- 0:00Chapter 20 is where we are this evening, this bow for a word of
- 0:02prayer together. Father, thank you for today.
- 0:04And the chance we have the study, the word.
- 0:06You are such a great God. And we are blessed to be able to
- 0:10spend a brief moment in the scriptures to understand those
- 0:15things you have for us. Lord, we realize that the things
- 0:18that you have said in your word speak to us every day and that
- 0:23because it's a Living Word. It's something that is always
- 0:28applicable. No matter what year we live, no
- 0:32matter what culture, we are from the word of God, speaks to all
- 0:36of us. It is so great to know that when
- 0:38we read it and when we study it and when we memorize it, we're
- 0:42able to understand what your word is for us at that time.
- 0:48And so Lord, I just pray that you open our hearts and Minds
- 0:50tonight to see the things out of your law that will enable us to
- 0:54see you for who you are and what you've done.
- 0:57Thank you for those who are here.
- 0:59We thank you. Lord, that they were here safely
- 1:01and pray that their time would be rich for them as they hear
- 1:04your word this evening in Jesus name.
- 1:07Amen, Job chapter 20, and as you're turning there, you have
- 1:14to ask yourself. The question.
- 1:17Question is why is it we spend all this time?
- 1:21Reading over all these conversations between job.
- 1:27And his friends. Why is it?
- 1:31We just don't skip over all this.
- 1:34Why do we spend all this time week after week after week?
- 1:39Listening to what job's friends say when in all reality when we
- 1:44get to the end, God's going to say very clearly that the
- 1:49friends did not represent me? They did not speak for me.
- 1:55In fact they misrepresented me tremendously job. 42 first. 47.
- 2:01So if that's the case, why spend all this time looking at this
- 2:05conversation, we're God's being misrepresented.
- 2:10Why would we do that? well, the Bible tells us that
- 2:15all scripture is inspired by God and is profitable.
- 2:21They're just not certain books that are inspired, that's all
- 2:24inspired, it's all God. Breathed every single word is is
- 2:29breathed into existence by God. So when we study the Bible we
- 2:35are studying what God has said. So the Bible says that every
- 2:39word of God is pure every word of God is true.
- 2:43We take that at face value and realize that everything that God
- 2:45has said is absolutely true. So there's no portion of
- 2:49scripture that's irrelevant to our lives.
- 2:52We think it is because we're reading this and you know, and
- 2:54I'm not sure that applies to me at this time or I'm not sure
- 2:57that's really where I'm at, you know.
- 2:58And so I don't see anybody relates to me but it does it all
- 3:02does. And that's very, very important
- 3:05understand because people read The Book of Leviticus and say I
- 3:07don't understand all these rituals and ceremonies and that
- 3:11doesn't apply to me. But it's all about Holiness,
- 3:13right? The Book of Leviticus is about
- 3:15Holiness and so everybody's to be holy as God.
- 3:18His holy. So yeah, we say The Book of
- 3:20Leviticus because God wants us to be holy like he's holy And
- 3:25yet when you read the conversations that job has with
- 3:28these so-called friends, It can be very monotonous.
- 3:33It can be very repetitive. It can be very insulting.
- 3:39So why do we do it? Well, if every word of God is
- 3:43inspired and all that inspired word of God is profitable for
- 3:47Doctrine for reproof for correction for instruction in
- 3:50righteousness, that the man of God will be thoroughly.
- 3:52Furnished equipped for all good works, right?
- 3:56There's something here that's going to equip me.
- 3:57There's something here that's profitable for me.
- 4:00So what is it? That's going to profit me. by
- 4:03studying The Book of Job and the conversations that job was
- 4:06having that's very important. and so, as we study tonight, for
- 4:13instance, you can talk about The brevity of Life For The Wicked
- 4:21that will be Point. Number one, or you can talk
- 4:24about the temporary pleasure. For the wicked.
- 4:29That's Point. Number two.
- 4:31Or you could talk about the certainty of judgment upon the
- 4:34wicked. That's Point.
- 4:36Number three. And all that would be
- 4:38applicable. Life is brief.
- 4:42Doesn't last very long. Pleasures are temporary in this
- 4:45life. They come and go.
- 4:48And then there is a certainty that judge was going to come
- 4:50from the wicked. so you can learn about those things
- 4:54especially when it comes to sharing your faith, with those
- 4:56who live Wicked lives and they need to know of the certainty of
- 5:00judgement But it goes way beyond that.
- 5:05Because you have to understand what's exactly happening in the
- 5:07conversations. So, let me introduce it to you
- 5:11this way. The greatest destructive force
- 5:17in the church. Is the tongue.
- 5:22Our speech. Our conversation.
- 5:26It is always been the most destructive force.
- 5:29In fact, the tongue is like a sword that's driven into the
- 5:33side of people's lives and in it, just drives deep into the
- 5:38heart and soul of people and causes great damage.
- 5:44Especially when what is said. Is not true.
- 5:52And what jobs friends are saying is not true.
- 5:58In fact, they are giving false accusations against job.
- 6:06Now that's very important because we need to understand
- 6:09that in our day and age because we need to realize that false
- 6:12accusations are very destructive to people in the church.
- 6:17But here's Joe right? He's suffering greatly.
- 6:21And what is being said to him? Just isn't true.
- 6:28So they falsely accuse, the innocent man, they falsely
- 6:32accused. The greatest man on the planet
- 6:35they falsely accused the blameless upright God-fearing
- 6:38man. And they will stop at nothing.
- 6:44For him to see it their way. Now, when you think about that,
- 6:49think about the people in the Bible that were falsely accused.
- 6:53Let's think of Joseph, right. Joseph was sold into slavery.
- 6:59By his brothers, went off to Egypt.
- 7:05And served in Potiphar's house. The one-day Potiphar's wife
- 7:10wanted Joseph. And so she wanted Joseph to lie
- 7:15with her. And he would not.
- 7:19So, she grabbed his cloak and he ran.
- 7:23And she falsely accused him. Of something that wasn't true.
- 7:30And Joseph went to prison. She wanted something from, from
- 7:35Joseph. And she didn't get it.
- 7:39And because she didn't get what she wanted.
- 7:43She falsely accused him. He went to prison.
- 7:47What about Moses? Israel's greatest leader right
- 7:51the great emancipator. Moses at age 80 right at age 80
- 7:57the Lord appeared to him in a burning bush and told him hey
- 8:00you're going to deliver my people this year.
- 8:01I'm coming down to deliver them and you're going to be the
- 8:03deliverer and sure enough he did.
- 8:05He took them out after those ten plagues.
- 8:07He led them out of Egyptian bondage Into the Wilderness and
- 8:11guess what? Israel was so upset that they
- 8:16falsely accused Israel's greatest leader for bringing
- 8:20them out of bondage just so they could die in the wilderness.
- 8:26That wasn't true. But the accused him of that
- 8:30falsely. That wasn't his motive, not at
- 8:34all. But here is Moses Israel's
- 8:38greatest leader falsely accused. By the nation here was Joseph,
- 8:45nothing in the scriptures is said, bad about Joseph at all.
- 8:50He's a great type of Christ in the Old Testament.
- 8:53Falsely accused. Went to prison, didn't do
- 8:58anything. How about David King?
- 9:02David member at 17 years of age. He slew the Giant and the song
- 9:07began to ring all throughout Israel, right?
- 9:10Saul has slain his thousands but David his ten thousands, and all
- 9:17of a sudden, Saul became jealous.
- 9:22Angry. So what did he do?
- 9:26He falsely accused David of wanting to steal his throne and
- 9:32for the next 12 years. David was a fugitive, David was
- 9:36on the Run. Because King Saul falsely.
- 9:43Accused him. He lied about.
- 9:47So, you have Joseph. And Potiphar's wife.
- 9:51She wanted something so bad when she didn't get it.
- 9:54She was angry. So what did she do?
- 9:56She falsely accused Joseph and then you have Moses.
- 10:02Great leader of Israel. And all of a sudden the people
- 10:06not getting what they want. And when they don't get what
- 10:09they want, what do they do? They turn on the leader and they
- 10:13falsely accuse him. Here's King David.
- 10:17Not the king yet. This is 17 year old kid.
- 10:21But he's accused of wanting to steal the throne even though
- 10:24that's not his purposes simply because Saul didn't want to lose
- 10:29the throne and he was a jealous man.
- 10:33It's so jealousy is seen by falsely accusing, those who are
- 10:37a threat to you. In the list, goes on.
- 10:42How about Nehemiah? The Abaya was sent by God to
- 10:46help rebuild the walls around the city of Jerusalem after
- 10:50their Babylonian captivity. But he was falsely accused.
- 10:58Of wanting to be the next king of Israel, which was so far from
- 11:04the truth. But he was falsely accused.
- 11:10And then you move on. Look at Peter and John they were
- 11:15falsely accused of preaching a false Christ when they were
- 11:19preaching the true Christ and because they were falsely
- 11:22accused, they were beaten and imprisoned Then, of course, you
- 11:29have the great Apostle Paul. Poop on his conversion.
- 11:35Was falsely accused of not being a true convert but a phony and
- 11:41was later accused of bringing dissension among the Jewish
- 11:44Nation. It was a Accused by Governor
- 11:48Festus of being insane. All false accusations, none of
- 11:53them were true. But yet.
- 11:57He was lied about. How about the Christ?
- 12:02Right. He was falsely accused.
- 12:06He was born. Illegitimately that was an
- 12:10accusation. Not true.
- 12:12Or how about the fact that he cast out demons by Beelzebub?
- 12:18All another words, the things that he did he did because he
- 12:22was possessed by Satan. False accusation.
- 12:29He was accused of being a drunkard because he was so, she
- 12:31ate with, with, with Sinners, not true.
- 12:37And upon his trial, there are many false accusations said
- 12:40against him that put him on a tree.
- 12:43He hung there and died for your sins in mind.
- 12:48And what does Christ say, before any of that ever took place?
- 12:52He said these words in Matthew Chapter 5 on that first Sermon
- 12:57on the Mount there on the Northern slopes of the Sea of
- 13:00Galilee. He said these words blessed are
- 13:04you when people insult, you persecute you falsely say all
- 13:09kinds of evil against you because of me rejoice and be
- 13:12glad for your reward in heaven is great for in the same way.
- 13:15They persecuted the prophets who were before you You live.
- 13:21The beatitude kind of life. You're a peacemaker.
- 13:25And you're the kind of person who who who Mourns over to sin
- 13:29and is a part of the kingdom of God.
- 13:31People will persecute you for righteousness sake.
- 13:33They'll falsely accuse you. But Christ says be of good
- 13:38cheer. You're a part of good company so
- 13:42they persecuted the prophets who were before you in fact he could
- 13:46have said and so they persecuted the greatest men on the planet
- 13:51job, falsely. Because they did.
- 13:58What would possess these men to falsely?
- 14:03Accuse job? What would possess these men to
- 14:10lie about what's happening with job?
- 14:13Because that's what they're doing.
- 14:15They're not speaking the truth, that's why the Lord invites him
- 14:18at the end. And that's why at the very end
- 14:20they have to offer sacrifices. They have to repent because they
- 14:23sinned against God and syndicates job.
- 14:27And they think they're coming to give Comfort to job and they're
- 14:30they're coming with the right motive in the right purpose and
- 14:32here they are to sit with him and and to weep with him and to
- 14:35pray with him. Although the Bible records, no,
- 14:37no prayer with him or for him by them, but here they are.
- 14:43Do you know why? Do you know why?
- 14:48They falsely accused him. It's because he hated job.
- 14:54The hit them. See what that's harsh.
- 14:57How can you say that? I didn't say it.
- 15:01God did. Let me read it to you.
- 15:05Book of Proverbs 26 verse verse 2426 chapter 24 verse He Who
- 15:11hates Disguises it with his lips.
- 15:17But he lays up the seat. In his heart.
- 15:22He use a heater is going to disguise it with his lips.
- 15:27In other words, they're going to say things that you want to
- 15:29hear, but down deep, they hate you because they have deceived
- 15:33them on their, their own selves. But listen to this verse 25.
- 15:38When he speaks graciously, do not believe him for there are
- 15:41seven Abominations in his heart. Now, you can take that as being
- 15:46the Perfection of abomination because seven is the number of
- 15:49perfection. So there's a, a perfect
- 15:51abomination in the heart or you can go back to Proverbs Chapter
- 15:546, right? About the things that God hates
- 15:59and maybe that's the seven Abominations in his heart.
- 16:03But it says, there was hatred covers himself with Gaia, whose
- 16:06wickedness will be revealed. Before the assembly, he digs a
- 16:09pit will fall into it and he rolls a stone.
- 16:12It will come back on him. And that's exactly what happens
- 16:15to build, dad eliphaz, and zophar.
- 16:19They dig a pit for themselves? By falsely, accusing job. 6
- 16:24verse. 28. A lying tongue hates those.
- 16:31It crushes. There you go.
- 16:33Why do people lie? I hate you.
- 16:37That's what they like. You have stopped them from
- 16:41obtaining something that they want.
- 16:44Potiphar's wife nation of Israel.
- 16:47King David, I mean assault with David.
- 16:51Down deep. They there is hatred in their
- 16:54hearts because you have kept them from obtaining something
- 16:58they want to obtain. Now, job's friends, would never
- 17:01say that they hate each other because we don't hate joke.
- 17:03Oh no, you got it all wrong. You're wrong.
- 17:06We're here because we love job, we're here because we admire
- 17:09Joe, we're here because we're the comforters of job.
- 17:12That's why we're here. Hmm, really Then why do you
- 17:18falsely accuse him? I've sinned, he never committed.
- 17:22Why do you lie about his life? Why?
- 17:29Because the Bible says you hate him, I don't care what anybody
- 17:31else says, that's your relevant. What does the Bible say?
- 17:34That's all that matters. The lying tongue hates the sole
- 17:40it crushes. And a flattering mouth.
- 17:45Works ruin. That's why the Ten Commandments.
- 17:49God says, Thou shalt not bear false.
- 17:52Witness against your neighbor, can't lie.
- 17:58Can't do that. Over in Proverbs, chapter 17,
- 18:01listen to this. Probably 17 verse number 4 and
- 18:06evildoer listens to Wicked lips and evildoer listens to weekly.
- 18:10And what are these three men doing?
- 18:12They're all sitting around listening to the same
- 18:14conversation right? And the evildoer listens to
- 18:20Wicked lips. A liar pays attention to a
- 18:23destructive tongue. In other words what makes me pay
- 18:27attention? What perks of my ears?
- 18:29Is the same thing that these three guys are they sat around
- 18:32job. They all wanted to hear the same
- 18:34thing and as the lies began to envelop around job's condition,
- 18:39they were thinking about more things that could say about job
- 18:42more things, that would accuse them.
- 18:43Maybe down deep. They were jealous about how
- 18:46popular job was. Maybe they were just because of
- 18:50the success of Jobs Family and life, we don't know.
- 18:54But what we do know is that when you falsely accuse someone, when
- 18:58they didn't do anything, that was wrong, it's because you hate
- 19:03them in your heart. and you deceive your own self into
- 19:08thinking that you really do love them, but you don't You see, we
- 19:13have to go back into, what does the Bible say not?
- 19:17How do I feel? What do I think?
- 19:20What my opinion is all? That's irrelevant only did it's
- 19:24relevant? Is the scriptures?
- 19:27What does the Bible say? And these men listened lied,
- 19:35falsely accused Joe. That's what makes him the most
- 19:39remarkable man in the scriptures because of how he responds to
- 19:44all this. This is absolutely phenomenal
- 19:47about how job does all this. Because he's able, he's able to
- 19:53endure the emotional abuse, the verbal abuse, the false
- 19:59accusations. Because he knows his Redeemer
- 20:03Lives. He knows one day.
- 20:05You'll see him face to face, and he knows in his heart that he
- 20:11has not done anything, that he's been accused of, even though
- 20:15they just berate him, they come at him.
- 20:17One after another, they tag team on top of Joe's back coming back
- 20:24one after another one. After another one.
- 20:26After another. They just don't want to quit.
- 20:31And they're arrogant. The prideful.
- 20:35Well, how do we know that look what it says, Job chapter 20
- 20:39long introduction to get to where we want to get to verse
- 20:42number one? Then so far the name of theit
- 20:45answered. Therefore my disquieting
- 20:47thoughts make me respond even because of my inward agitation.
- 20:53I listened to the reproof which insults me and the spirit of my
- 20:57understanding makes me answer. What an arrogant fool.
- 21:03This is Le first of all when you're going to go help somebody
- 21:07you can't go. If you wear your feelings on
- 21:09your sleeve, right? You just can't do that because
- 21:11you're going to say something that you don't like they're
- 21:13going to respond to you in a way you don't like and then you
- 21:16going to get hurt and then you're going to hang your head
- 21:18and then you go on to go home now, these guys don't do that.
- 21:22No, but he's insulted that somehow they're going to be
- 21:27judged and they are going to be judged and God's going to do it.
- 21:29The end. but somehow they're insulted and he says this, he
- 21:34says, look he says The spirit of my understanding, makes me
- 21:39answer the street of my wisdom. I have such wisdom and I'm
- 21:44compelled now because I'm so wise to answer you He is the
- 21:51person Paul mentions in Galatians chapter 36 verse
- 21:54number 3. That says if anyone thinks he is
- 21:58something, when he is nothing he deceives himself.
- 22:04He thought he was something. But he was nothing.
- 22:09He was so deceived. He was so self-deceived because
- 22:12he really thought he was all that high, wisdom, and obviously
- 22:17job, you don't have any wisdom but I do so I am compelled.
- 22:20Now to answer you explain to you your situation once again
- 22:25because obviously you didn't get the first time I explain it to
- 22:28you. So I'm going to talk to you
- 22:29number one, about the brevity of the life of the wicked because
- 22:34your life is brief Then to talk to you about the temporary,
- 22:37pleasure of the life of the wicked.
- 22:41And then we'll talk to you about the certainty of judgment that
- 22:43comes upon the wicked because you are bound in term determined
- 22:47to be judged by God. Now, that's not true.
- 22:52But that's what's so far beliefs.
- 22:55You see, they can't get job to agree with them.
- 22:59They're frustrated. They can't get joke to acquiesce
- 23:03to their whims. They can't get joke to admit.
- 23:07Yep, I've sinned. This great, Wicked sin.
- 23:10It's caught up to me. The Jig Is up.
- 23:12You're right guys. I am what I am.
- 23:14I'm a sinner and I'm being punished because of that because
- 23:17none of it's true. But they're going to continue to
- 23:20berate him and come at him. Any way they possibly can
- 23:23because they have to convince him that he is wicked and he
- 23:26deserves the Judgment of the wicked.
- 23:30So so far says I'm going to speak to you out of my wisdom.
- 23:34The first thing he said, addresses is the brevity of Life
- 23:38For The Wicked. He says, verse 4.
- 23:41Do you know this from of old from the establishment of man on
- 23:45Earth that the triumphing of the wicked is short?
- 23:47And the joy of the Godless is momentary.
- 23:52Jump this way. It's always been for the very
- 23:53beginning of time. You need to know this job
- 23:57nothing's ever changed that the wickets time of Triumph.
- 24:04Is short. And the joy of the Godless is
- 24:10momentary. You've had job Joy joke.
- 24:14But it's brief. You've had good times job.
- 24:19But it's over. That's why you have nothing
- 24:22left. Because God is judging you
- 24:27though. Is loftiness reaches the heavens
- 24:28and his head touches the cloud. Speaking of job, he perishes
- 24:32forever like his refuse or like dung.
- 24:38Those have seen him will say, where is he?
- 24:40He flies away like a dream and they cannot find him even like a
- 24:43vision of the night. He is chased away.
- 24:45The I would saw him see some no longer and his place no longer
- 24:48be holds him, his sons favor the poor, this hands give back as
- 24:52well. His bones are full of his
- 24:54youthful vigor but it lies down with him in the Dust.
- 24:58In other words, job. Listen, it's over.
- 25:00You're going to be gone and people can say, where's Joe?
- 25:02Where do you go? He's gone.
- 25:05Why? Because the sin somehow of your
- 25:08youthful vigor? Somehow when you were young, you
- 25:13did something that was an abomination.
- 25:17And it's going to lie down with you in the dust.
- 25:20Because your life is short because you're Wicked.
- 25:25That's not true. That's a false accusation.
- 25:28That's a lie. Because Wicked people live a
- 25:31long time. Think about it.
- 25:34I know a lot of wicked people that lived a long time and I do
- 25:37a lot of great godly people that died.
- 25:39Very, very young, right? So we know it's not true.
- 25:45So we moved to the second point which is the the temporary
- 25:47pleasure of the wicked and we know that pleasure is very
- 25:49temporary. He was 1125 speaks about the
- 25:53passing pleasures of sin. So we know that that the
- 25:56pleasure of sin never last forever.
- 25:58We we get that, we understand that.
- 26:01But he's going to apply that to job that the temporary pleasure
- 26:05that he has. Is all over now, because you're
- 26:09Wicked. Verse 12. though, evil is sweet
- 26:14in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue.
- 26:19It's not to speak about the attraction of sin.
- 26:22You've had a had a piece of candy in your mouth that just is
- 26:25so, so good. I love sitting Bears, right?
- 26:28And I love that, the, the intensity of that that cinnamon
- 26:32in your mouth and I'll suck on those two in a man and and I
- 26:35know I just I want to chew them, but I try not to because I love
- 26:40stuffed bear so much and I'll put them under my tongue and let
- 26:42it sit at sweetness. This just sit there or milk
- 26:45doesn't, that's all man. The chocolate-covered Milk.
- 26:49Oh man. It just melts in your mouth and
- 26:51just let it sit there for a while, right?
- 26:53It just is so good. What so far saying is, he's
- 26:56applying this to evil and what Wicked people do.
- 26:59They love their evil. It's like the candy in the
- 27:02tongue that you just want to keep their.
- 27:03You want to keep the attraction always before you.
- 27:06He says, in in verse number 13, though, he desires it and will
- 27:10not let it go. But holds it in his mouth, get
- 27:14his food in his stomach is changed to the Venom Of cobras
- 27:18within him, he swallows riches, but will vomit them up.
- 27:22God will expel them from his belly, the interim assault of
- 27:27evil, the end result of sin is loathing, In, this is where
- 27:33you're at job. You're at the end and now you
- 27:37are experiencing the loathing of your sin.
- 27:41So it was great while it was around for a while, but it's
- 27:43just temporary pleasure. All the while you were offering
- 27:47sacrifices for your children and in all the while you were, you
- 27:51were praying for your children. And all the while you were level
- 27:53on your wife, there was a sin that just melted in your mouth
- 27:57that you were hiding from everybody else again, not true.
- 28:01Falsely. Accusing job.
- 28:04Verse 16, he sucks. The poison of cobras the Vipers
- 28:08tongue, slice them You can dye job.
- 28:14The wages of sin is death. There is a way which seemeth,
- 28:17right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death,
- 28:19not life. It's over job, you're dying.
- 28:23The temporary pleasure is finished.
- 28:26He does not look at the streams. The rivers flowing with honey
- 28:29and Kurds. He returns what he's attained
- 28:33it. Cannot swallow it as to the
- 28:35riches of his training. He cannot even enjoy them for
- 28:38his oppressed and forsaking the poor.
- 28:40He has seized the house, which he has not built, not true.
- 28:43He didn't do that. He never oppressed the poor.
- 28:46He never took from somebody a house.
- 28:49In fact, over in chapter 29, these words are said about Job
- 28:53verse 12, because I delivered the poor who cried for help Help
- 28:56and the orphan who had no helper, the blessing of one
- 29:00ready to perish. Came Upon me.
- 29:02And I made the Widow's heart sing for joy.
- 29:05That in verse number 15 of chapter 29, I was eyes to the
- 29:09Blind and feet to the laying. I was a father to the needy and
- 29:12I investigated the case which I did not know.
- 29:15I mean he was always giving himself away to help people.
- 29:19But so far says, you know, what job you stole people's homes to
- 29:22make yourself rich? Now look you lost your whole.
- 29:27You lost your riches, he lost it all.
- 29:31Because you're Wicked. Again.
- 29:35A false accusation. Ally and eliphaz and bildad are
- 29:41listening to this and this is just fuel for the fire.
- 29:44This is just fueling their fire as to what they're going to say
- 29:46next, why? Because Liars, love Liars,
- 29:49right? They love the destructive words
- 29:52that they say because you can few be fueled by that and feed
- 29:55off of that and give more fuel to the fire.
- 29:58And that's exactly what they're going to do as time goes on.
- 30:02You job. So remarkable so fascinating.
- 30:07His response is because he responds with truth because what
- 30:11silence lies. Truth.
- 30:16Truth silence Sciences lies, it always does.
- 30:20Truth loves the light. Lies don't like to be exposed
- 30:28like to be hidden away, truth loves the light.
- 30:32It always wants to be in the light in job will always expose
- 30:36them to the light. Because he wanted to know the
- 30:39truth. Very important.
- 30:43So you come down to verse number 20, he goes from the brevity of
- 30:47the life of the wicked to the temporary pleasure for the
- 30:51wicked to the certainty of judgement God's judgment upon
- 30:53the wicked. Because he knew no quiet within
- 30:57him. He does not retain anything.
- 31:00He desires. That's the Wicked Man.
- 31:03And Joe bet you. There's no peace within you.
- 31:05There's no Trend quality within you.
- 31:08Isaiah 40 tells us there is no peace for the wicked, right?
- 31:11He just saying, you have no peace, you had no peace.
- 31:14You were never at peace job because of your sin and
- 31:18therefore you do not retain anything that you desire.
- 31:21Everything you wanted. You AUST, why?
- 31:25cuz, Of your sin. So, nothing remains for him to
- 31:33devour their Forest Prosperity, does not endure, you've lost it
- 31:37all job in the fullness of his plenty.
- 31:40He will be cramped, the hand of everyone who suffers will come
- 31:43against him. When he fills his belly, God
- 31:46will send his Fierce anger on him and Will Rain it on him
- 31:49while he is eating. In other words, he is applying
- 31:52this to what happened to job as he was taking care of things at
- 31:56home. And all of a sudden there was
- 31:57one messenger and then a other messenger and then another
- 32:00messenger because God was reading his wrath down on on
- 32:04job, because of his wickedness, He may flee from the iron weapon
- 32:11but the bronze bow will pierce him.
- 32:14It is drawn forth and comes out of his back.
- 32:17When even the glittering point from his Gall Terrors come upon
- 32:20Him. Complete darkness is held in
- 32:22reserve for his treasures and unfeigned fire will devour him.
- 32:27It will consume the Survivor in his tent.
- 32:29The heavens will reveal his iniquities and the Earth will
- 32:33rise up against him. There's no Escape job.
- 32:37Because both Heaven and Earth everything above and everything
- 32:41below knows of your iniquity knows.
- 32:45You're guilty the increase of his house will depart, his
- 32:48possessions will Flow Away in the day of his anger.
- 32:52This is the wicked man's portion from God, even the Heritage,
- 32:56decreed to him, by God, see joke, this is all from God.
- 33:01It's called given to you by God, this is a decreed appointment
- 33:06because of your wickedness. And Joe will respond as long as
- 33:13you can. Because he responds with super
- 33:18super wisdom. That's joke.
- 33:22But this drives us right back to where we were at the very
- 33:24beginning. The tongue is the most
- 33:29destructive force. In your family.
- 33:35In your church. Right.
- 33:38Life and death are in the power of the tongue Proverbs 18.
- 33:42First number 21, Whatever has potential for good, has the
- 33:45equal, but opposite potential for for evil.
- 33:51And so Paul. Picks up on this, not
- 33:55particularly job, but picks up on the whole theme of why people
- 34:01falsely accuse in life. So term would be a Colossians
- 34:05chapter 3. Paul picks up on this.
- 34:14He says in verse number one, therefore, if you have been
- 34:16raised up with Christ, keep seeking, the things above where
- 34:19Christ is seated, at the right hand of God, set your mind on
- 34:21things above, not on the things that are on the earth for, you
- 34:24have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
- 34:27When Christ, who is our life is revealed?
- 34:29Then you also will be revealed with him in glory Christ.
- 34:32Is our life right? When Christ who is our life is
- 34:35revealed you shall be revealed with him in glory.
- 34:38So in other words he says look you can't function Horizontally.
- 34:45Unless you are focused. Vertically.
- 34:51You can't function in the Earthly Realm.
- 34:54Unless you're focused on the Heavenly Realm.
- 34:58Very important. So we said it, first number 5,
- 35:01therefore consider the members of your Earthly body is dead to
- 35:05immorality, impurity passion, evil, desire, and greed, which
- 35:07amounts to idolatry for his because of these things, that
- 35:11the wrath of God will come upon the sons of Disobedience.
- 35:14And in them, you also, once walked when you were living in
- 35:19them, but now also, Put them all.
- 35:26Aside, put them off. And Paul, if you've read the
- 35:31book of Galatians or you've read the book of Colossians, you know
- 35:35that Paul has this putting off and put it on conversation, it's
- 35:43were dealing with clothes. and so, when When a Jew would be
- 35:51baptized, he would, he would strip down to almost nothing.
- 35:53And he'd walk down to the mikveh and once he come up out of the
- 35:56mikveh, he would be clothed in a white robe, right?
- 36:00All symbolic because the Bible says, in the book of Isaiah that
- 36:03that we are clothed in Robes of righteousness, the garments of
- 36:06God, symbolic of how what God does with us.
- 36:09When he clothes us with his righteousness, when he saves us
- 36:12from our sin, but there's this putting off and putting on of
- 36:19clothes. That exemplify the condition of
- 36:24your heart. So listen, what Paul says.
- 36:29He says this. Now, you also put them all
- 36:33aside. Now, what he does he's going to
- 36:35build from the inside out. He built from the inside out the
- 36:40motive behind, why people lie? so, he says, But the mall side,
- 36:47number one. Anger.
- 36:51Anger. Or gay is the word.
- 36:56It's a word that deals with a smoldering resentment on the
- 37:00inside, okay? Because this is where it all
- 37:02begins. There is this resentment there
- 37:05is this bitterness there, is this smoldering, that's going
- 37:08on, in the inside. That's what happened to
- 37:10Potiphar's wife. She was so angry and so bitter
- 37:14that she was scorned by Joe. I by Joseph, that he would not
- 37:19want to lie with her, she became bitter and angry on the inside.
- 37:23As Saul became bitter and angry on the inside, as the nation of
- 37:26Israel became bitter and angry on the inside.
- 37:29See, that's what all begins on the inside. put aside anger, he
- 37:35says, Wrath wrath is thumos, right?
- 37:41That is the the blurting out of what's on the inside.
- 37:46It's the, it's the volcanic eruption of the bitterness, on
- 37:50the anger. That's on the inside, right?
- 37:53It's just erupts. And then he says, malice that
- 37:58sekiya with deals with all forms of wickedness and evil.
- 38:02Why? Because once you resent someone
- 38:05and you become Her toward them, right?
- 38:08What happens is that all of a sudden what spills out of the
- 38:11mouth is a volcanic eruption of of Wrath.
- 38:18In all kinds of evil takes place.
- 38:22He says. Slander and abusive speech from
- 38:27your mouth. Slander.
- 38:33And slander and gossip are two words used, similarly in
- 38:36scripture but there's a difference.
- 38:39Gossip gossip collects secrets. And loves to pass them on to
- 38:46others. Slander.
- 38:50Makes up its own secrets and broadcast them wherever.
- 38:57They do the most harm. That's District slander and
- 39:04gossip. And what happens is because of
- 39:08the anger in the heart and the Wrath that's building because of
- 39:13the bitterness. That's there Comes This
- 39:16wickedness. Which leads to slander false
- 39:21accusations, right. And that he says, do not lie to
- 39:26one another, Why? Because at the base of every lie
- 39:33is a hatred for the one you're lying to or about, that's why.
- 39:39He builds it from the inside out from the internal part of a man.
- 39:45That's why he begins the way he does.
- 39:48Because he wants you to be able to deal with this in a proper
- 39:51way. And and we can do this because
- 39:55because we're Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we can do
- 39:58this. You know, he goes on to say
- 40:02this, do not lie to one another since you laid aside the old
- 40:05self with its evil practices and have put on the new self, who is
- 40:09being renewed to a true knowledge, according to the
- 40:12image of the one who created him.
- 40:14Do you understand that? There is a not an old man that
- 40:18exist within your new man. You know they're right there are
- 40:22some people believe where you have an old man and a new man,
- 40:24the old man's always talking the new man, and the new man saying
- 40:27no to the old, man, the old man. Should I get the new man to do
- 40:28this? No, no.
- 40:30We are not. Schizophrenic.
- 40:32All right. The old man was what crucified?
- 40:39It's dead. That's why you become a new
- 40:44creation. The old man is corrupt.
- 40:49The new man is made righteous in the eyes of God.
- 40:54See, you are either in Adam or in Christ, who is the second
- 41:00Adam? But you're not in both at the
- 41:03same time. You're the in Adam.
- 41:08Or you're in Christ because if you're in Christ, who is a
- 41:11second Adam, you no longer in Adam.
- 41:15There's no old man there. So then why do I have to lay
- 41:18aside these things and then what's happening?
- 41:20That's because you had the stench of the dead man.
- 41:23In you, the stench is still there.
- 41:26The smell is still there. And that's why you got to put
- 41:30off the smell, put off the old garments, put off those things
- 41:33that that work governing in controlling your life.
- 41:38And put on put on that, which is Honorable and true and pure and
- 41:44holy. Lovely.
- 41:48That's what you got to do. She had these three friends.
- 41:55Who are sitting around. The a sheep.
- 42:01Each one, fueling the other. With false accusations.
- 42:07With slanderous comments. With lies about job.
- 42:15And they grow with intensity as the conversations go because
- 42:19they got to convince job that he's wrong.
- 42:21You see, they are so upset that he that he won't see it their
- 42:25way. That in the depths of their
- 42:29hearts, they are so angry. Why?
- 42:34Because there's a hatred, that's there.
- 42:37For job. And they express it by the
- 42:40conversation they use against him.
- 42:46Eva Donna. Maybe in the privacy of your
- 42:50home. Maybe kids with their parents.
- 42:57Parents with their kids. Why is it husbands or husbands
- 43:00wives? Every one of us in the room has
- 43:03said things that we probably should have never said, probably
- 43:06too many times during the years of our marriage, right?
- 43:10Where's that come from? Comes from the, the inside of a
- 43:15man for what proceeds from the inside of the man, right?
- 43:19Christ tells us it's all the Slanders and the gossip in the
- 43:23anger. That's on the inside of a man
- 43:26comes from the heart of men are sick.
- 43:28That's not right with God. Hardest not confessed up with
- 43:32God. So, so how would we handle this
- 43:39individually? What would, what would we do to
- 43:44make sure that we are not involved in hating someone to
- 43:48the degree that I'm waiting to spread false accusations about
- 43:51them, even to their face lie to their face about what's going on
- 43:56to try to convince them that I'm right and they're wrong.
- 43:59Or somebody else that I'm right and they're wrong.
- 44:04How do you not lie? To one another.
- 44:11Well, first of all. You got to repent of the sin of
- 44:14line. Right?
- 44:17You got to repent of the sin of false accusations.
- 44:21You got to repent of the sin of slander.
- 44:24Now his friends never do this. Until God compels him to do it.
- 44:28At the end, they have to do it at the end because God makes
- 44:31them right. You don't do it, voluntarily.
- 44:37Not until they're confronted by. The Lord God of Israel.
- 44:42But we have the opportunity. To turn from our sin.
- 44:49And repent of our sin. You know what psalm?
- 44:54Psalm 51 says, right? Over in Psalm 51.
- 45:02David speaks verse number 6. It says, behold you desire truth
- 45:09in the innermost being David knew he lied.
- 45:19David lied about Bathsheba lied about Uriah.
- 45:25Why? Because down deep inside there
- 45:28was hatred for your Riot. Why?
- 45:30Because Uriah had something that he wanted, why do people lie?
- 45:35You have what they want and you are stopping them forgetting it.
- 45:39So I will do whatever I can to get you out of the way and I've
- 45:41got a lie about it. I will.
- 45:45And down deep. He hated your eye out. because
- 45:48your I had Bathsheba and he didn't He wanted Bathsheba.
- 45:53She says, behold you desire truth in the innermost being and
- 45:56in the hidden part, you will make me no wisdom Purify Me with
- 45:59hyssop and I will be clean, wash me, and I shall be whiter than
- 46:02snow. Make me hear joy and gladness
- 46:05that the bones which you have broken and rejoice, hide your
- 46:08face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities create in me.
- 46:11A clean heart, o God, renew a steadfast Spirit within me.
- 46:14Do not cast me away from your presence.
- 46:15Then I take your Holy Spirit from me.
- 46:17Restore to me the joy of your salvation you know, Joy.
- 46:22Can I have hatred in your heart and joy at the same time?
- 46:28And even had no joy. Or to obtain Joy, you, you must
- 46:33confess repent of your sin. so you repent from the sin of lying
- 46:42and then you have to request That God intervene and help you.
- 46:48Psalm 122 verse number to deliver my soul O.
- 46:54Lord from lying lips from a deceitful.
- 47:01Tom. The moment you think that you
- 47:04can do this yourself, you're back to square one again.
- 47:09You can't. You must request that the Lord
- 47:12step in and deliver you from a deceitful tongue from lying
- 47:16lips. But you going to do that.
- 47:19Once you've repented of You're lying, lips, your slanderous
- 47:24lips. The tongue that shows Discord
- 47:27among the Brethren the false accusations And then there were
- 47:33three. You need to recommit to loving
- 47:36your brother. You got to recommit to that.
- 47:42And would it be that that so far and eliphaz bildad would
- 47:45recommit themselves to doing what they came to do in the
- 47:48first place to, to mourn with him into the comfort him and to
- 47:51express her love for him? But as time went on, that was
- 47:55just such a far cry from what was in their hearts.
- 48:01They would say they love joke. They would say that.
- 48:05If they were here today, you could say, hey so far, do you
- 48:09love Joe? I'm there all night.
- 48:12I'm in a sheep with him, right? Of course, I love them.
- 48:16But you word say something, completely different.
- 48:20The words are the clearest indicator of your spiritual
- 48:22condition. More than anything else.
- 48:27What you say? Tells us what's on the inside.
- 48:33Bible says, in first John chapter 3, He Who hates?
- 48:41His brother. Is a murderer.
- 48:46That's pretty strong. He who hates his brother is a
- 48:49murderer. In no murderer, has eternal life
- 48:56in. Him.
- 49:00That would help us to rethink how we relate to one another,
- 49:02right? That we are to love one another
- 49:05to talk about acid a morning, let Brotherly Love continue.
- 49:10Don't be a stranger to you. Then you have to rely upon the
- 49:14spirit of God relations 5. Verse number 16, you can't can't
- 49:17walk in the flesh or you'll fulfill the lust of the flesh.
- 49:20You to walk in the spirit so you can rely upon the spirit of God.
- 49:22And then there were five. You got to remember the value
- 49:24that God places on truth. Remember the value that God
- 49:28places on Truth, God is a god of Truth.
- 49:32And God cares about truth. More than anything else.
- 49:41And sometimes we don't value the truth enough.
- 49:45That's why we lie. Because lying is his what we
- 49:48want immediately. so, will I Make a false accusation.
- 49:58slander, somebody For a moment, it makes us feel really good on
- 50:02the inside. But as Proverbs 26 says all
- 50:07you've done is roll the stone away, that's going to roll back
- 50:09up on you or dig a pit that you're one day be lying in.
- 50:17Lashley. You got to rest in God's
- 50:20sovereignty. This is joke.
- 50:24You got to rest in God's sovereignty.
- 50:27Why Proverbs chapter 16? Proverbs chapter 16 verse number
- 50:384. Says this.
- 50:42The Lord has made everything for its own purpose.
- 50:46Even the wicked for the day of evil.
- 50:52That speaks volumes. God made even potiphar wife for
- 50:59the day of evil. In Joseph's life.
- 51:06God made the nation of Israel. In Moses life.
- 51:16And God made Saul. The wicked person for the day of
- 51:22evil. For David's life.
- 51:26When people speak, all kinds of evil things against you.
- 51:31God is still in control. He's still running the show.
- 51:36Don't get all bent out of shape about it.
- 51:39Relax. God has made everything and
- 51:43everyone for a purpose. And he's made even the Wicked,
- 51:47Man. The Wicked Woman for the day of
- 51:49evil, So you can rest in the fact that God is Sovereign and
- 51:53he's ruling over all these things.
- 51:55And this is job, that's my job is so the sovereignty of God in
- 51:59the suffering of man, not just the sovereignty of God in the
- 52:02physical suffering of Joseph. But in the verbal suffering that
- 52:05he faces every day with this re friends, Got a sovereign in that
- 52:10as well. And Joe continues to sit
- 52:16continues to listen. He does not interrupt.
- 52:21To the conversations over. And then he speaks.
- 52:27And when he speaks, he speaks truth.
- 52:30Because truth says, light on error.
- 52:33And their conversation was filled with error.
- 52:37Like Proverbs 26 says, they have deceived their own hearts into
- 52:41thinking that what they're saying is true.
- 52:44That's because there is so much hatred in their hearts.
- 52:49Toward job. And therefore, they slandered
- 52:54him to his face. I'm sure there's others walked
- 52:59by and heard the conversation. They could hear what was going
- 53:01on. The job just sat and listened
- 53:06until it was time to turn to respond.
- 53:09Let's get the 21. It was spawned.
- 53:14It will cover that next week. Let's pray.
- 53:16Father, we thank you, Lord, for today and the opportunity you
- 53:19give us to look into your word, Lord, such good reminders.
- 53:23For all of us. Lord, that our lives are
- 53:26governed by truth and speak the truth and live the truth. and
- 53:31pray father, that we would not be numbered among those who
- 53:34would speak ill of someone else or slander, someone else or a
- 53:38think of things that would falsely accuse someone Maybe we
- 53:44truly love one another. To the point where we would
- 53:48speak the truth. Sometimes, the truth is
- 53:51difficult to hear. But it needs to be said. but
- 53:56needs to be said to the person, That needs to hear it.
- 54:03And our prayer father is that we wouldn't be like zophar or build
- 54:07a door eliphaz. This word is in the text.
- 54:11I mean, this is profitable for us.
- 54:14We need to learn from this. My prayer is that we would have
- 54:19learned, we would have grown. And we can begin to deal with
- 54:24things from a proper biblical perspective.
- 54:28None of us. None of us are perfect.
- 54:31None of us are, are completely in totally and wholly righteous,
- 54:35or we all sin, and you are a forgiving God.
- 54:39We're so grateful for your forgiveness, and it would maybe
- 54:43be willing to extend forgiveness to those who are slandered us
- 54:48spoken against us even in our own family. those who have we've
- 54:54lived with for years, who have turned against us, husband, or
- 54:58wife or son, or daughter, or Aunt, or uncle It may be just be
- 55:04forgiving kind of people knowing knowing that everything has a
- 55:11purpose. And you've even created the
- 55:15wicked person for the day of evil.
- 55:19Lord, you're in charge, maybe trust you only in Jesus name?
- 55:23Amen.
