- 0:02Speaker 1: With Alexia Napola and Marisa Patton an iHeartRadio podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Hi guys, Hi everyone, Hi Amiga, come with.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Das Yomi Yang. I was so excited to see her face.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I haven't seen it in a few days.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I know I missed your beautiful face too, and talking.
- 0:19Speaker 2: But I know we've been really busy with our lives.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I love that I have this little time with you
- 0:25Speaker 2: and we get to chat. He me out on Boco
- 0:28Speaker 2: and ask each other questions.
- 0:29Speaker 1: We have a bunch of questions from our followers.
- 0:33Speaker 3: I love it, and a lot of answers.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I guess we're going to be answering all those questions
- 0:37Speaker 2: that everybody wants to know.
- 0:39Speaker 1: So I remember the first time I met Todd, and
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm sure you remember the first time you met Steve.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And one of the questions was what was our first
- 0:46Speaker 1: impressions of each other's you know, now husbands.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So what was your first impression of Todd to Todd?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Todd I thought was really funny. I was like, this
- 0:59Speaker 1: guy's really funny. He had like this New York vibed
- 1:02Speaker 1: him and he would just like do these like I
- 1:05Speaker 1: don't know, he just he was funny and he was quick,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and I'm like, I like quick, I like funny. He
- 1:12Speaker 1: talked a lot, he was very engaging, he was obviously
- 1:16Speaker 1: not hard on the eyes, and I thought, this guy's
- 1:19Speaker 1: really fun. I hope this is like, this works out
- 1:21Speaker 1: because I liked, you know, hanging out with him and
- 1:23Speaker 1: double dating.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yes, well that was many years ago, because you obviously
- 1:28Speaker 2: met Todd. Wait before I met Steve. Because when I
- 1:32Speaker 2: met Todd, you were with.
- 1:35Speaker 1: We were double dating with somebody else.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Oh god, Okay, I kind of slipped there, But that's
- 1:41Speaker 3: because you've been my friends.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Okay, that's life.
- 1:43Speaker 3: That's fine. You know, we all have a past. Yep.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So yeah, so I remember that as well. I mean
- 1:48Speaker 3: I remember you having a lot.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Of fun with Todd because you do have that sense
- 1:52Speaker 2: of ye or like he does, and and the joking
- 1:55Speaker 2: and he's really clever.
- 1:56Speaker 3: So you do have those similarities with him. Maybe that's
- 1:59Speaker 3: why I like you so much.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I told you you married Todd because he reminded you
- 2:04Speaker 1: of me. I've been saying it forever.
- 2:07Speaker 3: For sure about Steve. So I heard a lot about
- 2:11Speaker 3: Steve before I actually got.
- 2:13Speaker 2: To meet him, because you were like hugging him up
- 2:15Speaker 2: for yourself.
- 2:16Speaker 3: You were like not sharing him with anybody yet.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You know, I remember when you first met Steve and
- 2:21Speaker 2: you were just like with him, like twenty four seven,
- 2:23Speaker 2: which I loved because, by the way, I think that's
- 2:25Speaker 2: really important before the women actually share the partner they're with,
- 2:29Speaker 2: they need to make sure that he's like shareable, like
- 2:32Speaker 2: that you want other people to meet him.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Well, I had already been burned with sharing beforehand and
- 2:38Speaker 1: announcing and you know, introducing someone to everybody before.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Right, I'm really careful with that, and I think that
- 2:45Speaker 2: that's an advice that I give all my friends, Like
- 2:48Speaker 2: before you bring him out there and introduce him to
- 2:50Speaker 2: the whole group, you know, make sure that you know
- 2:52Speaker 2: he deserves it and that you really like him. And yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 2: you know, you never know about the future at that point,
- 2:57Speaker 2: but like you really need to be excited about him.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And sure, I mean, I just don't like to like
- 3:01Speaker 2: introduce you know, my guy. I agree with a lesson
- 3:03Speaker 2: to something. And of course I've learned that you know,
- 3:06Speaker 2: with age and it was with and with wisdom.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It took us a long time to figure that one out.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I think when you're younger, you just
- 3:14Speaker 2: don't know any better. And you're so excited and you
- 3:16Speaker 2: kind of want to, like you introduce him to parents. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 2: but how I always say, like, make sure that it's
- 3:23Speaker 2: like you know, it's solidified and like you know it's
- 3:27Speaker 2: locked down before you bring him out there.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But nobody asked me for my advice right now, and
- 3:32Speaker 2: you're actually asking me what my first impression about Steve was.
- 3:38Speaker 1: That was the question advice I was. I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: me too. I think the song I'm.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Usually like used to that too.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And so when I met Steve, I had heard so
- 3:52Speaker 2: much about him, and I was so excited to meet him,
- 3:54Speaker 2: and he was everything and more that you told me about.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I was really happy for you because he was. He
- 4:03Speaker 2: was great like you and him made the cutest couple.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It was like, you guys look good together, and then
- 4:08Speaker 2: when you were together, you were sewing to each other.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You're sweet and loving. He was sweet and loving. It
- 4:13Speaker 2: was like, you know, do mommy, like your mom put
- 4:17Speaker 2: him there for you to say, like this is the man.
- 4:19Speaker 2: And your dad too, by the way, because your dad
- 4:21Speaker 2: would have loved somebody like seeing Oh my god.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, well I think they were trying to show me
- 4:25Speaker 1: this is what love is supposed to be, like, this
- 4:28Speaker 1: is what a good loving relationship is. Like, I really
- 4:31Speaker 1: hadn't known. I thought I had known many times, but
- 4:34Speaker 1: I didn't know until now. Yeah, what it's supposed to
- 4:37Speaker 1: be never too.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Late, It's never too late.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I thought he came out the perfect time and you
- 4:42Speaker 2: were ready for it, and he was so.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Cute, he was so sweet, and.
- 4:48Speaker 1: That's it.
- 4:48Speaker 2: That's why you ended up like marrying him, And you know,
- 4:51Speaker 2: you guys are good because I felt like, you know,
- 4:53Speaker 2: you belong together.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we did. We belong together. Yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Yeah, And I love that we all get along and
- 5:00Speaker 3: we love to go out and have fun because we
- 5:02Speaker 3: kind of like all like yeah, right, Todd and Steve
- 5:06Speaker 3: they like each other each other from the day they
- 5:09Speaker 3: first met. And it's great, you know, because it's really
- 5:11Speaker 3: good to be able to go out with another couple,
- 5:13Speaker 3: you know, like, oh, so we have things in common,
- 5:15Speaker 3: we like to do the same things. Yeah, and you know,
- 5:17Speaker 3: we just like to have fun.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Absolutely, though, when did you know that you can spend
- 5:23Speaker 2: the rest of your life with this man?
- 5:25Speaker 3: With Steve?
- 5:27Speaker 1: I actually.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I actually remember.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I want you to answer it because I remember having
- 5:33Speaker 2: this conversation with you, my friend.
- 5:36Speaker 1: So my answer to that is every day that goes by,
- 5:40Speaker 1: it reconfirms for me. So the longer I'm with him,
- 5:44Speaker 1: the more I realize I can't ever be with anybody else,
- 5:46Speaker 1: like this is the person. I'm going to change his diapers,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna you know, clean out his feeding to whatever
- 5:54Speaker 1: I have to do. I'm gonna be with him till
- 5:55Speaker 1: the end because I really like this is it. And
- 5:58Speaker 1: the more I'm with him, the more I feel solidified
- 6:01Speaker 1: in that decision that that's that's it for me.
- 6:05Speaker 3: But I remember, so I'm gonna you know, I'm a
- 6:07Speaker 3: particular date.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You're better with dates than me, but I know that.
- 6:10Speaker 3: So I'm going to stick to the question and I'm
- 6:12Speaker 3: going to answer it for you. Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 2: So the question is when did you know that Steve
- 6:17Speaker 2: was like the man you were going to spend the
- 6:18Speaker 2: rest of your life with. So I remember, like talking
- 6:20Speaker 2: to you, I remember you never leaving there, never.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Leaving like Steve's siety.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So I remember those days, and I remember like you
- 6:28Speaker 2: talking about him like all the time, every single day,
- 6:31Speaker 2: and you're telling me, oh my god, I'm so happy, Alex, say,
- 6:33Speaker 2: like you don't understand Oh my god.
- 6:34Speaker 3: I'm like, it's so in love. This is like the
- 6:35Speaker 3: best man in the world. Oh my god.
- 6:37Speaker 2: So one day you just said, oh my god, I'm
- 6:39Speaker 2: like in love with this man, like I can feel
- 6:41Speaker 2: like I can marry him and just be with him
- 6:43Speaker 2: for the rest of my life. And I was like,
- 6:46Speaker 2: oh wow, Like okay, that's like it's so tough for
- 6:49Speaker 2: because it was, like I think it wasn't even like
- 6:51Speaker 2: the first three months you were already saying that you knew. Yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 2: it's kind of like you knew.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I always know and then I'm always wrong.
- 7:00Speaker 3: But no, but I think that way because you don't
- 7:03Speaker 3: take the risk.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You don't know I've made exactly, you have to take
- 7:05Speaker 1: the risk. You said it. If you don't take the risk,
- 7:08Speaker 1: you don't you know.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I'm a risk taker. I mean me too. I don't
- 7:13Speaker 3: love a challenge. I love a challenge. With me, I
- 7:18Speaker 3: kind of had the same situation you did. You know,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know, we're like in love with love and we
- 7:24Speaker 3: know rights, like we know.
- 7:25Speaker 1: What we love putting on a wedding dress, don't we
- 7:29Speaker 1: or not right?
- 7:30Speaker 2: But what I'm trying to say is like, so with Todd,
- 7:33Speaker 2: I felt the same thing when we met, and I
- 7:36Speaker 2: feel like two months later he asked me to go
- 7:38Speaker 2: with him to Los Angeles and we went to LA
- 7:42Speaker 2: and I think like day three or four being there,
- 7:45Speaker 2: like this is so unlike me because I'm not that
- 7:47Speaker 2: expressive emotionally, especially with you know, something relatively new. And
- 7:51Speaker 2: I told him I must have been drunk, by the way,
- 7:53Speaker 2: because I told him last time I felt like this.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Last time I felt like this about a man, I
- 7:58Speaker 2: married him, and I remember him like, like.
- 8:02Speaker 3: No words because it's true.
- 8:03Speaker 2: So you know, I had been like single for a
- 8:05Speaker 2: year and I was, you know, just going out and
- 8:07Speaker 2: having fun.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I threw it out there.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Was so weird, I think because I'm you know, I'm
- 8:12Speaker 2: so real and so genuine, I'll tend to like it
- 8:15Speaker 2: just came out from my heart. So I just told
- 8:17Speaker 2: him like I'm kind of to me like I'm not
- 8:19Speaker 2: trying to marry you, but okay, like I think he
- 8:21Speaker 2: kind of.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Like, bro, He's like, okay, I like you, like, we're
- 8:27Speaker 3: just dating.
- 8:28Speaker 1: But it was weird because we're not just dating.
- 8:32Speaker 3: No.
- 8:33Speaker 2: What I'm saying is no, I'm but first of all,
- 8:34Speaker 2: I'm not that person. But I don't know, like how
- 8:37Speaker 2: that came out. But what I'm trying to tell you,
- 8:38Speaker 2: it's kind of like you know, like in your gut,
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's obviously not happened to me.
- 8:42Speaker 3: It's happened to me three times.
- 8:44Speaker 2: And that's why I've been married three times, because it's
- 8:46Speaker 2: kind of like you know when you're gonna that this
- 8:48Speaker 2: is the guy you're gonna marry, obviously for different reasons
- 8:51Speaker 2: at different times in your life. But when I'm saying,
- 8:53Speaker 2: like with Todd, I I knew, like I looked at
- 8:56Speaker 2: him and I said, oh my god, because I guess
- 8:58Speaker 2: because being alone for that year that I was on
- 9:00Speaker 2: my own and I was going out and having fun,
- 9:03Speaker 2: I hadn't felt that with any man, so like with
- 9:05Speaker 2: him on this trip, I did and I just kind.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Of like blurred it out and yeah, and the rest
- 9:11Speaker 3: is history. You know.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Three years later we got engaged and we've been married
- 9:15Speaker 2: since then, so we've been together for six and a
- 9:18Speaker 2: half years. Yeah, So, like, what do you think do
- 9:21Speaker 2: you feel like, since like I knew, I felt that
- 9:23Speaker 2: way about Todd, do you think guys also know when
- 9:26Speaker 2: it's like the girl and when they're ready for that,
- 9:29Speaker 2: like you know, when they know that this is the
- 9:31Speaker 2: girl I want to spend the rest of my life with,
- 9:33Speaker 2: and I kid it's her.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I can only speak from different men that I've known
- 9:38Speaker 1: that were like bachelors forever. They have all said to me,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I knew she was the one. I don't know what
- 9:47Speaker 1: they knew or how they knew, but they knew she
- 9:49Speaker 1: was the one. There's something that happens, and that happens
- 9:52Speaker 1: to them too, they know.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I feel like it's something different.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It's like we have something different than none of the
- 9:57Speaker 2: other ones I've had.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Mm hmm. So don't come after us because you're be
- 10:03Speaker 1: in trouble after elected. You don't want to be the
- 10:06Speaker 1: next one.
- 10:16Speaker 3: The next question is a fan question.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I love that our fans are reaching out and asking
- 10:23Speaker 2: those questions because it makes it a lot more fun.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And thank you Marathon for taking the time and reading
- 10:29Speaker 2: through the questions and picking some of the questions. Yea,
- 10:34Speaker 2: So here we have a girl and she says she
- 10:37Speaker 2: and her girlfriend are all married to white American men,
- 10:43Speaker 2: and they're always having.
- 10:44Speaker 3: To explain things relating to our culture.
- 10:49Speaker 2: So what stuff do you, for example, have to explain
- 10:53Speaker 2: to Stephen or like what I have to explain to Todd?
- 10:56Speaker 2: So I want to know what you have to explain
- 10:57Speaker 2: to Stephen about our culture.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Okay, you probably have a lot more work in this
- 11:01Speaker 1: department than I do. Because Steve grew up in Miami
- 11:05Speaker 1: and he went to a Cuban Jesuit high school.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I love it.
- 11:09Speaker 1: He was literally the only American guy there. We were
- 11:13Speaker 1: just at the Kibisken Yakab last weekend and he ran
- 11:15Speaker 1: into a bunch of the guys he went to high
- 11:16Speaker 1: school with at Berlin and they're all like talking, you know,
- 11:21Speaker 1: like half English, half Spanish. Steve knows crokeda. He loves
- 11:26Speaker 1: the word cha moza. He gets it.
- 11:29Speaker 3: But he is very he's very land.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Absolutely, he's he's he's he understands it, and he jives
- 11:35Speaker 1: and and he thrives and he's cool with it and
- 11:37Speaker 1: they love him. It was so cute. They're all telling
- 11:39Speaker 1: me the stories and he was the only gringo in
- 11:41Speaker 1: the entire high school. And then he tells me there
- 11:44Speaker 1: was a cafeteria outside of his high school and the
- 11:47Speaker 1: only thing they had was like so he learned how
- 11:52Speaker 1: to eat all those things because that was the only
- 11:54Speaker 1: place he get it snacked outside of Berlin.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Of course, and so Yami. Anyways, I'm sure he didn't
- 11:59Speaker 2: have a hard time.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Well, you know, he loves food, yes, but.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I'm going to like Cuban foods and snacks are really good.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I think something that because he doesn't understand he hasn't
- 12:10Speaker 1: lost his parents, that I have a couple of pictures
- 12:13Speaker 1: of my parents together in the house and I keep
- 12:16Speaker 1: a little glass of water in front of it, a
- 12:18Speaker 1: clear glass of water for their spirits. And I don't
- 12:21Speaker 1: think he understands that, but he allows it because he
- 12:24Speaker 1: respects my my feelings and you know my traditions. That
- 12:29Speaker 1: that is just clarity for the spirit. Sometimes I put
- 12:32Speaker 1: a little candle, sometimes I put some flowers. It's just
- 12:35Speaker 1: for the spirit of the ones that have passed. So
- 12:38Speaker 1: those are things that I've taught.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I am here.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, for Nance.
- 12:44Speaker 3: You said that. For Nancy.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I have a picture of my mom right up here.
- 12:48Speaker 2: And you're not going to believe this. I've had this
- 12:50Speaker 2: since Mother's Day. What I mean, I had more. But
- 12:54Speaker 2: look at it. It's perfect and the water. I haven't
- 12:56Speaker 2: even changed the water, my friend, Nay.
- 13:03Speaker 3: It is so strong, it's perfect. Marisol, look at this
- 13:06Speaker 3: two weeks that's incredible. That was two weeks to change
- 13:09Speaker 3: the water. So clear clear, I haven't even changed, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 3: we know.
- 13:14Speaker 1: We know those are signs that there were.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Sure, yes, it's incredible they show us.
- 13:19Speaker 2: But mummy, m O Nancy, So yeah, they think it's weird.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I agree with you that we're so in touch with
- 13:28Speaker 2: our loved ones and with with our with with the
- 13:31Speaker 2: people that have the seas that have been such a
- 13:33Speaker 2: part of our lives, and they're like our guardian angels,
- 13:36Speaker 2: and we maybe communicate with them and we remember them
- 13:39Speaker 2: in such loving memory, and like you said, we have
- 13:41Speaker 2: their pictures. We put a flower, we put the basso
- 13:44Speaker 2: and and I did that for a long time, like
- 13:47Speaker 2: you know, for the spirits, because that's how you elevate
- 13:49Speaker 2: their spirits. And that was the bigs that we were
- 13:51Speaker 2: taught you know, as as young girls in our homes.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So yeah, very very good. So I had that one
- 13:57Speaker 2: as well. But I think that with Todd, like you said,
- 14:02Speaker 2: him growing up in Saten Island and you know, definitely
- 14:04Speaker 2: being more American whole other animal, right, He's he's definitely
- 14:11Speaker 2: you know, not as you know Latinisau or like Cubanized
- 14:15Speaker 2: as Steves. So I don't know I mean, I don't
- 14:18Speaker 2: know that this has so much to do with our
- 14:19Speaker 2: culture or maybe the person, but I've had to explain
- 14:22Speaker 2: how the Latinos are always late, not always, I mean
- 14:26Speaker 2: there's everything, but we have a problem with on time.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So you're not bad at that.
- 14:33Speaker 2: You're good because I'm with Todd. Yeah, like I used
- 14:36Speaker 2: to not be so good. Look with Todd, I have
- 14:40Speaker 2: to like I have worked on it because I know
- 14:41Speaker 2: it bothers him.
- 14:43Speaker 1: But I hate to interrupt you, but you're not grossly late.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Some people are an hour hour and a half late.
- 14:47Speaker 1: You're usually ten to fifteen minutes. Oh yeah, yeah, I'm early.
- 14:51Speaker 1: You're ten fifteen minutes. But that's not yeah, grossly.
- 14:54Speaker 2: By the way, we have that problem in our group
- 14:56Speaker 2: right now. But anyways, so yeah, so but with him,
- 15:00Speaker 2: I've gone better. But it is a Latino thing. And
- 15:04Speaker 2: like the thing is, we don't even get mad about it.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Like we have a party and we put a knee
- 15:07Speaker 2: and by eight o'clock and we don't nobody's going to
- 15:10Speaker 2: show up till nine.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So it's so funny.
- 15:12Speaker 2: So Todd and I have had parties here at home,
- 15:15Speaker 2: and all of his friends that are all American they're
- 15:18Speaker 2: all on time, sipon the're right there at seven ding tho.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I was like, oh god, for sure it's your friends. Yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 2: all his friends show up on time. And then my
- 15:26Speaker 2: friends are for sure an hour late. You know, if
- 15:28Speaker 2: I put seven, they'll be by eight. So it's definitely
- 15:31Speaker 2: a cultural Latino thing. And I think another thing that
- 15:36Speaker 2: that I've had to explain to Todd is the fact
- 15:38Speaker 2: that we talked to our mom, to our parents and
- 15:41Speaker 2: to our kids like ten times a day. Like, I mean,
- 15:45Speaker 2: I obviously don't have my mom now, but when she
- 15:47Speaker 2: was like I just like you were EDZN, I used
- 15:48Speaker 2: to talk to your mom on the phone for hours.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I love talking to her. Like my mom took on
- 15:53Speaker 2: the phone, so did your mom. And we would like
- 15:56Speaker 2: and they would call us. How many times would your
- 15:57Speaker 2: mom call you? I remember, and she couldn't find you.
- 16:00Speaker 2: She would call me and.
- 16:01Speaker 1: She was like everybody anybody that could find me, right,
- 16:05Speaker 1: and my brother and my father, like she never stopped
- 16:08Speaker 1: the cleaning.
- 16:09Speaker 2: So if I wouldn't answer the same thing, my mother
- 16:11Speaker 2: would call my sister or you eat doing mana.
- 16:14Speaker 3: So it's it's just like a cultures. Yeah, so and
- 16:20Speaker 3: you know, so I guess we got that from my parents,
- 16:22Speaker 3: and now I do the same thing to my kids.
- 16:25Speaker 3: You know, I caught Peter twenty times a day and
- 16:27Speaker 3: I call it Frankie. Well, Frankie calls me a lot
- 16:28Speaker 3: to Actually, Frankie loves to call me, and I love that,
- 16:33Speaker 3: you know that.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Like I'll text him. I'm like, where's und your worst car?
- 16:36Speaker 1: What are they doing? Are they coming home today? What
- 16:38Speaker 1: are they doing? Are they staying with us? What's for dinner?
- 16:40Speaker 1: What's happening? Like I ask him a million questions.
- 16:42Speaker 2: It was so funny with my stepdaughters and talks like bro,
- 16:48Speaker 2: like like he doesn't call me bro, but that was
- 16:50Speaker 2: just me happening.
- 16:52Speaker 3: He was liked yeah, and I was like, babe, like
- 16:59Speaker 3: what and he's like, listen, it's okay.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I don't call the girls twenty times a day like
- 17:03Speaker 2: we communicate, but like I trust.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Them they're good. I don't have to be calling them
- 17:07Speaker 3: the whole day.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I was like no, but like you need to text
- 17:09Speaker 2: them and are they coming and where are they And
- 17:11Speaker 2: I was like, say, helio, me too.
- 17:14Speaker 1: He's so calm about it, and I'm like, but wait,
- 17:16Speaker 1: but what Yeah, yeah, it's weird.
- 17:18Speaker 2: So definitely. That's another one that's been but like it's
- 17:21Speaker 2: been like in a fun way. You know, I've learned
- 17:23Speaker 2: from him, he's learned from me, and you know, I
- 17:25Speaker 2: don't know whose way is better, but it's just like
- 17:27Speaker 2: my way in his way.
- 17:28Speaker 3: And again like the way that we were raised in
- 17:30Speaker 3: our culture.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And I think the other thing is like talking with
- 17:35Speaker 2: our hands and talking loud.
- 17:36Speaker 3: He's like, he'll he'll get home and.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I'll be like maybe even talking to you or talking
- 17:40Speaker 2: to one of my girlfriends, and he'll be like, who
- 17:42Speaker 2: are you screaming at like in Spanish? And I'll be like, babe,
- 17:45Speaker 2: like this is that we talk like. It's not argumentative,
- 17:48Speaker 2: like we're not arguing. We're just like yell and I'm
- 17:51Speaker 2: like talking all over with my hands and he's like, oh, okay,
- 17:54Speaker 2: because like you know, they don't speak like that.
- 17:56Speaker 3: You know, it's different. So I think that's also like cultural.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Steve gets it. He's never once said to me being loud.
- 18:04Speaker 1: He's yeah, he's.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Been around and he went to Berlin. Yeah, and all
- 18:08Speaker 3: his friends were like Cuban America like us. I'm sure
- 18:10Speaker 3: he would visit their homes and.
- 18:12Speaker 2: They were used to that, like if there's no screaming,
- 18:15Speaker 2: there's like no communication going on.
- 18:17Speaker 3: That was when a community.
- 18:18Speaker 1: When I was on Saturday when we were with ran
- 18:21Speaker 1: into all of his friends from high school at the
- 18:23Speaker 1: yacht club. Every other word out of their mouth was
- 18:26Speaker 1: O battle, battle, And he just listens and talks like
- 18:31Speaker 1: that's nothing. And I'm thinking of myself.
- 18:33Speaker 3: He does it, Milburt him. He does it well. And
- 18:36Speaker 3: he when his friends is always.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Oh he says that.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Now, yeah he does because that's where I want. Oh,
- 18:46Speaker 3: you know, we go like how we speak. So he's
- 18:48Speaker 3: I picked up a couple of things from me.
- 18:50Speaker 1: It's his favorite word is j molsa. Every time I
- 18:54Speaker 1: say it, he giggles and he screams gi molsa and
- 18:56Speaker 1: takes a sip of wine. Chee molsa.
- 18:58Speaker 3: He's so cute.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Well, I love that he's embraced you know, he's embraced
- 19:03Speaker 2: you know, you and and your culture.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And he's a lover not a fighter. Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I love that. Well.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Speaking of families and blended families, how have you been
- 19:15Speaker 2: able to I mean, in this case, you didn't come
- 19:17Speaker 2: with any children into the marriage, but you came with
- 19:20Speaker 2: two dogs with Tupac and Poppy.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Oh god, oh.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Blend. How were you able to blend your two spoiled dogs.
- 19:31Speaker 2: And the boys? Yeah, because his boys are easy. I
- 19:34Speaker 2: think your dogs are harder than his than the boys.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Well, yeah, Steve has a problem with my dogs.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I look, they're not table.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Your dogs are not trainable, and his kids are fine.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 19:44Speaker 1: So a lot of people have told me, like Tupac
- 19:47Speaker 1: is hapchuaap dogs, and those dogs are untrainable. They pepe everywhere.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I don't even know what Poppy is. He Pepe's everywhere too.
- 19:54Speaker 1: They he loves to run away. They men at each other.
- 20:00Speaker 1: So if one's knotty, the other one does the same thing.
- 20:03Speaker 1: It's very hard to train them. I paid a trainer,
- 20:05Speaker 1: it's like kids, several thousands of dollars, a lot of thousands,
- 20:10Speaker 1: and I've been busy. I never had them come here.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I paid them like a year ago. That flushed it
- 20:14Speaker 1: down the toilet basically, So you know, he's not.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Way I would have done with your kids, if you
- 20:18Speaker 3: would have had kids. No, that's obviously not.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You know, because the dogs can't respond to me, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 1: they can't speak back to that.
- 20:26Speaker 3: That's a great thing. That's a great thing. By the way, well.
- 20:29Speaker 1: That's why people love animals more than people, because you know,
- 20:32Speaker 1: they don't get any lip. But uh, it's been you know,
- 20:37Speaker 1: for him, it's been difficult because of my dogs. But
- 20:40Speaker 1: his kids are great. They're really easy, and I think
- 20:46Speaker 1: you they're they're amazing, Like I couldn't have been knock
- 20:49Speaker 1: on wood. I don't want to say I like youving
- 20:51Speaker 1: because I'm just I don't even want to use that word.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I feel very grateful. I'm blessed, and I always wanted
- 20:57Speaker 1: to have my own kids, and then I got some
- 20:59Speaker 1: that somebody else raised and they're perfect. So that's it,
- 21:02Speaker 1: done and done. Your situation is a little more complicated.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You have like the Brady Bunch going on over there.
- 21:08Speaker 2: It is because I came with two boys. And even
- 21:10Speaker 2: though you know Overage, you know, Peter is still a
- 21:14Speaker 2: very big part of my life. And and Frankie, you know,
- 21:19Speaker 2: you know, being you know, unique and having unique abilities,
- 21:23Speaker 2: he you know, he also comes with like special directions.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You know, it's not like you know, your average, you know,
- 21:30Speaker 2: independent child that you know can do a lot of
- 21:33Speaker 2: things on his own, Like he needs you know, a
- 21:35Speaker 2: lot of my attention, so you know, Todd's learned to
- 21:39Speaker 2: you know, to to realize it, to be aware of it,
- 21:41Speaker 2: and and.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Actually just add you know, support to it.
- 21:45Speaker 2: But you know, the girls are really loving, and you
- 21:48Speaker 2: know they get along with Peter and Frankie fine. Peter
- 21:50Speaker 2: doesn't live here, so it's been easy. You know, I
- 21:52Speaker 2: think that when they're older, it's easier in some ways
- 21:55Speaker 2: and it's harder in other ways, right, because it's kind
- 21:57Speaker 2: of like Peter's a man, so it's kind of like okay,
- 21:59Speaker 2: like to your husband, but it's like he doesn't live here,
- 22:02Speaker 2: so you know, the relationship is different. It's like a friend,
- 22:04Speaker 2: which is actually great because you know he sees Todd
- 22:07Speaker 2: as a friend. And Frankie is very loving. You know,
- 22:11Speaker 2: there's nobody that's not going to love Frankie. Frankie all
- 22:14Speaker 2: he has is love and happiness to share, so it's
- 22:17Speaker 2: very easy to love him too. And and you know,
- 22:21Speaker 2: my stepdaughters are.
- 22:23Speaker 3: Really independent and they're really great.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Honestly, like I'm really blessed that way because they've given
- 22:28Speaker 2: us zero problems. So that's been easy as far as
- 22:31Speaker 2: you know, managing that. But the best advice I can
- 22:34Speaker 2: say is kind of like respect your boundaries and just
- 22:38Speaker 2: don't try to be their mom or don't try to
- 22:40Speaker 2: be their dad. Just try to be their friend. You know,
- 22:43Speaker 2: that's all you can do, you know, because they don't
- 22:45Speaker 2: have a mom. You know, they already have the real
- 22:47Speaker 2: you know, the biology mom, the biological dad. And you know,
- 22:50Speaker 2: we're not here competing. First of all, there's enough love
- 22:52Speaker 2: for everybody. I have love for my children, from my stepdaughters,
- 22:55Speaker 2: from my husband, for everyone.
- 22:56Speaker 3: So it's like there's enough of love.
- 22:58Speaker 2: So it's kind of like just respect each other, you know,
- 23:01Speaker 2: just be good listeners and be friends and and really
- 23:06Speaker 2: don't butt in in like important things, you know what
- 23:09Speaker 2: I mean. I've learned a lot from Todd's parenting skills, which,
- 23:12Speaker 2: by the way, were very different from mine, maybe because
- 23:16Speaker 2: of his background, you know, different from mine, the way
- 23:19Speaker 2: he was raised, you know, so he definitely had a
- 23:22Speaker 2: different parenting scot style.
- 23:24Speaker 3: But it's worked out for him really, really well.
- 23:26Speaker 2: So I've actually learned a lot of things from him
- 23:29Speaker 2: that I've applied to my relationships with my sons. And
- 23:33Speaker 2: I think he's learned a lot of things from me
- 23:35Speaker 2: and my boys.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You know.
- 23:36Speaker 2: He always says that he learned to love and be affectionate,
- 23:39Speaker 2: like because me, Peter and Frank and I were so affectionate,
- 23:43Speaker 2: you know, like you see, as well as.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Like touching each other.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Oh that's another thing about Latinos that we're always touching
- 23:47Speaker 2: each other.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, we're always like.
- 23:50Speaker 1: That's how you end up getting married too many times touching, touchy.
- 23:56Speaker 2: So anyway, so we I think we both you know,
- 23:59Speaker 2: came in to like the marriage or into our relationship.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Also like later on in life, right, you know, more mature,
- 24:06Speaker 2: with more wisdom, so like things that didn't work out before,
- 24:09Speaker 2: you know, work out now because we really wanted to
- 24:11Speaker 2: work out. And like I said, you know, it's it's
- 24:13Speaker 2: different when the kids are small. Everybody's situation is different,
- 24:16Speaker 2: you know. Luckily for me mine we're older, but then
- 24:19Speaker 2: I have you know, special needs on so it's it's
- 24:22Speaker 2: been an adjustment. It is an adjustment. And then just
- 24:25Speaker 2: don't give up. You know, you have to be patient,
- 24:29Speaker 2: you have to be tolerant. And I mean that's all
- 24:33Speaker 2: I can I can really say. Yeah, and you really
- 24:36Speaker 2: have to love each other because.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Oh they only see us happy and laughing, and you know,
- 24:42Speaker 1: these kids are so well brought up. They had two
- 24:45Speaker 1: good parents. I'm just like a big sister over here,
- 24:48Speaker 1: so you.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Know, well, you know what that but that's a great thing.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I mean, we're two boys. Wouldn't love to have a
- 24:52Speaker 2: big sister like you?
- 24:54Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, oh. I'm all giggles and fun
- 24:56Speaker 1: and they love it, you know.
- 24:57Speaker 2: And you know what, that's all you're really supposed to
- 24:59Speaker 2: be because and they have their mother, and besides that,
- 25:01Speaker 2: you don't want to be that step mother that's going
- 25:03Speaker 2: to I mean it's different because, like I said, when
- 25:05Speaker 2: they're little, there's you know, different like responsibilities and that
- 25:09Speaker 2: you would have as a stepmother. Right, But I think
- 25:12Speaker 2: that you getting them at teenage, you know, late teenage years,
- 25:15Speaker 2: just like I did, changes everything. So every situation is different.
- 25:20Speaker 1: And I had enough employees that were young to know
- 25:24Speaker 1: how to handle them and know, you know the things
- 25:26Speaker 1: are going to bring up and don't get involved. I'm
- 25:29Speaker 1: literally just a rescue. If you need me, I'm there.
- 25:31Speaker 1: You need a sandwich, you need an emotional place, you
- 25:34Speaker 1: need to drive, you need some money, whatever, you know,
- 25:38Speaker 1: big sister, that's it. You know. I'm not here to
- 25:40Speaker 1: teach them anything new, maybe just how to deal with
- 25:43Speaker 1: the pains right now. My step son just broke up
- 25:45Speaker 1: with his girlfriend and he's hurting.
- 25:47Speaker 3: No way, you hadn't told me.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he's yeah, he's hurting. But she's about to leave
- 25:52Speaker 1: for college, and you know she's said.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Oh, everybody's going through that. Although my stepdaughter has has
- 25:57Speaker 2: a boyfriend. But you know they're good and they're going
- 26:00Speaker 2: to spend the summer together. But it's hard. It's their
- 26:03Speaker 2: first love. Never know how to handle it.
- 26:06Speaker 1: You know. You know what I did. I brought him
- 26:07Speaker 1: a Jill's Aaron candle. He loved it. I put it
- 26:10Speaker 1: on the room, I made it dark. I'm like, you
- 26:12Speaker 1: want any food, you want to hot cocoa, you want
- 26:14Speaker 1: a tequila? What do you need?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Just you want girlfriend?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Well I know I told Steve that afterwards, but it's
- 26:21Speaker 1: a little soon, and you know, it's only in a
- 26:22Speaker 1: couple of days. He loved the candle. He slept. You
- 26:25Speaker 1: want to play poker with his friends. He's getting through it.
- 26:28Speaker 3: We broke up with him.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It was kind of like a mutual was kind of mutual,
- 26:34Speaker 1: kind of mutual, but not so much. It was just
- 26:36Speaker 1: kind of forced. You know, someone always checks out a
- 26:39Speaker 1: little bit and you someone else takes the reins and
- 26:42Speaker 1: you feel it coming and you're like, okay, well we
- 26:44Speaker 1: need a break, and then you hope feel like.
- 26:45Speaker 2: You know, this will be a life lesson for him,
- 26:47Speaker 2: you know. And that's how we can say it hurts,
- 26:49Speaker 2: and it's going to hurt, but you.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Kind of have to go through this. No, you can
- 26:54Speaker 3: be ready for.
- 26:54Speaker 1: The next Are we ever really ready? Like it hurts
- 26:59Speaker 1: the first time? Well, now it's starts. It's super painful,
- 27:03Speaker 1: And I was like, you know what, hopefully you don't
- 27:04Speaker 1: have to go through it again. You meet someone and
- 27:06Speaker 1: that who you're with forever, but you won't be the
- 27:08Speaker 1: first and you won't be the last.
- 27:09Speaker 3: It happens going everybody college.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and obviously he's staying here, so that's a problem exactly.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like that's like the first heartbreak right
- 27:19Speaker 3: when you when you graduate from high school.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, and you have to make that decision mm hmm.
- 27:26Speaker 2: But hopefully you're there, like you, like you said, like
- 27:29Speaker 2: a big sister and like a friend. He has a
- 27:32Speaker 2: shoulder you know, to cry on or you.
- 27:34Speaker 1: To Like anyone can give experience on bad breakups, it's me,
- 27:39Speaker 1: You're an I'm an expert.
- 27:46Speaker 3: So MATI.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I know how much you're like a cocky. I don't
- 27:50Speaker 2: like when you call it the other word without the
- 27:52Speaker 2: I E.
- 27:53Speaker 1: But you know what, I'm lazy, so I cut some
- 27:55Speaker 1: you know, a shortened every day.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Don't cut that one off.
- 27:58Speaker 2: It sounds like it's very fun. No, it's not cocky,
- 28:02Speaker 2: is cue but the other one without the ie nomeusta.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Okay.
- 28:06Speaker 2: So anyways, I know all your favorite cockies. But because
- 28:09Speaker 2: I know you're working on your cockies, I know that
- 28:12Speaker 2: you're discovering different flavors. So tell me what's the latest
- 28:17Speaker 2: on your list that you love.
- 28:19Speaker 1: My latest favorite cockie is the porn Star Martinis.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Right, okay, so tell me.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's vodka. You know, one of my favorites
- 28:32Speaker 1: passion fruit lemon, and I think it's like a vanilla
- 28:36Speaker 1: syrup in it. You shake it up, it's delicious. Oh
- 28:40Speaker 1: my god, yeah, it's really good.
- 28:43Speaker 3: I can't wait till you prepare one of those for me.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I had a margarita the other day. We always order
- 28:53Speaker 3: the other day, no, every day, So you know what
- 28:56Speaker 3: it was called the orange marmalade.
- 28:58Speaker 2: It was a pastise. It was so good because besides
- 29:02Speaker 2: the lemon. They put orange on it and like the
- 29:06Speaker 2: orange syrup with the lemon and the spice.
- 29:09Speaker 3: It was delicious.
- 29:10Speaker 2: That sounds really I'm like, oh, I have to give
- 29:12Speaker 2: this idea from my to my friend because it was
- 29:14Speaker 2: really really good.
- 29:15Speaker 1: That sounds really good, Alex, Yeah, yeah, Do we have
- 29:18Speaker 1: to get it at pasties? Are we going to make
- 29:19Speaker 1: them at home?
- 29:20Speaker 2: No, let's try them at home. I'm sure yours are
- 29:22Speaker 2: going to come out better. You're really good shaking up
- 29:25Speaker 2: a drink, my friend.
- 29:26Speaker 1: You know what, there's something in the hands. My first
- 29:28Speaker 1: husband used to tell me he'd make himself a sandwich
- 29:31Speaker 1: and I'd make.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Sandwiching else, you're like something in my hands. My first.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he was was like you, there's something in your hands.
- 29:43Speaker 1: He'd make a sandwich. I'd make the same exact sandwich,
- 29:45Speaker 1: and he said mine tasted better. But some people have
- 29:48Speaker 1: something in the they know how to cook and make things.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Yo, tell me. And that's why I'm so afraid of
- 29:52Speaker 3: using my hands because.
- 29:55Speaker 1: The world will explode.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Yes, no, no, for real, I get that a lot too.
- 29:59Speaker 2: But the drinks, you know, I don't really like it,
- 30:02Speaker 2: but I feel like you really do. How to prepare
- 30:04Speaker 2: a cocktail. And you know that because in the group,
- 30:05Speaker 2: everybody always wants you to prepare the cocktail.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Some of the girls like, huh, I can't drink them? What,
- 30:12Speaker 1: Oh my.
- 30:13Speaker 2: God, I do get to you sometimes. I mean, I'm like,
- 30:16Speaker 2: it's for me, not for you.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Well, you know, my trick to a good cocktail is
- 30:21Speaker 1: I pour myself one first so that you know, then
- 30:24Speaker 1: I get creative and I make a good one, and
- 30:26Speaker 1: then sometimes sendalo like you say, I do a little extra,
- 30:29Speaker 1: and then everyone's gay. I'm like, it's fine, what's wrong
- 30:32Speaker 1: with you? Drink it puts hair on your chest, like
- 30:34Speaker 1: my dad would say.
- 30:36Speaker 2: So, since we're giving kind of like advice to each other,
- 30:40Speaker 2: what's someonody?
- 30:42Speaker 3: Well, like, what advice have you given me? I feel
- 30:44Speaker 3: like we're always giving advice to each other.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I know that that's one of the next questions, and
- 30:47Speaker 2: that's why I was looking at it and kind of thinking, like,
- 30:50Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like all of our conversations
- 30:54Speaker 2: we kind of have advice for you the same.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Well, we think the same very much so, and I
- 31:01Speaker 1: find that you and I think the same and feel
- 31:04Speaker 1: the same about don't sweat the small stuff, don't let
- 31:09Speaker 1: the little things stress you out. It's very easy to
- 31:12Speaker 1: get caught up in the You're sitting in traffic, someone
- 31:16Speaker 1: cuts you off, you get pissed off, you start cursing,
- 31:18Speaker 1: and then you're living in that negative energy. Like you
- 31:20Speaker 1: and I are very much about, don't let the little
- 31:24Speaker 1: things bother you. Look at the big picture. This is small,
- 31:28Speaker 1: it's not a big deal. Focus on the good. Like
- 31:30Speaker 1: we talked about this last time about not letting you know,
- 31:36Speaker 1: even a breakup or you know, just not focusing on
- 31:39Speaker 1: the negative, focusing on the positive and all the good
- 31:41Speaker 1: around you. I think that that's something I learned from you,
- 31:44Speaker 1: and we constantly talk about that.
- 31:46Speaker 3: No, I mean I agree with you.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I mean I love that I have, you know, a
- 31:50Speaker 2: friend that can give me good advice. You know, it's
- 31:52Speaker 2: always great, especially now that I don't have my mom.
- 31:55Speaker 2: And my mom used to always give me good advice.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I would never really do anything with it. I mean
- 31:58Speaker 2: I would kind of like I feel like as I
- 32:00Speaker 2: got older, I did start listening to her advice. And
- 32:02Speaker 2: what I do now a lot is think about the
- 32:05Speaker 2: advice that she chose to give me. Right, Oh my god,
- 32:07Speaker 2: and like if my mom was here, like what would
- 32:09Speaker 2: she be telling me or I start thinking, do la
- 32:11Speaker 2: cosa get in the past, you know, throughout my life
- 32:14Speaker 2: she had told me like all the time, I've been
- 32:16Speaker 2: doing that lately.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Yep, me too, or no, angry at little things of
- 32:23Speaker 1: like Okay, it's not a big deal. Yeah I do
- 32:27Speaker 1: that to Alex.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah no, But I mean it's great because I
- 32:31Speaker 2: feel like every girl needs a friend to get good advice.
- 32:34Speaker 2: And I feel like I have different friends. They give
- 32:37Speaker 2: me different kinds of advices. You know, if I already
- 32:39Speaker 2: like financial advice, like I know one of my friends
- 32:42Speaker 2: was really good with that, so I would ask her,
- 32:44Speaker 2: you know, if I need advice on relationships, you know,
- 32:47Speaker 2: and everything. But I feel like you and I we
- 32:49Speaker 2: can talk about everything and anything and be honest with
- 32:52Speaker 2: each other and really, you know, give advice to each
- 32:56Speaker 2: other like like sisters, and you know, really talk like raw,
- 33:00Speaker 2: you know, like say things and maybe you don't want
- 33:02Speaker 2: to hear, but you have to be open and honest.
- 33:04Speaker 1: And you know, I don't always want to hear things.
- 33:07Speaker 3: I know you don't, I know, but oh my god,
- 33:10Speaker 3: I know, Like yeah, I'm.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Very and I'm a good listener and you.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Are, but I tell you those things because like I
- 33:16Speaker 2: love you and I care for you, Like if if
- 33:18Speaker 2: I don't, then I don't do that. But when I
- 33:20Speaker 2: give advice, it's usually like good advice, and especially if
- 33:23Speaker 2: you're my friend and I love you, because it's like
- 33:25Speaker 2: I would only do that if you're my friend and
- 33:28Speaker 2: I love you.
- 33:28Speaker 3: So I feel like people give each other really good advice.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, I always have you know, your best
- 33:34Speaker 1: interest at heart. I always want you to end up
- 33:37Speaker 1: happy and winning at the end of whatever the situation is.
- 33:40Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean I think like sometimes people do
- 33:42Speaker 2: have a hard time taking in the advice and it's like, well,
- 33:46Speaker 2: why are you even like.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Because we're stuck in our own thoughts in our own heads.
- 33:51Speaker 1: It's normal. You know, you have a thought process and
- 33:54Speaker 1: someone's giving you a different angle and you can't process
- 33:56Speaker 1: it because you're stuck in your own situation. It's normal.
- 34:00Speaker 1: But you know what I do, listen and I do.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Okay, So we've been beating out on the bush. We've
- 34:05Speaker 2: been being around the bush. Remember I'm the teacher. They
- 34:08Speaker 2: want to know specifically, what is the best advice you
- 34:11Speaker 2: think you've given me?
- 34:13Speaker 3: And the best advice I've given you.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Well, I just said it before and I and it's
- 34:17Speaker 1: the same.
- 34:19Speaker 3: It was the same in general, No, I thought, but
- 34:21Speaker 3: I could think of like one thing okay again my
- 34:24Speaker 3: words with you, but with a relationship, okay, with like
- 34:27Speaker 3: in the past.
- 34:28Speaker 1: So it was some advice you gave me.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Mm hmm about your Yeah, about like somebody that was
- 34:34Speaker 2: in your life, you know, in the past, and you
- 34:37Speaker 2: know you you finally listened and you know I gave
- 34:39Speaker 2: you a lot of advice and you reacted.
- 34:41Speaker 3: You know.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I feel like that's when you really you know, I'm
- 34:44Speaker 2: just trying to be like a little bit more specific
- 34:46Speaker 2: because I mean, in general, we give each other great advice,
- 34:48Speaker 2: you know, and that's what good friends do. I feel
- 34:51Speaker 2: like you and I have both been through a lot
- 34:53Speaker 2: of things in our life that were on a level
- 34:55Speaker 2: that you know that you you could give me good advice,
- 34:57Speaker 2: and I could give you good advice because you know,
- 34:58Speaker 2: you're not going to ask like a thirty year old
- 35:00Speaker 2: and maybe hasn't gone through something like that or hasn't
- 35:02Speaker 2: lived the experiences we have, you know, for advice. So
- 35:07Speaker 2: with that being said, I remember giving you specifically good
- 35:10Speaker 2: advice and a particular relationship you were in and you
- 35:14Speaker 2: finally like accepting it and realizing it and listening to it.
- 35:18Speaker 2: And I'm happy about that because you know, I got
- 35:22Speaker 2: thank you.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, thank you. And I think a lot of
- 35:26Speaker 1: what you were saying is what I was saying before.
- 35:30Speaker 3: You know, Yeah, this is going to you've given me
- 35:32Speaker 3: and you've given me good advice too, Like with my relationships,
- 35:35Speaker 3: like with my kids, with with my.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Limited capassibility, I do the best that I can and
- 35:41Speaker 1: I possibility capassibility.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Okay, when you see you teach me your words, I
- 35:49Speaker 2: was like, capassibility.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I love when an English lesson, it's so good. We
- 35:55Speaker 1: got to do one of those.
- 35:56Speaker 3: And one of our podcasters do an English lesson please.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, a Spanglish lesson.
- 36:02Speaker 2: So anyways, Amiga, for all your advice and.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. I'm only I'm only healthy in
- 36:09Speaker 1: alive because of you and all the good people around me.
- 36:20Speaker 2: So we know that you had a very successful PR
- 36:24Speaker 2: firm here in Miami, and I had the privilege and
- 36:28Speaker 2: honor to work with you and together.
- 36:31Speaker 1: I had full locations around the country. By the way,
- 36:34Speaker 1: I just want to throw that plug in there.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Oh that's right. You did have in different cities. You
- 36:38Speaker 2: had presents there, so I apologize for that, thank you
- 36:40Speaker 2: for But I mean you were really known in Miami
- 36:44Speaker 2: for you know, for the events you know, and the
- 36:48Speaker 2: and the brands that you represent here and for all
- 36:50Speaker 2: of your PR work that you did here. So and
- 36:54Speaker 2: I had the honor and privilege to attend all these
- 36:56Speaker 2: events and to work with you and to publish all
- 36:58Speaker 2: those great events in the magazine.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Thank you for your support the magazine.
- 37:03Speaker 3: You know, how can I not?
- 37:04Speaker 2: You were like, had the best parties and the best
- 37:06Speaker 2: of everything. So you did that for many years, and
- 37:09Speaker 2: I know it was a big part of your life
- 37:12Speaker 2: and it assumed your life as well. Yes, you know
- 37:15Speaker 2: your friend back then as well. And by the way,
- 37:19Speaker 2: the question is like what made you close the firm?
- 37:22Speaker 2: I already know any.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Answer, but I would like for you to explain it
- 37:26Speaker 3: to people that are interested that are listening.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Right, So, I think that for people that don't know,
- 37:33Speaker 1: PR is a it's it. It sucks the life out
- 37:39Speaker 1: of you. It's a really really really hard job. A
- 37:42Speaker 1: lot of people burn out really young, really quickly change careers.
- 37:48Speaker 1: It's a special type of person that can do this
- 37:50Speaker 1: and do it for the rest of their lives until
- 37:53Speaker 1: they're you know, until they expire. It was taking a
- 37:58Speaker 1: big toll on me. My personal relationships, my families were
- 38:01Speaker 1: My mother and father were very ill. They needed me.
- 38:05Speaker 1: And I met a man at the time that said
- 38:07Speaker 1: to me, you know what, you're not fun. You know,
- 38:11Speaker 1: you're super stressed all the time. Don't worry about work.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I'm going to take care of everything. And I called
- 38:17Speaker 1: I remember calling my father and thinking this is crazy,
- 38:19Speaker 1: Like I need to ask my dad because he's always
- 38:21Speaker 1: supported me my whole life. And my dad was like,
- 38:25Speaker 1: you know what, your mother and I really need you.
- 38:27Speaker 1: And and I hate that job. You're always stressed, you're unhappy,
- 38:31Speaker 1: and you know, you know, go with this man, close it.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Do whatever you're going to do. Go live a life,
- 38:36Speaker 1: go travel, do whatever. And you know what, I was
- 38:40Speaker 1: just waiting for just someone to rescue me and get
- 38:42Speaker 1: me out of there. I was so stressed.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Oh I remember, I remember that part of your life vividing.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:48Speaker 3: I was very happy that person.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because you were so it consumed you and you
- 38:53Speaker 2: were so good at it, and it absorbed you so
- 38:55Speaker 2: like you want everything to be perfect, and you had
- 38:57Speaker 2: so much pressure with your employees, with the brands, with
- 39:01Speaker 2: with just I was.
- 39:02Speaker 1: The one man show with a big monkey on my back,
- 39:06Speaker 1: and the opportunity to escape was there. And one of
- 39:10Speaker 1: the girls that was my vice president at the time,
- 39:12Speaker 1: I've been telling her for two years, I'm going to
- 39:14Speaker 1: get out of this. I don't know how, but I'm
- 39:16Speaker 1: going to get out, and I'm either going to close
- 39:18Speaker 1: it or you can have it. We're gonna, you know,
- 39:20Speaker 1: just start thinking about it. And then when I met,
- 39:23Speaker 1: you know, my ex, I remember calling her like with
- 39:27Speaker 1: the two months notice. I said, I'm out. You want it?
- 39:30Speaker 1: Or am I closing it? She's like, I don't know
- 39:32Speaker 1: what to do. I'm nervous. What do I do? And
- 39:33Speaker 1: I said, open a bank account. Oh, you can have
- 39:36Speaker 1: the furniture, you can have the employees, you gonna have
- 39:39Speaker 1: the clients, you gonna have the computers, the phones, you
- 39:41Speaker 1: can have it all. You just need your own bank
- 39:43Speaker 1: account and your own corporation. It's all yours. And that's
- 39:46Speaker 1: what we did. We transferred everything over. And she's still
- 39:49Speaker 1: in business now and she's killing it. She's doing a
- 39:51Speaker 1: great job. She wants to get out. She hates it.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Well, the thing is like for a single woman.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Well, the only reason why you were able to do
- 39:58Speaker 2: it for so many years was because you single, Because
- 40:01Speaker 2: if you would have had a family or a real
- 40:03Speaker 2: relationship at that time in your life, you wouldn't have
- 40:05Speaker 2: I mean, any man would have made you pick because
- 40:08Speaker 2: I remember it was that you could never have fun,
- 40:10Speaker 2: like even like at the event, I would see you
- 40:12Speaker 2: and you were like completely disconnected and stressed out.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And you know that.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I was very happy when you made that decision because
- 40:19Speaker 2: I was your friend at that time and you told
- 40:21Speaker 2: me as well, and I was like, oh, you know, finally,
- 40:24Speaker 2: like finally we're gonna be able to go out and
- 40:26Speaker 2: have fun and you're gonna you know, So it worked.
- 40:29Speaker 1: And there's a point, did I I We've been having
- 40:32Speaker 1: fun ever since, like.
- 40:34Speaker 3: A different person since then.
- 40:35Speaker 2: People asked me, and I said, well, you really can't
- 40:38Speaker 2: judge by that because she was working, Like that's not
- 40:41Speaker 2: like how she really is.
- 40:42Speaker 3: She was working.
- 40:42Speaker 2: She's a professional and and and it gets stressful, and
- 40:46Speaker 2: it gets stressful.
- 40:47Speaker 3: So I was very happy by your decision.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I think that's one of the best things you've done
- 40:50Speaker 2: in your life, because if not, you would have been
- 40:52Speaker 2: there like, oh my god, for nothing, because you know.
- 40:58Speaker 1: A person in the world. And I just want to
- 41:00Speaker 1: give kudos to all those people that are MPR and
- 41:03Speaker 1: have a family or run to own a business and
- 41:07Speaker 1: have a family. It's a lot of stress, it's fine,
- 41:10Speaker 1: very difficult.
- 41:11Speaker 2: I really applaud all those women because you know, women
- 41:13Speaker 2: have even more responsibility in that case. You know, when
- 41:17Speaker 2: they have families that they go home and their children
- 41:19Speaker 2: and homework and after school activities and then events on night,
- 41:21Speaker 2: and then they have to make their husband happy and
- 41:24Speaker 2: they have to look good, and it's a lot. Honestly,
- 41:27Speaker 2: it's a really it's a glamorous career. It's actually a
- 41:30Speaker 2: really pretty profession for a woman. I always loved it
- 41:32Speaker 2: myself too.
- 41:33Speaker 1: But it's not so glamorous exactly.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Well, like a lot of careers and professions, but it's
- 41:40Speaker 2: one that you really have to dedicate your heart and
- 41:43Speaker 2: soul and so many hours and at the end, you know,
- 41:46Speaker 2: I don't know if it was worth it. It was
- 41:48Speaker 2: worth it for you for all those years that you
- 41:49Speaker 2: did it, obviously because you liked it, but it's a
- 41:51Speaker 2: lot of sacrifice.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Well, as you said, I.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Checked that box off of running a really big company
- 41:57Speaker 1: from scratch, and growing it and becoming in your national
- 42:00Speaker 1: and you know what I mean, that was huge and
- 42:03Speaker 1: I didn't even study that, so I you know, I
- 42:05Speaker 1: have to pat myself on the backboard. I gave it
- 42:07Speaker 1: the college try. I did great. It was top business
- 42:11Speaker 1: in my city at least, so you know, I did it,
- 42:15Speaker 1: done it, and I'm out. My father always said, if
- 42:18Speaker 1: you're going to do something, be the best, and I
- 42:22Speaker 1: did it to be the best until I myself.
- 42:25Speaker 3: Still the best.
- 42:25Speaker 2: My friend, your starter. Oh favorite Cuban traditions. I can
- 42:36Speaker 2: talk about this all.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Day hours, right, there's so many.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Well, I feel like one of the biggest Cuban traditions
- 42:47Speaker 2: I think is like our family.
- 42:49Speaker 3: I feel like we were we were like born.
- 42:51Speaker 2: And raised Gila Familia is like everything everything is a
- 42:54Speaker 2: family and food, right, everything is like food. My house, well,
- 43:01Speaker 2: you guys were like weird Cubans and that because father.
- 43:05Speaker 1: You know, my mom didn't want to eat either.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I know, you know it's true. You know I didn't
- 43:10Speaker 2: have that typical house. It was luckily for me, I
- 43:12Speaker 2: had my grandmother that cooked so good and she was
- 43:15Speaker 2: like so Cuban and she was the one that raised
- 43:17Speaker 2: us so like every day it was like food, Like.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I was all like that kind of food. I was likeda.
- 43:29Speaker 2: So, which, by the way, is like another tradition is
- 43:33Speaker 2: like the Cubans that we call like terms of endearment
- 43:37Speaker 2: to like the people we love, Like we call like
- 43:39Speaker 2: I call boy. He's like, what do you mean Boppy.
- 43:42Speaker 2: It's like, isn't Poppy like your dad?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Yeah, And I'm like, well yeah, but it's also like
- 43:46Speaker 3: my guy. It's also like my man, right, like a
- 43:48Speaker 3: mimacho like Bobby, things like that. So that's like another
- 43:52Speaker 3: Cuban tradition that we have that we call each other
- 43:55Speaker 3: in terms of endearments and we put like ETA on everything,
- 43:59Speaker 3: like I like say aa or like Gordida, you know,
- 44:03Speaker 3: and not to you know, like English speakers.
- 44:05Speaker 2: I think we'll look at us weird, like we call
- 44:07Speaker 2: somebody skinny like Gordida. But it's kind of but like
- 44:13Speaker 2: sometimes you say, like Meorda, you know, and it's not
- 44:15Speaker 2: because you're Gorda, it's not because you're.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Fat's just you love endment yeah right, yeah, So I
- 44:22Speaker 1: think that that's like another Cuban tradition.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Like I really like, by.
- 44:26Speaker 1: The way, I made free from scratch for the first
- 44:29Speaker 1: time in my life on Sunday.
- 44:31Speaker 3: No, maybe.
- 44:34Speaker 1: No, I used the regular pot. Yeah, and they tasted
- 44:38Speaker 1: just like in the restaurant. It took seven hours. I'll
- 44:40Speaker 1: buy them at the restaurant.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Seven hours, bro, How can it take you seven hours? Negro?
- 44:47Speaker 1: Because they had to cook for my friend Peter.
- 44:50Speaker 3: You need a pressure cooker. Oh yeah, the bersion, yeah faster.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Yeah, because I took I said, Steve, we can just
- 44:59Speaker 1: go by it around the corner. I want to spend
- 45:00Speaker 1: making good.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:02Speaker 1: And I made him super clean. No, just water and
- 45:06Speaker 1: herbs and that was it.
- 45:07Speaker 2: And that's seven hours or like.
- 45:11Speaker 1: No, I made it perfect, but it wasn't boiling. Peter
- 45:15Speaker 1: told me to boil it and then lower the heat
- 45:17Speaker 1: and then it took too long, and then I had
- 45:18Speaker 1: to boil it again. Then it finished, So it took
- 45:20Speaker 1: like a good close to seven hours.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I thought this is ridiculous.
- 45:24Speaker 3: I can't wait seven hours to eat, bro.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Well, they're telling me, oh, women make it in the morning.
- 45:29Speaker 1: They go to work and come back. I'm like, who's
- 45:31Speaker 1: going to leave the stove on all day? You're gonna
- 45:33Speaker 1: burn the house.
- 45:34Speaker 3: Down for free?
- 45:35Speaker 2: How did the house get on fire?
- 45:39Speaker 3: I was making free? Holy that's funny, I was.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Making it's not that necessary.
- 45:45Speaker 3: I a lot of good Cuban restaurants, so yeah, we gotta.
- 45:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna spend seven hours on something you better like
- 45:51Speaker 1: over the top and different.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, so well, speaking of food, that's another tradition
- 45:56Speaker 2: that I love, Like.
- 45:58Speaker 1: That's my favorite.
- 45:59Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, get the pig at the farm. I
- 46:04Speaker 3: don't like the part of the slaughtering and all that.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never gone to the farm. Usually just shows
- 46:12Speaker 1: up at my house in the box and someone makes
- 46:14Speaker 1: it right.
- 46:15Speaker 2: But I feel like that's like a real Cuban or
- 46:18Speaker 2: Latin thing, you know, where we celebrate whenna and it's
- 46:22Speaker 2: like a whole ceremony picking up the pig, seasoning it
- 46:25Speaker 2: the night before watching it, you know, and like a
- 46:29Speaker 2: Gina churning it, doing the whole thing.
- 46:31Speaker 3: It's like we serend the pig.
- 46:34Speaker 1: If I if I did the beginning to end process
- 46:36Speaker 1: like that, I'm like I could eat it. And you
- 46:38Speaker 1: know I love bacon and pig.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it. I know you love it. Remember
- 46:45Speaker 3: remember the little here.
- 46:47Speaker 1: There was there was this we filmed the scene. I
- 46:50Speaker 1: think it was season one two. I don't remember one.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Season one one at your house, and you guys went
- 46:55Speaker 1: to get the pig and you cooked it. And remember
- 46:59Speaker 1: we were we were filming, and they did this thing
- 47:02Speaker 1: for the audience. There's something called ring tone where everyone
- 47:05Speaker 1: has to be silent. And I had just put a
- 47:08Speaker 1: piece of crunchy pig skin in my mouth and I
- 47:11Speaker 1: was crunching it, and everyone screamed at me because it
- 47:14Speaker 1: was ring tone. When I was you could hear the
- 47:16Speaker 1: crunching of the pork skin.
- 47:18Speaker 3: In my mouth, and you know, and you didn't want
- 47:20Speaker 3: to stop. You're like, it's so good, I'm not going
- 47:22Speaker 3: to stop. They have to wait, so you I had
- 47:25Speaker 3: to wait for you to get room, Tom. And by
- 47:27Speaker 3: the way, it had the hairs of the pig.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, thing.
- 47:31Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, cool, Like it literally had those
- 47:34Speaker 2: hairs of the animals. Still I can't but I'm happy
- 47:37Speaker 2: you enjoyed it.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. I'm not enjoying it now, reflecting on
- 47:41Speaker 1: hair in my mouth.
- 47:42Speaker 2: When the guys are serenading the pig, they are like
- 47:45Speaker 2: smoking cigars, which is another really cool Cuban tradition which
- 47:49Speaker 2: I don't like either because I don't like the smell
- 47:51Speaker 2: of it. But it's like pretty hot, like the guys
- 47:54Speaker 2: like smoking the cigar.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Have you ever put a suitcase by your front door
- 47:58Speaker 1: before on New Year's Eve? So you travel represtitious.
- 48:01Speaker 3: I'm not there yet, Remember I I follow my questions.
- 48:06Speaker 3: I was amazing.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Is there another one? Is there that's a tradition?
- 48:09Speaker 3: No, Cuban traditions?
- 48:10Speaker 2: Oh, I thought you were talking about Cuban superstitious, which
- 48:13Speaker 2: is another which is all it's superstitious.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Tradition for me is tradition, but it's also bornerline.
- 48:18Speaker 2: You're right, because Cuban superstitions are Cuban traditions.
- 48:21Speaker 3: So let's talk about that one marathon. Tell me that's
- 48:24Speaker 3: what I'm saying.
- 48:25Speaker 1: So I like to put a suitcase in front of
- 48:27Speaker 1: the door, front door every year, so that you know
- 48:29Speaker 1: I'm sure to travel plenty.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Really yeah, I like, you know, I even heard about that.
- 48:37Speaker 2: You know what I want I put behind the door
- 48:43Speaker 2: after a party, And I'm kidding.
- 48:45Speaker 3: I don't do that. I've never that one, but I've
- 48:47Speaker 3: heard of that one. Yeah.
- 48:48Speaker 1: What about.
- 48:51Speaker 3: That means.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Money is coming? Right?
- 48:54Speaker 3: Yes? Yes?
- 48:55Speaker 1: Yes?
- 48:56Speaker 2: Or now, since we're talking about superstitious and super stitions,
- 49:01Speaker 2: let's talk about it. Superstitions I feel like since the
- 49:03Speaker 2: day were born, like we we grow up in superstitions,
- 49:07Speaker 2: at least like in our culture with the Cubans.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Because did you even have the saba the little ones
- 49:13Speaker 3: gemp stone.
- 49:14Speaker 1: No, I had diamond earrings?
- 49:15Speaker 2: Okay, well I had those two. I had those two
- 49:21Speaker 2: dibine earrings. My parents put a big asaba.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Oh well, guess what I told you if you would
- 49:29Speaker 1: have had that bro I was an infant. Well, I
- 49:34Speaker 1: wasn't in.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Or in the necklace, but I think that's so cute,
- 49:37Speaker 3: you know, like a lot of baby on the pin, yeah,
- 49:41Speaker 3: the pins, or like in the necklace or in the bracelets.
- 49:44Speaker 2: So I felt like the day I was born, I
- 49:46Speaker 2: was already brought up like it's a superstition.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Of course because of the asabach thing.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, well I believe in good luck charms. I
- 49:56Speaker 1: just never had an asabachi.
- 49:58Speaker 3: What about another superstition that I love? And I know
- 50:01Speaker 3: that I love it.
- 50:10Speaker 2: When you know that somebody is being mean to you
- 50:13Speaker 2: and like, you know, trying to like ruin your life,
- 50:16Speaker 2: you like put their name, you write their name, and
- 50:19Speaker 2: you wet it and you put it in the freezer
- 50:20Speaker 2: and you kind of just like freeze them, you know what, Like.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I did that. I did I did that once like
- 50:27Speaker 1: thirteen years ago. Not sure if it worked.
- 50:32Speaker 3: They're still talking about your being mean.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Huh yeah, I think so. You see it didn't work.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Well, there's superstitions, That's how there are. It's not like
- 50:42Speaker 2: you know, there's any proof to them. And these things work,
- 50:45Speaker 2: but you know, you want to believe that the work
- 50:46Speaker 2: when you're doing them.
- 50:47Speaker 1: And I kind of just set it and forget it.
- 50:49Speaker 3: And it was that right. Another one is the milha
- 50:53Speaker 3: or like the sugar, like you want when you want
- 50:56Speaker 3: to attract somebody like romantically, or you know, you want
- 51:00Speaker 3: like a job interview to go well or something to
- 51:03Speaker 3: go good.
- 51:03Speaker 2: It's kind of like you sweeten them up. Yeah, and
- 51:06Speaker 2: you use honey or use sugar like water with sugar.
- 51:09Speaker 3: And there's so many out there.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like as Latina in a culture
- 51:13Speaker 2: that we have so many of these superstitions, you know,
- 51:16Speaker 2: and they're all fun, you know, they're all like fun
- 51:18Speaker 2: and funny and.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think that the the mental energy you
- 51:25Speaker 1: put into it is actually what makes it happen, you know,
- 51:30Speaker 1: just not just the act of a little sugar and
- 51:33Speaker 1: a honey and here. The fact that you believe that
- 51:36Speaker 1: it's going to give you a result is what makes
- 51:39Speaker 1: it work. If it works, it all. But they are
- 51:42Speaker 1: certainly fun folklore, that's for sure.
- 51:44Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:46Speaker 3: I love let a candle's yeah, the candle like the flowers,
- 51:51Speaker 3: the water.
- 51:53Speaker 1: That's the first thing I did when Garrett came home,
- 51:55Speaker 1: the candle still sitting there, the Jills Ren candle. He
- 51:57Speaker 1: was like, like, you want a candle and me put
- 51:59Speaker 1: a candle.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Why does it have to be Jills Darren's candle. Why
- 52:02Speaker 2: can't it just be diptique.
- 52:04Speaker 1: No, Well, because that's what.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Have any like special superstitious qualities.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Actually, so her candles have stones and gems in them
- 52:15Speaker 1: for energy. They actually have real gemstones in them for healing. Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 1: And I had a fresh one in there and it's
- 52:23Speaker 1: and the candle said be happy on the outside, and
- 52:26Speaker 1: I thought, me.
- 52:27Speaker 3: Like happy, yeah, And.
- 52:29Speaker 1: He loved it smelled like vanilla. He was relaxed. It
- 52:32Speaker 1: was good. Yeah, candles beautiful.
- 52:35Speaker 2: It's all medic and all you need at home are
- 52:37Speaker 2: flowers and candles. To me, that just changes like the
- 52:40Speaker 2: whole mood and vibe of the house.
- 52:43Speaker 1: It smells like Vanilla so much.
- 52:45Speaker 2: It's right here, be happy, Okay, Lena, I like it.
- 52:49Speaker 2: So everybody wants to know about our fitness and beauty routine.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Hypo forward. There's nothing I can talk about here. So
- 52:56Speaker 1: we have a do we have.
- 52:58Speaker 3: The I put forward? Was I'm really really fit?
- 53:01Speaker 2: In context? Because I put forward for you? Like, so
- 53:04Speaker 2: what did you? Obviously don't do anything for fitness?
- 53:07Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you?
- 53:09Speaker 3: No, no, I don't know.
- 53:11Speaker 1: So no I'm so I'm saying yes, thank you for
- 53:13Speaker 1: that entre No I I unfortunately I'm a poor example
- 53:18Speaker 1: of fitness. I don't like to perspire. I don't like
- 53:22Speaker 1: to be hot. I don't Yeah, I don't like any
- 53:26Speaker 1: of that. I've tried a few, like to move.
- 53:29Speaker 2: I've seen you play tennis. You can play tennis, I mean,
- 53:32Speaker 2: but it's less routine.
- 53:33Speaker 1: If someone puts me in some sort of a game
- 53:36Speaker 1: where I have to win, I will. I will to
- 53:39Speaker 1: win because I like to win. But I'm not athletic
- 53:43Speaker 1: at all, super competitive, zero athleticism.
- 53:46Speaker 3: So nothing for fitness. Okay, what about for beauty?
- 53:50Speaker 1: For beauty so you know, for me, like I think
- 53:53Speaker 1: we talked about this a little bit before, a little
- 53:55Speaker 1: bit less for me as less. It's more. I do
- 53:57Speaker 1: my boat talk. I've all as all the time without
- 54:00Speaker 1: moisturizer on my face. I used to be better about it.
- 54:03Speaker 1: I try not to.
- 54:04Speaker 3: You don't want to give people your no, no, no.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well I actually switch on your to aquafor
- 54:12Speaker 1: I put it because I have very dry skin, though,
- 54:14Speaker 1: so my skin soaks everything up, plus the pillow picks
- 54:17Speaker 1: it up. So I use something very thick because I
- 54:19Speaker 1: have dry skin. I do my aquafor. I do my boatox.
- 54:22Speaker 1: I get a couple of strings once a year just
- 54:26Speaker 1: to help with you know, lift the underneath my neck.
- 54:29Speaker 3: And you don't have to say so much.
- 54:31Speaker 2: Beauty could be like you know, nutrigena and oil oble
- 54:34Speaker 2: like I was just talking about creams.
- 54:35Speaker 1: I take no vitamins. I'm a hot mess, but you
- 54:39Speaker 1: know here I am clean.
- 54:40Speaker 2: I'm pretty good, my friend, I don't think so. You're
- 54:43Speaker 2: very healthy and you look good, you know, you know it.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Must be some good jeans, because I don't think I
- 54:49Speaker 1: really take care of myself.
- 54:50Speaker 3: Jeans.
- 54:51Speaker 2: You're good doctors, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, or doctor both.
- 54:58Speaker 1: What's your cigarette a?
- 55:00Speaker 3: I was born that way and I'm kidding.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I woke up like this, right, never sleep with kidding?
- 55:07Speaker 2: Well, you know, I know I do that. All you
- 55:09Speaker 2: girls get mad at me because sometimes I do that.
- 55:12Speaker 2: But the only reason why I sleep with makeup sometimes
- 55:14Speaker 2: is because the next day I need my makeup done
- 55:17Speaker 2: and I don't feel like sitting in a chair for
- 55:19Speaker 2: another hour and a half. So I say, you know what,
- 55:21Speaker 2: let me just keep my makeup on and just sleep
- 55:23Speaker 2: on it, and then the next day I use it
- 55:25Speaker 2: and then I take it off.
- 55:26Speaker 3: But luckily for me, I do have good skin.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Doesn't that make you feel tired? I feel exhausted. If
- 55:32Speaker 1: I wake up with my making.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I feel exhausted. I feel like I have to sleep
- 55:38Speaker 2: the same. My sleep is not as good because I
- 55:41Speaker 2: think I'm a little bit cautious about it, like am
- 55:43Speaker 2: I going to get my pillow dirty? Which the answer
- 55:45Speaker 2: is yes, by the way, for something well minor extensions.
- 55:50Speaker 3: I don't have the strip the last strip, so I
- 55:52Speaker 3: don't do that. But it's worth it.
- 55:55Speaker 2: It's worth it because the fact that I have to
- 55:57Speaker 2: wake up the next day earlier and just in the
- 56:00Speaker 2: chair for an hour for makeup.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Save a couple of hundred recycle it.
- 56:03Speaker 2: And save two or three hundred dollars. So yes, but
- 56:06Speaker 2: I do watch my face every day, you know. I
- 56:08Speaker 2: think my secret has been, like I've never really worn
- 56:11Speaker 2: a lot of makeup. And with that being said, foundation.
- 56:14Speaker 2: I never used foundation to like an older adult like
- 56:18Speaker 2: into like my late thirties. Truthfully, I never wore like
- 56:22Speaker 2: My makeup regimen was very simple. It was only like,
- 56:26Speaker 2: you know, mascara, lip gloss, maybe a little bit of blush.
- 56:30Speaker 2: I never really young, no, but not really because the
- 56:34Speaker 2: other young ones now are the ones that do.
- 56:36Speaker 3: Their face like a lot. I've seeing the young girls
- 56:39Speaker 3: amount of makeup that they wear all the what is that?
- 56:43Speaker 3: So that's what I'm telling you.
- 56:44Speaker 2: I never really did anything to like my late thirties.
- 56:47Speaker 2: And with that being said, even like makeup and I
- 56:50Speaker 2: did both talks for the first time in my early forties,
- 56:53Speaker 2: and sporadically I would do it. So I think I
- 56:55Speaker 2: had like a late start, you know, as far as
- 56:58Speaker 2: like beauty, you know, beauty products and all that. I
- 57:02Speaker 2: do love to change up like the brands like so
- 57:05Speaker 2: I'll use Lamer, I'll buy Lamur, and once I'm done
- 57:07Speaker 2: with the whole Lamer thing, I'll change feel like Babor
- 57:10Speaker 2: when I'm done with like Babor, you know, I'll change
- 57:12Speaker 2: to Nutrigina.
- 57:13Speaker 3: So I know it's crazy, but I like to try
- 57:16Speaker 3: different things.
- 57:16Speaker 1: I say, it's good to do that, to change the
- 57:19Speaker 1: brands and the cosmetics and not to do the same routine.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Just like with your hair, you have to mix it up.
- 57:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, So I love to do that.
- 57:26Speaker 2: And for fitness, for me, I I've always had to
- 57:28Speaker 2: kind of work out because I have the body, that
- 57:32Speaker 2: kind of body or like again the Latino body where
- 57:34Speaker 2: I have the big legs and the button the whole thing.
- 57:36Speaker 2: So I need to be working out, especially now at
- 57:39Speaker 2: our age.
- 57:39Speaker 1: I feel like you don't miss a workout, you don't
- 57:43Speaker 1: miss the work you're pretty good.
- 57:44Speaker 2: I think it's all mental. Like for me, that's how
- 57:47Speaker 2: I start my day, like I don't even think about it.
- 57:49Speaker 2: I put on my workout clothes. I have the gym
- 57:51Speaker 2: here downstairs, so that's a plus. I don't have to
- 57:53Speaker 2: drive to the gym, and I have a trainer three
- 57:56Speaker 2: times a week, so for me, it's like automatic.
- 57:58Speaker 3: You know.
- 57:58Speaker 2: I brush my teeth, washed my face, I have my
- 58:00Speaker 2: coffee actually before I write the gym and then I
- 58:03Speaker 2: just work out of the gym and it gets me,
- 58:05Speaker 2: it wakes me up.
- 58:06Speaker 3: It makes me feel good about myself. You know.
- 58:08Speaker 2: It kind of like starts my day. I think about
- 58:10Speaker 2: all the things that I need to do and get done. Yeah,
- 58:13Speaker 2: and from there I'm ready to like shower or not shower,
- 58:16Speaker 2: depends how much I sweat, and then I just you know,
- 58:18Speaker 2: keep onto the beauty bar or like go on with
- 58:20Speaker 2: my day whatever it is that I need to do.
- 58:23Speaker 2: But for me, fitness is very important. I mean, fitness
- 58:26Speaker 2: is part of my beauty routine for me.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Well done. You. I wish I could be like that, Honestly,
- 58:34Speaker 1: I wish I could. I wish I loved it. If
- 58:36Speaker 1: I did, I know, I'd be like ripped and fabulous.
- 58:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I mean I don't want to be ripped because you know,
- 58:40Speaker 2: at our age some book, I'm trying to be ripped.
- 58:42Speaker 3: But you know, I like my clothes to look good.
- 58:44Speaker 2: And like I said, I've really noticed, like in this
- 58:47Speaker 2: time in our lives that you start getting flabby.
- 58:50Speaker 3: I mean, it is what it is. Okay.
- 58:52Speaker 2: So who is your style inspiration? Do you have any
- 58:55Speaker 2: like anybody you look to for like a style inspell.
- 58:58Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of do I say that I always.
- 59:01Speaker 3: Like somebody, oh, Zerra Burn, Coco Chanel.
- 59:08Speaker 1: I love Audrey Hepburn, But you know, I always like
- 59:10Speaker 1: what she wears. What's that blonde? Kate Blanchet. I love
- 59:14Speaker 1: the way Kate Blanchet dresses. She always dresses on point
- 59:18Speaker 1: for me, you know, I like her style.
- 59:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and you my inspose is.
- 59:26Speaker 2: I knew, but you know what, she could be sexy,
- 59:30Speaker 2: she could also be conservative and elegant.
- 59:32Speaker 3: She just for me. She's always on point. She always
- 59:34Speaker 3: kills it and.
- 59:35Speaker 1: She saw well we said it at the same time.
- 59:39Speaker 2: Yeah, of course I knew who yours would be too.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I mean, I didn't know Kate Blanchet, but she does
- 59:43Speaker 2: have great style. But I feel like Jlo always dresses
- 59:47Speaker 2: like appropriate for the occasion, And to me, that's part
- 59:51Speaker 2: of yeah, you know, knowing knowing how to dress.
- 59:54Speaker 3: It's not like, oh, she had a beautiful dress, but like.
- 59:56Speaker 1: She's definitely gotten better over time.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Definitely feel like she else it.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: If she goes to a Good Morning America, she's wearing
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: like a sue or she's wearing like a turtleneck. You know,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: she knows how to dress for the occasion for me.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Turtle neck signature.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Excited.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear turtleneck and I get lady would it's
