You know, I'm going to tell you a little bit about my upbringing,

a little bit about my life, that I'm going to pray for you.

You know, I didn't grow up with the best. I did grow up with an alcoholic father,

but if I can do it, anybody can do it.

So my first thing is not like this crazy money

thing but it's but it's what i did and then i'll share with you kind of what

led up but give your life to jesus and let him rewrite your identity so my first

hack it's not a budget it's not a bank account or investment but you have to

let Let God be the loudest voice in your life,

because before God can change what's in your hand,

he's got to change what's in your head and in your heart.

So when you grow up like I did, put down all the time, you can either carry

that into your future and sabotage yourself, which a lot of people do.

You can think small. You can think that you're really what they said about you.

You can expect rejection, pain, all this stuff. you can feel like money,

blessing, success is always for somebody else, but not for you.

So in a nutshell, I don't want to take up the whole broadcast on me,

but I'll tell you what happened. So my mother married an alcoholic, lovely for me.

And from the time I was a little girl, he actually wasn't my dad,

but I didn't know this. He wasn't my biological father, but I had no idea.

So I have a father who wants nothing to do with me, by the way.

So I'm a twofer. So anyway, the father I was raised with, he was just really freaking cruel.

When I was a little girl, he took a beer. I was only five. I wasn't eating my food.

He said if I was going to be like a pig, I could eat like a pig.

And he brought me in the bathroom and he set me in front of the toilet.

The lid was closed, but he set my plate on the toilet seat.

And he made me to eat in there. And then one time he was really mad at me.

It might have been that same instance. And he took a beer and he dumped it on top of my head.

And I just remember that beer running down my eyes and my face.

And here I am, a grown woman.

I don't know when you'll be listening to this, but I'm in my 50s and I still remember it.

I mean, it's faded, but I still remember. And so I didn't grow up with encouragement.

I didn't grow up with blessing. I didn't grow up with a lot of money.

We were just an average middle to low income house.

I had three younger brothers. I was the oldest of them.

And to be honest, I was made to pick up after them a lot. I had to do their laundry.

I was always doing the dishes for everybody. I was mothering a lot.

It just wasn't a cool situation at all.

And then you couple that with a dad that's always drunk and screaming and he

would scream at me and he would yell out the front door and he would say He

would call me Queenie because he said that I would sit around all day and do nothing like a queen,

which nothing could be further from the truth.

I'll tell you that. But that's how I grew up.

And so you have a choice in life. You can either take all that cruelty in and

decide that that's who you are, that you'll, you know, like he told me,

you'll never be anything.

You're going to get married, have a bunch of kids that you can't afford.

And you can take all that in and hold it to your heart and you can become that

or you can go the other way.

Now, I don't believe I would have had the power to go the other way without

Jesus, which is why I'm glad you're listening to this podcast,

because I'll give you a chance at the end to know Christ if for any reason you don't already.

But now you know why my first hack for finances is that let God be the loudest

voice in your life, because if you grew up and you were told you're not smart enough,

our family's not rich enough, we don't know enough, the rich people are bad,

and we don't like them or any of those squirrely, weird things.

You're going to have to just let it go and let God, you know,

that's where that people say that, let go and let God.

You have to let God be the loudest voice in your life.

And the Bible says, and Jeremiah, I know the plans I have for you,

plans to give you hope and a future.

And the Bible says that he's the one that created you and he created you for

good things, not for bad.

I don't know about you, but that's good news. So when I gave my life to Jesus,

I started to learn that I wasn't who my dad said I was.

I was not rejected. I was not lazy.

I was none of those things. And the Bible says in 2 Corinthians,

if anyone is in Christ, he's a new creature.

Old things are passed away and all things become new.

So even though I was the daughter of an alcoholic and I had been abused verbally,

when I became new on the inside, born again, I was no longer that girl.

I was no longer a beaten down, bruised up, yelled at, rejected girl.

I was now a daughter of the living God, and he was talking to me and he was

helping me and he was showing me things in the Word of God that made me feel

better about myself because I realized my dad was just messed up and that what

he said about me had nothing to do with who I was. Make sense?

And now I did, you know, I was a professional singer for quite some time.

I sang in the world and all that.
6:30
And I'll tell you some of the things that led to prosperity.

And I believe you can do these same things that I'm going to tell you.

So your old story is not the end.

Your family background does not get the final word.

Your trauma doesn't get the final word. And your bank account doesn't have the

final word. God does, all right?

The devil might've written the first chapter, but God owns the publishing rights to your story.

And even if the devil tried to do something, like with my life,

you know, the devil thought, I'm gonna have her with this sucky dad and it's

gonna destroy her life, but he lost.

He lost and I'm going up further. And I'm believing that I'm not even halfway

where I need to be, that I'm going to do even more. And I believe you can too.

So godly hack one is let God write the story of your life. Let him take over.

All right, two, work with what God put in your hands and multiply.

Okay, let's say that word out loud, wherever you are, multiply.

Because I want to tell you a story.

When my husband and I were married, you know, he worked a job.
7:31
And I'll tell you how we started to accumulate some wealth in a second.

But he worked a job and every day we would pray the same prayer.

God, please help us to increase.

God, give us wisdom. God. And we would pray it over and over and over and over and over.

And we tithed. We trusted God, you know, all that stuff. But we kind of stayed

at the same level in a sense.

Now, that doesn't make any sense because I know God's supposed to multiply,

but it also proves that you have a part to play.

So finally, we knew like my husband had some skills or abilities and he could

do more as far as like his own business.

But he was scared, like most people, because he was an employee.

And so he didn't want to do it. And you might be thinking, great,

Lisa, you know, I don't want to have my own business.

Well, you might not want to have your own business, but you could do a side

thing. You could be employed by somebody and do a side thing,

and you could ask God to multiply that, you know, you can do something. You can do something.

Sorry. So anyway, so after all these praying, my husband finally decided to

launch out and do his own business.

And that exceedingly helped us.

Now, I will say, so let's talk about some wealth building principles.

So when I was on the road and I was singing, I didn't rent. I bought a house.

I bought a house in vegas and you know in anybody first-time homeowners There's

all kinds of ways to buy a home, but I would encourage you not to rent because,

I know it's I know you think it's hard But you're literally throwing your money

away for something you don't own At least if you have a home you could sell

it and get some equity out of it because usually real estate always increases,

So that's what I did.

I bought a house In vegas and that was the house we lived in while we had my

daughter and all this stuff And then we came to Tennessee,

And he got a job, just a schleppy job, not a good one. Then he got a second

job, which I hate that job forever.

But look for, if you are going to do a job, look for a job that offers you some kind of stock options.

So this company had their own stocks or whatever, and they would take part of

his check and put it in there.

Which, you know, it wasn't like we were doing super great at the time,

but they took part of the money and that was that. We never thought about it. Well, guess what?

By the time he was done with that job, he had accumulated, I think,

something like, I don't know, a little over $200,000 in that investment account,

probably a little bit more than that.

And it just kept increasing because as you invest money, it does increase.

You multiply it. You know, that talks about in the Bible, God gave talents to

each one and the one turned it into two and the other turned it into 10 and

the one buried it in the ground.

So if you're expecting to be prosperous, but you don't ever take what you've

got and do something with it, whether it's the talent or money that you have, it can't multiply.

God needs you to place it somewhere to do something. Now, the first thing you

should place is in the kingdom of God.

But you can increase. So anyway, the house that was helpful.

Then he had an investment account. That's helpful. So,

Oh, and let me say this. When I was in my 20s, I mean, I didn't have that much

money at all, but I started my own Roth investment account with only,

I think, $1,000 or a few hundred or whatever. Well, guess what happened?

It increased and now it's up to like $15,000. So I'll probably give that to

my daughter just by doing nothing, just by sitting and accumulating over 20 years.

Now in 20 years, is $15,000 a lot? No, it's really not, but it's better than zero.

So if you're listening to me right now, no matter what age you are,

go put your money in something that will cause it to multiply. That's important.

Don't just sit there and do nothing. You'll never have money if you sit there

and do nothing. So anyway, so those are two things.

Gave my life to Jesus, bought a house, Chad got his own business,

and then we had a Roth IRA account.

And so you don't bury what God gives you, you build with it.

One of the biggest principles in the Bible for money is stewardship of what God gives you.

So many people are holding their hands to heaven saying, God bless me,

God, but he's given you something to work with.

So do something with what he gave you and he will multiply you.

So, and let me just say this to encourage you, and I think I shared this in

my other broadcast, but there is a way also where you do nothing and God just brings you money.

And that also happened to us. It was a miracle, to be honest,

but it didn't come from his job. It didn't come from the ministry.

Came from another source, and it was enough to do all kinds of stuff,

to pay for our road, to take a beautiful trip, all this stuff.

So there is, if you're faithful to God in the little, he'll just do great things for you.

So I don't want you to think, oh my gosh, I'm gonna have to save forever to get wealthy.

I'm telling you, God can do something overnight.

Like, you'll be shocked at what the Lord can do if you just put these principles into action.

All right. So you might be waiting on God to give you more, but if you haven't

done anything with what he gave you, well, then you're in trouble.

And so the story I'm talking about is in Matthew 25, and it said,

He that received five talents came and brought the other talents,

saying, Lord, you delivered me five talents, and I've gained them and five more.

And the Lord said, well done, good and faithful. So sometimes we're sitting

there going, God, I just need you to, and God's like, well, you need to do something.

So I don't know what talent you have. I don't know a gift, but you have to find
12:48
a way to multiply what you have, and God will help you to do it.

So the money principle is that God will bless multiplication,

and he blesses faithfulness with increase. He'll show you the way.

If you only trade hours for dollars, you're always limited by your time.

But when you have assets, investments, property, then money can start working.

So one of the biggest things that broke people don't learn, that wealthy people

do know, is if broke, and let me just tell you something.

I've seen this with my own eyes, and it's sad. I have seen somebody get,

you know, I'll just save $2,000.

That's not the amount, but I'll say $2,000.

$2,000 and they really needed it for bills or whatever, but they got this $2,000

and instead they blew it on everything.

Sunglasses, clothes, hair, makeup, shoes, whatever, and the money was gone.

Okay, that's called dumb.

If you would have taken that money and at least taken even $500 of it and put

it inside of an account, it could be increasing, making money. Do you understand?

So that's important. You should invest in something. Don't sit on the money

and don't blow all the money.

That's not an asset. So wealthy people take money and they find a way to make money.

So for example, let's just say you want a little motorcycle and the motorcycle

cost, the payment's $100 a month.

Wealthy people don't go buy the bike. Wealthy people get a rental property or

something that pays them an extra $200 so the bike is paid for,

if that makes sense. You might be thinking, well, I can't do that yet.

Well, just start right where you are and try something.

So maybe it's a house, a business, a skill, a gift, a ministry,

a talent, I don't know, whatever.

Whatever it is, don't say this isn't enough to make a difference because in

Zechariah 4.10, the Bible says, he who despises or don't despise the day of small things.

A small thing can become a big thing.

God does not bless what you bury. He blesses what you build.

So do something with it. All right.

Godly hack three. Tithe stewardship. Don't waste money on what doesn't matter.

And that's kind of what I said earlier.

Now, I don't want to say don't buy anything, don't do anything.

But I will tell you, there's a lot of stuff we get that we don't need to get.

And that won't help you be wealthy. If you just blow everything you have,

you're not going to be wealthy.

You have to honor God first and manage the rest with wisdom,

like tithing, honor God with the first part, belief for open doors, favor, opportunity.

Malachi 3.10 says, bring the tithe, that's 10% of your money,

into the church, that they'd be meeting my house.

Prove me, says the Lord of hosts, if I'll not open up the windows of heaven

and pour out such a blessing, there's not room enough to receive.

So God said, prove me. He said, test me in this. When you tithe,

you're saying, God, you're my source, not my job. See, the tithe is really a test.

The tithe is to see if you trust money or you trust God. And it's only 10% anyway. It's like nothing.

So I'm a tither because I'm like, look, if you want your job to be your only

source, then don't tithe.

But if you want God to bring you resources from unexpected places,

then you should tithe because I'm just telling you what I did.

And it radically and supernaturally opened the door to blessing in my life.

And so when you tithe, you're showing God, God, I love you, and my job isn't

my source, you are. And then there could be limitless potential.

In Proverbs 22, it says, the rich rules over the poor and the borrower a servant to the lender.

Debt can make you a servant, but wisdom will help you stay free.

And tithing can open the door to turn that thing around. on.

I didn't get here because everything was handed to me.

I didn't get here because I never got heard. I got here because God is faithful.

Now, when I say I'm a millionaire, so I had the house in Vegas.

We sold it. We came here. My husband got a business.

We got a Roth IRA. The other day, I was talking to him about being a millionaire,

and all of a sudden it told me, I'm like, oh my gosh, we are a millionaire because

my home is worth a certain amount of money that's close to a million.

And then we have the Roth IRA. And that coupled together is a million dollars.

Now, I don't have a million dollars to spend in my hand, but I am now a.

I'm believing to grow and increase so that I can do more for more people,

but you could do the same thing.

And I guess what I wanted to share with you in this broadcast,

that if I could do it, a girl from, you know, the hometown of Michigan with

a drunk father who told her she'd never be anything.

Now I have a nice house. I mean, it's not a mansion compared to what other people

around here have, but it's a nice house. We have land. We have acreage.

My daughter's blessed. You know, we're blessed.

And so you can do it, too. And you might be thinking right now,

you don't know where I live. You don't know that I'm in the poorest country of all.

I'm telling you, your environment doesn't matter.

Your job doesn't matter. Your God is who matters.

And I'm telling you in my heart that my God will supply all your needs according

to his riches and glory, and that my God can pull you out of any pit that you find yourself in.

My daddy was not very nice. He was very mean, as a matter of fact.

But my father in heaven is a good dad. And so you might not have a good situation.

Maybe you don't even have a father. But I'm telling you that God can pull you out.

He can make you wealthy. He can make you happy. And He can cause you to bless other people.

So I hope that the story of my life helped you a little bit.

You know, I don't talk about it a lot because, quite honestly,

I'm over it. But I just thought, man, you know, I am a millionaire.

And I grew up with a really abusive dad.

And I don't know, maybe someone out there could hear this and it could bless you.
