- 0:07Speaker 1: This is Chuck's Cantina podcast, where anything and everything is
- 0:13Speaker 1: up for discussion. And now here's your barman, Chuck o'donald.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you have a few.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Shit, I can get my fucking mike set.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Wow, this is a great intro.
- 0:29Speaker 5: Welcome Chuck Scantina. I'm your favorite barman host. Whatever the
- 0:32Speaker 5: hell you want to call me, Chuck. There's a cat.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Next to me.
- 0:34Speaker 5: As always, thanks for joining us.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I know it's been a while.
- 0:37Speaker 5: I know is that I want to be gone, but
- 0:38Speaker 5: I'm back and is that want to be gone? But sorry,
- 0:41Speaker 5: it just been a crazy month. Anyway, Thank you, Episode
- 0:44Speaker 5: one ninety three. As always, Chucks Scantina on your socials,
- 0:46Speaker 5: Chuckscantina at gmail dot com. Back to the socials that
- 0:49Speaker 5: is Instagram, Facebook, laps, Twitter X and uh anything else.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I don't have a threads. I probably should get a
- 0:56Speaker 4: threads earlier.
- 0:58Speaker 5: Anyway, and you re joined us. I am drinking a.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Or non sponsored today.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Keyword not look ry black bedy cucumba.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Is actually good. Not realize that's pretty and delicious.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Hey, you know, as you get older, as you get older.
- 1:19Speaker 5: Back in my day, I used to not be a
- 1:22Speaker 5: big fan of blackberries, and now I think half of
- 1:26Speaker 5: my fridge is BlackBerry like sparkling Seltzer waters. Pretty good,
- 1:32Speaker 5: pretty good, pretty good? Anyway, cut to it. What do
- 1:35Speaker 5: we talk about today doing a solo episode? Are we
- 1:37Speaker 5: gonna go for? I don't know. So let's just do
- 1:39Speaker 5: some catching up. Let's see house projects coming along, moving along,
- 1:43Speaker 5: getting there, slow and steady, adulting. It's fun. It's not fun,
- 1:51Speaker 5: it can't be, but it's not. Yeah, what else? Uh?
- 1:59Speaker 5: So I always said, let'tensign you why I did a
- 2:01Speaker 5: slip review. I said I would do a st for Superman. Spoiler,
- 2:03Speaker 5: I have not seen it yet. The fun thing about
- 2:08Speaker 5: big blockbusters is plural, So I will admit I'm a
- 2:18Speaker 5: bit of a picky movie goer. That's not even the
- 2:22Speaker 5: right way to say it. Movie movie screen watcher. Essentially,
- 2:26Speaker 5: if it's not the biggest screen, I don't want to
- 2:27Speaker 5: watch it, probably because it is not cheap to go
- 2:30Speaker 5: see a movie today. I'm trying to give an example,
- 2:33Speaker 5: like an AMC theater or a Marcus like you go
- 2:37Speaker 5: see like an Amax's giant Imax thing with the sounds
- 2:40Speaker 5: and all the crazy shit, or Marcus that got their
- 2:42Speaker 5: ultra screens and all that stuff, and yeah, it's the
- 2:46Speaker 5: top tier screen, so it's gonna cost a little more.
- 2:48Speaker 5: But then when you see these other regular screens, it's
- 2:52Speaker 5: what two three bucks cheaper, and the times aren't great.
- 2:55Speaker 5: I'm like neah no, So that's why i'n't see Superman.
- 2:58Speaker 5: So once it does come out eventually streaming, I will
- 3:00Speaker 5: go see it. Oh no, don't go see streaming. Go
- 3:03Speaker 5: sport the theater. Go do this, go to well, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 5: don't make me come to a movie that you say
- 3:11Speaker 5: starts at seven o'clock and actually starts at seven thirty
- 3:13Speaker 5: five because you have to play thirty five minutes of ads.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I have to watch an ad before the movie after
- 3:18Speaker 5: said twenty five thirty minutes of an ad saying hey,
- 3:21Speaker 5: come to our theaters to watch our movies, which is
- 3:23Speaker 5: funny because I'm already in the theater. Fuck stop it. No,
- 3:33Speaker 5: my father hasn't been a movie theater in twenty two years. God,
- 3:38Speaker 5: he'd be pissed if he'd be like, what the because
- 3:39Speaker 5: he'd be like, wait, Trarlie, the movie's at seven o'clock.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Why are we there? Oh the worry, dad, movies are
- 3:45Speaker 5: till fucking seven to thirty five at least now on
- 3:47Speaker 5: their websites are putting be aw please be advised this
- 3:50Speaker 5: movie will actually now start between this time and this time. Oh,
- 3:53Speaker 5: thank you, thank you so much for telling us maybe
- 3:56Speaker 5: when the movie will actually start. It's like ticket website
- 4:01Speaker 5: processing fees and bullshit, which thankfully now they actually have
- 4:03Speaker 5: to show you what the actual price is before you
- 4:04Speaker 5: actually even click on add to kart. Huh. So yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 5: slip re people will be coming sometime soon. Well we
- 4:13Speaker 5: can talk about so we're gonna talk about a little
- 4:15Speaker 5: funko thing because ha, We're also gonna talk about the
- 4:17Speaker 5: end of pay per views as we know it or
- 4:20Speaker 5: is it. So everyone listening knows that I am a
- 4:27Speaker 5: gigantic football fan. I have said before, I just I
- 4:34Speaker 5: enjoy watching college football, I enjoy watching professional football. I
- 4:39Speaker 5: enjoy it all. But as a lot of you have
- 4:45Speaker 5: come to known over the last couple of years, with
- 4:47Speaker 5: the change in entertainment, the change and just businesses and
- 4:50Speaker 5: all that stuff, everyone is cutting the cord in favor
- 4:55Speaker 5: of the streaming. But now said streaming is becoming even
- 5:00Speaker 5: more expensive than cable.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Uh.
- 5:03Speaker 5: The reason I'm bringing was because this might be a
- 5:05Speaker 5: huge problem with So as of right now, it is
- 5:07Speaker 5: August twenty eighth, twenty twenty five, six forty five in
- 5:14Speaker 5: the evening, and a week from today, actually less than
- 5:17Speaker 5: a week from actually a week from now, so we
- 5:20Speaker 5: a week in literally a week and thirty minutes. Les's
- 5:23Speaker 5: of the game time on Thursday. Football for Central Santa
- 5:26Speaker 5: taime has changed the Dallas Cowboys who recently traded today
- 5:31Speaker 5: Michael Parsons to do with the remake Packers?
- 5:33Speaker 4: What the fuck you couldn't end to.
- 5:35Speaker 5: The Bears and for not much mine, I add bullshit. Anyway,
- 5:39Speaker 5: I'm not gonna go down there. It's about seven days
- 5:43Speaker 5: from now the game will be live, I believe on
- 5:46Speaker 5: Amazon Prime.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Actually, let me make.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Sure I still have Prime Video. I know it's a
- 5:51Speaker 5: service that if you have Amazon Prime, you get Prime Video.
- 5:54Speaker 5: But then again, with how often these websites and streaming
- 5:56Speaker 5: services change their processes and charges and fees.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Who the fuck knows. Let me take a look. It's loading.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Here we go any second.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Now, this is a wonderful radio audio, all that jazz
- 6:10Speaker 5: point B. While I'm waiting for this load. Of course,
- 6:12Speaker 5: right when I start my spiel, it starts to actually
- 6:14Speaker 5: opens up, so yeah, a week from tonight the game
- 6:18Speaker 5: we broadcasted live.
- 6:21Speaker 4: On Prime I believe Prime Video.
- 6:25Speaker 5: So where am I.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Going with this?
- 6:28Speaker 5: Well, glad you asked. So there are now a thousand
- 6:35Speaker 5: different ways. And I'm sure if you're a football fan
- 6:37Speaker 5: you've read the stuff on internet articles.
- 6:40Speaker 6: Oh, there's so many different ways. You can't have to
- 6:43Speaker 6: buy all these services to watch the games. This is bullshit.
- 6:46Speaker 6: This sucks, which it does.
- 6:50Speaker 5: The problem and I agree that I have is they
- 6:54Speaker 5: have the resources again, and I say, and that's why
- 6:57Speaker 5: I made about the end of pay reviews, because we're
- 6:58Speaker 5: gonna go into like what the WWE and UFC recently did,
- 7:02Speaker 5: who are under the same arel called tiko. We live
- 7:06Speaker 5: in the world where people like to make money. Shocker,
- 7:11Speaker 5: I know, call me crazy. Didn't think there'd actually be
- 7:14Speaker 5: a thing. The problem is, and this is where it
- 7:18Speaker 5: goes back to it for all these people that are
- 7:20Speaker 5: complaining about all these different ways that you have to
- 7:24Speaker 5: pay essentially the NFL to watch these games, whether it
- 7:28Speaker 5: be and I have a list you get it up here.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Of course, soon as I oh, okay, I thought I
- 7:35Speaker 5: lost it for a second. There's all these ways you
- 7:39Speaker 5: have to watch these games. Okay, let's go down the pipeline.
- 7:47Speaker 5: By the way, take this with a grain of salt.
- 7:48Speaker 5: This doesn't include certain other streamings, just including like the
- 7:51Speaker 5: basic big ones, like the ESPN, especially their new at
- 7:54Speaker 5: they just launch but coordinate. There's an ESPN Fox Bundle,
- 7:57Speaker 5: which actually that's I think it's coming out here like
- 7:59Speaker 5: any second now, forty dollars a month, paramount plus which
- 8:03Speaker 5: is CBS thirteen dollars a month, Peacock the Cock eleven
- 8:10Speaker 5: dollars a month, which actually I believe they just raised
- 8:13Speaker 5: their prices like in the last week or so, and
- 8:16Speaker 5: I allegedly wink, wank, nudge, nudge. This one podcast I
- 8:19Speaker 5: listened to said the day they raised their prices, they
- 8:22Speaker 5: didn't even like tell people they raise their prices. And
- 8:25Speaker 5: then that right before they raised it, they made the knots.
- 8:27Speaker 5: But that day, so that's fun. Allegedly, Amazon Prime obviously
- 8:30Speaker 5: gotta a prime to pay for that, or you paid
- 8:31Speaker 5: just fifteen dollars a month just to watch it. NFL
- 8:33Speaker 5: Sunday tickets range from anywhere from three hundred dollars almost
- 8:37Speaker 5: five hundred dollars, and of course you got Netflix, and
- 8:41Speaker 5: that's not including things other packages eventually like Hulu or
- 8:47Speaker 5: other random TV package obviously depends in your area and
- 8:49Speaker 5: what streaming services you use or another perfect example too.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Let me see that actually this does Uh so we
- 8:54Speaker 5: are less Yeah, we are literally one week away, one
- 8:59Speaker 5: week away from the NFL kickoff. Oh and they didn't
- 9:05Speaker 5: beat you to give me before yesterday. YouTube and Fox
- 9:10Speaker 5: didn't have a deal to such a show Fox stuff
- 9:13Speaker 5: on YouTube TV.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Now.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Again, I don't know how that affects the NFL Sunday
- 9:16Speaker 5: package and shit and all that, but like that it's.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Included with that. But it's literally a week before the season.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Of I mean, all due respect to anyone who enjoys basketball,
- 9:29Speaker 5: all due respect to anyone who enjoys The Bachelor, all
- 9:31Speaker 5: to respect anyone who enjoys the Kardashians and all those
- 9:34Speaker 5: like reality shows. There is no bigger media conglomerate entertainment
- 9:40Speaker 5: monster when it comes to making money week to week
- 9:44Speaker 5: for a certain period of time than the NFL, not
- 9:46Speaker 5: the WWE, not the UFC, not even not even Tata herself.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Nothing beats it. A year over year they make more
- 9:55Speaker 5: and more money. This kind of went back to the
- 9:57Speaker 5: whole point, Like what I was saying, earlier. It's like,
- 9:58Speaker 5: like we bitch and moan about this. The problem is
- 10:02Speaker 5: people continuously take out their credit card.
- 10:05Speaker 4: I'm guilty this as well.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Continue to take out their credit card, put those numbers
- 10:09Speaker 5: in on the YouTube stuff. Then Sunday Ticket, which according
- 10:13Speaker 5: to my dad and he's used it, he loves it,
- 10:15Speaker 5: but you won't use it. Last year for the first
- 10:16Speaker 5: time you had Sunday Ticket, you got Peacock, you got Prime,
- 10:20Speaker 5: you got Netflix, and the issue I have with it,
- 10:22Speaker 5: and again, I don't know how this works a Sunday ticket,
- 10:24Speaker 5: which I probably should have looked into.
- 10:28Speaker 4: You don't get all these games.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Now I don't know how it works on Hulu anymore
- 10:34Speaker 5: because too Yeah, two seasons ago, I had Hulu Live TV.
- 10:40Speaker 5: That was expensive. It was like I think it was
- 10:41Speaker 5: like and that was all again. If everyone who knows Hulu,
- 10:44Speaker 5: it's a monster. It's got all these shows, different channels,
- 10:47Speaker 5: a whole nine yards. But it was live TV. Now,
- 10:53Speaker 5: as I said, I'm a giant fan of football, but
- 10:57Speaker 5: I don't need to have access to every single game.
- 10:59Speaker 5: That's just my opinion. I'm old school. I'm okay, what
- 11:03Speaker 5: what what? What games? Do I get this Sunday other
- 11:06Speaker 5: than the Bear game. I mean pretty much, if you're
- 11:09Speaker 5: a mid if you're in the Midwest, you know it.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Bears pretty much always play at noon, and then the
- 11:13Speaker 5: Cowboys play at three thirty, and then you have the
- 11:15Speaker 5: Sunday Nighter game at seven o'clock. That's just the way
- 11:20Speaker 5: it's been my entire life. It would it would be
- 11:24Speaker 5: what it would usually be. Trying to think you'd have
- 11:26Speaker 5: a Bear game at noon plus an AFC game at
- 11:29Speaker 5: the exact same time on CBS, which would suck. You
- 11:32Speaker 5: would rarely have a double header on CBS. It would
- 11:35Speaker 5: always be Dallas. It would always be the Cowboys at
- 11:37Speaker 5: three thirty on Fox, which sucks.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Because I can't see the fucking Cowboys.
- 11:42Speaker 5: But at the same time too, it's just like, hey,
- 11:43Speaker 5: they're They're always America's team, kiss my ass. But like
- 11:49Speaker 5: they also, while not in the playoffs, are still well competitive,
- 11:56Speaker 5: and then you have the Sunday nighter game and the
- 11:58Speaker 5: majority er I'm just going through, just just throwing out there,
- 12:05Speaker 5: low ball. I really want to call it. I can't
- 12:07Speaker 5: give you a number, but yeah, were there's some weekends
- 12:09Speaker 5: Whe'm like, oh, this game sucks. Why do we get
- 12:11Speaker 5: this game right? Oh, but again, I kind of like
- 12:15Speaker 5: not having it's gonna sound where I kind of like
- 12:16Speaker 5: not having that freedom now again, obviously, if you're have
- 12:19Speaker 5: Sunday ticket and it's like, hey, your three thirty game is,
- 12:24Speaker 5: let's see who the first the Tennessee.
- 12:26Speaker 6: The Tennis hi Welcome live from Nashville, Tennessee. It is
- 12:30Speaker 6: the Tennessee Titans versus the Cleveland Browns. Who the fuck
- 12:35Speaker 6: put this game on? Is a national game of the week, That'd.
- 12:38Speaker 5: Be a great fucking question. But obviously, eventage with Sunday
- 12:41Speaker 5: ticket is you can watch sounds like a Sunday ticket
- 12:43Speaker 5: promo here. Sorry Shags allow, but you can watch any
- 12:46Speaker 5: game you want, just go to a different game. I
- 12:49Speaker 5: always kind of like not having that choice. It's like, okay,
- 12:51Speaker 5: like this is the game. I get cool, I'll watch it,
- 12:52Speaker 5: or I can go cut the grass or start making dinner,
- 12:57Speaker 5: you know what I mean. Obviously, college football it's different
- 13:00Speaker 5: because there's so many games. It's such a giant pool
- 13:04Speaker 5: of games to watch. There's so many different channels to watch.
- 13:06Speaker 5: I'm sorry the fact that like Tomorrow Saturday it's kick off,
- 13:09Speaker 5: it's Ohio State in Texas. Sorry, my cats are making
- 13:14Speaker 5: wear noises. The fact it's Ohio State in Texas this Saturday,
- 13:18Speaker 5: big big matchup, the top two teams in the nation
- 13:22Speaker 5: going at it at eleven am. What the fuck is that? Anyway?
- 13:27Speaker 5: Going back to pro football, Like the problem is like
- 13:31Speaker 5: we can sit here, we can bitch about how there's
- 13:35Speaker 5: twenty different ways that you have to pay now to
- 13:37Speaker 5: watch all these games, Like, oh, I should have never
- 13:39Speaker 5: just cut the cord. The bottom line is, we're still
- 13:43Speaker 5: gonna take out our credit card, just like when I
- 13:45Speaker 5: could when I was on here a couple of weeks
- 13:47Speaker 5: ago talking about wrestling tickets. We're still gonna take out
- 13:49Speaker 5: our credit cards. We're gonna put in our number.
- 13:52Speaker 4: The what is it serious? There's four sets.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Of numbers, and there's four you're gonna put in your
- 13:57Speaker 3: security code. You're gonna put in your Billy manddress. Don't
- 14:00Speaker 3: forget to put in the expiration data otherwise I'll get you.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Don't forget to about your name right too, because most
- 14:04Speaker 3: websites actually have that shit.
- 14:07Speaker 5: And we're gonna pay for it. Am I gonna do
- 14:10Speaker 5: it this year? No? I plan to go visit my
- 14:13Speaker 5: wife a couple of times. And also just my logic
- 14:17Speaker 5: is I enjoy I love my house. We're doing a
- 14:21Speaker 5: lot of work on our house though, and I know
- 14:24Speaker 5: it's someday it's going to I want this to be
- 14:26Speaker 5: the hangout where we watch football games and all that stuff.
- 14:29Speaker 5: But we live in an age now, thankfully, where if
- 14:33Speaker 5: you want to go see a football game, most bars
- 14:36Speaker 5: or restaurants, you can just go to any sports bar,
- 14:39Speaker 5: or how even chain bar, like a certain giant animal
- 14:45Speaker 5: that has chicken wings, or a certain place Happy Drew,
- 14:49Speaker 5: or a certain place where you can play games with
- 14:51Speaker 5: coins and shit while also watching football while having a
- 14:54Speaker 5: cold one. I'm learning there's all these different ways you
- 14:58Speaker 5: can watch games. Now. Obviously I don't condet you.
- 14:59Speaker 6: I would say, hey, if you've had anything we've had tonight,
- 15:01Speaker 6: please beet home safe.
- 15:03Speaker 5: That's not a here, a noo there. But the point
- 15:08Speaker 5: I'm trying to get now ten minutes later is because
- 15:11Speaker 5: I had, uh what was it? There's a show? And
- 15:14Speaker 5: I actually like NBC. I like their coverage of football. They're,
- 15:19Speaker 5: for one, not afraid to use foul language. They're not
- 15:22Speaker 5: afraid that they except no further words, which I can appreciate.
- 15:27Speaker 5: But they don't sugarcoat shit and NBC is one of
- 15:31Speaker 5: the top you know, spotlights in the NFL every Sunday,
- 15:35Speaker 5: you know, Sunday Night football Ry Underwood, like it's the
- 15:41Speaker 5: song waiting all day for Sunday night. It's a there's
- 15:44Speaker 5: a reason, there's a theme song that they have.
- 15:46Speaker 4: You know.
- 15:47Speaker 5: Fox has the you know, of course, the famous NFL
- 15:50Speaker 5: song like everyone knows every you play the first two
- 15:52Speaker 5: seconds of that beat.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Everyone knows what it is.
- 15:54Speaker 5: Same with CBS Hell, same with CBS with college football.
- 15:58Speaker 4: They all have those little beats.
- 16:00Speaker 5: But NBC Football literally has its own theme song that like,
- 16:04Speaker 5: you don't have to be a football fan, you know
- 16:07Speaker 5: that song because everyone's waiting all day for Sunday night.
- 16:12Speaker 5: And I like how they bring up sometimes that it's
- 16:15Speaker 5: only gone worse that we have the technology today where
- 16:21Speaker 5: and the reason they don't do it is because they
- 16:24Speaker 5: probably they don't think they make as much money. We're
- 16:26Speaker 5: why can't we just pay a fee to just watch
- 16:28Speaker 5: our team? Why can't I Why can't I send I'm
- 16:33Speaker 5: in the uh the Chicago area. I mean, obviously Fox
- 16:38Speaker 5: pretty much has the NFC package essentially. Why can't I
- 16:41Speaker 5: give Fox one hundred and twenty bucks or one hundred bucks.
- 16:44Speaker 5: You said one hundred and twenty chucks, so you can
- 16:46Speaker 5: give us that. Okay, fine, we'll give you one hundred
- 16:49Speaker 5: and twenty bucks for seventeen games. Why can't I pay
- 16:54Speaker 5: just to have all the Chicago Bear games? Why do
- 16:58Speaker 5: I have to keep doing this whole? Okay, I gotta
- 16:59Speaker 5: make sure I have the right streaming network I thankfully
- 17:02Speaker 5: have now. Obviously, if you have cable, you still have
- 17:06Speaker 5: the cord. The odds that you won't be able to
- 17:09Speaker 5: watch your game are pretty slim, except for certain games
- 17:11Speaker 5: where maybe they're only on Prime or the ESPN thing.
- 17:14Speaker 5: There's times where I've been here in the Chicago area
- 17:17Speaker 5: and it's, oh, it told's to be on channel seven ABC.
- 17:20Speaker 5: It's not, And there's other people in Chicago they're gonna
- 17:22Speaker 5: test to that. Oh no, it's on channel two O six.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I don't have two o six.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Well sorry, I guess you can just listen to six
- 17:30Speaker 5: seventy or what are the fuck channel it's on now
- 17:32Speaker 5: on the radio and AM, which doesn't work at the
- 17:34Speaker 5: time in Chicago. It just doesn't make any sense, like,
- 17:39Speaker 5: why can't again, you can offer the Sunday ticket where
- 17:42Speaker 5: it's like, hey, here's this giant pool.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Of all these games you can watch.
- 17:47Speaker 5: And again they'll be like, well we wouldn't make as
- 17:48Speaker 5: much money. Okay, fine, then you.
- 17:52Speaker 4: You figure it. It's the NFL.
- 17:54Speaker 5: They're gonna figure it out. They're gonna figure out a
- 17:56Speaker 5: way to make more money. They always have, they always will.
- 17:58Speaker 5: They are the I mean, I don't know this for
- 18:01Speaker 5: a fact. Other may like video games, Like what other
- 18:05Speaker 5: entertainment juggernaut in the United States makes more money.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 18:11Speaker 5: You know, you could see the movies, but like the
- 18:15Speaker 5: the amount of money they put into movies with budgets
- 18:19Speaker 5: and shit doesn't always give you that return. Case in point,
- 18:21Speaker 5: the Superman movie, while it made a good amount of money,
- 18:25Speaker 5: allegedly it made a profit, but not by much. Hell,
- 18:31Speaker 5: this Avengers movie they're making, they're making both Avengers movies
- 18:34Speaker 5: back to back, and supposed me by not even it's
- 18:36Speaker 5: they say it's something close, it's the biggest budget of
- 18:38Speaker 5: all time. Well, when you see who's in the movie,
- 18:40Speaker 5: it's like no doubt. It's literally every every other person
- 18:43Speaker 5: is a top actor. Like, yeah, you got Robert Downey,
- 18:48Speaker 5: that's great. You also got Ian McKellen, you got Patrick Stewart,
- 18:50Speaker 5: you got, like it's just the fucking and there's as
- 18:53Speaker 5: it's been out there for months, but like like legitimately
- 18:56Speaker 5: press release months but just makes no sense. Why our
- 19:01Speaker 5: hell perfect example, beautiful wife, My beautiful wife living in
- 19:05Speaker 5: Europe working her ass off right now with our beautiful dog,
- 19:09Speaker 5: awesome dog, Tully. Miss them both very much, But why
- 19:13Speaker 5: is it like, oh, hey, I'm out here, why can't
- 19:17Speaker 5: you know, use a VPN, Like why can't I just
- 19:19Speaker 5: use a VPN and pay to have the Chicago Bears
- 19:23Speaker 5: or like kind of like a team that like we
- 19:24Speaker 5: kind of like like my I mean, I've always I'm
- 19:27Speaker 5: everyone that knows I'm a huge Chicago Bears fan. Another
- 19:30Speaker 5: team Like if I always wants to ask like if
- 19:32Speaker 5: I ever had a team, I would back up, who
- 19:33Speaker 5: would it be? And I'd say the Raiders. That's just
- 19:36Speaker 5: who would be. Now, some things have happened in our
- 19:37Speaker 5: life kind of made me go, I don't know, but
- 19:39Speaker 5: that's just it won't change because that to where we
- 19:41Speaker 5: took at the stadium was phenomenal. But like it's like, oh, hey,
- 19:46Speaker 5: we're in Europe for three months working on stuff, Like
- 19:51Speaker 5: why can't I just pay to have? Because think about it,
- 19:55Speaker 5: because that's the thing. People would do that too. It
- 19:57Speaker 5: wouldn't just be oh, hey, I'm a Chicago when living
- 20:00Speaker 5: in South Beach. Or perfect example, here we go, my
- 20:04Speaker 5: friend Eric, who's been the show a couple of times. Hi, buddy,
- 20:07Speaker 5: hope you're well why is it that he's a guy
- 20:10Speaker 5: who's in Chicago is the fan of Sorry?
- 20:15Speaker 4: Eric?
- 20:17Speaker 5: Well, is he a fan of the Niners or the
- 20:20Speaker 5: or the Dolphins? It makes sense? Oh, I'm thinking he
- 20:23Speaker 5: might be a fan of the Niners anyway, either one.
- 20:26Speaker 5: He's a guy in Chicago who is not a fan
- 20:32Speaker 5: of that certain team. Why can't he pay a fee
- 20:38Speaker 5: pay per view essentially to watch all seventeen of the
- 20:41Speaker 5: San Francisco i'mretty sure it's nights watch all seventeen of
- 20:45Speaker 5: the San Francisco forty nine er games. Why does he
- 20:48Speaker 5: have to do this? You know what? Essentially, why does
- 20:52Speaker 5: he have to do this kind of like Russian roulette
- 20:55Speaker 5: of like, you know, if you have a basic cab
- 20:57Speaker 5: or just a basic like streaming thing with television, of
- 21:00Speaker 5: not knowing what games Now obviously nowadays you can check,
- 21:03Speaker 5: but most people don't check. A lot of people, I
- 21:05Speaker 5: guarantee you they just turn on their TV and they go,
- 21:07Speaker 5: all right, other than the Bears, who else is on
- 21:08Speaker 5: the day before my parents cut the court. They knew
- 21:11Speaker 5: both of them all my majority my family on Eliza, Wisconsin.
- 21:13Speaker 5: They got the Packers, and they would probably the Cowboys,
- 21:19Speaker 5: and then they would get they would know who the
- 21:21Speaker 5: other AFC game was, and then they get the Sunday nighter.
- 21:26Speaker 5: So why can't Eric in Chicago simply turn on his
- 21:32Speaker 5: little forty nine er?
- 21:34Speaker 4: It is niners, I love anybody.
- 21:36Speaker 5: I thought about it for a second. I got you,
- 21:38Speaker 5: why can't Eric turn on his forty nine San Francisco
- 21:41Speaker 5: forty nine er app in Chicago and as much? And
- 21:45Speaker 5: I'm sure And again, I know NFL has apps and
- 21:47Speaker 5: shit where you can watch the game anywhere, but it's like,
- 21:50Speaker 5: just let me pay a fee to watch a perfect
- 21:54Speaker 5: example someone who's not doing this the greatest way, Chicago Cups.
- 21:59Speaker 5: I don't know how streaming works at the MLB and
- 22:01Speaker 5: all that shit, but a lot of people in Illinois
- 22:04Speaker 5: are not too happy, and it's kind of become, unfortunately
- 22:06Speaker 5: the normal. It's like a lot of people don't even
- 22:07Speaker 5: know that the Cubs were on WGM, which makes me
- 22:09Speaker 5: sound old saying that, but like you went to those
- 22:14Speaker 5: mort Key network, which when the Cubs are not playing,
- 22:17Speaker 5: the stuff they broadcast is hilarious.
- 22:19Speaker 4: It's like, what the fuck, who the fuck is watching this?
- 22:21Speaker 5: Anyway, go Cubs go, but they're doing it right now.
- 22:26Speaker 5: But anyway, I mean every time, it's just like every time,
- 22:30Speaker 5: like I watched the Cubs, say Lewis, but then like
- 22:32Speaker 5: I'll just be going through like social media and it's like, oh,
- 22:34Speaker 5: hey the Cubs won, even though I didn't, you know,
- 22:37Speaker 5: do shit. I was like, oh, hey, the Cups are seven.
- 22:41Speaker 5: I mean I know they were, like I think what
- 22:42Speaker 5: they're second and third right now in the central Pretty
- 22:45Speaker 5: sure that, yeah, I mean everyone knows the Brewers are first.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure the Cubs right behind him, not right
- 22:48Speaker 5: behind them, but maybe finally close. Anyway, moving along, but
- 22:52Speaker 5: we got console and we sign up for console from
- 22:54Speaker 5: them that we're still doing this and anyway, so actually
- 22:57Speaker 5: yeah we are second. Good good calling me? Okay, why
- 23:01Speaker 5: is it Eric or myself? Can't pay the NFL one
- 23:04Speaker 5: hundred and twenty bucks not the foot what was it
- 23:07Speaker 5: Sunday ticket? What I say was three of five hundred dollars?
- 23:12Speaker 5: Why can't I pay them one hundred and twenty bucks
- 23:17Speaker 5: for the Chicago Bears season? Why can't Eric pay them
- 23:22Speaker 5: one hundred and twenty bucks for the San Francisco forty
- 23:24Speaker 5: nine er season? Why can't my wife who's in Europe
- 23:29Speaker 5: pay them that to watch the Chicago Bears in Europe
- 23:34Speaker 5: and said she has to rely on whatever shooting stars
- 23:36Speaker 5: they have available there for the NFL and also just
- 23:38Speaker 5: see what she might get on TV if she's lucky,
- 23:40Speaker 5: even with that seven hour time difference. But no, it's
- 23:44Speaker 5: you gotta pay us all this money for all these
- 23:46Speaker 5: shooting service And again I get it, it's all about making money,
- 23:49Speaker 5: but it's like if you offer just that too, you
- 23:53Speaker 5: would make money. And now was Yeah, some stoomers are
- 23:55Speaker 5: like Peacock or I'm just going off like what I've
- 23:59Speaker 5: read about like lower streaming services, Like I mean, I
- 24:03Speaker 5: don't know what paramounts do right now, but like they're
- 24:05Speaker 5: just spending money like crazy because they're trying to get
- 24:07Speaker 5: more people to watch their products. Like South Park apparently
- 24:11Speaker 5: has been doing phenomenal because they're doing this. They just
- 24:13Speaker 5: gave them a billion dollars and plus they also just
- 24:15Speaker 5: got bought by by skynts anyway. So whatever, the two
- 24:19Speaker 5: lowest streaming services are, hell of anything, you give it
- 24:23Speaker 5: to them. Hi for all your exclusive Chicago Bears or
- 24:27Speaker 5: green Baby or Washington Commanders all you know, watch all
- 24:33Speaker 5: watch your team exclusively on peacock. There you go, and
- 24:40Speaker 5: you know what, I'm gonna be an asshole to be
- 24:42Speaker 5: even more greedy. You do what the UFC did with ESPN.
- 24:46Speaker 5: You pay your monthly fee for ESPN, and then if
- 24:51Speaker 5: you want to watch a pay per view you have
- 24:52Speaker 5: to pay a full pay per view rate on top
- 24:54Speaker 5: of what you're already paying with ESPN. Yes, that's how
- 24:58Speaker 5: the UFC ESPN did it. It wasn't just like, oh,
- 25:01Speaker 5: hey let me go through my channel. Oh I can
- 25:02Speaker 5: want UFC for eighty five bucks. Oh McGregor's finding, I'll
- 25:05Speaker 5: pay for that. No, it's oh, you're paying twenty five
- 25:07Speaker 5: whatever ESPN plus was. I was like, oh, you want
- 25:10Speaker 5: U s UFC, Okay, great, you gotta pay us eighty
- 25:11Speaker 5: five dollars. Wait, I don't get a discount. You want
- 25:14Speaker 5: have ESPN? Nope, it doesn't make any sense. Why we
- 25:23Speaker 5: can't again, why can't we have nice saints? You're telling
- 25:25Speaker 5: me that not one of these streaming services would offer
- 25:28Speaker 5: an arm and a leg and then another leg to
- 25:30Speaker 5: go to the NFL to go, hey, let's do this,
- 25:34Speaker 5: take away our games, take them away whatever. Like let's
- 25:37Speaker 5: say let's say per Amazon, they get what one game
- 25:40Speaker 5: a week, take Amazon away and you go, hey, no
- 25:45Speaker 5: more Thursday Night Football. Get sell it to whoever whoever
- 25:48Speaker 5: you want. Instead, we want to be the sole provider
- 25:51Speaker 5: where people with help with Amazon Prime because it's going
- 25:56Speaker 5: to boost their prime numbers. People with Amazon Prime, they
- 25:59Speaker 5: may be paying the extra ten bucks a month or
- 26:01Speaker 5: some shit like that for their team. Oh wait, great,
- 26:07Speaker 5: So I can go on Amazon Prime and I can
- 26:09Speaker 5: watch all the Chicago Bear, San Francisco forty nine ers
- 26:12Speaker 5: in Las Vegas Raider games, and then the other the
- 26:16Speaker 5: other twenty or was it thirty two? The other let
- 26:19Speaker 5: me do math here at twenty nine teams, I don't
- 26:21Speaker 5: have a headche pa peralt It's okay. Other twenty nine
- 26:22Speaker 5: teams are locked. Great, and then if I actually click
- 26:25Speaker 5: on them, you're based on your account access. You do
- 26:28Speaker 5: not have permission to access this content. No, no, no, no,
- 26:31Speaker 5: no bullshit, It wouldn't be that difficult. Then you keep
- 26:36Speaker 5: the other ones and what's gonna happen. Everyone's gonna go
- 26:39Speaker 5: to the Amazon Prime and do it. But then certain
- 26:42Speaker 5: people who are like, well, shit, huh, I don't have
- 26:47Speaker 5: I could watch all the Chicago Bear games. That's one
- 26:51Speaker 5: game a week, okay, but I can't watch because we
- 26:55Speaker 5: are football. Even people who aren't football crazy watch football
- 27:00Speaker 5: because it's the fall. It's what we do. It's really nice.
- 27:04Speaker 5: We wake up early, some of us go to church,
- 27:06Speaker 5: some of us make breakfast and make some really good
- 27:08Speaker 5: apple cider. And then the people come back from church
- 27:10Speaker 5: and the people who already have had a bunch of
- 27:12Speaker 5: applesider give people that apple sider because they're trying to
- 27:14Speaker 5: get them to catch up. And shit, you know they've
- 27:16Speaker 5: had some church wine.
- 27:17Speaker 4: And then we watch football at kickoff.
- 27:19Speaker 5: That's it. And these people were paying exclusively. I mean,
- 27:23Speaker 5: why the fuck am I not telling Jeff Bezos right now?
- 27:24Speaker 5: But because you know I have his phone number right here,
- 27:27Speaker 5: But like you simply give them this opportunity to go, hey, great, huh,
- 27:31Speaker 5: all right, I have I have all this access to
- 27:34Speaker 5: Chicago Bears the entire season. Cool, perfect, forty five bucks
- 27:37Speaker 5: for the season. Great, Okay, now, huh shit, I really
- 27:41Speaker 5: want to watch the Sunday night football games. Okay, great,
- 27:45Speaker 5: I'll get Peacock. Hmmm. Cool. I also need Monday night
- 27:50Speaker 5: football because primetime games usually get the better games, because well,
- 27:55Speaker 5: that's what the primetime games are for. Uh okay, great.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Now I'm paying for ESPN's new DTC what's called directors
- 28:02Speaker 5: because the direct to customer consumer app. Cool, right there,
- 28:08Speaker 5: you're making these places are what making. Let's say, let's
- 28:12Speaker 5: say you do the ESPN Fox there's forty. You do
- 28:14Speaker 5: the Peacock. That's we'll say twenty with. If you do
- 28:17Speaker 5: the top tier one with no ads and shit, that's
- 28:20Speaker 5: sixty right there, plus tax probably out seventy. And then
- 28:23Speaker 5: you do your Amazon Prime one for ten twenty bucks
- 28:26Speaker 5: a month. There you go.
- 28:27Speaker 4: You're paying one.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Hundred bucks a month for football ballpark. People would still
- 28:34Speaker 5: pay for it. And you know there's god be those
- 28:39Speaker 5: insane people out there who would pay for multiple.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Teams at once.
- 28:44Speaker 5: You can't tell me a household where it's like a
- 28:47Speaker 5: which I don't get. Why, no offense to the people.
- 28:50Speaker 5: I know they're like that a bear fan of Packer
- 28:52Speaker 5: fan marry each other. Not that true love evercomes all.
- 28:56Speaker 5: But you have a Bear fan of Packer for that,
- 28:58Speaker 5: marry each other, or or help Eric and Mahill's case,
- 29:01Speaker 5: you got a Bear fan and Niner fan that marry
- 29:02Speaker 5: each other. There you go. They both go for the
- 29:05Speaker 5: packages the Bear, No, they both go for Bears and Niners.
- 29:08Speaker 5: There you go. And then they go for the other
- 29:10Speaker 5: streaming services as well. And you throw the and I
- 29:14Speaker 5: hate to say it, you throw the fuck a bunch
- 29:17Speaker 5: of ads on there. There you go. I just made
- 29:19Speaker 5: you a billion dollars.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Lake County.
- 29:24Speaker 5: I'm not gonna say there rest for the for that check,
- 29:27Speaker 5: please thank you. It's not that difficult. I just it's
- 29:33Speaker 5: getting frustrating because people you hear, especially today's age, oh
- 29:40Speaker 5: people they're eventually what's socially the rest saying, oh, they're
- 29:42Speaker 5: eventually gonna price themselves out. Yeah, the keyboard is eventually,
- 29:49Speaker 5: but it's not now. People will literally cut corners to
- 29:54Speaker 5: find a way they get their football. Like I'm a
- 30:00Speaker 5: I heard wrestling fan, but it's like, hey, I can
- 30:02Speaker 5: go to this really cool wrestling show, or I can
- 30:04Speaker 5: get the football package. I'm probably gonna do the football package.
- 30:09Speaker 5: That's eight to twelve hours of content of entertainment for
- 30:12Speaker 5: one day compared to two to three hours of I
- 30:14Speaker 5: don't maybe maybe something cool, I don't know. I mean
- 30:18Speaker 5: the show I'm going to here next Friday, I'm going
- 30:20Speaker 5: to see John Sea for the last time in Chicago
- 30:22Speaker 5: because it's like, it's like, as my wife and I said, well,
- 30:24Speaker 5: we asked, like, don't we gotta see that it's the
- 30:26Speaker 5: last time.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Allegedly I think it is the last time.
- 30:29Speaker 5: But like people are willing to pay for this stuff
- 30:35Speaker 5: of and the thing. The other problem I have with
- 30:37Speaker 5: this is when certain streaming sers like oh no, like
- 30:40Speaker 5: all of a sudden, like, oh no, we're not having
- 30:43Speaker 5: as many streamers, We're losing all this money because people
- 30:45Speaker 5: are buying are our app anymore? And shit like that.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Then people who don't have anything to do with it
- 30:50Speaker 5: get fired, and that ship busses me off. That's a
- 30:54Speaker 5: different conversation, different podcasts. But again, there is zero reason
- 30:59Speaker 5: that the NFU and by the way, not just the NFL,
- 31:01Speaker 5: the NFL, the NBA, and again, like I said, I'm
- 31:04Speaker 5: sure there's ways on like the NFL APP and all
- 31:08Speaker 5: this stuff, you can just you know, you pay for
- 31:10Speaker 5: the service or whatever it is, and you can just
- 31:12Speaker 5: watch your team but just put in one of these
- 31:16Speaker 5: major apps where I can go on my television or
- 31:18Speaker 5: I can literally grab the microphone and go, hey, such
- 31:21Speaker 5: and such, turn on Amazon Prime, Bear Game, Boom as I.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Hit my mic Not that difficult.
- 31:30Speaker 5: And of course when I'd say that, it will go
- 31:31Speaker 5: sorry trying to connect. Did do you mean purchase more
- 31:36Speaker 5: Bear claus? Like no, I meant turned on the Bear game.
- 31:38Speaker 5: But whatever, it's right there, and again and again the
- 31:47Speaker 5: smart thing the NFL is probably gonna do. That's probably
- 31:49Speaker 5: gonna be their next big thing.
- 31:51Speaker 4: They you know they did.
- 31:52Speaker 5: They got away from the Sunday ticket on the cable.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Now it's on YouTube. They have all these other streaming
- 31:57Speaker 5: services and stuff like that. And again I don't have
- 31:59Speaker 5: Sunday Ticket. I don't know if you can watch Prime
- 32:02Speaker 5: stuff on YouTube. I don't know if you can watch
- 32:04Speaker 5: money football, and I don't know. I'm gonna assume so.
- 32:08Speaker 5: But based on this foxing, who knows? Because like what
- 32:10Speaker 5: the NFL? What Fox and YouTube to make this deal?
- 32:12Speaker 5: Then I'm paying this full price for YouTube TV and
- 32:14Speaker 5: I don't get the NFL Sunday package. That's bullshit. And
- 32:16Speaker 5: I mean, just like there's too much. There's too much
- 32:19Speaker 5: red tape. But it's like literally just put all the
- 32:22Speaker 5: teams in one spot and be like, you you want
- 32:25Speaker 5: the Dallas Cowboys. Pay this?
- 32:27Speaker 4: You you live.
- 32:29Speaker 5: In fucking Montana, You live in fucking you live in
- 32:34Speaker 5: fucking Yellowstone. But for some reason you're a New York
- 32:37Speaker 5: Jets fan. First off, sorry, but you want this. Here
- 32:40Speaker 5: you go, here's your feet. Pay this. You can watch
- 32:42Speaker 5: the Jets games from your giant cottage in Montana. Cool,
- 32:49Speaker 5: and you're gonna make money. It's it's literally another reason
- 32:52Speaker 5: to make money, which which I'm saying this is probably
- 32:55Speaker 5: gonna be their next big thing once these like streaming
- 32:58Speaker 5: deals go eventually expire, which I think is like now
- 33:00Speaker 5: for like.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Another fucking seven eight years.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Oh so.
- 33:07Speaker 5: Fuck anyway, moving along, it's my spiel on how I
- 33:14Speaker 5: get annoyed with streaming more streaming stuff. So kind of
- 33:17Speaker 5: went back to the whole like, how is paper view
- 33:19Speaker 5: that kind of thing? It isn't it is because like
- 33:21Speaker 5: I said, I think the only thing people are willing
- 33:22Speaker 5: to pay for on a monthly base essentially is the NFL.
- 33:27Speaker 5: I was the NBA still like they still make money.
- 33:31Speaker 5: As much as I love hockey, doesn't make as much
- 33:32Speaker 5: money as the NFL or NBA, but UFC signed a
- 33:40Speaker 5: seven point let.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Me uh let me make sure I uh get this right.
- 33:46Speaker 5: Excuse me, let me clear my throat here. Oh yeah,
- 33:52Speaker 5: seven point seven billion dollars for paramount to go on
- 33:58Speaker 5: paramount for seven years. The UFC is going to Paramount plus.
- 34:03Speaker 5: Oh and you're ready for the kicker. So going back
- 34:05Speaker 5: to what I said, how you had to pay your
- 34:08Speaker 5: ESPN fee, your monthly subscription ESPN plus or I pretty
- 34:11Speaker 5: sure was ESPN plus pay ESPN plus. You pay your
- 34:14Speaker 5: seven dollars, eight dollars, ten dollars, twelve dollars, twenty dollars,
- 34:17Speaker 5: whatever the fuck dollars. You pay all that, and then
- 34:20Speaker 5: it's time for the USC pay review and it's eighty.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Five dollars of pay per view.
- 34:25Speaker 5: What I'm going to discount? Nope, fuck you now they'll
- 34:30Speaker 5: be on paramount. Pay your paramount fee and then you pay.
- 34:34Speaker 5: Oh wait, that's right, you don't have to pay anything more. So,
- 34:38Speaker 5: the UFC has moved completely away from the pay per
- 34:40Speaker 5: view model, which is a shocking which again, if anything,
- 34:43Speaker 5: and again that shows where the status of pay per
- 34:47Speaker 5: view and sports is going. The USC and here's my
- 34:51Speaker 5: personal thinon they had to do this. It was like
- 34:53Speaker 5: UFC has been kind of like in this weird spot
- 34:55Speaker 5: where it's like, well, they really don't have money stars
- 34:57Speaker 5: right now. Anytime that start does start to develop, the
- 35:00Speaker 5: either get hurt or something happens, whether then they lose
- 35:02Speaker 5: their steam, etcetera, etcetera.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Like I mean, other than like.
- 35:07Speaker 5: What Tom aspinall, I really can't think of it's a
- 35:09Speaker 5: heavyweight champ. I can't think of really any other big
- 35:12Speaker 5: fighter right now. Again, I'm just a and here's the thing.
- 35:15Speaker 5: I'm a casual UFC guy. I'm not a diehard. But
- 35:20Speaker 5: like my wife is a casual football fan. She knows
- 35:24Speaker 5: who Patrick Mahomes is. She knows Travis Kelcey, she knows
- 35:28Speaker 5: uh Jason Kelsey, she knows j Herbert, she knows that,
- 35:33Speaker 5: you know, you know the big names. Her and I
- 35:36Speaker 5: don't watch the NBA, but we know Love Wrong James,
- 35:40Speaker 5: we know Steph Curry, we know those people. That's who
- 35:43Speaker 5: the UFC is trying to.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Get.
- 35:47Speaker 5: Because you get the casual, you get them to turn
- 35:51Speaker 5: into the hardcore, and then they bring in more people
- 35:54Speaker 5: to watch your product, which is why whenever fights like
- 35:58Speaker 5: Connor McGregor, Ronda Rousey, John Jones, Kabib, the d As Brothers,
- 36:03Speaker 5: help Cyborg.
- 36:04Speaker 4: When you have these people.
- 36:07Speaker 5: What the fuck sorry my cast being where when you
- 36:09Speaker 5: have these people that have a name, a household name
- 36:12Speaker 5: as they call it, more and more people are going
- 36:14Speaker 5: to watch. But the UFC has had this thing where
- 36:17Speaker 5: it's like, ah, did do well? I don't know now
- 36:20Speaker 5: in this it's and it's all. The other problem they're having,
- 36:23Speaker 5: the same with countere, is that you're paying all this
- 36:27Speaker 5: money for the pay per view, but yet they're not
- 36:30Speaker 5: seeing as much of a return on it because people
- 36:32Speaker 5: go to stream websites, illegal ones to watch the fights
- 36:35Speaker 5: because again, people don't want to pay, and that's the
- 36:38Speaker 5: only thing with UFC. And also, I mean that's the
- 36:40Speaker 5: thing with all sports. On the wrestling, people don't want
- 36:43Speaker 5: to pay for something that might be shit. And that's
- 36:48Speaker 5: the gamble you get whenever you watch a sporting event,
- 36:50Speaker 5: there is the event it may be shit, whether it
- 36:52Speaker 5: be due to injury or especially in the UFC, a
- 36:54Speaker 5: guy gets popped for something or other circumstances beyond the
- 36:58Speaker 5: UFC's control. And unfortunately it happens a lot more than
- 37:01Speaker 5: people realize, but that's just the way of pre pro
- 37:05Speaker 5: sports works. But with this, it's gonna simply be come
- 37:08Speaker 5: out of Paramount Plus and watch our fights. I'm actually
- 37:11Speaker 5: thinking about getting it because I'm like, shit, that's a
- 37:13Speaker 5: good fucking deal. I get this whole network of Paramount
- 37:16Speaker 5: plus plus football games and the UFC, and I'm gonna
- 37:22Speaker 5: pay it. I mean, other than paying your subscription, I'm
- 37:25Speaker 5: gonna pay anything more. No more eighty five dollars for
- 37:28Speaker 5: pay per views, no more, no more. You know, whenever
- 37:30Speaker 5: you have like a fight night with your friends, you're
- 37:32Speaker 5: all you know, you're all venmoing the one host. You know,
- 37:35Speaker 5: here's five bucks, here's twenty bucks. Hey I brought the tacos.
- 37:38Speaker 5: Here's ten bucks. Thought like, no more of that shit. Now,
- 37:40Speaker 5: just bring the food and let's have a good time.
- 37:44Speaker 5: It's a smart move to make, which is what they're.
- 37:47Speaker 4: CEO of TKO. That's the company that essentially owns.
- 37:49Speaker 5: Both Said and the W which is crazy for me
- 37:52Speaker 5: to say. They signed with ESPN. They're still with Netflix
- 37:56Speaker 5: for law. They're still with which fuck oh my god,
- 37:58Speaker 5: like name and network are not. They're still with Netflix
- 38:01Speaker 5: for raw. They're with NBC comcasts for SmackDown, they're with
- 38:05Speaker 5: fucking who CW for developmental and now they're now all
- 38:08Speaker 5: their pls hate payer reviews are now gonna be at ESPN,
- 38:14Speaker 5: which that's for me crazy to say. And this deal
- 38:18Speaker 5: is so insane. It was to start till fucking next March,
- 38:21Speaker 5: toward the mosque goes, oh, fuck you, let's pay forbody.
- 38:23Speaker 5: Now they're starting it next month. They said, fuck you peakuck,
- 38:31Speaker 5: fuck that bird, and now they're gonna start on ESPN
- 38:35Speaker 5: next month with a pay per view. I don't watch
- 38:39Speaker 5: all the wrestling pay per reviews. I will five time.
- 38:42Speaker 5: I'll watch wrestle Mania, watch your ar rumble, I'll, you know,
- 38:46Speaker 5: watch your something somewhere signed this year I thought was fantastic.
- 38:48Speaker 5: I mean, there's some way, but the endings were great.
- 38:51Speaker 4: I'll watch those.
- 38:53Speaker 5: They're fun, but there's so much sometimes just like, oh,
- 38:58Speaker 5: but the the nicing about it is you don't have
- 39:01Speaker 5: to pay for pay review. You don't have to pay
- 39:03Speaker 5: for it.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Now he's gotta pay.
- 39:05Speaker 5: It's just included with your fee. Now it kind of sucks.
- 39:07Speaker 5: It's like and again it sucks because on Peacock it
- 39:11Speaker 5: was what seven to fifteen dollars a month. Now with
- 39:15Speaker 5: ESPN it's thirty, which sucks because now it's like, oh great,
- 39:19Speaker 5: I have to get another thing because this subs can
- 39:21Speaker 5: stay on Peacock, but this subs can be on ESPN.
- 39:25Speaker 5: It's unfortunately the way it is. And again that's what
- 39:27Speaker 5: you have to do. And that's the thing like a
- 39:28Speaker 5: lot of people, I think, and this is what they do.
- 39:30Speaker 5: It's called churn where it's like, people, this is the
- 39:33Speaker 5: one thing that streaming services, Hey, it's that churn where
- 39:36Speaker 5: it's like, hey, Mandalorian coming out season three on Disney Plus,
- 39:41Speaker 5: great our sis. Chritch numbers went up the first month
- 39:43Speaker 5: of the Mandalorian show and then once the show ended,
- 39:46Speaker 5: we lost two on thousands describers. Because people only want
- 39:49Speaker 5: to go on to watch what they want to watch,
- 39:51Speaker 5: and they want to pay. They want to pay for it.
- 39:54Speaker 5: I only have Disney Plus and Hulu, not the live
- 39:58Speaker 5: one the want I pay for.
- 40:02Speaker 4: I don't pass for sure, allegedly.
- 40:05Speaker 5: But you have these streaming services that have all this content,
- 40:14Speaker 5: which is the smart You gotta have all this content
- 40:16Speaker 5: and offer all the stuff because it's like we don't,
- 40:20Speaker 5: we don't want you just to come on here. Just
- 40:22Speaker 5: to watch your one thing then get out. We want
- 40:23Speaker 5: you to come on here, continue to we want you,
- 40:25Speaker 5: we want you, or we want for us to be
- 40:30Speaker 5: your essentially sole provider of entertainment. You can whoever's listening
- 40:37Speaker 5: to this podcast, doesn't matter, if your parents a boomer,
- 40:39Speaker 5: gen Z, whatever, all that shit, it doesn't matter what
- 40:42Speaker 5: it is. You can go to them right now. Hell,
- 40:45Speaker 5: I don't watch the news.
- 40:46Speaker 4: I don't.
- 40:48Speaker 5: I'm not gonna say which one. I don't want you news,
- 40:50Speaker 5: but you can go to any of your parents right now.
- 40:51Speaker 5: You can go what what station.
- 40:52Speaker 4: Do you watch?
- 40:54Speaker 5: We turn a TV on? It's not even when you
- 40:56Speaker 5: turn you on, what do you turn on? It's when
- 40:58Speaker 5: you turn a TV on what channel was on? And
- 41:00Speaker 5: they'll tell you right away. Tyler, Fox, CBS, ABC, WGN,
- 41:06Speaker 5: just name all of them. But that's what these stream
- 41:09Speaker 5: nachers want to be. And they're gonna offer you a
- 41:12Speaker 5: fuckload of content for the fee to do it.
- 41:15Speaker 4: And again, yeah, if.
- 41:16Speaker 5: You're having all these different ones, is gonna get expensive
- 41:19Speaker 5: for me. Honestly, I'd be fine with just fucking Paramount
- 41:21Speaker 5: and ESPN. I don't need Peacock, I don't need I mean,
- 41:25Speaker 5: I love HBO. I fucking love HBO, but if there's
- 41:29Speaker 5: not a show out then, like, honestly, the last thing
- 41:31Speaker 5: I'm watching HBO with the Penguin, and I hate to
- 41:33Speaker 5: say that was what a year ago earlier this year, yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 5: which is crazy to say. I haven't been on it
- 41:41Speaker 5: since then. So, and that's kind of transitioning into Pavris
- 41:45Speaker 5: dead to another thing, which payer is not dead a
- 41:49Speaker 5: w Actually, I mean it's okay, but it's getting better.
- 41:54Speaker 5: But they're still doing the PA per view model and
- 41:55Speaker 5: they're so, oh, our numbers are great. We're still doing
- 41:57Speaker 5: stuff like that, which is I can't from what I read.
- 41:59Speaker 5: This is the first time this week they didn't say
- 42:00Speaker 5: how great they're They're like, oh, we're doing okay. It's
- 42:02Speaker 5: like no, usually they're all like, oh, we're doing fantastic.
- 42:04Speaker 5: This is like, oh, we're okay. And they're about to
- 42:06Speaker 5: go on HBO Max. But they're doing the Disney UFC
- 42:13Speaker 5: model where you have to pay for it on top
- 42:15Speaker 5: of already paying which I get it, everyone's got to
- 42:20Speaker 5: make their money. But it's like it's one of those
- 42:24Speaker 5: it's like literally a red flag, like, Hi, don't buy us.
- 42:27Speaker 5: We're the one thing still staying behind. But you know,
- 42:29Speaker 5: we're still staying back in the dinosaur age. It's like no, like, hi,
- 42:32Speaker 5: we're still staying in there. Twenty twenty four, twenty three.
- 42:35Speaker 5: IF entertainment, it's like, yeah, everyone's in twenty twenty five,
- 42:37Speaker 5: twenty six where it's like, oh great, I just pay
- 42:38Speaker 5: for this and I get what I want without of
- 42:40Speaker 5: that pay extra. So that would be just see how
- 42:44Speaker 5: that turns out. But it's just like, and that's the
- 42:46Speaker 5: thing too, like every people need to do. You need
- 42:48Speaker 5: to take the time to sit down and go what
- 42:51Speaker 5: do I watch? What do I want to pay for?
- 42:55Speaker 5: And watch where I get all this content that I
- 42:58Speaker 5: want where it's with Obviously, you know.
- 43:01Speaker 4: You gotta have a budget.
- 43:02Speaker 5: People. A lot of people don't have budgets. Unfortunately, trust me,
- 43:04Speaker 5: get a budget. It's great, says the guy just made
- 43:10Speaker 5: another trip. Anyway, but to ignore that, click any clock
- 43:14Speaker 5: if you're listening, But the point being you just got
- 43:18Speaker 5: a budget and be like what do I watch and
- 43:19Speaker 5: what do I want? I prefer Honestly, I prefer Disney
- 43:22Speaker 5: Hulu because not only do I get the Star Wars stuff,
- 43:24Speaker 5: I also get whatever the fuck is on Hulu, which
- 43:26Speaker 5: is everything. Do I have the live thing? No? Because
- 43:30Speaker 5: I don't need to watch something live. I can watch
- 43:32Speaker 5: it the next day. Now, if I wasn't going to
- 43:35Speaker 5: be doing some traveling here to go visit my wife,
- 43:37Speaker 5: would I get the live thing? Sorry babe? Probably yeah,
- 43:42Speaker 5: but I'm not going to because I'm not going to
- 43:44Speaker 5: be home all the time to watch these games. So
- 43:45Speaker 5: would they be stupid to But again, going back to
- 43:49Speaker 5: your thing, like, and it's sort of been forty five minutes,
- 43:52Speaker 5: so sorry for rambling. Not sorry. There is zero excuse
- 43:57Speaker 5: to not have the NFL individual teams just anywhere just
- 44:03Speaker 5: to watch for a flat fee. And then with all yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 5: with all and the problems with all these apps that
- 44:10Speaker 5: offer all this content and unfortunately price you're gonna go up.
- 44:12Speaker 5: You just have to limit. And this is the pready
- 44:15Speaker 5: to end this part. Were going to the next thing.
- 44:17Speaker 5: If we got here, this is it's the perfect excuse
- 44:20Speaker 5: for you to sit down and go, what do I
- 44:22Speaker 5: want to watch? Because here's where I will combat the
- 44:25Speaker 5: people who hate streaming and you know haven't cut the
- 44:28Speaker 5: cord or you know who have cut the cord, and
- 44:30Speaker 5: go this is more. I'm paying more than cable blah
- 44:33Speaker 5: blah blah. When you had satellite TV, you had the
- 44:40Speaker 5: big I mean by the time, by the time before
- 44:43Speaker 5: streaming pretty much was the norm. Everyone had the premiere
- 44:47Speaker 5: cable package where they had twelve to fifteen hundred channels.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Who in the fuck watched every single channel? Nobody you watch.
- 44:57Speaker 5: Maybe if you watch more than ten, you are full
- 45:00Speaker 5: of it. You watch your one with the news, you
- 45:02Speaker 5: watch your one with your sports team, you watch your
- 45:05Speaker 5: one that always has your favorite movies, You watch your
- 45:07Speaker 5: one that maybe has your favorite TV show, and then
- 45:10Speaker 5: the other five or six are just happen to be.
- 45:12Speaker 5: If you're scrolling through it, you go, oh hey, they
- 45:14Speaker 5: actually are HBO, Like, oh hey they have this movie
- 45:17Speaker 5: on Oh I would say this movie in forever, let
- 45:19Speaker 5: me watch it. Nobody needs that much. You don't have
- 45:23Speaker 5: the time. You don't. It's it is physically impossible to
- 45:26Speaker 5: watch everything that is on all these platforms unless you
- 45:29Speaker 5: are a zillionaire who is literally going to go all right,
- 45:32Speaker 5: you're gonna hook this ivy and to me on this side,
- 45:34Speaker 5: You're gonna hook this bag of me on the other side,
- 45:37Speaker 5: and I am not gonna move for the next two years.
- 45:42Speaker 5: There's no other way, and even two years wouldn't be
- 45:44Speaker 5: enough to cover it with Netflix alone.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Like Jesus.
- 45:50Speaker 5: Again, you just need to look at what you have
- 45:54Speaker 5: available or not wait what you like, see where it's at.
- 45:57Speaker 5: And that's the thing too, like yeah, shit moves like
- 45:58Speaker 5: oh no, there's shore really going. It's on HBO. Now
- 46:01Speaker 5: it's going to Paramount. Great? Cool? What's Paramount got? Oh
- 46:05Speaker 5: they got South Park all, they got the UFC all
- 46:07Speaker 5: like all the Town Cruise movies. I like Town Cruise. Cool,
- 46:12Speaker 5: I'll watch I'll watched Town Cruise run a bunch of
- 46:14Speaker 5: times before you know, Patrick for Holmes goes against Gino Smith. Great,
- 46:20Speaker 5: all right, cool, Nick cancel HBO or vice versa. Oh shit,
- 46:23Speaker 5: Peacemaker came out. Good season for opener, by the way,
- 46:27Speaker 5: great cool? Oh shit, why't we for episode two this week? Oh?
- 46:31Speaker 5: They got to them Godzilla movies they got they got Batman.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Oh what's this? Oh they got aw on here? Oh cool?
- 46:38Speaker 5: I haven't watched some ab shouldn't hear the movie that?
- 46:40Speaker 5: Oh they got paper View?
- 46:40Speaker 1: Come up?
- 46:41Speaker 5: What's that? Oh? Let me see what's what's the peper review? Oh?
- 46:43Speaker 5: I got Pictra forty bucks sport? Yeah?
- 46:44Speaker 4: Fuck off?
- 46:48Speaker 5: But the point made you don't need to have all
- 46:51Speaker 5: of these services. Now, I get it if you're a
- 46:55Speaker 5: football fanatic. I've seen how you Sunday TV worked, Sunday TV,
- 47:00Speaker 5: Sunday Ticket works, with YouTube. It is awesome where it's
- 47:03Speaker 5: like you can just have all of them on the screen.
- 47:05Speaker 5: You can just click down, go left, right, go on
- 47:07Speaker 5: that screen goes right to that one. Yet yet it's
- 47:09Speaker 5: like it is literally like walking into a giant casino
- 47:12Speaker 5: sportsman and you see all the games on the giant
- 47:13Speaker 5: you know wall. That's like what whoa. That's like what
- 47:17Speaker 5: it is with YouTube, Sunday Ticket. But other than that,
- 47:22Speaker 5: nobody needs that much content. You don't. I'm not this
- 47:28Speaker 5: giant horror fanatic like I used to be, But like,
- 47:31Speaker 5: there are services out there for smart TVs that legal,
- 47:35Speaker 5: by the way, where you can go and download them
- 47:37Speaker 5: and watch free horror movies. That's why I do every October.
- 47:42Speaker 5: I forgot which one it's called. Actually, my dad put
- 47:45Speaker 5: it on my TV. Thanks Dad. I don't her what
- 47:48Speaker 5: the fuck it is because he told me about it.
- 47:49Speaker 5: I was like, oh, thanks for pretty cool. And every
- 47:51Speaker 5: Halloween or every October, that is the one channel that
- 47:54Speaker 5: the football game is on my television set. Is this
- 47:57Speaker 5: random streaming thing which it's gonna it's not tell me
- 48:01Speaker 5: it's one of those free ones. But I get all
- 48:03Speaker 5: these awesome shows. And also I get all these great
- 48:06Speaker 5: horror horror movies for free.
- 48:07Speaker 4: It's fantastic.
- 48:10Speaker 5: If you don't gotta have them all, ash catch them,
- 48:14Speaker 5: gotta catch them all. No, it's physically fucking impossible. And
- 48:20Speaker 5: backtrack that. Not only is it physically impossible, it is
- 48:23Speaker 5: not worth it.
- 48:24Speaker 4: It is stupid.
- 48:27Speaker 5: Figure out what you like, subscribe to if you want.
- 48:31Speaker 5: After you like and subscribe to this podcast, Thank you,
- 48:33Speaker 5: leave a review, appreciate it. Where you get your podcasts?
- 48:35Speaker 5: Listen to your podcast? But you don't need to have
- 48:38Speaker 5: every single fucking streaming platform. You know what you do?
- 48:42Speaker 5: Let's see what is it? Man? Let me do some math.
- 48:46Speaker 5: No o bay, I'm actually gonna actually do math. I'm
- 48:47Speaker 5: just gonna type it in on the Twitter and I'm
- 48:49Speaker 5: gonna see what what does it cost?
- 48:51Speaker 4: I wanna get a headache here?
- 48:53Speaker 5: Um hmm, let me see.
- 49:00Speaker 4: Let's look at this.
- 49:07Speaker 5: Okay, perfect right for this one. So, for the first time,
- 49:10Speaker 5: Sunday Ticket is offered a monthly subscription for YouTube subscribers,
- 49:15Speaker 5: new users, which I hate that shit. When it's like, oh,
- 49:18Speaker 5: you're new, you get this discount. Oh you're returning, I'll
- 49:20Speaker 5: give you this, It's like, why are you fucking me
- 49:22Speaker 5: like that? I'm loyal, but I'm getting screwed. New users
- 49:28Speaker 5: eighty five dollars up to four months okay for Sunday
- 49:32Speaker 5: Ticket or one hundred and fifteen dollars a month for
- 49:37Speaker 5: returning users from up to four months okay. Great. Let's
- 49:41Speaker 5: say you don't do Sunday Ticket and you do let's
- 49:44Speaker 5: say ESPN and Fox. You do the ESPN Fox one.
- 49:52Speaker 5: There you go forty bucks a month. You take that
- 49:55Speaker 5: other forty five dollars and you buy yourself a couple
- 49:57Speaker 5: of cases of beer and a big ass fucking pizza.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Or you the one hundred and fifty You take use
- 50:03Speaker 5: one hundred and fifty dollars one and you buy yourself
- 50:05Speaker 5: a bunch of pizzas and some really good bourbon. There
- 50:10Speaker 5: you go.
- 50:12Speaker 4: You don't need to have them all.
- 50:14Speaker 5: It's not worth it. It's not worth the time. I love
- 50:20Speaker 5: the content that is on HBO. I love the stuff. Actually,
- 50:24Speaker 5: I used to be I used to be the biggest
- 50:25Speaker 5: critic of Netflix, because I would would be like, there's
- 50:27Speaker 5: too much to I don't know what to look for.
- 50:29Speaker 5: But I think Netflix is great. But for me, all
- 50:32Speaker 5: I need, honestly is that that you know, Oh and
- 50:35Speaker 5: the Green TV one. I said the thing too many
- 50:38Speaker 5: times because that stuff has stuff I like to watch
- 50:42Speaker 5: when I have the time to watch TV problems. People
- 50:46Speaker 5: think they have all this time to watch all this content,
- 50:47Speaker 5: but the problem is they don't, like, you see something
- 50:51Speaker 5: on this podcast. I'm going to the gym and they're
- 50:52Speaker 5: gonna come home and I do some launchery some other show.
- 50:54Speaker 5: But like tomorrow when I'm working, when I have a break,
- 50:59Speaker 5: I'll try on Peacemakers, says episode two, And I probably
- 51:02Speaker 5: won't watch any any TV until Saturday for Kickoff.
- 51:06Speaker 4: That's it.
- 51:09Speaker 5: And if there's no other good games on it within
- 51:10Speaker 5: my roots in your region, then I go, okay, whatever,
- 51:15Speaker 5: figure something out, or I call a buddy, Hey, what
- 51:17Speaker 5: do you got going on? Or what do you have on? Okay,
- 51:18Speaker 5: I'll come over. Oh hey, you want to go to
- 51:19Speaker 5: this bar and watch us? Okay, great, cool.
- 51:22Speaker 4: It doesn't have to be that complicated.
- 51:26Speaker 5: I just think people want to bitch. Now people have
- 51:29Speaker 5: to write to bitch about the stuff because there's and
- 51:32Speaker 5: I think it's not just the fact people are bitch
- 51:34Speaker 5: about the wrong way. They're bitching about it because see
- 51:38Speaker 5: them going horse here, I'm trying to become a voice
- 51:40Speaker 5: actor because they don't want to have to spend all those
- 51:43Speaker 5: hundreds of dollars to watch all these football games. But
- 51:46Speaker 5: it's like, you don't have to, you don't have to.
- 51:50Speaker 5: You could spend that other money you're not spending on
- 51:53Speaker 5: other things involving said football game, or honestly, at this point,
- 51:56Speaker 5: just go buy a fucking ticket anyway, and there's no
- 52:02Speaker 5: way you're gonna watch all that shit.
- 52:04Speaker 4: It's impossible, all right.
- 52:06Speaker 5: Forgot your story time? Uh not a sauna story, although
- 52:12Speaker 5: no I don't have one. I've been the son of
- 52:14Speaker 5: because as I said in the LUs in the last episode,
- 52:16Speaker 5: I get some more tattoos and you're supposed to wait
- 52:19Speaker 5: like a month month And this is what the artist
- 52:20Speaker 5: told me. And I've looked up to thank you Lance.
- 52:23Speaker 5: They look great that you're not supposed to go like
- 52:25Speaker 5: a son for like a month moreth and a half
- 52:26Speaker 5: ish to like, you know.
- 52:28Speaker 4: The do'sn't affected discoloration, he don't something like.
- 52:31Speaker 5: That don't know why I said that, but no sona story.
- 52:35Speaker 5: Although I kind of look where one where I'm pretty
- 52:37Speaker 5: like ninety I'm gonna go ninety eight percent. Certain saw
- 52:40Speaker 5: a larger gentleman walk into the sauna with a bag
- 52:43Speaker 5: of flaming hot Cheetos.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:47Speaker 5: I haven't let that pause at there for a moment. Cool,
- 52:50Speaker 5: thank you, So move on. So storytime, A little funk.
- 52:54Speaker 4: Story for you.
- 52:54Speaker 5: All right, And I know I talked about wrestling earlier,
- 52:56Speaker 5: but I want to talk about business. But for the funk
- 52:58Speaker 5: go I'm going late three two one. Some people drop
- 53:00Speaker 5: off and go cool. So I am a focal collector.
- 53:06Speaker 5: I am very fond of it. Are there ones I
- 53:09Speaker 5: probably shouldn't have gone because it's like, yeah, but you
- 53:11Speaker 5: know what you don't don't don't doubt.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Your happiness, don't question your happiness, Just do it.
- 53:17Speaker 5: There's that pop there turning on like TikTok where it's
- 53:20Speaker 5: like phoebe, It's like fucking book it, you know, fucking
- 53:22Speaker 5: book it, reservation trips, all that shit. So, as some
- 53:28Speaker 5: people know, part of the name of this podcast is
- 53:30Speaker 5: a spot inspired by a certain big ip that involves
- 53:33Speaker 5: space and wars and shit. So there is this character
- 53:38Speaker 5: from that franchise that is not canon. He's not Cannon,
- 53:44Speaker 5: he not part of the story. He ever met I
- 53:47Speaker 5: fucking know named stark Killer. And about six eight months
- 53:54Speaker 5: ago they released a funkal for him without the mask,
- 53:57Speaker 5: and like if you if you type in star Killer,
- 53:59Speaker 5: you know it's from the Star Wars Force and Leash games.
- 54:01Speaker 5: You type in that, you see the cover of the
- 54:03Speaker 5: seat exactly. It looks like you know, it's actually based
- 54:05Speaker 5: off And he performed with Sam Whitwerk Fama Work is
- 54:08Speaker 5: the voice of Dark Mal two. I love to work
- 54:11Speaker 5: with him someday. Anyway, in the game, you kind of
- 54:16Speaker 5: have a little freedom ish with your decision making where
- 54:20Speaker 5: you can become good or bad, and if you go bad,
- 54:23Speaker 5: you get this badass suits and mask and shit. And
- 54:28Speaker 5: I'm not gonna lie. And I saw it with some
- 54:30Speaker 5: forms when they release Star Killer to the public, for like, ah,
- 54:32Speaker 5: that's cool, but like we want the mask.
- 54:34Speaker 4: I want the mask.
- 54:35Speaker 5: I want the fucking I want the you know, literally,
- 54:38Speaker 5: imagine imagine if Kylo Wren and Dart Vader had a
- 54:41Speaker 5: mask molded, like if Magicavin took Jet GPT and you said,
- 54:44Speaker 5: make me a mask of like these two mixed together
- 54:47Speaker 5: make it a little bit brighter colors. But then put
- 54:50Speaker 5: it on an evil sith lord that has lightsabers and shit.
- 54:54Speaker 5: Oh and just for the fucking fun of it, give
- 54:56Speaker 5: him Freddy Krueger gloves. That is literally the best way
- 55:00Speaker 5: I could describe who the fuck star Killer is as
- 55:02Speaker 5: a bad guy. That's pretty spot at so One of
- 55:08Speaker 5: the Blue A couple of weeks ago, Funko announces, Hey,
- 55:13Speaker 5: here's star Killer, We're gonna release them. Of course, the
- 55:17Speaker 5: world goes wild. Whoa so Funko has been. I don't
- 55:26Speaker 5: know how I've been doing this. I think it's been
- 55:27Speaker 5: about a year or so. They're doing this same where
- 55:29Speaker 5: it's called fame rewards. We're essentially whenever you buy anything
- 55:31Speaker 5: directly from them, not from anywhere, And I get.
- 55:34Speaker 4: Why they do that. You get points.
- 55:37Speaker 5: These points could be used towards entering raffles. These points
- 55:40Speaker 5: can be used towards getting discounts, uh, tickets to events,
- 55:44Speaker 5: all that shit. It's kind of easy to get some
- 55:47Speaker 5: points just by reading articles or doing social things with them,
- 55:50Speaker 5: or you just buy shit. I think it's like every
- 55:51Speaker 5: I think it's what every point, every dollar you spends
- 55:54Speaker 5: one hundred.
- 55:54Speaker 4: Point or something like that. I can't really exactly what.
- 55:56Speaker 5: Or I think it's every every dollar you spend is
- 55:59Speaker 5: ten points.
- 55:59Speaker 4: I believe it's like a crowd of our salt shock.
- 56:01Speaker 5: Anyway, they announced star Killer finally the crowd goes wild
- 56:06Speaker 5: will be coming out at this time. And when they
- 56:09Speaker 5: do these reward drops, they release what they do. And
- 56:11Speaker 5: again this is my first time doing it, and I
- 56:14Speaker 5: read a lot about this.
- 56:15Speaker 4: How I think they do it.
- 56:17Speaker 5: They do these releases where it's like, hey, we're gonna
- 56:20Speaker 5: release this figure that everybody wants. There's only a certain
- 56:26Speaker 5: limited number of them because we know they're gonna be
- 56:30Speaker 5: very much, you know, sought after. So here's how many
- 56:34Speaker 5: come out. I saw at one little won today for
- 56:38Speaker 5: Fantasm from the Batman Fantasm movie. You know they made
- 56:41Speaker 5: one years ago. This one looks a little more cooler.
- 56:44Speaker 5: It's got smoking shit, although I like the one I have,
- 56:46Speaker 5: Like they said, uh, let me get the number here
- 56:49Speaker 5: for you.
- 56:50Speaker 2: Uh dude, do great Auntie Yoke Chuck Cantina not even
- 56:57Speaker 2: drinking alcohol five hundred, So nine thousand, five hundred, you go,
- 57:04Speaker 2: that's quite a lot.
- 57:05Speaker 5: I go, true, But when other ones have had like
- 57:09Speaker 5: twenty thirty all that shit. It's it's like, okay, so
- 57:11Speaker 5: not very common. So Star Killer was announced with a
- 57:16Speaker 5: couple other ones. And the way they do this is
- 57:18Speaker 5: these like these reward jobs. Essentially, it is not like
- 57:21Speaker 5: it is only exclusively for ward members. Essentially, it's like, hey,
- 57:24Speaker 5: we're gonna release it this time. Use your points to earn,
- 57:29Speaker 5: not to essentially have the right to purchase this. It's
- 57:34Speaker 5: not like you get your points to you a discounts like, no, hey,
- 57:35Speaker 5: if you use your points, we're gonna let you purchase.
- 57:37Speaker 4: This if you have enough points.
- 57:40Speaker 5: Some pocos have been you know, fifteen hundred, which is
- 57:43Speaker 5: kind of low, twenty five a little bit lower, ninety
- 57:46Speaker 5: five hundred, like I mentioned, I might be wrong with
- 57:48Speaker 5: the fantastic, but it's like the most common war for that.
- 57:50Speaker 5: So starkllary thinking, what, okay, three thousand, two tho star Wars.
- 57:53Speaker 5: It's gonna be a pretty big number, right, Like they're
- 57:55Speaker 5: gonna want everyone to have this character. Wouldn't we be
- 57:58Speaker 5: un are a one thousand? Would it?
- 58:00Speaker 2: Oh?
- 58:01Speaker 5: That's right? It fucking was seven and fifty. They only
- 58:07Speaker 5: made allegedly seven hundred and fifty of these bad boys.
- 58:13Speaker 5: So did my due diligence. I got my points up.
- 58:17Speaker 5: I had actually a gift card, use a gift card,
- 58:19Speaker 5: got some more points, read some articles and all that shit.
- 58:21Speaker 5: Got my point. I got my points, got my points
- 58:25Speaker 5: like other than like and as I was telling my wife,
- 58:28Speaker 5: other than like the few other ones I've gone. And
- 58:32Speaker 5: then there's like two I want to get, but I'll
- 58:34Speaker 5: never get because I'm sorry when I love my collection,
- 58:37Speaker 5: not justifying that purchase absol fuckingly not obviously listening to
- 58:40Speaker 5: the podcasts, you know, sirrd by the Sith Trooper that's
- 58:42Speaker 5: been done to death, just like my hater for the packers. Anyway, God,
- 58:47Speaker 5: Jerry Jones is an idiot. Anyway, seven hundred and fifty
- 58:52Speaker 5: they launched him, and nine o'clock. Before I get to
- 58:55Speaker 5: the launch, let me say this really quick week before
- 59:01Speaker 5: it launched, for the essentially raffles like, hey, come on here,
- 59:06Speaker 5: drop your points and what you know if you get there.
- 59:08Speaker 5: And by the way, that's nice thing too, is if
- 59:09Speaker 5: you try to use your points, you don't get them
- 59:11Speaker 5: get your points back, so it's not like you're it's
- 59:13Speaker 5: not like your sol.
- 59:13Speaker 4: Which is nice.
- 59:15Speaker 5: So about a week before I get a notification because
- 59:21Speaker 5: I have these like certain like Tracker ones where it's like, hey,
- 59:23Speaker 5: just if anything like in this category comes out, let
- 59:25Speaker 5: me know and I'll look at like now, okay, maybe
- 59:27Speaker 5: I'll say it, maybe they'll look at later whatever. People
- 59:31Speaker 5: were listing this item on eBay a week before it
- 59:35Speaker 5: came out for like three hundred and fifty four hundred dollars.
- 59:40Speaker 5: That's funny. How can you list something that you don't have?
- 59:44Speaker 5: Or since they have a partnership with Fongo and eBay,
- 59:48Speaker 5: why the fuck would they allow it? I don't know.
- 59:51Speaker 5: Now again an ebait, you're allowed to post and sell
- 59:53Speaker 5: what you want, I think, within a reason. But it's like,
- 59:55Speaker 5: how are you allowed to post and sell something that
- 59:59Speaker 5: the general public doesn't even have access to yet? How
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: is that fair? It's like, oh, are you using bots?
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: No, of course you are.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: So finally day comes A's a Thursday morning, took my
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: break during work, logged in, had my credit card already uploaded,
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: had everything ready to go. It starts and the website
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: fucking crashes. Website crashes. It's a shit show. No one
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: could get in. People and I some people couldn't even
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: get on the page. I got to where it's like,
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: do you want to assimmit your points? Do you please check
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: this box understanding these points cannot be returned if you
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: you know, once you purchase this item, didn't work, didn't work,
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: didn't work, didn't work. Minutes later sold out, Well that sucked.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: Didn't get it now again, it's a fucking hobby. Like
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: you don't you can't get over. Don't get over. I
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: mean I was a little pissed about it. I'm like, hey,
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: some came up today. I did the mom like what
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: the fuck? And then I moved on whatever. So thankfully,
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: I believe it was this popular social plate it's called
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: disc trackers. They simply they put out a thing saying, hey,
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: if you submitted it and at dockt your points, you
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: didn't get it, email them and uh, you know they'll
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: they'll essentially they'll give you your points back because it's
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: one of those things where it's like if you don't
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: say anything, they're gonna take your time giving your points back. Now,
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: like it's it's kind of shit, but it's like it's
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: just a it's just it's like this, Hey, if there's
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: no issue, we're not gonna look at it. It's like, oh,
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: we overcharge you, Okay, sorry money. So I email them
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: and uh, personally, I have not had great success to
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: their customer service in the past. I've had items that
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: were delivered. Actually, everything I've ever gott from has always
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: been livered, but there would be delivery delays sometimes. There
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: was one time I got overcharge. I got my money
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: back for something. I'm just like, it would take forever
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: to get them back to me, would just be a
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: shit show. So I'm like, oh, fuck it, fine whatever.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: So I emailed them this Thursday and I go, yeah,
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: can I get my points back lease.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: Through my account.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: Then Saturday night, I went to the gym, had a
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: few beverages in me came back. I was saying, my competer,
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: I have a little like game session with the guys,
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: and I get an email at like ninety five at night,
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: which that was fucking weird, and it's like, uh no,
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: chuck um, you got it. And I'm like pretty sure
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: I didn't. My credit card doesn't say I got it,
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: my car doesn't say I got it, so which then
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: I guess this was smart on their part. They anticipated
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: this might happen, so what they did was essentially, if
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: your points were accepted, they gave you until a certain
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: date to purchase it. So I'm like, okay, I don't
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: believe this, and I generally thought it was scam. So
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: they sent me a link and I'm like, okay, I'm
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: not going on there. So I go on my phone,
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: I log in, I go to the page, even though
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: for the last two days it said sold out, and
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: what would you know, add to Karte. So I got
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: him right here and now I'm very happy. Good take
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: care and don't kidding, no, it was truly awesome. I
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: do have to give them a shout out for getting
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: back to me so fast. That was really appreciative. I
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: appreciate it. That appreciative.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: Jesus Christ.
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: But here's my issue. It's going back to the thing.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: I don't know how places like that or how you
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: even go back to like when the PlayStations came out,
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: why are places allowed to add items on there when
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: they don't even have them.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: In hand, which to mean that's bullshit.
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: Because going back to this eBay thing, people who didn't
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: get it rightfully upset, which hey, and that's the thing,
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: and that's the thing I'm happy about with it because
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: the thing too a bitch about for Funko four years
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: is like, oh, it's not cool anymore. It's like I
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: go any anything that comes out, anyone can get it now.
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: It's like, well, yeah they made During COVID, everyone was
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: either working on their houses or spending money on like
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: things they wanted. That's all people were doing because we
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: couldn't go anywhere, and people, unfortunately were going on eBay
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: the day it had happened, buying it through eBay for
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: hundreds and hundreds of dollars, only to then get notifications
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: from these sellers saying, Hi, your sale has been declined,
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: thinking oh, it's wrong on my credit card? Did it?
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: What's going on? That's just seller?
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: No response.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: Then said seller re uploaded it later on eBay for
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: double the price because they got it and they knew
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: what it should show. The thing was, which sucks, and
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: that sucks for the collectors.
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: It does.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: And I say this to people, nothing, as much as
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: I love Funko and I love Star Wars, it's not
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: it's not worth that much.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: It's not don't buy it. You know what's it happened?
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: You my wife? Because you don't buy what happens these
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: peple get fucked. Like all the guys that bought all
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: the PlayStations and bought the hunches of PlayStations, what happened?
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: They got to where they were selling for three to
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: two hundred bucks.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: Sucks as suck.
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: So that's my story, all right. I'm be going for
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: an hour, so bring get out of here quickly. I
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: wanted to just give a shout out to everyone who
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: is support the show and does listen. Hurry.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: Hell if you even new, appreciate your time.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: Hope you enjoyed it will be a good laugh. If not,
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: come back next week, we'll try to make a laugh again.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: It's cool. If you had any drinks like I did
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: not have tonight, even though some of the things I
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: said it was like, what the fuck is he?
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: Nothing?
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: Just lacroix. Please get home, be safe, call friend, call
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: the ride chair, call taxi, wave down a horseback.
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: I don't know, just don't be don't be dumb.
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: As always, you can find us at Chuck's Cantina on

- 1:05:59Speaker 5: reach out, find on pod match. I'm gonna back on there,

- 1:06:04Speaker 5: boisac and stuff here shortly and uh, let's knocking on
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: wood and yeah otherwise, uh, final note, it's not worth it,
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: especially in today's age. If it's not worth it, don't
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: buy it. Simple cool, cool, take care now bye bye
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: then
