- 0:22Speaker 1: Matt Flynn.
- 0:30Speaker 5: Welcome in a Thursday edition of Off the Bench.
- 0:34Speaker 6: How we doing out there?
- 0:35Speaker 5: Taylor Sharp here with the affiliate end for Jacob Hester
- 0:38Speaker 5: and Matt Flynn.
- 0:39Speaker 6: We got today, we got tomorrow. We are here with
- 0:41Speaker 6: you all week long.
- 0:42Speaker 5: Jake and Matt will be back on Monday at Landra Villa.
- 0:46Speaker 5: Reale and Cassie Spizzelli This morning, she decided to wake
- 0:50Speaker 5: up early for us one day and hang out with
- 0:53Speaker 5: us year guys.
- 0:55Speaker 6: How we do? How we do in this morning?
- 0:58Speaker 7: Oh good, Cassie.
- 1:00Speaker 8: It always makes me laugh when we're both doing Hunt
- 1:02Speaker 8: show because he's like, that's a lot of vowels back there.
- 1:05Speaker 7: It is, he says it every time.
- 1:06Speaker 6: That is a lot of owls.
- 1:08Speaker 5: I mean, I have a five letter last name, so
- 1:10Speaker 5: everything's a lot of owls for me.
- 1:12Speaker 6: But uh, Cassie, how we.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Doing I'm all right. I'm struggling with the yawns here.
- 1:18Speaker 2: It's a little early.
- 1:19Speaker 5: I saw you walking down the hallway and I'm like, Cassie,
- 1:21Speaker 5: we got to wake this thing up.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I've already on at least five times before the start
- 1:24Speaker 2: of the show. It's it's rough, but we're hanging in here.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I'm good, I'll be fine.
- 1:28Speaker 7: He'll be low energy back here. The eyes are feeling
- 1:31Speaker 7: real heavy too.
- 1:32Speaker 6: You were at the box yesterday.
- 1:34Speaker 7: I did go to the bar.
- 1:34Speaker 6: How did that?
- 1:35Speaker 9: Goya?
- 1:35Speaker 6: It was good?
- 1:36Speaker 7: I mean it was fun.
- 1:37Speaker 6: Okay, big crop. You got a Landra got her.
- 1:40Speaker 8: Run rules for Oh my gosh, I did how about that?
- 1:43Speaker 6: I was watching the game be very specific, I know,
- 1:45Speaker 6: and then in the.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Eighth inning, John Pearson hits it and I'm like, there's
- 1:50Speaker 5: the run rule.
- 1:51Speaker 6: Two years in the making. We got the.
- 1:55Speaker 5: We got the L shoe run rule over Nichols. We'll
- 1:58Speaker 5: talk about that in a little bit.
- 2:00Speaker 7: I'm just gonna start speaking things into existence.
- 2:02Speaker 5: And now, you know you have to be specific. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 5: Like you can't just be like, oh I want this, No,
- 2:07Speaker 5: I mean we got to have.
- 2:08Speaker 8: To say I need L s U Baseball to run
- 2:11Speaker 8: rule Nichols instead of the other way where I said,
- 2:15Speaker 8: I think I just said, like.
- 2:18Speaker 7: So then Nichols run ruled this last season.
- 2:22Speaker 9: Yeah, not LS.
- 2:23Speaker 6: She's fine as well.
- 2:24Speaker 5: You know what, though, I think y LSU had a
- 2:25Speaker 5: pretty decent ending to their season last year.
- 2:28Speaker 6: I don't think they cared too much about that.
- 2:30Speaker 7: LSU baseball will go back to back this season. Okay,
- 2:34Speaker 7: I like that, I'm doing it.
- 2:36Speaker 5: I like that you specified team. You specified this season.
- 2:41Speaker 5: If anything screws up, it's not on you.
- 2:43Speaker 7: So no, it's not. I was very specific.
- 2:45Speaker 5: That you're you're good on that as I'm a little
- 2:49Speaker 5: fired up this morning. Luke Combs is opening a brand
- 2:53Speaker 5: new bar. Let's go so that one's already opened. Uh,
- 2:58Speaker 5: we visited that one back in November. This one's coming
- 3:03Speaker 5: to Orlando at the City Walk, right outside of Universal Studios.
- 3:06Speaker 5: And for those who don't know, my family likes to
- 3:09Speaker 5: frequent Universal. Yeah, now that's probably going to change in
- 3:13Speaker 5: the near future. We'll probably have to wait a few
- 3:15Speaker 5: years before we go back. But uh yeah, yeah isn't.
- 3:20Speaker 2: He also coming out with a new album.
- 3:23Speaker 5: No So a single came out last Friday. Yeah, it's
- 3:26Speaker 5: called be by You. Everybody go listen, dude, it's great.
- 3:28Speaker 6: God. I should be Luke Comb's pr guy, you know,
- 3:31Speaker 6: I mean, I really should.
- 3:32Speaker 5: I should get some sort of like give me some
- 3:34Speaker 5: sort of royalties from this. Uh No, And then is
- 3:38Speaker 5: the whole album comes out like the middle of March.
- 3:40Speaker 5: But so he's opening the category ten. First off, if
- 3:44Speaker 5: you're going too Nashville, go to Category ten.
- 3:46Speaker 6: It's it's the best one.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Like I I had loved Jason Alden's bar for a
- 3:52Speaker 5: number of years.
- 3:52Speaker 6: I thought that was the best one. I visited the
- 3:54Speaker 6: new Gorth Brooks bar, I visited the new Eric Church bar,
- 3:58Speaker 6: I visited Lucombes. This Category ten by far the best one.
- 4:01Speaker 7: Maybe you're just a barfly.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to Nashville this summer and I want
- 4:05Speaker 2: to go to all the bars.
- 4:06Speaker 5: So it sucked for Victoria because I was like, I
- 4:12Speaker 5: love Luke Coms, I love air Church.
- 4:13Speaker 6: Like, oh no, we got to go to the bars.
- 4:14Speaker 6: But luckily, like they said, launched.
- 4:16Speaker 5: During the day, so we wound up just eating at
- 4:17Speaker 5: one of them. Yeah, but I had to go into
- 4:20Speaker 5: all of them. And this was two weeks after Victoria
- 4:24Speaker 5: found out she was pregnant.
- 4:25Speaker 6: So I mean it not a whole lot she could do.
- 4:29Speaker 5: She kind of just tagged along and cheered me one,
- 4:32Speaker 5: so probably not the best experience for her. But yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 5: so this thing is gonna be thirty three thousand square feet,
- 4:39Speaker 5: not a small boy. It's gonna be right there in
- 4:41Speaker 5: City Walk. I think the one in Nashville is actually
- 4:44Speaker 5: bigger than that. I could be wrong, but uh yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 5: I'm excited about that. My sister might even be a
- 4:52Speaker 5: bigger Lukecumbs fan than me, which is hard to do.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Which like, me and my sister don't agree on anything
- 5:00Speaker 5: music wise, except we are both big Luke Cums fans.
- 5:03Speaker 5: So maybe I need to reevaluate things like like maybe
- 5:06Speaker 5: that's where I'm at, But uh now I'm excited about it.
- 5:10Speaker 6: He actually has three locations.
- 5:11Speaker 5: He guys went in Vegas too, But I'll you can
- 5:13Speaker 5: bet in twenty twenty seven when this thing opens up,
- 5:16Speaker 5: the Sharp family will be up in that thing. You
- 5:21Speaker 5: guys are gonna like this. Victoria has this this little
- 5:25Speaker 5: app that like tracks how many weeks a long she
- 5:28Speaker 5: is and everything like that. It's a mango as of yesterday, guys,
- 5:33Speaker 5: a mango.
- 5:35Speaker 6: Nineteen.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Well, it gives you a bunch of different categories, so
- 5:38Speaker 5: like it's got like this one's fruit category, your baby's
- 5:41Speaker 5: as big as a mango.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Yeah, and then with snack category.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Your baby is as big as a cheese stick, which
- 5:47Speaker 5: seems significantly smaller to a mango to me. And like
- 5:51Speaker 5: last week it was so it's half a half a pound.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I believe is the weight six inches long? Half
- 6:02Speaker 6: a pound? But so what cheese stick is six inches long?
- 6:05Speaker 7: Huge? The ones that they used to have at walk ons.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a log.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Yes, what's the chilies when they have they're like the rectangles,
- 6:15Speaker 5: those are big.
- 6:15Speaker 6: Two.
- 6:18Speaker 5: It's as big as a cornhole bag, So we love that. Yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 5: we got the Olympics going on, We got a lot
- 6:24Speaker 5: of sports going on. Cornhole bag. How about this one?
- 6:29Speaker 5: It's as big as share cell phone used on Clueless, Cassie.
- 6:33Speaker 6: Clueless was a movie.
- 6:34Speaker 7: That came out Clueless.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Okay, So I was picking on you a little bit
- 6:38Speaker 5: the other day, Yeah, asking Braxton if he had seen
- 6:41Speaker 5: Billy Madison because like his last names in the movie,
- 6:43Speaker 5: and I said, okay, I told him, like, thank you
- 6:46Speaker 5: for seeing Billy Madison, because Cassie has seen.
- 6:49Speaker 2: No movie I was even born yet you were like.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Seven years old.
- 6:56Speaker 7: I don't think any of us were.
- 6:57Speaker 5: I would and I was a year away. I was
- 6:59Speaker 5: born in ninety six. But I mean, I've seen a
- 7:01Speaker 5: lot of random movies. But the giant cell phone that
- 7:04Speaker 5: she used in the nineteen ninety three movie Clueless, Yeah,
- 7:08Speaker 5: it's as big as it's as big as the cell phone.
- 7:10Speaker 6: So that that's pretty cool.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Found out Victoria can actually hear or feel when the
- 7:17Speaker 5: baby hiccups. That's cool, it's cool, but that's also kind
- 7:21Speaker 5: of terrifying. Why it's just weird to me, Like something
- 7:25Speaker 5: growing inside of you still is just a foreign concept
- 7:28Speaker 5: to me. Yeah, Victoria's like, yeah, the baby's growing like
- 7:31Speaker 5: eyelashes and fingernails. I'm like, that's inside of you. Yeah,
- 7:34Speaker 5: I think about that's just I don't Apparently they were.
- 7:38Speaker 5: They were picking on me on the way back to
- 7:40Speaker 5: the Senior Bowl, saying I'm in for a rude awakening.
- 7:42Speaker 5: But uh, I mean yeah, Like she gives me updates
- 7:45Speaker 5: so she finds out how far along she is every Wednesday,
- 7:50Speaker 5: and this was the latest update. And last week they
- 7:53Speaker 5: said the baby was the size of a pickle. Again,
- 7:58Speaker 5: mingo doesn't seem bigger than a pickle.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like a pickle is bigger than like
- 8:03Speaker 2: a cheese stick.
- 8:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't. It may have to do with weight.
- 8:07Speaker 5: I mean, I guess the pickle doesn't weigh that much
- 8:09Speaker 5: like a mingo's probably bigger.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I like aile weighs more than a cheese stick.
- 8:15Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying. Like a cornhole bag, how much
- 8:17Speaker 6: does a cornhole bag? Way?
- 8:19Speaker 5: I don't know, but you're telling me a mango and
- 8:21Speaker 5: a cornhole bag way the same. I don't see it,
- 8:24Speaker 5: but yeah, that's where we're at. Where the size of
- 8:27Speaker 5: SHARE's cell phone with the size of a cornhole bag,
- 8:29Speaker 5: a cheese stick, not the giant walk on cheese sticks,
- 8:32Speaker 5: the small cheese sticks, and a mango. So we are
- 8:36Speaker 5: rolling right along nineteen weeks as of yesterday. We got
- 8:41Speaker 5: a lot to cover here on today's show. I mean,
- 8:44Speaker 5: we had a baseball game yesterday. Lundra spoke it into existence.
- 8:48Speaker 5: The right team got the run rule Lsu versus Nichols.
- 8:52Speaker 5: It was the one o'clock game yesterday in alec box.
- 8:54Speaker 5: We will break that down. We got Bill Bender of
- 8:57Speaker 5: the Sporting News coming on. Bill put out his entire
- 9:00Speaker 5: your sixty eighteen bracket for March Madness.
- 9:03Speaker 6: March Madness is just around the corner, so we'll shake
- 9:05Speaker 6: it up a little bit.
- 9:06Speaker 5: We'll talk to Bill about that spoiler alier, guys, Lsu
- 9:09Speaker 5: not in that round of sixty eight number we just missed,
- 9:12Speaker 5: just missed it. I mean one more sec win that
- 9:14Speaker 5: probably would have done it. But we'll talk to Bill
- 9:17Speaker 5: about all of that. We will do our big dealer,
- 9:20Speaker 5: no big deal at nine am.
- 9:23Speaker 6: We'll bring that back for a little bit.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Munchie's chef Michael Johnson, he's coming on and Matt Flynn
- 9:28Speaker 5: will be so proud of me. We might even do
- 9:30Speaker 5: a little little Olympic update for you guys. Kind of
- 9:32Speaker 5: excited about that. And Paul Fine bomb of all people
- 9:37Speaker 5: giving Lane Kiff and his flowers yesterday, which if Paul
- 9:41Speaker 5: Fine bombs doing that, I assume anything as possible. So
- 9:44Speaker 5: we'll discuss that a little bit as well. Again, a
- 9:47Speaker 5: ton to get to or the Saints in the market
- 9:49Speaker 5: for a running back. We're breaking it all down, so
- 9:53Speaker 5: we'll cut a little bit early here because we got
- 9:55Speaker 5: a lot of baseball to get to. We'll actually break
- 9:57Speaker 5: down Lsu versus Nichols next here on off the bench,
- 10:02Speaker 5: off the bench.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Go to Valley's Vendor's Casino and hotel, the brand new
- 10:07Speaker 3: star of downtown Baton Rouge. It is brand new and
- 10:11Speaker 3: sure like the outside of the building somewhat might be
- 10:14Speaker 3: the same. That's the only thing that is the same.
- 10:16Speaker 3: When you walk in, you'll be blown away. They have
- 10:19Speaker 3: got Vegas style gaming all over the place right when
- 10:23Speaker 3: you walk in. On the casino floor, they've got new
- 10:25Speaker 3: slot machines. They have got a brand new drafting sportsbook
- 10:29Speaker 3: with an incredible bar that butts up to this biggest
- 10:32Speaker 3: TV I think you've ever seen in your life. They've
- 10:35Speaker 3: got a brand new hotel. Every room got an upgrade.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Everything got an upgrade.
- 10:40Speaker 9: Go check it out.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Valley's of a Bantereries casino in hotel.
- 10:42Speaker 9: That's right, it is Friday. It is the weekend.
- 10:46Speaker 10: If you're looking for something to do, if you're in
- 10:47Speaker 10: Baton Roies, the Banteries area, looking for something to do
- 10:50Speaker 10: with your friends, with your spouse, whatever it is little
- 10:54Speaker 10: date night, go to Valley's of Batteraries Vendaries. You got
- 10:56Speaker 10: an upgrade, twenty five thousand square foot gaming facility, beautiful
- 10:58Speaker 10: hotel and restaurants right their valleys of bedrooms some breeze blokes,
- 11:05Speaker 10: share Jersey your fevers with me again, kisses or do
- 11:09Speaker 10: you have a send off hole?
- 11:11Speaker 2: Do you know.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Gow tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Are we are so fired up to be back with
- 11:30Speaker 4: rejuve me and reju.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Medical dot com. Several locations cross for Louisiana, give me
- 11:39Speaker 3: bat Rouge right there on Bluebone and Jefferson. You've got
- 11:41Speaker 3: also the Blue Bony in Highland. You've got Preyville Mederie
- 11:44Speaker 3: Slidel Covens and homer S Report Monroe, Charles Lafayette. Also
- 11:48Speaker 3: you've got some locations there in Mississippi and they have
- 11:51Speaker 3: been the leader in h r T right hormone replacement therapy,
- 11:56Speaker 3: helping you regain that energy, that boost that you once had,
- 12:00Speaker 3: getting back to feeling like your normal self.
- 12:02Speaker 9: Go see them today.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Averjuve me Medical dot comice right, yeah, Kami.
- 12:06Speaker 9: Like Grubik's come.
- 12:07Speaker 10: Maybe kind of a little wiry if you're not feeling
- 12:09Speaker 10: fiery anymore as a man. If you get a little
- 12:11Speaker 10: bit older, you got that hormones, they start getting out
- 12:14Speaker 10: of whack a little bit. Well go there, get a
- 12:16Speaker 10: get a medical, get a panel, get a blood panel,

- 12:21Speaker 10: Maybe it's not, but if there is, they are the
- 12:23Speaker 10: leader in Louisiana for over ten years at hormone replacement therapy.
- 12:26Speaker 9: Go check them out. Rejuven me jubi memedical dot com.
- 12:33Speaker 5: All right, welcome back in Thursday edition of OTB. Taylor
- 12:36Speaker 5: Sharp Here with you filling in for Jacob Esher and
- 12:39Speaker 5: Matt Flann Here in the Raisin Canes Studio. You'r LSU
- 12:43Speaker 5: Tigers to call on the Nickels State Colonels yesterday at
- 12:46Speaker 5: alex Baik Stadium. We're about to break it all down.
- 12:48Speaker 5: But before we do that, let's go ahead and get
- 12:51Speaker 5: this show started.
- 12:52Speaker 1: It's time to get glowing courtesy of go Flow ivy Spa,
- 12:56Speaker 1: where hydration vitamins and a summer ready glow are always
- 13:00Speaker 1: on tap.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Now for starters, all right, the Tigers take down the
- 13:07Speaker 5: Colonel's twelve to one yesterday afternoon at Alec Box Stadium.
- 13:11Speaker 5: The scoring went like this. Nichols actually comes out swinging.
- 13:15Speaker 5: They get a solo home run in the first inning,
- 13:17Speaker 5: and things looked a little bit dicey for the Tigers.
- 13:19Speaker 6: However, LSU was able to get out of it.
- 13:22Speaker 5: With limited damage one nothing deficit going into the bottom
- 13:26Speaker 5: of the first inning, and LSU played it a five
- 13:29Speaker 5: spot in that bottom of the first inning home run
- 13:34Speaker 5: by Trent Carraway a grand slam in that first inning
- 13:37Speaker 5: to really bust the doors wide open there for the Tigers,
- 13:41Speaker 5: and things kind of remain steady at that six to
- 13:44Speaker 5: nothing Mark LSU scores one in the bottom of the second,
- 13:47Speaker 5: doesn't score again till the sixth inning. They add two more,
- 13:51Speaker 5: making it eight to eight to one, and then a
- 13:55Speaker 5: one run in the seventh inning, and then a three
- 13:58Speaker 5: run spot in the eighth which the game early it
- 14:01Speaker 5: was it was John Pearson.
- 14:04Speaker 6: The game ended in the bottom of the eighth. He
- 14:06Speaker 6: unloaded a three run home run.
- 14:08Speaker 5: It gave the Tigers an eleven run advantage in the
- 14:10Speaker 5: eighth inning, and that's all she wrote. The Tigers victorious
- 14:14Speaker 5: twelve to one inside Alec Box Stadium. A lot of
- 14:18Speaker 5: things to like in this game. Jake Brown, He's now
- 14:21Speaker 5: batting five hundred on the season. He went two for
- 14:24Speaker 5: five yesterday. He had a double, two RBIs scored a run.
- 14:28Speaker 5: Jake Brown continues to just see the ball so well,
- 14:30Speaker 5: he's tearing the cover off of it. Steven Milom. He
- 14:34Speaker 5: bounced back after an up and down opening weekend.
- 14:37Speaker 3: He was.
- 14:39Speaker 5: He was one for three, but he scored two runs.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Trink Carraway I mentioned him a Grand Slam. He had
- 14:46Speaker 5: four RBI on that game, one for three. Tanner Reeves
- 14:51Speaker 5: hit at the plate. He's Tanta Reeves is hitting four
- 14:54Speaker 5: hundred on the season. Honestly, he just doesn't look comfortable
- 14:58Speaker 5: out there in left field. I know he's out there
- 15:00Speaker 5: due to the injury right now to Chris Stanfield, but
- 15:04Speaker 5: Jay clearly wants his bat in the lineup because there's options.
- 15:08Speaker 6: We talked about it. Yesterday.
- 15:09Speaker 5: You had a chance to see Daniel Harden coming up
- 15:12Speaker 5: from community college. He had a great year last year
- 15:15Speaker 5: at the JUCO level.
- 15:17Speaker 6: He was coming up.
- 15:18Speaker 5: We didn't see a ton of him, and we saw
- 15:20Speaker 5: him a little bit. But I mean, Mason Brawn's another guy.
- 15:25Speaker 5: He DHD yesterday. We didn't see him in the outfield,
- 15:27Speaker 5: we didn't see him in the infield. Clearly, Jay wants
- 15:30Speaker 5: Tanner Reeves his bat in the lineup. He put him
- 15:32Speaker 5: out there at left field, and you know he misplayed
- 15:35Speaker 5: a ball in the second inning. No run scored off
- 15:39Speaker 5: of it, but he just he just doesn't look comfortable
- 15:44Speaker 5: out there in left field. We'll see, we'll see if
- 15:46Speaker 5: something changes, you know, before Stanfield gets out. Hopefully Stanfield
- 15:50Speaker 5: not out for a tremendous amount of time. But yeah,
- 15:53Speaker 5: Tana Reeves just doesn't look comfortable out there at left field.
- 15:56Speaker 5: I think he's much more of an infielder. But he's
- 15:58Speaker 5: seeing the ball well. Again, he's hitting. Was he four
- 16:00Speaker 5: hundred on the season right now, So I understand wanting
- 16:04Speaker 5: that bat in the lineup right now. In non conference play,
- 16:08Speaker 5: the bullpen was excellent in this game. Dax's Day, Dax, Dothy,
- 16:14Speaker 5: Zion Theopolis, Santiago Garcia, Reagan Ricken. They combined for most
- 16:21Speaker 5: of this game and did not give up a hit. Now,
- 16:25Speaker 5: they combined for five walks. You gotta clean that up
- 16:28Speaker 5: a little bit, but it resulted in no runs, and guys,
- 16:31Speaker 5: theres a hole this bullpen. Seven k's no runs between
- 16:36Speaker 5: the four relievers. Again, gotta clean up the walks a
- 16:39Speaker 5: little bit, but you gotta be really happy with what
- 16:42Speaker 5: you saw from the bullpen. I just laid out what
- 16:45Speaker 5: we saw in the batting lineup. I really liked what
- 16:50Speaker 5: I saw from a Santiago Garcia. I thought that was
- 16:53Speaker 5: a good bounce back spot. I mean, Garcia goes in there,
- 16:55Speaker 5: he throws an inn and now he walks two batters,
- 16:57Speaker 5: but he gets two strikeouts. It does not give up
- 17:00Speaker 5: a single hit. Able to get out of that inning.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Reagan Ricken goes to the final three in this game,
- 17:05Speaker 5: and this was his first outing as a Tiger. He's
- 17:07Speaker 5: a guy we highlighted yesterday him and theopolis of You'll
- 17:11Speaker 5: probably see these guys because you didn't see him in
- 17:13Speaker 5: the opening weekend. Reagan Ricken three innings, two strikeouts, no walks,
- 17:19Speaker 5: no hits. That's about as good as you're gonna get.
- 17:22Speaker 5: I mean, I thought he was nails at the back
- 17:25Speaker 5: end of that bullpen. That's something you can build off of. Again,
- 17:28Speaker 5: I mentioned Santiago Garcia. He had the two walks, but
- 17:30Speaker 5: he had a big time bouncing back performance. Dax Dothy,
- 17:34Speaker 5: he comes in in a spotty situation. He goes an
- 17:36Speaker 5: inning in a third phase, four batters, struck out two
- 17:39Speaker 5: of them, did not give up a hit. Zion theophilis
- 17:45Speaker 5: an inning and a third phase, four batters, got a strikeout,
- 17:49Speaker 5: did walk three guys. He had a little bit of
- 17:51Speaker 5: control issues, but again he was able to get out
- 17:53Speaker 5: of it without a hit and without giving up any runs.
- 17:56Speaker 6: There was a ton to like in this ballgame.
- 18:00Speaker 5: A confusing part to me was you didn't see Connor Binge,
- 18:04Speaker 5: which you'll see Connor Binge at some point.
- 18:06Speaker 6: You saw him last year. I think he had sixteen
- 18:08Speaker 6: outings a year ago.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Jay Johnson kind of knows what he's got and Connor
- 18:11Speaker 5: Binge still know Danny lock and Meyer.
- 18:13Speaker 6: Did not see Danny lock and Meyer at all.
- 18:15Speaker 5: And I actually thought there was a chance that Cooper
- 18:17Speaker 5: Williams could have started this game. He threw two innings
- 18:20Speaker 5: over the weekend. And you know, whether it's Cason Evans,
- 18:23Speaker 5: whether it's a William Schmidt, you don't know if that
- 18:25Speaker 5: weekend rotation is set in stone, and a lot of
- 18:29Speaker 5: times Jay does like to put that left handed arm
- 18:31Speaker 5: in that weekend rotation. Cooper Williams probably the best candidate
- 18:35Speaker 5: as far as lefties to become a starter on the weekend.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Thought we might see him, you know, maybe two.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Innings kind of the opener if you will not even
- 18:43Speaker 5: necessarily a starter that's going to go four to five innings,
- 18:46Speaker 5: because you'll probably still use him on the weekend.
- 18:48Speaker 6: But we did not see Cooper Williams there.
- 18:51Speaker 5: That tells me, as of right now, they're kind of
- 18:53Speaker 5: comfortable with where they are in that weekend rotation, at
- 18:56Speaker 5: least for the time being. I would not expect any
- 18:58Speaker 5: changes over the weekend, and we're still going to see
- 19:01Speaker 5: Cooper Williams probably early this weekend, probably tomorrow if I
- 19:06Speaker 5: had to guess.
- 19:06Speaker 6: But really good outing by the bullpen. The not so good.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Zach Cowen with another another rough outing an inning and
- 19:18Speaker 5: a third, gave up three hits, gave up a run
- 19:22Speaker 5: which was just a bomb of a home run early
- 19:25Speaker 5: in that first inning. He only walked one batter, but
- 19:28Speaker 5: again an inning and a third, two strikeouts, face nine batters,
- 19:31Speaker 5: gave up three hits, gave up a run, had thirty
- 19:34Speaker 5: four pitches in an inning and a third. I don't
- 19:39Speaker 5: know what you do with Zach Cowen now, because me
- 19:42Speaker 5: Anda Landra talked about a little bit yesterday, we were
- 19:44Speaker 5: cool with seeing Cowen for an inning or in Santiago
- 19:47Speaker 5: Garcia to kind of get their confidence back, because really,
- 19:50Speaker 5: out of all the relief pitchers you saw over the weekend,
- 19:53Speaker 5: it was Cowen and Garcia that did not perform up
- 19:55Speaker 5: to their standard. Which Garcia was a big time transfer
- 19:58Speaker 5: from Oregon. We knew it's zat Cowen did a year ago.
- 20:01Speaker 5: You weren't super concerned with him, but you would have
- 20:03Speaker 5: liked to have seen him get back in the right direction.
- 20:05Speaker 5: I thought, Santiago Garcia did that again. Two walks in
- 20:08Speaker 5: an inning. You gotta clean that up a little bit,
- 20:10Speaker 5: but struck out two, didn't give up a hit, no
- 20:13Speaker 5: runs across the plate. You're happy with that for the
- 20:15Speaker 5: most part. I would call that a bounce back performance
- 20:17Speaker 5: for the most part. Zach Cowen, though, he gets the
- 20:21Speaker 5: start in this game, which came as a little bit
- 20:23Speaker 5: of a surprise to me. But he goes an inning
- 20:26Speaker 5: in a third and I mean, yeah, he gave up
- 20:29Speaker 5: You're gonna say, Okay, he gave up one run.
- 20:32Speaker 6: I understand that. But he just never looked comfortable out there.
- 20:36Speaker 5: And yes, there was a slight fielding error on trend
- 20:39Speaker 5: Carraway's part to kind of extend that first inning a
- 20:42Speaker 5: little bit. However, Caroway would make up for it in
- 20:44Speaker 5: the bottom of the first inning with that grand slam shot.
- 20:46Speaker 5: But elandra I'll throw this one to you. Is it
- 20:53Speaker 5: is it time to be concerned with Zach Cowen.
- 20:57Speaker 8: Yes, only because you kind of saw it toward the
- 21:01Speaker 8: end of last season, right, like he did really well
- 21:03Speaker 8: versus Arkansas. But before that, I think it was like
- 21:07Speaker 8: during the SEC Championship versus or maybe even during the
- 21:10Speaker 8: Texas A and M series, like it just started to
- 21:14Speaker 8: kind of like lose a little bit.
- 21:16Speaker 7: Of the control and maybe be a little concerned about it.
- 21:20Speaker 7: But I don't know.
- 21:22Speaker 8: I mean, I guess just try to get him some
- 21:23Speaker 8: reps out there. I mean, we know he has it, right,
- 21:27Speaker 8: Maybe the am I going to come out the pen?
- 21:31Speaker 8: Am I going to start? Am I going to close?
- 21:33Speaker 8: Thing might have been a bit of a like a
- 21:36Speaker 8: mental thing for him because I know it's different for pictures,
- 21:40Speaker 8: like if they know they're going to start, if they
- 21:42Speaker 8: know they're going to come out the pen, it's different
- 21:44Speaker 8: for them. So maybe it was a little bit of
- 21:46Speaker 8: that and kind of still is that, like you still
- 21:49Speaker 8: don't really know where he's gonna be, but maybe just
- 21:52Speaker 8: a little bit of concern for Zach Cowen.
- 21:54Speaker 7: But we know he has it.
- 21:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm glad you mentioned that it was it was
- 21:58Speaker 6: kind of like I guess it was like halfway through
- 21:59Speaker 6: the season, was it Oklahoma was it A and m was.
- 22:03Speaker 5: It was one of those and where you know, he
- 22:05Speaker 5: kind of got touched up a little bit. He almost
- 22:07Speaker 5: wasn't the same after that. Like you mentioned, he was
- 22:09Speaker 5: great against Arkansas, which you needed that, but SEC tournament
- 22:12Speaker 5: and then even when you got to Omaha, like Cason,
- 22:15Speaker 5: Evans was the one that emerged. I mean that was
- 22:18Speaker 5: that was his coming out party. It was it was
- 22:19Speaker 5: Evans the freshman that you went to over Zach Cowen.
- 22:23Speaker 5: And yeah, you could say it's two outings, it's non conference,
- 22:27Speaker 5: I get it, but it's everything she just laid out.
- 22:29Speaker 5: It's not two out it's the back half of last
- 22:32Speaker 5: season or the back part of last season, less than
- 22:35Speaker 5: half the season, but translating into this season, that's not good.
- 22:41Speaker 5: You You would have liked the veteran like Zach Cowen
- 22:43Speaker 5: to put that behind him, and I think he can.
- 22:46Speaker 6: He's a good pitcher.
- 22:47Speaker 5: We saw him last year and he was nails as
- 22:49Speaker 5: your closer for the first half of last year. I
- 22:52Speaker 5: mean he was one of the most dominant guys in
- 22:53Speaker 5: the SEC. So you know the potentials there and like
- 22:57Speaker 5: she just said, get him out there, continue to get
- 22:59Speaker 5: him reps. This is the non conference, you should have
- 23:02Speaker 5: an advantage over everybody you play, and guess what, your
- 23:04Speaker 5: team's gonna score a lot of runs if these first
- 23:07Speaker 5: five games or any indication. So there's a chance to
- 23:10Speaker 5: go out there, let him work through things, hopefully it
- 23:13Speaker 5: doesn't hurt you too much, and get him going in
- 23:15Speaker 5: the right direction before SEC play starts.
- 23:18Speaker 6: I like Zach cow and you know it's there. You've
- 23:22Speaker 6: seen it.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Like, we're not even basing anything off of potential. He's done,
- 23:25Speaker 5: been out there and actually done it again. He gets
- 23:29Speaker 5: to start yesterday, he doesn't even make it out of
- 23:31Speaker 5: the second inning, and it's not what you wanted to
- 23:33Speaker 5: see as far as they bounce back performance. However, the
- 23:36Speaker 5: rest of the team really solid. Davey Theopolis, Garcia Ricken.
- 23:40Speaker 5: The four relief pitchers combined for seven strikeouts, no hits, obviously,
- 23:47Speaker 5: no runs given up. So really solid job there from
- 23:50Speaker 5: the Tigers bullpen. All right, we're going to take a
- 23:53Speaker 5: quick time out when we get back. CBS Sports put
- 23:56Speaker 5: out teams they believe could have the most explosive offense
- 24:00Speaker 5: next year in college football. I'll lets you obviously makes
- 24:03Speaker 5: the list. They're a little bit lower than you might think. However,
- 24:07Speaker 5: there's one reason for it, and I think it makes
- 24:09Speaker 5: a lot of sense. So we'll break all that down
- 24:11Speaker 5: next here on off the bench.
- 24:16Speaker 3: All right, So you heard Flynn the other day. I
- 24:18Speaker 3: mean he loves do Sequis. You know that we hear
- 24:22Speaker 3: on the OTV team love do Sequis. It is the
- 24:25Speaker 3: perfect beer for any occasion. Lake beer, beach beer, shower beer,
- 24:31Speaker 3: bath beer, you name it, beer like ballpark beer.
- 24:35Speaker 4: It is the go to, and we've said it, We're
- 24:38Speaker 4: going to continue to say it.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Whether you're tailgating outside of Tiger Stadium, watching the Saints
- 24:42Speaker 3: on a Sunday, or just kicking back with your crew.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Dose Sekis brings that bowl flavor and smooth finish that
- 24:49Speaker 3: turns ordinary into legendary.
- 24:52Speaker 4: It's not just beer.
- 24:53Speaker 3: It is the beer of champions, or at least the
- 24:55Speaker 3: beer of guys who feel like champions. But you will
- 24:58Speaker 3: feel like a champion when you you enjoy an ice
- 25:01Speaker 3: cold do Sekis. So you don't have to be a champion,
- 25:03Speaker 3: because Dosekis will make you a champion. So the next
- 25:06Speaker 3: time you're watching the game, gravit do Sekis and remember
- 25:09Speaker 3: stay thirsty.
- 25:10Speaker 4: My friends.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Responsibly, of course, do Seki's official beer of Unforgettable sports Moments.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Two thousand and seven Champs Purple and Gold to the Core.
- 25:38Speaker 1: This is off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Matt
- 25:42Speaker 1: and Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana sports.
- 25:47Speaker 3: All Right, go to Rouses dot com, go see our
- 25:49Speaker 3: friends and uh, well, which location do you go see them? Att, Well,
- 25:52Speaker 3: you gotta find out. You got to go to the
- 25:54Speaker 3: website and see which one is nearest you. And then
- 25:56Speaker 3: once you find that out, we always talk about him. Man,
- 25:59Speaker 3: They've got incredible deals going on at your local store,
- 26:02Speaker 3: and you're gonna be able to see them in that
- 26:04Speaker 3: weekly ad right there on the homepage. Now, we always
- 26:07Speaker 3: encourage you go walk in. You'll be blown away, right
- 26:11Speaker 3: when you walk in all the things that make Rouses great.
- 26:13Speaker 3: You're gonna be welcome by Kingcakes and all these things
- 26:16Speaker 3: that are so Louisiana, right, and they are so local
- 26:19Speaker 3: they're gonna have their own stuff there. But when we
- 26:21Speaker 3: say Louisiana, they're in more than just Louisiana. Across the
- 26:24Speaker 3: Gulf coast. We just went to one Inmobile, Alabama a
- 26:27Speaker 3: couple of weeks ago when we were down there for
- 26:29Speaker 3: the senior ball.
- 26:30Speaker 4: So again, find that location that nearest you.
- 26:32Speaker 9: How do you do that?
- 26:33Speaker 4: You go to Rouses dot com.
- 26:35Speaker 10: At roussam get ready for the tailgating weekend, Beaba, do
- 26:38Speaker 10: it local at local grocery store.
- 26:40Speaker 9: Go check out your nearest local Rouses.
- 26:44Speaker 6: All right, welcome back.
- 26:45Speaker 5: In Thursday edition of Off the Bench, Taylor Sharp here
- 26:48Speaker 5: with you, Londra Villaril, Cassie Sizzelli as well inside the
- 26:52Speaker 5: Raising Kines Studio. CBS Sports yesterday put out their prediction
- 26:58Speaker 5: of the top ten offenses going into the twenty twenties
- 27:03Speaker 5: six football season. Run down him a little bit. They
- 27:06Speaker 5: have the Texas long Horns at number one. No surprise there,
- 27:10Speaker 5: I mean you have Arch Manning coming back.
- 27:12Speaker 6: I get it.
- 27:13Speaker 5: There was a lot of hype around Arch and I
- 27:14Speaker 5: was one of the ones pushing back saying, hey, he's
- 27:16Speaker 5: probably gonna struggle a little bit in year one, and
- 27:19Speaker 5: he did. But the back half of last year Arch
- 27:21Speaker 5: was really good. People like the pile on him and say, oh,
- 27:24Speaker 5: you know, he's overrated because he's a Manning. People are
- 27:26Speaker 5: gonna have to accept the fact that Arch Maning is
- 27:28Speaker 5: actually a pretty good quarterback, Believe it or not. It's
- 27:30Speaker 5: hard to play quarterback, and he was a first year
- 27:32Speaker 5: starter in the SEC. Shocker that he struggled through the
- 27:35Speaker 5: first half of the year, but he was good down
- 27:37Speaker 5: the stretch for the long Horns. They had Cam Coleman
- 27:40Speaker 5: number one ride receiver in the portal. You had Hollywood
- 27:42Speaker 5: Smothers and Rayleigh Brown into that backfield, which is good.
- 27:46Speaker 5: I mean, you lose Wisner, you lose CJ. Baxter, like
- 27:50Speaker 5: they were a big part of your running game. You
- 27:52Speaker 5: had some others and ray League Brown. That's huge. Texas
- 27:56Speaker 5: is going to have a good offensive line again. That
- 27:58Speaker 5: one makes a lot of sense to me. There's a
- 28:00Speaker 5: lot of proven there's very little unknown on the Texas offense.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Now they ring Miami number two. I'm not sure about that.
- 28:08Speaker 5: I mean, Darien Mensa's coming in. How good is Darien
- 28:11Speaker 5: Mensa going to be? I mean, was he was good
- 28:13Speaker 5: at Duke. Let's not make the mistake about it. But
- 28:16Speaker 5: we'll see Miami. There's a lot to like, like Malachai
- 28:20Speaker 5: Tony's coming back, you have Shannon Dawson back as the
- 28:22Speaker 5: offensive coordinator. I get all that, but they lose a
- 28:26Speaker 5: little bit as well. I mean, now Mark Fletcher does
- 28:28Speaker 5: come back, which is which is huge for the Hurricanes.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Indiana number three. We broke it down a little bit yesterday,
- 28:33Speaker 5: Josh Hoover stepping in at the quarterback role for Kurt Signetti.
- 28:37Speaker 5: I think the Hoosiers are going to continue to roll
- 28:39Speaker 5: next year. Then your usual suspects, right, Ohio State, Oregon,
- 28:43Speaker 5: Notre Dame, which makes no sense to me.
- 28:45Speaker 6: But it's Notre Dame.
- 28:46Speaker 5: They're gonna be over hyped every year like this is
- 28:48Speaker 5: a team that's losing Jeremiah Love and Jadarian Price.
- 28:52Speaker 6: However, CJ.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Carr does come back ten consecutive wins to finish out
- 28:57Speaker 5: the regular season, so there is a little bit the
- 29:00Speaker 5: build off there. Coming in at number seven. It's your
- 29:04Speaker 5: LSU Tigers, a little ride up on them. They say,
- 29:08Speaker 5: when you assemble the nation's top rank transfer portal class
- 29:11Speaker 5: and commit every available resource to making year one under
- 29:14Speaker 5: lang kid In a success, the expectation is immediate production. Obviously,
- 29:19Speaker 5: they mentioned Sam Levitt coming in at quarterback, the quarterbacks
- 29:22Speaker 5: behind him. They said, the unit that we're most concerned
- 29:28Speaker 5: about right now is the offensive line. We actually projected
- 29:32Speaker 5: as a strength, but there is some unknown that is
- 29:35Speaker 5: totally understandable. Think about how bad this offensive line was
- 29:38Speaker 5: a year ago. You couldn't do anything to run the football.
- 29:42Speaker 5: On my argument's always last year was not the outlier.
- 29:46Speaker 5: I don't think you've been able to run the balls
- 29:48Speaker 5: since Brian Kelly was the head coach. Here, take out
- 29:51Speaker 5: Jaden Daniels. I'm not looking for Jaden Daniels to drop back,
- 29:55Speaker 5: see nothing and just be better and more athletic than
- 29:57Speaker 5: everybody else and take off running.
- 29:59Speaker 6: That is a traditional running game. That is not a
- 30:02Speaker 6: designed run play.
- 30:04Speaker 5: Jayden Daniels was just an alien and he was better
- 30:06Speaker 5: than everybody else. You take Jayden and Daniels out of
- 30:08Speaker 5: there and you look at the traditional running plays. They
- 30:11Speaker 5: really hadn't been able to do that for four years.
- 30:15Speaker 5: That's why Brian That's a big reason why Brian Kelly's gone.
- 30:17Speaker 5: That's why Brad Davis has gone, because he's offensive linemen
- 30:20Speaker 5: never developed in the running game, never got any better.
- 30:23Speaker 5: So sure, it is a huge area of concern coming
- 30:26Speaker 5: into the year, but I do like hell they said
- 30:28Speaker 5: it projects as a position of strength for us because
- 30:32Speaker 5: Elishu did a really good job in the transfer portal.
- 30:36Speaker 5: Just look at some of the transfers Jakwan Sprinkle Jacobe Jones.
- 30:39Speaker 5: Those are two of the lesser talked about guys, just
- 30:41Speaker 5: because Sprinkle comes from NC Central. Jacoby Jones's Kapia Lincoln
- 30:45Speaker 5: Junior College, so they step up a level. But you
- 30:48Speaker 5: got Darren Stray from Kentucky, William Satterwhite center from Tennessee,
- 30:54Speaker 5: Devin Harper, who a lot of people believe is going
- 30:56Speaker 5: to be a starter on this team. I actually have
- 30:57Speaker 5: some questions about Harper, only because I think there's gonna
- 31:00Speaker 5: be a lot of competition for him at gart Sure,
- 31:04Speaker 5: he comes over from Ole Miss, He's played under Lane Kiff,
- 31:07Speaker 5: and he's familiar with the Charlie Weiss offense. He does
- 31:10Speaker 5: have an advantage as far as the learning curve goes.
- 31:12Speaker 5: But there are some guys you've added that they have
- 31:15Speaker 5: some serious playing time experience, like Shawn Tompkins. When you
- 31:18Speaker 5: look at what Sean Tompkins has done in college, there's
- 31:22Speaker 5: a lot to like from him. Now he's going to
- 31:23Speaker 5: be more of a tackle, but he's sixty five, he's
- 31:27Speaker 5: three hundred pounds. Played at Baylor for three seasons. He
- 31:31Speaker 5: was just a three star but when he got there,
- 31:33Speaker 5: But in twenty twenty five, he appeared in ten games,
- 31:37Speaker 5: started the last five of them, and most of them
- 31:41Speaker 5: were were at left tackle. Now, he did play fourteen
- 31:43Speaker 5: snaps of right tackle in the year, but Shawn Tompkins
- 31:46Speaker 5: sitting there potential left tackle candidate. When you look at
- 31:50Speaker 5: the PFF, they graded him fifty point one on offense,
- 31:54Speaker 5: forty eight in run blocking.
- 31:55Speaker 6: Not great. That is going to have to get better.
- 31:57Speaker 6: A fifty six percent in pass protection.
- 32:00Speaker 5: And however, six of his ten pass protection grades on
- 32:04Speaker 5: the year were over seventy one. So he had a
- 32:07Speaker 5: couple pretty poor games. But he flashed a little bit
- 32:10Speaker 5: as well. So he's a guy that if you coach
- 32:13Speaker 5: him up a little bit under coach Eric Wolford, he's
- 32:16Speaker 5: a guy that can come in and start for you.
- 32:17Speaker 5: I mean he started double digit games in the Power
- 32:21Speaker 5: for He's a guy I like a lot. You add
- 32:25Speaker 5: Jamar Jones, you added Lubah Jordan ced and Adrian Lamb,
- 32:30Speaker 5: and then you look at your returners.
- 32:32Speaker 6: You don't return a ton.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Just about all of them outside of Salomon Thomas, have
- 32:36Speaker 5: some sort of experience, though, Weston Davis and Braylan More back.
- 32:40Speaker 5: Braylan Moore's I imagine is still going to be your
- 32:42Speaker 5: starting center. I mean William Sader, why he does come in,
- 32:45Speaker 5: he'll probably try to battle for that job. But about
- 32:48Speaker 5: Braila Moore went fully healthy, actually did an okay job
- 32:51Speaker 5: a year ago. And then Weston Davis, I get it,
- 32:54Speaker 5: he was probably the weak link on your O line
- 32:56Speaker 5: a year ago. But he's another year into this program
- 32:59Speaker 5: and I I always say losing a coach like Brad Davis,
- 33:02Speaker 5: to me, is a net positive for this offensive line.
- 33:04Speaker 5: There is no way the Weston Davis or any of
- 33:07Speaker 5: these other linemen can be as poor under Eric Wolford
- 33:10Speaker 5: as they were under Brad Davis, because to me, it's
- 33:12Speaker 5: almost impossible to be that way. I thought Brad Davis
- 33:15Speaker 5: was in over his head. It just it never looked
- 33:17Speaker 5: like it was working. And again, he was here for
- 33:20Speaker 5: four years under Brian Kelly. He was here under Argeron
- 33:23Speaker 5: a lot of people forget he was the interim coach
- 33:25Speaker 5: in the Texas Bowl when Joan drey Kirklan had to
- 33:27Speaker 5: play quarterback against Kansas State, and before Kelly actually got here,
- 33:31Speaker 5: it was kind of a carbon copy of what you
- 33:33Speaker 5: saw this past Texas Bowl.
- 33:35Speaker 6: That was Brad Davis.
- 33:36Speaker 5: He had been here five years Warsron's last season all
- 33:39Speaker 5: the way through Kelly and I mean the offensive line
- 33:43Speaker 5: never saw really a significant improvement. I think Eric Wolford
- 33:47Speaker 5: is going to be an improvement at that spot. You
- 33:51Speaker 5: bring back bow border line never been a traditional starter
- 33:55Speaker 5: for you, but he's played a lot of football.
- 33:56Speaker 6: He's been in there.
- 33:57Speaker 5: That the tight end spot that yak as Jacob Pester
- 34:01Speaker 5: wants to call it. I mean, you get Solomon Thomas,
- 34:03Speaker 5: who a lot of people forget about. It's kind of
- 34:06Speaker 5: like what we talked about with Devin sheer and and
- 34:08Speaker 5: Gavin Gidrey coming into the baseball season. These are two
- 34:11Speaker 5: guys that are as talented as anybody on the roster.
- 34:14Speaker 5: They're just kind of out of sight, out of mind
- 34:15Speaker 5: right now because they hadn't played any year. Remember, Solomon
- 34:18Speaker 5: Thomas was a big signing day flip for Brian Kelly
- 34:20Speaker 5: last year. He was a five stars committed to Florida State.
- 34:24Speaker 5: They flipped him on signing Day and there was a
- 34:28Speaker 5: lot of hype around him. He got hurt right before
- 34:30Speaker 5: fall camp started. He missed the entire season. Solomon Thomas
- 34:35Speaker 5: is a talented guy. His second year in a college program.
- 34:39Speaker 5: He's going to compete for playing time. I like what
- 34:43Speaker 5: you did with the freshman bryceon Martinez Ryan Murratt, who
- 34:47Speaker 5: was committed to Lane under old Miss Lane, was able
- 34:50Speaker 5: to bring him to Baton Rouge. So he's a guy
- 34:53Speaker 5: that's been on Keivin's radar for quite some time. Possibly
- 34:56Speaker 5: Lamar Brown. I know he's on the defensive line. I
- 34:59Speaker 5: prefer Lamar Brown on the offensive side of the ball.
- 35:02Speaker 5: I'm gonna keep banging that drum because I think you
- 35:04Speaker 5: need more help there, and I actually think Lamar Brown's
- 35:06Speaker 5: probably better on the offensive line.
- 35:08Speaker 6: We'll see what they do with him. As far as
- 35:11Speaker 6: like immediate impact guys.
- 35:12Speaker 5: Though, Jordan Seedon is going to start for this team,
- 35:16Speaker 5: is that left tackle, is at right tackle? It's going
- 35:19Speaker 5: to be somewhere. He's too talented of a guy not
- 35:23Speaker 5: to not. I do think people will push him. I mean,
- 35:25Speaker 5: whether it's Weston Davis, whether it's Sean Tompkins. I mean,
- 35:29Speaker 5: I think Ja Kwan Sprinkle could push for that. I mean,
- 35:32Speaker 5: there's gonna be guys pushing him for that spot. I
- 35:35Speaker 5: think Jordan Seeden does win out. I mean, he was
- 35:39Speaker 5: an All Big twelve player a year ago. They did
- 35:43Speaker 5: everything they could to get him into the Purple and Gold,
- 35:45Speaker 5: and it ultimately worked out for him. Jordan Seeden's going
- 35:47Speaker 5: to start on this football team in some capacity, at
- 35:49Speaker 5: least to begin the year. I truly believe that I'd
- 35:52Speaker 5: be really surprised if opening game of the year pull
- 35:56Speaker 5: up the little graphic with the starting five offensive lineman,
- 35:58Speaker 5: you don't see Jordan Seedens in one of those spots.
- 36:01Speaker 6: I just mentioned.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Sean Tompkins, kind of an under the radar guy, but
- 36:04Speaker 5: played a lot of football for Baylor. He hit some
- 36:07Speaker 5: ups and downs, but he flashed a little bit. He's
- 36:10Speaker 5: a guy that'll come in and play tackle for you.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Aliu Bah probably my favorite signing of the entire transfer
- 36:18Speaker 5: portal because as far as experience, as far as production,
- 36:23Speaker 5: boss the guy. I mean, he's sixty six, three hundred
- 36:26Speaker 5: and twenty pounds. He could play either guard spot, but
- 36:29Speaker 5: over his two seasons with Maryland, he started twenty four
- 36:33Speaker 5: consecutive games at guard for the terms. He also did
- 36:37Speaker 5: not allow a sack of the entire twenty twenty four season,
- 36:42Speaker 5: only allowed his quarterback to be hit twice over a
- 36:47Speaker 5: seventy two pass grade. Like anything you want as far
- 36:50Speaker 5: as a plug and play offensive lineman. Aliu bo is
- 36:53Speaker 5: that and I think he's going to win one of
- 36:55Speaker 5: those guard spots. So I mean, I think you'll have
- 36:58Speaker 5: Braylin Moore in the middle BA at either one of
- 37:01Speaker 5: those guard positions and Seaton. That leaves two spots up
- 37:04Speaker 5: for grabs. It's that other guard spot on the other
- 37:07Speaker 5: side of a BA and the other tackle spot. Weston
- 37:11Speaker 5: Davis probably has an inside track. But again, Sean Tompkins
- 37:14Speaker 5: could do it. Could one of these younger guys do it.
- 37:18Speaker 5: But I think three of your five spots, you kind
- 37:20Speaker 5: of have an idea of who you believe is going
- 37:24Speaker 5: to fill those spots. Keep an eye on Bryston Martinez
- 37:29Speaker 5: though I understand he's a freshman, but he has six six,
- 37:32Speaker 5: three hundred pounds and he looks ready to play right away.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Remember the highlight tape that came out of one of
- 37:38Speaker 5: the games that East dissension Bryston Martinez. First off, he
- 37:42Speaker 5: played tight end for this team most of the year
- 37:45Speaker 5: for the Spartans last year. That's how athletic he was.
- 37:47Speaker 5: But he can play tackle. He can play tight end.
- 37:50Speaker 5: He lined up a wide receiver and was running dig routes.
- 37:53Speaker 5: He threw a pass at quarterback, a long pass for
- 37:56Speaker 5: a touchdown. He lined up in the wildcat, took some
- 37:59Speaker 5: snaps and ran the ball. Like Bryceston Martinez is an
- 38:01Speaker 5: athletic freak, and he could come in and potentially push
- 38:05Speaker 5: for a starting spot.
- 38:06Speaker 6: That's kind of your dark horse to watch.
- 38:08Speaker 5: I understand everybody wants to look at the transfer portal
- 38:10Speaker 5: and say, oh, you brought in all this talent, all
- 38:12Speaker 5: this experience. I get all that, but a young guy
- 38:14Speaker 5: like Bryston Martinez sliding in there, I wouldn't be totally
- 38:18Speaker 5: surprised if that happened. And if this offensive line comes together,
- 38:22Speaker 5: like we're talking about, LSU is going to be higher
- 38:24Speaker 5: on this list of explosive offenses the number seven because
- 38:28Speaker 5: you have everything else. I mean, yesterday we talked about
- 38:31Speaker 5: the pass catchers, right like Jace Brown, Winston Watkins, Trey Wilson.
- 38:37Speaker 5: That's just the tip of the iceberg. I mean, look
- 38:38Speaker 5: at all the guys you brought in. I thought you
- 38:40Speaker 5: did well in the high school ranks with Jabari Mack Braden, Allen,
- 38:44Speaker 5: Corey Barber. Corey Barber I think has some serious talent.
- 38:48Speaker 5: You have Trey des Greenback, you have Harlan Barry and
- 38:52Speaker 5: Kaden Durham, and you have your quarterback figured out everything
- 38:55Speaker 5: you need to be successful on offenses. There your only
- 38:58Speaker 5: question mark is the offensive line, and that's a big
- 39:01Speaker 5: question mark. But I think this coaching staff did about
- 39:04Speaker 5: as good a job as anybody could have done as
- 39:07Speaker 5: putting this thing together, bringing in into a combination of
- 39:12Speaker 5: veteran experience, guys that maybe don't have the experience you
- 39:15Speaker 5: need but have a lot of upside like a Devin Harper,
- 39:17Speaker 5: familiarity with Lane Kiffen, and then you bring in a
- 39:21Speaker 5: big offensive tackle like Bryceton Martinez in the high school
- 39:23Speaker 5: rank who I believe this s guy's the limit for him.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Like that might be my favorite signing in LSU signing class.
- 39:29Speaker 5: As far as high school players go.
- 39:31Speaker 6: Keep an eye on them. It'll be fun to watch
- 39:34Speaker 6: as we go into spring. We'll get more updates as
- 39:37Speaker 6: we get closer.
- 39:38Speaker 5: But if this offensive line can come together, I think
- 39:41Speaker 5: the sky's the limit for this offense under Lane Kiffen
- 39:45Speaker 5: and Charlie Weis Junior. All right, we'll take a quick
- 39:47Speaker 5: time out when we get back. Closing out hour number one.
- 39:51Speaker 6: Next, we got two more hours left with you you're
- 39:52Speaker 6: on off the bench after bench.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Well, speaking of diving in to dive into a Russell pool,
- 40:03Speaker 3: because when you see what they can do for you,
- 40:07Speaker 3: you'll be blown away. I mean, they're gonna make the
- 40:08Speaker 3: pool of your dreams. In fact, that's their tagline because
- 40:12Speaker 3: they know it is factual. Let's build your dream pool.
- 40:16Speaker 3: And what better time to get that process started than
- 40:21Speaker 3: right now because you are going to enjoy it year long. Look,
- 40:25Speaker 3: this is Louisiana. It is always pull season here in Louisiana.
- 40:29Speaker 3: But this is truly a one stop shop. We're talking
- 40:31Speaker 3: about construction, maintenance, retail, all of that you handle with
- 40:34Speaker 3: one company. That company is Russell Pool Company, and you
- 40:38Speaker 3: can trust them. We trust them. Everybody they build pools
- 40:42Speaker 3: for trust them. Lshue, the Tigers trust them as well.
- 40:45Speaker 9: Yeah, let them build your dream pool.
- 40:47Speaker 10: They can do everything from design to landscape, architect to
- 40:51Speaker 10: finance and options.
- 40:52Speaker 6: They can do it all.
- 40:52Speaker 9: When you think of quality pools, you think of Russell Pools.
- 40:55Speaker 9: Russell Pools dot com.
- 41:12Speaker 7: So Santamento Romantic not discussing it.

- 42:03Speaker 5: Welcome back in final segment Hour number one here on
- 42:05Speaker 5: a Thursday edition of Off the Bench.
- 42:08Speaker 6: I'm gonna go back to Las Vegas.
- 42:10Speaker 5: The problem is, though, it's gonna have to be with
- 42:12Speaker 5: something like that, Like it's gonna have to be a
- 42:14Speaker 5: March Madnis tournament, a sporting event or a concert, because guys,
- 42:17Speaker 5: I think I missed my Vegas window. Like we went
- 42:20Speaker 5: to Vegas. I took my senior trip after graduating in
- 42:24Speaker 5: high school to Vegas. I was eighteen years old. Couldn't
- 42:28Speaker 5: I mean you could go, you could walk into the casino.
- 42:31Speaker 5: You couldn't really do anything while you were in the casino.
- 42:33Speaker 5: I mean a lot of the bars out there you
- 42:35Speaker 5: were twenty one and up, and like, I'm not I'm
- 42:38Speaker 5: not a huge drinker.
- 42:39Speaker 6: Anyways.
- 42:39Speaker 5: I mean, I think we've talked about that a few times.
- 42:41Speaker 5: But you know, I went, like my whole family went.
- 42:44Speaker 5: First off, guys, we drove to Las Vegas, which I
- 42:46Speaker 5: do not recommend. It was a twenty six hour drive
- 42:49Speaker 5: or something like that, twenty six twenty four.
- 42:54Speaker 4: It was.
- 42:55Speaker 5: I don't know why we chose to do. My part said,
- 42:57Speaker 5: we want to see the country as we drive across it. Well,
- 42:59Speaker 5: I can I tell you from West Texas pretty much
- 43:03Speaker 5: till you get to like Albuquerque, New Mexico, there's nothing.
- 43:06Speaker 6: It's like, just just skip it. If you could just
- 43:08Speaker 6: get like.
- 43:11Speaker 5: Halfway through Texas jumped straight to Las Vegas, that's the
- 43:15Speaker 5: best way to do it.
- 43:16Speaker 6: But yeah, I mean we were there. My whole family
- 43:19Speaker 6: went senior trip.
- 43:20Speaker 5: Again. I'm not even twenty one yet. And then I
- 43:22Speaker 5: always told myself I'm going to go back to Vegas.
- 43:25Speaker 5: But I mean I'm about to be thirty years old.
- 43:29Speaker 5: I have a child on the way. I kind of
- 43:32Speaker 5: missed my recreational Las Vegas when again, I would go
- 43:37Speaker 5: for a sporting event or you know, a concert or
- 43:40Speaker 5: something like.
- 43:40Speaker 6: I would love to go to the Sphere.
- 43:41Speaker 5: I just don't want to donate a kidney in order
- 43:43Speaker 5: to buy concert tickets to go to the Sphere. But yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 5: it's kind of a bummer. I kind of I think
- 43:49Speaker 5: I kind of missed my uh my Las Vegas window. Now,
- 43:52Speaker 5: the thing about Vegas everyone that has told me there's
- 43:56Speaker 5: been multiple times, Like again, I went once back in
- 43:58Speaker 5: it was like June of two fourteen. I think we
- 44:02Speaker 5: stayed there three or four days. That's about all you're
- 44:04Speaker 5: gonna do in Lose Vegas. Like, that's not a like
- 44:07Speaker 5: Elandra said she's going to New York. That that's like
- 44:11Speaker 5: I think my sister she goes to New York kind
- 44:15Speaker 5: of like you Landra, like she goes every year. But
- 44:18Speaker 5: like that that's a place I could continue to go. Unfortunately,
- 44:21Speaker 5: I missed my Las Vegas window. However, that March madness thing,
- 44:24Speaker 5: I'd be all over that. I'd I would love to
- 44:26Speaker 5: go see a sporting event there or the the uh
- 44:30Speaker 5: where the Raiders play. I can't even think of the
- 44:31Speaker 5: stadium name, but where they play, like where LSU usc
- 44:34Speaker 5: like I would have loved to have went to that,
- 44:36Speaker 5: but hated the flight home because the game was absolutely
- 44:39Speaker 5: atrocious and unless she choked that one way, but that's
- 44:41Speaker 5: beside the point.
- 44:42Speaker 6: Upsetting. Kind of missed my Vegas window.
- 44:45Speaker 5: All right, because we got two more hours to go
- 44:47Speaker 5: here on off the bench, we governed a lot. I
- 44:51Speaker 5: mean we we kind of broke down LSU versus Nichols.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Milandra two years in the making, finally got her h
- 44:57Speaker 5: run rule victory for the correct team. We figured out,
- 45:00Speaker 5: you just got to be a little bit more specific.
- 45:02Speaker 5: LSU does run rule Nichols twelve to one in an
- 45:05Speaker 5: eight inning yesterday at the box, we took.
- 45:08Speaker 6: The little LSU football.
- 45:09Speaker 5: CBS Sports put out their most explosive offenses coming up
- 45:12Speaker 5: in twenty twenty six. I think LSU is a little
- 45:14Speaker 5: too low on that list. They come in at number seven. However,
- 45:18Speaker 5: with all the offensive line concerns, I'm okay with it.
- 45:21Speaker 5: I just think LSU is going to exceed expectations in
- 45:24Speaker 5: that area, mainly due to the coaching change, but also
- 45:28Speaker 5: I think you brought in a lot of talented guys
- 45:30Speaker 5: coming up in the next hour. There has been so
- 45:34Speaker 5: much talk about the Saints going after Jeremiah Love, and
- 45:37Speaker 5: I'm kind of warming up to the ID.
- 45:39Speaker 6: I think you still have a lot bigger needs.
- 45:41Speaker 5: But Jeremiah Love is a really good player, So if
- 45:44Speaker 5: you grabbed him at eight overall, like I'm not like
- 45:46Speaker 5: Matt Flann, I'd be okay with it.
- 45:49Speaker 6: I think it's one of those things where I think
- 45:50Speaker 6: the Saints are sitting in.
- 45:51Speaker 5: A really good spot because they have the eighth overall
- 45:54Speaker 5: pick and it looks like you have your young quarterback
- 45:57Speaker 5: of the future, so you're in a pretty good spot.
- 46:00Speaker 5: But what if they don't get Jeremiah Love. What are
- 46:02Speaker 5: some other options to add to that running game. There's
- 46:04Speaker 5: a couple big name free agents, at least for the
- 46:07Speaker 5: time being, they have not been franchise tagged. Might happen
- 46:10Speaker 5: with one of them, but as of now that has
- 46:12Speaker 5: not happened. We'll look at how each of them fit
- 46:15Speaker 5: in the Saints offense. LSU record number of season tickets
- 46:20Speaker 5: sold for football, No surprise there, we're talking about that.
- 46:24Speaker 5: And then Bill Bender of The Sporting News will jump
- 46:26Speaker 5: on with us to discuss March madness. That Field of
- 46:30Speaker 5: sixty eight coming up here pretty soon. We'll break it
- 46:32Speaker 5: all down with Bill Benders to stay tuned. We got
- 46:35Speaker 5: two more hours left with you. On a Thursday edition
- 46:37Speaker 5: of Off the Bench
- 46:39Speaker 1: Off the Bench
