- 0:06Speaker 1: Let's dive into some stable coins today and really break
- 0:08Speaker 1: down how this is going to affect other crypto areas
- 0:11Speaker 1: that you guys want to pay attention to. My name
- 0:13Speaker 1: is Paul Barrel. Welcome back in the tech path. Let's
- 0:15Speaker 1: get going. I do want to thank our sponsor, and
- 0:17Speaker 1: that is Uphold.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Uphold.
- 0:18Speaker 1: You can actually earn some yield over there on not
- 0:21Speaker 1: only stable coins, but also USD so earn up to
- 0:24Speaker 1: four and a half percent apy So check it out,
- 0:26Speaker 1: use our link down below and get into some of
- 0:29Speaker 1: their discount programs. Okay, so let's go on to a
- 0:32Speaker 1: couple of the topics here. One of the things I
- 0:34Speaker 1: want you guys to focus on is what's happening around
- 0:36Speaker 1: stable coins. As you guys know, we've got a huge
- 0:39Speaker 1: vote coming up this week. I'll talk about that in
- 0:41Speaker 1: a minute. But stable coins, in terms of a trend
- 0:44Speaker 1: to watch, this is starting to move into mainstream.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Now. This is still very early because a lot.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Of companies are just now starting to realize how this
- 0:53Speaker 1: is going to be used in modern day commerce. And
- 0:56Speaker 1: what we're going to show you I think will surprise you.
- 0:58Speaker 1: One other thing to watch out for is this right here,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and that is the US Senate, it's going to be
- 1:02Speaker 1: voting on the stable Coin Genius.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Act that's happening this week. Once it's passed, then it.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Just moves over pretty much to the House for a
- 1:10Speaker 1: rubber stamp and it's done. That will mean that we
- 1:12Speaker 1: have a stable coin legislation in the United States, which
- 1:17Speaker 1: will be an absolute unbelievable push into the market. I
- 1:21Speaker 1: think you're going to see a lot of companies start
- 1:23Speaker 1: to see this going forward. Now many people are starting
- 1:26Speaker 1: to try to leverage against stable coins and do it
- 1:29Speaker 1: in a way that might be a little risky. This
- 1:32Speaker 1: is one of the platforms out there that a lot
- 1:34Speaker 1: of people that are traditional in finance are looking for
- 1:38Speaker 1: ways to earn yield. And this is a good example
- 1:41Speaker 1: of some of these. Most of these I would not touch.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Many of these are ridiculous yield prices. You can kind
- 1:46Speaker 1: of see that one at almost fourteen percent. Anything over
- 1:49Speaker 1: five percent is probably a little bit aggressive and most
- 1:53Speaker 1: likely will end up at So just pay attention to that. Also,
- 1:57Speaker 1: look at some of the trusted locations where you guys
- 2:00Speaker 1: can earn yield.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So let's get into this right here.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Let's build a stable coin related portfolio and what that
- 2:07Speaker 1: might mean.
- 2:07Speaker 2: So one to watch.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Of course, right there is Ethereum still leading the way,
- 2:12Speaker 1: Tron right behind it. Not necessarily one I would get into,
- 2:14Speaker 1: and I'll explain that in a second. But also you've
- 2:17Speaker 1: got Salana in there, Arbitram in, a handful of others,
- 2:19Speaker 1: including Avalanche.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Point being is.
- 2:21Speaker 1: That there are a lot of good projects out there
- 2:24Speaker 1: that I think are going to get immediately impacted by
- 2:27Speaker 1: this bill going forward. Tether froze some tron assets only
- 2:31Speaker 1: worth twelve point three million over some AML risk. But
- 2:34Speaker 1: the point is is that we have seen a little
- 2:36Speaker 1: bit of I think unstableness around the Tron ecosystem. So
- 2:40Speaker 1: just something to keep in mind, all right, And if
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know Justin Son, then you probably understand he's not
- 2:45Speaker 1: necessarily been the perfect example of crypto. A lot of
- 2:49Speaker 1: I won't say sketchy details, but the point is is
- 2:52Speaker 1: that questionable moves overall in terms of crypto in general,
- 2:56Speaker 1: a lot of pr a lot of those kind of
- 2:59Speaker 1: bombasty moves that we've seen in crypto. So one thing
- 3:02Speaker 1: to look at when you think about stable coin is
- 3:04Speaker 1: Tether has been one of the world leaders out there
- 3:07Speaker 1: outside the United States. Obviously, Circle went public last week.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Still flying. But if you look at Tether's chart and
- 3:14Speaker 1: the growth that we've seen right here, notice that there
- 3:18Speaker 1: is a new entry and that is USD one.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Now that is World Liberty five.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And when you kind of hover over this, you'll notice
- 3:24Speaker 1: Binance was right there involved along, of course, within an
- 3:28Speaker 1: ether ecosystem, for one to kind of come out of
- 3:30Speaker 1: the blue, and I shouldn't say out of the blue,
- 3:32Speaker 1: but in the sense of being able to start to
- 3:34Speaker 1: make a little bit of an impact, that's a pretty
- 3:36Speaker 1: big deal. So just be aware of that when looking
- 3:39Speaker 1: at stable coin ecosystems. Now, one that is trusted more
- 3:42Speaker 1: so than any and we've talked about this before on
- 3:45Speaker 1: the show quite a bit, is PYUSD now that is
- 3:47Speaker 1: being held in of course by PayPal. PayPal continues to
- 3:52Speaker 1: move up and they're one of the most trusted payment brands. Well,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I would say the trusted payment brand when it comes
- 3:58Speaker 1: to retail is especially for people around the United States,
- 4:02Speaker 1: maybe globally. So you look at that and you compare
- 4:05Speaker 1: to PayPal's growth. Right here, this is their market cap
- 4:08Speaker 1: for PYUSD. So really kind of the entry that we
- 4:11Speaker 1: saw at the end of twenty twenty three when they
- 4:13Speaker 1: announced it, and then it's just been slowly moving up,
- 4:16Speaker 1: and that is without a stable cooin bill. If you
- 4:20Speaker 1: compare that to along with a lot of investors who
- 4:23Speaker 1: are going to say, well, what stable coin ecosystems could
- 4:25Speaker 1: I get behind? Well, look at this, this is called
- 4:29Speaker 1: blue Chip. This is like a scoring system PayPal. Right there,
- 4:32Speaker 1: PYUSD grade as USDC gets a B plus and they
- 4:37Speaker 1: are pretty much the number one stable coin when it
- 4:41Speaker 1: comes to crypto traders, at least in the United States.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And then you got Tather holding out a dgrade right there.
- 4:46Speaker 1: One thing I will say that is missing here in
- 4:48Speaker 1: an XRP community, if you're listening to this, we need
- 4:51Speaker 1: to get XRPL on here along with RILUSD. So I
- 4:56Speaker 1: think that's a big factor going forward of really one
- 5:00Speaker 1: seeing the stable coin ecosystems that are available, because you're
- 5:02Speaker 1: gonna have a lot of new people getting into this
- 5:04Speaker 1: for the very first time. Now you wonder, there's a
- 5:07Speaker 1: lot of people that are understand well, stable coins are
- 5:09Speaker 1: going to grow, So what crypto projects could we invest
- 5:12Speaker 1: in to correlate along with that. Well, at the end,
- 5:15Speaker 1: I'll give you guys a full breakdown of the projects
- 5:18Speaker 1: that you should be watching and why, and maybe even a.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Portfolio split up to take a look.
- 5:22Speaker 1: PayPal market share is the one that I'm looking at
- 5:24Speaker 1: because this is a big one. PayPal has thirty nine
- 5:26Speaker 1: percent market share in terms of payment gateway industry. That
- 5:30Speaker 1: is insane to have that much. Number two out there
- 5:34Speaker 1: is Stripe. They're the second at thirty eight percent. So
- 5:36Speaker 1: those two companies alone. With Stripe, though what you've got
- 5:40Speaker 1: is mostly been through acquisitions, they're moving into the market.
- 5:43Speaker 2: They see they kind of missed the boat.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Remember they were offering crypto payments a long time ago,
- 5:47Speaker 1: backed away from it. Now, of course they've repositioned the
- 5:50Speaker 1: whole component of where their strategy is going. Now here's
- 5:53Speaker 1: a clip with Jeremy a Layer and he's getting into
- 5:56Speaker 1: the point that I think is going to set the
- 5:59Speaker 1: market market on fire.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Listen to this. Take a look.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Just yesterday we saw Shopify announce that they're making USDC
- 6:08Speaker 3: payments a default option automatically for every merchant on their
- 6:14Speaker 3: platform in the US and then in Europe that's like
- 6:17Speaker 3: a million.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Merchants, so like a PayPal button and then will be
- 6:22Speaker 2: there by default.
- 6:24Speaker 3: And in fact, not only that, they're offering that they'll
- 6:27Speaker 3: be offering merchants half a percent cash back to the merchant,
- 6:31Speaker 3: so they're going to actually compensate the merchant, which is incredible.
- 6:35Speaker 1: All right, guys, I want you to break that down
- 6:37Speaker 1: for what he just said. Now, most merchant systems out there,
- 6:41Speaker 1: I shouldn't say most all merchant systems out there, when
- 6:44Speaker 1: it comes to online e commerce and retail, you're talking
- 6:47Speaker 1: about anywhere between one and a half percent all the
- 6:49Speaker 1: way up to three percent that it's charging to the
- 6:52Speaker 1: merchant to make a transaction. What they're talking about now
- 6:56Speaker 1: is spinning that completely on its head, and they're starting
- 7:00Speaker 1: with half a percent that they're paying the merchant just
- 7:03Speaker 1: to offer USDC. Imagine a merchant. That's a four almost
- 7:08Speaker 1: four percent move in terms of the profitability of where
- 7:10Speaker 1: a merchant is going.
- 7:11Speaker 2: And I think that it's going to get more competitive
- 7:14Speaker 2: because of the yields that are.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Being paid on these stable coins, which they are hovering
- 7:19Speaker 1: very similar to money markets right now, between three and
- 7:21Speaker 1: four to four and a half percent.
- 7:23Speaker 2: So this is going to be a big deal.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And when you look at other things that are happening
- 7:28Speaker 1: in the space right now, PayPal is bringing its stable
- 7:31Speaker 1: coin to py USD and of course remember Stellar is
- 7:34Speaker 1: the one that leads the way when it comes across border.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Now I know a lot of you will say, wait
- 7:38Speaker 1: a minute, that's XRPE. Well it's actually Stellar that has
- 7:41Speaker 1: it from a stable coin component, and that I think
- 7:44Speaker 1: is going to be a big deal going forward with
- 7:47Speaker 1: PayPal other things that are going into this is the
- 7:49Speaker 1: Stellar CEO talking about what's the most important thing when
- 7:54Speaker 1: it comes to a stable coin. You would think maybe
- 7:56Speaker 1: market app right, listen to this.
- 7:58Speaker 4: PayPal is kind of the person party to be able
- 8:01Speaker 4: to do that because they have access to these merchants
- 8:03Speaker 4: that are already part of their ecosystem and they're going
- 8:06Speaker 4: to use it and focus on velocity. So there's always
- 8:09Speaker 4: this focus on volume, and lots of asset holders want
- 8:12Speaker 4: volume to exist so that they can you know, earn
- 8:14Speaker 4: the interest on that. But when you think about velocity,
- 8:17Speaker 4: that actually gets to the usage point and it gets
- 8:20Speaker 4: to the piece of saying what is the value of
- 8:23Speaker 4: this asset and how is it being used in the world,
- 8:26Speaker 4: And that's what PayPal focuses on. And so you know,
- 8:28Speaker 4: think bill pay. If you think about like payroll, you
- 8:31Speaker 4: think about all these things for small to medium sized
- 8:34Speaker 4: businesses that they already have relationships with. That's the usage
- 8:37Speaker 4: of the asset, not just the asset itself, and PayPal's
- 8:40Speaker 4: always been part of that game.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Payroll, I think will be a major one, whether that's
- 8:44Speaker 1: ADP or companies like Gusto that will integrate this into
- 8:47Speaker 1: USDC and the use of other stable coins in general.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And I think as you start to look at stable
- 8:54Speaker 1: coins across the different ecosystem, one of course to watch
- 8:57Speaker 1: right here, and this one is related to PayPal is Flow.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So Flow right here. Remember Flow had.
- 9:01Speaker 1: A couple other stable coin use cases and they started
- 9:04Speaker 1: to essentially move into PYUSD that's PayPal, So that of
- 9:08Speaker 1: course will start to lead to things like this, and
- 9:11Speaker 1: that is where you'll be able to get the most
- 9:14Speaker 1: yields based on the trust score.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Of these stable coins.
- 9:17Speaker 1: So that's something I think that will grow. Here you
- 9:20Speaker 1: can kind of see Ether leading the way. Obviously Salon
- 9:23Speaker 1: it very similar actually in general to the stable cooin market,
- 9:25Speaker 1: but right there bear Chain and then even Flow right there,
- 9:29Speaker 1: and again this gets back to the idea of where
- 9:32Speaker 1: is the most trustworthy stable coin?
- 9:34Speaker 2: What would you trust?
- 9:35Speaker 1: You look at stable coins in general. Right now on flow,
- 9:38Speaker 1: most of this PYUSD and then USDC right behind it,
- 9:42Speaker 1: so again not using tether, So maybe PYUSD starting to
- 9:46Speaker 1: see some big.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Growth.
- 9:49Speaker 1: One last note on flow is with that kind of
- 9:53Speaker 1: integration with PYUSD, you see a little bit of growth
- 9:56Speaker 1: here in terms of overall transaction, well quite a bit
- 9:59Speaker 1: actually about three x of transactions.
- 10:01Speaker 2: But that's the point.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You're going to see a lot of chains that are
- 10:03Speaker 1: going to start to see massive transaction growth because of
- 10:08Speaker 1: the amount of velocity.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Back to the point of.
- 10:11Speaker 1: How much is it being used and if PYUSD, remember
- 10:14Speaker 1: forty percent of market share out there in terms of
- 10:17Speaker 1: global payments when it comes to online e commerce, bapound
- 10:20Speaker 1: might end up being in the right place.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I want to go to another.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Clip because this is the PayPal CEO saying this is
- 10:24Speaker 1: why we're doing this.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Take a look.
- 10:26Speaker 5: I fundamentally believe guest checkout is going to be a
- 10:29Speaker 5: winner take all market. In guest checkout, it doesn't make
- 10:33Speaker 5: any sense to have multiple different choices, and we have
- 10:36Speaker 5: the largest breadth of merchants that we can get access to.
- 10:38Speaker 5: It's why you've seen US sign up partners like Audience
- 10:41Speaker 5: and Chase that we announced earlier this week International, so
- 10:45Speaker 5: you know it.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I know it. We've talked about it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Retail guest checkout, online e commerce, even retail checkout, I
- 10:52Speaker 1: think is going to lead the way. The key here,
- 10:55Speaker 1: the difference with online checkout versus in person checkout in
- 11:00Speaker 1: I think it's going to be the mobile payer that
- 11:02Speaker 1: will win. That's why PayPal has never really dominated at space.
- 11:05Speaker 1: But when it comes to e commerce, that's where the
- 11:08Speaker 1: bulk of retail is done. You guys can see the
- 11:11Speaker 1: writing on the wall. So you're wondering what is the
- 11:14Speaker 1: best potential investment that can get around this? And I'll
- 11:17Speaker 1: tell you how to break down a portfolio that is
- 11:20Speaker 1: correlated to your stable coins. When you take a look
- 11:24Speaker 1: at RILUSD right here, you'll see zoom in a little
- 11:28Speaker 1: bit on that. Three times the volume. That's the number
- 11:32Speaker 1: right there. I'm hovering on almost ninety million right there,
- 11:35Speaker 1: three times the volume around What's happening on PYUSD right there?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Okay, In terms of.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Where we see the position of these two stable coins,
- 11:45Speaker 1: PYUSD one that you keep an eye on. But when
- 11:47Speaker 1: you look at Velocity now it changes things up a
- 11:50Speaker 1: little bit. This is a little bit different. This is
- 11:52Speaker 1: transfer volume. Look at the transfer volume right here on
- 11:56Speaker 1: PayPal three point three billion. Now, granted, that's small compared
- 12:00Speaker 1: to the other guys that are out there when you
- 12:01Speaker 1: look at Sky, Athena Tather and of course Circle. But
- 12:06Speaker 1: the point is the opportunity to grow because of the
- 12:10Speaker 1: market capture that PayPal might have is huge. You think
- 12:13Speaker 1: about Ripple, let's take a look. They're just getting started RLUSD.
- 12:18Speaker 1: What we're seeing with Ripple USDC, obviously with Circle.
- 12:22Speaker 2: And many more. Remember that we also have.
- 12:25Speaker 1: The European components that would be playing into the global ecosystem.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I don't think they will hold a candle to what's
- 12:32Speaker 1: happening in the United States. Other things to watch right here,
- 12:35Speaker 1: remember June sixteenth, this is happening just Taurus may finally
- 12:39Speaker 1: drop the long waited ruling on Ripple versus the SEC.
- 12:42Speaker 1: That in itself will probably give a lot more incumbents
- 12:45Speaker 1: into what's going on with RLUSD.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Take a look at this right here.
- 12:49Speaker 1: XRP gets a nice boom over it, and I think
- 12:52Speaker 1: this is anticipating something. This is anticipating what we've been
- 12:56Speaker 1: talking about before, and that is growth in the stable
- 12:59Speaker 1: coin market. I want to go to another clip real quick,
- 13:01Speaker 1: because this is what happened over at the APEX event.
- 13:05Speaker 1: And this is an interesting point because it gets into
- 13:08Speaker 1: how XRP and Ripple might make it into the retail space.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Take a look, well on.
- 13:15Speaker 4: A live demo demo, So like I'm a restaurant owner
- 13:18Speaker 4: or I'm a shrom boner.
- 13:20Speaker 2: You just ate at my restaurant. We had a pizza
- 13:22Speaker 2: and a coke or something. Okay, that'll be nine dollars.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Nine dollars. We go for assistant transaction for seconds.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Let me get it successful nine dollars and the.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Average visa transaction is sixty dollars, so you'd probably be
- 13:37Speaker 5: paying around one dollar thirty five of that as fees.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Yeah, now you're paying one cent less than one cent,
- 13:43Speaker 4: So that's a huge series.
- 13:45Speaker 2: All right.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So you know you saw url USD being used on that.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Tom's been on our show before, his big developer around
- 13:52Speaker 1: the ecosystem. When it comes to retail payments, this is
- 13:55Speaker 1: the thing that I think will make a huge difference
- 13:57Speaker 1: because I feel like that is still up for grabs,
- 14:00Speaker 1: retail payments from a mobile device. So the winner of
- 14:04Speaker 1: that is going to get big and get big fast.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Now other big winners out there. I tweeted on this
- 14:09Speaker 1: this weekend and it's really which stable coin we try
- 14:12Speaker 1: when it comes to a retail system. And this is
- 14:14Speaker 1: talking about Walmart and Amazon. Let me know in the
- 14:17Speaker 1: comments which one.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I mean?
- 14:18Speaker 1: If Walmart said, hey, you're going to get a little
- 14:20Speaker 1: additional discount or Amazon's hey, we're going to give you
- 14:22Speaker 1: an additional rewards, which one would you use? And would
- 14:26Speaker 1: you be okay with using their stable coins over others?
- 14:29Speaker 1: Most likely they'll ride on one of the ecosystems, so
- 14:32Speaker 1: watch those could be stellar, could be something like the Theoereum,
- 14:36Speaker 1: et cetera. Matt Hogan kind of hit it out of
- 14:38Speaker 1: the park with this one and he basically says.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Wait, I thought you said credit cards were good enough.
- 14:44Speaker 1: And now Bloomberg saying retailers seeing the using of use
- 14:48Speaker 1: case of stable coins mainly to push back against card fees.
- 14:51Speaker 1: This is the thing we've talked about for years on
- 14:54Speaker 1: this channel, and at some point people are going to
- 14:56Speaker 1: open up to this, and then it is going to
- 14:58Speaker 1: be a absolutely avalanche going forward around retail use case
- 15:03Speaker 1: because these retailers are sick and tired of paying these fees.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Let me show you this right here, this is GUSD.
- 15:10Speaker 1: So imagine a network that could happen around retailers. They
- 15:13Speaker 1: could happen in the restaurant industry, the commerce industry, the
- 15:15Speaker 1: hotel industry, whatever it might be. They could be coming
- 15:17Speaker 1: together here, utilize a stable coin like GUSD, and then
- 15:21Speaker 1: be able to get their own yield. Remember that's a
- 15:24Speaker 1: three to five percent yield that's coming back in on
- 15:26Speaker 1: these stable coins. Now, PayPal has yet to go in
- 15:29Speaker 1: that direction where they'll pay the retailer much like what
- 15:32Speaker 1: Circle was talking about. Circle was talking about paying the
- 15:34Speaker 1: retailer like a half a point.
- 15:36Speaker 2: I think this is going.
- 15:37Speaker 1: To get competitive, just like it does with money markets.
- 15:39Speaker 1: If you look at your money markets out there, everybody's
- 15:42Speaker 1: jumping around a different money markets because they're paying more yields,
- 15:46Speaker 1: because they know that that flow is the most important.
- 15:49Speaker 1: So be on the lookout. We're going to see a
- 15:51Speaker 1: lot of that coming.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Now.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Where would you go in terms of drafting a portfolio, Well,
- 15:56Speaker 1: you kind of look at it this way, obviously, eth
- 15:59Speaker 1: that's where all the big money is going to be moving.
- 16:01Speaker 1: That's fifty percent of your portfolio. Solana, you could come
- 16:03Speaker 1: in mainly targeted at retail around twenty five percent XRP
- 16:07Speaker 1: just because of banking, but look for them on the
- 16:10Speaker 1: outside chance to move into point of sale. If that
- 16:12Speaker 1: happens ten percent, then you get into layer two. This
