- 0:28Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. Oh, look at him on the money
- 0:32with that one. So today we are talking about
- 0:35our addiction to chaos. And I know this is going to be a
- 0:39hard conversation for some people to listen to and admit
- 0:43that they have this problem, but some people are addicted to
- 0:47chaos. So what does that look like?
- 0:49What do I mean when I say that? Well, if you know, let's say you
- 0:54have a household and that household is chaotic every
- 0:57single morning. You wake up and it's just hell
- 1:00getting your kids out the door and you just can't find your
- 1:04keys and the dogs are annoying you.
- 1:08The kids can't get their stuff together.
- 1:12You know this is this and this is a regular occurrence.
- 1:14Now this is not a one off, this is a regular occurrence because
- 1:16we all have these one off chaotic days, right?
- 1:20But I'm talking about this being a regular occurrence for you.
- 1:25There is a great chance. That this chaos has become part
- 1:29of a pattern, which is a pattern of addiction to having it
- 1:34happen. And we get something from it,
- 1:37because if we hang on to things, we get something from them.
- 1:40And that could be the story we get to tell about it, how
- 1:43terrible our mornings are. It could be the.
- 1:46Feeling that we get from it of being able to go to our partners
- 1:50and complain that Oh my gosh, you're not doing enough and you
- 1:54don't understand how crazy it is and I can't do this all by
- 1:56myself, blah blah blah. There is an addiction to that
- 2:00and we need to stop the madness because the chaos is real and it
- 2:07is put out there all around us all the time if you're taking a
- 2:11news. You know how chaotic it is.
- 2:13I mean, if if you've been a human being and been alive over
- 2:16the last three years, you understand the craziness that
- 2:21has been put upon us, whether you know you believe it
- 2:25politically, you don't believe it politically.
- 2:27Whatever it is, the chaos that has been thrown our way through
- 2:31the pandemic, through just hearing about Monkey Pox,
- 2:35whatever it might be. Everything has been so amped up,
- 2:40so high level and so chaotic that we have become desensitized
- 2:47to even recognizing it in ourselves.
- 2:49And if we jump back to the example I was using about your
- 2:52own house in the morning and the chaos that you experience, if
- 2:58that's happening for you on some level, you have to look and say,
- 3:01wait, I'm in control. It's my house.
- 3:03It's your house. It's your morning.
- 3:06And I'm letting this happen now. I can assure you, if there's one
- 3:10thing that I am rigid about, it's my non chaotic mornings
- 3:15because it sets the tone for the day.
- 3:18If you can get a handle on the mornings, you have a better
- 3:21chance of managing the chaos throughout your day.
- 3:24It's just a benchmark. If you go into it in the right
- 3:27mindset, you're going to be able to come through it with the
- 3:30right mindset. But you've got to.
- 3:32Start at the beginning. You got to start and look at
- 3:35your morning and say, OK, am I creating this chaos as a habit?
- 3:41Have I become addicted to it? Have I just been allowing it?
- 3:44Have I been ditching the the information giving to me because
- 3:48I don't want to deal with it? So what's so important is for
- 3:52you to look at the whole morning as a baseline and say where is
- 3:57it coming from, what's happening?
- 4:00Where? Where are the downfalls?
- 4:01Where are the things that that are my glitches?
- 4:04Where are the things that give me issues?
- 4:07And I don't care if it's small, tiny things like in my world, if
- 4:12we don't have the, you know, dishwashers turned on the night
- 4:16before, or at least set on so that it will wash overnight,
- 4:20then you wake up in the morning. You don't.
- 4:22You have dirty dishes. You don't have enough of what
- 4:24you need. You don't have enough
- 4:25silverware. You don't have somebody's
- 4:27favorite cup. That causes chaos.
- 4:29That's something that can start the downhill slide immediately.
- 4:34So the prep work for a great morning does start the night
- 4:39before. So you have to look and see, OK,
- 4:43where, well, where are my hiccups?
- 4:44Because if you don't look at where the problems are from a
- 4:47very neutral standpoint, And what do I mean by that?
- 4:52If you're in the heat of the moment, it's very hard.
- 4:55To discern what has to happen because you'll just start
- 4:57blaming other people. But if you sit down today when
- 5:00you were in a very non immediate emotional state about it, let's
- 5:06say you're outside your house and you're thinking about, OK,
- 5:08let me let me go through a normal morning Now you're not in
- 5:11the chaos right now. So you can actually think about
- 5:13the chaos and come back with a pretty solid, definitive line of
- 5:18how it works in your morning, and you can lay it out and say
- 5:22without emotion being triggered. That's the way to look at it and
- 5:26then figure out where can I take these these hiccups and get rid
- 5:30of them. You know, I want, I want them
- 5:32gone. I don't want to have this chaos
- 5:34be part of my life anymore, but it has to start somewhere and
- 5:38that benchmark is you identifying it.
- 5:40So my suggestion would be that today when you were in a neutral
- 5:45place when you are non emotional.
- 5:48Start thinking about your chaos. Start thinking about, and it
- 5:51might be that you know, as you're going through this,
- 5:52you're like, it's not really my mornings, it's my evenings.
- 5:55It's when I come home, or it might be when I get to the
- 5:57office. That's when all hell breaks
- 5:58loose. Sure, this is, this can happen
- 6:01anywhere, but typically it all starts in the morning, waking up
- 6:06late, not having the clothes you wanted.
- 6:09Somebody can't find a shoe and it sets the tone of the entire
- 6:14day. Sometimes it sets the tone for
- 6:15the entire week. So I challenge you today to take
- 6:20that on, look at it, see if you can figure out those pieces and
- 6:25then set yourself up to win. I will talk to you tomorrow.
- 6:29Bye.
