- 2:07just terrible. Yeah, terrible pronunciation. You can't even say pronunciation. Now
- 2:14I'm having trouble tonight and I haven't even drank anything. We have Leanne R.
- 2:19Tracy S, David W. And Laurie all right, well we uh
- 2:23still read a couple more than I expected, but that's okay. We got

- 2:32I wish, Oh my god, that would be you guys, be fantastic,
- 2:37but um yeah, so thank you so much for supporting the podcast.
- 2:40And I guess that's everything. Our bathroom's finally done. This marriage might make
- 2:47it after all. Yeah, Um, if you are getting anything remodeled in
- 2:53the Lafayette area, I won't put the company on blast on this podcast.
- 2:57However, if you would like to message me if you're ever getting anything done,
- 3:01and I can tell you who not to use, you can do that.
- 3:06Yeah, because I hate them, Like I couldn't get them out of
- 3:10this house. I couldn't get them out out. They were here for it
- 3:13was supposed to be a two week job. They were here for almost six
- 3:15weeks. They I can't even go into everything that went wrong and how terrible
- 3:21and it's anyways, but we're DIY people. We this is just like a
- 3:27big thing for us to do. We like saved up and we bought this
- 3:30older house a couple of years ago when we were saving up, and like,
- 3:34Okay, this is too big of a job for us. We cannot
- 3:36do this, this this bathroom on our own. So we're going to have
- 3:38to bite the bullet and then hire somebody. This is second time in our
- 3:43life we've ever hired someone to do something, and this is the second time
- 3:46it was a disaster. So never again. Well that's one actually came out.
- 3:53It came out, Okay, it came out fine, but the process
- 3:57was mad to redo it two and three, Yes, and then I had
- 3:59a quite the interchange with the fella at the end. He thinks I'm a
- 4:04bitch, but that's okay because I think he's a dumbass. So all right,
- 4:09anyways, moving on, But I'll post some pictures of when we get
- 4:11it all cleaned and decorated and everything like that. But anyways, all right,
- 4:14so let's get into the episode. Out of Florida. Stu Celia Hooda
- 4:19was born May twenty seventh, nineteen eighty nine. Her family was originally from
- 4:25Ghana and they moved here in the nineteen nineties. Now Selee's parents, they
- 4:30wanted more opportunity for Selia and her siblings. That's the reason that they came
- 4:33over to America. And they, you know, wanted him to pursue like
- 4:36college and do all these these big things and whatever careers they wanted to do,
- 4:41whatever passions and stuff. So Slee was described as energetic, fund and
- 4:45a social butterfly. She excelled in dance and cheerleading, and she loved to
- 4:49move. Anytime she heard music that there was a beat plane, she was
- 4:53she was going st she was having it, you know, shaking it out,
- 4:57just shaking it. And she was good at it too. So Selia
- 5:00she would attend the PK. Young Developmental Research School, which is a K
- 5:04through twelveth school affiliated with the University of Florida. Now, after graduation,
- 5:09she attended Santa Fe College, graduating and then moving on to the University of
- 5:13Florida in Gainesville to pursue her bachelor's degree. Now, Gainesville stud that's the
- 5:18home of the University of Florida and also not the home of but actually the
- 5:26home of the person I'm going to talk about, the Gainesville Ripper because actually
- 5:30Louisa, he's from Louisiana, but he went over, Danny Rolling, he
- 5:34went over. He actually killed some people in Louisiana and then he went over
- 5:38to Gainesville and killed I think five college students over a couple of days.
- 5:44Yeah, you know about that one. I don't know about that one.
- 5:47Okay, Wow, Okay, we're going to need to talk after this.
- 5:51So anyway, so she decided to move out of the family home whenever she
- 5:55started at the University of Florida, and her parents were just not happy about
- 5:59this at all. Her parents apparently ran a very tight ship you know at
- 6:03the home and stuff like that. But Sealia, she wanted some freedom and
- 6:06she also just wanted to be closer to campus. You know, it was
- 6:10just their how their family was that they everyone just stayed home and the parents
- 6:15were to the you know, centerpiece of the Yes and laid down the law
- 6:18cultural from Ghana. Yeah maybe, and laid down the law about like this
- 6:23is what we're going to be doing and this is who can be stepping out
- 6:26on. Okay. So while attending college studying, she was studying Family,
- 6:30Youth and Community sciences. Sealia became a cheerleader for the Florida Gators and was
- 6:35on a dance team called Urban Essence. Now she was thriving, making friends,
- 6:41and she was finding her independence living out on her own. On December
- 6:45twenty nine, twenty ten, Salia was supposed to meet with her friend Indeed
- 6:49to go dancing that night. Now, Salia calls Indy and tells her she
- 6:53will be stopping by later and we're going to go do this. Indy says
- 6:57that she never saw Saliah that night and that she exter the next day,
- 7:00but she never heard back from her. This totally sounds like me, like,
- 7:03yeah, we're gonna go do this, and then I sleep fall asleep
- 7:08at like nine pm, watching Real Housewives on the couch with a glass of
- 7:12wine, being like, I always make big plans in the night. I
- 7:16know I know better than myself. I know myself better now. I never
- 7:19make plans past like like seven pm. I'm just not gonna do them.
- 7:24I'm going to cancel. No, you're not leaving the house. No,
- 7:26I'm not like me and my friends now, which we all have children now,
- 7:30but like we schedule if we're gonna go to dinner or something, we're
- 7:33scheduling. It's like we're like, let's meet at five thirty. Yes,
- 7:39we need to be home. Yeah, I'm an old lady. I've been
- 7:41an old lady since me and Stu started dating pretty much. Stu was wanting
- 7:46to go and stuff, and I'm like, nah, can we just stay
- 7:49home? This is true? This is true. Funny daddy, I'm not
- 7:56a funny daddy. I probably kept you out of trouble spending a bunch of
- 8:00money. Maybe that. Yeah. Anyway, Andy was not too concerned that
- 8:05Sealia hadn't texted her back, because Selia had gone without responding before and it
- 8:09was something that was not too unusual that going. I mean, I'm gonna
- 8:16make plans and then be like, oh, she kind of flaked it.
- 8:18She's Maye, She's a little flaky on plans, flaked off. And then
- 8:22she wouldn't respond to text messages. I mean, I've done that before.
- 8:26You look at a text maschine, you're like, oh, yeah, I
- 8:26gotta respond to that. I know you You open it and then you forget
- 8:30and then like then you look back three days later like, oh my god,
- 8:33I never respond to that person. Now he sit coming on your watch
- 8:35or something here. Oh yeah, I'll get back. I'll get to them
- 8:37as soon as I'm done with this. No. Yeah, so Andy wasn't
- 8:41too concerned because Sealia was known for this. Now two days go buying nothing
- 8:48from Salia. Indy though, still doesn't think anything of it until Sealia's mom
- 8:54called, asking if that Indy had heard from her. Andy tells her no,
- 8:58but Indy was still not alarmed. For Summariz, Yeah, well,
- 9:01because INDI's the friend. The family starting is concerned. Indie's a friend,
- 9:05she's one of our best friends. But we don't know that. They didn't
- 9:09like talk every day, so it wasn't like crazy to not if my friends
- 9:13if I didn't respond to my friends, like we don't talk every single day,
- 9:16if I didn't respond to a text, they wouldn't think anything of it.
- 9:18They just like move and be like, oh, Kara's busier. No,
- 9:20one't like I murdered you. No, Oh god, I need to
- 9:24talk to them. Wow. What kind of friends do you have that don't
- 9:28suspect you of murder? I think the best of you. Yes, I
- 9:33don't know. I need to talk more poorly about you in front of them,
- 9:35I guess. Yes, I speak too highly of you, Michael at
- 9:39all. I actually don't even know I'm married. Apologies for the stupid laugh.
- 9:48I'm sure we'll get a right in about that one anyway. So Shan
- 9:54this is Celia's sister. She tries calling and textingsle it with no answer.
- 10:00She checks her Facebook and it showed that she had not been active for a
- 10:03couple of days now. In January second, twenty eleven, Slei's family reaches
- 10:07out to law enforcement to report her as missing. They walked through the last
- 10:11time that they saw her, which was around four pm on December twenty ninth.
- 10:15They were immediately concerned due to the fact that Selia normally keeps in contact
- 10:18with their parents and especially her sister. So I said, Indie, maybe
- 10:22not her best friend, but her family. She got that close knit family,
- 10:26like, that's just how they operate. They go to our apartment to
- 10:31do a welfare check, and when there's no answer, they enter the apartment.
- 10:33They had reason enough to go ahead and go in with her being Mia
- 10:39for a couple of days. Now the apartment is in normal order, but
- 10:43there is no sign of Celia. They enter the bathroom where they find Selia's
- 10:46dog, Vegas, curled up in a ball and the dog is just terrified.
- 10:50Her family and friends they know immediately something is wrong with Seleiah because she
- 10:54absolutely loved that dog, and there is no way that she would abandon that
- 10:58dog, just lock him in a bathroom and him be afraid like that.
- 11:03That just wouldn't That would never happen. So they have no apparent clues in
- 11:07the apartment, but they do note that her car is missing. Now with
- 11:09everything adding up, they know that yes, her car is missing, but
- 11:13with the dog like this, her not speaking, they know she has not
- 11:16gone missing on her own accord. This isn't her just taking off for whatever,
- 11:20she's someone's done something to her. She's been detained somewhere, somehow,
- 11:26some way, stuarts by someone by someone. Meanwhile, there's a different investigation
- 11:33going on with different investigators, says Gainesville. It's in the college town,
- 11:39so there's probably that's pretty decent sized town. I would think, yeah,
- 11:43this isn't well yeah, I would think so too, Stewart. I don't
- 11:46know what the population. Some some college towns are smaller than others. I
- 11:50know I grew up in. Some of them just empty out as soon as
- 11:52though, well that's where the college town. Well, I think Gainesville has
- 11:56other things going on. It's a big town in Florida. But where I
- 12:00went to college, Uh, one of the times was Stephen F. Austin
- 12:05and Nakodosius and that talent has thirty five thousand people. But it's like literally
- 12:11it's either a college student or like super like elderly people that have been there
- 12:16for you know, decades, like there's no one between. So in Luffkin,
- 12:20where I where I grew up, was the town where everybody, all
- 12:24the stuff was. So even though the town was the same size, it
- 12:26was like a it had like the mall within I had all the restaurants and
- 12:31all the you know, um, what are the what are the young adults?
- 12:35No, the career people like where all the career people would would no
- 12:43anyways, But in Nacodosius, though, all it had was like the college
- 12:46stuff and then a suit like summer. It was dead over there. There
- 12:48was the mall. W had like no stores in or anything because there was
- 12:52nothing but college kids. So yeah, and it was a small town.
- 12:56They would definitely know if there was two investigations going on, because it would
- 13:00be the same investigation probably. Yeah. My point is Gainesville's big enough to
- 13:05have multiple investigation not knowing what's happening with each other's No one's up with each
- 13:11other. Yeah, I think stay whatever. I don't even care whatever.
- 13:16Someone call me stupid, It's fine, stupid Stuart. Now, on December
- 13:20thirtieth, Police and Fire Department responds to a call about a brush fire on
- 13:24Racetrack Road, which not Racetrack Road. Yeah. Now, this is a
- 13:30desolate area with no homes, no buildings, nothing pretty much nearby. It
- 13:35is racetrack Road, so I'm assuming they use it as a racetrack talent.
- 13:39Go out there on the dirt road and yeah, get to going now.
- 13:43They believe they're just putting out a simple fire, but as the flames received,
- 13:46they see the shape of a body. Fire department calls and investigators and
- 13:50they can tell that a person was doused with gasoline as you can just smell
- 13:54it in the air coming from the body. Yuh. Now, most of
- 14:01the body was unrecognizable except a small part of the face, and they could
- 14:03tell the victim was a black female, but that was about it. When
- 14:09observing the scene, they knew whoever disposed of the body would have had to
- 14:13part for quite some time since the body was found about twenty feet off the
- 14:16roadway, so that would have to drag the body out of the car get
- 14:22them over. This isn't a quick like pull up to the side of the
- 14:24road, push them out the back of the truck or whatever. And this
- 14:28was a physical act of hauling the body lighting it on fire twenty feet off
- 14:33the side of the road. I mean, so they someone could have possibly
- 14:35seen that car, is what they're hoping. Yeah, So they start collecting
- 14:39anything they can find from the crime scene and hopes that something will lead them
- 14:43to the identity of their victim. This included anything that was there like a
- 14:46tissue in the grass, a paper towel on the side of the road,
- 14:50and a partially burned flyer, which this is like this sucks for them too,
- 14:54because you can imagine when and everything, like who knows where you drop
- 14:58something on the ground, it's like gone in two seconds so, or something
- 15:01blowing from a mile they're into this crime scene and now you've got to collect
- 15:05it or some litter bug just throwing. Aren't those the worst people? Litter
- 15:11people who you see that litter out of their cars? I hate them,
- 15:13Stewart, Is that where we're going with us? Yes, I hate them,
- 15:18and you talk my season one and then it's like, what do you
- 15:20even do? You can like call that number and then they might find them
- 15:22a couple hundred dollars, but probably not anyways. I just they're just the
- 15:28worst humans? Are they the worst humans? I thought we established last episode
- 15:33that Sarah Cabanall was the worst human? Oh the y'all need jesus. Yeah,
- 15:39uh, they're they're right around there with her. And then we'll move
- 15:41our way up to like serial killers and well I mean as far as nine
- 15:46violent criminals. Yeah, police get a break when the body is sent to
- 15:50the metal. Met Man I can't even talk ton medical examiner, and he
- 15:56was able to pull a fingerprint from one of two fingers. He was able
- 16:00to determine that the victim was dead prior to being burned. And they run
- 16:03the princes and they find out that the victim is Salia Hooda, the twenty
- 16:07one year old college student. Now the pieces of these two investigations are finally
- 16:12fitting together. They now know what has become of Salia, so they contact
- 16:18her family and they are just completely devastated. I mean, this is shocking.
- 16:22I mean, in a million years, you would never think she's been
- 16:27disposed of on the side of the road and lit on fire like that is
- 16:30probably, I mean not even in the realm of possibilities you could think that
- 16:34would be what would happen to this twenty one year old She's a cheerleader,
- 16:37for God's sakes at the University of Florida, Like this is not going to
- 16:41set her ass on fire. Yeah, the cheerleaders get pretty vicious. They
- 16:44are. We've seen I've seen some Lifetime shows about cheerleaders in their angry mothers
- 16:49like bring it on? Are you really going to bring up? Bring it
- 16:53on? Sto, I've never seen it. I just know some dueling cheerleaders.
- 16:59They were dueling cheerleaders get cut in the moment. No nobody got cut,
- 17:03but they certainly did bring in ste Yes. I used to know all
- 17:08the cheers to that thing too. If if I heard like the start of
- 17:12one, I could do it right now, like I knew. I watched
- 17:15this that with Kirsten does. I watched that um that movie so many times
- 17:21it's unreal. So anyways, okay, anyways, they'll bring me off track,
- 17:26Stewart, so please. They questioned the family about Salia's life. Who
- 17:33her friends were, did she have a boyfriend, did she have enemies or
- 17:36anyone that might want to hurt her like a dueling cheer squad from the other
- 17:41side of town. So the first person that comes to mind is Antonio Drayton.
- 17:47Now, Antonio was Salia's boyfriend. They had like an up and down
- 17:51type of relationship, and the family also suspected that Antonio was abusive to Celia.
- 17:56Their suspicion started when Selia came home with injuries that just didn't make sense
- 18:02for this agile dancer. Like we said, she danced, she cheered,
- 18:04she was quick, on her feet like she wasn't clumsy like me or our
- 18:11child. Anyways, one time she had a dislocated shoulder and she said she
- 18:17fell during dance. Now, and her sister just didn't seem like when she
- 18:21told her that, she was like, I don't that doesn't make sense to
- 18:22me, but okay. Now, in June of twenty ten, soon after
- 18:26the injuries were becoming visible, Sealiah's boyfriend attacked her and started choking her.
- 18:30So all this is she has the disclo located shoulder. She's making an excuse
- 18:34for that. Then he starts hurting her where they can see the physical bruises,
- 18:38and then this big event happens where he actually physically attacks her, chokes
- 18:45or she's able to get away from him, and she calls nine on one.
- 18:48Now he is arrested and charged with domestic battery, burglary, and larceny.
- 18:52I don't know what else he did in those things. It wasn't clear,
- 18:55but he did a bunch of other shit, I guess now. However,
- 18:57nothing would be done as Salie had chose not to pursue the charges,
- 19:02and without her testimony, they didn't really have anything to go on because she's
- 19:06only witness, She's the only person didn't happen to her. I mean,
- 19:07they got to have her, you know, come forward and testify against him.
- 19:14So those charges were dropped, and after the incidents, Leah became even
- 19:17more secluded from her family. I'm sure she was probably ashamed, you know,
- 19:22she still didn't press charges against this guy. He's hurting her, and
- 19:26she just like let it go. I'm sure she felt just bringing shame on
- 19:30the family. Yeah, I'm sure she felt like herself and she didn't think
- 19:33her family will prove so. Yeah, so she's probably just like, I'm
- 19:36just going to stay away from him and and continue on with this Antonio guy.
- 19:41Police are ready to talk to Antonio. However, he beats some of
- 19:44that punch because he calls them first someone nervous. Maybe no, maybe he's
- 19:48like, oh, these month huger is gonna be coming looking for men.
- 19:52Might as well go talking. Yeah, because whenever I'm I'm a suspect,
- 19:55possibly in a murderer, I'm just like, yeah, let me call them.
- 19:57That seems innocent. We'll see after I end up. Mysteriously they ceased.
- 20:06Now, Antonio offers up his DNA sample. He agrees to be questioned,
- 20:11he tells police that he met Salia about two years ago at a party
- 20:14and she messaged him on MySpace. That's how that's way back Wednesday over here
- 20:19messaged on MySpace. Did you have a MySpace too? You did have a
- 20:22MySpace. I had a MySpace too. You had to be friends with Tom
- 20:27m he it's my buddy. Yeah, not Tom Sandoval though he's nobody's friend
- 20:32right now, don't I know you've done with that? You made me said
- 20:36now. Police ask him if they were exclusive, but he needs an old
- 20:40Antonio. He needs the police that clarify. He's gonna need what EXI means.
- 20:45He's need He's gonna need the dictionary on that one. He's like,
- 20:49he's like breaking down to me, like I'm in fifth grade, Yes,
- 20:52break it down to me Barney style. So, like, was Celia the
- 20:56only girl that you were seeing? And he was like, oh no,
- 21:02I was seeing other women, but she took it as I was her boyfriend.
- 21:07So Celia thought they were exclusive. Antony was like, hell no,
- 21:11I feel like Celia actually had the actual you know, that's what old dumbasses.
- 21:17He probably didn't know what exclusive meant. So he's just like sure,
- 21:18she probably said do you want to be exclusive? And she was like,
- 21:23he was like, yeah, that's great, baby, Yeah let's do that
- 21:26or whatever. And then he's like, oh no, I was sleeping with
- 21:27all sorts of women. He's just okay, this guy's just a piece of
- 21:30shit. I can tell you that, and he's an idiot. But anyways,
- 21:34yes, okay, we'll see jumping ahead in the story is what you're
- 21:41doing. Huh. So they questioned him about the abuse, and then he
- 21:45says that he had slammed her and pushed her, but he would never punch
- 21:48her. They keep talking to Antonio and he starts speaking real fast, and
- 21:55then he's just saying a bunch of crap, a bunch of mumbo jumbo stuff,
- 21:59and then he goes. Then he starts he tells the police this is
- 22:03a quote, this is a quote, that he was thinking too fast and
- 22:07he got caught up being sneaky. I don't know what that means. We're
- 22:15not operating amongst all cylinders here with old Antonio here. No police flat out
- 22:21asked him if he killed Celia, and he says that he did not,
- 22:23and he does not know who killed Sealia. So they asked him about where
- 22:27he was at the time of the murder. He says he was at home
- 22:30with a girlfriend, forty two year old Cassandra Kimborough. Yeah, and I
- 22:37couldn't get the exact age for old Antonio, but he was not in his
- 22:41forties. He was he was like in his probably mid mid twenties. He
- 22:47was a little I think he was a little bit older than Celia. He
- 22:51was not in college with or anything like that. But now he's not college
- 22:53but two now, it does not seem like him. He might not even
- 22:59be like ninth grade material. I'm not really sure. Man. We can't
- 23:03even send him to get his GEB. No. Now, cass as Antonio
- 23:07called her, did not seem to care about his cheating ways. And she
- 23:11would hang around and knew about the other girls, so and then she wouldn't
- 23:17say anything. So he's just whatever. Yeah, it was great. Then
- 23:19I just I would I would love to talk to all these women, be
- 23:22like, why this guy, why this person? He's just not when you
- 23:30the other girls. So we get into it anyways, we'll get into it.
- 23:33But the other girls, like Slee is like in college, she's about
- 23:36to graduate. She's a cheerleader, very pretty girl, got all this stuff
- 23:40going for a driven, ambitious the forty two year old cass I was expecting,
- 23:45Like, I don't know what I was expecting, but she looks like
- 23:48she could. She's like a school teacher type thing. The other then we'll
- 23:52talk about it later. But there's other girls, and all of them.
- 23:56There's more women. Yes, we'll talk about but the other girls too.
- 23:59We're all like well put together college students. Just sounded very smart and everything
- 24:04is fucking dumbass. I don't get it at all. I like the bad
- 24:10boys, I guess now. Antonio then begins talking about Angela Owens that who
- 24:17was his new girlfriend, and she thought Antonio was a liar. She believed
- 24:22that Antonio was texting Celia, even though Antonio denied it. During this time,
- 24:27Antonio also spoke to a local reporter. He was questioned about the incident
- 24:32back in June twenty ten where he was arrested for the abuse. He says
- 24:36he did not remember the incident as he was drunk that night. But Antonio,
- 24:41Yeah, he might have pushed her, but he did not choke her.
- 24:45That's where he draws the long abuse his bitches, Yeah, Stuart,
- 24:49what he probably would say something like that probably anyways, Yeah, he's Anyways,
- 24:56police they start looking into Angela and ass and they find that Angela and
- 25:00Celia do have a history. So Angela and Celia were fighting over Antonio.
- 25:06Come on, girls, we gotta do better, and things came to a
- 25:08head one night at a club. Now, Celia and Angela actually got into
- 25:12a physical fight and Angela took out a restraining order against Celia. Celio scrapped
- 25:18that scrap er. She was just think she was just trying to I think
- 25:22she was just they got I'm sure they got into it, and I'm sure
- 25:26if Celia initiated then she was just like I'm going to get a restraining order
- 25:30and be like yeah. So after this, Celia was still focused on trying
- 25:36to get back together with Antonias. We got Angela wanting Antonio. Celia got
- 25:41the restraining order, but she still wants to be with Antonio. And then
- 25:44about a month before Celia was murdered, she goes to Antonio's apartment to try
- 25:48and work things out. Now, as she enters the apartment, she sees
- 25:52Angela standing there. Now, her and Angela got into it immediately, as
- 25:56Celia ends up being arrested and taken off to jail. Now realizing she had
- 26:02like how far this has gotten out of hand? Now she's being arrested over
- 26:06this loser guy. Celia makes a decision to stop pursuing Antonio and get back
- 26:11to just focusing on her schoolwork, finishing out her senior year, and moving
- 26:15on with her life. And this was about a month before she was murdered.
- 26:18Oh, I thought you were going to say this is the end.
- 26:21No no oh. On January fifth, police bring in Angela for question.
- 26:27Angela is very calm when retelling the story of her and Salia's encounters. She
- 26:33tells police that four days before the murder, Celia had actually contacted her and
- 26:37apologized for things getting out of hand and for getting in a file with her
- 26:41at the club. Angela accepts the apology, and they seem to make this
- 26:47quasi truce that they have going on. I mean quasi truce. Well,
- 26:52you never know who's if it's real or fake or they both see it's so
- 26:56funny watching them or watching Sli and then watch watching Angela be interviewed. I
- 27:00mean, you think they're so both of them are like just so calm and
- 27:06everything. It's like two girls working on a senior project together in college,
- 27:10not getting into fights at a nightclub. I mean, so yeah, it
- 27:12seemed like they were mature enough to move on past this yeah situation. Police
- 27:18do get Angela's alibi and she says she was at work and a DNA sample
- 27:23as well as a DNA sample, and they let her go because her alibi
- 27:27checks out DNA is not a match. After speaking with her, it didn't
- 27:33seem that she had any ongoing issues with Salia after they after they had had
- 27:38their truce just before the murder. They also seem to both be moving on
- 27:44with their lives and away from Antonio, thank god. Now, while waiting
- 27:48for those DNA samples to come back with Antonio and everything, they begin reviewing
- 27:53gas station footage from around where the body was found. Now, one of
- 27:57these videos, they see Salia's silver Nissan pulling into a gas station around one
- 28:03am the day of the murder. Now, the person walks into the store,
- 28:07but you can tell that this isn't Celia right off. The bat's wrong
- 28:10high and wrong build everything. So the person is wearing a wearing blue pants
- 28:15and a large blue jacket with the hood pulled up, just based on what
- 28:21when they saw Angela. They're thinking maybe this might be Angela. They're not
- 28:23sure, but it's hard to tell for certain because when you see the video,
- 28:27it the hood's pulled over in the face, isn't You can't tell a
- 28:32lot from the face. Now, the person pays for two dollars worth of
- 28:34gasoline to put in a gas can and then walks out of the store back
- 28:38to the vehicle, and today's times, that would be seven dollars. Yes.
- 28:45At this point, police believe that Selia was most likely dead or detained
- 28:48in either the backseat or the trunk of that car that was pulled up in
- 28:52that gas station, which is very disturbing, you know. I mean,
- 28:55they can't see in the car from the angle of the camera, but this
- 28:57is just them assuming, which is really creepy looking at the video, knowing
- 29:02that she's in there. Probably already did now, going on the hunch that
- 29:07it was Angela getting fuel that night, police subpoena for her cell phone records.
- 29:11They want to see if Angela was near the gas station that night,
- 29:15but the records do confirm her alibi. Like I said, because Stu went
- 29:21off. This is what happens when he goes off. Script and starts just
- 29:25like ad living whenever they let her go. The first time, they when
- 29:29they spoke to her and they got her alibi in her DNA, they hadn't
- 29:33actually ran all that stuff. They hadn't checked out her alibi, but they
- 29:37were able to check it with the phone records this time. So anyway,
- 29:41sorry for the confusion people that stu They weren't confused until you confuse them.
- 29:47Angela was at work and then at her home the whole time that the night
- 29:52that Celia was being murdered and disposed of. Now this ruled out Angela for
- 29:57sure, and they were back to their main set aspect. Antonio Antonio,
- 30:02Antonio puss in boots. They're Antonio Banderis that yeah? Said Antonio Bandaris.
- 30:08Yeah. During this whole investigation, they still had not located Celia's missing a
- 30:14vehicle. They do finally catch a break when they get a call saying that
- 30:17it had been found in an apartment complex parking lot. When searching the vehicle,
- 30:22they get the strong smell of gasoline and it seems to be most certainly
- 30:26coming from the floor mat. In the back seat, they find a comforter
- 30:30and two pillow cases in the trunk and it's the same material that was found
- 30:33on Celia's body. Yeah, so they pretty much confirmed this is worth she
- 30:38she was in that car at that gas station. Now they are out of
- 30:44lead, so they released the video footage from the gas station hoping that they
- 30:48can find out who this mystery woman was walking in to get gas. That's
- 30:55our dog anyway, so if you guys heard of that, but he's he's
- 31:00fine. It's probably Jinks attacking him. But Jinx is an asshole. So
- 31:06anyway, so they're trying to figure who this mystery woman is. So a
- 31:07family member of Cassandras calls in stating that they recognize the clothing and it is
- 31:12old cass herself. Do no shout out the old teacher and they didn't really
- 31:18think anything. The police hadn't weren't really honing in on Cassandra because, like
- 31:22we said, old Antonio had multiple bitches, you know, he was he
- 31:26had hose in different area player I hate the game. So that's why they
- 31:32zoned in on Angela because she actually had some sort of issue with Celia.
- 31:37Cass is just this. She's like, oh it's cool, he has lots
- 31:40of girlfriends. I'm down with that, so they didn't even think anything about
- 31:44Cassandra possibly being the person. And tell this, the friend calls in an
- 31:48outcer and be like, that's her clothes, that's her, bitch's clothes.
- 31:49So family member, not friend, but family. Yes, I wonder who
- 31:53she'd done wrong with the family members like that's her. So now they have
- 31:59Cassandra Antonio's side woman getting out of Celia's vehicle. Now they also get the
- 32:04DNA test back at the same time, and they find Antonio's DNA on the
- 32:07piece of tissue they found near the crime scene. So, like we said,
- 32:10there was tissue in the grass that they just were like collecting everything.
- 32:14Well, they get a break because there's Antonio's DNA right there. Now with
- 32:17this information, they got into rest warrant for Antonio and Cassandra. Antonio and
- 32:23cass are placed in separate rooms and they're confronted with the evidence that police have
- 32:29found. It's not looking good either. Look, we got DNA, we
- 32:32got video footage them in the car. You're in her car. Yeah,
- 32:37Antonio starts blaming Cassandra immediately. Of course, I would expect nothing unless that
- 32:40from Antonio. He says that Cassandra went into Celia's apartment or went to her
- 32:46apartment that date and confronted her about some money that Celia owed D'Antonio. So
- 32:52he's she's also like his enforced her. Yeah, he gonna go over there
- 32:58and bust some knees. Yeah. Now, and Tonio says he didn't know
- 33:01anything about Cassandra's plans to go over there. That day. He says,
- 33:06Cassandra came back to his house and tells him that she had killed Celia.
- 33:10Antonio starts crying, of course, as he's a sensitive fellow. He is,
- 33:15and he tells police that he was spooked and he didn't want to hear
- 33:17any more about what happened. He could not hear those grewsome details now police,
- 33:24Yeah, I means, police are like, wow, this guy's crying.
- 33:28He must be telling the truth. Actually, they were like, he's
- 33:30really been working on himself. He's actually he's yes, yes, he's called
- 33:34into better help, speaking a better help. If you need no kidding,
- 33:37an, I don't pay us, pay us, Joe, go to better
- 33:42help. Now. Police knew immediately that Antonio was full of shit, because
- 33:46they had already attained the entrance records on Celia's apartment. Her apartment had one
- 33:52of those access that was operated by a keycard, and no one had ever
- 33:55entered Celia's home that day, So the murder could not have happened in her
- 34:00apartment. Yeah, because nobody was there, I mean nobody went. It
- 34:04would have showed the access of at least Sealia going and there if it'd been
- 34:07there, nothing, no activity. Now with this information, Antonio quickly changes
- 34:13this story and as far as he can do anything quickly to be honest with
- 34:17the wheels are not running in no hamster might be dead up there. Now,
- 34:23Antonio admits that a murder occurred at his home, so he starts walking
- 34:30them through what happened that day. He says, Celia came over to his
- 34:34house and Cassandra was there. Now, they got into an argument and Cassandra
- 34:37actually hits Seliah over the head with a fire extinguisher, and she appeared to
- 34:42be dead. I gotta appreciate his home safety with his Now he says that
- 34:52he told Cassandra, well, she's dead now, those are his words.
- 34:55Um. He tells them that he had nothing to do with murdering Sealia at
- 34:59all. He's just over there, innocent bystander the business and she's hitting her
- 35:05over there with a fire extum show. Now police aren't quite behind this,
- 35:07so they speak to Cassandra. Now, like I told you, Cassandra looks
- 35:12like she could be like a middle school teacher. This is not this is
- 35:15not some hardcore person or anything. This is she looks like a nice She's
- 35:20very like a soft spoken whenever she's in her interview, just like it seems
- 35:23like a nice person that she just would not think would have anything to do
- 35:27with this idiot. So she keeps not wanting to talk about what happened,
- 35:32and then she finally starts crying and says, everything, everyone is going to
- 35:36think bad of me. I don't know if we per se thing bad of
- 35:40her, but we would definitely question her taste and men. Yes, yeah,
- 35:44So she says she did not know anything about anything had happened to Celia
- 35:49that day whenever Antonio called her to come over to his house. So when
- 35:52she walks in and she sees Celia lying there, lifeless, she's, you
- 35:57know, in shock. So Antonio says that they got into a fight and
- 36:02she was going to call the police on him, so he killed her.
- 36:06Now, Cassandra said she was afraid of Antonio, so she just did whatever
- 36:08he said and helped wrap her up and put her in the trunk of the
- 36:12car. Nikin, I can see this like she's walked into this. She's
- 36:15in his house. He's just killed somebody else. She probably knows his Hell,
- 36:19I'm calling the cop. Yeah, he just said he killed someone for
- 36:22saying that they were going to call the cops on him for something less than
- 36:24like murdering somebody. So she then after they wrapped her up and put her
- 36:30in the trunk, they then drove the car, or Cassandra drove the car
- 36:34to a relatives of Antonio's, where he came back to the car with a
- 36:37shovel and a gas kid. They then went to the gas station and then
- 36:40on where you know we see Cassandra get out on the video and then onto
- 36:45that dump site. Now, Cassandra said he made her pour the gasoline and
- 36:49liked the match. Cassandra said she was crying. She was very upset and
- 36:52she prayed for Celia while she was doing this. And then or you know,
- 36:55after they left her on fire and stuff, and then they left.
- 37:00Police charge Antonio with first degree murder and Cassandra with accessory to murder. In
- 37:05June of twenty twelve, police do cut a deal with Cassandra in return for
- 37:08her testimonial against Antonio. She would go to jail for two years and then
- 37:14be on probation for eight years. Good call on her part, Yes,
- 37:16definitely turn on him now seeing the ride on the wall. Antonio also takes
- 37:22a plea deal so he didn't get that death penalty because in Florida they will
- 37:25kill you, yes, especially because he not only murdered somebody, he actually
- 37:30you know, then he desecration of a body's hit it, all the other
- 37:36things on top of them. Yeah. Now, on May third, twenty
- 37:38twelve, Antonio is sentenced to forty five years in prison. So he could
- 37:44get out and kill us for Collingdom. He could. It's a long,
- 37:46long haul. It's gonna be a long planned I'll planning going an early release
- 37:50or anything for good. They're not doing that in Florida. Now to this
- 37:54day, police don't know how Celia died. I mean, I would think
- 37:58that if you're going to couple plete that you'd have to how'd you do it?
- 38:02No, I mean they can. I've seen it. I've seen it
- 38:07go both ways like some of them the family he likes, well, we're
- 38:08not making a deal unless you tell us how. And then sometimes the family's
- 38:12like, I don't need to know, I just want him in prison.
- 38:15A lot of that, I feel like a lot of it is up to
- 38:17the family what they want to do. Well, Antonio never explained in full
- 38:22what happened or really why he killed Celia. He was abusive. They believe
- 38:27that it was an argument that turned physical and then escalated into murder, and
- 38:31that he then strangled her. Now Antonio is currently in the Florida Department of
- 38:37Corrections serving out his time. Yes, not listening to this podcast. It's
- 38:42been eleven years. He's got another thirty son. God, well, we
- 38:45know when we're going to die. So um, he's not smart enough to
- 38:51put all this together, though, thank he's smart enough to listen to a
- 38:53podcast. No, well, as friends might turn it on and be like,
- 38:58dude, he doesn't have any friends. Come on, you don't think
- 39:00he's a smooth talker. Look at these dumb dumes? Are these women?
- 39:06You can't call them dumb dume Stewart, I mean, I don't understand sometimes
- 39:08these women that well, you know what some people would say, I'm stupid
- 39:13for being with you, Stewart. What probably people currently listening to this podcast
- 39:19gonna write us a one story. You'd be like, I don't know how
- 39:21she's with him, and then she'd be like They'll be like, no,
- 39:22she's so annoying. I don't understand how he's with her, And yeah,
- 39:28we're just suited for each other's that's where we're at anyways. But that's our
- 39:32story. I feel really bad for the family because they came all the way
- 39:36from Africa and starting this new life with their family and they finally let yeah,
- 39:43they finally, you know, their daughter moves out and they didn't really
- 39:45want her to move out, but she did, and then this happened.
- 39:47I mean, this doesn't This isn't the I mean, I would like to
- 39:52say, this isn't the norm of what happens in America. But we are
- 39:53a true crime podcast, so there's a lot there's a lot of true crime.
- 39:58There's a lot of things happening here in the U. But yeah,
- 40:00I feel really bad for her family that they come here with all this hope
- 40:04and promise for their children and their futures. And he gets mixed up on
- 40:07Antonio, we fucking up over here to America. But any well, well,
- 40:12this is on Antonio. That is on Antonio. So if you see
- 40:15a fellow like Antonio, ladies don't date a family like a fellow like Antonio.
- 40:21Yeah, that doesn't know what exclusive means. We're not asking him if
- 40:27he knows what exculpatory evidence is. We just want to know if he wouldn't
- 40:30knows what it means to be exclusive with a person. Yeah. So anyways,
- 40:35all right, Stu, you have a y'all Need Jesus? Well,
- 40:37well, of course I do. I have one every week, all right,
- 40:40and this week's installment of y'all Need Jesus or Florida, not Florida.
- 40:47Kara the marker bandits that's my name, asked me again. I'll see the
- 40:52same gained national attention marker marker, Okay, Florida, not Florida. That's
- 41:04all I get. Like, what are you talking about? Marker like markers?
- 41:07Yeah, like a sharpie color, Yes, like a sharpie a permanent
- 41:10mark marker bandits, gay national attention. That's all you're giving me, That's
- 41:15all I'm giving you. I'm gonna go with not Florida because I don't think
- 41:19anybody in Florida knows how to write, so therefore they have no reason to
- 41:22steal markers. You can use markers for other things, as you will find
- 41:25out, like drawing penises on bathroom doors. Okay, well that's Florida Radio
- 41:31actually did that in vander Pump Rolls. I know we keep talking about that
- 41:35and all that way, way, do not I keep talking about It's a
- 41:38big happening right now, stud Okay Radio. Iowa October twenty nine, two
- 41:44thousand and nine. A couple of young men from western Iowa who recently ran
- 41:49into some trouble with the law or gaining national attention for their bizarre mug shots.
- 41:53Twenty three year old Matthew McNally and twenty year old Joey Miller are accused
- 42:00of trying to break into an apartment in Carol last Friday night. The occupantor
- 42:05of the apartment called police and reported the men fled in a vehicle. Carol
- 42:08Police Chief Jeff Kaylor says mcnellie and Miller had used permanent markers to blacken their
- 42:16faces. Oh God, they drew masks and beards on their face with a
- 42:22permanent marker to hide their identity while they committed crime. Why didn't they just
- 42:27hold a crayon up to their like a mustache? Like a mustache. Now
- 42:30it's a little weird, Kaylor said. I've been here long enough that I've
- 42:35seen a lot of things, but this one's a little different compared to most.
- 42:38I mean, just the face thing is what sets it apart. The
- 42:43guy saw them get out of the car, so it wasn't like they were
- 42:45invisible. Mcnellie and Miller were captured and their mugshots shown their faces covered in
- 42:52black ink. The photos and story were quickly spreading to the Worldwide Web,
- 43:00the www. This is back in two thousand. Oh okay, they were
- 43:05still calling it the worldwide Kaylor says one of the suspects, but that didn't
- 43:10have the word gone viral. Now there was no such thing as the viral
- 43:14back when Kaylor says, one of the suspects believe the owner of the apartment
- 43:19was seeing his girlfriend. Presumably it wasn't much of a burglary. Since that
- 43:25we're going to have some kind of discussion for what it's worth. They appeared
- 43:30to both have been drinking quite a bit and maybe weren't thinking quite rationally.
- 43:35Kaylor said. Both men were trying to give him a little credit for that
- 43:38one. Okay, sure, yeah, they were really drunk. I've never
- 43:42gotten so drunk that I've drawn on my face and then went and tried to
- 43:45rob somebody. Maybe they were supposed to have a well there was a robbery
- 43:50angle and dudes like banging my girlfriend. So we're gonna go have a chat
- 43:54while we dress up as like we're gonna beat him up or something on all.
- 43:58Either way, I haven't done either of those things while drinking too much.
- 44:00No, you've done another things drinking too much, but not that I
- 44:06can attest. I can testify now. Both men were charged with attempted second
- 44:09degree burglary and released after posting bond. McNelly also faces charges of drunken driving.
- 44:19Kaylor says he's a received call from media outlets around the country seeking comment
- 44:23on the incident now. The update was November fifth, two thousand and nine.
- 44:31Carol, Iowa Associated Press. A Carroll County judge has dismissed dismissed attempted
- 44:38burglary charges against two men who painted their faces with permanent black marker. Judge
- 44:45Christopher Poking dismissed the chargers Wednesday against Matthew McNelly and Joey Miller. He said
- 44:51there was insufficient evidence to support provacable cause that the men committed what there's no
- 44:58evidence the men entered the just they got They got away with being stupid.
- 45:01Well, I mean, isn't the crime enough that they probably had to deal
- 45:05with that permanent market for quite some time? Well? Yeah, because it's
- 45:08now twenty twenty three and from two thousand and nine we have we're fourteen years
- 45:14into this and we're still yes, reading them, yes, mocking them.
- 45:19It won't die. You went your original. You were the original case of
- 45:22going viral. Yes, all right, so um, well think anything else?
- 45:28Do you need anything else? No? I don't. Are you sure
- 45:30else? Excuse me while I whipped us out? Oh god? That it's
- 45:39from a movie? What movie? A movie? If you guess that movie,
- 45:44you get Brownie points or Adam boys or whatever that's any of those things.
- 45:50Well, you don't get in you're a host Erope, I love you
- 45:59added its stunn. I called you our home. Did you just you're gonna
- 46:04say you're out? Yes, just out of boy, if you don't get
- 46:09anything, that's what I thought. And then you then you ended it with
- 46:13stuff and I was like a host. Anyways, all right, so um,
- 46:19thank you for listening and write review, subscribe on iTunes. I forgot
- 46:22to mention that I think, do you think anybody's still listening to this point?
