- 0:00Here we are, Boat Cycles podcast, been the first one in a
- 0:05while that we've both been on. The last one had a guest
- 0:08feature, Mr. Travis from South Africa, and now you're back.
- 0:15I'm back. You're back.
- 0:16I wasn't in Africa, so I'm back. We'll be there next time.
- 0:20One day. We actually talk about it in the
- 0:22pod that I did out there. Yeah.
- 0:24So it's it's going to happen. Elvis is just, you know, he's
- 0:28not much for privacy. No, you.
- 0:30Know he's grooming. Himself, he's grooming, but the
- 0:36podcast is monetized now, so you're making making some
- 0:39shackles. Yeah, making some big, big
- 0:41buckaroonies. More than two bucks.
- 0:44Yeah, I suppose so, I suppose. So yeah, help and job hunt.
- 0:49Any update on the job hunt for the folks watching or listening
- 0:53on DSPS? No, OK, there was and then and
- 0:58then tariffs kind of messed that up.
- 1:02And Yep. So we're we're back on it.
- 1:05But you know it'll happen when it happens when it needs to
- 1:10happen. Yep.
- 1:11So anyway, anyone who potentially is hiring and needs
- 1:14a talented lady who pokes herself in those all face
- 1:18withdrawals, go and reach out to Brianna.
- 1:20Are you going to apply for fun employment?
- 1:23I don't know. You might as well.
- 1:25You paid. Next to no money, but you paid.
- 1:28I paid into it, of course. What do you think?
- 1:30Funny. What do you mean?
- 1:33So anyways, yeah, where to start?
- 1:40Obviously went to Africa, you weren't able to come.
- 1:43We did pod after it, but not at all really about it.
- 1:46We're kind of talking about other stuff.
- 1:48And then we had not very long about a week flew off to
- 1:53Oklahoma for the first stop of the year as well as our first
- 1:58stop of total Archery Challenge. And this is my sixth year going.
- 2:04So I've gone since 2019, so 6 years and actually have filmed
- 2:09all six years, you know, cuz we had the channel had started in
- 2:132018. So we're filming in 19.
- 2:18What is give me, give me kind of your SparkNotes, the Cliff
- 2:22Notes, the review, the summary, if you will, of the journey to
- 2:28Oklahoma, if. I have to sneeze first.
- 2:31Hold on. Great, great tack.
- 2:36It is one I would for sure do again and I highly recommend
- 2:41that other people do, especially if you haven't done one before.
- 2:45I wouldn't, you know, necessarily say maybe jumping
- 2:47straight into like the more difficult bigger locations like
- 2:51Utah or more mountainous like Montana or Colorado are the, you
- 2:57know, maybe the best way to intro yourself into tack.
- 3:03So courses in what we're in relativity to what we're used to
- 3:08a bit easier as far as. He's so cozy.
- 3:14They were still tough, though. They were definitely tough.
- 3:17They definitely utilize I think the the window shots and the
- 3:21technical ones more here, which are my preferred Alice, you're
- 3:28ridiculous. My preferred favorite shots.
- 3:32So I think there was a lot of fun, you know, technical in the
- 3:36window between the trees, real sliver shots right over that
- 3:42log, things like that. So and then there's a variety
- 3:46still. There's so many courses there
- 3:48for where it's at. And I love the way they put the
- 3:52venue like right on the edge of the water for the vendor village
- 3:56and they really pack them all in there.
- 3:58So, you know, not only could you, you know, mingle with
- 4:02people because it's so tight, but the vendors could, you know,
- 4:07they could pop over to each other's and what not.
- 4:12And they had because it's not at like a resort.
- 4:15So they don't have, you know, a ballroom or a restaurant or
- 4:20something to do like their evening things in.
- 4:23So they did a concert one evening and I thought that was
- 4:26super cool. The Swan Brothers.
- 4:30Swan Boys. Swan Brothers.
- 4:32It was something like that, yeah, I saw it on.
- 4:34The flyer who were on The Voice, they were joking about Blake
- 4:37Shelton at the You are a ridiculous dog.
- 4:43He's like and just getting getting loved and pampered
- 4:46because we just picked him up. Yeah, yeah, he had a groom.
- 4:48So he, he was at daycare, he got groomed and now we picked him
- 4:52up. So he's very, he's very, you
- 4:56know, loving love and pets. And he's just a good, nice
- 5:01little boy. Yeah.
- 5:03So anyways, I thought it was phenomenal and the town itself
- 5:06that it's in. First off, this town names
- 5:08everything after. Porking.
- 5:11Porking. Yeah, everything.
- 5:13Literally everything. Girls Gone Wine.
- 5:16Can you think of a couple? Creamy Weiner was one of the hot
- 5:20dog options. I think I had.
- 5:22I think. I think.
- 5:22You have the creamy Weiner I did.
- 5:25Yeah, I think I did. I can't even think of half of
- 5:29them now. Yeah, there was a bunch, but
- 5:31yeah, I mean, I. But the town is amazing, so much
- 5:34to do there and for families like a camp if you wanted to, or
- 5:40you can get an Airbnb, which are great prices.
- 5:43Yeah, compared to some other locations we've been to.
- 5:47And you basically get like a little mini mansion, log cabin,
- 5:50but fully like remodeled on the inside for most of them.
- 5:54Now a lot of them have like kids playgrounds at them and whatnot.
- 5:58So if the family stays behind during a, you know, a shoot day,
- 6:03they could, you know, literally hang out the air at B&B and have
- 6:05lots to do. Or there's bowling in town,
- 6:08there's petting zoos in town. Like there's just so much to do
- 6:12there. Surprisingly, for being in the
- 6:15middle of nowhere, I'd say the only downfall was the fact that
- 6:19the closest airport is like a three hour drive in.
- 6:24So unless you're one of the local surrounding States and you
- 6:26take the drive in the fly in, you're still going to have a
- 6:30rental car. You can't like Airbnb to a
- 6:33resort and then stay at the resort and walk over to, you
- 6:36know, your ski lifts because there are no ski lifts.
- 6:38So that's the only downside to it.
- 6:40But that should not deter, I think anybody from going because
- 6:44it's such a good one. So overall, excellent first tack
- 6:48of the year. I'm very glad that we chose to
- 6:50go to that one this year. And now it's on to to Tennessee
- 6:56in two weeks, 2 1/2 I think. I thought you said 1 1/2.
- 7:01Yeah, I think I had the dates wrong.
- 7:02I. Think it's two.
- 7:03OK, well, two weeks. Yeah, I.
- 7:04Think, yeah, so ready for that one, too.
- 7:07Brittany will be at that one. And we're kind of going to get
- 7:10to go off and do our own thing while the the boys mingle.
- 7:15And so that should be fun. So yeah, I'm I'm ready to move
- 7:20on to the next tack. And yeah, what what was your
- 7:23take on it? That's going to conclude this
- 7:26podcast. I'm kidding.
- 7:31I'm kidding. No, I mean, I I agree.
- 7:35I think the town was excellent. I think the venue was excellent.
- 7:39I think the vibes were super high.
- 7:42I think the weather was, I mean, almost as good as it could get.
- 7:48It was awesome. I think one of the things we
- 7:51should talk about, just because it ended up being kind of a
- 7:53funny little part of the trip, was The Bachelorette party.
- 7:58Oh, geez, Martha. Yeah.
- 7:59You can't keep James away from a Bachelorette party.
- 8:02If he sees one, it's like, you know, a plus and minus magnet,
- 8:07positive and negative. He's just drawn to it.
- 8:09You can't stop them. They're gonna link up.
- 8:12And they did. Oh yeah.
- 8:13And then, yeah. So anyway, I go over there, I'm,
- 8:16I'm intrigued because the bride has a cast on, right?
- 8:19Kind of a soft cast. But nonetheless, I go over there
- 8:22and I, I, you know, ask about the cast.
- 8:26The next thing you know, I'm chit chatting with all of them.
- 8:28And then you get roped into hearing one's entire life story.
- 8:33And people at the bar just love the rest.
- 8:37The restaurant that like, because there was a lot of
- 8:39people from from tac there at the place.
- 8:42So everyone's kind of watching all this like chaos play out.
- 8:45And it was just a lot of fun, a lot of fun.
- 8:47And then, yeah, we were shooting early in the morning primarily,
- 8:52which was nice. You kind of beat the wind in the
- 8:56morning, which is very nice. And then we did make it over to
- 9:00the island on our last day. Our last course that we shot
- 9:03took the boat over there at 10, which was really cool.
- 9:06It was very windy if you were on certain sides of the slope, but
- 9:10luckily a lot of the course was on the on the non windy sides.
- 9:14That was that was nice. Yeah.
- 9:16But overall I thought it was really good.
- 9:18Got to interact with a ton of fans and just supporters of the
- 9:22channel and, and believe it or not, the podcast.
- 9:25I heard a lot of people come up to me say they really like the
- 9:28podcast. One guy in particular was like,
- 9:30yeah, I'm a cop and I work nights and I always toss on the
- 9:33podcast and listen to my car and, you know, several people
- 9:36said stuff like that. So I thought that was cool.
- 9:39Kind of surprised me. And yeah, just excited for the
- 9:44next couple of stops. Tennessee will be great,
- 9:51Pennsylvania will be great. And yeah, just overall, it's
- 9:55going to be a lot of fun. I I would say you shot well.
- 10:01What? I think I shot pretty well.
- 10:05Really. Well, I just did the video.
- 10:07That was the that was the first day, and that's only half of
- 10:10the. Yeah, but you, you got second
- 10:13that day, remember overall. I did, I did, and then I vastly
- 10:17fell off the bandwagon the next. I don't.
- 10:20Really think you were all that bad to be honest with you but I
- 10:25do think our videos from this will be quite good.
- 10:30We did, I believe what's going to turn out to be 7 videos just.
- 10:34Some great new new concepts. Yeah, a lot.
- 10:37Every video is conceptual. Basically every single one.
- 10:40I don't think 1 was just like a regular video.
- 10:43They all had kind of ideas baked into them and this first one
- 10:47that when you're watching this podcast is actually out right
- 10:50now. If you're catching the podcast
- 10:531st and you're going to go watch it, make sure you have a couple
- 10:56of lollipops with you when it starts because it's a, it's a
- 11:02fan interaction video. I'm calling it a ride along.
- 11:06Shoot along is maybe even better.
- 11:09Should I switch it to shoot along from ride along that kind
- 11:14of like that? They'll ride motorbikes, yeah.
- 11:17Shoot along, shoot along with Boat Disciples.
- 11:21That's a fun name. I probably will switch it.
- 11:24And we just worked on the thumbnail or we're about to work
- 11:27on the thumbnail videos uploading right now.
- 11:31So yeah, it's fun. Very.
- 11:36Yeah, we could stop using that word, you know, like 2 weeks
- 11:39ago. Not a fan.
- 11:41I'm not a fan at all. I've heard it enough.
- 11:44So anyways, we had a smaller group though this tech than our
- 11:47usual plus size group, which I kind of liked in the way it
- 11:51definitely made shooting through courses a lot faster.
- 11:56Does make you kind of want to go out, which I thought was good
- 11:58because it made us go explore more this time around.
- 12:01So we went and we hung out with people at, you know, the, the
- 12:06restaurant or distillery or brewery or whatever.
- 12:09We went, you know, but if you have the bigger groups, there's
- 12:13so many Airbnbs and there's so much that they have.
- 12:16And like, we looked at one that had a shuffleboard.
- 12:19Ours had a mini pool table, which we never ironically even.
- 12:22Yeah, that's. A bummer, but we did.
- 12:23We definitely used a hot tub. I mean, I think every day except
- 12:27for one, we used a hot tub and yeah, we tried a fairly good
- 12:34amount of the restaurants and options.
- 12:39Bow was great. I switched back to the proven 34
- 12:42for this one from the Virtue. So feel good.
- 12:47That's the bow I'm going to be bringing to Tennessee and
- 12:50Pennsylvania as I believe is what I'm going to be running.
- 12:53And yeah, it was just fun. What a whole, whole lot of fun.
- 12:58The only really mistake that I had shooting wise was shooting
- 13:04back-to-back targets 10 yards shy on the tape and which I.
- 13:08Don't know if I've ever seen you do.
- 13:10Well, here's what happened. So they happen to be the same
- 13:13distance, right? So I shot the first one for the
- 13:19first one was 49 yards and I put it to 49 shot is so dark because
- 13:26it was early didn't know I just knew I missed but I don't know
- 13:29where and then next target come to it, it's 49 again.
- 13:33So I didn't move the tape shot it again, missed.
- 13:37Scott goes, buddy, something's wrong with your belt.
- 13:39There's no way you missed two shots back-to-back he goes,
- 13:41shoot another one. So I reload another arrow, draw
- 13:44back. I look at my rest, look at all
- 13:45my stuff. I go looks good If it fits at
- 13:48chips, put the pin on there. I group it right with my other
- 13:50arrow in the dirt underneath. I think that HLR might have even
- 13:55broke. And then I look at my tape and I
- 13:59go out. I had it at 39, so I shot.
- 14:04I shot for 39 yards, three shots in a row on targets over 49.
- 14:09And then other than that the whole weekend only had one miss
- 14:12and it was 1 Where I hit a branch midway you could hear it
- 14:15tink and then it went like steep fell off the.
- 14:18Swan dive down to the dirt. Yeah, I did a swan dive and
- 14:21never recovered that HLR either. So actually for me is more
- 14:25arrows lost than normal at attack with three.
- 14:28But two of them are goofy, you know what I mean?
- 14:31And then one was just like, you know, you never know, you can
- 14:34always clip a branch like that, especially when shots are
- 14:36windows or whatever. It's not that I didn't see it.
- 14:39The trajectory was just happened to be wrong by just a tiny
- 14:44little bit. Yeah.
- 14:45And then I think you only lost. So I I I broke or lost 3HL R and
- 14:50you lost what 4 vaps? I think so.
- 14:53It's so bad. Yeah, not bad.
- 14:56You did smoke a lot of trees. Though, well, a lot of arrows
- 14:59survived that, you know, probably should have.
- 15:02But the VAP is durable apparently.
- 15:04It's durable if you, you know, only put it about 1/2 inch into
- 15:08a tree. Yeah.
- 15:08You weren't getting when I hit the ground.
- 15:10They didn't survive. You were not getting much pen in
- 15:13those trees. No, no, you could walk by and
- 15:16like like this and it would just fall right out of the tree.
- 15:20You were getting like half the tip of pen.
- 15:22Yeah, yeah. But there are quite a few trees
- 15:25that saved me that it was like, I mean by the grace of God, it
- 15:31landed into this like. Stick, you did that tree.
- 15:34That's like this. Why you?
- 15:35Did that like at least three times in those tiny trees.
- 15:39Yeah, I don't. I don't know how but it was like
- 15:42it just wanted me to save my arrows.
- 15:44And actually, Matt did that once too, the day we did the One
- 15:46Arrow challenge. That would have sailed as it
- 15:49was. Oh yeah, He would have been done
- 15:50on like target three. He got so lucky and that was a
- 15:55fun day too. Well, I guess that was the
- 16:01second day we shot with him, but we ended up linking up and
- 16:04shooting with Ethan Burnham. I think it's Burnham, or might
- 16:08be Burnham, his last name. But we shot with them.
- 16:12Three courses. Yes, three courses.
- 16:16Because he shot with us our last day in the morning and then
- 16:19bailed. But the day before, didn't we
- 16:21shoot together twice or maybe just one?
- 16:23No, maybe just once. So we shot together.
- 16:25He's shot the morning course with us.
- 16:27So we shot 2 courses together with Ethan and he was awesome.
- 16:33Really good, Really good shooter.
- 16:35Really good photographer. Very fun vibes, really good
- 16:38photographer. So that was a heck of a lot of
- 16:42fun too. Yes, it was.
- 16:43You know, and I think. That's the only person that
- 16:46linked up with us this trick for shooting.
- 16:49But actually, we almost had another one.
- 16:52My buddy Dylan C Foster was going to come.
- 16:55I don't even think he was going to shoot.
- 16:56He was going to come out to Sick Island with us to shoot photos
- 17:00and he ended up getting caught up in a marathon or something
- 17:03like that and he couldn't get to the boat in time.
- 17:07He. Said he said he didn't see him
- 17:08running. He's well, it wouldn't matter.
- 17:10They were leaving anyways. Like even Matt, they almost left
- 17:13him right there. I was like he's right there.
- 17:14They're like, well, if he doesn't get here, we're leaving.
- 17:15He starts back in the boat up. So he would have left, but I it
- 17:19sounds like a ROM com scene of us leaving him just running down
- 17:23the thing trying to get there because I never saw him.
- 17:26I didn't. Either.
- 17:27You know, but yeah, that was a bummer.
- 17:29But yeah, so only got to link with Ethan, but.
- 17:32Now where have you met him before?
- 17:34Because I don't think I've ever seen him before.
- 17:36Ethan No. Dylan, yeah.
- 17:39Who I met Dylan in Be Honest with you, I think it was Montana
- 17:45Tech last year. I think is where I I met him.
- 17:50I was there. I don't remember that.
- 17:51It was real brief, yeah, but I did meet him.
- 17:54Nice guy, good guy, really good guy.
- 17:58And then Ethan, I had met probably in 2021 or two, maybe
- 18:05at Park City Tech years ago. They.
- 18:09Did it before they moved to solitude.
- 18:12Right. So him and I talked for maybe 5
- 18:16to 10 minutes there and I I remembered it and he did as
- 18:19well. Like, you know, because it's
- 18:20just kind of random, but it was a long time ago and since then
- 18:24we haven't ever like been at the same place at the same time, at
- 18:27least that I'm aware of. So it was a lot of fun to shoot
- 18:30and just overall a very a very good vibe.
- 18:36Now, the other thing I think that we got to dive into on this
- 18:39pod and remember we're kind of keeping this one 4540 minutes.
- 18:43Not going to be the longest pod of all time.
- 18:45Guys, apologize. We've been burning the candle at
- 18:48both ends, baby, but we're getting it done.
- 18:51I want to hear, and I think the audience would like to hear a
- 18:57little bit about your Turkey hunting experience over the past
- 19:00couple of years, you know. Oh, Lord yeah, everybody.
- 19:07I love turkeys. They don't love me.
- 19:11They don't love me. So my Turkey adventures here in
- 19:19California began about two years ago and I started I've and I've
- 19:26shot turkeys before, but I've shot him in, in Florida and with
- 19:30a gun. You know, James here, it's not
- 19:33about the gun life. So not that he doesn't like him,
- 19:36he just always shoots with a bow.
- 19:38So first time I went out about two years ago, it was during the
- 19:42fall season and took a few sits but I eventually shot a bird
- 19:48with my bow. All was good.
- 19:51He flew off but I had broke his wing.
- 19:53How he when we got to him, how he even flew I have no idea but
- 19:58he basically flew up enough to like get some air over a fence
- 20:02and then crash landed in the neighbor's yard.
- 20:06So easy find. Well, so like, I'm going to go
- 20:11back out for spring season, no? I believe, in my personal
- 20:20opinion, I always shoot at the same bird.
- 20:22There's multiple Toms, but I believe it was the same Tom.
- 20:25You know, they're recognizable with their gobble and their
- 20:28beard. Like they all kind of have a
- 20:31little different length and fullness and whatnot to them.
- 20:34I believe it was the same Turkey every time.
- 20:36So three different times I took a stab at this bird.
- 20:40One time we stalked up to it and you were there for this one.
- 20:46That was the first arrow. I launched at it and we got up
- 20:52into these rocks and it was only maybe 20 yards, maybe 25 down to
- 21:01this bird, which ironically, if you watch the video of my Turkey
- 21:05hunt most recently out when I shoot and something happens,
- 21:09those rocks you see behind it is where the bird was in the grass.
- 21:13And I was up on the rocks for this, this time.
- 21:17So I shot I thought I was going to clear underneath the tree and
- 21:20just collect 1 little branch, one tiny little branch that set
- 21:25my arrow off to the dirt. So miss that bird.
- 21:30So in this same season, I go back out, now I'm out with 10,
- 21:36get all amped up and love Ted, love Ted.
- 21:41But he, he really wants to get the footage.
- 21:43You know, like there's no setting the camera up on the
- 21:45tripod and letting it be what it'll be like.
- 21:48He's trying to get over the shoulder, trying to get the
- 21:51zoom. All these birds are in here in
- 21:54the mix and Ted's crawling around on the floor.
- 21:59I mean, crawling on all fours to try to get around behind me.
- 22:04And then he comes up. Ted's 6 foot tall in this blind.
- 22:08He's trying to stand and get the camera behind me.
- 22:12Most people know the size of a blind.
- 22:14It's pretty small when you stand and you're in a draw.
- 22:17And I could stand in this blind. He's like, I mean, I'm pretty
- 22:24sure I'm hitting him with my elbow in the draw.
- 22:27That's how close he was to me. So it was just frantic.
- 22:31I shoot the blind. I shot the blind, took the, I
- 22:36broke the little composite, you know, fiberglass bar right in
- 22:42half. So that was another attempt at
- 22:46the Berg. So then go out again.
- 22:51This time I'm like, I'm not taking, I'm not taking a shot
- 22:54unless he's right there, you know, So they come into the
- 22:58little pasture behind us and we're kind of peeking and
- 23:00looking every once in a while. It's like he's not really coming
- 23:04in. I'm not going to shoot him at 50
- 23:06yards. Well, then he works his way
- 23:10around, not a normal path they would take around or hadn't been
- 23:15around this big pile of downed trees that have been there
- 23:18forever. And all of a sudden he pops out
- 23:21in front of us and just wants to attack the decoy.
- 23:27Something. This is it.
- 23:29This is my time. He's attacking the decoy.
- 23:32I got him now I draw. I feel focused.
- 23:40Boom. I shot right at his over his
- 23:43back. I actually, sorry, I think I
- 23:46shot at this bird twice. I did.
- 23:48So I actually missed four times because the first time I shot
- 23:52and basically I think I might have clipped A toenail.
- 23:55So he kind of runs off and I shoot again and this is when all
- 24:00I got was 1 measly feather off of his back and we're like, oh,
- 24:05maybe I got him enough to this bird walks off, crosses the
- 24:09fence, stops and starts strutting again and got one.
- 24:12I haven't called right afterwards.
- 24:14He just he was perfectly fine. I was like, I'm done.
- 24:20I quit. I am not doing this.
- 24:24So I think I might have went out like one, one time this past
- 24:30fall season and that was it. I don't even know if we saw
- 24:37anything and didn't really hunt it much.
- 24:41So I was like this spring, it's happening, it is happening.
- 24:45I'm getting a bird and you can go watch the video to then see
- 24:51all that happened. The rest of the story?
- 24:53Yeah, and that one's all. That's all on film.
- 24:55And boy, does it, you know, go just as poorly for a while.
- 25:00That's the last two years have gone, but eventually, eventually
- 25:06it it gets it done. I was actually going to see if I
- 25:09think I took it off the broadhead.
- 25:11That just sit right here. Oh, this might be it.
- 25:15No, this is one of mine, I think.
- 25:17But but yeah, I mean it, it was a it was a journey and but yeah,
- 25:22we finally got it, got it done for you.
- 25:25And we actually got a double as well, which is pretty cool, so.
- 25:30It makes my shot look like, you know, child's play in the video.
- 25:35It's very funny because we're making this video because, like,
- 25:38I really want to capture finally getting a Turkey after all of
- 25:44the drama and dilemma that I've gone through over the past two
- 25:48years. And, you know, just like the
- 25:51Javelinas. I'm like, James, you're gonna
- 25:54bring your fellow the first day he comes out, he doesn't bring
- 25:57it. And he doesn't really care about
- 26:00Turkey hunting, whatever. It's like no big deal for him.
- 26:02Meanwhile, the rest of the world like covets turkeys.
- 26:05Why shot a shit load up them? So yeah.
- 26:08So you know. Although the meat was really
- 26:11good, we'll have to get to the meal we made.
- 26:15But so you'll you can again, all of this is in the video.
- 26:19But finally the second day we got there and mine provides an
- 26:25option. Now granted, like mine was
- 26:28walking at a decent pace which like you know.
- 26:33Not a easy shot. Not.
- 26:34Easy. It was downhill, kind of a tough
- 26:36little angle. He was moving and we couldn't
- 26:38really get him to stop. 30 yards is it's not far, but it's not
- 26:43close. For a Turkey especially because
- 26:45they have such like 1. This is what I'm saying.
- 26:47Small vitals 2. There's a lot of feathers
- 26:50dropping that distort where you can believe the vitals to be,
- 26:56especially if they're in like 1/2 strut puffed up, but not,
- 27:00you know, fully strutted fan out, which is even worse,
- 27:03especially if they start dragging their, you know,
- 27:06feathers, their fans or their their wings.
- 27:10So it wasn't an easy shot, but you know, then this one's just
- 27:16like, should I shoot 1 climbs out?
- 27:20And I won't say it 'cause, you know, we want you to go watch
- 27:24the video. And truly the video is what you
- 27:26should watch because it doesn't even do it justice to what then
- 27:29took place. So overall, phenomenal hunt.
- 27:34I will probably go out with Ted sometime in the next couple of
- 27:37weeks. Yeah, and film him getting 1.
- 27:42I don't want to shoot another one until we get Ted a Turkey.
- 27:45Yeah. And yeah, we got, there's a lot
- 27:49to do and not a ton of time, you know, because we got a little
- 27:54break now for a couple of weeks, but I got 9 more videos to edit
- 27:59this podcast. So like, you know, and then
- 28:02more, more podcasts and then so much stuff we're doing for both
- 28:07disciples challenge between, you know, making signs and different
- 28:10types of infrastructure. Simple stuff like learning how
- 28:14to use the card reader, doing an inventory to make sure we know
- 28:17what we have and don't have, promoting the giveaways and the
- 28:21vendors and the food vendors. Like it's going to be a lot, you
- 28:24know, but I think you and Ted, that would be awesome.
- 28:27You guys go Turkey hunting and I can sit here and get these edits
- 28:31done, but I think the podcast, you know, is a good place to
- 28:36leak some of these giveaways. You know, so we have a few.
- 28:41Last year we had a ton, like a ton of giveaways.
- 28:44This year by choice, we're doing less, but they're all group like
- 28:48big good items, right? Just to simplify things, make it
- 28:52a little less messy I guess you could say.
- 28:55Not that it was messy, but just a little.
- 28:57It's just a lot more to track, you know, when when people are
- 29:00putting into so many giveaways and so many to ship out and
- 29:05trying to get a hold of people and.
- 29:07This is just smoother. So we're going to have a diamond
- 29:12edge Max package bow, Really cool bow, great starter bow.
- 29:18You can give it to a kid, you can give it to a woman, you can
- 29:20give it to a dude with a 30 inch straw, 70 lbs to like 15.
- 29:26I think like you can do anything with the diamond and that's
- 29:29really good. And then the other one is the
- 29:32Bowtex solution LS, which is a really good bow.
- 29:36It's got deadlocks, flagship bow, so those are the 2 bows.
- 29:42And then our friends from Ultra View tossed in AUV slider sight
- 29:49again, 3 pin. Yeah, 3 pin with the tack bonus
- 29:52pin, just as they did last year. Bow Tech also did a bow last
- 29:58year and marsupial as well. Is going to be throwing in a
- 30:02bino harness tick. Yep.
- 30:06So that's what we got so far and I'd be very happy if that's all
- 30:10we do. Now if we get some other stuff
- 30:12that's really cool, we may do a few more.
- 30:15But for for just a start, super stoked with what we got and the
- 30:21event is shaping up really good. We got two of the three courses
- 30:25mapped out. We're going to go up, I believe
- 30:27in about I think a week, maybe a little more than a week to map
- 30:30the 3rd and final course. And then you and me are going to
- 30:34go up and do some content and some just course mapping stuff
- 30:37like that within the next couple of days here.
- 30:40So it's definitely Bo Disciples Challenge season promotions
- 30:43about to hit really, really hard for the next month.
- 30:46And yeah, just excited for it. I'm excited for it.
- 30:50But it will be, I think, good for for you to get in a little
- 30:53more Turkey hunting as well. Yeah, I do love Turkey hunting
- 30:56and we've got a lot of meat to still get through.
- 31:00So do you have? Any talk about that meal?
- 31:03A little. Bit yeah, So what If you have
- 31:04any recipes that you've ever done with Wild Turkey, drop the
- 31:10comment below and let me know what it is, because I'm always a
- 31:14fan of trying different. You know you're pretty standard
- 31:17in your white rice and game meat.
- 31:19Rice and meat. Yeah, I like to still like, mix
- 31:24it up as if it weren't wild game because you can do anything.
- 31:28It's like, you know, a Turkey is a Turkey, like a Guinea hen's a
- 31:32Guinea hen. That's still probably, you know,
- 31:33for the most part you do anything you do with chicken.
- 31:38That reminds me, should we talk about the skitman Travis did?
- 31:42About the Yeah, we. Can get to that.
- 31:43Sage Chicken. But so we did a crock pot slow
- 31:51cooker. You could call it a Stew, I
- 31:55guess I prefer Stew is a good word for it.
- 31:59But I prefer like thicker, creamier stews.
- 32:03Not like your watery stuff more on like the chili thickness
- 32:07side. But this was like a white Stew.
- 32:10So you use cream of mushroom with chicken broth and then all
- 32:16your vegetables and the the Turkey.
- 32:21And I do it on low for the entire.
- 32:24Day I thought we did high. We did high because I wanted to
- 32:27make sure it really like was rippable 'cause I know chick or
- 32:30Turkey can really tend to kind of rubberize when it's wild
- 32:34Turkey. Now some people have said some
- 32:36things like soak the Turkey and buttermilk for 24 hours, so that
- 32:42might be something that I try next time.
- 32:44But really looking for some other recipes for turkeys
- 32:47because we've got three more breasts in there and my Turkey
- 32:51was a fatty. So yeah, he was.
- 32:55There's a lot of meat in there to to do something with, so I'd
- 32:58love to try something new. But that was the recipe.
- 33:00It was great. We did it with.
- 33:01It's really good. Not pancakes, biscuits.
- 33:05Now James has never done this before.
- 33:08I think it's very normal. I will usually what I make a
- 33:12Stew, I will either put it on top of like mashed potatoes or
- 33:18biscuits or like chicken and dumplings where you make your
- 33:24your Stew and then you do your dumplings raw on top and let
- 33:30them steam and then you you have chicken and dumplings.
- 33:33I have just never had a Stew where it doesn't have a grain
- 33:39substance with it. Even even chili like I would
- 33:45make cornbread with the chili. I don't, I don't understand.
- 33:49I've never had that before. But anyway, so I did it with
- 33:52biscuits, but looking for new recipes.
- 33:54So that was that. It was delicious and it was
- 33:57really good. Gotta maybe I'll make my my pot
- 34:01pies one day with some of it. Who knows.
- 34:04But if you have a new recipe, I'd rather try that.
- 34:07So yeah, maybe we'll make a recipe book one day down the
- 34:11line with all the different different types of things.
- 34:14But yeah, talk about your. I thought it was really good.
- 34:16Your your skit. Skit was pretty funny.
- 34:19So it was like, the reason I thought of it was just because
- 34:21it's kind of cooking themed. But basically I, we're on the
- 34:24safari and I was trying to get this joke off and I couldn't, It
- 34:30was a train wreck. I was laughing so hard trying to
- 34:33tell the joke that it was like pandemonium.
- 34:36I finally get the joke out. Basically it's that you know,
- 34:39how you cook a carp is like you butter it up and do all your
- 34:43seasoning on a board and then you cook carp and then you throw
- 34:47the carp away and eat the board. So.
- 34:48Did you hear this joke from them?
- 34:50No, from the joke I had it from like Ted told me this when I was
- 34:53like 10 or something and I thought it was so funny.
- 34:56And then and then he go, I go look like a animal that y'all
- 35:01have and they have these, these are the like big old, they look
- 35:06like a bowling ball. This bird, I can't remember the
- 35:09name of it. I'd have to watch the the the
- 35:12skit. But basically we do the entire
- 35:15Guinea, Guinea, Guinea Guinea fowl.
- 35:17So what it is? Guinea Hen.
- 35:18Guinea Hen. OK, so anyway, we cook the whole
- 35:21thing, We do the slow motion montage, we got the saxophone
- 35:24play, and I freaking at one point chicken gets spanked.
- 35:28It's like it looks amazing, right?
- 35:30The spanking is quite possibly the wildest part of the whole
- 35:35thing. We got it.
- 35:36Surprised you guys didn't start like massaging its thighs.
- 35:39You got it oiled and buttered up and like, and then at the end,
- 35:44you know, he, he like bringing the tray over and you see me
- 35:47like ready to eat right? And then it just last minute
- 35:51turns and goes straight in the trash, man.
- 35:55And then the punchline is that, you know, you eat the board,
- 35:58right? And it was like.
- 36:00I don't know if anybody got that from it, but it was funny.
- 36:04I thought it was because when you told me the carp joke, I was
- 36:08like, you don't think it? Slaps that hard, huh?
- 36:13That early. See, I think it's such a banger
- 36:16joke but but. I'm gonna.
- 36:18Here's my question. We can maybe end with this.
- 36:21I don't. Know.
- 36:21Yeah, yeah, let's do a question. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:24Knowing you, yeah. And I know you.
- 36:28I. Already know the question, yeah.
- 36:32Did you retrieve the chicken from the garbage after filming
- 36:39and proceed to eat it? Well, let me tell you.
- 36:42So there is a little back story production, so I would.
- 36:44Like to hope you cleaned it and put a fresh bag?
- 36:47This is what we did. So we pulled the trash out.
- 36:49We got a fresh trash bag, put it in the trash can, threw the bird
- 36:53away, pulled it out and then ate the bird.
- 36:56And actually what let me tell you, here's actually the
- 36:59funniest part about it that you don't get in the skit is like we
- 37:02put no effort into making the bird good.
- 37:05Like we're literally just like throwing seasoning prosthetics
- 37:08and like different. We did not try at all to make
- 37:11the. Sauce is where he put on.
- 37:13But I shit you not, the bird ended up being delicious, which
- 37:16is even funnier. Now, was it a scented garbage
- 37:20bag? Like when you went to eat, you
- 37:22taste a little bit. No, no, that would have been
- 37:25funny, but I don't think it was. So anyway, that's good.
- 37:27It is a good skit. I've really been enjoying doing
- 37:29skits. Just put one out with Paige,
- 37:32like today. Yeah, today, Tuesday.
- 37:36And I have at least one more with her and Elliot in the pipe.
- 37:41Maybe even. I think I have one with me and
- 37:43Elliot ourselves and one with me, Paige and Elliot left to do
- 37:49and I had thought I accidentally deleted them which I was bummed.
- 37:53Because those were. They're funny they're funny
- 37:56yeah, so thank goodness I didn't but but yeah anyway, it's been a
- 38:01pleasure. Thank you for doing the pod.
- 38:03Thanks for being just an absolute gem and everyone be
- 38:06sure to subscribe to the podcast and the main channel.
- 38:10We're about to hit 100,000 Subs and we are planning to do
- 38:13100,000 subscriber party We'll which we will hit by boat
- 38:19disciples challenge 3 for sure. But we're going to do the party
- 38:23likely in June, a separate thing where you can just meet up at a
- 38:26public location and have a good time, so.
- 38:31And I would say that's open to the public, right?
- 38:33So. You're within a local 3 hour
- 38:35driving distance. You don't feel you want to make
- 38:37the trip. Have a couple.
- 38:38Pops, the more the merrier. Yep, absolutely.
- 38:41So that's what we got going and we will see you guys in the next
- 38:45pod next Wednesday. Yes.
- 38:50Thank you. Thank you very much.
