- 0:22SPEAKER_00: When you think of a courageous person, who comes to mind?
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Maybe you think of somebody like civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe you think of an explorer like Neil Armstrong or Magellan.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Maybe you think of somebody who's fighting their way through a serious illness.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Or maybe you think of a single parent you know who's bravely raising their kids without the help of a partner.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: All these people are very different, but they do have one thing in common, and that is they were afraid, but they acted anyway.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: They did what was necessary to rise above their circumstances and do what needed to be done.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Now there's a pretty good chance, I imagine, that you're facing some fears also.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's that book that you're afraid to write and publish.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's that blog that you're afraid to start.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's simply writing on social media or speaking at that first event or starting a podcast.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Mark Twain once wrote, Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Well, the truth is that you can still be afraid and yet take action.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: In fact, your fear can be the very thing that propels you to action.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: So whatever has you running scared, turn around and run the other direction straight toward it.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: A big thanks to today's sponsor, The Word Wizard.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: You may have written a great book, but it's not ready for publication until it's been in the hands of a master editor.
