- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to Positively three hundred and sixty five, a podcast
- 0:06Speaker 1: by Joe wattis we wish to entertain, instruct and motivate.
- 0:10Speaker 1: If nothing else, hopefully we can entertain and inspire you
- 0:14Speaker 1: to live a more positive life three hundred and sixty
- 0:16Speaker 1: five days a year. We hope you enjoy this message.
- 0:21Speaker 2: A seventy year old woman chose to remain overnight in
- 0:25Speaker 2: a costly hotel as a treat for her birthday. The
- 0:29Speaker 2: following morning, she was appalled when the desk clerk gave
- 0:33Speaker 2: her a bill for two hundred and fifty dollars. She
- 0:36Speaker 2: requested to know why the charge was that high. It's
- 0:41Speaker 2: a nice hotel, but the rooms certainly aren't worth two
- 0:45Speaker 2: hundred fifty dollars just for an overnight's day. I didn't
- 0:49Speaker 2: even have breakfast, she told the clerk. The clerk clarified
- 0:53Speaker 2: that two hundred fifty dollars is the standard rate. At
- 0:58Speaker 2: that point, the older lady insisted on talking with the manager.
- 1:04Speaker 2: The manager showed up and explained that the hotel has
- 1:08Speaker 2: an Olympic sized swimming pool and a huge conference center
- 1:12Speaker 2: which are available for use, but I didn't use them.
- 1:17Speaker 2: The old woman said, well, they are here, and you
- 1:22Speaker 2: could have, he replied. The manager continued and said that
- 1:27Speaker 2: she could likewise have watched one of the in hotel
- 1:31Speaker 2: shows for which the hotel is famous. We have the
- 1:35Speaker 2: best entertainers from all over the world performing here, he
- 1:39Speaker 2: said proudly. But I didn't go to any of those shows,
- 1:43Speaker 2: she said. The manager replied, well, we have them, and
- 1:48Speaker 2: you could have, regardless of all the hotel amenities, he recommended.
- 1:55Speaker 2: The older lady would just answer, but I didn't use it.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Manager then countered with his standard reaction. After several minutes
- 2:05Speaker 2: of contending with him, she chose to pay. The manager
- 2:10Speaker 2: was shocked when she gave the check to him. But madam,
- 2:15Speaker 2: this check is only for fifty dollars, he said. That's right.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I charged you two hundred dollars for sleeping with me.
- 2:24Speaker 2: The old lady replied, but I didn't. The manager shouted, well,
- 2:31Speaker 2: too bad. I was here and you could have. The
- 2:46Speaker 2: key to a positive life is gratitude. This attitude allows
- 2:52Speaker 2: us to truly make the most of each day. When
- 2:55Speaker 2: we live in gratitude, we can keep things in the
- 2:59Speaker 2: proper personerspective. We will talk about this in this week's
- 3:03Speaker 2: episode of Positively three sixty five. But first we have
- 3:08Speaker 2: our trivia question of the day. Are you ready for it?
- 3:11Speaker 2: Here it is which country is both a continent and
- 3:17Speaker 2: a country? We will have the answer when we come back.

- 3:57Speaker 3: Your support means the world to us. It helps keep
- 4:01Speaker 3: growing the content. Thanks for tuning in, and now back
- 4:06Speaker 3: to the show.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Do you know? Do you know the answer to this
- 4:23Speaker 2: week's trivia question? The question was which country is both
- 4:29Speaker 2: a continent and a country? The answer Australia. Australia is
- 4:36Speaker 2: unique in that it is the only country that occupies
- 4:40Speaker 2: an entire continent, known for its diverse landscapes, ranging from
- 4:45Speaker 2: deserts and rainforests to mountains and coral reefs. It is
- 4:51Speaker 2: both a sovereign country and the world's smallest continent. This
- 4:57Speaker 2: makes Australia one of the only places where a single
- 5:01Speaker 2: nation covers an entire continental mass. Now you know Gratitude
- 5:21Speaker 2: is essential for happiness because it shifts our focus from
- 5:26Speaker 2: what we lack to what we have. By acknowledging the
- 5:31Speaker 2: positive aspects of our lives, we become more aware of
- 5:35Speaker 2: the everyday blessings that often go unnoticed, like good health, relationships,
- 5:42Speaker 2: or simple joys. This mindset of appreciation reduces stress, enhances relationships,
- 5:49Speaker 2: and increases feelings of contentment and fulfillment. Gratitude also builds resilience,
- 5:57Speaker 2: helping us see value in life's challenges by focusing on
- 6:01Speaker 2: growth rather than setbacks. Ultimately, gratitude enriches our perspective, making
- 6:09Speaker 2: us more present and joyful in the moment. The famous
- 6:26Speaker 2: Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sonata once said this, There are those
- 6:33Speaker 2: who want a swimming pool in their home, while those
- 6:37Speaker 2: who have it barely use it. Those who have lost
- 6:42Speaker 2: a loved one miss them deeply, while others who hold
- 6:47Speaker 2: them close often complain about them. Who doesn't have a
- 6:52Speaker 2: partner longs for it, but who has it sometimes doesn't
- 6:58Speaker 2: value it. Who is hungry would give anything for a
- 7:02Speaker 2: plate of food, while he who has plenty complains about
- 7:07Speaker 2: the taste. The one who doesn't have a car dreams
- 7:11Speaker 2: of it, while the one who has it always looks
- 7:15Speaker 2: for a better one. The key is to be grateful,
- 7:20Speaker 2: to stop looking at what we have, and to understand
- 7:24Speaker 2: that somewhere someone would give everything for what you already
- 7:29Speaker 2: have and don't appreciate.
