[upbeat rock music] You could feel a little sick. [singing] [laughs] Hey, everybody.
• 0:17
It's Full Spectrum Cycling. Oh. This is show number 203, by my count. 2-0-3. May not be correct, but that's what we're going with. And we're in the, uh, white room with black curtain studio here at- [laughs]...
• 0:31
Everyday Cycles. It's JK. Hello, everyone. And- I love you... and Tony. I wasn't sure Tony was gonna make it today. I wasn't planning on being here- Tony's here... but my- Tony's here, though...
• 0:43
daughter has to be picked up early. Tony, you're, you're, yeah. And this is, like, three weeks in a row- You're, you're doing the thing, like, "Oh, I'm here. Am I not here?" Three weeks in a row I've, like- Yeah...
• 0:51
pulled this shit. Yeah, you're, "I'm, I'm coming. I'm not coming. I'm gonna be there." Well, I'll do my bestest. No. Next time I, I- Oh, you just are just a flirt Thanks for being here.
• 1:00
You're a damn flirt, is what you is. I am a damn... I'm, I'm, I'm a flirt. You're a flirt. [laughs] You know, my bike ride's a lot longer home, 'cause I keep forgetting. Forgetting what? I go to the old house first.
• 1:12
[laughs] Oh. I'm like, "Oh, shit. I'm not here." And I keep going. [laughs] How's the new house coming along, Tony? Uh, slow. Slow but moving forward? Yeah. I do- You can take a shower in the place now? I- yeah.
• 1:24
Oh, yeah, yeah. We, we are fully in the house, we just gotta finish getting the old house empty and cleaning it for the next... to, for Dan, who we've serviced his bike a few times.
• 1:35
Can I still, can I still pee underneath the thing in case the bathroom isn't working? Pee under... What are you talking about? I don't know what you're talking about, but no. No. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
• 1:49
I didn't ask you to- It'll be fine... pee anywhere. Yes, in the backyard. Oh, well, that was fine. Yeah. Yes. Everyone- I wanna pee- During the River West 24, if you gotta pee- I wanna pee in your backyard, Tony...
• 1:59
yeah, yeah. I mean- During the River West 24, all rules are off. If you have to pee in my backyard- Well, no, it's not during... you pee. When in doubt, whip it out. You gotta- I am just saying in not- It's a bike race.
• 2:09
Yo. Oh, no, I'm not even saying during the bike race. I'm saying off the bike race. Oh. No, then you can't do that. Yes. No. No, it was right there. All my urine is stored there. Mm-hmm.
• 2:21
Speaking of storing urine- [laughs]... in the River West 24, uh, D- you know Dan Dahl, River West 24 participant. Yes. Mm-hmm. That's normally where I store beer. And the whole- Store beer... and the whole family...
• 2:33
water... the Dahl, the Dahl family- The Dahl family... does do the 24. The Dan and the Stacy and the- Uh, Dan's band Astral Hand has a, an album out now. Oh, sweet. Nice. Oh, I didn't realize he was part of that. What?
• 2:44
I listened to the- Bring that shit on, man... I listened to it before the show. It's, it's, uh, there's a link in the show notes. It's- Sweet... like psychedelic space rock. Fuck yeah. Yeah. It's interesting.
• 2:52
I did not, I, I didn't know Dan was part of that. Dan makes the Bangin' of the Skins, I believe. Very fucking awesome. I would like to- Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome... hear the Bangin' of the Skins by Dan... yeah.
• 3:01
We'll have to talk to him. Maybe we can get him on the show and he can- Dan... throw us a, throw us a song to throw at the end of the show. Come on the show. Uh- Or I'll just buy the album and put it on there.
• 3:11
That's what I did with- If you'll allow us... it's on- Him, him, him, hi- him or his dad is, like, about four blocks away from here. We're just like- I think Dan moved to a new place... knock, knock, knock, knock, knock.
• 3:21
Oh, yeah... hey, come here. [laughs] Yeah. Dan's, Dan's dad right down the street on- No shit... Humboldt. Yeah. Speaking of Humboldt now, got a segue to Humboldt over there.
• 3:29
Holy, I don't know what's going on on that street right now. Well, it's the what? Work in progress. Generational upgrade? Yeah, but- Is that what they call it? They- But it's kind of a nightmare.
• 3:38
So they're moving everything to the east lane. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa Yep. But already half of the dividers are already mowed down. [laughs] Well, those are people... I mean, that's Milwaukee.
• 3:49
What do you expect? Ay caramba. People drive like idiots, so. Well, so it's gonna be done this year, though. Supposedly. Should be done in time for the 24? Supposedly. Or nah? Both lanes? I don't know. Both sides? Maybe.
• 4:00
Maybe? I don't know. By the end. That would be nice. Calendar year? Sure. By the calendar year maybe, but yeah, for sure. Yeah. Ish. But yeah, I, I think [bell ringing] Bang, bangity, bang. [laughs] Top of the hill.
• 4:13
And we got to the top of the hill quickly today. Yep. Mm. Zombie Ice. I think, I think, uh, Tony and, and- I had some good ice... JK have already ridden up and down a few hills today.
• 4:21
[laughs] Just making sure everyone's- No, I've only had a couple, but I haven't- Well, no, I, I, I threatened you guys with this earlier, and then I saw it available and... Oh.
• 4:33
Ano- another Three Floyds that has an excellent label. Ah, 8.5 on the Alcahoosey. Yes, it's a big boy. Yeah. It's, uh- It's a big boy... it is Zombie Ice. Zombie Ice. It's the big brother of Zombie Dust. Yeah.
• 4:49
It's- I get a very-... very, very drinkable, which is what scares me... yeah, I get a very caramely thing right off the bat. It's like, whammo. It's nice and- Yeah... citra hoppy the hell out of the hops, I think.
• 5:00
This is gonna make you feel really bad tomorrow. Undead- Mm... Undead Double Pale Ale. Undead Double Pale Ale. Yeah. That, yeah. I'm gonna have one of these, and that's it. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. More for me then. Yep.
• 5:12
You are welcome to that because- I want my headache. Yep. What? [laughs] So, so you can w- watch Mandalorian tomorrow? I'm still- I already watched... pulling off the roof tonight. I already watched it.
• 5:25
I grudge fucked it. The first one? The first- First two. Oh, is the second one out now? Yep, yep, yep, yep. Well- Nobody can spoil it for me. [laughs] I have to catch it tomorrow. But the- No...
• 5:35
the first one- There's nothing to spoil. It's still a goddamn fucking gaming tutorial. This is what you do. This is what you do when you play a game. This is what you do when you look and you look at a map.
• 5:50
I shit you not. It... Somebody tell me wrong. Uh, well, the first episode of the third season was just kind of rehashing everything that's already happened and- Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah... so. But saying, but- Yeah...
• 6:05
but acting like a tutorial of a video game. I'm waiting for it to get better. Ba, ba, ba. No, and then in the middle of the goddamn fucking second episode This is where you look at the map and then you look over here.
• 6:18
I'm like, "Fuck you." Dude, [laughs] are you kidding me? You're- Mm. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Have you ever played a video game- No... on, uh, ever anything? No. Ever? Get the H outta here.
• 6:33
I played Atari. That's a video game. Yeah. Well, sort of, yes. Speaking of Atari- Okay... I think we have an Atari out in the hallway there. Really? From when I started? Okay, Adventure. No... Adventure.
• 6:43
You take the block, the block, and then you take the thing and then you bang the thing to get through the goddamn door. Mm. Never heard of it. All right. It's a kids show here today. Gosh, interesting.
• 6:55
[laughs] Y'all motherfucking see Jesus. It's a child show. I think, uh, Schlabowski's gonna call in in a few minutes, Sealy Dave. But, uh, before he call- Of course not... before he calls in. All right.
• 7:09
Do you remember just about a week or two ago how I was wondering if Trek is going to keep making fat bikes or they're just gonna whore out the ones they got left? Yeah. Yeah, last week. Guess what?
• 7:19
They're making fat bikes? They're making a new fat bike. See? It's actually- They probably listened to you. Yeah. Well, thank God someone does. Oh, is the new- I'm kidding. They weren't listening to you.
• 7:27
They're not making fun of Chris Farley this time? No, it's still a Farley, but it's, it's rede- redesigned, more of a- Renamed it, rebranded? Is it carpet fiber? It's st- no.
• 7:36
The, what, the carpet fiber one stays the same because- Okay. A- aluminum? It's an aluminum bike packing expedition focused- Hell, are you? [laughs] You gotta check the picture out of the winter edition.
• 7:46
It's really cool. So it's more of a, a, a bike- A useful-... packing-... a useful bike... fat bike than a- Yeah... er. Okay. I think it's more- That's cool... yeah, which in- All right... you know.
• 7:56
You know, I guess that's okay... which in, in some of our areas here- All right. Okay... could make it a four-season good bike. Okay. Speaking of, uh- Yeah, speaking of... speaking of, I, I gotta push- Okay.
• 8:04
Can I take a moment of pause? Push the button. Um. Shh. Oh, I'm just saying, just to give- Push the button... guidance to the fucking women. It's National Women's Day, International Women's Day. That is true. It is true.
• 8:17
And- The fucking women, that's how you're gonna go into that one? Yeah, that's right. Yeah. That is how he went into that one. [laughs] Well, I guess...
• 8:22
[laughs] Well, hey, man, the reason we're here is from fucking women, so. Ooh. Ta-da. Oh. Oh. Oh, man. That's true. That's how you wanna go [laughs] into Women's Day. Well, w- no women listen to this show.
• 8:32
Well, Wendy listens to this show. She was lau- laughing last week. Not fucking... Uh, blah. Anyway, I feel what you're saying. God. Jesus. I... It's how, it's how you emphasize things. Hi, Wendy. All right.
• 8:43
I'm pushing the button. You guys are getting off- What?... track here. Welcome to the radio program, caller. Who do we have on the line? Don't be a drag. [laughs] Hey guys, it's Sealy Dave. Sealy Dave. Sealy Dave.
• 8:54
Resuscitate me. [laughs] Hey, Sealy Dave. [laughs] How you doing today? Hey. I'm doing well. Doing well. How are you guys doing? Uh, we're doing well. We just, uh, just sort of introduced the idea of the new Trek,
• 9:09
i- uh, uh, the new fat bike, which- No, I listened last week. You, I listened last week. You guys said they're getting out of the market, it's going away. I, I did, I was sort of saying more like- [laughs]...
• 9:19
we hadn't really heard anything to say they weren't just gonna sell out the remaining stock. But then guess what? This week we did. Did you know this before?
• 9:26
Right, like, I literally think it was the day after that they released it. [laughs] Well, they l- They were listening, Greg... they obviously listen to the show because they whipped that one up in a hurry.
• 9:34
All these literally names. Er. Maybe you prompted them, yeah. Yeah. I, I think it was that Farley thing you said that- We have more impact than we think. Right? Yeah. I'm certain they got up in the morning- [laughs]...
• 9:44
listened to the show, and they're like, "Oh crap. We can make a fat bike." Holy shit. We can 3D print a prototype- Full spectrum... right away. Right? Totally. Well, what do you...
• 9:52
Uh, you had a chance to look at it, Dave. What do you think? I, I'm kinda s- it actually think they did a good job. I haven't seen, I've not seen one in,
• 9:59
I haven't seen one in person, but it, it's very reminiscent of their 1120 and the racks on their 1120.
• 10:05
You guys know I like those racks because I've sorta copied a versi- a lightweight version for my rear, you know, customer chainstay racks, um, based on that 11, original 1120 rack.
• 10:19
These fat bike ones seem a little bit beefier. Um, I'm not sure about the front one. Yeah.
• 10:26
I, I think they've got a, a great lineup here with the 9.6, um, carbon that they did, that they still kept, like, the three-pack mounts and stuff.
• 10:37
So, like, you know, if you wanna get your race bike but you wanna take it occasionally- Honestly... on bike packing trips, you still can. Yeah.
• 10:46
I, I see no reason why these bike companies eliminate three-pack racks on carbon forks. Um, you know, a- and the gravel bikes companies, a lot of them do the same thing.
• 10:57
Enve, most of their forks don't have the th- wh- why not just put those on it? Um, makes it so much more worthwhile. If you never...
• 11:05
I mean, the days, I think the days of when you showed up at a, at a mountain bike race and somebody looked at your, your mountain bike and saw rack mounts and, like, gave you, like, the side eye or something- Yeah...
• 11:16
I think those days are gone. Yeah, because it- I don't think anybody would bullshit like that... because it added some extra weight with that little grommet or that little eyelet in there. [laughs] Right.
• 11:23
Or maybe there was a little more wind resistance- Right, but that was the only way you could-... with it, uh, yeah... right.
• 11:27
That was the only way you could drop weight back then, but now we got, you know, bird spokes and carbon rims and every, you know, tubeless tires and everything else.
• 11:36
So, you know, I think who, uh, your, your backyard fat bike guy, uh, last show or whatever was talking about his, his fat bike weighs 24 pounds, you know? [laughs] Yeah, yeah. Nathan's kinda nutsy about that. Um, so,
• 11:52
so yeah, that's awesome. So yeah, so I think Trek is really smart in the way they, they did this. The only thing is just me, I'm a steel is real guy. Yep. I've got this weird thing about aluminum.
• 12:06
I know, I know planes are flying around all over the place, but I just, aluminum, I, it, it isn't sexy to me, and I also have this weird metallurgical mental thing in my background, like every ride it dies a s-...
• 12:22
tiny death, you know? Yeah. Yeah. [laughs] Yep, yep. 'Cause it, 'cause it does have a fine- Compared to steel... it does have a finite life. Um, well, I- I get it though that you can make the frames cheaper.
• 12:33
It comes in at a better price point even than steel- It's, I-... which I, I don't really- Don't care... understand why that is, but I know it's true... all the hydro farming and everything Don't care.
• 12:42
So what- Stop driving a car- Yeah... if that's a big deal for you. How much aluminum's in your car? Lots. Well, I'm, I'm just saying. Lots.
• 12:49
I mean, if you're that concerned about riding a steel bike versus an aluminum bike, I mean, just cut it all out of the picture- Yeah... sell your car and ride- Or I have-...
• 13:00
either one and not care, but- Or have a car-... still ride the steel bike... or have a car as a backyard- I know. I'm just being weird about it I, I agree with you, Dave. Totally. I totally agree with you.
• 13:10
I mean, part, but part of owning a bike is something that you like. You, you get- It's a part of you... you know, jazzed about, and I just don't, I don't get jazzed about aluminum. It's a part of you.
• 13:19
But that said, it's a great frame. Yeah. Looks like. Well, another good thing about this to me is that their commitment to f- whatever, however many more years, is that we'll still be able to get- Yeah...
• 13:30
fat bike tires, 'cause I started to get worried about people not making fat bike tires anymore. Yeah, so they should start make more. I mean, obviously- Well, it, this one-... there'll still be some Start making more...
• 13:39
it looks 20- Not the Baby Plus? Not the Baby Plus... it looks 27.5. Oh, bu- Is it? Or- Yeah, it's 27.5 by four and a half... Baby, Baby Fat. Yeah. It's a, I don't know. So, so. It, you...
• 13:50
What, did, did you go with it on your new build, or did you go stay with 26? I stayed with 26 on for my- Attaboy... my, um, my Milwaukee Bicycle Company Buckshot. Yeah, that's just 26. Yeah.
• 14:02
Buckshot, is what they're calling that? So I, I think I could've gone, I could've gone the other way. Yeah. Well, the, so the- Yeah, I, I-... the Trek will take a 26 by five too, so.
• 14:11
It just doesn't come stock that way Well, I already owned a pair of- I, I, I thought I had a Baby Fat... I already owned a pair of Dillinger's s- in 26 inch- Perfect... by five, so. Now you're braining.
• 14:20
That was a $500 [laughs] negative, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Now you're braining. $500 in tires, [laughs] so. Cool. Um, yeah. A, so yeah, so I like it. Um, um, anyway, yeah, good, good on Trek with this one. And, um, I...
• 14:37
Did you look at their website pictures? I'm trying to figure out where those, um, those ice cave photos are from. It, they look a little like maybe Washburn, but I'm thinking maybe they're, they're the UP.
• 14:51
Yeah, I'm not sure. It's- It can- It, it, they definitely found snow somewhere. Yeah. It, but, like, the thing that, like, I can see...
• 15:02
I, I, I'm thinking they're the UP, but I can see if you look on their opening page for the Farley, it's got a picture of a guy riding inside an ice cave, shot silhouette from inside looking out, and you can see right across the bay.
• 15:17
You can see the, the shore on the opposite side, which sounds a lot like Chequamegon Bay, but I'm... We don't have that big a ice caves there. You say Chequamegon- So, um-... so nicely. [laughs] Cool.
• 15:32
So speaking of- No, honestly, I, I just cannot pronounce- It's like in that, that somewhere in the UP, right?... that goddamn sh- That somewhere up- Chequamegon. Speaking of Chequamegon, uh- I guess it's Chequamegon...
• 15:39
up there, up there in the forest area, you've got the Fat Bike Birkie coming up this weekend. We, we do indeed. We do indeed. And- What, what, what are people gonna find? [laughs]... it's gonna be, um...
• 15:51
I, they're gonna be, find really, really good conditions. Um, so let me, let me just pull open the- Let me swipe this up... the dumb Apple Weather app.
• 16:00
So this is, take it, take it for what it's worth, but they're saying high of 20, overnight lows in the teens Friday and Saturday night, and highs in the upper 20s.
• 16:13
So given the base, the massively thick, super compact base that we have, and temperatures not going up above into, you know, the belt zone, it's gonna be fast this year. It's gonna be blazing fast. Blazing fast.
• 16:29
Blazing fast. Yeah, I... Well, that's good to hear. I would, I... If, if it were me, I mean, I, I ride Dillinger's all winter long just because you just hit, it just, old guy insurance. They're fun.
• 16:40
I've separated my shoulder too many times. Studded Dillinger's, right? Yeah. Studded, studded Dillinger's. Studded Dillinger's, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Well, even- I, I just like that assurance...
• 16:46
even unstudded Dillinger are fun just to ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. They are. Are you- I would, I would ride studded tires, but, um, I don't think you'll have to. I think it...
• 16:55
We're, we're, we're foreca- right now we're getting, like, some light flurries. We're forecast to get, you know, maybe a couple of inches of snow between now and the, um, and, uh, the race.
• 17:07
So that'll take, that fresh snow will take the edge off any, um, compacted icy spots on, on the course. So I think it's gonna be blazing fast. Maybe record times this year. Awesome.
• 17:20
Do you know we got six inches of snow, right? [laughs] No. No, it is nine. It was rain. It was nine. [laughs] It was nine inches of rain. Nobody knows what we're gonna get.
• 17:30
Nine inches of rain- [laughs] I just said this earlier... by the way. There was a- I know. I, I-... there's an event coming down here, a, a weather event, but nobody knows what it's actually gonna be. Right.
• 17:40
It's gonna be- 2 to 20. 2 to 20. Speaking of, uh, Apple Weather, you opened your app. I... Down here, for some reason, at least on my phone, the radar rarely works properly. I'm getting pissed.
• 17:50
Yeah, well, 'cause you drink the apple juice, you dumb bitch. [laughs] Michael, Michael pregamed into a, a, abusing the host zone. [laughs] What? You will be reprimanded after the show. [laughs] Whatever.
• 18:05
[laughs] He just saying what everyone's thinking. [laughs] So Dave, are you, uh, are you ready to talk a little bit about your upcoming project with the podcast yet? Yeah, I, I think so.
• 18:20
You know, I mean, I really do want... So I, for, if you guys haven't heard, I, I, I, I, I texted Greg, um- The logo, that's the fir- that's how everything in my mind starts.
• 18:35
An idea and then the next comes, next comes the logo. Um, so I, I've been, I've been listening to... You know, I ride by myself up here all the time and, um, and half the time I ride I'm listening to podcasts.
• 18:50
If I'm going for a, you know, a three-hour bike ride, I'm gonna be listening to a podcast or two for part of that. If I'm going for, you know, an hour ride, I, I just don't.
• 18:59
But, but when I'm out for a long time by myself, I like to listen to podcasts, and cycling podcasts are great. But, um,
• 19:07
I'd, I've been very, like, meh about all the bikepacking podcasts, 'cause all they do is talk about these ultra races.
• 19:16
Which, like, after I've listened to my third person that's ridden, you know, uh, done a FKT on the AZT, [laughs] you know- Yeah... I'm just sort of like, "That's, that's not what I'm into."
• 19:29
[laughs] I'm into, like, accessible adventure and, you know. [laughs] And then, you know, w- I like to talk about gear once in a while and hear, you know, "Oh, I tried this new tent," or, you know, or...
• 19:39
And I like to know a route. I don't wanna redo the, "Oh, they switched this section of the AZT this year," or th- this, there's a section of the Colorado Trail that moved, you know, five miles.
• 19:50
Uh, I would rather find out about a new route up by, you know, Grand Marais or, or, you know, in Marquette that I don't know about. And, and that doesn't seem to exist in the podcasting world.
• 20:03
So I ha- been talking to, uh, another bikepacking buddy of mine, Shane Hits, who lives in the Wausau area, and his- Wausau?... work schedule just switched to... Yep, just switched to three 12s.
• 20:16
So he's got four days off a week now, and I'm like, "Shane, you know, we could do
• 20:23
a, a, a video podcast together about our bikepacking routes and gear reviews and some gravel racing and I went through some fat bike stuff. And, uh, you know, we could just do it together and, like, m- I could drive...
• 20:36
If we did it once a month, I could drive to Wausau one time and he could drive here one time." Wausau. "We could do it out in a sauna, you know, a, a rental sauna." Sauna.
• 20:44
"We could, you know, we could do it from the back of the Sawmill Saloon. We could do it from the Whistlepunk Cafe." Ah. You know, and just talk about- There you go. So do, do you have a Rodecaster for audio podcasting?
• 21:00
I don't. Okay. Should. Um, Ben Welnick was always willing to lend me any of his, like, TASCAM recording things, his little portable unit that he had. Um- Right on...
• 21:14
but, so, so in order to ma- in order for me to do this though, I don't want it to be super complicated. I'd really like it to s- to be both video and audio. So- Kinda, yeah... you're the expert, Greg. Yeah. Aw.
• 21:27
You know, I need to come down next week. Greg's the expert... and... Yeah, he is. Well, he is, dude. [laughs] He is. Look at him. I mean- Oh, no, he... No, he's blushing- Well-... in front of us... and you know...
• 21:37
Well, you know- He, he actually is blushing in front of us... you're just bringing the, you're bringing the color... no, he's totally blushing. Yeah, so I- He's blushing. He's blushing...
• 21:43
but you know, you know me, I'm the laziest podcaster that is out there. I don't wanna do any more work than- The way I am, that's the way I want it to be... is absolutely necessary. So as long as you- Right.
• 21:53
[laughs] The way I want it to be... you know, as long as... Well, you're gonna probably plan a little better than we do, but y- I don't wanna do eight to 10 hours- But-... of post just to get the thing done. There's...
• 22:01
It's not really what I wanna do. I don't either. [laughs] So I don't either. He's running down his- So I'm debating how to do this, and I wanna, I wanna talk to you about it i- in, um...
• 22:11
You know, I mean, in my ideal world, it would basically be like one of those videos that I, you know, occasionally put together for Life Above 8 where I just record a video and I occasionally stuff in a different little chunk of footage or a s- you know, a, a route or something like that, or some stills, and that's it, you know?
• 22:32
It, and it seems like that Blackmagic, that, uh, switcher that you've got, and you've got the upgraded one that even allows you to store photos and some- Mm...
• 22:43
does some transitions and stuff, that might be the easiest way to go [baby crying] rather than, like, one of those software platforms. Absolutely, yeah.
• 22:52
But I'm not opposed, I'm not opposed to a software platform if it was also stupid easy. Um, but then you're also- S-... tied to somebody's platform, you know? Yeah. Right. And if that goes south, you're kinda screwed.
• 23:06
And it, and software- So-... always has more problems than hardware, so- Well. You know. Well, yeah... y- you can- Well. Like, like we used to use in the beginning of- Ow.
• 23:16
[laughs] In the beginning of the- Sorry, I come down here with weed...
• 23:20
in the beginning of the old show, the very first Fat Bike, uh, Weekly Dose of Fat, we started out using just something simple like Audacity, and we did a few shows, a few shows- Oh, shit. Yeah...
• 23:31
and then one time- Yeah... something happened- It was bad... to Audacity and it didn't, it didn't work. You know, it just kind of- Right...
• 23:38
blew our podcast, so we wasted a whole show and it didn't do what it was supposed to do. So obviously one thing is back up.
• 23:44
[laughs] You can make sure you back this stuff up somehow while you're doing it so you have at least, you know... The video part you'll be able to see, but the- Right, I mean, I've looked at...
• 23:53
I've done a quick look at, like, Riverside, um, which is kinda like a video podcast app and... But again, if... Then I'm sorta tied to their streaming thing. I'm tied to- Oh, they do it... all their stuff. Yep.
• 24:07
They wa- they want y- Um-... they want your whole, your whole being. They want it. Yeah, Podbean, all those ones. Like, I would rather... And I would rather do it just with hardware.
• 24:19
Um, and, uh, so the- Oh, I thought you were gonna say something more deep. Cool. All right. Well, uh- [laughs] So, yeah. Hopefully you'll be down here in a week or so and we can- Nash it out...
• 24:33
crush this, start to- Start to nash... plot out the overtaking of the bikepacking podcast world Yeah, yeah.
• 24:41
You know, I was thinking about it too in terms of, like, you're talking about setting up a, a podcast studio and stuff like that. Like, man, it'd be nice if there were, like,
• 24:53
regional or area or, like, like, if the city of Hayward had a, had a podcast studio, you know, um- Hey... you know, that you could just go use. You know, uh, that sort of thing.
• 25:07
Um, I mean, I do like the idea of having a lightweight, uh, kit that you can go on location, and if you're doing a video podcast, and you can, you know, be in different spots.
• 25:18
But having that base camp would be pretty nice. You know what it sounds like? You know- We need a, we need a grant, we need a grant writer to do a- You bet. You bet... to do, like, a non-profit studio and,
• 25:30
uh, just kinda do a- Right... y- have mul- obviously multiple people coming in and using it. And I do like the idea of having a base camp- Yeah, totally...
• 25:39
plus also a remote rig because I got my remote rig so small now, which I haven't really been using yet much, but it's- It's small... it's small. It's great. It's, it's tiny. SM-all.
• 25:51
You can take it on your bike, no problem. Yeah. Small, small. SM-all. Yeah. Well, but that's just for audio, right? Um, but, well, but it's- For audio...
• 25:58
but it's geared towards doing it with just, like, an iPhone or maybe two iPhones, and it's got- Oh... lights and it's got audio and everything. It's all- Oh. It's, like, pretty di- Oh.
• 26:10
And it fits in a bag that's like- I've seen those, like, vlogger... I've seen those vlogger kits- Nah... where- Yeah, I'm not sure I like them...
• 26:17
you know, where you set, you clamp an iPhone to a tripod, and it's got, like, a little light that sticks to it, and I've seen those things too. Um,
• 26:26
but I've already got the Sony gear and stuff, so I just need cords to plug things in. Ah. You know, I've got big LED lights.
• 26:33
I, I, I've got almost everything except that switchboard and maybe a, a microphone and some cables. Yeah. Um, you know? Right on. So I don't need that much. I don't need that much either. [laughs] Yeah.
• 26:45
Um, but yeah- Just me... so I'm looking forward to coming down. I'm hoping to come down, like, uh- Cool... Tuesday or Wednesday. All right. Tuesday or Wednesday.
• 26:52
Well, keep us posted, and if you're here on a Wednesday- I may just stay the whole day... we can, we can stuff you into the- Into the white room...
• 26:58
the, the eight foot by eight foot by eight foot cube- With black curtains... that we call the white room with black curtains. The white room- [laughs]... with black curtains apparently.
• 27:07
They let me- Yeah, and I have not been to your, your neighborhood, uh- Well, well... brewery either, so- Oh, no. Well, actually-... hit me up. Oh, also worth visiting...
• 27:14
we, we could, we could possibly do the show over there too, just in case you needed to have easy access to- Yeah, just to your right there. Oh, we could just pop over for a, pop over for a beer after. Yeah.
• 27:22
It's really far away, man. Yeah, just a beer. Oh, and it's really- It's really far away... yeah. It's tiny. Silly bitch... you've gotta, like, basically make it through the parking lot. All right, yeah. Yeah.
• 27:32
All right, well, keep us posted, Dave. Thanks for the update. Appreciate the, uh, the, the- Uh, did you guys already get to the top of the hill? Am I interrupting? Oh, we did, but- Oh, a long time ago, man...
• 27:42
you can, you can tell us what you were doing... yeah. Oh. Oh, sorry, I signed in, I signed in a little bit late, I guess. Yeah, yeah. We were there early because- I-... of all the, all the other hills that were,
• 27:51
were ridden before... so what are you guys, what do you guys got going on? Uh... [laughs] Zombie Ice. Yes, from- Three Floyds... Three Floyds. It's a, it's a double- Oh... double, uh, IPA. Double IPA.
• 28:06
Double IPA something something with- Eight point-... 8.5 is stuff's- Yeah, it's bad. Or great. Yeah. It's great in a bad way. I, I,
• 28:17
I was tempted at the grocery store beer aisle by, uh, a, a Dogfish Head, um, mixed pack, um, with a bunch of different stuff in it, one of which was- 120?... what I'm drinking now. I like Dogfish.
• 28:35
A 90 Minute- Oh, 90's good... Imperial. Yep. Oh, that's a great beer. 90 Minute Imperial.
• 28:40
It was 9%, but the fact that it's an Imperial takes the edge off of that sort of stomach-churning hops that sometimes the Dogfish Head has.
• 28:51
I love their flavor, but sometimes, like, it's like a punch in the gut, they're so hoppy, you know? Yeah, yeah. Well, I wonder if the 90 Minute means- But it's-... you're only supposed to drink one every 90 minutes.
• 29:03
9 point whatever. [laughs] 9%, yeah. [laughs] All right. You gotta- Well, we have a-... you gotta take your time... we got a calamity here, so- You guys aren't that calamity... we're gonna, we're gonna let you go.
• 29:13
You guys are being a bit of a calamity. Dave, thanks very much for calling in. Okay. And, uh, we'll talk to you hopefully next week. All right, guys. All right, thanks, Dave. Okay. Bye. All right. Bye, boys. All right.
• 29:24
[laughs] Well, I just, yeah. What? You having a fucking panic attack? Well, it was getting on SD cards and stuff. It has been. There's a little b- little bit, little spillage. Little spillage here. All right, everybody.
• 29:38
Well, you know, thanks, Dave, 'cause, uh, there was some good stuff. Thanks, Dave. And, uh, I think- Thanks, Tony. Hey, Tony. While, while, uh- All right.
• 29:47
One other thing I wanna mention is, uh, in the show notes, there is a listing of a bunch of stuff that I have posted on the eBay in case you wanna find some stuff, and we're trying to keep the shop going for just another couple of weeks before [laughs] the season breaks.
• 30:02
So see if there's anything on there that interests you, and hopefully Mr. Schabowski will be here next week. Carefully curated it. Carefully curated. All right. Well- I'm sorry, did I say that out loud?
• 30:13
Uh- Yes, it, the, the, the-... oh, hey. Oh, shit... uh, [laughs] thank you, everybody. [laughs] We'll be here next week. Rah, rah, rah, rah, rah, rah. Likely. Rah, rah, rah, rah, rah. Maybe you should listen- Later...
• 30:25
maybe you should listen to the show once in a while. Once in a while. [laughs] Rah, rah.
• 30:32
  [upbeat music]
