- 0:00Speaker 1: You know what, I want to talk Travis Hunter playing
- 0:04Speaker 1: both ways, but I also kind of want to do.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It in the video.
- 0:07Speaker 1: So, but what do you think of this trait?
- 0:08Speaker 3: Going up?
- 0:09Speaker 1: Is Travis in your mind one of those guys you
- 0:11Speaker 1: should go up.
- 0:11Speaker 2: And gets like I mean, depending on what you need.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I see that fact as if Jackson and Jaguars. I
- 0:17Speaker 2: can see that happen because the fact that they do
- 0:19Speaker 2: need a corner and they do them someone to help alongside.
- 0:22Speaker 2: You know, they received their drafted last year in first round.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So you think, though, what do you think about playing
- 0:25Speaker 1: both ways in the NFL?
- 0:27Speaker 2: It could be tough. You know what I'm saying. He
- 0:28Speaker 2: say that his body can do it, and you know
- 0:31Speaker 2: he's training his body to do it. So I just say,
- 0:33Speaker 2: if you do it, you gotta be locked.
- 0:35Speaker 1: In it physical? Is it mental?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Like?
- 0:37Speaker 4: What about?
- 0:37Speaker 1: Because because what I hear about you guys have to
- 0:40Speaker 1: put it in compared to college is crazy way much
- 0:42Speaker 1: in stalls and plays.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Way way much more. Just the process that means for him,
- 0:48Speaker 2: he got to be in two meetings and you know
- 0:51Speaker 2: there's no splitting thing half and half. You know, it's
- 0:53Speaker 2: hard to do half and half. Like I played the
- 0:56Speaker 2: offensive side of the ball, probably like two reps. And
- 0:58Speaker 2: you know, I came in up, but that little rep
- 1:00Speaker 2: they told me, and that was it. Now he got
- 1:02Speaker 2: to learn the whole player hole.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Pa.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Dan, don't do it on
- 1:04Speaker 2: the other side. Do the same thing for defense. So, uh,
- 1:07Speaker 2: that's gonna be the task. You know, if he could
- 1:09Speaker 2: be mentally challenged and mentally ready to have that kind
- 1:11Speaker 2: of going on, because it can be.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Difficult, very interesting. So they go out there. They'd signed
- 1:16Speaker 1: your guy Jordan Lewis in the offseason to do one
- 1:19Speaker 1: cornerback spot. You bring up very astute lee. They also
- 1:22Speaker 1: signed Diami Brown, so now it's Diammy Brown, Brian Thomas,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and Travis Hunter. The thought of going both ways, I
- 1:31Speaker 1: just think.
- 1:31Speaker 4: It's utterly impossible in the league, you know what I mean.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Like you're like, it's just hard for you to say
- 1:37Speaker 4: you're gonna line up against Jamar Chase, Ceede Lamb, Justin
- 1:39Speaker 4: Jefferson even for the fake go routes, and then even
- 1:43Speaker 4: for the ones you actually have to guard them. And
- 1:45Speaker 4: these are not guys that you like, oh, I'm gonna
- 1:46Speaker 4: just pass the so oft slay, know, like You're staying
- 1:49Speaker 4: on them every step of the way. You just can't
- 1:51Speaker 4: give up that breath and then say, I'm gonna go
- 1:53Speaker 4: play at four series of offense and who knows it
- 1:54Speaker 4: can be two minutes, It could be four minute situation,
- 1:58Speaker 4: you know.
- 1:58Speaker 3: What I mean.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I just don't see that as possible. And then I
- 2:02Speaker 4: think for the Jags, Travis Hunter has to turn out.
- 2:05Speaker 4: He has to. This is a team that hasn't been, like,
- 2:09Speaker 4: hasn't been an elite team, utterly barely making playoffs.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Has them playoffs a few years ago where they lost
- 2:16Speaker 1: that like heartbreak Chargers.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Like it just it just they just have like he
- 2:21Speaker 4: has to be the guy because you know, to trade up,
- 2:24Speaker 4: you give your next year's first, you give him some
- 2:26Speaker 4: draft cable this year, and you don't say, well, we
- 2:30Speaker 4: don't know where's he going to play, you know what
- 2:32Speaker 4: I mean, Because you're not drafting a complete lockdown corner
- 2:35Speaker 4: and you're not drafting a complete developed receiver as some
- 2:38Speaker 4: of the other guys in this draft. So you got
- 2:40Speaker 4: to say, well, we have to really coach this guy,
- 2:42Speaker 4: like and we have to develop him. Why he's with
- 2:45Speaker 4: us in camp and all that. So you know, I
- 2:47Speaker 4: really like I think this is elite talent. This is
- 2:49Speaker 4: the pick.
- 2:50Speaker 3: But where are.
- 2:51Speaker 4: You going to play him and where you're going to
- 2:53Speaker 4: develop him that so he can be worth this pick.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And it is official. The pick is in the Jacksonville
- 2:59Speaker 1: Jaguars have selected the Heisman Trophy winner and the dual
- 3:03Speaker 1: threat demon that is Travis Hunter is the official pick. Wow.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It is a new era of Jacksonville Jaguars football, a
- 3:13Speaker 1: new GM in James Gladstone, who's like thirty five years old.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Liam Cohen is the coach and this is the new
- 3:20Speaker 1: face for that regime. Two time All American Heisman Trophy
- 3:24Speaker 1: winner won the Bednarik, the Blitnikoff, the Lot and the
- 3:28Speaker 1: Paul Horning. He had ninety six catches, he had four interceptions,
- 3:33Speaker 1: and Travis Hunter is now the pick. Renner, what do
- 3:37Speaker 1: you think about moving up and grabbing him guy for the.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Jet It's new GM, James Gladstone. He came over from
- 3:42Speaker 3: the Los Angeles Rams. Right. Their whole route to the
- 3:45Speaker 3: Super Bowl was stars and scrubs. Right, this is a star.
- 3:49Speaker 3: You know, this is what you move up for to
- 3:51Speaker 3: get a force, multiplayer type of guy. He has. For
- 3:54Speaker 3: my money, I've been new it's a decade. The best
- 3:56Speaker 3: ball skills of any guy I've scout. The way he
- 3:58Speaker 3: attacks the football in the air is true special. He's
- 4:00Speaker 3: got long arms, he's got incredible body control, just his
- 4:03Speaker 3: ability to make plays all.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Over the football field.
- 4:08Speaker 3: And the thing is when you watch his tape, you
- 4:09Speaker 3: just have to keep in mind that he's on snap
- 4:12Speaker 3: like ninety six this game right like he he has
- 4:14Speaker 3: not had a break, So you have to couch every
- 4:16Speaker 3: play that you know, if he got to actually focus
- 4:18Speaker 3: on one position or focus or be you know, not
- 4:22Speaker 3: winded for every rep, what's it going to look like?
- 4:24Speaker 3: Because it was already special. He already won the you know,
- 4:27Speaker 3: the Blitnikoff and the Bed and Erik for best Wide.
- 4:30Speaker 3: She ran Best TV in college football. So I think
- 4:33Speaker 3: wide receivers where I'm playing on one because they get
- 4:35Speaker 3: paid a lot more money than cornerbacks. Unfortunately too, because well,
- 4:40Speaker 3: if you got a guy with that kind of ball skills,
- 4:42Speaker 3: I'd rather have him seen one hundred and fifty targets
- 4:44Speaker 3: a year than seventy five targets a year playing like this.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I copped into Derek Stingley because Stingley's got incredible ball
- 4:51Speaker 3: skills for a corner. Stingley actually moonlighted at LSU and
- 4:54Speaker 3: the spring at wide receiver wanted to play. They never
- 4:57Speaker 3: ended up letting him play. They're on the offense side
- 4:59Speaker 3: of the ball. But that's the kind of like frame
- 5:01Speaker 3: that you're talking about. This long rangeye can attack the
- 5:05Speaker 3: football in the air like a monster. My thought is offense,
- 5:09Speaker 3: and then maybe like red zone. He comes in a
- 5:11Speaker 3: red zone because you're not running as far there. He
- 5:13Speaker 3: can come into those packages. If you're gonna go both
- 5:16Speaker 3: ways or vice versa defense on offense, come in the
- 5:19Speaker 3: red zones. But honestly, I'm not putting a lot past
- 5:24Speaker 3: this guy with what he did Pleedgi. The level being
- 5:26Speaker 3: so unprecedented. That's why you go up and get him
- 5:28Speaker 3: a number two.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And I'm imagining the great is high.
- 5:30Speaker 3: This is this is an a for me. I mean,
- 5:33Speaker 3: even though it's costing a lot for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 5:36Speaker 3: This is now Brian Thomas Junior, Travis Hunter, Trevor Lawrence.
- 5:40Speaker 3: You haven't made the playoffs for three years, right, You're
- 5:42Speaker 3: gonna make a lot of playoffs with that.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Trio slay when you watched him. Let's talk mainly as
- 5:47Speaker 1: a dB. What did you think from him as a dB?
- 5:50Speaker 2: Like I said, he got elite ball skills and you
- 5:53Speaker 2: can see that from the film. He's basically playing the
- 5:55Speaker 2: office side of the ball. He great footwork, you know,
- 5:58Speaker 2: as he continued to keep working to go get better.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You know, I feel as if he do dial in
- 6:01Speaker 2: on one position, especially whatever position that is.
- 6:04Speaker 1: What do you think it is? What would you tell
- 6:06Speaker 1: him to play?
- 6:07Speaker 2: I mean, if you're a money guy v receiver, if
- 6:10Speaker 2: you know, if you want to uh.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Well, when you watch him as a wide receiver and
- 6:13Speaker 1: you thought about covering them and then you watch him
- 6:14Speaker 1: as a corner and you thought about mentoring them, which
- 6:16Speaker 1: one did you think had more potential? Corner for sure,
- 6:20Speaker 1: corner has more potential.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, because it just you know, corners just
- 6:23Speaker 2: don't follow trees. You know, corners are very unique. And
- 6:26Speaker 2: he's got a great gift as in beble to have
- 6:28Speaker 2: great ball skills. That's why a lot of corners play corner.
- 6:30Speaker 2: You know, we played receiver in high school. But then
- 6:32Speaker 2: you transition to college, you can't catch that good and
- 6:35Speaker 2: uh And what's the biggest transition that people don't understand?
- 6:37Speaker 2: What's hard from college to the league is to strike
- 6:39Speaker 2: around the ball. You know, you can't track it and
- 6:42Speaker 2: uh oh really yeah, it's hard to track that ball
- 6:44Speaker 2: without the strike, you know. And in the NFL, is
- 6:46Speaker 2: is just a ball. And uh so with him having
- 6:49Speaker 2: the ball skill he has, I think that's will be
- 6:50Speaker 2: a great transition for the dB and uh I think
- 6:53Speaker 2: he'd be doing a lot better at dB.
- 6:54Speaker 4: What do we think, michah Hey, Like I said, for
- 6:57Speaker 4: the elite talent and the player that he is, it's
- 7:00Speaker 4: a great pick. Understand where he's going to play and
- 7:04Speaker 4: he has to be a guy. That's where question is.
- 7:07Speaker 4: You know, the demand something nothing's ever been done before.
- 7:10Speaker 4: I think that's why we like history. This is something
- 7:12Speaker 4: that's never been done before. If he does it, amen,
- 7:16Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 7:16Speaker 1: But it sounds like you're a little wary.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I am.
- 7:20Speaker 4: I am, because I mean I did think at the like,
- 7:24Speaker 4: at these picks, these top three picks. You know, people
- 7:27Speaker 4: like to gamble on history, like oh we found the
- 7:30Speaker 4: one unicorn, this is the one. But at these picks
- 7:34Speaker 4: I like them for sure as I know this guy
- 7:36Speaker 4: is gonna play this position. I know he's has these
- 7:39Speaker 4: attributes and you know, obviously he has this great boss kills.
- 7:42Speaker 4: But you know, the question is, like, you know, is
- 7:45Speaker 4: he that premier dB or is he that premier receiver?
- 7:49Speaker 3: Right?
- 7:49Speaker 4: And that's where we all don't know, because like Grennard said,
- 7:52Speaker 4: he he might be on this play at ninety six.
- 7:55Speaker 4: You know, where's it? Where's it going to look?
- 7:57Speaker 1: Like what you guys said was so true though. Could
- 7:59Speaker 1: you imagine end of the game he's playing defense and
- 8:01Speaker 1: the team just goes, hey, throw his guy on a
- 8:02Speaker 1: go to tire him out for the next Yeah, that's
- 8:05Speaker 1: the worst. I've also heard someone say to me recently,
- 8:07Speaker 1: what if he played wide receiver and like a free
- 8:09Speaker 1: safety to use those ball skills to like another let
- 8:13Speaker 1: him just hawk out there instead of playing man and
- 8:16Speaker 1: man covering guys the entire time. But render, it's a
- 8:19Speaker 1: congratulations to you way.
- 8:20Speaker 4: To call that.
- 8:21Speaker 3: That's cool. James Gladstone now GM thirty four years old.
- 8:26Speaker 3: He is younger than I am. And this guy making
- 8:28Speaker 3: a play like that, I respect it. Like, if you're
- 8:31Speaker 3: a Jags fan, this is fun. Like you have been
- 8:35Speaker 3: a laughing stock. And you know, for as much as
- 8:38Speaker 3: Cincinnati didn't make the playoffs last year and then recently,
- 8:40Speaker 3: like when you have T Higgins, Jamar Chase, Joe Burrow,
- 8:42Speaker 3: like it's fun to be a so right now, it's
- 8:45Speaker 3: fun to be a Jacksonville Jaguars fan. Don't know if
- 8:47Speaker 3: it's gonna be a super Bowl, but it's gonna be fun.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Bring some people in the stands for sure, a lot
- 8:50Speaker 2: of keys, yes, all right,
