  Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and welcome to another episode

  of the United Church of Tonga Youth Devotion.

  Our Bible reading for today is taken from the book of Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11.

  It says, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,

  plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

  The theme, trust in God's plan.

  Some have applied this verse entirely to themselves and others.

  They say God loves you and has a great plan for your life.
• 0:39
  God has planned your life. All you need to do is obey him to receive his blessings.

  Some even claim that this scripture guarantees wealth on earth.

  Christians are blessed with good health and happiness.
• 0:54
  As the king's children, we should never accept second best.
• 0:59
  According to this viewpoint, hardship is a sign of lack of faith.

  Since we belong to Christ by faith, Christians also inherit that promise.

  Through God's generosity, everything that is his is now ours,

  because he took on the covenant curse and obeyed the law on our behalf.

  Therefore, we will be blessed by the work of the Holy Spirit,

  raised with Christ, and experience incredible blessings in the presence of our

  Lord, even as we endure suffering throughout our earthly journey.

  God's promise, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and

  a hope, ultimately refers to this.

  Furthermore, it is far better than any promise of worldly prosperity.

  Understanding that Jeremiah 29.11 does not promise immediate relief from hardship

  or suffering, but rather assures us that God has a plan for our lives.

  He can work through any situation to prosper us, offering hope and a future.

  The fact that God promises to support us in these times brings us comfort.

  Let us pray. Lord, I'm grateful to your wonderful plans for me and all your children.

  Expand my understanding of you and grant me the ability to trust your truth in any situation.

  I encounter because I know you always have good intentions for me.

  For those who love you and align with your plans and purposes,

  I'm thankful that everything works out for the best.

  Father, I pray that many would come to believe in Jesus as their Messiah and

  King and that you will continue to keep and protect your people.
