- 8:24I'm gonna bring them up one by one and allow them to introduce themselves.
- 8:30I'm gonna bring all three of them in the studio though, and then
- 8:33I'm gonna move on out the way so they can introduce themselves one by one
- 8:37and then y'all, we're gonna allow them to share their pieces. So y'all
- 8:41let me hold on. We w wasn't on Somemon. I don't know why
- 8:46I won't let Simon. It's not letting her in the studio. Mm hmm,
- 8:52now I tell you, But it's okay, it's okay. We're gonna
- 8:56start. We're gonna start. Since it wanted to keep someone, we're gonna
- 9:03we're gonna start with them first. It wanted to keep us, we gonna
- 9:09let her start first. So Simon, if you would please tell us a
- 9:11little bit about yourself Okay, my name is Simon. I am uh kind
- 9:20of new to the poetry uh scene. I'm enjoying it immenseally. And UH.
- 9:26I am also uh in ministry. I'm an author, and I'm also
- 9:33a publisher, and I do also have uh a hair business uh break with
- 9:39Brady Wiggs and so on top of that, I'm a mother, grandmother,
- 9:45and a wife. So that is uh and the just me. Wow.
- 9:52Well, welcome to the Crew podcast Open my poetry showcase on tonight. And
- 10:00now we're gonna allow miss Brenda to come on and tell us a little bit
- 10:05about her sin. Hi, miss Brenda, how are you? I am
- 10:09blessed. I am so honored to be on your mic show tonight, Visionary
- 10:16Angela. It is a blessing that you just open up your arms and just
- 10:22push us. But I am a pastor. I'm under the leadership of Michael
- 10:30Rose here in Los Angeles, California at the Wrecking Crew for Christ Church.
- 10:35I am a playwright, producer and director of my own stage play and it
- 10:41is called The Five Foolish Virgins and you can find us on Facebook. We
- 10:48have our own Facebook page. I am also a poet. I dabbled in
- 10:56a little poetry. A couple of years back, I had a business and
- 11:03it was called Prophetic Plaques, So I had kind of put it on the
- 11:07shelf, uh, And I would do poems and poetry for people. And
- 11:13you know, I found out that those that were not believers, the way
- 11:18I could tap into their work was to poetry. And that's how I discovered
- 11:24that I could do a little poetry. So later on I am going to
- 11:28share a little poetry that I wrote. I am also a grandmother. I
- 11:31have five grandchildren and four great grands and I love them. So that's just
- 11:37a little bit about me. So if I can get Trevino in, she
- 11:46said some connection, but she's having some connection problems. It's not that it
- 11:52wasn't it's not letting her in, but she'll be back in. I'd say,
- 11:56the enemy, I don't know. The enemy always be visiting when it's
- 12:00time for people to come forth and share those that He always be trying to
- 12:03keep silent. But I bind that spirit in the name of Jesus. Jesus,
- 12:09We're gonna keep on pushing. We keep on going. We don't stop,
- 12:15we keep on going. We're gonna Hello Latanya, Hello, Shannette,
- 12:18Hello, Melanie. They say, hello, ladies, we're gonna go ahead
- 12:22and get some poetry going. I say, I I dibble and dabble a
- 12:28little bit. As soon as we can get Terita in, we'll allow her
- 12:33to come on and introduce herself. But I can tell people a little bit
- 12:37about it. But I want her to come on and tell it, because
- 12:39ain't nobody tell like she can tell it? You know what I'm saying,
- 12:43nobody tell. Can't nobody tell our story? Like wen? I always like
- 12:48for everybody to tell their own story because I might leave something out, even
- 12:54though I want to tell everything, I might leave something now. I might
- 12:56leave by something important that needs to be told. So we're gonna wait.
- 13:00We're gonna wait for her to come on. But I wish I could bring
- 13:03both. I'm gonna get out of this screen because I want to bring both
- 13:07of y'all up. I don't want to see. Okay, Yeah, I
- 13:11like this better. I like I know, I like the spotlight. Some
- 13:16people like to be on the spotlight, but I like I like them.
- 13:20I like that one better right now, So I want I want to know.
- 13:24So for me, I'm gonna talk about why I got into poetry.
- 13:28So I kept hearing, you know, a lot of people. This was
- 13:31some years ago, I want to say, back in two thousand, eighteen,
- 13:37twenty nineteen, right before the pandemic was hit, and I was hearing
- 13:41a lot of people talk about how Portal was dying out. You know,
- 13:45I was hearing a lot of people saying that Portrait was dying out, and
- 13:48me, I was like, it can't be dying out the way I see
- 13:52all of us. It was more of us, you know, really,
- 13:56you know, we were starting to have open mics, were having poetry.
- 14:01You know, I was starting to hear podcasts with nothing but poetry and just
- 14:05different stuff around poetry, you know, just popping up and being in my
- 14:11miss And now I see every time I look on a platform. Now I
- 14:16guess it's because I'm always posting stuff about poetry. But every time I look
- 14:20on a platform, I see something that has to do with poetry. So
- 14:26when people were thinking that poetry was dead, it is yet alive. And
- 14:31you know, I'm keep it, you know, I'm just trying to keep
- 14:35it. You know, I'm just trying to keep it out there because it
- 14:37has been very it has been very important and detrimental for us as brown people
- 14:43because we use poetry back doing slavery. You know, that was you know
- 14:50a lot of how we expressed, you know. And then with poetry,
- 14:54poetry is not like writing a structured center sentence. Poetry. It's not like,
- 15:00you know, having to worry about grammar, having to worry about a
- 15:03structure, because your word and that word may mean something different to you than
- 15:09it means to the next person. So everybody that reads something, we may
- 15:13read the same poem, but we may not get the same theme from it.
- 15:18Right. You know that thing I'm telling you because I've been in a
- 15:20place where someone has been spitting poetry and then somebody people have been drawn and
- 15:28they're supposed to have been drawing. What they were hearing, what the point
- 15:35was speaking was what they were supposed to have been drawing and painting. Like
- 15:37somebody was painting, somebody was drawing, somebody was sculping, like they was
- 15:41doing different stuff, and they was coming out with different And then you may
- 15:46have two people doing the same thing, but even they whatever they was doing
- 15:50was still different. And then I've been in a place where people have just
- 15:54painted, and they've painted what the poet was speaking, and you got two
- 16:00different pope. You got two different poetraits even coming from this, you know,
- 16:06I say it's all upon the beholder, who hears it, who's getting
- 16:11it, who's grass being said? I think let me see if at least
- 16:17she can come over. Trieda. I know it was some technical difficult We've
- 16:21been trying to get you on, but it wouldn't let me pull you up
- 16:23if you would introduce yourself that those that are tuned in know a little bit
- 16:27about you. Okay, I'm mnst try y'all. My camera will not connect
- 16:33now. I don't know what happened, but I am here. I'm gonna
- 16:37try to log in on my phone and see what happens there in just a
- 16:38few minutes. But I am Trevita. I am the smallest one in the
- 16:44bunch. I'm smallest at you, but big in spirit, big and heart,
- 16:48big and everything else. Even though I only stand four feet eight inches
- 16:52tall, you never know that. I am a mother of three, grandmother
- 16:56of two. I am a stroke survivor. I am also a cr information.
- 17:03I call myself a warrior because that condition. I never know how I'm
- 17:07gonna be from day to day. I've lost my speech, my ability to
- 17:11walk, but God said, I have something else for you to do,
- 17:14so you will get all of those things back. So I am a author,
- 17:18a publisher, an editor, a podcast host. I don't know what
- 17:26else there is that I don't do, because I also do hair. I
- 17:33do a whole bunch of stuff. So that's me in a nutshell. That's
- 17:38it. Wow. So I guess it's almost that time for us to go
- 17:48ahead and share our piece and allow some people to to hear some of y'all
- 17:57words. So I want to start with We'll start with miss Amone. Okay,
- 18:10the poem that I'm going to share with everyone today, it's a poem
- 18:15about my son. He was killed in twenty twenty from with gun from gun
- 18:22from gun violence, and it's called Missing Ashton. In the quiet of the
- 18:30night, this mother does weep for the sorrow in my heart was so deep.
- 18:36The vibrant life of my son is no longer near. His embrace and
- 18:41love I can no longer feel. At twenty three, gun violence took him
- 18:45away. Oh how I wish he did not go to that party that day.
- 18:51His infectuous smile has touched so many I did not know during COVID his
- 18:57homegoing with people overflowed. My God, how could this be? My son
- 19:03is here no more? God offers me this scripture a promise, so dear
- 19:11that in the midst of grief and lost, his presence is near. For
- 19:15I am with you always, he said, and also declared, he said,
- 19:22praise me, because at that party, your second son was spared.
- 19:29In every shadow, in every tear, you will never be alone. So
- 19:33at that moment I said, depression be gone. I began to praise and
- 19:41shout. I knew that he would never leave or forsake me, no doubt.
- 19:48He is in heaven with our Savior and King, and I will forever
- 19:53let God's praise this ring. For God has truly kept me through this journey
- 20:00and have helped me and have through this journey. And I've helped more than
- 20:07one, two or three, and have learned not to let grief overtake me.
- 20:14You see what the devil meant to destroy me failed. I'm no longer.
- 20:19I'm stronger than ever. I know in my heart that all is well,
- 20:26beautiful, beautiful, nice Comida. Can you share a piece? Yes,
- 20:37me and I can definitely share one. Let me. I got so
- 20:44many. I'm trying to decide which one I want to share. Let's see
- 20:51this one is called how many more pieces? How many more pieces of me?
- 20:56Are you going to take? I am tired. I've just about reach
- 21:00my breaking point. I have given up so much, and yet there's still
- 21:03it. Still isn't enough. My body is weak and so is my mind.
- 21:07Yes, I've prayed so many times, look at the damage that I've
- 21:11left behind. The more good I create for those around me, the less
- 21:15of it is left for me. I know that I have to wait my
- 21:18turn, But exactly when will that be? God? I know that you
- 21:22are Are you even listening? Do you even hear me? I know that
- 21:26the journey can be long and hard, but does every single step have to
- 21:30be that way? I know that I should not question you because you have
- 21:34brought me through every single thing that was meant to break me, and I
- 21:38am still here. I just feel like myself. I don't feel like myself,
- 21:44and I'm breaking and I don't know how much more I can take.
- 21:47I understand that I've been through worse and I overcame it all. How much
- 21:52more must I endure before I can take a break? Will it be on
- 21:56this side or the other? I'm physically and mentally exhausted. How many more
- 22:00pieces of me will be left to share? I'm trying to figure out just
- 22:04how to maneuver this current situation. Please God just help me stay focused and
- 22:10to get to the other side. Wow, Brenda, your turn. Okay.
- 22:23My poem is about I wrote a book it's called Breakdown to Breakthrough,
- 22:32and this poem is written from what I went through. My personal testimony is
- 22:41about myself going through a mental breakdown from a divorce. It was a horrible
- 22:48breakdown. I almost went to a sanitarium, but through the word of God
- 22:53and through the power of God, God delivered me. So this is the
- 22:59poem I wrote. Trust in God. When you are in a dark place,
- 23:06it seems like time slows everything down. The challenges of life can take
- 23:12you around and around. You must keep fighting daily to stay above water,
- 23:22for life itself just gets harder and harder. When trying to dig yourself out
- 23:29of the storms and the rain, you must call on God to deliver you
- 23:36from your pain. Sometimes you may feel like no one really cares, But
- 23:42how can anybody help you? If you do not open up and share The
- 23:48cares of this world can cause anxiety, depression and fear. But you must
- 23:56remember that Jesus is all alas near. When the fog of life dims your
- 24:03light, you must pray and the Holy Spirit will give you insight. S
- 24:11not saying it's too hard and why did this happen to me? It is
- 24:18time to take authority and tell the devil to flee. You must stand on
- 24:25the word of God and use Jesus' name, for God will never leave you
- 24:33or let you be put to shame. That's the point. Wow. Wow,
- 24:41So you said you wrote this in the midst of almost sven a nervous
- 24:48right now? No, I wrote it when you know you had advertised about
- 24:55the poetry and that you know we should write something with a brand. So
- 25:00this goes along with the brand. I just wrote wrote the poem wow,
- 25:06about what I went through from my book Breakdown to Breakthrough. Wow. So
- 25:15your book encouraged that poem. Yes, Wow, that's amazing, Glory to
- 25:25God. M So what was your process of writing that poem? I want
- 25:34to feel like, what was your process of writing that poem? I want
- 25:41to get into you as a poet. Okay, yes, ma'am, Well
- 25:48you know I knew my topic you know, was breakdown to break through m
- 25:55HM. And so my thoughts were, Okay, there was darkness, so
- 26:00I have to bring the poem show the darkness and also bring in light,
- 26:07positivity and hope. So those were my thoughts when I first sat down to
- 26:12write, uh, and then I just my thoughts came and I just started
- 26:18writing. That's how I write, as I as. It's almost like,
- 26:25uh, Like I told you before, my business was a prophetic flow.
- 26:29So it's like when I start to write, the Holy Spirit gives me the
- 26:34sentence structure, and I hear words and I tie them in. That's about
- 26:41the best I can tell you. I mean, I mean, it's your
- 26:44truth. I mean, you tell you how I get it. That's it.
- 26:49Yeah, I appreciate you sharing. I appreciate you sharing it with us.
- 26:53You're welcome. Thank you. Now we want to talk to I want
- 27:00her to share why that piece. The reason I shared that piece, so,
- 27:07I think it's because as moms, we're always given more of ourselves than
- 27:12we ever get back. It's always another piece. And even in relationships and
- 27:19friends, family, we give so much all the time. And at that
- 27:25point, I was giving so much and I just needed to get that off
- 27:30of me. So I've just decided to write it so that I can get
- 27:33those feelings out. Even if no one ever heard the poem ever did anything
- 27:40with it. I wrote it down so that I could express how I was
- 27:44feeling. And you know, a conversation with God is basically how it started.
- 27:49And I was just talking to him asking him how much more of myself
- 27:53am I going to have to give up to find out what it is that
- 27:57I have left for me? And that's where that one came from. Right,
- 28:04Wow? So you just sit down when you write? How do you
- 28:10write? Do you just just something that has come to you and you write,
- 28:14or you sit there and you think about what you're gonna write? Is
- 28:18it trying out? No? I never really think about what I'm gonna write
- 28:25or anything. It'll come to me. What I've learned to do when I'm
- 28:29having moments of because anything will come to me and I'll have I've learned to
- 28:34keep my phone close by our notepad somewhere because the beginning of a poem will
- 28:40come and I'm like, I need to write this down, and I never
- 28:42would have anything close by, and then I will forget. And so now
- 28:48I keep my phone to where I can get to my notes and jot something
- 28:52down and just keep it going that way. But that's how I usually write
- 28:57whatever it is. The beginning of a poem is always because I'm in the
- 29:03middle of doing something else, like if I'm driving or something like that,
- 29:08I can pick up my phone and do a voice record so that I can
- 29:12remember that thought process and continue on, because driving in the car in some
- 29:18mornings and I'll think about, you know, how traffic flows, and how
- 29:22people are racing to get to their destination, not understanding that wherever that destination
- 29:30is leading them, they're gonna arrive at the time that they were designed to
- 29:33be there, regardless of whatever it is, because God designs our scheduled for
- 29:37us any anytime we're moving, and it always comes to me and it's like,
- 29:42Okay, what are they in the rush for? Doesn't matter. You
- 29:47know that you woke up late and you thought you were going to be somewhere
- 29:49at this particular time. There was a reason for the delay, there was
- 29:52a reason that you overslept, so slow down. And so that's usually what
- 29:59a poem or some something will come along those lines. When I'm just minding
- 30:03my business as I say, I'm minding my business, but got put something
- 30:08like that in the atmosphere and I'm like, okay, let me write this
- 30:11down or let me do a voice recording so that i can continue on with
- 30:17that. But that's my writing process. I don't really have one that's a
- 30:22steady one, but that's usually how it works for me. Wow, Wow,
- 30:32the mom, let's talk about your form and your writing process. Okay,
- 30:40so my writing process on this. How this poem came about was when
- 30:47you had the poet feature for the magazine and it was about a poem that
- 30:55represents your brand. Even though I've written two different books, they're both encouraging
- 31:02books, but I find myself more of working with people when it comes to
- 31:11grief and death, especially you know, mothers, the same as as I've
- 31:17gone through. So when I went to sat down, and I sat down,
- 31:21and you know, I thought it would be nice if I could tap
- 31:25into the book that I had already wrote. It was called I Choose to
- 31:30Live, Pushing through the Grieving Process, which kind of basically explained my journey
- 31:34as a mom losing her son and also giving people encouragement and hope. So
- 31:41that's how this came about. And so when I went to sit down to
- 31:45think about my son, I just was thinking about, you know, basically
- 31:52what his death took from me, you know, being able to be near
- 31:56him and missing him and missing his smile, missing his voice. But at
- 32:00the same time, the story doesn't end right there. God basically picked me
- 32:07up and he gave me an extra push, and he gave me, uh,
- 32:15he gave me a will and a push to continue to live this particular
- 32:22journey without him. Uh So that's where towards the end of the poem came
- 32:28and to also gave to give people hope that that God is there with you
- 32:34and through this and and he'll guide you and he you know you you will
- 32:38you know you will get get through this journey. And so that's how basically
- 32:44the thought process of this particular poem came came about. Uh, you know,
- 32:49it's just basically losing losing my son. And so, like I said,
- 32:52I'm kind of new to the poetry. Uh. I didn't even know
- 32:58I could write a poem maybe about two months ago. But that's the thing
- 33:06about stepping out. Sometimes we have gifts and things inside of us that we
- 33:09haven't even tapped. Into that we don't even know that we can do because
- 33:13we don't try. So so that's that's that's basically. And I've I've written
- 33:17maybe two other poems for another anthology, and it just it just blew my
- 33:22way that I could even write something. So that this is my journey as
- 33:27in the poetry scene, and I look to write many many more poems to
- 33:32come. Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome. So I'm going to share.
- 33:39Let me let me come back over there. So I'm going to share
- 33:45a poem that I wrote. I want you to be thinking of if y'all
- 33:51don't have poems together, I want you to be getting them together because I
- 33:57want your to share another poem like we got time, We still got it's
- 34:01not even seven o'clock. We still got plenty of time, y'all. So
- 34:06next, oh yeah, So I want you to get comfortable and ready to
- 34:13share after I shared this one, I want y'all, I'm gonna go back
- 34:16and bring each one of you up and I'm gonna let you guys share again.
- 34:20But this is one that I wrote in this book. This is book
- 34:27number one of the Silently Hurt Inside, Hurting No More series, bringing awareness
- 34:31to mental brown and black mental illness. And I wrote this poem. It's
- 34:37called My Soul Cries Out. It says, my soul cries out. It's
- 34:44a sound of pain, a plea for help, a silent reframe. It's
- 34:50a voice of anguish, a cry of despair. It's a plea of understanding,
- 34:55a silent prayer. It's a call for help, a plea for relief.
- 35:00It's a desperate cry for a life of belief. My soul cries out.
- 35:07It's a sound of hope and plea for help, a silent elope.
- 35:12And that's that piece. And it's called My Soul Cries Out. And it
- 35:17is one of the poems that I wrote for the Silently Hurt, Inside Hurt
- 35:22the More series. This book was find Finding Forgiveness was the subtitle of this
- 35:30book. And everyone in here, you know, we wrote. We wrote
- 35:35about different things, you know. Some wrote about just the rising of the
- 35:43sun, you know, and and how that was able to help them forgive.
- 35:50We had some that you know, they they were looking for motivation.
- 35:54They they wrote about, you know, where they were. Some wrote wrote
- 35:59a out they tried and how they had to learn to forgive themselves and forgive
- 36:04others. Wrote about letting go, venting and letting it out and sharing,
- 36:10you know. But I have found through poetry that it is a way for
- 36:17me to release and not be concerned about the cares of grammar, the cares
- 36:27of a sentence structure, because these are my words, these are my thoughts,
- 36:31this is how I feel, you know, And who's to say that
- 36:37this is right or wrong. So that's the one thing about poetry that I
- 36:42have loved. You know that they have different I mean there's probably about twenty
- 36:46five thirty different ways that you can write a poem. But I love freestyle.
- 36:52You don't have known nothing, you don't have to worry about nothing.
- 36:54That's my favorite year. I love writing that. I am the visionary of
- 37:04I think. I have nine poetry books and all of them are collaborations because
- 37:10I truly believe and allow individuals to share and to be a part of the
- 37:17things that I do. I am currently working on a three book series.
- 37:23It's about legacy and leaving a legacy. The first one is called The Seeds
- 37:30of Immortality, the second one is called The Footprints and the Sands Sometime.
- 37:37The third one is Echoes of Eternity, and it just gives people an opportunity
- 37:47to share about legacy as well as life, you know, and you know
- 37:52understanding that this is this is not our home, you know, but we
- 37:57have to leave a legacy. We have to leave you something that would be
- 38:00able to live immortally, that will live on, you know, even when
- 38:06we're gone. And and and we have to understand that. So I God
- 38:10dropped that in spirit. And then I had the opportunity to work with some
- 38:15amazing people that helped me put together the book covers. For them, I
- 38:21like them, they happen to be amazing to me. And and it really
- 38:25resonated to what each section was about and about different things. So that's what
- 38:32I'm working on. And and and that's a little bit about me, but
- 38:37those that were wonder wn and that's and that's why I that's why I write.
- 38:44I just want to express. And then I just want to give people
- 38:46an opportunity to see all sides of me. You know. They see me
- 38:51doing a lot of these podcasts, so they think that hey, that girl
- 38:53got it together. No, I don't have it all together. Sometimes I
- 38:57be having some issues, so sometimes I have to write it out and sometimes
- 39:00I have to deal with I have to sit back and I have to look
- 39:04at them, you know, And it's all about being transparent and people understanding
- 39:07that, you know, hey, she real, she's she's a human,
- 39:10just like I am. She's no different than I am. So hey,
- 39:15that's what this is about. So y'all got them poems together. But before
- 39:20I go, I'm gonna do a commercial. I'm I'm gonna go to a
- 39:22commercial, and then we're gonna come back, and then we're gonna allow everybody
- 39:27to share peace. And then I know they wanted they like I was time
- 39:30to go by. They trying to rush time by, but it ain't going
- 39:35nowhere. I'm going we got twenty more minutes and we're gonna enjoy them.
- 39:38Twenty giving away one of Robert L. Horton's it is called Imagine Yes,
- 39:49And I have to, Yeah, I have to show this book out because
- 39:51guess what I am on page I am the very nast poem in this book.
- 39:59I'm very like in this book. And then I am a bonus poem.
- 40:01So that means I was I was at it because I was worthy enough.
- 40:07I guess. I don't know, but it's cause and when I tell
- 40:10you this thing spoke to me, and it spoke of me, and it
- 40:15spoke up about me. And this man didn't know nothing that I was going
- 40:20through because I had not spoken to him. When I saw this book,
- 40:22I cried. He had no way of knowing it because I had not talked
- 40:25to him, didn't even though I was going to be in the book.
- 40:29But when he handed me this book and I read that poem, y'all broke
- 40:31down and I cried. I teared up because it was everything that I had
- 40:36been going through. And just to read these poems, y'all. And when
- 40:40I tell y'all, when y'all hear history, this man had poems, wrote
- 40:45books or poems just over twenty years wow. His wife said, what are
- 40:52you going to do with these poems? And he began to publish them.
- 40:55And when I tell you, these poems are speaking to the now generation,
- 41:00I call him the Prothetic poet because he definitely prophesied and some of that,
- 41:08because he wrote them things some time ago and they speaking to the now generation
- 41:13and they still gonna speak and it's just amazing. But I have these books
- 41:16that I'm gonna I'm gonna be giving these two books away. I want Trevida
- 41:23and Mss Barbera to pick two numbers, and then whoever gets them numbers,
- 41:29I want you all to put them in the private chat. They can't see
- 41:30them, only I can see them. And you guys, y'all put the
- 41:35numbers in there, and whoever guess them or come within two of those numbers
- 41:39before we end this broadcast, they're gonna win one book, and then we're
- 41:45gonna be given another one away during the next hour as well. And then
- 41:50I'm gonna give one of my poetry books away as well to someone. And
- 41:59then of course everyone is gonna be able to put a number. So it's
- 42:05gonna be two numbers. Whoever guess just in case we have h Okay,
- 42:14so I got which one't your reader? You get one because somebody else got
- 42:17one. Okay, so we got two numbers. We got the two numbers.
- 42:24They have until seven o'clock. I guess the numbers if whoever comes within.
- 42:31So we got miss Brenda's number up. Now I want you to guess
- 42:35Miss Brenda's number. If you're if you're chimed in. Now you guess miss
- 42:39Brenda's number, You're going to win a copy of Mister Roberts book. I
- 42:45don't know why it's not showing. It won't show good when I'm on the
- 42:49background, but I have to turn it a certain way so I hope y'all
- 42:52can see it. Oh so while they we're gonna go to commercial, and
- 43:20when we come back, we're gonna let them drop those pieces. Y'all be
- 43:23thinking of them numbers while we at on commercial. Y'all nowhere near the numbers.
- 43:30You know, you may be okay, you'll be ready for ready,
- 43:46they ready, they said they ready. They wait on me to go to
- 43:49commercial. Go to commercial. Angela mm hmmm, mm hmm. Don't take
- 43:55commercial Angel Love. Hiring Authors Magazine is a founding sponsor for doc Crew podcast.

- 44:45Mark your calendars. May eighteen, eleven a m. To three pm
- 44:50Central Standard time. We have some amazing authors, some amazing business owners that's
- 44:55going to be sharing about their brand. We have some workshop facilitators that's gonna
- 45:00be coming out. They're gonna be teaching on bad. We bat we bat
- 45:08we back we bad bad. Let me see. Oh wow, I guess
- 45:16I should have. Somebody said sixty two. Somebody said, funny, they're
- 45:21not close. They know what's close on. Y'all. Well, we gonna
- 45:24let them drop them pieces. We gonna let them drop them pieces. We're
- 45:28gonna start with wan'na start with Charita. Don't start with Charita today, just
- 45:35go around. We're gonna start with Charita. Let's see what she got,
- 45:38y'all. All right, this one is entitled our Little Black Boys. Our
- 45:44little black boys are not viewed as the same as your little white boys.
- 45:47Please don't tell me that. To stop making this about race, because we
- 45:52are not the only ones bringing it. We are the ones that aren't being
- 45:55heard. There's definitely a difference between these two little black boys and little white
- 46:00boys. Yet it's their innocence that gets stolen from them in the beginning.
- 46:06Stop talking and just listen for a minute. If you put these two small
- 46:10children into a room together, without the interference or influence of the adults who
- 46:16are filled with nothing but hay, you will see love, compassion, sharing,
- 46:22hearing the sound of children laughing and yeah, maybe even a brief,
- 46:24little argument about the rules of a made up game that changes. But that's
- 46:29what children do. Unfortunately, our little black boys don't get a chance to
- 46:34be looked at as innocent. He's simply already being accused of a crime,
- 46:38and that is simply being born black, which is a choice he didn't have,
- 46:44excuse me, So every single move that he makes has to be strategic
- 46:50so that it doesn't cost him his life. Oh wait, the simple thing
- 46:53that your white son can do, like driving, listening to music, buying
- 46:57skittles, riding in a car, doesn't cost him his life. But our
- 47:01little black boys it could cost them their lives. So please don't tell me
- 47:06about how many black friends you have, because if you can count them,
- 47:08that means that they are just numbers to you and not truly friends. Don't
- 47:13even say that you don't look at color and you look at character, because
- 47:16that speaks volumes too. Let your actions speak for you. By standing with
- 47:22us and speaking up against the senseless killing of us, maybe you will understand
- 47:27when your child's name is behind a rest in peace hashtag. Wow Wow,
- 47:37it's Brenda. Okay. I wrote this poem for another anthology and the name
- 47:51of the poem is Stop saying you do not know what to do. Stop
- 47:58saying you do not know what to do, for God Almighty lives on the
- 48:02inside of you. Look inside yourself to see hidden treasures God has to bestowed.
- 48:10You have generational gifts and talents waiting to unfold. Stop saying you do
- 48:17not know what to do, for you are worth more than rubies, diamonds
- 48:22and gold. God gave you all things and the world to withhold. You
- 48:29are God's kings and priests, ordained to walk in victory because your Lord and
- 48:36Savior died on the cross at Calvary. It is time to wake up and
- 48:40walk in your God given authority. You can cast out devils, for you
- 48:46have the ability. Stop saying do not know what to do. For God
- 48:52hath put his anointing solely upon you. Just take your imaginations and dreams and
- 49:00spread your wings. God is going to show you witty inventions and do a
- 49:06new thing. All you need to do is decree God's word, pray and
- 49:14fast, for what you have decreed will surely come to pass. Divine knowledge
- 49:21and wisdom reside on the inside of you. The Holy Ghost is waiting to
- 49:28make things happen just for you. You can do all things through Christ,
- 49:34who strengthens you. Just listen to God's voice and he will tell you what
- 49:40to do. Down in your spirit is denymous power waiting for you to demonstrate
- 49:46God's chain breaking power. Demons and devils have no real power. It is
- 49:52time to set the captives free. At this very hour, people are dying
- 49:59and are waiting on you. It is time to break the change that only
- 50:04you can do. Now you can stop saying I do not know what to
- 50:09do, because now you see you have so much work to do. And
- 50:15that's that one wow wow com This particular poem is called Salvation's Salvation Plea.
- 50:34It's Lord here, I am standing here with the plea. Throughout all that
- 50:38I have done against THEE. Do not take your holy spirit away from me.
- 50:44You are my joy. You are my love, joy and peace,
- 50:49my God in my king. How do I love THEE? In your presence
- 50:52is where I long to dwell. Your glory came and filled the whole atmosphere,
- 50:59and is where I found my peace. No longer will I allow the
- 51:04devil to defeat me. You healed my body, soul and mind. Your
- 51:08love for me is truly divine. My prayers are that you have and encounter
- 51:15with God so new he will come and rest in your heart like the new
- 51:22morning dew. Give your life, care and sorrow to Him today. For
- 51:27Jesus, it's the only way. Wouldn't you love to walk in the streets
- 51:31paved in gold, no longer be sick, and never grow old. And
- 51:37heaven is where I strive to be. So I work on my salvation daily.
- 51:44Just say, Jesus, come into my heart today. I believe that
- 51:50you are the only way. I believe that you died and rose on a
- 51:54third day, and I am giving you all of me today. Thank you
- 52:00Lord for saving me. Now I have a new life in you, and
- 52:04I have the victory. Just know, if you said this prayer today,
- 52:09you are now saved and now bless his name, mhm ay man. And
- 52:19that's the point. Beautiful, well ma'am. Wow, Wow, amazing,
- 52:28amazing, amazing, amazed. H So wow. I definitely want to thank

- 58:40two is still on the table. It's still on the table. The numbers
- 58:45were the number seven and the number two nine. MS Brenda our Brenda had
- 58:52number seven and Treda had number twenty nine, so no one was close.
- 59:00So y'all will be right back and we're gonna move on to our next group
- 59:05of amazing poets. All things and what things used to be? Where has
- 59:21it all? The blue sky's but boys from the North, the southing well
- 59:30person, all things ain't what they used to know. Well, welcome back,
- 59:43welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. And I know y'all probably
- 59:45wonder why does she keep playing that particular commercial. Well, I promise one
- 59:52of our hosts, who is a injustice advocate, that I would share that
- 59:59clar as much as I could to help put a face to some of these
- 1:00:04stories that we have been sharing across our network. Of course, we do
- 1:00:07a lot for injustice for those that are on for incarcerated or overly incarcerated.
- 1:00:13We understand that some people do make mistakes, but for some of these sentences
- 1:00:16that they are handing out across these United States of America, it's it's ridiculous.
- 1:00:22You give someone already a life sentence and then you hand down another one
- 1:00:27hundred and ninety two years. How do you expect them to ever come home
- 1:00:30with the sentence like that? And especially in the state of Texas, they'll
- 1:00:34want you to do fifty percent of that. If you give somebody one hundred
- 1:00:37and ninety two years and you want them to do fifty percent of that,
- 1:00:42and then they got the fight, like h ell to come home, and
- 1:00:45then everything is steady denied. It's crazy. People right now in the state
- 1:00:51of Texas are doing thirty three forty years. I have someone now that I'm helping
