Palm Bay Adopts FY2027 Rollback Rate With 18.3% Spending Cut, Aquatic Center Closure
PALM BAY, FL (The Palm Bayer) — The Palm Bay City Council moved aggressively to finalize its fiscal strategy for the upcoming year during the August 4 budget workshop. Council members adopted the FY2027 rollback tax rate and secured a $1 million budget surplus buffer. The consensus was strong enough that the city canceled its second planned budget workshop entirely.
The approved FY2027 budget sets the millage rate at 6.6015. This represents a decrease from the FY2026 rate of 6.7000. To achieve this, the city implemented a sweeping 18.3% overall cut in municipal spending.
