- 0:15Speaker 1: their support. All right, guys. I've been searching for answers
- 0:19Speaker 1: about this poor offensive line play. And, you know, I just...
- 0:24Speaker 1: I think, you know, sometimes there are those games where
- 0:26Speaker 1: you just watch the offensive line struggle. And the explanation...
- 0:30Speaker 1: It's kind of pretty simple. They got their butts kicked.
- 0:33Speaker 1: The guy across from you was stronger. He was faster.
- 0:35Speaker 1: He beat you off the ball. That's kind of like
- 0:37Speaker 1: end of story. But when you go back and actually
- 0:40Speaker 1: watch Florida's offensive line against Missouri, I don't know that
- 0:44Speaker 1: it was quite that simple. And then after watching Landon
- 0:47Speaker 1: Tagual's breakdown on Florida's film, there were some things that
- 0:51Speaker 1: were really concerning. So yeah, Florida lost individual matchups. And yes,
- 0:57Speaker 1: Missouri's defensive front was really physical. But there were also
- 1:00Speaker 1: assignment issues, communication issues, little details that Florida didn't execute.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And maybe most importantly, Missouri found a way to take
- 1:08Speaker 1: away the things that have made this Florida offense so
- 1:11Speaker 1: good through the first month of the season. And once
- 1:14Speaker 1: Florida couldn't run the ball, once they couldn't stay ahead
- 1:17Speaker 1: of the chains, once they got forced into second and
- 1:19Speaker 1: long and third and long, the entire thing started to
- 1:22Speaker 1: fall apart. So today I want to get into what
- 1:25Speaker 1: Landon Tegwall saw on film. what happened to Florida's offensive line,
- 1:29Speaker 1: and whether this is something Gator fans should actually be
- 1:31Speaker 1: worried about going forward. Because I think there's a lot
- 1:33Speaker 1: to unpack here. And, you know, before we get into Florida,
- 1:37Speaker 1: you have to give Missouri credit. One of the biggest
- 1:39Speaker 1: themes from Landon's breakdown was just how disciplined Missouri was defensively.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Florida had been extremely successful this season using motion, pulling linemen, misdirection,
- 1:50Speaker 1: orbit motion, jet action, all those little things that are
- 1:53Speaker 1: designed to get linebackers and safeties looking one direction. while
- 1:57Speaker 1: Florida attacked somewhere else. And up until Saturday, teams were
- 2:00Speaker 1: biting on it. Florida would motion somebody one way, linebackers
- 2:04Speaker 1: would flow, and suddenly there's a crease going back the
- 2:06Speaker 1: other direction. Missouri just basically refused to play that game.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Their defenders trusted their keys, their edge players stayed home,
- 2:13Speaker 1: their linebackers didn't chase the eye candy, and over and
- 2:17Speaker 1: over again, Florida would try to create movement with motion,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and Missouri basically said, nah, we know exactly what you're
- 2:23Speaker 1: trying to do. You know, Florida's running game just isn't
- 2:27Speaker 1: about lining up and saying we're bigger than you. So
- 2:30Speaker 1: that's why them being able to figure out what Florida
- 2:32Speaker 1: was doing hurts so badly. There's normally a lot of
- 2:36Speaker 1: manipulation involved in what this offense is trying to do.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Florida wants you out of position. Well, Missouri stayed in position.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And when you combine that with the kind of discipline
- 2:46Speaker 1: that this defensive front had, and they were also winning
- 2:49Speaker 1: individual matchups, now Florida has a problem. One thing Landon
- 2:53Speaker 1: showed multiple times was Missouri's ability to completely shut down
- 2:57Speaker 1: Florida's outside run game. Florida tries to get outside. Missouri
- 3:00Speaker 1: sets the edge. Florida tries to cut back. There's penetration inside.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And then there's nowhere to go. And that's really important
- 3:07Speaker 1: because when an outside zone play is working the way
- 3:09Speaker 1: it's supposed to, the running back usually has options. Take
- 3:13Speaker 1: the edge if it's there, put your foot in the
- 3:14Speaker 1: ground and cut vertical, or bend it back if the
- 3:17Speaker 1: defense overflows. Florida didn't have those options Saturday. And on
- 3:21Speaker 1: one of the plays that Landon highlighted, Missouri gets a
- 3:23Speaker 1: strong edge set. Florida has trouble sealing the interior. And
- 3:27Speaker 1: then the defensive tackle gets penetration right into the backfield.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So where is the running back supposed to go? The
- 3:33Speaker 1: outside is gone. The inside is gone. The cutback is gone.
- 3:35Speaker 1: That's not one guy losing. That's the entire structure of
- 3:38Speaker 1: the play collapsing. And that's where I think we have
- 3:41Speaker 1: to separate Florida's, you know, the offensive line was bad
- 3:45Speaker 1: from exactly how it was bad. Sometimes the tackle loses.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Sometimes you get an interior slant that causes problems. Sometimes
- 3:54Speaker 1: the polar can't get where he needs to go because
- 3:56Speaker 1: there's penetration. And suddenly what looks like a really successful
- 3:59Speaker 1: run concept against Ole Miss looks completely dead against Missouri.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's what happened. Missouri took away Florida's choices. Now, with
- 4:09Speaker 1: all that said, there absolutely were some individual losses too.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Landon highlighted a rep where Missouri gets a defensive tackle
- 4:15Speaker 1: matched up on Florida's offensive tackle. And the defender works
- 4:19Speaker 1: power into a rip move, gets extension, gets control, yanks
- 4:23Speaker 1: the offensive lineman down, just absolutely rips through and gets
- 4:26Speaker 1: to Philo's throwing arm. That's just a really good pass
- 4:30Speaker 1: rush rep. There's not a whole lot of scheming around that.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You got beat. And later in the game, Florida is
- 4:36Speaker 1: getting pressure surrendered against three-man rushes. That can't happen. I
- 4:40Speaker 1: do not care who you are playing. If a defense
- 4:43Speaker 1: is dropping eight and rushing three, the quarterback has to
- 4:45Speaker 1: have time. Yet Landon points out on a third and
- 4:49Speaker 1: 10 where Missouri gets home extremely quickly, which is three.
- 4:53Speaker 1: That is a nightmare scenario offensively because if they can
- 4:57Speaker 1: cover with eight and pressure with three, you have nowhere
- 4:59Speaker 1: to go with the football. And that's where the offensive
- 5:01Speaker 1: line performance goes from, you know, Missouri had a great
- 5:04Speaker 1: game plan to Florida didn't execute well enough. There were
- 5:08Speaker 1: some reps where Florida just simply got beat. I am
- 5:14Speaker 1: now going to take a quick break because I want
- 5:17Speaker 1: to give some love over to our partners at Alumni Hall. Guys,

- 6:13Speaker 1: We appreciate Alumni Hall for all of their support. Now
- 6:16Speaker 1: let's get back to the video. All right. So, you know,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I think maybe one of the more interesting plays that
- 6:26Speaker 1: Landon broke down was the third and two quarterback power.
- 6:28Speaker 1: This wasn't necessarily somebody getting physically whipped. This looked like
- 6:32Speaker 1: a communication and assignment problem. Florida had six blockers. Missouri
- 6:36Speaker 1: had seven defenders around the box, but one defender has
- 6:39Speaker 1: to respect the fake pitch. So effectively... You can get
- 6:42Speaker 1: this thing blocked six on six. Except Missouri ends up
- 6:45Speaker 1: with a defensive tackle completely unblocked in the backfield. How?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Because Florida gets crossed up on responsibilities. The pulling lineman
- 6:53Speaker 1: is working to the linebacker. Another blocker sees the linebacker
- 6:57Speaker 1: plugging and reacts to him. And now the defensive tackle,
- 7:00Speaker 1: who should have been accounted for, is running free. That's
- 7:03Speaker 1: the stuff that kills you. Listen, physical mistakes happen. You
- 7:07Speaker 1: are going to lose a pass rush rep occasionally. You
- 7:10Speaker 1: are going to get knocked backwards occasionally. But when you
- 7:13Speaker 1: have a third and two and the play design gives
- 7:15Speaker 1: you a chance, you cannot have somebody running untouched in
- 7:18Speaker 1: the backfield because two blockers aren't on the same page.
- 7:21Speaker 1: That is a huge difference between winning football and losing football.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And Florida barely gets anything out of it, which sets
- 7:27Speaker 1: up fourth and inches. Fourth and inches. And they couldn't
- 7:31Speaker 1: get an inch. They basically needed nothing. And Missouri stuffs them.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Landon pointed out exactly how Missouri did it. Their defensive
- 7:39Speaker 1: tackle got underneath Florida's offensive lineman, one leverage, and their
- 7:42Speaker 1: linebackers came over the top. That is textbook short yardage defense.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And this is probably the part that stings the most
- 7:48Speaker 1: if you're Florida. Because this offense wants to have a
- 7:51Speaker 1: physical identity. Florida wants to run the ball. They want
- 7:53Speaker 1: to lean on you. They want to be the team
- 7:55Speaker 1: that on fourth and inches lines up and says, we
- 7:58Speaker 1: are getting this. But Missouri said no. That sequence really
- 8:02Speaker 1: was the game in miniature. Florida didn't execute the little
- 8:06Speaker 1: detail on third down. Then Missouri won the leverage battle
- 8:09Speaker 1: on fourth down. Drive over. That's championship-level football from Missouri,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and it wasn't championship-level football from Florida. Then there's the
- 8:17Speaker 1: self-inflicted mistakes. Florida finally hits a big play, exactly what
- 8:21Speaker 1: you need. You know, I just, this was so frustrating.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Florida gets into Missouri territory, and it comes back because
- 8:30Speaker 1: of an illegal formation. Landon showed the tackle lined up
- 8:33Speaker 1: too far on the line of scrimmage. That is a
- 8:35Speaker 1: tiny detail. But football games are decided by the tiny details.
- 8:40Speaker 1: You finally hit something. You finally create some momentum. You
- 8:42Speaker 1: finally flip the field. And instead of first down in
- 8:45Speaker 1: Missouri territory, you are moving backwards. And Landon basically says
- 8:48Speaker 1: that drive dies from there. These are the plays that
- 8:52Speaker 1: coaches talk about when they say you beat yourself. Not
- 8:55Speaker 1: because Missouri didn't play well. They absolutely did, and I
- 8:57Speaker 1: don't want to take anything away from them. They deserve
- 8:59Speaker 1: their flowers. But Florida made life easier for them. You
- 9:03Speaker 1: cannot have formational penalties wipe out explosive plays when you're
- 9:08Speaker 1: struggling to sustain your offense. I think my biggest takeaway
- 9:14Speaker 1: from the entire day breakdown is that Florida's offense is
- 9:18Speaker 1: built to play on a schedule. Run the football, create
- 9:20Speaker 1: manageable second downs, use play action, move the launch point,
- 9:24Speaker 1: Create eye violations with motion. Get the defense flowing one direction.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Attack somewhere else. That's when this offense hums. But against Missouri,
- 9:33Speaker 1: Florida couldn't consistently run the football. And when you don't
- 9:35Speaker 1: run it on first down, now it's second and nine.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Then maybe there's a penalty. Now it's second and 14.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Now you're in third and long. And suddenly all the
- 9:43Speaker 1: deception that Florida uses so effectively becomes way less threatening.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Nobody cares about your play fake on third and 12.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Nobody's biting hard on your run action when everybody in
- 9:52Speaker 1: the stadium knows you have to throw it. And now
- 9:54Speaker 1: Philo is standing in the true drop back situations. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: this offensive line then has to be. to hold up
- 10:00Speaker 1: on those one-on-ones. That's not the strength of this offense.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Landon specifically said Florida really had not had to live
- 10:09Speaker 1: in this world very much this season, but they did
- 10:11Speaker 1: against Missouri. And you could see the difference. It started
- 10:14Speaker 1: to break down. When Florida got forced into those obvious
- 10:17Speaker 1: passing situations, Missouri started getting home. Three-man rushes created pressure.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Edge rushers won. Interior guys won. Delayed blitzes got there.
- 10:25Speaker 1: And Philo didn't always look comfortable. Now, I want to
- 10:28Speaker 1: be clear. That doesn't mean that this offensive line is
- 10:30Speaker 1: suddenly terrible. It means there is a style of football
- 10:33Speaker 1: Florida wants to play. And when you remove that style,
- 10:36Speaker 1: you start asking this offensive line and this quarterback to
- 10:38Speaker 1: do some things that they are not as comfortable doing.
- 10:41Speaker 1: That's the lesson. Florida cannot allow opponents to dictate the
- 10:45Speaker 1: game to the point where they become a pure dropback
- 10:47Speaker 1: passing team. It's not what this offense is built to be.
- 10:50Speaker 1: The offense is built around the run game and everything
- 10:53Speaker 1: that comes off of the run game. Missouri removed the
- 10:55Speaker 1: first piece. Everything else became harder. And by the second half,
- 10:59Speaker 1: Florida looked like an offense searching for answers. So how
- 11:04Speaker 1: worried should we be? You know, here's where I land.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I would be concerned. I would not panic. Those are
- 11:10Speaker 1: two totally different Things. There are absolutely things on this
- 11:15Speaker 1: tape Florida has to clean up. The communication mistake on
- 11:18Speaker 1: third and short? Fixable. Illegal formation? Fixable. Some of the
- 11:22Speaker 1: assignment issues? Fixable. But the one-on-one losses? That's something you
- 11:26Speaker 1: have to monitor. Because South Carolina watched this film. Georgia
- 11:30Speaker 1: is going to watch this film. Every team Florida plays
- 11:32Speaker 1: for the rest of the season is going to watch
- 11:34Speaker 1: what Missouri did. They are going to tell their defensive
- 11:37Speaker 1: ends to stay home. They are going to tell linebackers
- 11:39Speaker 1: not to chase motions. They are going to try to
- 11:41Speaker 1: force Florida to win the boring way. Block us. Beat
- 11:44Speaker 1: us one-on-one. Throw from the pocket. And now Florida has
- 11:47Speaker 1: to prove that it can do that because this is
- 11:49Speaker 1: the chess match that happens during a season. You find
- 11:52Speaker 1: something that works, then somebody finds a counter. And now
- 11:55Speaker 1: it's your turn to counter the counter. And that may
- 11:59Speaker 1: ultimately be the biggest thing Landon Tegwall's film review tells us.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Missouri didn't discover that Florida can't play offense. They discovered
- 12:06Speaker 1: how to make Florida play offense differently. They took away
- 12:10Speaker 1: the misdirection. They set hard edges. They created penetration inside.
- 12:14Speaker 1: They stayed disciplined against Florida's motion. And once Florida got
- 12:17Speaker 1: behind the sticks, Missouri forced them into true passing situations
- 12:21Speaker 1: and they won up front. That is the blueprint Florida
- 12:24Speaker 1: is going to see again. So now the question becomes,
- 12:27Speaker 1: how does Florida answer it? Can the offensive line clean
- 12:30Speaker 1: up the communication? Can they win more consistently one-on-one? Can
- 12:34Speaker 1: Florida find answers where the team refuses to chase motion
- 12:37Speaker 1: and misdirection? And most importantly, can they get back to
- 12:41Speaker 1: running the football well enough that this offense can operate
- 12:43Speaker 1: on its own terms again? Landon said it perfectly at
- 12:46Speaker 1: the end of his breakdown. This offense hums when Florida
- 12:49Speaker 1: can run the football and then build the passing game
- 12:52Speaker 1: off of that. Against Missouri, they couldn't, and everything else
- 12:55Speaker 1: suffered because of it. The good news? It's all on tape.
- 12:59Speaker 1: So now we get to find out whether or not
- 13:02Speaker 1: Florida has the ability to fix it. And it starts
- 13:05Speaker 1: this week against South Carolina. We appreciate PrizePix for all
- 13:09Speaker 1: their support. Don't forget, guys, download the app, play a
- 13:11Speaker 1: $ 5 lineup, and use our code. It's HMA. If you're
- 13:14Speaker 1: a new user and you win, you'll get $ 150 in
- 13:16Speaker 1: lineups instantly. Thanks for tuning in, and as always, go Gators.
