- 3:04Speaker 5: Oh, you mean the one who gives so much mind
- 3:06Speaker 5: of charity and is mixed up in the.
- 3:07Speaker 6: East Bay Boys Club.
- 3:09Speaker 3: That's the one.
- 3:10Speaker 6: What's with her?
- 3:11Speaker 3: Seems someone wrote her a threatening letters, So get your hat.
- 3:14Speaker 3: She's waiting for us.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I've already got it, Nick, But just watching this mysterious
- 3:18Speaker 5: someone threatened Missus Gordon.
- 3:20Speaker 3: With anyway, Apparently someone is trying to kill her.
- 3:23Speaker 7: By prayer, Oh mighty power is too great for the
- 3:37Speaker 7: mind of mortal to know. I pray you grant.
- 3:41Speaker 3: The boone of gain to the woman, Missus Benjamin Gordon.
- 3:48Speaker 8: Lie.
- 4:10Speaker 9: Oh, come in, mister Carter. Missus Gordon is expecting you.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 4:14Speaker 9: I'm Albert Farmer, Missus Gordon, Secretary.
- 4:16Speaker 3: And this is miss Bowen, my assistant. How do you do,
- 4:18Speaker 3: miss bowl?
- 4:19Speaker 6: How do you do in here?
- 4:20Speaker 3: Please?
- 4:23Speaker 4: Sorry? I dropped my cane.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I got it, thank you.
- 4:27Speaker 9: I turned my ankle last week and I'm still clumsy.
- 4:30Speaker 3: With this cane here?
- 4:32Speaker 4: Please, thank you Missus Gordon. Here's mister Carter and his assistant,
- 4:36Speaker 4: Miss Bowen.
- 4:37Speaker 3: How do you do, Missus Gordon?
- 4:39Speaker 10: How do you do?
- 4:39Speaker 6: How do you do?
- 4:40Speaker 3: See Andy?
- 4:41Speaker 8: I told you I'll still be alive in kicking when
- 4:43Speaker 8: mister Carter got here.
- 4:44Speaker 11: Be quiet, Blake. This is my nephew, Blake Gordon. Mister Carter,
- 4:47Speaker 11: he's lazy and impertinent. Pay no attention to him.
- 4:50Speaker 8: No, Andy, you'll know mister Carter will suspect me instantly.
- 4:54Speaker 8: I'm the only one who has any reason to want
- 4:56Speaker 8: your bed. I'm the only one who inherits anything except
- 5:00Speaker 8: those charities of yours.
- 5:01Speaker 11: That's enough, flake read mister Carter. You certainly took your time.
- 5:05Speaker 11: I could have been dead before you got here.
- 5:07Speaker 3: The time seemed longer because you're so upset, Missus Gordon.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Of course I'm upset.
- 5:11Speaker 3: How over the phone you mentioned the letter, Yes.
- 5:13Speaker 6: A hearted letter. Give it to him now that.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Here it is, mister Carter, thank you. Hmmm, cheap endlope
- 5:20Speaker 3: addressed and a typewriter.
- 5:22Speaker 5: But it has a return address. People are right threatening.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Letters don't usually give their addresses.
- 5:27Speaker 3: No, they don't. Temple of Thought five one three eight
- 5:31Speaker 3: Second Avenue.
- 5:32Speaker 8: That's the worst slum district in the city.
- 5:34Speaker 10: What in the world is the Temple of Thought?
- 5:36Speaker 3: Oh no, let's see what the letter says.
- 5:39Speaker 10: Uh huh.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Dear missus Gordon, I'm happy to inform you that the
- 5:43Speaker 3: boon of death has been requested for you. I have begun
- 5:47Speaker 3: to pray for your release from life. In accordance with
- 5:49Speaker 3: the ancient ritual, I advise you to put your affairs
- 5:52Speaker 3: in order so that you may enter into the peace
- 5:53Speaker 3: of eternity with a free mind. Signed Rama High priest
- 5:58Speaker 3: or the Temple of Thought.
- 6:00Speaker 6: I've seen threatening letters before, but this certainly beats them all.
- 6:03Speaker 9: I feel shorts from a crank, don't you agree, mister Carter.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Not necessarily, mister Farmer, though it certainly is worded curiously.
- 6:10Speaker 8: My theory is that Williams the chauffeurs behind this andy.
- 6:14Speaker 8: Remember when you discharge him last week he threatened to
- 6:17Speaker 8: kill you.
- 6:17Speaker 11: We're not interested in your theories, Blake.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Mister Carter. You must catch this RAMA person and lock
- 6:23Speaker 6: him up immediately.
- 6:24Speaker 3: All right. I'll call him right away and see what
- 6:26Speaker 3: he's up to. Have you notified the police?
- 6:28Speaker 6: The police no lying entirely on you, Albert.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Yes, Missus Gordon, go upstairs and.
- 6:34Speaker 6: Make sure there are no crowd is looking.
- 6:36Speaker 11: About, and I'm going up and lock myself in my
- 6:39Speaker 11: room until this RAMA person is dealt with.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I don't think you're in any real danger, Missus Gordon. Well,
- 6:45Speaker 3: I can't do any harm to take the cautions.
- 6:48Speaker 11: Then I'm going upstairs, Blake. You will see mister Carter
- 6:52Speaker 11: and miss Bowman to the.
- 6:53Speaker 8: Door right over Andrey. I hope you can ease the
- 6:57Speaker 8: old girl's mind. You see here Bach is worse than
- 7:01Speaker 8: her bite. Why she's getting away.
- 7:05Speaker 4: She's finally gone stairs.
- 7:07Speaker 3: She fell all away to the front of the stairs.
- 7:10Speaker 6: She is moving, Nick, What is it?
- 7:11Speaker 4: What's happened to missus Gordon?
- 7:12Speaker 10: She fell down the stairs, Miss Cotter?
- 7:14Speaker 3: Is she sorry? Mister Gordon, but your aunt is dead? Now? Look, Nick,
- 7:30Speaker 3: I've been in a homicide bureau for ten years and
- 7:33Speaker 3: I've never heard of anyone getting prayed to death. That's
- 7:36Speaker 3: strictly screwball stuff, I know, Maddie. But just the same
- 7:39Speaker 3: two hours after she received that letter, as says, Gordon
- 7:41Speaker 3: died but accidentally, Nick, any of the maiden Blake, Gordon,
- 7:45Speaker 3: the nephew swear they saw her fall down the stairs
- 7:48Speaker 3: break her neck when nobody was nearer. That's true, I know,
- 7:51Speaker 3: But in her secretary was upstairs, swear there's no one
- 7:54Speaker 3: in the upper hall or even so. Okay, it was
- 7:56Speaker 3: an accident. She fainted, her had a heart it's Maddie,
- 7:59Speaker 3: did you know? Instead, according to the coroner's report, there
- 8:01Speaker 3: was a curious bruise on her body, a small round
- 8:04Speaker 3: bruise directly over the solar plexus. So what Naturally she
- 8:07Speaker 3: bruised herself falling downstairs, but she fell back. Listen, Nick
- 8:11Speaker 3: all ll anyway, I fact you'd want to question this
- 8:13Speaker 3: Rama with me? Ry, I left Patsy at the office
- 8:16Speaker 3: and stop by for you. Of course I want to
- 8:17Speaker 3: talk to him, But I still say, you don't kill
- 8:19Speaker 3: people by praying them to death. Well, no answer. Maybe
- 8:36Speaker 3: mister Rama has beat it. I doubt it. Let's try
- 8:39Speaker 3: to do it. Okay, Hey, they ain't even locked. I
- 8:43Speaker 3: suppose we see what a Temple of Thought looks like.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Oh brother, what a joint. You can say that again.
- 8:53Speaker 3: They're all loft, all fixed up with red velvet curtains
- 8:56Speaker 3: and funny looking idols. Somebody certainly likes O hand incense.
- 9:00Speaker 8: You wish to see Rama, High Priest of the Temple
- 9:04Speaker 8: of Thought that, Hey, where did you come from from
- 9:06Speaker 8: behind the kittens? I was meditating and could not answer.
- 9:10Speaker 8: You're not you Rama, I am Rama, and you are
- 9:14Speaker 8: the police. What you have come to question me about
- 9:17Speaker 8: the death of missus Benjamin Gordon?
- 9:19Speaker 3: Hey, how do you know she's dead? Ain't gonn announce yet?
- 9:22Speaker 8: The spirits arranged for me to be informed it was
- 9:26Speaker 8: I who killed her.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Oh, you're admitting it. I am not admitting it. I
- 9:30Speaker 3: am steating it. Then you're confessing to murder.
- 9:33Speaker 8: Now you're being ridiculous. It is not yet the crime
- 9:36Speaker 8: to pray for someone to die. There, Mary, I thank
- 9:41Speaker 8: you for realizing the obvious.
- 9:42Speaker 3: We're not here to charge you with murder. We want information.
- 9:45Speaker 8: Rama has no secret, and suppose you explain what you're
- 9:48Speaker 8: up to and fast.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I am an Oriental mystic.
- 9:50Speaker 8: It happens. I know a rare ancient Eastern prayer that
- 9:53Speaker 8: frequently brings death within a very short time.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Do you mean you're in a business of selling death? Yes,
- 9:58Speaker 3: but quite.
- 9:59Speaker 8: Legally will of all, there are many people who desire
- 10:02Speaker 8: someone's death, Sure, but they come to me and pay
- 10:06Speaker 8: what they can. I provide the death prayer. I need
- 10:09Speaker 8: no guarantee, but if death does not occur within one year,
- 10:12Speaker 8: I refund the money.
- 10:14Speaker 3: It is a simple business transactions. How many times have
- 10:18Speaker 3: you been successful to date? More than you will believe.
- 10:21Speaker 8: I will get the names of six persons who I
- 10:23Speaker 8: have provided with death you may check them for yourself.
- 10:27Speaker 4: You're dire right.
- 10:27Speaker 3: We will suppose you tell us who it was that
- 10:30Speaker 3: ordered missus Gordon's death. I do not know, or do
- 10:33Speaker 3: you mean you don't know?
- 10:34Speaker 8: The order came by mail with five hundred dollar bills
- 10:37Speaker 8: in close nine hundred and not was composed of words
- 10:40Speaker 8: cliped from newspapers and simply asked me to pray for
- 10:43Speaker 8: the death of missus Gordon.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Huh, so you prayed and she dies, So the transaction
- 10:49Speaker 3: is closed.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Boy, you were a pardonness.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Hello, Yes, this is drama speaking. Thank you.
- 10:58Speaker 8: I was sure you would be satisfied. I understand. Goodbye.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Hey, who was that? Faith? Gentlemen?
- 11:07Speaker 8: What the client who ordered missus Gordon's death? He said
- 11:10Speaker 8: that he had highly pleased with my services and descending
- 11:13Speaker 8: me an order for a second death prayer tomorrow.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Well, apparently Nick has encountered a new and baffling method
- 11:28Speaker 2: of murder. We'll find out more about it in just
- 11:30Speaker 2: a moment. Now back to the case of the salesman
- 11:39Speaker 2: of Death. Today's adventure with Nick Carter brought to you
- 11:42Speaker 2: by new post war old Dutch cleanser. It is the
- 11:46Speaker 2: morning after the mysterious death of Missus Benjamin Gordon. Nick
- 11:49Speaker 2: and Patsy at the office are trying to puzzle out
- 11:51Speaker 2: the truth of the case.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Nick, could Ramer have had anything to do with Missus
- 11:57Speaker 5: Gordon's death or was it just one of those horrible
- 12:00Speaker 5: coincidences that she fell down the stairs?
- 12:02Speaker 3: The answer is no to both questions.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Patsy, Well, do you suppose Missus Gordon's nephew and that
- 12:09Speaker 5: mate Annie are lying when they say they saw a
- 12:11Speaker 5: fall down the stairs and that nobody was anywhere nearer?
- 12:14Speaker 3: Well could be so far? Blake Gordon is the only
- 12:17Speaker 3: person we know who hasn't motive.
- 12:19Speaker 10: Yeah, he gets one hundred thousand dollars in the old lady's.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Will and he needs it to get more, except that
- 12:25Speaker 3: the rest of her money goes to charity.
- 12:27Speaker 6: True.
- 12:29Speaker 10: Say, how about that show for Williams Missus Gordon fired
- 12:32Speaker 10: last week?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Well, we're checking on him.
- 12:34Speaker 10: Oh, just the same.
- 12:37Speaker 5: I can't help believing that Rama may have some kind
- 12:40Speaker 5: of strange power.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yes, in the face of it, Rama's powers are very convincing.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Only I am not convinced.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Well, yesterday he said his client was going to order
- 12:49Speaker 5: another death prayer, and if somebody else dies now then
- 12:53Speaker 5: we'll know Rama's on the level.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I hope we can see too it that no one
- 12:56Speaker 3: else does die. Maddie's gonna let me know if he
- 12:58Speaker 3: gets a report from anybody. Who Nick, Hey, what the
- 13:01Speaker 3: devil is the matter? Mary? Come on, Nick, I got
- 13:03Speaker 3: a squad car outside. Just had a phone call from
- 13:05Speaker 3: all Hiram Worth. That devil Ramas started praying him to death.
- 13:10Speaker 6: He's one of the richest men in the city.
- 13:11Speaker 3: May I better for him first?
- 13:13Speaker 4: Oh for the lover of heaven?
- 13:14Speaker 3: Why to tell him around the way and wanted to
- 13:15Speaker 3: be careful. I want to take a minute, okay, but
- 13:17Speaker 3: make it fast. Not Rama. Guys probably praying for him
- 13:19Speaker 3: to die right this moment. Yeah, I am hello, Hello,
- 13:25Speaker 3: I'd like to speak to mister Worth. Please. I'm sorry,
- 13:28Speaker 3: but that is impossible. But this is Nick Carter speaking.
- 13:30Speaker 12: I'm sorry, mister Carter, but mister Worth cannot come to
- 13:34Speaker 12: the phone. And he died five minutes ago.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Look, yah, you say that after mister Worth read that
- 13:50Speaker 3: letter from the High Priest Rama, he phoned Sergeant Matheson
- 13:52Speaker 3: and then stayed in his library with you on guard
- 13:54Speaker 3: outside that right, yes, sir, And no one came near him.
- 13:56Speaker 3: No sir, not to soul.
- 13:58Speaker 12: Mister Worth was very much upset it reading about the
- 14:01Speaker 12: death of Missus Gordon and he was taking no chances.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Did he know Missus Gordon?
- 14:05Speaker 4: Oh, yes, sir.
- 14:06Speaker 12: The two of them founded the East Bay Boys Club.
- 14:09Speaker 12: Mister Worth was chairman of the board of governors and Missus.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Gordon was treasurer. I see.
- 14:15Speaker 12: In fact, they had an appointment to meet only today
- 14:17Speaker 12: to look into its affairs. They were very disturbed about something.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yeah, well that's got nothing to do with the fact
- 14:24Speaker 3: that they got killed. Now's and that's a fast That's
- 14:26Speaker 3: a fast man on this East Bay Boys Club. Seems
- 14:29Speaker 3: to be a link between Worth and Missus Gordon. They
- 14:31Speaker 3: want a genuine like we found for sure. But Lennis
- 14:33Speaker 3: Master's had deaths must be tied together somehow. Maybe it's
- 14:36Speaker 3: through this boys Club. I don't see how they could
- 14:38Speaker 3: be nick i yet but yibs, yes, sir. You didn't
- 14:43Speaker 3: leave the house for a single minute.
- 14:44Speaker 12: Just long enough to slip outdoors and mail a letter
- 14:47Speaker 12: for mister Worth.
- 14:49Speaker 3: But I wasn't gone more than a minute or so.
- 14:51Speaker 3: What was the letter you mailed? Well this morning?
- 14:54Speaker 12: Along with the letter from this drama person, mister Worth
- 14:58Speaker 12: also received a letter from a mister Smith in Raleigh,
- 15:01Speaker 12: North Carolina, offering to sell him a rare early American
- 15:04Speaker 12: glass bowl at a very good price.
- 15:07Speaker 10: Mister Worth is.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Was very keen on early American glassware, so I've heard
- 15:14Speaker 3: go on please Well, he'd been searching for just such
- 15:18Speaker 3: a ball for years.
- 15:19Speaker 12: In fact, only last month he wrote Missus Gordon, who
- 15:22Speaker 12: also collects glassware, asking her to sell in the bowl
- 15:26Speaker 12: she owns. She refused, So you see, he was delighted
- 15:30Speaker 12: to learn that one was for sale. And while he
- 15:33Speaker 12: was waiting for you, he made out his check seed
- 15:36Speaker 12: in the self addressed envelope. Mister Smith enclosed and sent me.
- 15:40Speaker 9: Out to post it immediately, at which you did.
- 15:42Speaker 12: And when I returned, mister Worth was perfectly all right.
- 15:46Speaker 12: But five minutes later he cried out. I rushed in
- 15:51Speaker 12: there he was slumped across his desk.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yips. I'd like to say the envelope, the letter from
- 15:57Speaker 3: this mister Smith, arrived in.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Thought to be right here.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Yes, yes, Mattie, look at this return addresses Raleigh, North Carolina.
- 16:10Speaker 3: This envelope was postmark right here in the city. It yes,
- 16:14Speaker 3: matter very deadly for me, unless I miss my guess
- 16:16Speaker 3: whatever killed Hiram Worth is in the US mail and
- 16:19Speaker 3: we can't get it back.
- 16:31Speaker 6: Hi, Betsy, well you look pleased with yourself.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I am last time making some progress, such as what
- 16:38Speaker 3: discovered that the finances of the Bay Boys Club are
- 16:40Speaker 3: in bad shape?
- 16:41Speaker 6: Really?
- 16:41Speaker 3: Yes, ma'am. And my guess about Hiram Worth's death has
- 16:44Speaker 3: been proved correct.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Huh.
- 16:45Speaker 3: He was killed by poisoned usilage and the flap of
- 16:48Speaker 3: that letter he sealed just before he died.
- 16:49Speaker 10: But Nick, how did you get hold of that letter?
- 16:51Speaker 3: Fortunately, Hiram Worth was a very methodical man. He put
- 16:54Speaker 3: his return address on the envelope when he sealed it,
- 16:57Speaker 3: so when.
- 16:57Speaker 5: The post office couldn't deliver it back to the faked
- 17:00Speaker 5: dress written on it, it came right back here, right.
- 17:03Speaker 3: And an analysis showed that there was enough poison in
- 17:05Speaker 3: the mutulage and the flat to kill three men.
- 17:07Speaker 10: Yeah, but who sent a letter, Nick Rama?
- 17:10Speaker 3: I'd guess the man who hired Rama didn't trust Rama's
- 17:13Speaker 3: powers any more than I do, and decided to help
- 17:15Speaker 3: them out a little.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Uh.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Have you any idea who.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Is logically only one person could have done it all?
- 17:21Speaker 10: But logic isn't proof, Oh, it isn't.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I haven't any proof yet, and that means we'll have
- 17:26Speaker 3: to make him trap himself.
- 17:28Speaker 10: Trap himself.
- 17:29Speaker 3: How I have a plan in mind, pretty elaborate, but
- 17:32Speaker 3: if it works, we'll be able to wash the whole
- 17:34Speaker 3: case up tonight.
- 17:35Speaker 6: Oh that'll be sweat.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And as I first stepped Patsy, We're going to call
- 17:38Speaker 3: on mister High priest Ramah.
- 17:55Speaker 4: It is mister cut and his attractive the system.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Please to the templar thought, thank you.
- 18:04Speaker 6: What's that wreckage you're playing?
- 18:07Speaker 8: It is the ritual drum, which signals the unseen power
- 18:10Speaker 8: that I command, the powers of death.
- 18:14Speaker 6: You mean you're praying somebody else to death?
- 18:16Speaker 3: Now?
- 18:16Speaker 8: It is so this morning my new plan wrote in closing,
- 18:20Speaker 8: still a third or.
- 18:22Speaker 3: And now we ask you this new victim is to
- 18:24Speaker 3: be you.
- 18:24Speaker 8: May Indeed, I were just about to inform you the
- 18:28Speaker 8: drums of death, mister Cutter are beating for you.
- 18:39Speaker 4: So now Nick himself is to be prayed to death.
- 18:42Speaker 2: And when the High Priest Rama begins his strange spell,
- 18:45Speaker 2: something fatal always happens. We'll find out how Nick evades
- 18:48Speaker 2: the deadly faith that has already overtaken at least two victims.
- 18:51Speaker 4: In just a.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Minute, and now for the conclusion of the case of
- 19:00Speaker 2: the Salesman of Death. Today's Nick Carter Adventure brought to
- 19:04Speaker 2: you by new post war old Dutch cleanser. It is evening,
- 19:08Speaker 2: and at Nick's request, everyone connected with the case, including
- 19:11Speaker 2: Sergeant Mathieson, has gathered at the Temple of Thought.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Uneasily.
- 19:15Speaker 2: They sit in a circle in the dimly lighted room,
- 19:17Speaker 2: while Rama, the mysterious High Priest, stands aloof in flowing
- 19:21Speaker 2: robes and a fantastic turban.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Quiet everyone, please, quiet, please. I know you're all wondering
- 19:30Speaker 3: why I've asked you to come here. The answer is
- 19:34Speaker 3: that one of you is responsible for the deaths of
- 19:36Speaker 3: Missus Gordon and mister Worth. Rama's help. We're going to
- 19:41Speaker 3: punish that person.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Before we begin.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I want to be sure you're all here of your
- 19:47Speaker 3: own free will. First. Missus Gordon's nephew, Blake Gordon. Why
- 19:51Speaker 3: dome its Carter. I haven't been so intrigued in years.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Missus Garden's maid Annie, I.
- 19:57Speaker 6: Said I'd come, and I'm here. I don't life his
- 19:59Speaker 6: playing It scares me.
- 20:01Speaker 3: We won't belong. Annie Albert Farmer, Missus Gordon's secretary.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I'm here voluntarily, mister Carter, glad to help out.
- 20:08Speaker 3: If I can't. And Gibbs mister Worth's ballot. I'm here
- 20:11Speaker 3: because you asked me, mister Carter.
- 20:13Speaker 12: I don't like it, but if it will help avenge
- 20:15Speaker 12: mister Worth's death, I'll stay.
- 20:17Speaker 3: And last Williams, miss Is Gordon's farmer chauffeur. Sure, I'm
- 20:21Speaker 3: here my own free will. I shut off my mouth
- 20:24Speaker 3: when the old lady fired me, but I never touched
- 20:25Speaker 3: the old battle axe. I'm here to see I ain't frayed.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Then we can get going. One person here tonight, use
- 20:32Speaker 3: the strange and mysterious powers of Rama to bring death
- 20:34Speaker 3: to two people. It's only simple justice that we should
- 20:38Speaker 3: use Rama's mystic powers to bring punishment to that person. Oh,
- 20:42Speaker 3: it seems cannot be touched by the law. Hey look, Nick, silence,
- 20:47Speaker 3: Please Rama, Rama, that's your service again, the prayer of
- 20:52Speaker 3: punishment for the one who paid you to bring death
- 20:54Speaker 3: to missus Gordon and mister Worth.
- 20:56Speaker 8: Rama will invoke the Inchantar deal by fire yours for
- 21:00Speaker 8: ten times ten thousand years to make the guilty known
- 21:04Speaker 8: to his fellows. Slowly the blood in the guilty one's
- 21:07Speaker 8: veins will come to a boil.
- 21:09Speaker 3: He will feel his skin on fire.
- 21:11Speaker 8: Heath will envelop him, and if he does not speak,
- 21:14Speaker 8: he will die screaming in mad milk.
- 21:17Speaker 4: You can't be serious about this, mister Carter, really know
- 21:20Speaker 4: that sounds absurd.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Next the love of praise everyone, I'm perfectly serious, as
- 21:25Speaker 3: the guilty person will discover. When the incantation begins to work,
- 21:29Speaker 3: rama begin all.
- 21:32Speaker 13: Mighty powers, beyond the gnawing of mere mottles. Your servant
- 21:37Speaker 13: calls down your deal by fire upon the one who
- 21:41Speaker 13: has willed the guests of others.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I begin the first drum of the fire ritual. Ye,
- 22:04Speaker 3: I'm enjoying the music, but nothing seems to be happening.
- 22:06Speaker 6: I'm afraid. I want to go home.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Hey, you gotta let me out of here.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Those drums are given me the willies, mister.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Carton, and I can't stand it.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Much longer than I can silence everyone.
- 22:15Speaker 4: This is all just a trick of some kind. Stop
- 22:17Speaker 4: those drums and let us out of here.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Why, mister Farmer, you're perspiring badly, your face is flushed,
- 22:21Speaker 3: you're feeling too warm.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Oh, oh, of course not so.
- 22:25Speaker 3: You're trying some kind of trick and I've had enough.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Stop those drums, I said, Rama, stop the drums, turn
- 22:30Speaker 3: on the lights, Rama here, then no bees. But the
- 22:33Speaker 3: spell cannot be stopped. Mister Farmer, Your face is streaming
- 22:37Speaker 3: with perspiration. Your skin is as red as fire. You
- 22:40Speaker 3: sure you don't feel uncomfortably warm?
- 22:43Speaker 9: What if I do?
- 22:44Speaker 3: You can't fool me.
- 22:44Speaker 4: You're up to some hopeless cocus pocus.
- 22:46Speaker 3: I you poison me.
- 22:47Speaker 4: You're trying to pin this whole thing on me, but
- 22:49Speaker 4: you can't do it.
- 22:49Speaker 3: You haven't had a thing to eat, a drink since
- 22:51Speaker 3: you came here. You haven't been poisoned.
- 22:53Speaker 4: You've turned the heat on in here. You're all of
- 22:55Speaker 4: some kind of a plus.
- 22:56Speaker 3: No one else is suffering from the heat now, mister Farmer,
- 22:59Speaker 3: rama spell was working and nothing can stop it, nothing
- 23:02Speaker 3: but a confession by the guilty person lying.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Ram is just a fake. I looked him up. I
- 23:06Speaker 4: know just how big a fake he is.
- 23:07Speaker 3: And why do you feel as if you were on fire?
- 23:09Speaker 3: Your skin is burning hot? That proves rama spells are
- 23:12Speaker 3: no trickering. No, I've used Drama to fool you all
- 23:14Speaker 3: from the beginning, but you can't use him to fool me.
- 23:16Speaker 4: I won't be tricked into confession.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I won't be, but you have confessed Farmer. Okay, Maddie
- 23:22Speaker 3: put the handcuffs on him. Now listen, Nick, I won
- 23:36Speaker 3: a few facts out of you, and so do I. Facts. Well,
- 23:39Speaker 3: you both heard Albert Farmer's confession after he realized he'd
- 23:42Speaker 3: given himself away. And you know how he killed Missus Gordon. Yeah, yeah, sure.
- 23:45Speaker 3: He hid behind the draperies at the head of the stairs,
- 23:47Speaker 3: and which he got within a couple of steps to
- 23:49Speaker 3: the top. He jabbed the end of his cane against
- 23:51Speaker 3: her solar plexes as hard as he could. She fell
- 23:54Speaker 3: head over heels down the stairs and broken neck.
- 23:57Speaker 10: Uh huh.
- 23:57Speaker 5: And she was in such a position that her nephew
- 23:59Speaker 5: and they who were downstairs couldn't see the caves.
- 24:02Speaker 6: That's what made it look like an accident.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Okay, that's that. And you already know how Farmer killed
- 24:06Speaker 3: Worth with a poison envelope, and you also know the
- 24:08Speaker 3: motive behind both murders. We sure Albert said they were
- 24:11Speaker 3: going to investigate the affairs of the East Bay Boys Club.
- 24:14Speaker 10: Yeah, but what did he have to do with the
- 24:16Speaker 10: boys club.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I think for a minute, Missus Garden was treasurer of
- 24:19Speaker 3: the charity. Okay, But would a woman as old as
- 24:22Speaker 3: Missus Gordon do the actual work herself?
- 24:24Speaker 6: Huh? Why? Of course not.
- 24:26Speaker 5: She'd give a job to someone else, and the natural
- 24:29Speaker 5: person for her to pick would be her secretary.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Then Albert handle all the money she and Worth contributed, right,
- 24:36Speaker 3: and he managed to steal about thirty thousand dollars, as
- 24:39Speaker 3: I discovered by checking the books.
- 24:41Speaker 5: Ye, but Nick, why were you so sure Albert was
- 24:44Speaker 5: guilty because of that fake letter to mister Worth.
- 24:46Speaker 3: It had to be sent by someone who knew Worth
- 24:48Speaker 3: wanted a bull such as the one described in the letter,
- 24:50Speaker 3: and also knew he wanted it so badly he'd be
- 24:52Speaker 3: sure to answer by return mail. Yeah, I see what
- 24:55Speaker 3: you mean.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Gibbs.
- 24:56Speaker 3: You remember told us Worth had written Missus Gordon asking
- 24:59Speaker 3: her to sell him the antique bullshield. Uh huh, So
- 25:02Speaker 3: she knew he wanted a ball. Gibbs knew it, Worth
- 25:04Speaker 3: knew it, and the person who handled Missus Gordon's correspondence
- 25:08Speaker 3: knew it.
- 25:08Speaker 10: In other words, Albert Farmer.
- 25:10Speaker 3: But that still wasn't proof. That's why I had to
- 25:13Speaker 3: use an elaborate psychological third degree on Albert in order
- 25:15Speaker 3: to trick him into confessing. He used Rama to confuse us,
- 25:19Speaker 3: So I used Rama to confuse him.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Well, then, Nick, does Rama really have any supernatural powers?
- 25:25Speaker 3: Of course not, Alfred was simply using him for camouflage.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Rama's just a clever faker who thought up this death
- 25:32Speaker 3: prayer racket about a year ago.
- 25:33Speaker 10: But if Rama's a fake, what happened to Albert there tonight?
- 25:37Speaker 3: That Betsy was psychology, not magic psychology? Sure, Albert Farmer
- 25:42Speaker 3: came to the Temple of Thought feeling he could bluff
- 25:44Speaker 3: his way through anything that happened, but fear finally caught
- 25:47Speaker 3: up with him. You mean that even though he knew
- 25:49Speaker 3: Rama was a phony, he started to think, all that
- 25:52Speaker 3: incantation will only might work maybe in any case, Farmer
- 25:56Speaker 3: began to feel trapped. He got uneasy, nervous, his blood
- 25:58Speaker 3: pressure went.
- 25:59Speaker 6: Up, and then when you started to give him the
- 26:01Speaker 6: business and.
- 26:01Speaker 3: The heat was really a he couldn't take it any longer,
- 26:04Speaker 3: broke out nicole sweat and then made a slip. After that,
- 26:06Speaker 3: Getting a confession out of him was duck soup. Nick,
- 26:09Speaker 3: I got the hand it to you. You sure figured
- 26:11Speaker 3: out a new way of turning the heat on a killer.

- 28:01Speaker 1: Welcome back. I don't know what to say about the
- 28:04Speaker 1: solution to this one, but apparently Nick Carter's operating on
- 28:09Speaker 1: the guilty conscience theory. However, it does work out effectively.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Back when we started Nick Carter, I mentioned that Nick
- 28:17Speaker 1: Carter had serialized versions that aired during nineteen forty three
- 28:26Speaker 1: before it returned to the original format of the half
- 28:32Speaker 1: hour programs. Well, when we first started the show, none
- 28:36Speaker 1: of these were available. However, since that time, several of
- 28:41Speaker 1: these serialized episodes have become available. However, most with fragments
- 28:46Speaker 1: that you really can't tell a complete story. However, one
- 28:50Speaker 1: of these stories has got a significant enough portion of
- 28:53Speaker 1: their episodes available that we're actually going to go ahead
- 28:58Speaker 1: and bring it to you. So over the next two
- 29:00Speaker 1: weeks we will be heading back into wartime Nick Carter
- 29:04Speaker 1: as we bring you parts one and two, and three
- 29:07Speaker 1: and six of a six part Nick Carter serial, and
- 29:11Speaker 1: so be planning on hearing that the next couple of
- 29:14Speaker 1: weeks tomorrow. Of course, it's yours truly, Johnny Dollar in
