- 1:26for the link tree. And if you're enjoying the
- 1:28podcast radius five stars. Um, yeah, let's dive into it,
- 1:33Josh. Alright, my Bilo for this week
- 1:38is the best defenseman in the NHL, Kayla Mccarr.
- 1:43You spelled Lynn Hudson wrong. Also known as We have Lean
- 1:48Hudson at home. That's funny.
- 1:52Yeah, so a discount Lane Hudson. His season average is 1.08
- 1:58points per game .44 power play points, three shots and 1.7
- 2:01blocks, which is obviously elite.
- 2:03Elite, especially as a defenseman.
- 2:05This is what you expect when you draft Kyle Macar, usually in the
- 2:08first round, but in the past month he only has .58 points per
- 2:13game and .17 power play points. That's brutal.
- 2:16That's like you. That's a guy you don't even want
- 2:19to have on your team, you know? So this is kind of unheard of
- 2:22for my car. It was always just been amazing.
- 2:24A massive part of this underwhelming points total is
- 2:26the lack of power play production for the ABS as a
- 2:29whole. They should be a top five power
- 2:31play team in the league. Like they're in the same realm
- 2:34as like the Oilers. You know any power play that has
- 2:36my car? MacKinnon and Rantanen should be
- 2:38killing it, but they're currently at 19th in the league.
- 2:41They've been shuffling around the two free spots on the 1st
- 2:44power play unit due to all their injuries this year, but the only
- 2:46time that the power play really seems to click is when the
- 2:48Chicken is healthy. Having him as a big net front
- 2:51guy who is good at retrieving pucks seems to be the one
- 2:53archetype that they can't find a replacement for in their roster
- 2:55when he's gone. He suffered a setback this week,
- 2:58but he should be back in the next few weeks.
- 2:59I'm hoping as an intrusion owner and with him back, I'd expect
- 3:02the power play to start clicking as well as more even strength
- 3:05points. So Makar should get back to his
- 3:06regular crazy production soon. So while Nichushkin is out, this
- 3:10might be your only chance at a buy low on a guy who normally
- 3:12you would never be able to buy low on.
- 3:14You'll have to pay a lot to get him, but usually owners would
- 3:16never even consider trading him or as some owners might be a
- 3:18little frustrated right now. So some targets that I would say
- 3:22could entice the owner. I don't think you're going to be
- 3:24able to get anyone for ones defenseman wise from a car, but
- 3:28in a package I think you're going to use Zach Werenski,
- 3:31Rasmus Dahlin or Shade Theodore. They've all been over a point
- 3:35per game in the last month. They're all pretty big names on
- 3:38of their on their own right, the biggest one being Dolly and the
- 3:40smallest being Theodore. But I think any of these guys in
- 3:43a package could get my car and I think it would definitely pay
- 3:46off. Yeah, I mean, listen, you're
- 3:48buying the number one fantasy defenseman like in hockey,
- 3:53right? So already that's you're aiming
- 3:55for the top of the top. I really like everything you
- 3:57said. The only thing I will say
- 3:59though, is that from what I've been seeing from analysts and
- 4:02whatnot, that Colorado's power play has been really middle of
- 4:05the pack this season. Like I think the ranked 16th in
- 4:08the league, which is, yeah, there you go, even worse, right?
- 4:11So, but their metrics kind of show that that's where they
- 4:15belong. And I don't know if it's because
- 4:16they've kind of had a roller coaster of a carousel, if you
- 4:20will, of players coming in and out of that one.
- 4:23But in general, you expect this power play to be top five.
- 4:26And we know that that's their ceiling.
- 4:28So whether it's a personnel issue or strategy or whatnot,
- 4:31you have to make on them figuring it out.
- 4:33And I think that's really a safe bet to buy my car on the low.
- 4:37And before that bounce back happens, the names, the names
- 4:40you mentioned are really, really like, I think Zach Wronski and
- 4:43Rasmus Dahlin are like 3 of the OR two of the top 4 defensemen,
- 4:47Macar being the 3rd. So you're really like, no, but
- 4:51of his own. So it's like a tear jump.
- 4:54If you will share if you if you can make that happen for my car,
- 4:56that would be insane because that's the biggest your jump you
- 4:59can make right, But he's. The reason I mentioned him is
- 5:01he's been. Insanely yeah like what is it,
- 5:031.5 points per game for the last month?
- 5:04Like that's. Something else I mean it helps
- 5:06that he just had like a forest game but.
- 5:07Yeah, but still, if you can use that to sell him and get my
- 5:11card, that would be nuts. Obviously, like you said, 2 for
- 5:14ones probably are going to have to happen to make this happen.
- 5:17But yeah, I'd be all over that. I'd probably add Quinn Hughes of
- 5:23someone as like a one for one target even though Vancouver has
- 5:26been a bit. Of a mess.
- 5:27I mean you treat every defenseman from a car right?
- 5:29So much so that makes sense, but has been heard and not as good
- 5:34as recently. Yeah, so obviously this is an
- 5:39amazing thing. And the other reason I think
- 5:41that the Kale Macar owner will likely want to sell is because
- 5:45this person in all likelihood drafted Macar in the first
- 5:50round. And because of that, their team
- 5:52is likely suffering, so they're probably desperate to make a
- 5:54trade. So this is just an overall great
- 5:56choice. Targets are fantastic as well.
- 5:59But yeah, I mean, don't look at the past month production and
- 6:03get discouraged by any means. This is the best defenseman.
- 6:07He's probably, you know, like there's only, there's very few
- 6:10forwards who I'm convinced are going to get more points than
- 6:13him on the season. Getting that from a defensive
- 6:14position is unparalleled. So yeah, it's a great time to
- 6:19try to go for that by Low. Alright, I think my it's time
- 6:25for my bylaw. Um, I mean, listen, we're
- 6:29hitting all the positions today, which is great.
- 6:32The below is none other than Stanley Cup winning goaltender
- 6:37Sergei Bobrovsky of the Florida Panthers.
- 6:40In his last four starts, three of them he's averaged a point
- 6:44778862.773 before he just had a bounce back game against
- 6:49Anaheim. So I think you got to really act
- 6:51quick if you want to hop on this by low.
- 6:54But I mean, I think the manager of Circular Brodsky, the
- 6:58Panthers have been really mediocre for the last, I would
- 7:01say two months maybe like a lot of their star players are not
- 7:05producing close to half a point per game, which is wild.
- 7:09So All in all is just the Panthers have been not as good
- 7:12recently. Bobrovsky has left a sour taste
- 7:16in a lot of managers. Mouse, I think I think if you
- 7:18can flip them for a lot of these guys that are playing above
- 7:21expected or on more hot teams right now, I would try to do
- 7:24that absolutely, because I see Bob as a top ten, top 15 goalie
- 7:27rest of season. And so if you can use a top 15,
- 7:30top 20 type of goalie so season and flip him for Bob, I would
- 7:33jump on that. Like I'm thinking of swimming.
- 7:35I'm thinking of Bennington Wolf, Aiden Hill, Joey the Cord.
- 7:39These are all guys that I that I would trade for Bobrovsky rest
- 7:43of the season. Yeah, this is this is a great
- 7:47choice. Bob, unfortunately in his career
- 7:50has been a bit inconsistent, so these blips do happen.
- 7:53But the Panthers are a great team and he's definitely the guy
- 7:55over Spencer Knight, even though it's been pretty decent.
- 7:58But there's no chance that he's gonna take the net.
- 8:00From. But no, no, absolutely.
- 8:01Not and also your targets are really good.
- 8:04I don't know. It's hard and the one for one is
- 8:07obviously difficult, but like I said, Bob has been atrocious
- 8:12these last two weeks specifically, so that's why it's
- 8:15the windows cracked open as well as it's going to get.
- 8:18Yeah, exactly. It's well said.
- 8:21Yeah, I I think this is a great buy low.
- 8:23Like like you said, he's been really, really bad lately.
- 8:25And that whole Florida team, like I saw a stat today showing
- 8:28their like top five forwards and they have like each have like
- 8:31one goal in the last month. It's crazy.
- 8:33They're all averaging less than .5 points per game over the
- 8:36last. Month it's truly honestly this
- 8:37is like a team wide Bylo, but we'll focus on Bob for now.
- 8:41So I think definitely a good buy low for us.
- 8:43Obviously gonna end up as a top three team in the Atlantic,
- 8:45probably top two team in the Atlantic.
- 8:48So I don't have any doubt about that and about them bouncing
- 8:51back. You don't, you know, the Stanley
- 8:53Cup like reigning champs, they didn't really change the line up
- 8:55that much and they were started off the season super hot.
- 8:57So it's just a a tough stretch right now in terms of your
- 9:00targets. I don't think there's any chance
- 9:03someone's taking Bennington for for Bob.
- 9:07I actually I sent to that offer and got rejected immediately.
- 9:10I sent like Bennington plus like a little something for for Bob
- 9:13and it got rejected. I think Wolf is a stretch too,
- 9:17but he's been pretty. Good.
- 9:18He's been like a waiver guy, but he's kind of cementing himself
- 9:20as the main guy there in Calgary right now and he's playing well.
- 9:23Yeah, Yeah. Like, I mean, obviously I like
- 9:25all, I like that as like if you can get it, it's great.
- 9:27I just think it's a stretch to chord's been solid, So maybe you
- 9:30can do that, but I think that also would be hard.
- 9:32And then the two big ones here in your targets are hill and
- 9:34swimming. And I think I would prefer Bob
- 9:37to both of them. And I think both of those could
- 9:39probably get done one for one. Yeah.
- 9:41The only thing that dimension with Bob is that, I mean,
- 9:43Florida is known to not have necessarily the best playoff
- 9:46schedule, but I don't think that's as impactful when you're
- 9:48talking about goalies, right? Because they're already not
- 9:50getting like necessarily every single game, specifically Bob,
- 9:53we know that is getting like maybe 2/3 of the games already.
- 9:56I think when you're looking at playoff schedules for goalies
- 9:59versus players, you're looking at very different things.
- 10:01For players, you're really just looking at number of games
- 10:04played. That's the bottom line.
- 10:05Whoever plays the most games just has the most chances at
- 10:08getting stacks. So that's really what you're
- 10:10looking for. With goalies, it's more the
- 10:11quality of opponent you're playing because you'd much
- 10:14rather have like a 2 game week playing against like San Jose
- 10:17versus like a three or four-game week playing against like
- 10:20Winnipeg, Minnesota, Dallas, teams like that.
- 10:22So I think Florida is a bad schedule, playoff schedule for
- 10:26forwards because they're I think a 3-4 and two, but two games in
- 10:30there and in the finals is brutal.
- 10:32But in terms of goalies, I think they have some OK opponents.
- 10:35So it's definitely not as bad as it seems on paper.
- 10:37Yeah. Like I wouldn't.
- 10:38I just know that a lot of people are staying away from buying
- 10:42Panthers assets as a whole because of the schedule.
- 10:45But I'm just saying that that would not deter me from trying
- 10:48to browse key. Yeah, for sure.
- 10:50Absolutely. OK, I'm gonna introduce my bi lo
- 10:53with a little bit of trivia. How many pull ups was this
- 10:58player able to do at the NHL Combine?
- 11:013. Josh.
- 11:04Is this like when they do those like real, real pull ups?
- 11:06And so it's like a really small number.
- 11:07No, I have no idea. I just guessed 3 because I
- 11:09always guessed 3. I feel like there's a really
- 11:13small number for a professional. Athlete.
- 11:15It is absolutely some sort of crazy.
- 11:18It was 0. Imagine it's 0.
- 11:19I'm gonna go with 11. According to reports, when Sam
- 11:24Bennett took the NHL Scouting Combine physical test, he was
- 11:27unable to do a single. Pull up.
- 11:31Meaning he completed zero. I was.
- 11:34That's traditional combine, which is wild.
- 11:38Yeah, yeah. But Needless to say, he's
- 11:40improved since. How many can he do now?
- 11:44Pull ups are hard. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:47I know I don't want, I don't wanna knock him too hard.
- 11:52No, no, no. You can do it.
- 11:53We're not. You could do a pull.
- 11:56Up, yeah. Yeah, I could do a few pull-ups,
- 11:58like, yeah, whatever. But like we're.
- 12:00Not like 3. Pull pull up, connoisseurs.
- 12:02Or pull. Up here, but zero when you're
- 12:05like. But could you do 3 pull-ups
- 12:08under the pressure of the NHL Combine?
- 12:11I feel like I'd be better under pressure.
- 12:13Yeah. Whoa, is that like?
- 12:14Home and no ones watching then I could just pretend I did them,
- 12:16you know? But if I'm at the really do
- 12:18them. Yeah, and he was like a top
- 12:21prospect as well. So yeah, you.
- 12:22Know it's pretty crazy that he wasn't able to, but since then
- 12:25he's gonna sound like cup, so clearly he's redeemed himself.
- 12:27Yeah, seems a lot. Cooler fire, sorry.
- 12:30So he's a lot cooler than us, even though we can do some
- 12:32pull-ups. He doesn't have a fantasy hockey
- 12:34podcast, so I wouldn't say that he's cooler.
- 12:36Than us, but anyway. Yes.
- 12:39So Sam Bennett of the Florida Panthers, as Josh mentioned, the
- 12:42whole team is pretty much a bylaw right now.
- 12:44Bennett was on fire at the beginning of the season when
- 12:47Barkov was out, and at that time I expected this points to
- 12:50regress, but not to this extreme level of only one goal and one
- 12:55assist over the last month. Which is crazy.
- 12:59Wild he's not. The it's almost as few points as
- 13:02pull-ups. That's hilarious.
- 13:09Yeah, literally. Really.
- 13:13Yeah. So he's not like the offensive
- 13:16guy on the Panthers. You know, he's not Reinhart,
- 13:18he's not Barkov, whatever, but he's not to chalk.
- 13:21But he's extremely elite at the peripheral categories and it
- 13:24shows on goal are still strong even throughout this massive
- 13:28goal scoring slump. Last year was around 12%
- 13:32shooting percentage on the year, and this year he's had 10%.
- 13:35But over the last month he's at 2%, which is extremely low.
- 13:39And the points took like, you know, these goals are like
- 13:44they're, they're, they're gonna regress substantially.
- 13:46Like he's gonna start getting more goals because he's been
- 13:49shooting so well. He's also a Pimm's monster.
- 13:52So the way I see it is that even if he gets .6 points per game
- 13:56rest of the season, and I think he could get between .6 and .7,
- 13:59then he's a top guy that I really want to have on my team.
- 14:02Essentially his points of like tremendously, but with this
- 14:05inevitable positive regression in that category, plus being a
- 14:09lead at everything else, he's a top, top guy for bangers league
- 14:12that I would love to have rest of season.
- 14:13So some guys that I would want to period 4 Bennett would be
- 14:17Brian Rust, Nazem Kadri, Jordan Cairo and three letter PLD.
- 14:24This is OK. So I completely agree with Sam
- 14:28Benna being a bi Lo. I think obviously when a guy is
- 14:32putting up two points in a whole month, it's it's really, really,
- 14:35really bad. And all the shooting percentages
- 14:37stats that you mentioned? My unborn son could do that.
- 14:40Yeah, and you will probably do a pull up too.
- 14:47I mean, yeah, the bar is low, pun intended, but yeah, there
- 14:54you go. I could do one too.
- 14:55One guy. I think of them, I just don't
- 14:57say them, but I I think. Tina Pangolin and not fun guy.
- 15:03It's the filter. Exactly.
- 15:05I have highbrow humor. OK, Jakey, it's fine.
- 15:09I was impressed. I think you should do more.
- 15:11Of them, I never text today, but I was gonna say we mentioned it
- 15:13with Broski too, like all of Florida right now.
- 15:15It's kind of not good, right? So all their guys are kind of by
- 15:18laws and being one of the most clear ones just because of how
- 15:21low his points are. I like your targets, some of
- 15:24them. It's just like crazy to me when
- 15:27you're when you're picturing. I think most leagues don't have
- 15:29him. So I'm taking that out of the
- 15:31equation. But I mean, Ben is known for
- 15:33being one of the banger studs, right?
- 15:34Especially from pure position. I'd trade buying restroom.
- 15:37I traded PLD for him easy. I think Kaja and Carrie was
- 15:39definitely tougher, right, because these guys are like
- 15:41elite shot takers and points getters to.
- 15:45So that's that's a close line for me.
- 15:48I'd probably I don't think you need to send guys of that
- 15:50caliber to get better. I think you can send much, much
- 15:52weaker guys. Yeah, I, I fully agree with both
- 15:56of you guys. So first of all, I actually, I
- 15:58had mentioned Sam Bennett as my hold either last week or two
- 16:02weeks ago in the in our ad hold drop episode because I fully
- 16:05agree with everything you're saying.
- 16:06These points totals are not going to stay this low and you
- 16:09don't need him to be that crazy points guy with how much he
- 16:12contributes to other categories. So everything you said, Jake,
- 16:14fully agree. In terms of the targets, I agree
- 16:16with the Brian Ruston PLD, both of those, I would take Bennett
- 16:19over them. And I also agree with Kevin with
- 16:21the country and Kairu, where I think I would rather have Kadri
- 16:23and Kairu. And I don't think you need to
- 16:26send guys that good to get Benny right now.
- 16:27He's so he's at such a low that sending anyone of value right
- 16:32now probably gets you him, you know?
- 16:34And I think what if you sent like, I think you could like an
- 16:38Anders Lee, I think that would be a good call.
- 16:43Maybe maybe you can send somebody even lesser than that.
- 16:46Yeah, maybe so. Thomas Hurdle.
- 16:49I sent a trade earlier in our league.
- 16:51They got rejected. Basically, I was giving Eric
- 16:54Carlson, Freddie Anderson, Nazem Kadri, OK, receiving Joey
- 16:58Decord, more outsider Sam Bennett.
- 17:01I mean, I don't think, I don't think.
- 17:02I think the problem there is cider.
- 17:04But I think that's a very fair trade.
- 17:06Yeah, absolutely. I actually I think he just want
- 17:08to give away. Cider is more likely than not
- 17:11giving away. For sure.
- 17:12But I mean, the fact is that if the guys that Jake, he's giving
- 17:16up, like Kadri is doing so much better, is so much better than
- 17:19Bennett, that like that makes up for and I view Anderson higher
- 17:22than the cord. So I think that makes up for the
- 17:24Carlson decider and that's a great offer and I think it could
- 17:27have easily gotten accepted in a leak that actually trades.
- 17:31Really is tough for trades. It's it's honestly unfortunate
- 17:33because we're all, I think the three of us are the ones that
- 17:35love trading the most in all of fantasy.
- 17:37Anybody that plays fantasy, nobody loves trading more than
- 17:39us. Yeah.
- 17:40And yet we're in the worst trading league.
- 17:42So it's tough. It's crazy.
- 17:43Yeah, it's. Also wild cuz we're always like
- 17:46cycling through a couple of teams every year but it just
- 17:49never improves the trading morale.
- 17:50Yeah. But I see what you guys are
- 17:53saying, but not having to give that much, I mean, I guess we we
- 17:59believe that trading should happen in packages.
- 18:01So this is sort of like who I would pair for them.
- 18:04But yeah, I see where you're coming from that you could
- 18:07probably benefit for even lower. And you never, you want to give
- 18:09the lowest you can to buy a good player.
- 18:11And I think Bennett's a good target right now.
- 18:15Yeah. So yeah, let's move on to your
- 18:17cell. Hi, Josh.
- 18:19Alright my cell hi, I will caveat this by saying that I'm
- 18:22actively trying to buy him but but I still think he's a crazy
- 18:26sell high is Dylan Holloway. So this is a bit of a lower
- 18:30stakes guy compared to our usual recommendations.
- 18:32I feel like we're usually going for 8090% owned guys but just
- 18:36with how he's been doing lately. I just have to mention him as a
- 18:39cell high because I looked at his last month stats and it's
- 18:41just absurd. So in the past month he's at
- 18:441.31 points per game .31 power play points, 2.7 shots and 2.3
- 18:49hits. This is first round pick in a
- 18:51bangers league. Stats like this is like if JT
- 18:54Miller was doing this you'd be like so happy with him.
- 18:56You know these are actually crazy stats for and he was most
- 19:00likely a free agent pickup for most people.
- 19:02His backups have always been solid so that I don't expect to
- 19:05go down especially and the improvement in deployment since
- 19:08the coaching change explains the jump in points.
- 19:10But there's just no way he's maintaining this level for the
- 19:12rest of the season. I would expect him to finish
- 19:14around point 7.8 points per game with those same back cats which
- 19:18is still really good, but if you could get a point per game
- 19:20player in return for him while he's hot then you should
- 19:22definitely try. So some targets I'm looking at
- 19:25are Brad Marshawn, Nasim Kadri, Zach Hyman, Brock Besser, Drake
- 19:30Batherson. Yeah.
- 19:34I I like a lot of those targets. Yep, JQ, we took the words out
- 19:38of our. Matches.
- 19:41Thanks, Josh. I just wanted to be included.
- 19:46Yeah, yeah. I I have another one.
- 19:49What do you think, Sam Bennett or Dylan Holloway?
- 19:52I'm taking Holloway yeah OK and and and I really like Bennett,
- 19:56but I think the fact that Holloway's bad cats are just so
- 19:59sick then true you know you're not really getting gaining much
- 20:02from Bennett's back at. Yeah, I find myself also wanting
- 20:05to buy some of our sell highs, you know what I mean?
- 20:08And then I have to try to fight back.
- 20:09With that just means they're good.
- 20:10Sell high. They're great selfies.
- 20:12I think they're really good targets that you put into.
- 20:14I look all of them and Dylan Holloway is just simply a really
- 20:17good sell high. It just goes to show right
- 20:20player to the right team. He was pretty much nothing on
- 20:22Edmonton. Now he's one of the best players
- 20:24on the Blues. So coming into next year, even
- 20:28if he's out .7 to .8, we're thinking of this guy as like a
- 20:30top five round pick in bangers leagues, which is sick.
- 20:33Like, you know, and I think that that could get there, which,
- 20:35yeah, but it's a good sell high for now.
- 20:37And I'd rather the guys you mentioned, they're just more
- 20:39reliable. Yep, I think Holloway is really
- 20:42fun because he's quickly getting into that conversation of pickup
- 20:45of the year, right? Ever since the coaching change,
- 20:47he's been insane. And he's hitting all the
- 20:50categories too. Like he's shooting and hitting
- 20:52at such a high level, like being able to pick up a guy that
- 20:55becomes a double double on your team that's also extremely good
- 20:58on the power play endpoints is a blessing.
- 21:00Like that does not happen. So I can really see like the
- 21:03manager not wanting, if you own Holloway, I can see you not
- 21:06wanting to sell him, but also it's such a good opportunity to
- 21:09really tear up. And I think all the names that
- 21:11Josh mentioned are really good targets.
- 21:13My favorites would be getting Hymen and I think Hyman and
- 21:19quadruple my favorites out of this, even though that's a
- 21:22different position there. But I would take any of these
- 21:24guys. I think my least favorite is
- 21:26Besser out of all of them. Yeah, I agree.
- 21:30Yep. All right, time for my cell
- 21:33high. My cell high is a guy that I
- 21:36actually really like your fantasy.
- 21:38And I feel like I always have a soft spot for him more than
- 21:40anybody else. But it is Bo Horvat of the New
- 21:43York Islanders. Is both short for something or
- 21:46is that just like a full name? Bonathan good.
- 21:53This. Part of the more serious answer.
- 21:58Boys, short for Bobbert. Alright, go ahead.
- 22:02Yeah, no, I think it's just both.
- 22:04But yeah, I I love you Bull Horvat.
- 22:06Sorry, over the last month is averaging one point per game and
- 22:12which I feel like for borehole Horvat, you wouldn't say that's
- 22:15too. Yeah, that was that was messing
- 22:17up my words and my names. Actually short for Bowie.
- 22:21Bowie William. The full name of Canadian
- 22:24hockey. Player like Bowie, how do you
- 22:25spell that? Like David.
- 22:27Oh my God. That's a weird way to spell
- 22:29Bowie. David Gone.
- 22:37Alright, anyway, yeah, so Bowie, William Horvat Bow for short.
- 22:42OK. I prefer Jonathan.
- 22:45I'm going to call a Bowie doll. So Bowie's been averaging one
- 22:50point per game for the last month, which I feel like if you
- 22:53know him historically, that's not a crazy number, right?
- 22:56Like on Vancouver he was a stud, but on the Island it's a
- 22:59different story. He's more of like a point 8.9
- 23:01points per game type of player. The thing is that I don't have
- 23:05one of the worst power plays in the league, but over the last
- 23:08month he's averaging 0.5 power play points.
- 23:10So half is half his points over the last month of all been on
- 23:13the power play for power play. That's the bottom five in the
- 23:15league. So you kind of know you can, you
- 23:17know, connect the dots and be like, alright, this is not
- 23:19really something that's sustainable.
- 23:21So I would try to trade him before the production regresses
- 23:25where he doesn't. He's not getting as many power
- 23:27play points. He's been shooting more as well.
- 23:30He's honestly a really well-rounded centre.
- 23:32Like he she shoots, he's an elite face off winner.
- 23:35He'll contribute and hit some blocks, but I think now is the
- 23:38time to hop off this ship while he still has this elite
- 23:41production and get a guy that you know that you're going to be
- 23:43able to hold value rest of season.
- 23:47They won't have as much of the highs and the lows.
- 23:50I think if you can flip them for Joel Ericsson egg, that's a
- 23:52great target because he's also a guy that's really good at
- 23:54category coverage who his points haven't really been up there as
- 23:58of right now. If you can get Nick Suzuki,
- 24:00that'd be great, especially because he has a great playoff
- 24:02schedule as well. If we're talking cross position
- 24:05for those leagues that you know, maybe have too many centres,
- 24:07you're looking at wingers or defensemen instead.
- 24:09If you can get Mark Stoner, Matt Boldy, I think those are great
- 24:12targets. And for defensemen, I would do
- 24:16one for one trade for most cider, which is going to be
- 24:18tough, maybe in a package or Sergachev right now was hurt.
- 24:22I think in terms of, you know, comparing centres towards cross
- 24:26position defensemen and the scarcity there, I think I'd take
- 24:29Sergachev over Horvat rest of the season.
- 24:32What do you guys? Have learned today is that.
- 24:34I'm higher on Sergio. Sergio Chevy, I had no idea you
- 24:38were such a. I think he's, I think he's a
- 24:40fringe top 10 defenseman. I just, I, I don't get it.
- 24:44I don't get why you're so high on him.
- 24:45But it's fine. Like he, he's very good.
- 24:47I think he's very good. I just don't think he's as good
- 24:49as you're making him out to me. But in terms of Bowie or
- 24:53Bonathan? Boni.
- 24:54Fully agree with everything you're saying.
- 24:56I very it's very hard for me to ever trust and expect consistent
- 25:00point production from someone on the Islanders.
- 25:02They've just been historically a very bad team for points and
- 25:07just in general a very great. Player though and like.
- 25:10For sure, yeah. But just honestly anyone on that
- 25:12team, don't expect them to keep like that point pace.
- 25:15I didn't wanna say also before I interrupt you, sorry Josh, but I
- 25:19forgot to mention in my in my spiel that they did change the
- 25:22lines recently and they kind of stacked that first line where
- 25:24he's finally playing with Andrew Lee and Barzal, which I think is
- 25:27their best top line. So maybe it's not a huge
- 25:30surprise that they've been better attacking with the new
- 25:34line setup. But yeah, you still obviously, I
- 25:37think that's more reason why to use that as leverage to sell
- 25:40them. Yeah, so, so yeah.
- 25:42So anyway, so I was saying like I agree with the with that his
- 25:45points are are like higher than I would expect him to stay.
- 25:47Especially the PowerPoint power play points being .5 is just
- 25:50unreal, especially on the Islanders.
- 25:53In terms of your targets, I agree with pretty much all of
- 25:55them. I'm really surprised to see Mark
- 25:57Stone on here cause you're a Mark stone hater so.
- 26:01So I hate playing against Mark Stone.
- 26:03Yeah, but you but you you like him this year as a as an asset,
- 26:08Yeah, I mean, I like. All of this my heart, but yeah.
- 26:11Yeah, my favorite. I mean, I like the same
- 26:14position. Ones like Erickson Eck and
- 26:15Suzuki would both much rather have over horror fat.
- 26:18I think those are great ones. Body I think is awesome.
- 26:20Cider sick. Sergachev I'm not as high on as
- 26:22you, but I think I was still taking him for Horvat and a
- 26:25stone as well. I think I'm not the highest on
- 26:26him, but I'd probably still take him over Horvat.
- 26:29Yeah, this is really good and it's just a really good choice.
- 26:34Joel Erickson is probably my favorite here because I just
- 26:36think he's the most elite for Bangor categories.
- 26:39And yeah, I mean, you know, if you can flip the points, that's
- 26:44usually seen as superior. But I mean, Horvath's gonna
- 26:47regress, as you mentioned, so yeah, it's time to say goodbye
- 26:51to Bowie. That was so depressing, the way
- 26:55you said that. It's really sad.
- 26:59Sorry, sorry. Everybody.
- 27:01Cool, Should I move on to my cell high?
- 27:04You should. Bye bye Bowie.
- 27:09He's on a space already. Sorry.
- 27:13OK, so my choice is an awesome dude.
- 27:18He's just great in every way. So it is Logan Thompson of the
- 27:24Washington Capital, starting off with the bull case.
- 27:28Q Josh saying Jake did finance. Yeah.
- 27:30This man's just awesome at everything.
- 27:32His flow unparalleled his personality.
- 27:35While I don't know him, I remember seeing something on
- 27:38Instagram from someone a few years ago who was like it was a
- 27:41post about Thompson and he commented my cousin went to high
- 27:44school with this guy and he said he was the nicest guy ever.
- 27:46Doesn't surprise me. He's awesome and most
- 27:48importantly, I. That was actually me leaving
- 27:50that comment. Do you know someone who went to
- 27:53high school with Thompson? No, I don't know.
- 27:55Just kidding. OK, that would be cool, though.
- 27:57That'd be cool. But yeah, most importantly, I
- 27:59drafted him on my team and I have loved it since the
- 28:02beginning. Move over Dustin Wolf, there's a
- 28:04new sheriff in town. However, I have loved owning
- 28:09Thompson a tad too much as of late, and although it really
- 28:13pains me to suggest selling one of my top assets in our main
- 28:16league, I'm dedicated to our podcast and craft and how to
- 28:19give you guys the best objective advice that I can.
- 28:22So Charlie Lingering, who's been in a tandem with Thompson all
- 28:26year, even though Thompson has been far superior, was hurt on
- 28:29January 10th. Since then, Thompson played
- 28:31every game, and over those last five games he's won all of them.
- 28:35Posted 2 shutouts and his worst save percentage has been a 938.
- 28:40Let's discuss Charlie Nuts nuts. Absolutely not.
- 28:44Sorry Josh. I know they're kind of feeling
- 28:46the brunt this week. Yeah.
- 28:48Good segue into this new thing, though.
- 28:50Unfortunately, Charlie Lindgren is, well, not information.
- 28:52OK? Anyway, Charlie Linger is not
- 28:54healthy, which is fortunate for him and everyone involved.
- 28:57And we want players to be healthy, but fantasy is what
- 29:01we're talking about. So if you're a Thompson owner,
- 29:03it sucks. Charlie Lindgren is now back and
- 29:05he's playing in his first game on January 23rd, so this screams
- 29:11regression for Thompson. There's two possible outcomes
- 29:13here. 1 The Capitals keep riding the tandem, so Thompson is well
- 29:17rested for the Capitals in the playoffs, and Thompson
- 29:21continuously puts up elite, although still gonna slow down
- 29:24from this percentages or two. Uh, Thompson takes over as the
- 29:30starter and he starts putting up more volume but less good
- 29:33percentages moving forward. I think it's gonna be the first
- 29:37one where they keep running the tandem.
- 29:38So really the only guys I'd be willing to sell Thompson for is
- 29:42one of the elite goalies. First we got Connor Hellebuyck,
- 29:46although he's probably untouchable, right Kevin?
- 29:48We owed him in another league. There's no way.
- 29:50We're going to mean he's like one of the best fantasy players.
- 29:53Yeah, that's it. So it have to be Logan Thompson
- 29:55plus again, elite, elite asset. So at that point, I don't think
- 29:58it's worth it. What?
- 29:59Vasilevsky, Ottinger and Chesterton are all guys that
- 30:03feel more comfortable owning over Thompson rest of season
- 30:06because they have a proven track record of being elite goalies
- 30:10and our sure thing starters barring injury.
- 30:13I'm sure that Kevin could come up with a few other names that
- 30:17he'd rather, but yeah. I can see you pressing.
- 30:24Josh, I don't know, maybe you have.
- 30:25Activated my trap card. Would you rather sorry?
- 30:30Yeah. But yeah.
- 30:31So anyway, I mean, I think do we all agree that you'd rather have
- 30:35these guys over Thompson rest of the.
- 30:37Season yeah, I like this as a sell high a lot.
- 30:40I mean, he's just been unreal. This is one of those like, this
- 30:43is a really good sell high because we're not trying to
- 30:47swindle our trade partners. You know what I mean?
- 30:49Like we're not trying to sell them someone who's doing so well
- 30:51and is going to become like garbage after we trade them.
- 30:53This is someone who's going to be good rest of season
- 30:55regardless. It's just that he's doing too
- 30:57good right now. So that's when you could jump
- 30:59into the next tier. So I fully agree with everything
- 31:02you said. I think the one of the biggest
- 31:04caps on him is Charlie Lindgren and just the fact that they're
- 31:07so comfortable in a playoff spot, they have no reason to
- 31:09overwork Thompson when he's clearly going to be their
- 31:12starter for the entire playoffs. So they have no reason not to go
- 31:15back and forth with Lingren. I mean, it could be a A2 out of
- 31:18three type of thing, but it's definitely he's definitely gonna
- 31:20lose a lot of starts now that lingering is back.
- 31:21So I think it's a great sell high.
- 31:23In terms of your targets, I agree.
- 31:24Hello. Buck is untouchable.
- 31:26I don't think that's gonna happen.
- 31:27But in terms of your other ones, I think they're all better than
- 31:32Thompson, the only one that like is kind of crazy.
- 31:34But like Justin, you know, like who knows?
- 31:35But Rangers are turning a corner.
- 31:37So I think, I think he still is. I think Chesterton is actually
- 31:40the one, the most likely 1 you can get.
- 31:41And I think if you sent that, you know, like one for one, it's
- 31:45still possible that it gets done, which is kind of crazy.
- 31:47I think one for one these can all get done.
- 31:49Like, not hella buck obviously, but.
- 31:52Second, I think they're all in the realm of possibility because
- 31:55of how good Thompson has been. It's obviously he doesn't have
- 31:57the same name value as these guys.
- 31:59So it's possible, you know, you might have to throw in a little
- 32:01bit extra or the owner is just, you know, not gonna be into it.
- 32:04But if they're like a believer or they just look at the numbers
- 32:06and see how insane he's been, you can pull these off.
- 32:08And I think these are all great moves.
- 32:10Yeah, I, I, I, I, you know, reiterate everything you guys
- 32:15have said. I think when the goal is this
- 32:17hot, it's you're not doing yourself a service if you're not
- 32:20trying to trade them and you gotta aim high.
- 32:23I mean, in your league, who knows?
- 32:24Try Connor Hellebuyck, maybe in a package, like maybe the owner
- 32:28is more receptive to it than you thought.
- 32:30Like, you gotta do your due diligence.
- 32:32But Vasilevsky, orange chicken, I think to me, there's one,
- 32:35there's four tiers of goalies. Let's say Tier 1 is only
- 32:39Helbock. Tier 2 is Vasilevski 113.
- 32:42Then tier 3 encompasses a lot of guys and I think Thompson is
- 32:45just in that tier. But if you can, you know, get
- 32:48some other guy plus or tear up, that's always what you trying to
- 32:53do. When you got somebody doing as
- 32:54well as Logan Thompson, it's like all Mark when he had a
- 32:57stretch of two weeks where he was like the best thing on the
- 32:59planet, yeah, you gotta try to trade him, but don't try to get
- 33:03rid of him. You know, get fair.
- 33:05Value. That's it.
- 33:06This isn't a guy who's gonna turn into a pumpkin, you know,
- 33:08like he's still gonna be. If you can't treat him, it's not
- 33:10the end of the world. You just have to be stuck with a
- 33:12really good goalie, you know? But if?
- 33:13Like, and if he does turn into a pumpkin, we're not liable.
- 33:15Yeah, don't you put that on us. But yeah, it's a, it's a good
- 33:22one. And like you said, Josh, you
- 33:25know, you're, you're still stuck with like a really great goalie.
- 33:27It's not the end of the world if you can't get rid of him.
- 33:29It's just, yeah, we wanna level up here.
- 33:31And I think that's how you can do it.
- 33:34Cool. That wraps up our Buy Low Sell
