Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Olivia Dean on Light FM with Cubby and Christine in
- 0:02Speaker 1: the morning and producer Kristen on this Friday, September 11th,
- 0:05Speaker 1: 25 years. We carry the memory of that day in
- 0:08Speaker 1: our hearts. And we are here all day long for you.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I do want to read a very wonderful email I
- 0:15Speaker 1: got from Mrs. Rosenberg. She's the director of my daughter's school. Yeah.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And she actually sent this to everybody. But it was
- 0:23Speaker 1: such a well-written email. And I hope she doesn't mind
- 0:26Speaker 1: if I read this. Mrs. Rosenberg. Again, the director or
- 0:30Speaker 1: principal maybe. Okay. But I think her title is director. Yeah.
- 0:34Speaker 1: And I'm not going to mention where my daughter goes,
- 0:36Speaker 1: but this is what she wrote to all the parents.
- 0:37Speaker 1: This was yesterday she sent the email. Tomorrow is September 11th.
- 0:41Speaker 1: And on this day, we pause to remember and honor
- 0:44Speaker 1: the lives lost 25 years ago and to recognize the courage, unity,
- 0:49Speaker 1: and resilience that emerged in the aftermath of that tragic event.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Patriot Day serves as a day of remembrance for nearly
- 0:56Speaker 1: 3,000 individuals who perished in the attacks, the countless first
- 1:00Speaker 1: responders and civilians who risked and sacrificed their lives to
- 1:05Speaker 1: help others, and the many families who still carry the
- 1:08Speaker 1: weight of that loss. At blank, we are committed to
- 1:14Speaker 1: teaching not only history, but also the values that sustain
- 1:18Speaker 1: us through hardship, service, compassion, courage, and community. As we reflect,
- 1:24Speaker 1: we also encourage our students to think about the ways
- 1:28Speaker 1: they can be helpers and peacemakers in their own lives
- 1:31Speaker 1: through acts of kindness, inclusion, and empathy. Together, we can
- 1:35Speaker 1: honor the past while nurturing a generation that builds a
- 1:38Speaker 1: more peaceful and united future. To our families who celebrate
- 1:42Speaker 1: Rosh Hashanah, wishing you a happy, healthy, and sweet new year.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And again, that's for Mrs. Rosenberg, the director of my
- 1:48Speaker 1: daughter's school. I just thought that was a really well-put email.
- 1:51Speaker 2: It certainly is.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:53Speaker 2: It really, really is. This is such a delicate day, Cubby.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Your kids are so young, like producer Kristen's. And we wonder,
- 2:01Speaker 2: at what point do we introduce them to the events
- 2:04Speaker 2: of September 11th, right?
- 2:06Speaker 1: It's a great question.
- 2:07Speaker 2: How much is too much? They seem to be aware
- 2:10Speaker 2: that this is a special day.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yeah, even that producer Kristen was saying at Jagger School. Mm-hmm.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Kindergarten just started.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And it's a uniform school. Yeah. But she got the
- 2:20Speaker 1: email yesterday that the kids can wear red, white, and
- 2:23Speaker 1: blue if they wish. Mm-hmm. So it's little things like that.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And I'm curious. We have a lot of teachers that
- 2:27Speaker 1: are listening right now. Yes. Are you teaching it yet? Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 1: At what age? Maybe not for Naomi's age because Naomi,
- 2:33Speaker 1: my daughter, is first grade, six years old. But is
- 2:37Speaker 1: an eighth or ninth grade teacher teaching it?
- 2:38Speaker 2: When do they start? I know. I know. I asked
- 2:40Speaker 2: my friend Laura, who's a teacher, but she teaches little ones, too,
- 2:43Speaker 2: you know, kindergartners.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:45Speaker 2: So not yet. But 44363, we'd love to hear from
- 2:48Speaker 2: the teachers. When do you start introducing this part of
- 2:52Speaker 2: our history to the kids? How do you do it?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Is it even in history books yet? Like, is it
- 2:58Speaker 1: being printed in books?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Must be, right?
- 3:01Speaker 1: It's just a lot of questions. I don't know.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I guess because for us, it's just a part of
- 3:06Speaker 2: who we are. Like we carry it.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Well said, yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 2: All the time. We carry it. And that's what we're
- 3:13Speaker 2: just wanting to say to you today. Whatever we can
- 3:16Speaker 2: do to support you, we're trying to keep the music
- 3:19Speaker 2: going and share stories that you may want to share.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Or if you need a break, you tell us you
- 3:24Speaker 2: need a break, 44363. Again, we're here for you. And
- 3:28Speaker 2: there's no right or wrong way. To do this day,
- 3:31Speaker 2: whatever it takes to get through this day.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Whatever makes you feel better or brings you some peace.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Because we, Cubby, you, I, Kristen, everyone here at iHeart,
- 3:43Speaker 2: we will never forget. And we thank you, the heroes.
- 3:47Speaker 2: We saw it in action. We can never thank you enough.
- 3:50Speaker 2: We are forever grateful.
- 3:52Speaker 1: All right. We're coming right back. Thank you, Christine. 44363
- 3:54Speaker 1: on text. It's Light FM.
