker 5: I know that here this is the opener for the
- 19:49Speaker 5: dads and mentors trip. You have your own father around.
- 19:52Speaker 5: What's the meaning of having him here for a few days.
- 19:54Speaker 11: Yeah, that's great.
- 19:54Speaker 12: I mean, obviously they they live a ways away, so
- 19:59Speaker 12: to be just here, uh, being a part of this.
- 20:01Speaker 12: You know, he's done what four or five now, so
- 20:03Speaker 12: he's kind of a veteran to it. But being a
- 20:07Speaker 12: part of this, be a part of the meeting other dads.
- 20:10Speaker 12: But I was also you know, just being in Seattle,
- 20:12Speaker 12: seeing my family, the kids. You know, I know he's there.
- 20:15Speaker 12: He's excited about just seeing my kids and having fun
- 20:19Speaker 12: with them. And obviously, you know, traveling to another city
- 20:23Speaker 12: like Utah will be cool for him. He's never been
- 20:24Speaker 12: there obviously, so for them to check out different cities
- 20:27Speaker 12: as well as pretty cool.
- 20:28Speaker 5: It was the most important thing he told you, as
- 20:30Speaker 5: far as being a player on or off the ice,
- 20:33Speaker 5: growing up, so enjoy.
- 20:34Speaker 12: What we're doing, having fun. He's one that you know,
- 20:37Speaker 12: seems like he never has a bad day. I think,
- 20:39Speaker 12: you know. I take that, you know, and learn from that.
- 20:43Speaker 12: But enjoy what you're doing. Always have fun competing and again,
- 20:46Speaker 12: at this level, you're playing with the best players in
- 20:48Speaker 12: the world, win or lose. You want to compete against
- 20:51Speaker 12: the best, and you know you enjoy doing that.
- 20:54Speaker 5: As Brandon Montour two points off the scoring pace right
- 20:56Speaker 5: now on the crack inside and right now facing an
- 20:59Speaker 5: update here for the injury side, Matt Murray, of course,
- 21:01Speaker 5: we said out nine games lower body, Jaden Schwartz out
- 21:04Speaker 5: four games lower body, ailmen both on IR near to
- 21:08Speaker 5: the IR side. Berkeley Caton, of course, blocked to shut
- 21:10Speaker 5: off his hand this last weekend. Replacing him. Ben Myers
- 21:14Speaker 5: called up from Ahl Coachella Valley. He's in ty Kartchi.

- 24:01Speaker 5: Now for a look at the Kings, a team in
- 24:03Speaker 5: transition with one of their last two pieces from their
- 24:07Speaker 5: cup winning teams about to retire. That's on Jay Cope
- 24:09Speaker 5: Patar making one more tour across the league this season.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Made his debut at age nineteen back in oh six
- 24:15Speaker 5: to SOHO seven. In for context, Shane Wright was two
- 24:18Speaker 5: years old, Berkeley Canton was nine months old back then.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Time certainly flies Cope Patar scoring Monday at Utah. The
- 24:26Speaker 5: Kings won that game for two, and he completed a
- 24:28Speaker 5: Mammoth task against Sammmmoth. He's now scored a goal against
- 24:32Speaker 5: all thirty two teams in the NHL. Utah was the
- 24:35Speaker 5: last team for him to check off on that list.
- 24:38Speaker 5: The Kings led wire to wire in the win. Darcy
- 24:40Speaker 5: Kemper made nineteen says, which down puts them third in
- 24:43Speaker 5: the Pacific, three points ahead of Edmonton and two points
- 24:47Speaker 5: back of the Vegas Golden Knights. Previously, they had a
- 24:50Speaker 5: massive breakout game six nothing win over Chicago. Because they
- 24:54Speaker 5: have been struggling here for offense much of this season
- 24:57Speaker 5: five on fine goals, thirtieth in the league with forty seven.
- 25:01Speaker 5: Power play, by the way, is last in the NHL,
- 25:03Speaker 5: just one of the last fifteen over the last six games.
- 25:06Speaker 5: The underhead coach Jim Hiller, what works for them a
- 25:09Speaker 5: defensive heavy approach. They are third right now goals allowed
- 25:13Speaker 5: per game two point four and they're six also in
- 25:15Speaker 5: the NHL in shots allowed with just twenty six per
- 25:19Speaker 5: game as well. Here's Jim Hiller with an interesting connection
- 25:22Speaker 5: on the Kraken side and also on what the Kings
- 25:25Speaker 5: are trying to get after in this first matchup.
- 25:29Speaker 16: I know the coach while we coached together for years
- 25:31Speaker 16: in the Islanders, really good coach. We'll put an emphasis
- 25:34Speaker 16: on the defensive game for sure. So we've seen that
- 25:36Speaker 16: right if you look at their numbers, strong defensive team,
- 25:39Speaker 16: so we'll be ready for that.
- 25:42Speaker 5: That's referencing Jim Hiller's time with Lane Lambert. The two
- 25:45Speaker 5: coaching back with the New York Islanders for three seasons
- 25:48Speaker 5: between twenty nineteen and twenty twenty two, all under the
- 25:52Speaker 5: watchful eye of head coach Barry Trotz. Their King storylines
- 25:56Speaker 5: first Out begin with first off the Kraken, trying to
- 25:59Speaker 5: find a way to handle kempe He's got points in
- 26:01Speaker 5: four of the last five games and against the Kraken
- 26:04Speaker 5: six goals head to head, top line guy out there
- 26:07Speaker 5: with Alex Leferrier and and Jacob Patard. Those six goals
- 26:10Speaker 5: he has, by the way, ty with Trevor Moore first
- 26:13Speaker 5: against the Kraken among all Kings skaters. Secondly, it's finding
- 26:17Speaker 5: a way to handle Kevin Fiala, who is a playmaker deluxe.
- 26:21Speaker 5: Sixteen assists against the Krack and that's third all time
- 26:23Speaker 5: of anyone against the Kraken head to head, and it's
- 26:26Speaker 5: twenty one points right now, second behind Kempe on the Kings.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Also ten goals that ties him as well with Campey
- 26:33Speaker 5: and third and last as well Anton Forrestberg in net
- 26:37Speaker 5: his first appearance in the last five games. He is
- 26:40Speaker 5: three to one all time against the Kraken and a
- 26:42Speaker 5: pretty hard guy to get through nine two nine say
- 26:45Speaker 5: percentage last game nineteen saves on twenty shots on the
- 26:48Speaker 5: twenty ninth of November, and the Kraken trying to stop
- 26:51Speaker 5: him from getting wins in back to back games for
- 26:54Speaker 5: the first time this season.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Everetten.

- 29:11Speaker 2: Now back to Krakin Hockey on the Global Credit Union
- 29:14Speaker 2: Kraken Audio Network.
- 29:17Speaker 3: We're back inside of Climbing Pledgerina Verard fits you Al
- 29:20Speaker 3: Kaniski alongside Kracking, wrapping up a three game homestand with
- 29:24Speaker 3: the La Kings trying to snap a five game regulation loss,
- 29:30Speaker 3: six game overall losing streak. O five and one are
- 29:35Speaker 3: the Kraken in their last six games, but still as
- 29:38Speaker 3: of tonight as we enter this game, just three points
- 29:42Speaker 3: back of that second a final wildcard spot with the
- 29:44Speaker 3: Kings tonight the Utah Mammoth coming up here on Thursday.
- 29:48Speaker 3: So the Kracking win both these games and they're right
- 29:50Speaker 3: back in the playoff spot, which goes to show you
- 29:53Speaker 3: how tight this league is this season. And I feel
- 29:56Speaker 3: like every year a six game losing streak would take
- 29:58Speaker 3: you out of it.
- 29:59Speaker 1: But this might be the year where a team potentially
- 30:02Speaker 1: could come back. But you've got two teams. You are strong.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Defensively, It's gonna be a battle out there tonight, Partner,
- 30:08Speaker 3: What do the krackt need to do tonight to break
- 30:11Speaker 3: the slot?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Well, first of all, they have to own the middle
- 30:13Speaker 1: of the ice.
- 30:14Speaker 4: The Kings love clogging up that neutral zone like it's
- 30:17Speaker 4: rush hour on the four or five. The Kraken need
- 30:19Speaker 4: to punch through that traffic with speed, smart chips, and
- 30:22Speaker 4: a little controlled chaos. Win the middle and the Kings
- 30:25Speaker 4: will be stuck trying to merge with foggy windows. Second,
- 30:29Speaker 4: get greasy in front of the net. La loves pretty
- 30:31Speaker 4: defensive structure, so the crackt need to make things ugly screens, tips,
- 30:36Speaker 4: hacks whacks. Think of it as turning anton Forstrom's crease
- 30:39Speaker 4: into a construction go So the more net front chaos,
- 30:43Speaker 4: the more the Kings start looking like commoners. And then, third,
- 30:46Speaker 4: stay five on five and keep it simple. The Kings
- 30:49Speaker 4: thrive when it could turn the game into a special
- 30:51Speaker 4: team's talent show. So the Cracket must keep this thing
- 30:54Speaker 4: it even strength as much as humanly possible. Smart sticks,
- 30:58Speaker 4: clean exits, and zero heat of the moment, penalties will
- 31:01Speaker 4: go a long way. If Seattle keeps the game five
- 31:04Speaker 4: one five, the advantage tilts firmly towards the guys with tentacles.
- 31:08Speaker 4: Stick to the plan, control the middle, recavoc in front
- 31:11Speaker 4: of the net, and stay out of the penalty box,
- 31:13Speaker 4: and the cracking will tilt the ice right out from
- 31:15Speaker 4: under the Kings. Keep this at five one five, and
- 31:18Speaker 4: suddenly all that royal swagger looks more than a costume
- 31:21Speaker 4: party gone terribly wrong. Seattle will dictate the style, the pace,
- 31:25Speaker 4: and probably the movie here at CBA, and by the
- 31:27Speaker 4: final horn, the Kings might be asking to abdicate the
- 31:30Speaker 4: throne voluntarily.
- 31:32Speaker 1: You did it again. It came I got abdicated game
- 31:36Speaker 1: and Kings the Coliners. That was great. Let's pause real
- 31:40Speaker 1: quick for a station I d on the Global Credit
- 31:42Speaker 1: Union Kraganautio network.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Well, al, I think in that game on Monday against Minnesota,
- 31:49Speaker 3: we the fan and and and the Kraken UH community
- 31:54Speaker 3: got what we've been looking for the last couple of weeks.
- 31:57Speaker 1: A bone crunching.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Game, changing hit, clean hit, Vince Done laying out Matt Zucarello.
- 32:05Speaker 1: He did not return to that game.
- 32:06Speaker 3: And obviously one of the one of the better good
- 32:10Speaker 3: guys in the NHL all around, as Matt and Zuparello.
- 32:12Speaker 3: You're hoping is something long term, but that's the way
- 32:15Speaker 3: hockey goes. When you see a hit like that. You
- 32:17Speaker 3: saw the response in the corner. We haven't seen a
- 32:20Speaker 3: whole lot of that, that team toughness that we've been
- 32:24Speaker 3: talking a lot about the last couple of years.
- 32:26Speaker 1: It was really good to see that hit from Done.
- 32:29Speaker 4: It absolutely was. And whether you're the giver of the
- 32:32Speaker 4: hit in the case Vince Done, or you're on the
- 32:34Speaker 4: bench watching the hit, it gets you fired up. And
- 32:37Speaker 4: I always remember as a player, you know, getting into
- 32:39Speaker 4: a hockey game, especially that first ten minutes, those first
- 32:42Speaker 4: few shifts, trying to set the tone.
- 32:44Speaker 1: One of the ways you do that is physicality.
- 32:46Speaker 4: And if you can get a hit like that early
- 32:47Speaker 4: in that first period, not only do you get in
- 32:49Speaker 4: the game, but it gets your team into the game
- 32:51Speaker 4: as well.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Speaking of physicality, a couple of line changes here to
- 32:54Speaker 3: I Jamie Alexiak comes back in for Josh Bahera Ben
- 32:57Speaker 3: Myers called up yesterday. We'll take Ty Carcier spot on
- 33:01Speaker 3: the left side of that fourth line. So another opportunity
- 33:05Speaker 3: for Ben Myers, who when he's played here for the
- 33:08Speaker 3: Seattle Krack and you and I, amongst other folks on
- 33:11Speaker 3: this press row here have been really impressed by his play.
- 33:14Speaker 4: Yeah, he stood out too times he's been up here
- 33:16Speaker 4: to play with the Kracking and I'm looking forward to
- 33:18Speaker 4: see how he does here on the wing with Goodreau
- 33:20Speaker 4: in the middle and winter Throw on that right side.
- 33:22Speaker 4: It could be a real gritty line or physical line,
- 33:25Speaker 4: a line that can go soften the opposition out there.
- 33:28Speaker 1: That's what he brings.
- 33:29Speaker 4: And then as far as Jimiy Alexiak coming back in
- 33:31Speaker 4: the lineup, you know, Jaden Schwartz is out right now.
- 33:33Speaker 4: He leads this team, this cracking team in takeaways. Takeaways
- 33:36Speaker 4: is such an important part of the game.
- 33:37Speaker 1: It's when you lift a guy's stick and literally take
- 33:40Speaker 1: the puck away.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Well after Jayden Schwartz, it's Brandon Montour and Jamie Alexiak
- 33:44Speaker 4: at twelve in second and third place. So you get
- 33:47Speaker 4: Alexiak back in the lineup, you get takeaways happening a
- 33:50Speaker 4: little more frequently.
- 33:51Speaker 1: That means you just have the puck under stick bore.
- 33:52Speaker 3: We've got a great off the ice story line these
- 33:55Speaker 3: next seventy two hours for Seattle, it's the annual fathers
- 33:58Speaker 3: and mentors trip for the Crack and they'll be off
- 34:01Speaker 3: to Utah tomorrow with the team as well.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Weirdly enough, the LA Kids Mother's trip concludes here tonight,
- 34:08Speaker 1: so you've got.
- 34:09Speaker 3: One suite of dads and one suite of moms going
- 34:13Speaker 3: at it here tonight. And we touched on this earlier
- 34:16Speaker 3: here the pregame show served up by Frostbrew Course Life.
- 34:19Speaker 3: It's got to be such a thrill for these guys
- 34:21Speaker 3: to play in front of their parents in the NHL,
- 34:24Speaker 3: and we talked to Lane Lambert about it earlier today.
- 34:26Speaker 1: A small opportunity for them to say thank you for
- 34:30Speaker 1: all those six am rides to the rank when I
- 34:32Speaker 1: was a kidding.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Absolutely, And for some of those moms and dads on
- 34:35Speaker 4: on both sides of the ice, it's their first time
- 34:37Speaker 4: doing this. For some it's their tenth time doing this,
- 34:40Speaker 4: and they all want to do it every single time.
- 34:42Speaker 4: It's a great opportunity to, you know, get close to
- 34:45Speaker 4: your what your son does for a living again, see
- 34:48Speaker 4: those investments you made over probably ten to fifteen years
- 34:52Speaker 4: of early rides to the rank early morning practices, paying
- 34:55Speaker 4: off here at a professional level.
- 34:57Speaker 1: You know whose dad is. I'm just so proud of him.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Do you know whose dad is?
- 35:04Speaker 3: Just beaming from ear to ear every time that microphone
- 35:09Speaker 3: red light comes on?
- 35:10Speaker 1: It's Mike Beton. Mike Betton down on the course light
- 35:13Speaker 1: landing section twenty.

- 37:34Speaker 5: Cracking trying to get out of an zero five and
- 37:37Speaker 5: one skid in their first of four matchups with the Kings,
- 37:40Speaker 5: which opens up here this evening, Mike betting with you
- 37:42Speaker 5: back at Climbing Pledge Arena. Right now, here's that coach
- 37:45Speaker 5: Lane Lambert standing by what ever fits.
- 37:47Speaker 1: You, Thanks Mike Lane.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Second game in a row, the Cracking have gotten a
- 37:56Speaker 3: solid effort, but unfortunately now for the sixth game in
- 37:59Speaker 3: the row, the results have gone the other way. Just
- 38:02Speaker 3: take us back through that effort against Minnesota two nights ago.
- 38:06Speaker 9: Well, like you said, I thought it was solid. I
- 38:08Speaker 9: didn't think we started the game well, there's no excuse
- 38:11Speaker 9: for that, you know, coming off of you know, the
- 38:13Speaker 9: losses that we had and coming out at home. I
- 38:16Speaker 9: thought our goaltender played very well. But then after that
- 38:18Speaker 9: I thought the game was extremely even. You know, it
- 38:21Speaker 9: was going to be another one of those games like
- 38:23Speaker 9: Detroit or even like Dallas at home where you know
- 38:26Speaker 9: someone was gonna put away an opportunity. You know, unfortunately
- 38:32Speaker 9: we we failed to do. So, you know, told the
- 38:35Speaker 9: it at the crossbar. We had a goal post. So
- 38:39Speaker 9: you know, for the second game in a row at
- 38:42Speaker 9: home to you know, come out of that game without
- 38:46Speaker 9: any points is really disheartening and stings.
- 38:50Speaker 3: You can sense the frustration from the captain Jordan Ebley
- 38:53Speaker 3: after the game saying that, you know, paraphrasing, he needs more,
- 38:56Speaker 3: he wants more will and passion from the players. You
- 38:59Speaker 3: agree with those comments postgame now that we've had a
- 39:02Speaker 3: thirty six hours to sit and marinate on that. Just
- 39:05Speaker 3: your overall thoughts on what he said and the challenge
- 39:07Speaker 3: that's been laid down to this group.
- 39:10Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean I agree with them, and I think
- 39:14Speaker 9: that there's certain guys that are you know, able to
- 39:19Speaker 9: give us more. How we let's put it that way.
- 39:22Speaker 9: And you know, we are a team that needs everyone going.
- 39:27Speaker 9: We've said that right from day one. And when we
- 39:31Speaker 9: don't have everyone going and we have a couple of passengers,
- 39:35Speaker 9: it makes us harder. It makes it harder for this
- 39:37Speaker 9: hockey team to win hockey games.
- 39:39Speaker 3: You've played this game for a long time, you've coached
- 39:41Speaker 3: this game for a long time. Undoubtedly you've been in
- 39:43Speaker 3: slumps before. How do you pull yourself out of something
- 39:47Speaker 3: like this?
- 39:48Speaker 1: Uh?
- 39:49Speaker 9: You just you have to stay positive, You have to
- 39:51Speaker 9: have the right mindset and be determined. You know, nobody
- 39:54Speaker 9: feels sorry for you. You can't feel sorry for yourself,
- 39:58Speaker 9: you know. And sometimes it gets better worse before it
- 40:01Speaker 9: gets better.
- 40:02Speaker 1: It just it's the way it is.
- 40:03Speaker 9: But if you come in with the right mindset, you
- 40:06Speaker 9: continue to stay determined and you continue to believe in
- 40:08Speaker 9: the process, you know, for me, you'll get out of it.
- 40:14Speaker 9: You know, we have played very well this year. You know,
- 40:17Speaker 9: our first twenty games were really good. And you know,
- 40:21Speaker 9: it's not like we can't do it. We have to
- 40:23Speaker 9: get back to what we're doing and get back to our.
- 40:25Speaker 3: Identity despite the dip in the season. Right now the
- 40:28Speaker 3: crack and still within reaching distance of a playoff spot,
- 40:31Speaker 3: a lot of hockey left to go, and two teams
- 40:34Speaker 3: coming up that are ahead of you in the standings
- 40:36Speaker 3: in LA and Utah starting tonight with the Los Angeles Kings,
- 40:39Speaker 3: like Seattle, very defensively structured, they're not going to give
- 40:42Speaker 3: up a whole lot. What type of game can we
- 40:45Speaker 3: expect when you essentially have you know, two strong defensive
- 40:50Speaker 3: teams going.
- 40:50Speaker 9: Up against each other, Well, it's going to be a
- 40:52Speaker 9: game that is going to require determination to get to
- 40:57Speaker 9: the other teams that they're a big hockey team for size,
- 41:02Speaker 9: you know, the defenses is very big as well, So
- 41:05Speaker 9: the battle is going to be you know, at the paint.
- 41:09Speaker 9: I don't think you can expect, you know, to make
- 41:13Speaker 9: a whole bunch of tic tac toe plays. You've got
- 41:16Speaker 9: to get greasy and you've got to get pucks to
- 41:17Speaker 9: the net. That's just the way it's going to be.
- 41:19Speaker 9: So I would expect that type of game, and you
- 41:23Speaker 9: know you have to stay patient in that and you know,
- 41:26Speaker 9: not come out of character or take too many risks
- 41:29Speaker 9: because that's what teams like us and teams like them
- 41:32Speaker 9: are looking for. And then you know you want to
- 41:35Speaker 9: transition and you know, take advantage of those opportunities. So
- 41:40Speaker 9: be a very very very very heavy challenging hockey game tonight.
- 41:45Speaker 3: It's the dads and Mentors' trips, So an opportunity for
- 41:48Speaker 3: the players to show their their dads, their mentors, their uncles,
- 41:51Speaker 3: whoever may be, that all of those six am drive
- 41:54Speaker 3: to the rink, we're worth it. At one point, what
- 41:56Speaker 3: does a trip like this mean for the players? You
- 41:59Speaker 3: yourself as a father, you know, all of that that
- 42:02Speaker 3: goes into showing that appreciation for the men who helped
- 42:06Speaker 3: get these guys to where they are now.
- 42:08Speaker 9: Well, that's it, right, Like nobody would be here without
- 42:12Speaker 9: you know, their dads, and you know, some of those
- 42:15Speaker 9: that don't have you know, their dads with them anymore,
- 42:18Speaker 9: they have mentors and you know, so it's an honor.
- 42:24Speaker 9: I think it's it's honoring them and you know, it's
- 42:28Speaker 9: a nice way to include them in their sons' lives
- 42:31Speaker 9: and the daily happenings of their lives. You know, we
- 42:36Speaker 9: play in the National Hockey League. It's a privilege. It's
- 42:38Speaker 9: the best league in the world and we get treated
- 42:40Speaker 9: very very well. So it's nice for the dads and
- 42:44Speaker 9: mentors to come and be able to experience that. You know,
- 42:48Speaker 9: in the LA King's mothers are on this trip too,
- 42:51Speaker 9: so it's just everyone involved. It's really nice to be
- 42:53Speaker 9: able to, I guess quote unquote give back, but really
- 42:57Speaker 9: showed an appreciation for all the sacrifices that they've made
- 43:00Speaker 9: for our guys to be here.
- 43:02Speaker 5: And that's why it makes this week extra special. That's
- 43:05Speaker 5: a coach, Lane Lambert, stay tuned your lineup start next.
