- 0:13Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the Hawk Girl Energy Podcast.
- 0:17I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is your weekly reminder that it's
- 0:20a new day, a new week, a new mindset, and another day
- 0:23for you to become the Hawk Girl Energy you want to attract. Hello you
- 0:26guys, welcome back to another episode. Welcome to part two of the Hawk
- 0:32Girl Summer Prep episode series. I hope you guys enjoyed the last episode.
- 0:39I really enjoyed recording it. It just got me so excited for summer and
- 0:45the nice weather has finally started to come out here in Ottawa and it's just
- 0:49getting me so much more motivated. And I feel like last week I had
- 0:52such a good week with staying consistent with my routine and just finally getting back
- 0:58into some healthy habits and all that. I really feel like the winter like
- 1:02drained my soul, if that makes sense. Like I just felt like winter
- 1:06wasn't the greatest for me. And I had a lot of travel, which
- 1:08was great, and I always loved traveling, but I always find it's super
- 1:11hard to get back into routine sometimes. And that's okay, And know that
- 1:17summer is around the corner and it's going to be a good summer. I
- 1:21can just feel it for you, guys. I can feel it for myself.
- 1:23I can feel it for you, and I'm just excited to get back
- 1:26into my Hot Girls summer era. So in this week's episode, we're going
- 1:33to be highlighting some things that we didn't touch on last week. So if
- 1:34you guys didn't listen to the first episode of the Hawk Girl Summer Prep series,
- 1:40make sure to listen to the episode. First. We really go into
- 1:44just some like summer activities and just things to really look forward to for this
- 1:49summertime. But in this episode, we're going to be focusing more on some
- 1:53workouts, some motivations, some body confidence, healthy recipes, how to stay
- 1:59balanced your summer season, and my summer plans personally. So let's get into
- 2:05summer workouts. I feel like every time it's nice out, I'm always feeling
- 2:09motivated to be outside more. I just always want to enjoy the fresh air.
- 2:13I always want to just get out of the house more. I feel
- 2:15good when I leave the house. I feel good when I have like the
- 2:17sun on my skin, and I just feel like a thrive of more energy
- 2:22when I'm in the sunshine and when I'm breathing fresh air. So one thing
- 2:25that I always love to do in the summertime is I always love to go
- 2:29outside for a run. Now, some of you guys may not be runners,
- 2:32and that's okay. If you're not a runner, I just recommend doing
- 2:35long walks. I still do long walks as well, but usually once or
- 2:38twice a week in the summertime, I usually go for a run. Last
- 2:43year, I was pretty consistent with it. I moved into my new house
- 2:46in June of last year, so it's almost been a year since I've lived
- 2:49in this neighborhood, which is crazy, but I really created like a little
- 2:53running path for myself. There's this pond right by my place and I always
- 2:57just like run by that trail and I just find it's like a very like
- 3:00therapeutic way just to enjoy the neighborhood, look at you know, nice homes,
- 3:06and still get a good sweat in and again mental health. I always
- 3:09just find like running just feels so good for the soul. But like I
- 3:13said, if you're not a runner, I recommend like putting on a podcast
- 3:15and going on a long walk. I feel like I can't listen to podcasts
- 3:19when I'm running. I don't know if that's weird. I feel like I
- 3:21need motivational music to like get me through the long run because I have a
- 3:27love hate relationship with running. I feel like as a kid, my mom
- 3:30always put me in like cost country races and like marathons, five k races
- 3:36all that, and I would do it just because like I knew I was
- 3:38good at it, but I didn't like enjoy it. But I found a
- 3:42love for running by just like you know, not having any competition at all,
- 3:46just like doing it for my own health and wellbeing and just doing it
- 3:51to get a good sweat out and just also enjoy the fresh air outside.
- 3:53So I'm excited to get back into that this summer and just you know,
- 3:59listen to music and just run around the neighborhood and enjoy like time to myself
- 4:03as well. I always just like like to escape, you know, and
- 4:08just kind of be by myself for you know, twenty to thirty minutes and
- 4:11go on a run. Just kind of same thing with walking. You just
- 4:14like want that time to yourself just to like have your own thoughts, go
- 4:17for a walk, get a good workout in all that. So definitely gonna
- 4:21be doing that. And another thing I'm going to be doing is trying to
- 4:25be outside as much as I can. As I said, like probably taking
- 4:28my yoga mat outside, maybe doing some workouts in my backyard. We are
- 4:31finally getting our fence up I think this week or next week, which is
- 4:35exciting only on like part of our backyard though, so we will need to
- 4:39do the other sides of the fencing, like between our neighbors ourselves. But
- 4:43I'm excited to finally have like a fenced in backyard just for like some privacy
- 4:46and also for Freddie to have a space to run around and all that.
- 4:50But yeah, I definitely want to be able to have a flat ground area
- 4:55in our backyard that way I can set it up and do a workout.
- 4:58If you guys have been following me for a while, you guys know that
- 5:00I always enjoy doing workouts in my parents' backyard. I would always take out
- 5:03my yoga mat and just set up my iPad or my laptop, put on
- 5:09a workout video for twenty minutes, and just do it outside. I felt
- 5:12like it was just such a great way to again get a good sweat in,
- 5:15but also get some fresh air and so I want to get back into
- 5:17that this summer and hope to have a space to do that in my backyard
- 5:20once we get our fence up, and then I'm still going to be doing
- 5:25my spinning classes. Even with running, I find spinning is just such a
- 5:29fun workout and I just love going there because I love the team environment,
- 5:34I love the music, I love how motivating it is. I just I
- 5:38don't know how to explain it. If you've done a spin class, you
- 5:41know the adrenaline and you know like how it feels to be in the class.
- 5:44It just feels so good. And even if like you like to do
- 5:48pilates or yoga class or anything like that, again you're in a team environment
- 5:51and it just feels really good to get into workout classes and all that.
- 5:56So I'm definitely going to be keeping up with that this summer while teaming my
- 6:00other workouts throughout the week. But when it comes to motivation, this kind
- 6:04of ties into the workouts is I feel like I always get asked like,
- 6:08how do you say motivated all the time and all that, And don't get
- 6:11me wrong, there's weeks where I'm not motivated at all, Like I don't
- 6:14want to get out of bed and I don't want to do a workout,
- 6:16And there's some weeks where I wake up and it's, you know easy,
- 6:19it's easy to just you know, go throughout my routine and stay consistent and
- 6:23all that. But I think the one thing for me personally that I always
- 6:27hold myself accountable too is creating a workout schedule each week. And I feel
- 6:31like if I'm consistent with that schedule, I feel good. I feel like
- 6:35if the schedules in front of me and I know I'm supposed to do a
- 6:39workout that day and I don't do it, I almost feel like bad.
- 6:42I'm almost like, why didn't I do that? I shouldn't. I should
- 6:44have took that twenty to thirty minutes out of my morning to do it.
- 6:47Because it sounds like it's a lot, but it really isn't. It's literally
- 6:51twenty to thirty minutes out of your day, out of the twelve hours that
- 6:55you're awake or however long it is throughout the day, and it's literally twenty
- 6:59to thirty minutes. It doesn't have to be an hour workout. It could
- 7:01be forty, it could be thirty, it could be twenty. Like just
- 7:04taking that time aside to work on yourself and focus on yourself is so important
- 7:09and so for me, I find if I have a schedule laid out,
- 7:13I'm motivated to stay consistent with it because I feel like I'm almost like upset
- 7:16with myself if I'm not. Now if there's you know, times where you
- 7:20wake up and you really aren't feeling well, or you know you're on your
- 7:24period or whatever, like I'm not telling you you have to push yourself to
- 7:28get that workout in. I think it's best to rearrange your schedule for that
- 7:30week. And so, Okay, I couldn't work out today because I wasn't
- 7:33feeling one hundred percent. Okay, I'm going to work out on Saturday instead.
- 7:36So just like working around your own schedule and finding something that works for
- 7:41you, I find allows me to stay consistent and allows me to, you
- 7:46know, push myself to do those workouts each day because I know when I
- 7:50do a workout, I feel good, and I know that doing that and
- 7:55moving my body in some way each day it's going to help my mental health.
- 7:58And yeah, it's just those like little things. I don't know.
- 8:01I feel like some people are like, how do you do a workout every
- 8:05day and all that, but it's like I said, it's really only like
- 8:07thirty to forty minutes of your day that you're taking a side to work on
- 8:11yourself. So that's personally what I do is I really like to create a
- 8:15schedule, and I find that keeps me motivated and helps me stay consistent and
- 8:20like, for example, today is actually not a workout day for me,
- 8:22but after recording this podcast, I'm probably going to put a podcast on and
- 8:26go on a long walk and just move my body in some way, knowing
- 8:31that, Okay, I didn't get a good sweat in this morning, but
- 8:33I'm going to go for a long walk, and it's some type of way
- 8:35of me moving my body and I'm treating myself in that way, if that
- 8:39makes sense. So I find that's what really helps me out. So off
- 8:43days, I usually do long walks. Days where I work out, I
- 8:48set aside thirty to forty minutes of my morning to get a good sweat in.
- 8:50And I've mentioned it multiple times, but if you guys can't get workouts
- 8:54done in the morning, find another time that works for you, whether it's
- 8:58on your lunch break or your evenings or whatever. You know, there's some
- 9:01people that I know that do workouts at five am in the morning. That's
- 9:05not for me, but if it's for you, that's great. Like just
- 9:07finding some time to set time for yourself, I think is so important.
- 9:11And another thing that I'm getting back into this summer, which I'm really excited
- 9:16about, is I'm getting back into my sports. I played ring at this
- 9:20past winter, but I was only a part time player. But this summer,
- 9:24I'm actually getting back into soccer. I have not played soccer, guys
- 9:28in I want to say five years, probably five years last summer, if
- 9:33you guys were listening to the pod. I did actually attempt to play a
- 9:37tournament and I injured myself the first or second game or something like that.
- 9:39So I can't really count that as getting back into soccer because it was literally
- 9:45one tournament and I injured myself and ended up playing goalies, so that doesn't
- 9:50count in my opinion. I've actually joined a league where we play every Thursday,
- 9:54and I'm actually doing it with two of my girlfriends. So what's nice
- 9:58is that knowing that I'm getting back into a sport that I played for so
- 10:01long, Like I played competitively for like I want to say at least like
- 10:07seven or eight years of my life. I started when I was like seven,
- 10:11and I stopped when I was like eighteen, I think, so I
- 10:13guess almost ten years then. So I played for a really long time,
- 10:16and then once I got into college, I dropped all my sports. I
- 10:20was so focused on school, my career and all that. So I really
- 10:24wanted to get back into sports because I think it's fun to be able to
- 10:28be in a social setting with your friends, but also getting a fun workout
- 10:31in and getting back into a sport that you love. So again, if
- 10:35you're someone that has a hard time staying motivated to just do like a normal
- 10:39gym workout or a normal at home workout, maybe get back into sports.
- 10:43Join your favorite team and maybe you love volleyball, maybe you love basketball.
- 10:48Like, do something that you love and know that you're moving your body in
- 10:52some way and you're getting a good sweating at the same time, and you
- 10:54also get to be in a social setting with your friends. So it's a
- 10:56win win in my opinion. So when we talk about working out and we're
- 11:01talking about finding motivation and all that, there's definitely some times where I feel
- 11:05like this is even for myself as well, like how do you have the
- 11:07confidence in your own body? Like how do you feel confident? And you
- 11:11know what, there's times where you know, body image does bother me,
- 11:16and there's times where you know, I feel super confident. I feel good,
- 11:20like I've been really consistent with my workout. It's like I feel like
- 11:22my body's looking really good this week. All that. So I think it's
- 11:24important to say positive affirmations to yourself. You guys know, I always always
- 11:30talk about talking to yourself in a mirror and saying positive things about yourself.
- 11:33I feel like that always feels good. I know that's kind of weird to
- 11:37think about, but try it out and trust me, it actually works really
- 11:41really well. But I think one thing is don't compare yourself to others online.
- 11:46Like that's the worst thing you can do. I feel like in the
- 11:48summertime, obviously everybody's posting like bikini photos and all that. Do not compare
- 11:52yourself to those people online. At the end of the day, you are
- 11:56beautiful the way you are, and and I feel like I'm you know,
- 12:01in a reret when it comes to like body competence or if my body image
- 12:05is bothering me or all that. I always try and write down positive body
- 12:07affirmations in my journal. That's just like something that usually helps me, you
- 12:13know, boost my competence back up or just makes me feel better. Also,
- 12:18just like wearing things that makes you feel good, So like putting on
- 12:22an outfit that you feel competent in, like is definitely going to boost up
- 12:26your confidence and it's just going to make you feel so much better about yourself.
- 12:28I think, at the end of the day, what really matters,
- 12:31as I said, is you creating a workout schedule for yourself where you know
- 12:37you're moving your body to feel good, not to look good in a bikini.
- 12:39Like I went from a different mindset where I feel like I went from
- 12:43you know, working out to wanting to have the best bikini bod to working
- 12:48out to make me feel good. And honestly, I feel like my confidence
- 12:52has gone up in that way because I personally like the way my body looks
- 12:54now and that's because my mindset changed, right, Like, I feel like
- 12:58my mindset was so focused on just having the perfect body, when at the
- 13:03end of the day, I'm just loving the way I am and I love
- 13:07the way that I move my body every single day, and I love the
- 13:09way I feel, and to me, that's like the most important thing.
- 13:13Okay, so let's get into some healthy recipes. I'm really excited about this.
- 13:18Also, Guys, if I'm like talking kind of different on the mic
- 13:22today, it's because Zach is doing night shifts, so he's currently sleeping.
- 13:26So if you think I'm talking a little quiet, I'm not trying to talk
- 13:31quiet. Usually I feel like I'm always loud and bubbly, but I'm kind
- 13:33of trying to balance my voice so it's not projecting too loud in the house.
- 13:37So if that's why I'm sounding a little different, that's why I'm gonna
- 13:41have to listen to this episode obviously before editing it. But yeah, it's
- 13:46just if my voice sounds weird, that's why. Anyways, let's get into
- 13:50healthy recipes. I'm very excited for this part of this episode because you guys
- 13:54know how much I love food. I always love finding recipes on Pincher and
- 14:00just always like trying different dinner recipes, breakfast recipes, lunch recipes all at
- 14:05and I think one thing I love about summertime is that there's like seasonal foods
- 14:09that come out. I'm a huge, like watermelon obsessed freak. Like I
- 14:13love watermelon so much. It is so so good. So whenever summer comes
- 14:18around, I'm always buying so much watermelon. I also love peaches. I
- 14:24find peaches in the summertime just hit different. They're just always so much better.
- 14:28And then for dinners like this, I could have every single night if
- 14:33I could corn on the cob. Corn on the cob just hits so much
- 14:37different compared to like regular corn like that you can get from you know,
- 14:41frozen corn from the grocery store. It's not the same. Like corn on
- 14:46the cob on the barbecue is the best thing ever. So I'm excited to
- 14:52get back into yeah, barbecue season and all that. But we're going to
- 14:54talk about some healthy recipes here, so you guys know, my breakfasts are
- 15:01always I feel like out there, I feel like I usually make oatmeal.
- 15:05I'm a big oatmeal person, but I feel like in the summertime, I'm
- 15:07always like open to trying different fruits and like different things like yogurt bowls.
- 15:13I always like like seeing those papaya bowls. I don't know if you guys
- 15:18have seen that on Pinch est. But basically you cut the papaya halfway down
- 15:22and it's like a decently sized like fruit, and you scoop up the seeds
- 15:26and the inside and you actually make that the bowl. And then typically what
- 15:28the other half what I'll do is I'll chop it all up and prep it
- 15:31and keep it in the fridge, and then I'll put that as a topping
- 15:35as a yogurt bowl. So I'll put yogurt, I'll put granola, I'll
- 15:37put papaya. If there's other fruit like raspberries, blueberries or anything that that
- 15:41I want to put out top, cheese, seeds, honey, whatever it
- 15:45is, and I put it in the fruit and it looks esthetic, it
- 15:48tastes good. So I really like to do that around the summertime. I
- 15:52love mangoes as well in the summertime. I love adding that to yogurt bowls
- 15:58as well, or just also having a big fruit bowl. One thing that
- 16:02I became obsessed with in Los Angeles when I was there recently was we went
- 16:07to one of the vendors I think it was that Revolve festival or was that
- 16:10a gifting suite when we were in LA and they had like bowls of fruit
- 16:15and on top of the fruit, they had some spice. I think it
- 16:17was I want to say Tasian spice. I think it's the same thing as
- 16:19cayenne or no casion. Cajian spice is the one that would be similar to
- 16:26the Tasian spice in the States. I totally could be saying it wrong.
- 16:30If you're from the States and I'm saying it wrong, I'm so sorry.
- 16:33But we don't have that available in Canada, so we have Casian spice.
- 16:37So I have yet to try the Cajun spice on my fruit here yet,
- 16:41but it was so good. It sounds so weird, but it was like
- 16:45mango, different types of melons like cantelope, watermelon, and I think pineapple
- 16:52as well. So it was a huge fruit salad essentially, and they put
- 16:56that spice on top. So I'm going to try it. I will keep
- 16:59you guys posted if it's that or not. I really hope it tastes the
- 17:00same because it was so good, and if it doesn't, then I'm gonna
- 17:06have to find a way to order it through Amazon or something because it was
- 17:10so so good. It was the weirdest combo I've ever seen, but trust
- 17:14me, guys, the spice with the sweet fruit. It was so so
- 17:18good. So yeah, I really like to make like fruit salad sometimes for
- 17:19breakfast. I also love to make smoothie bowls. I love smoothie bowls so
- 17:26much, just you know, making a smoothie, putting in a bowl,
- 17:29adding my toppings like almond, butter, banana, strawberries, all that I
- 17:34can't think of like one on the top of my head right now that I've
- 17:37made in the past. But I really like like blueberry smoothie bowls. Typically
- 17:41anything with blueberry in it, or like sie bowls, anything like that are
- 17:47usually really really yummy, and I just always love to do that, especially
- 17:51in the summertime. Okay, going on to lunch. One thing you guys
- 17:55are gonna say, killy, we already know you're obsessed with this pasta salad.
- 18:00I love a good pasta salad in the summer. It is my go
- 18:03to thing to prep. That is honestly my favorite thing to meal prep.
- 18:07That is the one thing that I will literally eat every single day for lunch
- 18:08just because I find it's always so good. Usually I'll do a protein pasta
- 18:15like a chickpea based or a lentil base. That way, I don't have
- 18:18to add any like protein to it. But sometimes the pasta, depending on
- 18:22the brand Jubui, it gets like hard overtime, so it doesn't really like
- 18:27maintain throughout the week very well. I feel like cooking it fresh is always
- 18:30better, So sometimes if I have the time, I'll cook it fresh and
- 18:36just eat it that day, or if I'm going to prep it, usually
- 18:40I will only make enough for like a few days that way doesn't start to
- 18:42go hard. Or I'll use regular pasta and I'll add like another kind of
- 18:47protein like chicken or something like that to the pasta salad. But my go
- 18:52to recipe would be my Greek one, which is usually cucumbers, red onions,
- 18:57cherry tomatoes, feta che ease, and then I usually just get a
- 19:02like Mediterranean Greek dressing. The one I personally get is from farm Boy,
- 19:06So if you're from Canada, the farm Boy brand has a Mediterranean dressing that
- 19:11I put on top of the past a salad and it's so good, you
- 19:14guys, like, I'm so obsessed with it. I will make another video
- 19:18on it on my Instagram or included into a YouTube video or something like that.
- 19:22Because talking about it right now. It's literally making me want to make
- 19:25it right now. I don't even think I have any of the ingredients to
- 19:27make it, but I'll try and go to the grocery store later this week
- 19:30and pick some stuff up. But it's probably my favorite lunch to have in
- 19:33the summertime. Other things that I like to do in the summer is just
- 19:38honestly make a big like salad. One thing that I like to include in
- 19:41my salads sometimes in the summer is like adding some fruit like strawberries. I
- 19:47also love to add like walnuts in my salad. Yeah, so I'm like
- 19:51a big salad girl when it comes to the summertime, like caesar salads,
- 19:56like trying to make it in like a healthier way. I don't know,
- 20:00like balsamic salads, like even just putting like balsamic glaze on top of like
- 20:04chicken, strawberries, walnuts, cucumbers. Like I'm trying to think of like
- 20:10things that I typically add to a salad. But I just like love a
- 20:12big salad during the summertime. It just always hits so much different in the
- 20:15summertime. And then another salad that I tried this is more of like a
- 20:19side to have for like dinner. It's not really like a lunch. But
- 20:23tell me, if you guys have tried this, the watermelon salad, it
- 20:26is so good, you guys. I think there's slices of watermelon, feta,
- 20:30cheese, and mint, and I think you can add other stuff to
- 20:33it too. I don't know the dressing that's on it, but google it.
- 20:37It is called the watermelon salad and it will come up, and guys,
- 20:40it was probably one of the best salads I've ever had. It sounds
- 20:44so weird, but trust me, it is really really good. So imagine
- 20:47having that like a like as a side with like your chicken and like maybe
- 20:51some potatoes or something like that. It's just like a good like side to
- 20:56have for dinner. So that's another thing that I'm really excited to get into
- 20:59this summer. Okay, let's talk about dinners because I love cooking dinner so
- 21:04much, and I love cooking dinner on the barbecue, like barbecue season.
- 21:10Everything tastes better on a barbecue, like no matter what you say, like
- 21:14barbecues are like essential in your home. I feel like, if you want
- 21:18a well cooked burger, if you want a well cooked chicken, steak all
- 21:21that. And another thing that I really liked during the summertime is kebabs.
- 21:26If you guys don't know what kebabs are, it's like it's like those skewers
- 21:29where it comes with like chicken, usually onions, peppers. Sometimes you can
- 21:33add like pineapple to it all that, and they're so so good. Another
- 21:37thing that I tried last summer that I was really obsessed with was putting pizza
- 21:42on the barbecue. Trust me, hits different. It's so good. Like
- 21:47I'm telling you, anything on the barbecue will make everything taste so much better.
- 21:52Burgers. I always love making a good burger on the barbecue. Yeah,
- 21:56corn on the cob. The list could go on. I can like
- 22:00a large ass list about barbecue foods. But that's definitely one thing that I'm
- 22:03looking forward to this summer. Okay, another thing I think about when it
- 22:06comes to summertime and foods and all that. Wouldn't really consider this healthy,
- 22:11but I can. I'll consider it healthy as like my healthy version of cocktails.
- 22:15Because I feel like a lot of you guys always ask me, like
- 22:18what do I order when I go to a restaurant or what do I make?
- 22:22Because like as much as I love like having a few drinks, I
- 22:25also am very picky with my cocktails. I find because I don't like anything
- 22:29too sweet. And it's not even because it's like I'm maintaining my sugars and
- 22:33all that. It's more so my hangovers and how I feel the next day
- 22:38is literally awful if I have too much sugar, Like it's it's literally that
- 22:41as the reason. It's not because of like I'm China, you know,
- 22:45maintain my sugar levels. It's literally just because I feel like shit the next
- 22:49day. And I'm sure you guys know when you drink like a cooler that
- 22:53you used to have in high school, like you could not drink that now,
- 22:56Like it's just not it's just not. It can't. I can't do
- 23:00it. So what I personally typically do is I love to have vodka with
- 23:04any kind of flavored it's like sparkling soda, like one that you guys would
- 23:08probably know would be like poppy, like poppy in a vodka. I feel
- 23:11like that's a really good mix or any kind of like flavored sparkling soda.
- 23:15The one here that we have in Canada is called Salpanagreno. I get the
- 23:18low sugar version of that. There's usually a lot of sugar in like the
- 23:22normal can like I personally like, for reference, I don't drink soda like
- 23:26at all, Like I don't think I've had a sip of soda and like
- 23:30I want to say, four years, like just a preference. I just
- 23:33don't like soda completely at all, So I try and think of low sugar
- 23:37options like that, where it's kind of taste like soda the sparkling water,
- 23:41but it has a bit of flavor to it, and personally it's like the
- 23:45perfect amount of sweetness for me. I also love Apparel sprits, Like that's
- 23:48probably my go to cocktail in the summer. If I'm making it myself,
- 23:52obviously I'll put a little bit less sweetener in it so it's not as sweet.
- 23:56But if I'm at a patio, I'm just going to order a regular
- 23:59Apprel sprits because I don't really put too much syrup in it. It's more
- 24:02so like the champagne and everything else that's in the drink. But yeah,
- 24:07if I'm making it myself, I just put a little bit less and I
- 24:10find it so so good. Another one that's my go to is skinny marks.
- 24:15Essentially, what that is is that they just don't add like the fancy
- 24:18syrup in the drink because usually, like think about like when you go to
- 24:21a coffee shop, like typically there's like syrups and all that. Usually,
- 24:23like when it comes to margaritas, they had like a simple syrup in it,
- 24:26so I just ask for a skinny one. They either don't put any
- 24:30in at all, or they only put like a small amount of it.
- 24:33One of the two. But those are typically like my go to drinks when
- 24:36I'm going out, or I really like mohitos as well, but I feel
- 24:40the kind of person that doesn't drink at all. You can totally make these
- 24:42drinks into mocktails. You don't have to obviously add alcohol to it. But
- 24:47if I was to mention some of the cocktails that I drink, like when
- 24:49I'm at a restaurant when I'm at home, those are typically the ones that
- 24:53I like to make. And then lastly, dessert. You guys know,
- 24:56I never skip out on dessert. My favorite dessert to have in the summertime
- 25:02is ice cream. Like that's I'm not even gonna say anything else because that
- 25:06is by far my favorite thing I love to have dinner and then usually like
- 25:10Zach and I or my sister and I will get in the car, will
- 25:12drive to her favorite ice cream shop, will pick up some ice cream and
- 25:15just devour, like, oh, I'm so excited for ice cream season.
- 25:21And sometimes what I typically do if I don't want to have too much sugar,
- 25:22I'll get like a kid's cup or a kid's cone, because I personally
- 25:26find it's enough. It's more so just to crave like my sweetness after dinner.
- 25:30If you guys know, if you're like a huge sweet tooth gal,
- 25:33you know that you just need that little bit of sweetness after dinner just to
- 25:36like end your night. And I'm good. So ice cream will definitely be
- 25:41like a top priority every weekend, and I'm gonna enjoy every second of it
- 25:45because that is literally the only time I have ice cream. I never have
- 25:48ice cream in the winter just because obviously it's cold. I mean sometimes people
- 25:52do that, but I don't usually eat ice cream less of the summertime.
- 25:55So I usually treat myself almost every weekend, I would say, to a
- 25:57nice thing of ice cream. Okay, so we're talking about healthy recipes,
- 26:02We're talking about lunch we're talking about dinners, we're talking about cocktails, we're
- 26:04talking about ice cream. Like sounds like a lot of food is being consumed
- 26:10in the summertime, which honestly it is. I feel like I'm always enjoying
- 26:12good meals in the summertime. But I feel like a lot of people always
- 26:15ask me about balance and how I maintain balance throughout the summertime, because obviously
- 26:21it's hard. I feel like you're going out a lot, Like you're going
- 26:22out to restaurants a lot, you're going out for a lot of like hangouts
- 26:26with your friends, a lot of barbecues all that, and I feel like,
- 26:29you know, some people can be really hurt on themselves when it comes
- 26:32to you know, being really busy in the summer and not you know,
- 26:34staying on track and not staying on your you know, consistent schedule and all
- 26:38that, and you're eating out way more than you usually do, and it's
- 26:42you feel like overwhelmed that like it's like, oh my god, like I
- 26:45shouldn't be eating all these food, Like it's going to ruin my progress all
- 26:48that, blah blah blah. Remember to not beat yourself up for that.
- 26:52Enjoy the fun times with your friends. Summer is so short, and know
- 26:56that you going for like a barbecue dinner at your friend's house where there's you
- 27:02know, a burger involved in all that. Like, you're not going to
- 27:03ruin your progress from the one meal. If you're eating like crap for probably
- 27:10three to four weeks in a row, Okay, yeah, sure, maybe
- 27:12you might lose a bit of progress, but having that one meal that one
- 27:15weekend is not going to ruin anything. So just know that, don't beat
- 27:18yourself up. Try to maintain balance throughout your summer. Personally, what I
- 27:22do to keep my balance maintained throughout the summer season is I always just try
- 27:27and balance out my home cooked meals first. My going out meals. I
- 27:30try to just make sure, Okay, I don't want to be going out
- 27:33every single night during the week, but hey, if I go out Saturday
- 27:36night with my friends and maybe Friday night, I just try and make sure
- 27:37that I eat majority of my meals home cooked throughout the week. That's just
- 27:41the reality. Like that's at least for me, how I try and balance
- 27:45out my eating schedule when it comes to that. So I try and just
- 27:48schedule more home cooked meals and less going out. Obviously, there's weekends where
- 27:52I'm you know, I'm going to a batcherette, and literally next weekend,
- 27:56actually I'm going to a batcherette and there's going to be a lot of drinking
- 27:59about, going to be a lot of you know, eating out and all
- 28:00that. But guys, it's one weekend and then coming back, I'm going
- 28:04to reset, get back into the swing of things, get back into home
- 28:07cooked meals all that. I don't do any kind of cleans or anything like
- 28:11that. I'm not into that. Like I don't do any types of juice
- 28:15cleans. Like I know some people do that and that's fine, that's a
- 28:17personal preference. But for me, I just go back to eating the normal
- 28:21foods that I enjoy, and I get back into a workout routine. And
- 28:26yeah, that's literally it. Like I really don't try and do anything that,
- 28:30you know, is anything intense, like I said, like a juice
- 28:32cleanse or anything like that. Usually, Like, as you guys know,
- 28:36I always try and stick to the eighty twenty rule. I try and eat
- 28:38eighty percent of whole foods and twenty percent of indulging. So I eat whatever
- 28:45I crave essentially, So that's how I kind of balance out my meals and
- 28:51my lifestyle. I feel like in the summertime, I just try to not
- 28:53eat myself up for it. I just know that as long as I in
- 28:57my head like don't overdue like going out or anything like that, I feel
- 29:03like I'm fine. So I don't know that's how I balance out things.
- 29:06I think that that's what works for me personally. And if you're that's kind
- 29:08of person where you feel like you have a hard time like balancing out your
- 29:14going out and at home cooked meals, just try and again kind of create
- 29:18a home cooked meal schedule, kind of like working out right, like creating
- 29:21a workout schedule. Creating an at home cooked meal schedule, Like I always
- 29:23love to write what we're going to be eating for dinner each week. I
- 29:27already know ahead of time, and again, it just allows me to stay
- 29:30consistent with eating at home versus going out. If I have everything, you
- 29:34know, prepped ahead of time, like going to the grocery store picking up
- 29:37all the ingredients, looking at okay, I'm cooking this for dinner tonight,
- 29:40it doesn't allow me to like, oh, I'm just going to order take
- 29:42out because I'm lazy and I don't want to do anything. Well, no,
- 29:45I have all the ingredients. There's no excuse for me to randomly order
- 29:48takeout one night and just indulge. So that's kind of how like I balance
- 29:52out my meals and all that when it comes to like summertime craziness, if
- 29:57that makes sense. Okay, So now we're going to talk about my personal
- 30:02summer plans because some of you guys actually asked me when I made the Hawkirl
- 30:06Summer Prep question box on our podcast, a lot of you guys actually asked
- 30:10me what I was personally doing for my summer plans, And honestly, like,
- 30:15I feel like there's some stuff going on right now, but I feel
- 30:17like sometimes I am a bit of a last minute planner when it comes to
- 30:21some things. But first off, the biggest thing that will be happening this
- 30:25summer for me personally and for Zach is our engagement party. That is our
- 30:30biggest priority right now. If you guys have been following along, you guys
- 30:33know that I've been touring a bunch of venues this past week and I'm happy
- 30:37to say that we finally selected our favorite one. We have been sending emails
- 30:44securing dates and all that. We haven't officially put a deposit down yet,
- 30:47but we have selected the date. We have a few more questions just to
- 30:51go over with her, just like the chef's menu all that. So I'm
- 30:56so excited to start, I don't know, just to start like filming everything
- 31:02and just get you get guys excited for like the wedding series, because obviously
- 31:04there's a lot of stuff that comes up before the wedding. So I'm just
- 31:08so so excited to just like, yeah, film the whole process and be
- 31:11able to look back at it. And that's one of the reasons why I
- 31:15love my job so much, is that I'm able to, you know,
- 31:18film experiences like this and be able to look back at it and like know
- 31:22that I have that memory for life that I film those experiences and all that.
- 31:26So I'm so grateful to be able to do that and also call that
- 31:30my job. I'm definitely going to be more active on YouTube this month,
- 31:34I think, and let me know what you guys think about that, because
- 31:38I don't know why, but i feel like I've been loving YouTube more lately
- 31:42than my TikTok and Instagram. Maybe not TikTok, but definitely more than Instagram
- 31:48lately, Like I just feel like I feel so much more like confident and
- 31:52more enjoyable when I film YouTube videos, and I feel like I enjoy like
- 31:56just vlogging my day to day life, and I feel like you guys enjoy
- 32:00it too, So let me know if you guys like that. I'm definitely
- 32:04like I've already started to film wedding series stuff like train engagement venues and all
- 32:08that on YouTube that will be going up later this week, so stay tuned
- 32:12for that. But let me know if you guys like YouTube videos, because
- 32:15I personally love it, and if you're listening to you my podcast, I
- 32:19hope you guys like to watch my YouTube videos as well, because I feel
- 32:22like I try and provide very similar content when it comes to like healthy routine,
- 32:27healthy lifestyle, but also show a bit of like behind the scenes of
- 32:30like my daily life. So yeah, So the biggest things this summer for
- 32:34sure is our engagement party, so stay tuned for that. I'm going to
- 32:37be sharing more information on the venue we selected and all that. Another thing
- 32:42we're doing is I'm pretty sure Zach and I are actually going to our wedding
- 32:45destination in June we haven't booked the trip yet because we're trying to secure our
- 32:51engagement venue, and then once it's secured, I'm going to be emailing the
- 32:54places that the venues that we're looking at. I don't want to see the
- 33:00nation because I feel like I should be kind of a surprise, So I'm
- 33:01not going to share it now. You guys will obviously know when I'm there,
- 33:06like why I'm there for that reason. So if you guys see me
- 33:07go on vacation in the summer, you know why I'm there. But yeah,
- 33:12I'm gonna keep that a little secret just because I'm so excited too.
- 33:16Yeah, get to the destination. I've never been there before, so I'm
- 33:20really excited. But yeah, So a lot of wedding planning this summer,
- 33:23I think, just like finding a venue and all that, because we plan
- 33:27to have our wedding late twenty twenty four or early twenty twenty five, so
- 33:32I definitely have some time. But it's better to book a venue sooner rather
- 33:38than later. So that's what we're doing for probably June slash July. And
- 33:44then it's my best friend's wedding. I'm her maid of honor in that so
- 33:46I'm standing beside her, and I'm so excited to watch, like my best
- 33:50friend of like I want to say six or seven, So yeah, almost
- 33:55twenty years actually twenty years of friendship, which is so crazy. So it
- 33:59is going to be an emotional day to see her walk down and marry her
- 34:02best friend. That's yeah, it's so crazy that that's happening this summer.
- 34:06So I'm so excited for that. And then just other things. I just
- 34:08always enjoy the little things in the summer, like going to watch a sunset
- 34:13with my sister, Like we typically try and do that, like once a
- 34:15week. We'll just go to a park or we'll go to a beach and
- 34:17we'll just like literally sit and watch a sunset. Sometimes we'll get ice cream,
- 34:21sometimes we'll have a drink, whatever, do picnics and all that.
- 34:24Going to cottages, like I always love going to Zach's family's cottage in the
- 34:28summer. It's always such a fun time. Or you know, now my
- 34:30best friend has a cottage, so I'm looking forward to like cottage weekends with
- 34:34my friends and all that. You know, Canada day weekend, long weekends,
- 34:38all that. Just know that, you know, summers for only such
- 34:43a short time and it always goes by so fast. So I'm just trying
- 34:45to like take in like those little moments that I enjoy because every time,
- 34:51like in the winter, I'm always like thinking about those like little things that
- 34:53I do with like my sister or Zach, just like going on those walks
- 34:57at sunset or doing those picnics or anything like that. Like those are the
- 35:00moments that I honestly enjoy the most. And it's just those little things that
- 35:04just get me excited about summer. So those are just some of the workout,
- 35:08some motivation, somebody confidence, some healthy recipes, talking about balance and
- 35:13summer plans that I have for this summer. I hope you guys enjoyed this
- 35:17part two series of the Hawk Girl Summer Prep. I definitely want to do
- 35:22more of these series type of episodes because I feel like you guys enjoy it.
