- 0:13Speaker 2: Brought to you by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers

- 0:19Speaker 2: with the career. It's Leggie on Altitude Sports Radio ninety
- 0:25Speaker 2: two five.
- 0:26Speaker 3: I'm a Baker fan, like you know, I've always liked
- 0:29Speaker 3: that guy, you know.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I think he's got from Boxie. I think he's a
- 0:34Speaker 1: tough guy.
- 0:34Speaker 3: And he's played great.
- 0:36Speaker 2: He's played great.
- 0:37Speaker 4: I've had a lot of fun with Baker through the years,
- 0:40Speaker 4: been involved in a lot of interesting stories with him,
- 0:43Speaker 4: and I'd like to see him do well.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Uh.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Jeff Legwald's colleague at ESPN, Adam Schefter on Baker Mayfield.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Jeff Legwald is brought to you by the International Brotherhood
- 0:57Speaker 4: of Electrical Workers ib e W Local sixty eight. Start
- 1:01Speaker 4: with the job and with the career. First of all,
- 1:04Speaker 4: we should just find out what's going on there, Jeff,
- 1:06Speaker 4: in terms of guys practicing or not practicing, help things
- 1:10Speaker 4: down there at Common Broncos Park at Common Spirit.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I'll be corporate good for you, thank you?
- 1:16Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, paying you to.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Well, you never know what's the latest with that stuff, Jeff.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Well, you know everybody who you would not expect to
- 1:26Speaker 3: be practicing at least uh. You know, we don't know
- 1:30Speaker 3: the level of participation of some guys, but obviously mcglinchy's
- 1:35Speaker 3: nowhere to be found. You know, I would expect him,
- 1:39Speaker 3: unless they've gotten a different report in the last twenty
- 1:44Speaker 3: four hours, to maybe go to short term. I are
- 1:46Speaker 3: here with some kind of official designation when the when
- 1:51Speaker 3: the league waiver wire hits. But beyond that, we got
- 1:54Speaker 3: to wait till after practice to see what he what
- 1:57Speaker 3: he thinks of Baron Browning especially think of the other guys.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I think that's the guy of most interest for folks
- 2:04Speaker 3: with a foot injury.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Jeff, I mean to come out the gates with drama. Okay,
- 2:09Speaker 2: if I remember correctly, did you want brock Bowers? Is
- 2:11Speaker 2: that the guy that you kind of identified that you prefer?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Well, I felt at that time, Tyler, that he was
- 2:18Speaker 3: the best player on the board Broncos pick came. I
- 2:21Speaker 3: had him in the top four in my rankings because
- 2:25Speaker 3: My feeling all along, and I said it in April
- 2:29Speaker 3: after they picked Nicks, was that they could have had
- 2:32Speaker 3: Bowers at twelve, and I think, given my information from
- 2:35Speaker 3: other teams, I think they could have gotten nicked later
- 2:38Speaker 3: in the first or early in the second. The Broncos
- 2:41Speaker 3: are vehement that someone else would take Nicks before they
- 2:46Speaker 3: could do that, but I my information at that time
- 2:49Speaker 3: from talking to teams was that was not the case.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So it's just a matter of who you believe. But
- 2:55Speaker 3: I think there was a scenario they could have had both,
- 2:57Speaker 3: and I think that would look pretty good right now.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it would. I mean, I said, I watched the
- 3:02Speaker 2: entire Raiders game this weekend, and I'll admit I was
- 3:05Speaker 2: on air saying twelve is way too high for a
- 3:06Speaker 2: tight end. I don't care who he is, but I
- 3:09Speaker 2: was watching that Raiders game this weekend. My goodness, does
- 3:11Speaker 2: this guy look like the real deal? My question for
- 3:14Speaker 2: you would be, do you think that Brock Bauers, if
- 3:17Speaker 2: we selected him, would he have made more of an
- 3:19Speaker 2: impact on this team? If Zach Wilson was his quarterback,
- 3:23Speaker 2: then bo Nicks. Will I guess long term even well?
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I guess that's one of those that
- 3:29Speaker 3: can we can all chew on. I think it's difficult
- 3:32Speaker 3: to say anybody right now and have a huge impact
- 3:35Speaker 3: in the passing game if they're not going to push
- 3:38Speaker 3: the ball down the field any more than they are,
- 3:41Speaker 3: or you know, or protect any better than they are.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I think they've got so many issues right now it's
- 3:47Speaker 3: hard to say if other people were involved, they'd be
- 3:50Speaker 3: doing better. But I mean my early concern and it is,
- 3:55Speaker 3: you know, I get it, it's two games, but I
- 4:00Speaker 3: I've written this ride many times with young quarterbacks, and
- 4:05Speaker 3: I see bo Nix's footwork already deteriorating because of either
- 4:11Speaker 3: pressure he's seen or hits he's taken. And I think,
- 4:15Speaker 3: to me, that is the immediate concern. They've got to
- 4:17Speaker 3: get his footwork squared away, or the accuracy is going
- 4:20Speaker 3: to continue to be an issue.
- 4:22Speaker 1: We got Minshews you just mentioned Raiders now now starting
- 4:27Speaker 1: for Vegas. We saw the comeback with Atlanta with Cousins
- 4:31Speaker 1: Donald starting the season. To and know, is any of
- 4:33Speaker 1: these guys that have moved from teams in a couple
- 4:38Speaker 1: of those cases just kind of been journeyman type guys.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Are you surprised that any of the success any of
- 4:43Speaker 1: those guys are average or another one.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Scotty, I think immediately. I think those
- 4:49Speaker 3: guys are playing about how I thought they would. You know,
- 4:52Speaker 3: to me, the real thing to watch, and it's not
- 4:55Speaker 3: a guy who changed teams, But to see what Clint
- 4:58Speaker 3: Kubiak has done with Carr is epic and it just
- 5:02Speaker 3: shows you that if you you know, I think the
- 5:07Speaker 3: best offenses in the league right now are either using
- 5:10Speaker 3: a high dose of pre snap motion or a high
- 5:13Speaker 3: dose of play action. That the Saints lead the league
- 5:16Speaker 3: in play action right now. The Broncos do neither, and
- 5:20Speaker 3: I think that's part of the issue. I think either
- 5:23Speaker 3: got to get on the parade or not. But on
- 5:27Speaker 3: talking to defensive coaches around the league who who believe
- 5:31Speaker 3: the Broncos are going to continue to struggle until they
- 5:33Speaker 3: adapt a little bit with what defenses are doing.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Okay, do you think that that is just Sean Payton's
- 5:40Speaker 2: philosophy or do you think that he's simply just holding
- 5:43Speaker 2: it back because he doesn't think Bonecks can handle it yet?
- 5:46Speaker 3: You know, Todda, I'd be dishonest if I said I
- 5:49Speaker 3: knew for sure. I think it's a little both, frankly,
- 5:51Speaker 3: but I know people who've coached with Sean who believes
- 5:57Speaker 3: that he's he honestly truly believes in all the things
- 6:02Speaker 3: he's done over the house with great success too. I
- 6:06Speaker 3: mean that there is that, but I think at this
- 6:09Speaker 3: moment in the league, the Broncos aren't doing a lot
- 6:12Speaker 3: of the things on offense that they're really good productive
- 6:15Speaker 3: offenses are doing. But that said, there are four quarterbacks
- 6:22Speaker 3: in the league right now without a touchdown pass and
- 6:24Speaker 3: three of them are rookies, and the fourth one has
- 6:26Speaker 3: benched in Bryce Young. So this is not a problem
- 6:30Speaker 3: unique to the Broncos or bow Knicks. This is what
- 6:33Speaker 3: you get when you start a rookie quarterback.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Looking well, is there a leash anywhere on bow Knicks
- 6:40Speaker 1: in the season.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, Scotty. I think it's hard to
- 6:45Speaker 3: say that you would do that. I think that really
- 6:48Speaker 3: adversely affects the guy's confidence when you're trying to do
- 6:52Speaker 3: the opposite, which is build up that confidence. So you know,
- 6:59Speaker 3: I think it's a matter of if you're just worried
- 7:02Speaker 3: he's the player is going to regress, so you know
- 7:06Speaker 3: badly if you keep playing him. But you know, that's
- 7:09Speaker 3: the kind of stuff they're going to have to weigh
- 7:10Speaker 3: if they continue to get injuries at the rate they're
- 7:14Speaker 3: getting them and struggle at the rate they're struggling.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Jeff Legwalder our guests who's been deeply involved with the
- 7:20Speaker 4: Hall of Fame for a long long time. So the
- 7:24Speaker 4: initial list is out here today, one hundred and fifty
- 7:27Speaker 4: something guys, Jeff Damarius, Thomas, Rod Smith, Brandon Marshall, Receiver,
- 7:32Speaker 4: Wes Welcome, Clinton port Is, Tom Naylan, Mark Shlaret, Neil Smith,
- 7:35Speaker 4: Bill Romanowski. You keep to leave Jason Eland dre Blig
- 7:39Speaker 4: out of all those guys, in your opinion, who has
- 7:41Speaker 4: the best shot to actually make the Hall of Fame
- 7:44Speaker 4: in that group?
- 7:45Speaker 3: You know, that's that's tough to wrestle these days. I mean,
- 7:50Speaker 3: receiver right now is the toughest posssion to get a
- 7:53Speaker 3: crack through, because I think there are twenty six for
- 7:56Speaker 3: intelligible receivers who have ten thousand yards receiving and Damarius
- 8:01Speaker 3: and you know, Rod's numbers don't come up to some
- 8:08Speaker 3: of these guys who are waiting, but I believe their
- 8:10Speaker 3: play is at the level of where I put guys
- 8:15Speaker 3: in this search, which is I'd certainly love to argue
- 8:19Speaker 3: with them and that they deserve their day in the room.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I think players like Ron Damarius certainly deserve their day
- 8:27Speaker 3: in the room. And I think Rod is a better
- 8:31Speaker 3: all around productive football player than some of the receivers
- 8:36Speaker 3: we put in in recent years. So I've always been
- 8:40Speaker 3: a big proponent of them. And you know, Tom Nalen
- 8:44Speaker 3: certainly on the scale of center play through the years,
- 8:48Speaker 3: deserves to be considered, but that that is actually one
- 8:51Speaker 3: of the most difficult positions to get any can.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Okay, all right, appreciate it, Jeff, We'll talk to you
- 8:57Speaker 4: next week.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Thank you, Leggy, Thanks Fellas.
