Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to Tech Pulse, the podcast that keeps
- 0:02you ahead of the curve. I'm Chloe. And I'm Mark.
- 0:05Today, we're diving into a really major development
- 0:09in the world of electric mobility coming right
- 0:11out of Dubai. Yeah, DEWA, Dubai's utility provider,
- 0:16has just announced the significant expansion
- 0:19of its Green Charger EV network. Mark, the scale
- 0:23of this is what really stands out, right? Absolutely,
- 0:26Chloe. I mean, the network has now surpassed
- 0:281 ,860 charging points across the Emirate. Wow.
- 0:33And get this. Since 2014, they've delivered over
- 0:3655 ,200 megawatt hours of clean electricity.
- 0:41Hmm. To put that in perspective, that's enough
- 0:43energy to power electric vehicles for more than
- 0:46276 million kilometers. That's an incredible
- 0:50distance. It's such a tangible result of a long
- 0:53-term strategy. The initiative now serves over,
- 0:56what, 23 ,600 registered EV drivers? And the
- 1:01numbers are just climbing. And this isn't just
- 1:04about adding charging points, you know. Right.
- 1:06It's about fulfilling a national vision. The
- 1:09MD and CEO of Diwa, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed
- 1:12Al -Tayyar, put it perfectly. He said, and I'll
- 1:16quote a bit here. Okay. Quoting, we are working
- 1:19to achieve the vision to consolidate Dubai's
- 1:21status as a global leader in the green economy
- 1:23and sustainable mobility. Right, the big picture.
- 1:27And one of the world's most future -ready cities.
- 1:30We continue our efforts to enhance the green
- 1:32mobility infrastructure. Quoting, the expansion
- 1:36of charging points helps to keep pace with the
- 1:38increasing number of electric vehicles and provide
- 1:41a seamless and fast experience for users. Wow,
- 1:44so it's all about scaling. Quoting, enhancing
- 1:47Dubai's position as a global destination for
- 1:50living, working, and visiting. That quote, it
- 1:53just powerfully connects the infrastructure to
- 1:56Dubai's global ambitions. And for the drivers
- 1:59on the ground, Diwa has made the experience so
- 2:02accessible. They offer everything from ultra
- 2:05-fast chargers for a quick boost on the go to,
- 2:08you know, public and wallbox chargers for daily
- 2:11use. And finding them is, from what I hear, seamless.
- 2:15Drivers can use the DUS Smart app or a dozen
- 2:17other digital platforms to locate the nearest
- 2:19station. Okay, that's smart. They've even included
- 2:22a guest feature, so tourists or new users can
- 2:25charge their vehicles without needing a registered
- 2:27account. It's that combination of, you know,
- 2:30high -level strategy and user -centric design
- 2:33that truly accelerates the transition to sustainable
- 2:36transport. Dubai isn't just building for the
- 2:39future. They're making it easy for everyone to
- 2:41be a part of it. So here's a question we'd like
- 2:44to leave everyone with. As public charging infrastructure
- 2:48becomes this seamless, how will it change not
- 2:51just the cars we buy, but the very design of
- 2:54our cities and our daily travel habits?
