- 0:18Speaker 1: Team Six, happy Halloween. It is the week of Halloween,
- 0:22Speaker 1: Sherman Young. You got to get the costumes ready. You
- 0:25Speaker 1: got to get the candy ready.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You got to get the trick-or-treating bags ready. Yeah. We're
- 0:29Speaker 1: rocking our Olipop hoodies right now. We got them decorated.
- 0:34Speaker 1: You're seeing a one-of-one from Cerulean Belle Compton. We got
- 0:39Speaker 1: the dark balloons on the sides. We got, she wanted
- 0:42Speaker 1: to let me know, these are pumpkins down here. These
- 0:45Speaker 1: are pumpkins. She wanted the, so Olipop sent this, obviously,
- 0:48Speaker 1: to color in with the Sharpie. And then on the bottom,
- 0:51Speaker 1: it's just a straight line. So you can do whatever
- 0:53Speaker 1: with the mouth. but she wanted like where the wild
- 0:55Speaker 1: things are type teeth. She wanted the pumpkin to have
- 0:57Speaker 1: a smile on its face. The nose is very well done.
- 1:01Speaker 1: She got a little nose in there. She wrote her name.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I was like, hey Ru, when you're writing your name,
- 1:07Speaker 1: like I'm like trying, I'm like, don't make it too big.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And she's like, dad, dad, I know how to write small.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Go ahead. You do you. I know you're getting better
- 1:14Speaker 1: in school. I just didn't know where you were as
- 1:16Speaker 1: far as the handwriting went.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Will, I have, we've come to my first dad loss.
- 1:21Speaker 3: We've come to my first ad loss. Show us your pumpkin. Now,
- 1:28Speaker 3: is this Skarsgård? That's my first ad loss. I forgot
- 1:33Speaker 3: to bring this home to have Skarsgård draw on it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Really? Like, I saw and I'm like chuckling. I'm like, oh,
- 1:40Speaker 1: that's so sweet. Because I'm thinking to myself, like, Skarsgård,
- 1:42Speaker 1: she's not going to be able to color the. She
- 1:44Speaker 1: has no clue. No clue. No clue.
- 1:47Speaker 3: So I did my, as close as I could to
- 1:51Speaker 3: an artist's rendition. It's not a true Scarlett Young original,
- 1:57Speaker 3: but I thought I did a nice ode to the
- 1:59Speaker 3: artist with what.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I did this morning. So that's you making the markings.
- 2:04Speaker 3: This is me making the marks, as I think Scarlett
- 2:07Speaker 3: would have done. That's offensive to Scarlett. Yeah, that's kind
- 2:12Speaker 3: of a shot astray at Scarlett. Like if you're going
- 2:16Speaker 3: to do it and you're going to be on this
- 2:17Speaker 3: For the Dad show and just admit that I didn't
- 2:19Speaker 3: do the homework assignment with Scar Scar and I'm going
- 2:22Speaker 3: to tell everybody that I did this shirt, you might
- 2:24Speaker 3: as well go all in on doing the hoodie.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I see it.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I thought that one was pretty, that's pretty accurate because
- 2:32Speaker 3: one of her favorite things to do is she starts
- 2:36Speaker 3: screaming when we put the pen in her hand. And
- 2:40Speaker 3: she'll get like two marks and she'll see that she's
- 2:42Speaker 3: leaving marks. She gets really excited and starts going, and
- 2:48Speaker 3: really starts slamming it. So I thought that was actually
- 2:51Speaker 3: like going above and beyond there, adding that detail.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 3: If you know my daughter like I do, that was
- 2:59Speaker 3: pretty darn good. But I do issue an apology to PT6.
- 3:04Speaker 3: And I saw the story even last night.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Well, Derek- sent the text to remind us and thank
- 3:12Speaker 1: you deke because i was in a kind of a
- 3:15Speaker 1: panic of on sunday night or coming in yesterday for
- 3:18Speaker 1: bussing thinking we were gonna wear these on bussing i
- 3:20Speaker 1: was like gosh damn it i forgot to take the
- 3:23Speaker 1: lollipop box home but then when you're like hey guys
- 3:25Speaker 1: reminder we're gonna wear those hoodies on tuesday i was
- 3:27Speaker 1: like right when i get to the shop i need
- 3:29Speaker 1: to go grab the box and just put it in
- 3:31Speaker 1: my truck so that way that way i know it's
- 3:33Speaker 1: in there oh my goodness If.
- 3:35Speaker 3: That lets you know how many texts I didn't do
- 3:38Speaker 3: a good job of reading. He had another text that
- 3:40Speaker 3: was an important text that I didn't even reply to
- 3:43Speaker 3: until this morning.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I texted you both twice yesterday. You ignored one,
- 3:48Speaker 4: replied this morning on the other. You ignored the one
- 3:51Speaker 4: and ignored the other but did it. So that counts too.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I did what you said. The one with Chip,
- 3:57Speaker 1: I saw Chip's name. I saw Terminal List. It was
- 3:59Speaker 1: about 420. At that moment, I was in the bookstore reading.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I see it. I chuckle in my eye. I can't
- 4:04Speaker 1: wait to read this about Terminal List. I close the phone,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and then that's where it goes into the abyss. Because
- 4:09Speaker 1: by that time, dad brain kicks in. You're driving home.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You get going. Totally forgot that that text happened. But
- 4:15Speaker 1: you got Terminal List. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So he
- 4:18Speaker 1: did it.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Chip hit me up.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Chip hit me up that Terminal List is out. Little
- 4:22Speaker 1: did Chip know, I was finishing the season last night. Okay.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But then I walk in the shop today. He's like, oh, Will,
- 4:27Speaker 1: did you see my text? And literally in my head,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I'm thinking, text? I don't remember getting the- And then
- 4:31Speaker 1: I scroll and see, and I'm like, that's the one.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'm sitting there about to read Cat in the Hat
- 4:35Speaker 1: in the bookstore to Scotty. And I see, I glance
- 4:38Speaker 1: at him, I'm like, oh, I'll get to that later.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Sure enough, we all know it. You open your text,
- 4:42Speaker 1: then you put it away. You forget to text back.
- 4:45Speaker 3: The worst part of dad brain that I've come across
- 4:48Speaker 3: is the type of dad brain where you are so slotted.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Like you feel like you are so crushing it, where
- 4:56Speaker 3: you're supposed to be, what you're doing, that it's, I mean,
- 5:01Speaker 3: you already forgot the two other things that's going on
- 5:03Speaker 3: over here, but you thought you were doing such a
- 5:05Speaker 3: good job, dude.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Yeah. I had the kids solo over the weekend, and
- 5:10Speaker 1: by the time Charles got home, she gave me a
- 5:12Speaker 1: huge compliment. She was like, you crushed it this weekend. Like,
- 5:14Speaker 1: you cleaned more than, like, she was subtly surprised.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Team effort to the ball club.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Rue was helping Scotty. She was sort of doing what
- 5:23Speaker 1: Scotty does, but that's a full team effort. However, I
- 5:27Speaker 1: thought I left a bottle of, At Cracker Barrel or
- 5:31Speaker 1: the flag football game or something because I just couldn't
- 5:33Speaker 1: find it. Fortunately, eventually, when Trevor was about to put
- 5:38Speaker 1: Scotty down, I found it laying behind the chair, the rocker. Yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It just fell off. But I didn't know where it was.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I kind of gave it the whole, I think I
- 5:46Speaker 1: got to go to Cracker Barrel. I think I left
- 5:48Speaker 1: it there. Yeah. But I'm also thinking, I hope you
- 5:50Speaker 1: don't make this a deal. Cause it's a bottle at
- 5:53Speaker 1: the end of the day.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:54Speaker 1: But you're already prepping for, all right, did I, did
- 5:56Speaker 1: I knock it all out of the park? Did I
- 5:58Speaker 1: check all the boxes?
- 5:59Speaker 3: And then your, your brain instantly goes to, well, I
- 6:02Speaker 3: am a really dumb dad. So I probably, I probably
- 6:06Speaker 3: left it three places ago. That's the same thing I
- 6:09Speaker 3: did with the diapers and wipes.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, Oh my God, Scarlett's out of diapers.
- 6:13Speaker 5: Wow.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I forgot him at home. Forgot him at home. Jill's like, honey,
- 6:16Speaker 1: it's in the back. My wife didn't know it, but
- 6:19Speaker 1: I had already mentally prepared for like three different scenarios
- 6:23Speaker 1: over the bottle. Oh, no. Just to just have the conversation.
- 6:27Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Just to be like, sweetheart, we have to know. And
- 6:31Speaker 1: this convo never even had, it didn't happen. But I
- 6:34Speaker 1: got to a point as I'm like doing dishes and
- 6:36Speaker 1: kind of cleaning the house and kind of working myself like, okay,
- 6:39Speaker 1: if she mentions the bottle, how do we chalk it up?
- 6:42Speaker 1: It is just a little bottle. Like we can just
- 6:43Speaker 1: get another one. But also the rapport, the evidence of
- 6:47Speaker 1: Willie C is there's always something missing when mama comes home.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And I was just going to go full into that
- 6:52Speaker 1: dead end and be like, at the end of the day,
- 6:54Speaker 1: you just have to assume when you're leaving for the weekend,
- 6:57Speaker 1: there's going to be something missing.
- 6:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:00Speaker 1: By the time you get home. And I just need
- 7:02Speaker 1: you to know I'm doing my best at all times.
- 7:05Speaker 1: And I just have an aspect of can't get right
- 7:08Speaker 1: in this one area. Which is fine.
- 7:10Speaker 3: The Yelp review is going to read, Willie C, great dad.
- 7:14Speaker 3: The kids never choke. They never drown. They make it
- 7:16Speaker 3: through the weekend. They get home safe. He crushes bedtime.
- 7:20Speaker 3: If you want a bedtime story, this is your guy.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Might lose a bottle.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Here and there. Might lose a bottle here and there.
- 7:25Speaker 1: 4.5 stars out of 5. Might lose a bottle here
- 7:30Speaker 1: and there. At some point, I need your... Again, we
- 7:34Speaker 1: didn't have to get into this conversation, but it was
- 7:35Speaker 1: going to be, I just need your brain to get
- 7:37Speaker 1: to you can't be surprised anymore. Just know that I'm
- 7:41Speaker 1: going to push myself to the limit every time. Yes.
- 7:44Speaker 1: And I'm very hard on myself when I drop the
- 7:45Speaker 1: ball in a small situation as far as leaving a
- 7:47Speaker 1: bottle of Cracker Barrel. Didn't, by the way, it was
- 7:49Speaker 1: behind the chair. Yes. Behind the rocker. But dad brain,
- 7:52Speaker 1: I didn't realize it fell down. But guess what?
- 7:54Speaker 2: It popped up.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You're just going to have to know. We got to
- 7:57Speaker 1: stop with the, you just can't be surprised anymore. I
- 8:01Speaker 1: can sympathize with the biter dad now. We have follow-ups
- 8:06Speaker 1: with the biter dad. Good. I sympathize with him now
- 8:09Speaker 1: because it's that same, hey, you know what? She's going
- 8:12Speaker 1: to bite.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Willie C's going to lose a bottle, and Sherm's just
- 8:16Speaker 3: going to completely forget that something was on the schedule
- 8:19Speaker 3: until two days before.
- 8:21Speaker 2: It's just going to happen. Yeah, yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 1: We do have follow-ups from the bite fiasco last week
- 8:27Speaker 1: where a report card came in about 50 bites for
- 8:31Speaker 1: a young one. He was asking for advice. We didn't
- 8:34Speaker 1: necessarily have very good advice for him. We have some follow-ups.
- 8:37Speaker 1: We did a proposal on last week's episodes for a couple.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Absolutely butchered the proposal. However, I'm hearing she said yes.
- 8:44Speaker 3: She did say yes. I have an APR directly from Jill.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Every single week, I don't get a full APR from
- 8:52Speaker 3: Jill on the episodes. She listened to this last week's episode.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I will try to quote her as close.
- 8:58Speaker 1: As I can. Y'all seemed very helpful this last episode.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's the APR?
- 9:06Speaker 2: That was the APR.
- 9:07Speaker 7: All right.
- 9:07Speaker 1: You know, we'll take that.
- 9:08Speaker 3: She said, y'all were really like kind of like giving
- 9:11Speaker 3: some advice and seemed very helpful this last episode.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Like it wasn't just, you know, jokes the entire time.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I go, okay. Yeah. We'll take a compliment where we
- 9:21Speaker 1: can get it. We'll take it. I go, do you
- 9:24Speaker 1: listen to a lot of the episodes? She was like, yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I like every other week. I listen to them.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I was like, okay.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Charo was ready to go. We were laying in bed
- 9:32Speaker 1: and Charo asked- It would be good to understand the
- 9:37Speaker 1: situation with the biting. Like, why is the bite happening?
- 9:41Speaker 1: What scene is taking place before the bite? Great question.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Is it, does the baby or does the little one
- 9:46Speaker 1: always think that they're playing? Is the little one going
- 9:49Speaker 1: through a developmental thing where biting is like their only
- 9:54Speaker 1: emotional response to something that's not going well for them?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Or is it another kid antagonizing the bite? She's like,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I need to understand. I would be asking the teacher,
- 10:04Speaker 1: what is taking place before the bite is happening? Let's
- 10:07Speaker 1: start with figuring out the why. She's like, 50 bites?
- 10:11Speaker 1: She's like, that's a lot of bites. That's a lot
- 10:13Speaker 1: of bites.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I'm glad that someone is on the side of biter. Like, Charo,
- 10:20Speaker 3: she's trying desperately to get in the mind of 50
- 10:23Speaker 3: biter and be like, why bite? She's asking the questions.
- 10:28Speaker 1: She's trying to take the stance of, like, what is
- 10:30Speaker 1: taking place? Like, if I'm the parent, I'm going in
- 10:32Speaker 1: and I'm like, what is taking place before the bite?
- 10:35Speaker 1: I'm sure these parents have done the same thing. Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And at this point, you just got to chalk it
- 10:39Speaker 1: up to, you know, when you leave for a weekend trip,
- 10:41Speaker 1: you're just going to have to assume that something's going
- 10:43Speaker 1: to go missing. Like, hey, the kid is just biting
- 10:45Speaker 1: right now.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Spoiler alert, Charles' mindset on that is my lesson of
- 10:51Speaker 3: the week.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Oh. It is my lesson of the week. I'm sure
- 10:55Speaker 1: Charles listening right now is fully aware that she has
- 10:58Speaker 1: taken the stance of won't be surprised because she would
- 11:00Speaker 1: flood me with the compliments of, like, you crushed. She
- 11:02Speaker 1: sent me a very nice text at the end of
- 11:04Speaker 1: the night when she was exhausted and needed to go
- 11:05Speaker 1: to bed. I want to stay up and watch Terminal List.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I had a nice couple back-to-back texts like, sweetheart, I
- 11:10Speaker 1: just want to let you know you crushed.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Wow.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Yeah. So that was a good one. That's a good feeling.
- 11:16Speaker 3: That's a good little dad win right there. I had
- 11:18Speaker 3: a really fun weekend too. We basically kind of had
- 11:21Speaker 3: our Halloween weekend this weekend because we'll be in Chicago.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Actual Halloween. And I'll get into it with my crack
- 11:30Speaker 3: of cold one.
- 11:30Speaker 1: We have a great dad hack for Halloween this weekend,
- 11:32Speaker 1: by the way. Just stay tuned. We have a good
- 11:34Speaker 1: dad hack that was written into us.
- 11:36Speaker 3: And we have one last housekeeping item. I have here
- 11:40Speaker 3: a special video for Will.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it's in the Dropbox. If you want to slide
- 11:47Speaker 4: the computer over to him, we'll just keep it at it.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's a very special video for Will. That's all we got.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:54Speaker 2: No spoilers.
- 11:55Speaker 1: What do you guys got? I don't know. What do
- 11:57Speaker 1: you guys? I don't know. I don't know what this is.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I really do not. I got some follow-ups here that
- 12:04Speaker 1: I can't wait to read. And you just watch it.
- 12:07Speaker 1: We'll put it on the screen for you. Okay. Is
- 12:14Speaker 1: this one of your AI videos? This is not an
- 12:17Speaker 1: AI video.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Okay.
- 12:20Speaker 8: Hello, Will Compton. Dan Gable, Olympic wrestling champion, championship coach,
- 12:25Speaker 8: and family guy talking. You have friends, and that's great,
- 12:31Speaker 8: and I'm one of them. Thanks for your bringing me
- 12:34Speaker 8: into your podcast and doing a good job. Your close
- 12:39Speaker 8: friends of Bussing with the Boys and Further Dads reached
- 12:43Speaker 8: out to me.
- 12:44Speaker 1: They let me know about you.
- 12:45Speaker 8: Getting your wife pregnant, and they used the word finally,
- 12:49Speaker 8: so that's great.
- 12:51Speaker 2: A boy.
- 12:52Speaker 8: Something I didn't do.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I had four girls. But with those four girls, I end.
- 12:56Speaker 8: Up having ten grandsons and four granddaughters. So I'm giving
- 13:01Speaker 8: you one big congratulations.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Hey, keep building me up. Thanks. What a legend, dude.
- 13:09Speaker 1: That is awesome. That is awesome.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Oh, Dan Gable, dude.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Danny G, bro. Yes, brother. He crushed, by the way.
- 13:20Speaker 1: He crushed it. I don't care if he's looking off
- 13:22Speaker 1: and reading whatever. That's Dan Gable, bro. That's Dan Gable.
- 13:26Speaker 1: He ain't got time to keep up with everything going on.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Doesn't give a shit.
- 13:30Speaker 5: No.
- 13:31Speaker 1: That's exactly how I needed my Dan Gable to be
- 13:33Speaker 1: in a video like that. Good. That's exactly how I
- 13:36Speaker 1: needed a Dan Gable to be.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Good.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I loved it.
- 13:39Speaker 3: It kind of unlocked a little something for me, too.
- 13:41Speaker 3: If I don't have sons, when he was like, I
- 13:44Speaker 3: had 10 grandsons, I was like, Oh, man, I didn't
- 13:46Speaker 3: even think about that.
- 13:47Speaker 1: He has 10 grandsons? 10 grandsons. Are they watching the
- 13:51Speaker 1: VHS tapes of the Dan Gable coaching back in the day?
- 13:55Speaker 1: It would be my question. Yeah. Like, pop in the tapes.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Your grandpa got busy, bro. Yes.
- 14:03Speaker 3: He's got his own VHS library at his house. That
- 14:06Speaker 3: little lake house he talks about where he works out,
- 14:09Speaker 3: he gets on the bike out by the lake, grandkids
- 14:12Speaker 3: come over.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Do you think his grandkids truly understand who their grandpa is?
- 14:18Speaker 1: They never will. Not like you do. If they're a gable,
- 14:22Speaker 1: you got to be optimistic that they will.
- 14:24Speaker 3: I think that they'll be able to personify that and
- 14:28Speaker 3: become that with good coaching, but you never truly appreciate.
- 14:33Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Yeah, because it's grandpa. Because
- 14:35Speaker 1: it's grandpa. That was awesome. Shout out to you guys.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Was that you, Deke? That's all Deke. Team effort, team effort.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Thank you, guys. Team effort. Thank you, Deke. It really
- 14:46Speaker 1: was Deke. Listen, Taylor gave me a one-on-one Emmitt Smith,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and I'm like, hey, he gifted it to me, and
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'm like, would you mind if I gift this to
- 14:54Speaker 1: my dad? Because he's a massive Cowboys fan. Or he
- 14:57Speaker 1: was back in the day.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Oh, that's sick.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Now, I want to say, my old man is going
- 15:04Speaker 1: to be so fired up that Dan Gable sent me
- 15:06Speaker 1: that personalized video. My old man, it was the stack
- 15:11Speaker 1: of VHS back in the wrestling days, bro. He'd have
- 15:13Speaker 1: us in there watching him.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I could already see Bill Compton watching it too and
- 15:18Speaker 3: adjusting his glasses and kind of look at you while
- 15:21Speaker 3: it's playing it.
- 15:24Speaker 5: Adjusting glasses.
- 15:27Speaker 1: You know the old man's proud of all the stuff
- 15:28Speaker 1: I've gotten to do. You got to play in the NFL,
- 15:31Speaker 1: but that Dan Gable video is going to be like...
- 15:35Speaker 1: He sent this to you, you guys' number? Will, how
- 15:39Speaker 1: did he send this to you? Hold on. Can we
- 15:41Speaker 1: call him right now? That is awesome. Thank you, guys.
- 15:45Speaker 1: We got some follow-ups here. We got some follow-ups. Here's
- 15:48Speaker 1: one right here from Matt Welch, the one who she
- 15:52Speaker 1: said yes to in spite of Will's reading, dot, dot, dot.
- 15:55Speaker 1: She said, yes, boys, hit the gong.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Oh, I felt so bad.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You crushed it. But he said it was perfect. He
- 16:04Speaker 1: said we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Good.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Good.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Good. I saw a lot of compliments to you staying
- 16:10Speaker 1: in the pocket, keeping me poised.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Hey, you got this.
- 16:15Speaker 1: You got it. Hit the gong.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Hit the gong.
- 16:16Speaker 1: On the one.
- 16:18Speaker 5: Line.
- 16:21Speaker 3: It was like mess up, mess up, and then the
- 16:22Speaker 3: one line we can't mess up on. I just loved
- 16:26Speaker 3: your reaction. You hated it the most. You hated it
- 16:29Speaker 3: the most. But a very good job. Brent, gosh, I'll
- 16:34Speaker 3: take a rip at this.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Chola.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Brent Chola says, 90s were a different time. I'm not
- 16:40Speaker 3: saying this is the move, but I was allegedly a
- 16:43Speaker 3: biter in preschool, according to my mom. I was one
- 16:47Speaker 3: bite away from being kicked out of preschool. My mom
- 16:50Speaker 3: bit the shit out of my arm to teach me
- 16:52Speaker 3: a lesson. I then became a functioning member of society
- 16:55Speaker 3: with understanding. 90s were a different time. You remember Ryan Tamales?
- 17:01Speaker 1: Oh, yes. I forget the thing that he was... He'd
- 17:05Speaker 1: known last time. Oh, I think it was like all
- 17:06Speaker 1: the childcare stuff.
- 17:07Speaker 2: He was on vacation.
- 17:09Speaker 1: We let everybody else raise the kids. Ryan Tamales writes in.
- 17:13Speaker 1: He's a fan of the show. He's a PT sicko.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He's got some more just negative fodder here. Oh, no.
- 17:20Speaker 1: For the kids biting. He says, if your kid has
- 17:23Speaker 1: bit somebody 50 times, you as a parent deserve to
- 17:25Speaker 1: get your ass beat. I forgot. What are we talking about?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Was that on YouTube? I read that. It was one
- 17:35Speaker 1: of the first comments on the episode. It said, for
- 17:38Speaker 1: the parents that have kids getting bit, start teaching them
- 17:40Speaker 1: how to throw some mother effing hands at all ages.
- 17:43Speaker 2: What?
- 17:46Speaker 1: Stop teaching your kids it's okay to be messed with
- 17:48Speaker 1: mentally or physically.
- 17:51Speaker 3: What's the parent group at public schools where it's like
- 17:54Speaker 3: all the booster parents?
- 17:56Speaker 1: PTA.
- 17:57Speaker 3: PTA meetings make so much more sense to me now, dude.
- 18:01Speaker 3: There's so many different types of parenting types in one room.
- 18:05Speaker 1: It sounds like you need your ass whooped. Hey, you
- 18:10Speaker 1: don't speak to my daughter like that. Well, your daughter
- 18:12Speaker 1: doesn't need to be biting everybody she sees. How about that? Oh,
- 18:18Speaker 1: praise to the biters, dude. Praise to the biters. Praise
- 18:20Speaker 1: to the biters, man.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Andrew Gatlin says, this is on Spotify. He said, glad
- 18:25Speaker 3: y'all loved the DARs. That's the dad. It's right there
- 18:32Speaker 3: in front of you, Willie C. I forget the active.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Come on, Sherm. You can't be butchering this. I know.
- 18:39Speaker 1: The Department of Dads. The Dad Action Ribbon.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Come on, man.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You have one. You're an award winner.
- 18:47Speaker 3: It's above my desk. It's above my desk. I am
- 18:50Speaker 3: so sorry, Andrew. My dad action ribbon. I'm so glad
- 18:55Speaker 3: that y'all loved them. And Andrew, I did love it.
- 18:57Speaker 3: It's above my desk right now. I'll have to send
- 18:59Speaker 3: an updated one for Will since he will be receiving
- 19:03Speaker 3: his third award soon.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Third tour.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Third tour.
- 19:07Speaker 3: And I wonder if having a boy, if that, you know,
- 19:12Speaker 3: if anything's different about it, if you get like a
- 19:14Speaker 3: different ribbon.
- 19:15Speaker 1: There's... Rumors in the air. Some boy dad merch coming.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Rumors in the air. Just putting that out there. Dude, Charles,
- 19:24Speaker 1: last night we were at dinner. And Charles was like
- 19:29Speaker 1: 16 weeks. And she's like, I don't know. I couldn't tell,
- 19:33Speaker 1: but I felt like I felt him. Felt him today.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Earlier today. I kind of perk up. I'm like, oh.
- 19:40Speaker 1: How hard is he kicking?
- 19:41Speaker 2: Is he strong?
- 19:42Speaker 6: No.
- 19:42Speaker 1: You want to know what my comment was? He's trying
- 19:45Speaker 1: to get in a three-point stance. He's already trying to
- 19:50Speaker 1: figure out the A-gap. Is he head up or is
- 19:55Speaker 1: he head down right now? He's got to be head down.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I don't know. He's roaming. He's got range in there
- 20:02Speaker 1: right now. How can I get around it, huh?
- 20:06Speaker 3: It's Will choosing a lollipop in a gas station, that
- 20:09Speaker 3: same stance where you're picking through stuff. He's trying to
- 20:13Speaker 3: find his way.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Yeah. He's like, how do I get out of here?
- 20:16Speaker 2: How do I go?
- 20:17Speaker 1: She's like, I feel like my stomach is bigger than
- 20:20Speaker 1: it was with Scott in the room. I'm like, it's
- 20:21Speaker 1: because he's a stud. God. Choro, I know what you're doing, too,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and keep doing it. She's teeing you up perfect. She's
- 20:30Speaker 1: saying all the right things. Man, this is, I mean,
- 20:35Speaker 1: he's heavy. He's just heavy. Yeah, he is. He's going
- 20:38Speaker 1: to have the tangibles. Yeah, he is. Oh, Chara, well done.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Well played. That was so good.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I got a PT6 community here from Dallas Gibson. Again,
- 20:49Speaker 1: you want to be featured on For the Dads. As
- 20:51Speaker 1: you can tell, we love reading comments. We have call-ins
- 20:53Speaker 1: later in the show. We have an email you can
- 20:55Speaker 1: write in, too, if you're on international soil. 601thedads at gmail.com.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Real quick, Will, could I say the amount of emails
- 21:02Speaker 4: I've gotten at ForTheDadsPod at Gmail after the episode where
- 21:05Speaker 4: you flipped them, we've gotten about six people that have
- 21:07Speaker 4: written to that one.
- 21:08Speaker 2: So it is, please, 601thedads at gmail.com.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Okay, 601thedads at gmail.com. That number that we're mentioning is
- 21:16Speaker 1: also the call-in hotline. Hey, there you go. Hey, did
- 21:19Speaker 1: he just say for the dad's ad? No, no, no.
- 21:22Speaker 2: He got it.
- 21:22Speaker 4: I wanted to get it out on the show that
- 21:24Speaker 4: guys say hit that one because a lot of people
- 21:26Speaker 4: were emailing the other one after that episode.
- 21:28Speaker 3: I was about to say my dad brain, if he
- 21:30Speaker 3: had said it, hit the gong.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Hit the guard. 601thedads at gmail.com. Come on, man. Dallas
- 21:37Speaker 1: Gibson here on Spotify. Who's going to teach Will's son
- 21:39Speaker 1: how to cut the grass? Oh, dude. Who said that?
- 21:42Speaker 1: Dallas Gibson. Dallas.
- 21:44Speaker 2: He said joking, of course. Okay, good.
- 21:47Speaker 1: He was joking. And it had five reaction laughing emojis
- 21:50Speaker 1: on Spotify.
- 21:53Speaker 3: People forget, and I'm just going to put it out there,
- 21:56Speaker 3: Will mowed the lawn growing up. He mowed his grandparents' lawn.
- 21:59Speaker 1: They know that. 20 bucks a pop, front and back.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Easy.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Come on. Even when I was a young little jit, bro,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I'd get on the second. I wouldn't be big enough
- 22:07Speaker 1: to do the high one, and I'd be on that
- 22:09Speaker 1: middle bar just pushing away. Well, my old man, you
- 22:12Speaker 1: got to keep it straight. You got to keep it steady.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Like I'm pushing a sled. How old were you once
- 22:17Speaker 1: you were able to get the ripcord going? Man, I
- 22:19Speaker 1: don't even know. Had to be what? Nine, ten? Yeah, yeah.
- 22:26Speaker 3: God, that was the sign that you were like really
- 22:28Speaker 3: going to be something when you were the friend in
- 22:30Speaker 3: the group that could get the go-kart started or something
- 22:33Speaker 3: started with one rep.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Once that tension hits right when you get it a
- 22:36Speaker 1: few inches away, you just can't yank it yet, bro.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Was there also any worse feeling when you couldn't get
- 22:42Speaker 2: it going and then you finally are like, shit, I
- 22:44Speaker 2: got to go ask my dad. He comes out there
- 22:46Speaker 2: and he's like, all you do is rip it. And
- 22:48Speaker 2: he just one starts it and looks over you and goes,
- 22:51Speaker 2: and you just have to sit with it.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And he goes to hand it to you, but you
- 22:55Speaker 1: don't clasp the other bar that goes down to the.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Oh, dude.
- 23:00Speaker 1: And it goes off again, and I'm like, oh, shit.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Stadium pulse at a maximum. Yeah. You got to hold...
- 23:08Speaker 1: What is that?
- 23:08Speaker 2: Or you fuck with the choke wrong. Like, you don't...
- 23:11Speaker 2: You put it to low choke, like, too soon, and
- 23:13Speaker 2: then it goes off, and he's like, son, come on.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I told you. You're choking. Keep it medium. Give it
- 23:17Speaker 2: a little gas.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and do the pump. The little oil pump thing.
- 23:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Golly. Got to keep, like, the metal bar connected
- 23:27Speaker 1: to the rail.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yep.
- 23:28Speaker 1: It'll work on your grip, son. Yeah.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I'm in.
- 23:32Speaker 1: And just.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Gravely is a sponsor, so I do want to throw
- 23:36Speaker 3: this out there. I am in the market for a
- 23:39Speaker 3: new mower. I have not had a Gravely mower in
- 23:42Speaker 3: the past. I'm going Gravely.
- 23:44Speaker 1: You have to. I've already put it out there. I
- 23:46Speaker 1: technically have to. I want to. I'm going Gravely. You're
- 23:50Speaker 1: excited to walk into Gravely.
- 23:51Speaker 6: I am.
- 23:52Speaker 3: And I'm excited to go to gas. I've been on
- 23:55Speaker 3: the electric game for a while. It's time to go
- 23:57Speaker 3: back to gas. Time to go back to American.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I have the cord plug-in one you want to
- 24:03Speaker 1: talk about.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm excited to go Gravely. I'm going to find my gravely, boys.
- 24:10Speaker 1: People are saying. The little powered ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Dylan Taylor wrote on YouTube. He said, boys, it's Masters
- 24:19Speaker 3: at Arms, a.k.a. the color guard commander for the University
- 24:23Speaker 3: of Nebraska. I love the shout out from Chef. It
- 24:27Speaker 3: was a pleasure meeting y'all Saturday out in the wild
- 24:30Speaker 3: at the Huskers game. Huge time listener. I have a
- 24:34Speaker 3: 10-year-old little girl, so it's great to hear you talk
- 24:36Speaker 3: about yours and reminiscing on the old days of her
- 24:40Speaker 3: at those ages. Love what you guys are doing. And Chef,
- 24:45Speaker 3: our dap up on the sideline was electric, and it
- 24:48Speaker 3: felt like we knew each other for years and have
- 24:50Speaker 3: been slamming beers for our whole lives. P.S., I have
- 24:54Speaker 3: tight photo with Willie C.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Putt.
- 24:59Speaker 3: I have tight photo with Willie C, but I'm not
- 25:02Speaker 3: sure how to upload it. I was a Tylenol baby,
- 25:05Speaker 3: if you know what I mean. From Dylan Taylor.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Nice shout out right there, Dylan Taylor.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Dylan Taylor, Masters at Arms.
- 25:13Speaker 2: So I got that right, yes, last week, right? When
- 25:15Speaker 2: I said, I think he's the Master at Arms.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I believe so.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Okay. Oh, sorry.
- 25:22Speaker 4: He put that in quotations and says, AKA the Color
- 25:24Speaker 4: Guard Commander.
- 25:25Speaker 2: So- Shit.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So you were wrong, but he's the color guard commander.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Color guard commander.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Gotcha. Sorry about that. When he said that out loud,
- 25:34Speaker 2: I was like, oh my God, I actually got it right.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I didn't know it was quotations. And Sherm just led
- 25:39Speaker 2: you down that path.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I said, hey, yeah, you did do it. Great job, Jeff. Oh,
- 25:46Speaker 1: thank you, Dylan. And 10-year-old daughter. You got to assume
- 25:50Speaker 1: he's starting to enter the real trenches. Oh, yeah. Having
- 25:53Speaker 1: a 10-year-old daughter.
- 25:54Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 25:55Speaker 1: It's like right now I'm up. Dude, I tell you what,
- 25:57Speaker 1: a nice little positive, a little dad win for competitive spirit.
- 26:01Speaker 1: When we were driving back from the bookstore yesterday to
- 26:04Speaker 1: get that sticker book, I took a different route than Mama.
- 26:09Speaker 1: And so we pulled up next to Mama, and she's like, well,
- 26:11Speaker 1: why don't you follow Mama? I'm like, because we got
- 26:12Speaker 1: to beat Mama home. Oh, Willie C. I'm like, do
- 26:16Speaker 1: you think we'll get home first, or do you think
- 26:17Speaker 1: Mama will get home first? She's like, Dada, we have
- 26:19Speaker 1: to win. And I'm like, that's what I'm talking about.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Here we go. Here we go. We're unlocking something in
- 26:25Speaker 1: brew right now.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 1: And then when we got home, she's like, Dada, we're
- 26:29Speaker 1: home before mom and Scotty. We have to go hide.
- 26:31Speaker 2: All right.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Like, let's get inside. We get the shoes off. She's like,
- 26:38Speaker 1: where do you want to hide? And I'm like, well,
- 26:38Speaker 1: let's stand by the window and see where they're coming.
- 26:40Speaker 1: So that way we're not just hiding in a hiding
- 26:42Speaker 1: spot for 20 minutes. Dad hack. Yeah. So I'm standing
- 26:46Speaker 1: by the window and I'm like, oh, here they come.
- 26:47Speaker 1: We got to go. So we go and hide like
- 26:49Speaker 1: in the back closet and like a dark closet. I'm like,
- 26:51Speaker 1: are you sure you want to hide back here? Like,
- 26:52Speaker 1: we should probably make it easy. They don't even know
- 26:54Speaker 1: we're hiding from them. She's like, no, no, no, let's
- 26:57Speaker 1: go behind the door in the closet. You go first.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, I'll stand there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:01Speaker 1: We get in. We hear Mama and Scotty come in
- 27:02Speaker 1: the house. They're putting stuff down. And they're like, Dada? Ruru?
- 27:08Speaker 1: And then they just start living their life. And I'm like, Ruru,
- 27:11Speaker 1: we have to let them. They don't know that we're
- 27:13Speaker 1: playing hide and seek right now.
- 27:15Speaker 2: They don't know. She's like, we can't tell them.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm like, we got to say something. They're not going
- 27:19Speaker 1: to find us in this back closet. Jill started making
- 27:23Speaker 1: some noises. Yeah, we started yelling where our position is.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I'm like, let me turn a little bit of this
- 27:27Speaker 1: light on because it was all dark going through the room,
- 27:29Speaker 1: dark going into the bathroom, dark. And then we're in
- 27:31Speaker 1: my closet in the bathroom behind the door. Oh, which
- 27:34Speaker 1: is opposite side of the garage. Y'all are on the
- 27:36Speaker 1: other side of the house, bro.
- 27:38Speaker 7: Yes.
- 27:40Speaker 1: They're nowhere near you. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Oh, dude, Rue's in a good little mindset right now. Yeah,
- 27:45Speaker 3: she's in a good little headspace. She had to apologize.
- 27:48Speaker 1: To me on Sunday. She was helping mom. do the
- 27:50Speaker 1: costumes the where the wild things are costumes for this
- 27:53Speaker 1: weekend how are those going after you're done with this
- 27:55Speaker 1: roost they're progressing okay good progressing and um rue came
- 28:00Speaker 1: in to apologize to me after i was in the
- 28:02Speaker 1: sauna for i went 20 in cooling period for five
- 28:06Speaker 1: minutes back in for another 20 but rue came to
- 28:08Speaker 1: apologize because she's like i'm sorry i didn't do the
- 28:10Speaker 1: sauna today because sunday's supposed to be sauna that's right
- 28:13Speaker 1: she didn't want to rip it with that Oh, man.
- 28:16Speaker 1: She came in. She's like, hey, Dad, I'm sorry that
- 28:18Speaker 1: I didn't do the sauna. I'm like, hey, it's all good.
- 28:21Speaker 1: We got more time. There's going to be more opportunities. Yes.
- 28:24Speaker 1: This is one Sunday of many future Sundays. Yeah, but
- 28:27Speaker 1: we got to tighten it up. You know what I mean?
- 28:29Speaker 1: It's like you give them the leash. Hey, it's all good.
- 28:32Speaker 3: And if Rue, if I'm sitting there and I'm twisting
- 28:34Speaker 3: your arm to do the sauna every day, is Rue
- 28:36Speaker 3: doing the sauna or.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Is Dad doing the sauna? Exactly. Rue's got to want
- 28:40Speaker 1: to do the sauna. Rue's got to want to do
- 28:41Speaker 1: the sauna. But hey, go enjoy the A.C., Yeah, go
- 28:44Speaker 1: enjoy the AC. Go enjoy being comfortable. As she's walking off,
- 28:47Speaker 1: go and lead a horse to Waterloo. Can't make her drink.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Love you, honey. You want to draw, Dada? Dad losses.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Do you have a dad loss? I guess I shared
- 28:59Speaker 1: my dad loss, like losing the bottle momentarily. That's right.
- 29:03Speaker 1: And I should have fit in my dad loss. I
- 29:07Speaker 1: almost had another one. We almost overslept for ballet. Almost.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Almost.
- 29:13Speaker 3: How much does ballet set your day up for success?
- 29:16Speaker 3: Is ballet a weekend?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Ballet is on Saturdays. Dude. Ballet is on Saturdays. It's
- 29:21Speaker 1: at 9 o'clock. Does it just set the day up
- 29:23Speaker 1: for success for y'all? Yeah, like you get rocking to
- 29:26Speaker 1: hit ballet first, and then you go into the next iterations.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Absolutely it does.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Gymnastics is the same for us.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And Charo FaceTimed, and I kind of answer, like, we've
- 29:37Speaker 1: got to get up. We've got to get rolling. It
- 29:38Speaker 1: was about 8 o'clock. You've got to get both kids ready.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And then get out of the house by like 8.40.
- 29:44Speaker 1: But you know what I mean? It's breakfast, it's all
- 29:46Speaker 1: the stuff. You've got so many moving parts to get
- 29:49Speaker 1: it done right. Yeah. It's coming off a couple days.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I don't want to sit there and bitch and complain,
- 29:53Speaker 1: but exhaustion with the shows and the travel and my
- 29:56Speaker 1: wife leaving me. For the weekend, solo, all the childcare.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Ryan Tamale's like this. I had no childcare coming to
- 30:03Speaker 1: save your boy. I had to raise him myself. He's going,
- 30:09Speaker 1: thank you, God. Oh, God forbid you got to watch
- 30:11Speaker 1: the kids. But anyway, we did a sleepover with me,
- 30:18Speaker 1: but we got to get rolling. You always miss. It's
- 30:22Speaker 1: the always, sweetheart. It's the always, and she knows this.
- 30:26Speaker 1: But it's the always. You want to get me in
- 30:28Speaker 1: kind of like a certain mood. I got very short
- 30:31Speaker 1: with her after she says, yeah, but you always miss ballet.
- 30:33Speaker 1: And I'm thinking, that was one time. One time we
- 30:37Speaker 1: missed ballet. And I was like, oh, always. She's like, oh, yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And she's trying to keep it light. And I'm like,
- 30:45Speaker 1: all right, hey, I got to go. We got to
- 30:46Speaker 1: get to ballet. Kept it short with her. You know
- 30:49Speaker 1: what I mean? She had some of her people around
- 30:51Speaker 1: her up to you. You're kind of hitting me with
- 30:53Speaker 1: always right now, and you triggered me. We're going to
- 30:55Speaker 1: show your candy ass, and we're going to get to ballet.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Did we get to ballet? Of course we got to ballet.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Did we eat a waffle on the way to ballet?
- 31:04Speaker 1: Of course you did.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Of course we did. A protein waffle. Did Godzilla get
- 31:09Speaker 3: her baba in the car?
- 31:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah, dude. Car babas are.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:14Speaker 8: And.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Dad had put Scotty in a ponytail, which Charles was
- 31:18Speaker 1: wildly impressed because we haven't gotten her hair into a
- 31:20Speaker 1: ponytail yet. But dad did. With the little micro rubber bands?
- 31:25Speaker 1: I don't fuck with those, bro. What are you using?
- 31:27Speaker 1: Those scare me. Those scare me too. Actual just the
- 31:29Speaker 1: hair ties. The rubber bands, the little thin rubber bands,
- 31:32Speaker 1: they just scare me with like... Pulling the scalp. Yes, bro.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Like when I got to get Scotty's hair, like when
- 31:39Speaker 1: she has a couple of cute pigtails going and I'm
- 31:41Speaker 1: sitting up there, I'm like, I got to get these
- 31:42Speaker 1: off of her. And I'm always looking at these micro.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Because then you grab pieces of the hair while you're
- 31:46Speaker 1: trying to pull them off. And she'll be like, ow. Well, yes.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And so those just, those intimidate me. I hate having,
- 31:54Speaker 1: because you can't like, you know, when you have the
- 31:56Speaker 1: regular hair tie.
- 31:57Speaker 5: Yes.
- 31:58Speaker 1: You can just kind of pull it off. You know
- 32:00Speaker 1: what I mean?
- 32:00Speaker 2: And it slides right off.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Slides off. The rubber band ones, you got to grab
- 32:06Speaker 1: the little, you got to grab one of the little
- 32:08Speaker 1: deals and like work it off.
- 32:09Speaker 3: And if I don't have nails, I'm then having to
- 32:13Speaker 3: like almost use one hand, bad radio, but one hand to...
- 32:17Speaker 3: Press down on Scarlett's hair to make sure the hair
- 32:20Speaker 3: is locked in so now I can fully pull the
- 32:23Speaker 3: rubber band off and it's not like ripping hair out
- 32:25Speaker 3: of her head.
- 32:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 3: But Jill's sitting there going like, oh, yeah, you just
- 32:29Speaker 3: pull it out. Like, yeah, it's going to pull on
- 32:31Speaker 3: her hair a little bit, but like she gets used
- 32:33Speaker 3: to that. And I'm like, that looks like that hurts
- 32:36Speaker 3: really bad. Yeah, it doesn't feel like she's.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Getting used to it.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:38Speaker 2: She's telling me ouch.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Ouch. Then you get to the spot where you got
- 32:42Speaker 1: it in your nails, but you're starting to lose it,
- 32:44Speaker 1: but you're like two-thirds of the way there. And you're like,
- 32:48Speaker 1: do I just keep yanking? I can't let go because
- 32:50Speaker 1: if I let go, it's going to get caught up
- 32:51Speaker 1: in the hair.
- 32:52Speaker 3: And so I'm pulling, and it's going to pull right now.
- 32:56Speaker 3: But I see a little bit of hair that's leaking
- 32:58Speaker 3: out that I can funnel through with my other finger.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Yes, bro. Well, it's the worst. You've got the two
- 33:04Speaker 1: little ribs left that are still down at the base
- 33:06Speaker 1: because you've got that one going.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 1: It's the worst.
- 33:11Speaker 3: But apparently once you get like two of those things
- 33:14Speaker 3: off and you only have like the two rings left,
- 33:16Speaker 3: you can just, you're good to go.
- 33:18Speaker 1: It comes out smooth, but it's just grabbing the hair
- 33:20Speaker 1: and I just feel bad with my little girl. Like
- 33:22Speaker 1: I'm like, I know that I'm not trying to hurt you. God,
- 33:24Speaker 1: I couldn't feel you. I couldn't feel you more on that.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Couldn't feel you more.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Had a really big dad loss that I turned into
- 33:31Speaker 3: a dad win.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Let's hear about it.
- 33:34Speaker 3: I don't know how much detail I can go into.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Maybe I can give like a little bit of detail
- 33:38Speaker 3: that isn't TMI, but it's just some good detail. Jill
- 33:43Speaker 3: was a little frustrated with my pace of dish cleaning.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I'm cleaning the dishes, Will. You say your pace? My
- 33:53Speaker 1: pace at which I'm cleaning the dishes. Okay. Okay. So
- 33:58Speaker 1: I'm getting a talking to. I then say, You know what?
- 34:04Speaker 1: You said you can't.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Get in bed until the dishes are clean, but I'm
- 34:07Speaker 3: the one doing the dishes. Why don't you just go
- 34:11Speaker 3: to the bed, get your comfy jammies on, and go
- 34:14Speaker 3: throw on that foot massager that I got you for
- 34:17Speaker 3: your birthday that you love so much, and go throw
- 34:20Speaker 3: on one of your favorite shows? She can't do that
- 34:22Speaker 3: if she knows the dishes are dirty.
- 34:27Speaker 1: My brain....
- 34:30Speaker 3: And I don't want to be insensitive. I don't want
- 34:32Speaker 3: to say too much. But my brain went to, this
- 34:36Speaker 3: is a little bit extra than what the usual, like
- 34:42Speaker 3: Jill wanting to get this figured out. She seems maybe
- 34:45Speaker 3: a little bit more.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Upset than usual. Yeah, I'm hearing a little tone. I'm
- 34:48Speaker 1: hearing a little tone. And so I said, what if
- 34:51Speaker 1: I made some popcorn and got a little bowl of
- 34:53Speaker 1: ice cream for you? She said she didn't want that.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I said, I think you do. She went to bed.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Popcorn and ice cream?
- 35:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:08Speaker 1: She went to bed. I came in there.
- 35:09Speaker 3: I made it in the pot, like the one where
- 35:12Speaker 3: you put oil and you throw the kernels in there.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Threw a little butter on there, a little salt on there.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Came and placed it next to her in bed. She's
- 35:21Speaker 3: still kind of frustrated on her phone and her reality
- 35:23Speaker 3: TV's gone and the little foot massager.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I didn't say a word.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I go get a little bowl of ice cream. I
- 35:32Speaker 3: go give it to her. Come back in after I'm
- 35:35Speaker 3: done doing the dishes, and she said, you fixed me.
- 35:40Speaker 1: She said, you were right. I did want those snacks.
- 35:42Speaker 1: I said, oh, okay.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Interesting, interesting. Yes, Deke.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Just a question from the audience.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I feel like she kind of owns you, bro. Okay.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I can see where you're coming from. The phone, the
- 36:03Speaker 1: reality TV, feet in the foot massager?
- 36:07Speaker 2: Echoing you about the dishes?
- 36:09Speaker 3: I got to take my time on the dishes was
- 36:11Speaker 3: the beautiful part. I got to throw on my little
- 36:13Speaker 3: Game of Thrones audio book.
- 36:14Speaker 1: A nice dad hack is you lean toward doing the dishes.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I took my sweet time.
- 36:20Speaker 3: And I made her some snacks that she said she
- 36:22Speaker 3: definitely did not want that. Did not want the snacks.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Wasn't in the mood for it.
- 36:28Speaker 1: I said, I think you are.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I think you are.
- 36:33Speaker 1: When she said, you fixed me, did you follow up with,
- 36:37Speaker 1: now you can go clean that pot? That's what I
- 36:41Speaker 1: should have done. That's what I should have done. Hey,
- 36:43Speaker 1: those dishes you just finished off, they need some cleaning.
- 36:48Speaker 3: And I think the dishwasher's already going because I started it.
- 36:51Speaker 3: So you might want to hand wash that pot. You
- 36:54Speaker 3: might want to hand wash that.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Got the sponge ready for you. Uh-huh. I just, my
- 36:59Speaker 1: spider senses were tingling. It's an epidemic. It's an epidemic.
- 37:06Speaker 1: My wife's the same way. In the mentality of you
- 37:11Speaker 1: can't get comfortable until all the things in their mental load,
- 37:16Speaker 1: the cleaning around the house is done.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 37:18Speaker 1: And good to go. You can't take a load off
- 37:20Speaker 1: for just a few minutes.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Before everything's done. Because I try to introduce Charo like, hey,
- 37:27Speaker 1: let me teach you about this world a little bit.
- 37:29Speaker 1: You just get done doing bedtime. I know there's a
- 37:31Speaker 1: couple toys and a couple things around the house that, yeah,
- 37:34Speaker 1: could we tidy them up and it be all clean? Absolutely.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Now, when you're doing this, really quick, is she sitting
- 37:41Speaker 3: on the couch? Are you standing up in the living
- 37:43Speaker 3: room and just kind of talking and using your hands
- 37:45Speaker 3: while you're breaking this down for her?
- 37:47Speaker 1: Feet are kicked up on the couch.
- 37:49Speaker 2: She's walking down from her rabbit bed.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Her rabbit bed? Like whether it's Scottie Rue, like if
- 37:54Speaker 1: she's coming down last. She's coming down and I'm already
- 37:56Speaker 1: thinking in my head, I didn't hit the toys. The
- 38:00Speaker 1: couple toys. I'm not saying it's a mess. It's like
- 38:02Speaker 1: a couple things. The lights on in the laundry room.
- 38:05Speaker 1: You know what I mean? If you got an Ollipop
- 38:08Speaker 1: in one hand, it may be like the other hand
- 38:10Speaker 1: like this. Let me teach you a little something about life.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Just a little.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Let me give you a little two cents. Don't even
- 38:18Speaker 3: look at the couple things you need taken care of.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Come kick your feet up on the couch. Step over
- 38:23Speaker 3: the fire truck. Watch your step. Watch your step.
- 38:25Speaker 1: We got the Cowboys Eagles are on right now. Kick
- 38:28Speaker 1: your feet up and just forget about everything else.
- 38:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Take a load off. We'll handle the couple lights and
- 38:35Speaker 1: the couple toys we got to clean up here in
- 38:37Speaker 1: the bed.
- 38:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 1: As we're going to bed.
- 38:39Speaker 2: You know what?
- 38:39Speaker 1: You don't even think about it. I'll take care of
- 38:41Speaker 1: those things.
- 38:42Speaker 3: You're teaching her about the bare necessities. You know, there's
- 38:46Speaker 3: just Hakuna Matata, babe.
- 38:48Speaker 1: It's fine. Don't let your mental load control you. Yes.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Sometimes just be like, you.
- 38:53Speaker 1: F * * * the mental load right now.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Let's go kick the feet up on the couch.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Enjoy a few minutes of downtime.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Here's a little ollie pop for you. You want me
- 39:03Speaker 1: to clean the house when there's a two-minute drill going
- 39:05Speaker 1: on right now?
- 39:07Speaker 3: Babe, do you realize the average household does not do
- 39:10Speaker 3: dishes during a two-minute drill? You do realize that, right?
- 39:14Speaker 3: Even those families that are watching soccer halfway across the world,
- 39:17Speaker 3: they ain't doing the dishes during the soccer game.
- 39:20Speaker 1: But I've found that, I'm not going to even say
- 39:23Speaker 1: the majority of wives. I don't have the data yet.
- 39:26Speaker 1: But based on your example, based on my experiences, I
- 39:29Speaker 1: feel like the... the female, the wife brain, they can't
- 39:32Speaker 1: be comfortable unless the things are done around the house
- 39:35Speaker 1: before they get comfortable.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Which usually that is the argument of I'm not doing it.
- 39:42Speaker 3: But when it was happening while I was doing it,
- 39:46Speaker 3: My brain said, there's some other factors at play here,
- 39:49Speaker 3: and I'll leave it at that.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Because, man, we can be comfortable in the chaos
- 39:57Speaker 1: or a mess.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:59Speaker 1: That's that yin and yang. That's that partnership. That's that
- 40:01Speaker 1: marriage dynamic. Yes, dude. That you end up, you know.
- 40:05Speaker 1: How's yours going, Deke? You're a newly married man. Have
- 40:08Speaker 1: you been hit?
- 40:09Speaker 2: We celebrated one month yesterday.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 40:12Speaker 4: We made it through the first month, which is the hardest,
- 40:14Speaker 4: people say. No, it's going really well. The veil of
- 40:17Speaker 4: comfortability is there where it's like, what are you going
- 40:18Speaker 4: to do, file paperwork and leave me?
- 40:20Speaker 2: You're not. That takes a lot of shit.
- 40:23Speaker 1: We can do it.
- 40:24Speaker 4: But no, we signed up to host a Halloween party
- 40:26Speaker 4: on Friday, and we are going through it with that. Yeah,
- 40:30Speaker 4: I'm on cleaning duty the rest of the week. So
- 40:32Speaker 4: it's been great.
- 40:33Speaker 1: You can't throw comments like that. What do you do?
- 40:36Speaker 3: File paperwork? So Deke's watching the two-minute drill. That's good
- 40:40Speaker 3: to know.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Talk about a trigger sentence right there. You're going to
- 40:44Speaker 1: file paperwork and leave me? What are you going to do?
- 40:48Speaker 1: Tell your family we failed?
- 40:49Speaker 2: Grow up.
- 40:50Speaker 3: You said I do like what? A couple of weeks ago.
- 40:52Speaker 3: I mean, now you don't?
- 40:54Speaker 4: She has the same thing where she can't breathe oxygen
- 40:57Speaker 4: unless her to-do list is done. And I introduced her
- 40:59Speaker 4: to breaks the other day. I said, look at this
- 41:02Speaker 4: long list of shit right here.
- 41:03Speaker 1: That's a break.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Right after we vacuum, right before we mop, that's a break.
- 41:07Speaker 2: That's a break.
- 41:08Speaker 4: She doesn't buy it, but in my brain I'm like, yeah,
- 41:10Speaker 4: let's do a little shit. Take an hour, watch a
- 41:12Speaker 4: show or something, do some more shit. Take a little break.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Grab you a snack.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Grab you a snack.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Dad hack or just husband hack, laundry is the best
- 41:21Speaker 3: break slash still getting stuff done of all time. You
- 41:26Speaker 3: get the laundry folding while You got the dancing with
- 41:29Speaker 3: the stars or the football game or whatever you're watching.
- 41:32Speaker 4: That was a dad hack a couple of episodes ago.
- 41:35Speaker 4: The guy was like, just do laundry and bring it
- 41:37Speaker 4: with you. Oh, well, that's where I learned it.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Football, I think, was what it was.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it. That was a good one.
- 41:42Speaker 1: It is a fabulous dad hack. Speaking of dad hacks,
- 41:45Speaker 1: I got one here from Zach Amundsen on Spotify. This
- 41:48Speaker 1: is a. This is one, a follow up with like
- 41:52Speaker 1: the hitting. Oh, dad hack. When my daughter, 13 months,
- 41:56Speaker 1: starts hitting mom, dad or herself. we redirect her with
- 42:00Speaker 1: we blow kisses instead. So now she knows just to
- 42:03Speaker 1: blow a kiss or is able to quickly correct with
- 42:05Speaker 1: a little direction. Charles had an APR on that too.
- 42:08Speaker 1: And she's like, I know you were doing the, the,
- 42:10Speaker 1: the no hit whatever my explanation was on like the
- 42:12Speaker 1: laughing Charles like yeah what did Charles say because Charles
- 42:15Speaker 1: like I'm very intentional about the the whole hitting thing
- 42:19Speaker 1: and it is redirection like when Scotty's hitting she'd be
- 42:22Speaker 1: like oh hands up hands up and just putting hands
- 42:24Speaker 1: up to like redirect their brain into doing something else
- 42:28Speaker 1: to get out of the because was it you saying
- 42:32Speaker 1: you want your nose to be nose yeah stuff like
- 42:34Speaker 1: that like utilizing like still utilizing that concept yeah something
- 42:38Speaker 1: like that's happening just getting their brain to redirect on
- 42:41Speaker 1: something else. She was like, I go on the full,
- 42:44Speaker 1: she's like, I know you said like you laugh and
- 42:46Speaker 1: do all this stuff. She's like, if you're watching me,
- 42:48Speaker 1: like I do full philosophy on redirection of things you
- 42:52Speaker 1: don't want them doing. Yes, that's exactly. Oh, hands up,
- 42:56Speaker 1: hands up. And then they, you know, hands go up.
- 42:58Speaker 1: She's like, if you notice with Scotty, I'm like, I mean,
- 43:00Speaker 1: I'll notice the hitting and I'll kind of chuckle or whatever.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exactly, that's really, really funny because that's what
- 43:06Speaker 3: Jill did a bit of research. on the matter and
- 43:10Speaker 3: then we have the 15 month appointment. So she was
- 43:13Speaker 3: like asking our doctor and it was that exact same
- 43:17Speaker 3: thing of like get their mind onto another action that
- 43:21Speaker 3: is a positive action or like almost a distraction from
- 43:26Speaker 3: what is upsetting them because they're not that upset about
- 43:29Speaker 3: whatever's upsetting them. Once they can fully process that emotion
- 43:34Speaker 3: of like, I'm upset about blank, but now we've moved
- 43:37Speaker 3: on to B, you know, Now we're all about B.
- 43:40Speaker 3: So when we go back to A, we might actually
- 43:43Speaker 3: like eat the food that we were mad about, like
- 43:46Speaker 3: not wanting to eat. And it, it like really did work.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Like it was crazy how Scarlett was like throwing a tantrum.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Then we get her distracted a bit and get her
- 43:57Speaker 3: onto something.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Jill really was doing this.
- 44:00Speaker 3: And then as soon as she went back to her plate,
- 44:02Speaker 3: just starts doing fistfuls of food with the tears still
- 44:05Speaker 3: on her face.
- 44:06Speaker 1: And I'm like, money. I don't know. I don't know
- 44:10Speaker 1: how that worked, but so good. Like kudos, Charo. Shout
- 44:15Speaker 1: out the wives, man. Shout out the wives.
- 44:16Speaker 3: But we didn't implement like an action like right when
- 44:20Speaker 3: that happens, but I want to do that.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you give feedback. You can see
- 44:25Speaker 1: if it works. Yes.
- 44:26Speaker 3: When Scarlet falls and it's like a big tumble, I
- 44:30Speaker 3: really do try to do that to make her like tough.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. And be like, whoa, that was really cool.
- 44:37Speaker 1: And like, oh, you're so strong, Scarlett. Good job. And,
- 44:40Speaker 1: you know, try and do stuff. But I need to
- 44:42Speaker 1: implement that with the bad stuff. One I found, because
- 44:46Speaker 1: Chef got to witness some of the Scotty not eating
- 44:49Speaker 1: or just some of the stuff at dinner. But Scotty
- 44:53Speaker 1: likes to like point her finger on this like little,
- 44:55Speaker 1: you know, there's like in the wood, whether there's like
- 44:57Speaker 1: a little hole or a black spot, she just loves
- 44:59Speaker 1: to like put her finger on it and act like
- 45:01Speaker 1: she's playing. So I've started to put my hand over
- 45:03Speaker 1: her hand And then she'll put her other hand on
- 45:06Speaker 1: my hand and we'll do the hand stack. And then
- 45:09Speaker 1: I'll lean into her and I'm like, all right, we're
- 45:11Speaker 1: going to say, you want to say mama on three?
- 45:13Speaker 1: And she'll be like, yeah. And we'll be like, one, two, three, mama.
- 45:17Speaker 1: And we've started this little game of stacking hands during dinner.
- 45:22Speaker 1: She tells it up mama and she'll want to do
- 45:23Speaker 1: another one. I'm like, oh, we can't do another one
- 45:24Speaker 1: until you take a bite of food.
- 45:26Speaker 2: A question about that.
- 45:27Speaker 1: It's gotten her to eat. It's gotten her to eat
- 45:29Speaker 1: a lot better.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I got a question about that because I was curious
- 45:32Speaker 2: because I noticed that maybe later like dinner's about to
- 45:36Speaker 2: end on the hand stacking you you almost went for
- 45:39Speaker 2: like a no no hand stack and then i saw
- 45:41Speaker 2: almost almost had an eruption from scotty so is it
- 45:45Speaker 2: like a how do you cut off the hand stacking
- 45:47Speaker 2: because she just wants to keep doing it at least
- 45:49Speaker 2: from what i saw yeah it looked like.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Rue was involved in wanting to do it too it's
- 45:52Speaker 1: like when they're both trying to do it i'm trying
- 45:54Speaker 1: to like corral both and i'm almost just now like
- 45:57Speaker 1: in in the action in real time figuring out like
- 46:00Speaker 1: okay this can help because it's like scotty won't eat
- 46:03Speaker 1: she'll want mama to feed her charles trying to eat
- 46:05Speaker 1: and then she's gotta she'll get the fork like she'll
- 46:08Speaker 1: she'll allow char to do it but to To combat it,
- 46:12Speaker 1: what I've been realizing is, like, when I get her
- 46:14Speaker 1: to do that, and it's just me and her doing it,
- 46:16Speaker 1: the one, two, three, say whatever. She wanted to say mama, dada, rue, waffle,
- 46:22Speaker 1: and Uncle Wyatt all at the same time. Like, as
- 46:25Speaker 1: we're doing, like, go, you know, one, two, three, Uncle Wyatt, mama,
- 46:27Speaker 1: roll off the whole Rolodex. But I won't do another one.
- 46:31Speaker 1: You have to eat a bite first, then we'll continue
- 46:33Speaker 1: to play.
- 46:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Gotcha. And you haven't gotten– what I noticed is that she, like–
- 46:37Speaker 2: started to yell when you're like no not yet and
- 46:40Speaker 2: i was wondering do you ever like if you go
- 46:41Speaker 2: like no you gotta eat first is there ever like
- 46:44Speaker 2: interruption or like does she like in between that and
- 46:48Speaker 2: then you're like okay go back to the hand stack
- 46:50Speaker 2: because it looked like a negotiate like there was a
- 46:52Speaker 2: dance there from how i saw it.
- 46:54Speaker 1: What interruption of scotty are you talking.
- 46:56Speaker 2: About like uh i forgot i think you said something
- 46:58Speaker 2: like uh or maybe it was like used as like
- 47:01Speaker 2: you used it like she looked like she might have
- 47:03Speaker 2: was about to start crying and you're like oh let's
- 47:05Speaker 2: do the hand stack And I was like, okay, that's
- 47:08Speaker 2: like a deterrent from the hand stack. But then I
- 47:10Speaker 2: was like, my mind goes to like with Rue when
- 47:13Speaker 2: she was showing that she didn't have eyeballs on and
- 47:15Speaker 2: stuff like that. And I realized I fed into that,
- 47:18Speaker 2: which I realized very quickly. I laughed too hard because
- 47:20Speaker 2: then it was the funniest thing in the world. And
- 47:22Speaker 2: then I was kind of stuck between a rock and
- 47:24Speaker 2: a hard place for a couple minutes, continuing to laugh
- 47:27Speaker 2: at it. But I was sitting there. I was like, oh,
- 47:30Speaker 2: I wonder if it ever gets to the world. Like
- 47:31Speaker 2: if Will says no, no hand stack, it's Armageddon.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Um, the hand stack is used. Like if she's upset
- 47:42Speaker 1: and I'm like, all right, let's go to the hand stack.
- 47:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to redirect her brain. I'm like, Hey, let's
- 47:45Speaker 1: get to the hand stack doing something she might want
- 47:47Speaker 1: to do. I might go three in a row.
- 47:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 47:50Speaker 1: So that way her full mentality is we're playing the
- 47:52Speaker 1: hand stack game right now. Once I get her in
- 47:54Speaker 1: the full mentality of we're having fun, we're playing and
- 47:56Speaker 1: she's in a better mood. Then I go into, okay,
- 47:59Speaker 1: we'll do another one. You have to take a bite
- 48:00Speaker 1: first where she wasn't eating at all. And then all
- 48:03Speaker 1: of a sudden she's down to take bites and eat
- 48:05Speaker 1: because you can't do another hand stack until you take
- 48:07Speaker 1: a bite.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Yeah. It's psychological warfare.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Oh, at all times. At all times. It is.
- 48:12Speaker 3: And I'm very much on the precipice of that beginning
- 48:16Speaker 3: with going outside. Scarlett has learned her first two syllable word.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Outside. Outside.
- 48:24Speaker 3: And she just goes to the front door and just
- 48:26Speaker 3: smacks on the front door. And if we don't go
- 48:29Speaker 3: open the front door and we go outside and walk
- 48:32Speaker 3: around and look at the Halloween decorations, meltdown.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Meltdown.
- 48:37Speaker 3: And so it happened right before dinner. We didn't have
- 48:40Speaker 3: enough time to go outside right before dinner. And I
- 48:44Speaker 3: don't know if she can understand me. She's 15 months.
- 48:47Speaker 3: But I'm sitting there bouncing her going, If we eat
- 48:50Speaker 3: our food, Dada will go outside with you. We'll go
- 48:53Speaker 3: outside in the pink car. I'll push you around in
- 48:56Speaker 3: the pink car. She got that fork and just was
- 48:59Speaker 3: knocking the eggs out and started doing the all done
- 49:03Speaker 3: hands like pretty quick. And I was like, I think
- 49:06Speaker 3: she might understand what's going on here. So I was like,
- 49:09Speaker 3: do you want to go outside? She just starts bucking
- 49:12Speaker 3: in that eye chair. I was like, all right, well,
- 49:14Speaker 3: you finished your plate. So let's go outside. Let's go
- 49:16Speaker 3: knock it out. That was like my first little iteration
- 49:19Speaker 3: of it. you have them starting to understand and i
- 49:22Speaker 3: don't know i mean like i said she's about to
- 49:25Speaker 3: be 16 months but it felt like she understood yeah
- 49:28Speaker 3: bro you got to give these little ones some credit
- 49:30Speaker 3: now yeah you understand a little bit more than you
- 49:32Speaker 3: like have like i wonder if she even knows what
- 49:34Speaker 3: i'm saying like sometimes no but it These little ones,
- 49:37Speaker 3: they're a resilient bunch.
- 49:38Speaker 2: It is crazy.
- 49:39Speaker 1: They can figure out some stuff going on. Yes.
- 49:42Speaker 3: When you think that they're just like a little baby,
- 49:44Speaker 3: you know, da-da-da, and then all of a sudden they're, hi, da-da.
- 49:48Speaker 1: From like real far away. And I'm like, man, she's
- 49:50Speaker 1: locked in at all times. Yeah. Just absorbing stuff, seeing things. Yeah.
- 49:57Speaker 3: I have a bonus dad hack along with, I have
- 49:59Speaker 3: a dad hack right here. My bonus dad hack, we
- 50:02Speaker 3: went to Gentry Farms.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Nice.
- 50:05Speaker 3: We're three for three on Gentry Farms now. We make
- 50:08Speaker 3: sure we go every year as part of the spooktober tradition.
- 50:13Speaker 3: And they have a hayride. And before I went on,
- 50:17Speaker 3: I don't want to give myself too much credit, but
- 50:18Speaker 3: I did have a brilliant dad hack idea of instead
- 50:21Speaker 3: of Jill and I sitting next to each other on
- 50:24Speaker 3: the hayride, we sat opposite sides back to back. Because
- 50:30Speaker 3: there's cows on one side, but when you're coming back
- 50:33Speaker 3: the other way, now the cows are on the other side.
- 50:37Speaker 3: And all we had to do was once we got
- 50:39Speaker 3: to the turnaround point, mama gives Scarlett to me.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Now Scarlett's getting double dip on getting to see everything.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Gentry Farms, good hayride. Fantastic hayride. Yes. The little historic
- 50:51Speaker 1: home that you drive by. I mean, it's one of
- 50:54Speaker 1: my favorite. I look forward to it every year. I
- 50:57Speaker 1: truly love Gentry Farms. I have a Halloween dad hack.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Ooh, go.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Halloween dad hack. This is a good one. This is
- 51:04Speaker 1: from Shane Clore on Spotify. Dad hack with Halloween basically
- 51:08Speaker 1: upon us. Here is a good hack for all you
- 51:10Speaker 1: sickos so your kids don't overindulge on candy. The candy fairy.
- 51:16Speaker 1: At the end of the night, fill the trick-or-treating. Let
- 51:18Speaker 1: the kids pick out their favorite 10 or so pieces
- 51:20Speaker 1: of candy. Parentheses, scale with their age. The rest... Put
- 51:26Speaker 1: it into a bag and leave it by the back
- 51:28Speaker 1: door for the candy fairy to trade them a toy
- 51:31Speaker 1: for their candy. Your kids are super pumped for the toy,
- 51:34Speaker 1: and mom and dad get to enjoy the candy until
- 51:36Speaker 1: it's gone. Yo. That's a good dad hack.
- 51:39Speaker 3: That's a fantastic dad hack. That's fantastic. I have it equally.
- 51:46Speaker 3: I was just doing a little quick reading. This is
- 51:50Speaker 3: an unreal dad hack. It comes from Kanan Mullins, 5040
- 51:54Speaker 3: on YouTube. What up, PT Sickos? ST Sicko here. Got
- 52:00Speaker 3: a dad hack for the boys. My girlfriend is a
- 52:03Speaker 3: grad student studying to be a dietician, and she dropped
- 52:06Speaker 3: a dad hack I wanted to share. She said to
- 52:09Speaker 3: help prevent kids from just wanting dessert, put the dessert
- 52:14Speaker 3: on their dinner plate. Now the veggies are equal to
- 52:17Speaker 3: the cookies. The dessert no longer becomes a reward, but
- 52:21Speaker 3: rather just another element to the dinner. Even let them
- 52:25Speaker 3: eat the cookie first, but also encourage them to try
- 52:28Speaker 3: everything else on the plate. It's best to start this
- 52:31Speaker 3: approach as young as possible. Hope this helps someone, and
- 52:34Speaker 3: good luck. Keep crushing the show, boys. Tier one listening.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Love you, boys.
- 52:41Speaker 3: And I could see that working, but I also know
- 52:44Speaker 3: with some kids, that sounds like a kid-to-kid dad hack.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Like he said, you start them as early as possible.
- 52:52Speaker 1: I wouldn't have that evidence to know if that's something
- 52:54Speaker 1: that would work. Cause I, I don't trust, would not
- 52:58Speaker 1: trust Rue and Scotty right now.
- 52:59Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying, dude.
- 53:00Speaker 3: And working with like, I've only really worked with like
- 53:03Speaker 3: kids at the age of six at like little summer camps.
- 53:07Speaker 3: There were some kids where it's like, Hey, you're only
- 53:09Speaker 3: getting one cookie.
- 53:09Speaker 1: They're like, great.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I'll take my one cookie. I'll go sit under the
- 53:13Speaker 3: tree and eat it. And then there's the other kid
- 53:15Speaker 3: that's like, I want five cookie complete meltdown. It's just like,
- 53:19Speaker 3: it's kind of kid to kid, you know?
- 53:20Speaker 1: Cause if I start doing that with the boy, then it's,
- 53:23Speaker 1: where's my cookie with dinner? Yeah. If I'm doing the
- 53:27Speaker 1: whole youngest possible method. Yeah. Can I would have, I'm
- 53:30Speaker 1: too far down the path. And Scott Zilla. I mean, Oh,
- 53:35Speaker 1: you get one cookie. Are you kidding me?
- 53:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Cause she, her cookie is like just a piece, like
- 53:42Speaker 1: a little broken off piece of like, said cookie like
- 53:47Speaker 1: no chocolate chip in it you know what i mean
- 53:48Speaker 1: she gets like a crumb or something that's her cookie
- 53:51Speaker 1: that she gets fired up about after dinner.
- 53:53Speaker 3: But she's about to be like a dog eventually yeah
- 53:56Speaker 3: she's gonna start looking at the other food.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Bowl and going she's gonna start seeing the size of
- 53:59Speaker 1: ruse like broken off piece of cookie and be like
- 54:01Speaker 1: what the fuck are we doing she says it like
- 54:05Speaker 1: that too the fuck is that what the fuck are
- 54:08Speaker 1: we doing oh my god show kid show bleep um
- 54:13Speaker 1: Crack a cold one. Do we want to get into
- 54:15Speaker 1: our crack a cold one? Presented by Olipop, the caramel apple.
- 54:18Speaker 1: I hope you guys have gotten into the caramel apple
- 54:20Speaker 1: float of Olipop. My crack a cold one. The weekend.
- 54:26Speaker 1: So here's how Saturday went. We hit ballet. We came
- 54:29Speaker 1: home for a little reset, probably a 30 minute reset,
- 54:32Speaker 1: 40 minute reset. We met up with the Klumps. We
- 54:36Speaker 1: enjoyed some brunch at Cracker Barrel. I forgot about this. Yes.
- 54:40Speaker 1: To get ready for Clay Matthews. They had their championship
- 54:43Speaker 1: flag football game their first graders were playing.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Rival. Big game. We wanted to go and support Clay.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Bad blood.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Bad blood. Bad blood. Bad blood. Clay Matthews' first grade team.
- 54:56Speaker 1: We went on Saturday. The game started at 1. We
- 54:59Speaker 1: hit brunch around 1130. So Cracker Barrel, then we drove
- 55:02Speaker 1: to the game, set up, got the lawn chairs, got
- 55:04Speaker 1: the lawn chairs for the kiddos. Klump's wife, Lindsay, laid
- 55:07Speaker 1: out a blanket. Kids were having fun. Her and JJ,
- 55:10Speaker 1: Rue and JJ got along very well. They were doing
- 55:12Speaker 1: sticker books and then playing on the extra field, them
- 55:15Speaker 1: and Scotty. But got to watch some football, some flag football. God,
- 55:19Speaker 1: that's fun, dude. So Cracker Coal was getting out to
- 55:21Speaker 1: the flag football game. Got a little tiger blood snow
- 55:24Speaker 1: cone afterwards. Scotty, we're driving back home. I could tell
- 55:28Speaker 1: Scotty was tired because it's about game. The game finished
- 55:30Speaker 1: around 2 o'clock we're you know pitter pattering around after
- 55:35Speaker 1: the game so it's about 2.30 like we're beyond Scotty's
- 55:37Speaker 1: nap time which I knew was gonna be probably an
- 55:40Speaker 1: issue maybe not who cares like let's figure it out
- 55:43Speaker 1: I could tell she was tired she falls asleep on
- 55:45Speaker 1: the 9 minute drive home bro talk about a dub
- 55:49Speaker 1: right here she was asleep knocked out Rue goes in
- 55:52Speaker 1: we're being quiet I'm getting Scotty unbuckled out of the
- 55:56Speaker 1: car seat she stays asleep out of the car seat
- 55:58Speaker 1: plop her on my shoulder yes We go upstairs. She
- 56:02Speaker 1: has a poopy diaper. I got to change her diaper.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Stays asleep.
- 56:05Speaker 2: No.
- 56:06Speaker 1: Sleep knocked out.
- 56:07Speaker 8: No.
- 56:08Speaker 1: As I'm changing her poopy diaper, leg up in the air,
- 56:11Speaker 1: wipe him with two or three wipes. Yeah, yeah. She
- 56:14Speaker 1: stays asleep, knocked out the whole time.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Will he see?
- 56:17Speaker 1: Change her diaper. Put her in the sleep sack. Papa
- 56:20Speaker 1: and Lama for the dub.
- 56:22Speaker 3: Guys, that's the equivalent of going up to the plate
- 56:25Speaker 3: and just pointing to And then closing your eyes to
- 56:29Speaker 3: the first pitch and just knocking out of the park.
- 56:33Speaker 1: How nuts is that? I mean, that's a miracle. Boobie
- 56:34Speaker 1: diaper changing and she's asleep. That's a miracle. Yeah. Got to.
- 56:39Speaker 1: And then after that, Rue went to watch some Stillwater.
- 56:41Speaker 1: I get a workout in the garage. Rue comes out
- 56:43Speaker 1: that I want to work out with you.
- 56:44Speaker 5: All right.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Get her on the slant board to work on a squat.
- 56:49Speaker 1: And you know kids, like four-year-olds, she's like going down
- 56:51Speaker 1: but kind of bending at the low back to go down. No, no, no, no. Sweetheart.
- 56:55Speaker 1: Gotta keep the back straight. Gotta keep the chest up.
- 56:57Speaker 5: Yep.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Or ass to grass. Yep. And work on your form.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I show her how to do one properly. No, no,
- 57:04Speaker 1: right here as you're, as you're butt winking, you're butt
- 57:07Speaker 1: winking to go out. You can't have that. Your below
- 57:10Speaker 1: back's bending right here. You're bending at the waist more
- 57:12Speaker 1: than your knees.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 57:13Speaker 1: You're on a slant board. This is going to be
- 57:15Speaker 1: as easy as ever.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 57:17Speaker 1: You go down. We're going to keep your chest up.
- 57:19Speaker 1: As you're down here, I want your chest up, chest up.
- 57:21Speaker 1: And work right here to go straight up. So you
- 57:24Speaker 1: go straight up. That's one. We got 10 of those.
- 57:27Speaker 5: Ooh.
- 57:28Speaker 1: She was like, I'm not trying to. Can we draw?
- 57:31Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:32Speaker 1: I think I'm going to go watch Stillwater again. All right.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Whenever you're ready to show up. You let me know.
- 57:37Speaker 1: You're dropping little crumbs here and there. Yeah. You're just
- 57:40Speaker 1: slowly introducing her. She always wants to hang and do
- 57:41Speaker 1: the pull-up bar. She's all about the pull-up bar.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 57:44Speaker 1: But she can do the pull-up bar.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 57:46Speaker 1: She can hang. I can get her going a little bit.
- 57:48Speaker 1: She can pull herself up. Shout out Dan Gable. Come on.
- 57:52Speaker 1: But she can do that. I can get her going
- 57:53Speaker 1: on the row machine. She can pull it back. And
- 57:56Speaker 1: I'm like, you're elbowing somebody behind you. You don't want
- 57:59Speaker 1: to just sit there and pull the whole time. You
- 58:01Speaker 1: want to stand, and you want to elbow. Like you're
- 58:03Speaker 1: elbowing somebody behind you. You want to get them elbows back.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Keep it tight. She can get that going. Now we
- 58:09Speaker 1: got to work on her form with squatting. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:13Speaker 3: We need to be engaging the right muscles here. If
- 58:15Speaker 3: we're not using the correct form, Rue, we're not engaging
- 58:19Speaker 3: the right muscles.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:20Speaker 3: So we're kind of wasting not only your time, but
- 58:23Speaker 3: are we wasting Dada's time too?
- 58:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Dada is.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Now two minutes over the rest period. Dada's got to
- 58:29Speaker 1: get going.
- 58:31Speaker 3: So here's some crowns and a color book until you're
- 58:33Speaker 3: ready to come through the right form.
- 58:36Speaker 1: Go do your sticker book, man. Dude, I blanked so hard. Oh,
- 58:43Speaker 1: the game. How did the game go? They won. Championship.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Was it close?
- 58:48Speaker 1: They beat him like two scores. Two scores to nothing.
- 58:52Speaker 2: How was Clay doing?
- 58:54Speaker 1: He was doing good. I'd yell out, hey, good series, coach.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Good series. He'd throw his hand up. How was Oppo
- 59:00Speaker 1: coach doing? You could tell that they wanted that win, bro.
- 59:04Speaker 1: They went scoreless. Like, Klay, that defense shut them out. No.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Shut them out, bro. I want to say it might
- 59:09Speaker 1: have been 12. nothing oh man i wanted clay to
- 59:13Speaker 1: go and run up the score on them they had
- 59:15Speaker 1: they had about a minute left clay had the ball
- 59:17Speaker 1: they're in the red zone like they could have scored
- 59:21Speaker 1: and they're you know talking about hey let's just your
- 59:23Speaker 1: game's over blah blah blah yeah hey score go score
- 59:27Speaker 1: You're yelling that? This team talked about you, man.
- 59:30Speaker 2: You yelled that?
- 59:31Speaker 1: They bragged about their championship on you last year because
- 59:33Speaker 1: that was the team that beat them last year in
- 59:35Speaker 1: the championship. Is Klay out there with the playbook? Shut up, man.
- 59:41Speaker 1: I pulled out my phone. Let me see here. Here's
- 59:44Speaker 1: what I was playing. Because the crowd just wasn't into it. Yeah. Like,
- 59:48Speaker 1: we need, hey, we're on defense. We need some noise.
- 59:51Speaker 1: This is first grade flag football, guys. First grade flag football.
- 59:55Speaker 1: And so I started going... Let me see here. Oh,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: you're juicing the crowd. I started pumping crowd noise.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: On the sideline. I'm holding it up. Team's got a big,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: you know, if the Oppo's got a big fourth, they
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: have five down. So fourth and fifth down, I'm raising
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: the crowd noise.
- 1:00:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: God, we got to get a Bluetooth speaker out there too.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Clay takes it serious. He's got one of them sky cams.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: It's on like a massive like.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: Oh, the film thing? Yeah.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Do what?
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Yeah, for film?
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Yeah, for film. He's recording the whole thing. Like, the camera's, like,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: way up in the air. Oh, my God.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: I love that. First grade flag football. First grade flag football.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: That is insane.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: They sent me a clip after the game showing, like, hey,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: this is support right here. I'm, like, standing on the sideline.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Everybody's sitting. I'm standing. I see a good run, and
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I'm out there clapping.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: We got to get Clay on to just prep you
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: for boy-dad flag football coaching.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Yeah, we need a Clay Matthews episode.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: We need a Clay Matthews episode. God, that sounds phenomenal.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: What was your crack a cold one? Crack a cold one,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: really fun weekend. So we had our best couple friends
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: from back home, Brian, who was my best man at
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: my wedding, and his wife, Hillary. We hosted our friend
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: group that we've had for 10 plus years now, which
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: is Daniel and Broughton are the other couple, and then
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Tate and his wife, Cannon. Cannon, congratulations to her, she's
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: in her third trimester with their first. So she could
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: not fly in. So just Uncle Tate came. But we
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: had all the couples and the kiddos. So the Namans
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: have two boys, Harrison Briggs, two and some change-year-old and
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: a maybe seven-month-old. And then Brian and Hillary have Lucy.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: She's rocking, I think, like five months.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Or no, she's my birthday twin. So May, June, July, August, September, October.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Five months. Okay.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: I was on there. And dude, it was so much fun.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: We had a whole itinerary. We did a little bit
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: of tennis with just the dads. We went to Gentry
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Farm with all the kids. That was our first interaction
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: of Scarlett really playing with a friend's kid. And Harris
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: was older. He's doing some change. he did a phenomenal
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: job playing with Scarlet. He was really kind of trying
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: his best to share with Scarlet, to let Scarlet interact
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: as well. Scarlet's at that mode where she really can
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: walk and interact. They have the little mini putt-putt. She's
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: trying her best, but you can tell Harris is kind
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: of sitting there going like, hey, Scarlet, if you're going
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: to roll with me, we got to go. We got
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: to go to the next hole. You got to kind
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: of figure this out. And then Scarlett just kind of
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: figured out that we would say yay when the ball
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: went in the hole. So she would just go to
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: the next hole and drop the golf ball into the
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: hole and turn and go, yay.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: It's the easiest game in the world.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Harris is in there like, you're ruining everything. But he
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: put up with it. And then we did a bonus
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: dad hack. We did a group babysitter for all the
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: couples to then go to dinner. So we got two
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: babysitters with four kiddos. All those kids I listed plus Scarlett.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Ryan Tamales would hate that. Hate it. He'd hate that.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Hate it.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: And we went to some Japanese place, I forget the name,
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: in Wedgwood, Houston.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: It was phenomenal.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Yeah, very good. PT Sickos. What are we bringing you
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: this time? We are bringing you Lucy. It's our favorite pouches.

- 1:05:37Speaker 1: the credit for a shockingly delicious dinner the whole family
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: will love. I'm telling you, Kevin's is the move. They
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: got flavors like Thai-style coconut chicken, Korean barbecue-style chicken, and
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: teriyaki beef. The Hawaiian-style chicken is always a hit in
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: our house. No matter what flavor you choose... Kevin's Natural

- 1:06:00Speaker 1: on Kevin's. Stock up on their entrees in the refrigerator
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: aisle at your local grocery store. Back to this episode.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I said it wasn't a deke wreck. It was not
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: a deke wreck. It was not a deke wreck. But
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: I would put it on the wreck list for people
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: to go check it out. They have the little cooking
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: rocks with the Wagyu.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: Is it Maru Weho? Is it Present Tense? Is it Momotaro?
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Is it Sushi Row?
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Maru Weho sounds correct.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: He don't know.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: I don't know. Look at him. He's in there looking
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: at you.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: Mauro Weo.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Was it Sushi Son? They got the Hot Rocks, the
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Mauro Weo. I'll ask Joe. Oh, it's Mauro Weo. One
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: of them sound right.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: To this guy's point, to this guy's point, Google Mauro Weo.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: That ain't it.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: That ain't it. Not even close. That's a look on
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: his face. He don't know, man. This guy don't know.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: One of them sound right. Yeah, Deke does it.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: I'm going to guess present tense.
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: That's my guess. Okay, that's our guess.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: Well, we just learned that his guess is truly as
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: good as mine. So we go to this place. We
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: have a phenomenal dinner. Coming back home to the two babysitters,
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: Alexis and Fahima were our babysitters. They had all the
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: kids on the sofa together with jammies on, dude. Come
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: in home to that. And the other, the little five-month-old
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: and the seven-month-old, I mean, they're in donuts. They're just
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: on the couch. But seeing Harris and Scarlett in their
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: jammies and they're kind of sitting next to each other
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: on the couch while they're reading to them. And we
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: come in and both of them, their heads pop up
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: over the sofa to see all the parents coming in.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: They're like, you know, start running towards the door and
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: Scarlett's just in her jammies, no socks on just, Ooh,
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: it was so fun, dude. And like to do it
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: and to know that it can be done and to
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: like open that up for future. Cause we used to
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: all do trips together as couples. And since, uh, Daniel
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: and Broughton had Harris, that's really slowed down. But now
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: we're at a spot where our kids are getting to
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: an age and we as parents are getting to a
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: spot where we're like, hey, we can do this now
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: as parents. Like we can do this like whole trip
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: thing together. So it was, dude, really fun weekend.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: That's the good stuff right there. Oh, yeah.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: I'm trying to think what else. There was one other
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: thing from that. Oh, a dad loss that turned into
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: a win. Jill grabbed the wrong diaper. bag and we
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: had one diaper for scarlet on that babysitter night and
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: we're like well let's let's just hope.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: For not a blowout.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Blowout But parents know you got to switch and you
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: got to kind of figure it out. And so we're
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: borrowing diaper. We're borrowing outfit from their seven-month-old is so
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: big that it fit on Tiny Scarlet's 15-month-old body. which
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: blew my mind. That's how small Scarlett is in this
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: little boy onesie. But dude, it was a blast. It
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: was the good stuff. It was a really great weekend.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: We had a fun time.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: Let's go, man.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: We had a fun time. Should we dive into voicemails? Yes,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: I would love to. Shout out to Olipop.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Shout out Olipop and shout out Gravely. Our dad call-ins
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: are presented by Gravely. Let's jump into our first one.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: I heard that we have some heavy hitters this week.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: That's the rumor.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: If you want to call in, it's 601 The Dads.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: That is our voicemail line, 601 The Dads. Here's our
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: first voicemail.
- 1:10:00Speaker 6: Hey, Ray. Hey, Sam. It's me, Alamo. Okay.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Quinn from Zurich.
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: Just wanted to wish all of PT6 a happy Halloween.
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: My 22-month-old daughter will be Abby Cadabby, and my seven-month-pregnant
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: wife will be Cookie Monster. PT Sesame Street is going
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: to be getting after it this Halloween. Here's our guys.
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: That's all for now.
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: Bye-bye.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Will, you look like you really went through something there.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: What's going through your brain, Will?
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: What happened?
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: The hell was that? Will's the dad that if you
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: did a big group Christmas, and Chef, we hire Chef
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: as the Santa for all the kids, and Chef comes
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: in and does either way too over the top on
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Santa or not enough. Will's in the corner going, Chef,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: what the fuck is that? Greg from Missouri.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Welcome.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Chef, you say ho, ho, ho, and you ask what
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: they want for Christmas. Just put them on your lap, man.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: You don't have to bring the reindeer. I don't need
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: a sleigh. Just come in, dude. Give them the toys. Hey, chef,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: do your witch voice.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: I don't want to do the witch voice.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Do your witch voice. Do the witch voice.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: Honestly, now I'm thinking. Oh, fuck, dude. I can't do it.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Chef, if you were to.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: You can't put me on the spot or else then
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: I clam up.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Do the witch voice.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: Give me a sentence to say.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I'm going to put a spell on you.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: Fuck, dude. I'm getting so nervous. I can't do it. Oh, no!
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Do the witch voice. Come on, you're reading the story
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: to Rue right now. Do the witch voice.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Guys, I can't do it. I legitimately can't. I can't
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: even think of the voice right now. It's a great
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: witch voice.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: What if Will and myself do a witch voice really
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: quick to kind of, you know, ease them into it.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: We'll let Chef do the witch voice. Okay.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Will should do his puppy voice from last year.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: Hey, the puppy voice was fantastic.
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: That's a good puppy voice.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Also, Chef, if you were to be hired, let's say
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: the Comptons did host a Christmas extravaganza at their house,
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: and you were to be hired, as the Santa Claus
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: for said event. Could we get a rendition of how
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: that might look?
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: A Santa.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd have to dial in the voice, but it
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: might be like a.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Ho, ho, ho, ho!
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: Merry Christmas!
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I like it!
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: I like it! See, I can get behind that.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: I just like... He literally did exactly what I thought
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: he'd do in the corner!
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Little Willy, what would you like for Christmas? You've been
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: a good boy. A spaceship. Oh, a spaceship, you say?
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Would you like, like, the Millennium Falcon? That's a good question, Santa.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Oh, Santa, Santa, are reindeer real?
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: Sherman, of course they're real.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Where are yours?
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: They're sleeping. Santa has to go on a trip across
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: the world to give toys to all the boys and girls.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: They need their rest. Hey, hey. That's pretty good. Why
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: do mommy and daddy sleep in separate beds?
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Oh, Derek.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Oh, Dick. My mommy and daddy to live with each other.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Oh, no, Derek.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: They're probably tax purposes.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: Oh, they're just... They want you to have two Christmases.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Oh, no. Oh, no. Hey, that was the curveball of
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: all curveballs, and you crushed it.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Thank you, guys.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: That was awesome. On to our second. So we love
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: the Elmo call-in. On to our second caller. What the
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: hell was that?
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: What's up, guys? This is Earl, first-time caller. But just
- 1:14:24Speaker 7: wanted to share my story. Lately, we went to a
- 1:14:30Speaker 7: Sharks game.
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: San Jose Sharks.
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: Kids' first hockey game. I got a six-year-old boy.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: And he loved it.
- 1:14:38Speaker 7: And we've been playing hockey for a year now. He's
- 1:14:42Speaker 7: kind of into it, kind of not. But ever since
- 1:14:44Speaker 7: that game, when I get home from work, We play
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: mini sticks every single day. He goes to my room.
- 1:14:54Speaker 7: He picks out a jersey for me. He grabs one
- 1:14:57Speaker 7: of his jerseys. It's gotten to the point now where
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: I take the karaoke machine. I'll put some music on.
- 1:15:05Speaker 7: I announce him. He runs into the garage. Gets all
- 1:15:09Speaker 7: pumped up. We play two games every night. And it's
- 1:15:13Speaker 7: been awesome. So... It kind of makes me realize, makes
- 1:15:18Speaker 7: everyone realize, got to just make it fun for him.
- 1:15:22Speaker 7: Maybe practice isn't fun. I know it's not fun, but
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: making something fun for him, he's gotten even better at
- 1:15:30Speaker 7: stick handling. He's shooting backhand now. So just another win
- 1:15:35Speaker 7: for the dads, okay? Many sticks every night. Let's go, boys.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: That's the good stuff, man. That's one of my favorite
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: dad wins that we've had in quite a while. Shout
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: out Earl. What a name.
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: The image of, and just knowing how excited that kid
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: is when dad gets home, how he is counting down
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: the seconds for his dad to pull into the driveway
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: so he can go pick out the jersey and play
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: mini stick.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: And just the warmth that he probably feels in his
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: heart knowing he's coming home and his boy's excited. Like, oh,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: I'm going to announce his name. I sent a really
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: good video to you, Deke.
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: There's a video that we'll probably put out on socials
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: later this week of a dad that's announcing his daughter
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: coming down the stairs.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: Have you seen it? Is it the Chicago Bulls song? No,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: we posted that one, though. Okay, yeah, that's another banger.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: That's a banger.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: This dad's, you know, doing the, you know, standing at
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: three foot, blah, blah, blah. And while he's mid-announcing her,
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: the daughter just goes... no, dad, dad, sing Barbie girl.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: And so he just starts a beat on the wall and.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Goes, I'm a Barbie girl in a Barbie world. And
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: she just starts coming down the stairs, like strutting like that, dude.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: It's phenomenal. Phenomenal. Um, Ooh, son's first bully. Do we
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: want to, okay, here we go. What's up, dude?
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: Hello, dad. Uh, Dad of four boys, ages six, four, three,
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: and about to be seven months. Oh, wow. Been at
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: it for a minute, but still getting the hang of
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: things like we all are.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Boys, I got a dilemma.
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: My four-year-old is in preschool playing flag football, the sweetest
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: kid ever. Like, such a good kid, bubbly, a light
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: to everybody that he sees. And we are dealing with
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: our first bully. So much to where, like, the teachers
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: at the preschool texted my wife about the incident that happened.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: And my son's been nothing but nice to the kid.
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: And I coach his football team. The kid, the said bully,
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: is on the football team. They actually go up against
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: each other one-on-one a lot. Luckily, at first the bully
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: gets the better of him, but over the season my
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: son's improved and puts his ass down now.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I'm loving it.
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: But nonetheless, we're still dealing with a bully problem. So
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: advice here, like I want to go to the dad,
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: but I feel like the dad is just going to
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: brush it off and be like, Boys are boys.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: No, like, your kid's an asshole. We need to address this.
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: Because the mom, my wife talked to the mom, and
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: the mom turned it around saying that I'm too... hard
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: on her son at practice look around lady I'm hard
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: on all the kids at practice that's why we're undefeated
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: getting ready to win.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: A championship golly.
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: But I'm no harder on your kids than anybody else
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: I'm damn sure I'm not bullying a four year old
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: as a 34 year old man um But boys, any advice,
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: any tips you got?
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Okay. Right now. Right now. It's okay. Yeah, we got
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: the gist. Man, I don't know. I don't know either. Like,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I think about that. It's like, my Rue's such a sweetheart.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: Anytime I sense that a kid could be being mean
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: to her or anything else, like, my heart just breaks
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: because you hate to watch it go down.
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: Knowing, like, you know your kid. You know how, like,
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: sweet they are and everything else. And you feel just bad.
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: You know, it's like this natural cycle that takes place. Yeah.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: I don't know until I will be in that situation.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like, I don't even know
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: what my game plan would be. I know this. If
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: moms talked, you already know that mom's pillow talking at
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: home with dad. I was, dude, thank you. Dad's aware.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: Dad's aware.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Dad knows. Now, what you do have is progress as
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: far as winning in the A-gap. You know what I mean? Like,
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: you do like to see that. I guess I would ask,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: is his son aware that he's getting bullied? Yeah, he
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: didn't even bring that part up. I don't know, man.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: I wish, like, I don't have the boy yet. I
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: don't have the circumstance with my daughter yet. We are only—
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I don't know what it looks like, the bullying. I
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: don't know what the phone call was, like what happened
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: at school. Yeah.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: What I would say is I was bullied super bad
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: from first to third grade to where I actually moved
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: schools to a big public school, Aledo. And that really
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: fixed the problem. But I think if I were to
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: give my parents advice of my situation looking back on
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: it now, I think we can only control what we
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: can control. We can't go into somebody else's house and
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: teach them how to parent their kid. We can only
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: control how our kid reacts to said bullying. If our
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: kid's melting down, going into tears, blah, blah, blah, he
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: is feeding the bullying. We need to build our kid
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: up to be resistant of the bullying and so that
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: he knows how to deal with it. Cause it's going
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: to happen in the future. I mean, that's just, that's
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: a part of life.
- 1:21:33Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: And no part of us is going to be able
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: to change that kid's outlook. I think, um, I mean,
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: there's like ways that you can get your kids out
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: of situations to where they're not being bullied. Uh, moving
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: schools ended up being like the best thing ever for me.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: Cause it gave me a fresh start, but it also
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: a brand new playbook going into that school of like,
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Don't do these things because that will cause more bullying.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Does that make sense? I don't think he needs to
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: change schools. That's very dramatic.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: And it was a kind of a dramatic like bullying situation.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: He's probably thinking how you have those conversations with your
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: four year old.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: That's what I would.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: It's like my instinct is talking to my son about, hey,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: here's how you're going to handle bullying. And what I'm
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: thinking in my brain, there's two options. It's like there's
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: a conversation that I would almost want to have that
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: doesn't include mom hearing me what I'm about to tell you.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: And then also when it's like, I know I can't
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: do this with mom out of the conversation. To where
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: I want to teach him to, whether it's fight back
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: or something, but he's four so he doesn't know that
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: yeah something could be playful and hey this is what
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: dad told me to do if this happens yeah dude
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: and then i'm the one feeding him hey if this
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: happens here's how you gotta here's how you gotta go
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: up against the.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: Bully yes what's the uh movie where he gives a
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: american sniper in the beginning where chris kyle they're like
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: the sheep the shepherd and the sheep dog or whatever
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: it is and he tells the sons like be the
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: sheep dog like you don't attack but if someone comes
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: at you you it was a kind of probably not
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: that mean, but my mind immediately goes.
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: Right, right, right. But now then you're leaning into that
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: aspect of you put your hands on them. Yeah. But
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: then I'm saying that it's like, I'm.
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: Just saying we're all agreeing with Ryan Tamales right now.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: I just want to say we're all kind of agreeing
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: with Ryan Tamales at the top of the show.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: This is true right over over this is true i'm
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: just saying well we're getting close full circle i know
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: i'm not trying to say you go and put your
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: hands on him but it's almost like buddy you're going
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: to feel because i don't know if the kid knows
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: he's getting bullied but if he knows and there's fear
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: like i'm not going to be there next to you
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: you're going to have fear yeah yeah like being brave
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: is is being scared and doing it anyway like if
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: you're going to stand up and he's going to stop
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: bullying you in that moment of fear of reacting, if
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: you fully know that you're getting bullied in that moment
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: of fear, you're just, it's going to be you and
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: yourself being like, I got to stand up to this dude. Yeah.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Like you got to do something. And that's, that's, that's
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: going into the, the, the physical nature. My, if I'm
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: just speaking for myself.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: As far as like being a, Will, I think you're
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: on the exact right track. And that's exactly what I
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: was talking about, like building your kid up. Like we
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: can only control that. I think that that's what I
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: would tell my parents of like, I wish there had
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: been more conversations like the one you're saying to me
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: of like giving me a tool belt and allowing me
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: to know the difference between a sheepdog and a wolf.
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: And not becoming the bully yourself.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Right. Being able to be smart.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: We respect everybody. We respect everybody. But if somebody is
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: being disrespectful to you and has gotten to that level,
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: this is how we handle that. Those are good conversations
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: to have.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I'm not
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: sitting here wincing and going like, oh, dude, we're on
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: a dad podcast.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: Don't say that. I'm in agreement.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: Was there a conversation probably, gosh, eight months ago, you
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: talked about Rue at the park. There was a boy
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: that was picking on her. And we joked about turning
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: the headlights on, meeting that dad in the A-gap. Did
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: you have a conversation with Rue at all around there
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: about what bullying looks like? Because I'm curious about how
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: the conversation of like, this is what bullying, you're introducing
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: a thing that's brand new, but they understand.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Right. It's more like I feel it's in a way
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: of like introducing the concept of bullying. And hey, if
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: somebody is making you uncomfortable, you let them know that
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: they're making you uncomfortable.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: And then if they continue to do it, the spot
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: that you're in, if there's a grown up around or
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: a teacher around, you go to that teacher and let
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: them know this dude, whoever, whatever's going on is doing
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: something that you're not liking. Yeah. Now, if this kid's
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: in these bullies, bullying situations to where there's not necessarily
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: people around all the time or you're in some controlled environment,
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: like you got to let You got to let the
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: young man know, hey, you're doing something that you're not liking.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: That's making you uncomfortable. If it continues to go down
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: that route, we'll then talk about how you need to
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: handle it. Because you're letting people know what your boundaries are. Hey,
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: you keep picking on me. You're about to find out.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: And you might go and get your ass whooped. But
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: you're going to be somebody who continues to go back
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: in the fight. Because I promise you, they're not going
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: to want to mess with you all the time. You
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: If you're giving the licks back, that's not fun. if
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: you're crumbling down and crying.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: And he knows he's got the power dynamic over you.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: So he's treating you how he wants to treat you.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: Cause you're allowing him to, if you let him know
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: the shit ain't going to continue to happen. And again,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: they're four. So having that Rolodex of conversation, that's where
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: it's like, Hey, I don't like what's happening. You need
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: to stop doing it. If they keep doing it and
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: there's a parent around and there's a teacher around, you
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: got to go let them know, hey, they're doing something
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: that I'm not liking right now.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: But those foundation stones at four does lead to when
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: it's nine years old and then it's really.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: Becoming an issue. And then it becomes in my instinctual
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: brain of just the dynamics of fucking nature. There's going
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: to be a time where, hey, you can't go to
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: the teacher all the time.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: You're going to have to let him know that he's
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: crossing the line and he's got to stop crossing the line. Yeah.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: And we got to figure out how you're going to
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: handle it if he continues to cross the line. Yeah.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Because you can't run and do the tattle thing. There's
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: a social dynamic that starts to enter the equation.
- 1:27:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: And I could be spouting some stuff off to where
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: it's like making people feel like, oh, I don't know
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: if you should, you know. I haven't like talked through
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: all this stuff with my wife. You're cooking in my book.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: You're cooking in my book. But there's going to be
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: a time and place where you're going to have to
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: handle it in a different manner. Not like a sneak
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: manner or anything else, but you're going to have to
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: get in Buddy's face and you're going to have to
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: face your fear of standing up to this bully. And
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: he might get you, but you're going to keep doing
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: it over and over and over because it'll callous you.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: It will. And it will, like you said, that muscle
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: of bravery.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: And I jokingly sent that quote from Ned Stark about
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: that's the only time you can be brave is when
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: you're afraid. But it is such a great quote because
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: it is a, with fight or flight instinct, like, Those
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: two things, if you're too far on either one of them,
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: can be very bad. We got to find that middle
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: ground of having enough fight and enough bravery when we're
- 1:28:27Speaker 3: in a fearful situation to stand up for ourselves so
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: that then that respect is gained through, hey, they that
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: guy's not gonna just like lay down and take it
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: like he's gonna get up there.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: That's such a big thing with boys too i don't
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: know how it goes for girls but growing up it's
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: like hey if someone's giving you shit especially when you
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: get older i don't know like four four makes it
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: tough i i don't even know what i don't even
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: know what you say.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: I'm feeling uncomfortable or i'm feeling like something's happening that
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: we don't want to happen right now And you introduced
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: the dynamic of, like, you have to, like, let somebody know. Yeah. Like,
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: I was giving them the toolbox there, but as they
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: get older.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: It's... Yeah, it's the opposite, where it's like, you got
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: to go... You know, if it gets bad, bad, then
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: you got to talk to someone. But if not, you
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: got to go handle it. And you said the right thing. Like,
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: if someone knows, even if they kick your ass, they
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: know that, hey, you're going to still show up. People
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: respect that. Like, I feel like at the end of
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: the day, like, even if they kick your ass, they're like,
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: oh shit, this guy's going to fight me every time.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: Not saying he's going to, you know, every time I
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: say something to him, I know he's going to say
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: something back or something's going to altercate and then they
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: will leave you alone. That is like the quickest way
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: to nip it in the bud. Yeah.
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: It's also, I guess the one thing that I could
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: really stand on and like stick a flagpole in as
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: a co-host on a dad podcast. So I would say
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: seven times out of 10, talking to the parents is
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: maybe the worst thing you could do and will not
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: solve it. Because you are ultimately just telling them, hey,
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: your kid's the problem. Insofacto, you're the problem. We're not
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: the problem. You know what I mean?
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: Yeah. It obviously depends on the situation because if that
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: conversation between the moms is collaborative.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: It's one thing. But once you get the sense of, oh, okay,
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: your husband's kind of coaching my boy a little hard.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: And then you know the pillow talking is going on
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: on both ends. Yeah. That's where it's, but if it's
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: collaborative and everybody's kind of aware, it's like if Rue
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: was bullying somebody and a parent came up to me,
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: it's almost like I would, my mom was always with
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: this thing. So you saw Coach Eck, New Mexico State,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: hearing the referees talk and then he goes right after
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: the kid. My mom was always somebody who sided with
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: the teachers or the teacher's word over mine because it's like, okay,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: if this is what's happening. Good mom. Yeah. You know
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: what I mean? To where I knew if my kid
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: was being the bully. and I could get on board
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: with whatever's being said to me, I would very much
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: be addressing Rue on how to handle the situation.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Versus like, oh, you guys are kind of being mean
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: or blah, blah, blah. It's like fully getting into the
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: shoes of, Rue's got a couple tendencies at home to
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: where I'm not surprised I'm hearing this right now. Yeah.
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: Like, I've seen that before in my daughter. Yeah.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: And like, I'll hear you out on this. And yeah, absolutely. Like,
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: if Scottie was that way when she gets older, because
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: she's a little Scottzilla right now. It's like, I hear you.
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: Trust me, we'll get it handled. We'll nip that.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, we'll nip that.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: And it's a, I mean, that was even something when
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: Scarlett got bit at the daycare. That was my very
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: first question to the daycare is what was Scarlett doing?
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: Because I want to make sure, because I know Scarlett's
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: swatting a bit at home. Is she up in people's
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: faces swatting? I know we're talking about 15 month olds.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Yeah. But my brain's already on that. You got to
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: let her ass know at home. The hell you doing, man?
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: Here's why you got bit.
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: Here's why.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: And guess what? You're bit for the rest of your life. Yeah.
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: Good calling. Good conversation. Good conversation. As boys, we know
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: the game. We know the game as we get older. Yeah.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: The telling all the teacher and authority figure, you get
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: in trouble. It's like, oh, shit, I'm in trouble. Let
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: me stop that. As you get older, because, oh, you're
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: going to the teacher now. You need your teacher to
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: fight your battles or you need your parents to fight
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: your battles. That's how the dynamic shifts to where something else,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: a different course of action has to be taken.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Make some good friends, too.
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: Tell that kid, make some tough friends.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: Make some tough friends.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, that's, dude, that's... That was my best feature,
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: was I made friends with big guys. Yeah. Like, we
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: wrestled at a young age, so I was just never
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: really in that pocket. Like, I was always a pretty solid, like,
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: kid and friend and shit like that, to where I
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: didn't necessarily bully. But it's like, I would have an
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: insecurity of, like, feeling like if I'm getting bullied, but
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: I could also handle myself in situations because nobody wanted
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: to wrestle the wrestlers.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: You know, like me and Cody were 18 months apart.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: Like we were one year apart. Like it was, you
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: were getting a tag team. Yeah. You know what I mean?
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: If somebody's like picking on either one of us. Don't
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: mess with the Comptons. Cody was like, he got six
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: in the nation at six years old. Yeah. Imagine bullying. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: You ain't getting away with bullying Cody. Come here.
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: Let me show you something.
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: So that was this week's Dad Call-Ins presented by Gravely.
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: Click the link in the description below of this episode
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: to find Gravely Mower. I know I'll be finding my
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: Gravely Mower, Will Compton.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: And a black bulb just went off in my head.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: Ding, ding, ding.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: Hit the gong. Well, this can be a gong hit,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: but go get your hands on some Dan Gable VHS
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: and show them to your boy. Let's start getting some
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: wrestling into your life. Absolutely.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: Um, Gosh, I mean, that episode kind of flew by.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: Fun up. Fun sewed. We have emails and then we
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: have lesson of the week. And it sounds like I
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: have a very fun email. This one came in from
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: an empty sicko. That's our mama team six. This is
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: Alex Diamond.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: Alex wrote in and said.
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: Hey, for the dad's crew, I'm a new listener to
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: the pod, courtesy of my husband, Trevor, who is an
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: avid PT Sixer. In fact, I now consider myself a
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: proud member of Milk Team Six community.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: So we have an empty sicko here.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: I fully embrace the lifestyle, which apparently now includes purchasing
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: podcast merch for my husband's birthday and repurposing it as
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: infant development equipment. A little context. We have two boys
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: who are 51 weeks apart. Yes, 51 weeks. That is
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: what they call Irish twins, everyone.
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: Goodness.
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: They're currently 15 months old and three months old, which
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: means our house is basically a live action episode of Survivor,
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: the infant and toddler years. We also have three-year-old golden
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: doodle named Rosie, who is somehow both another child and
- 1:34:52Speaker 3: the only member of this household who gets enough sleep. Anyways,
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: the other night we were in the trenches of the
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: unpredictable 5 to 8 p.m.
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: Shift.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: You know the one. Everyone is tired. Everyone needs something.
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: And somehow it takes two adults, approximately 47 pieces of
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: baby equipment, and a small miracle just to get through bedtime.
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: We were doing tummy time with our three-month-old when we
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: realized we needed a high-contrast object to keep him entertained. Naturally,
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: like any well-prepared household, we reached for the For the
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: Dads hat that was previously part of my husband's post-workout
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: ensemble for the 5 to 8 p.m.
- 1:35:32Speaker 7: Shift.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: And honestly, it worked.
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: The hat went from a birthday gift to infant enrichment
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: equipment in approximately three seconds. Our youngest was locked in.
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: Our oldest was doing toddler things in the background. Rosie
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: was present for the chaos. My husband was laughing, and
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: I was standing there thinking, I cannot believe I spent
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: money on this hat, and it's now contributing more to
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: our childcare operations than most of the toys we own.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: I've attached the photographic evidence of the operation, including our
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: baby studying the hat like it's going to explain why
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: he has to do tummy time. and the wider family scene,
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: which I believe accurately captures the current state of our household.
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: So boys, I have two questions. Does this officially qualify
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: our family for some kind of For the Dad sponsorship?
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: We can discuss.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll look into it. We'll look into it.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: Can I write the hat off as a childcare expense
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: now that it's a developmental tool? Asking as a proud
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: Milk Team 6 member and the person who funded the operation.
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: We will also look into that.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: We will look into both of those things.
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: We can talk to our CFO, who is former CPA.
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: He could give us some insight on that.
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Yeah, he could give us some insight. Maybe we get
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: him one of these. Ooh, we could get him one
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: of those. That action ribbon. I mean, two under 15 months. Oh, buddy.
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: You got some Irish twins, man. D's and P's.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: We need to get a little mom action ribbon.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: Yeah. That'd be a fun one. That's the one in
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: the real battle.
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: That'd be a fun one.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: Mom's in the real battle.
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: My husband would absolutely lose his mind if you gave
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: him a shout out. I would, of course, take full
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: credit for making this happen since I'm the one submitting
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: the email and the one who bought the hat in
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: the first place. Keep up the great work. I'm a
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: newer listener, but I'm beginning to understand why my husband
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: is such a big fan. And on a more serious note,
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: congrats to the boy parents-to-be, Will and Charo. Boy parenting
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: is no joke. but we wouldn't trade it for the world. Additionally,
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: thank you for using your platform to discuss infertility issues.
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: What we have learned through our own struggles is that
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: infertility is way more common than you would expect, and
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: you truly don't know until you're in it. Sincerely, a
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: proud Milk Team 6 member. wife of an avid PT Sixer,
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: mother of Irish twins, and the woman who accidentally turned
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: her husband's birthday present into a piece of essential baby.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: Equipment, P.S.
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: Rosie would also like to be considered for the sponsorship.
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: She has been providing unpaid emotional support throughout, that's their
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: golden doodle, throughout the entire operation and believes she deserves compensation.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: She's also wondering if we are bringing another skin puppy
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: home in July 27th. like the last two Julys. But
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: of course, hoping we wait a little longer than 12
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: months for skin puppy number three, best the diamonds, Alex, mom, Trevor,
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: shout out Trevor, so he gets his shout out, Barrett,
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: 15 months, Sawyer, three months, and Rosie, three-year-old pup. And
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: that is a true Milk Team 6 write-in. It felt
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: very Christmas card with the breakdown of All the names
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: and ages.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: She was kind of running her own soda right there
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: and there. That was very well done. Very well done.
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: Alex Diamond, everyone.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: Shout out to Diamond family. Look at them.
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: I love that.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: I love the backwards. Yeah, the backwards.
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: That's probably one of my favorite hats. Golly.
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: Put it in the Hall of Fame, man.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: Put it in the Hall of Fame. What do you have,
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: Willie C?
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: I have something lesson-esque, kind of a write-in of perspective
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: from Greg Barber via email. First night in the big
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: boy bed. Boys, this is Greg from Massachusetts. I'm writing
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: this with a tear rolling down my cheek. Tonight is
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: the first night I'm putting my boy to sleep in
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: his own room in his own bed. He was a
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: terrible sleeper when he was younger and has co-slept with
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: my wife and I since he was five months old.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: He is now two years and three months and we
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: are expecting our second December. I made the executive decision
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: to pull off the bandaid and transition him into his
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: big boy bed starting this weekend. I always thought I
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: would be excited for the day I'd get my bed
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: back all alone with wifey, but I'm actually kind of sad.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: Sleeping in our bed is all he has memories of,
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: and even though he seemed excited to sleep in his
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: own bed, he was also scared and did not want
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: to turn the lights off. I assured him that everything
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: would be okay and that I was laying right next
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: to him, and we're going to go through this change together.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: We said a prayer to ask for a safe and
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: comfortable night's sleep in his new bed, And now he's
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: passed out like nothing in his world has changed. I
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: say that to say you really don't know when the
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: last time something will happen, so enjoy every moment. PT6 out.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: That's a great write-in, dude. It was with the stack here.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: I thought that was a good lesson-esque email to have
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: at the end of the show for perspective on you
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: never know when the last time something will happen. Rue's
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: getting heavier, man. She still likes to add a hole
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: in her. But Rue's getting heavier. When I got to
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: do the dryer with her big ass, bro, because I
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: do it with Scotty, it is just, I'm exhausted by
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: the time I get to the couch and put her down.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: I'm like, sweetheart, we got to dry you off. You're heavy, bro.
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: Those pickups, though, will transition into the later years. Those
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: will turn into celebration-type hugs.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: Where you're twirling around. You know what I mean?
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: It will still be there, but I know what you mean, dude.
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: I don't from the weight. But golly, that's going to
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: hurt when that day comes.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Getting to do two sleepovers in a row, too, with
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: mom out of town. Like, she's so fired up to
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: go climb in bed with dad. And how old for
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: when Scott Zilla joins in on those sleepovers?
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: I was thinking about going both of them for a sleepover.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: I just didn't pull the trigger.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: I forget how old Rue was. Rue was two, for sure,
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: when we started to do sleepovers. But I was always
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: so excited when we got to do our first one
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: with Rue. Like, when can we get her in the bed? Like,
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: it'll be so fun. Because they kick and move and
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: do all this stuff. Bothers mom way more than it
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: does me. Uh-huh. The little jommies, man. I can't get
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: over the jommies. Yeah. I can't wait for little Scottzilla
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: to do it first.
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: She's going to, I already know she's kicking when she's sleeping.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: Yeah. She's starting to, she's getting so talkative. But she'll
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: be like, Dad, Dad, stop. That's enough. She'll point too.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: She'll say, that's enough?
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: Yeah. That's enough. And it's the funniest thing. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: We got to interact with the kids because I feel like,
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: how long has it been since we've done our daughters together?
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: It's been a while. Probably since that time you were
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: over at the house and Scarlett and Scotty was hanging out.
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: And Scotty was trying to teach her how to sit
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: up and crawl. Yes. Scarlett's probably at the age that
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: Scotty was.
- 1:42:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Right?
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Like 15, 16 months. Well, we'll have to get
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: them rocking again. God. But Scott Zillow, she's... Dude, I
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: watched her over the weekend. We were up in the playroom.
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: And she kind of nipped her head on the easel
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: because she just wanted to do coloring. No, yeah, yeah.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: Went down to pick something up and nipped her head
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: on the easel. And I didn't react. I didn't do anything.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: I was kind of just watching her because she didn't
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: know that I saw. She didn't look up at me
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: or nothing. She hit her head, went down to pick
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: up the marker, put the marker on the easel, and
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: then went over by herself and just. She just puts
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: her head down. She just gets really sad when either
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: you correct her on something or she kind of hurts herself.
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: She just does it. She'll just go find an armrest
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: or something. She's eating the pain in that moment. Yeah.
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: She's the toughest critic.
- 1:43:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: She's eating the pain. She's got me, bro. I mean,
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: every time I'm like, oh, Scotty, what's wrong, sweetheart? She'll
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: come up with a bigger head in my... In my shoulder.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: Now I'm starting to get to a point where I'm like, hey,
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: we're chin up. You got to keep your head up.
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: Come on, kiddo.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: Because she'll just get down on herself about damn near anything.
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: If something happens, you can't get her to move her butt.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: I was about to say, you're probably laughing whenever it happens. Yeah,
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: every time. Stand up, man. Come on, man.
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: What you doing?
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: I have a lesson of the week, but I feel
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: like that was a good one to end on. I
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: can punt this one for next week.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: Let's punt. Let's punt.
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: Let's punt. Happy Halloween.
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: Happy Halloween. Go trick-or-treating. Enjoy the moments with the kiddos
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: when you're on the Halloween. Take out the trash. We shall.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: Take out the trash.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: See you next week. And give that candy fairy some
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: of your candy. Great data.
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: Good data.
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: Thank you.
