- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, I'm here with Luna. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey, Lucas, we've been talking about winter nights a lot lately. The moon was so beautiful in our last episode. Lucas: It was. And tonight, I thought we'd take a little walk outside and just look up. The sky is supposed to be really clear. Luna: Oh, I love that. A clear winter night is my favorite. Let's do it. Lucas: So, let's start with something simple. When you look up, you say 'guardo le stelle'. It means 'I look at the stars'. Luna: Guardo le stelle. Lucas: Perfect. Now, let's say it together. Guardo le stelle. Luna: Guardo le stelle. Lucas: Good. Now, what do the stars do? They shine. So we say 'le stelle brillano' – the stars shine. Luna: Le stelle brillano. Lucas: Yes. And tonight, they really are brillando. Le stelle brillano. Luna: Le stelle brillano. I can see them shining. Lucas: And the moon is full tonight. We say 'la luna è piena'. Luna: La luna è piena. Lucas: Exactly. La luna è piena. And it's so bright. Luna: It is. La luna è piena. I love saying that. Lucas: Now, when everything feels peaceful, you might say 'che notte serena' – what a serene night. Luna: Che notte serena. Lucas: That's it. Che notte serena. It really is one. Luna: Che notte serena. So calm. Lucas: And the sky is clear. We say 'il cielo è sereno'. Luna: Il cielo è sereno. Lucas: Perfect. Il cielo è sereno. No clouds at all. Luna: Il cielo è sereno. I can see so many stars. Lucas: Let's put them all together. Imagine we're standing here, looking up. I might say: 'Guardo le stelle. Le stelle brillano. La luna è piena.' Luna: Guardo le stelle. Le stelle brillano. La luna è piena. Che notte serena. Lucas: Beautiful. And then you add: 'Il cielo è sereno.' Luna: Il cielo è sereno. It's like a poem. Lucas: It is. And you just said it all naturally. Luna: I did. I'm so happy. Let's do it again. Guardo le stelle, le stelle brillano, la luna è piena. Lucas: Yes, and che notte serena, il cielo è sereno. Luna: Che notte serena, il cielo è sereno. Perfect. Lucas: You know, Luna, this episode is a little special. It's episode 222, and we've been doing this for a while. Luna: I know. I remember when we were just learning 'buongiorno' and now we're describing the night sky. Lucas: And it's all possible because of our listeners. If Fexingo has been helping you make real progress with Italian, and you want to keep it going, a tiny monthly contribution through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo really does make a difference. Luna: Yeah, it's a small group of people who keep this whole thing ad-free, and we're so grateful. Lucas: Honestly, we couldn't do this without them. But anyway, let's get back to our beautiful night sky. Luna: Yes, let's. So we can say 'che notte serena' when it's calm, and 'il cielo è sereno' when it's clear. Lucas: Exactly. And tonight, both are true. Il cielo è sereno, and che notte serena. Luna: It's so nice to just stop and look up. Guardo le stelle. Lucas: And remember, le stelle brillano, and la luna è piena. You just described this whole scene in Italian. Luna: I did. It's amazing. I feel like I can really talk about the stars now. Lucas: Then let's practice one more time. Repeat after me: guardo le stelle. Luna: Guardo le stelle. Lucas: Le stelle brillano. Luna: Le stelle brillano. Lucas: La luna è piena. Luna: La luna è piena. Lucas: Che notte serena. Luna: Che notte serena. Lucas: Il cielo è sereno. Luna: Il cielo è sereno. Lucas: Perfect. Now you can step outside on any clear winter night and describe what you see. Luna: And dream in Italian, too. Lucas: That's right. Practice these phrases until we chat again. Arrivederci, everyone. Luna: Arrivederci, and che notte serena.
