- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Well,
- 0:06Speaker 1: here's the best columnist in America, Michael Goodwin. You can
- 0:10Speaker 1: read his column every Sunday and every Wednesday in the
- 0:14Speaker 1: New York Post. And all of his columns are up
- 0:17Speaker 1: on the New York Post website if you want to
- 0:18Speaker 1: read them. And he's with us now. Michael Goodwin, how
- 0:21Speaker 1: you doing?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark. Thank you.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Hey, I love this column about... Hakeem Jeffries meets with
- 0:29Speaker 1: Jared Kushner, and apparently they have a long relationship. He
- 0:32Speaker 1: was there first term, and so why would the Democrats
- 0:36Speaker 1: melt down over this meeting?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Well, there's no logical answer, Mark. It's really, I think,
- 0:44Speaker 2: just a sign of the radicalization of the Democratic Party.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Of course, the progressive members are driving that, but the
- 0:55Speaker 2: The other members are quaking in fear of it. And
- 0:58Speaker 2: so when Jeffries dares to meet with the devil, the
- 1:03Speaker 2: representative of the devil, you have to erupt. You have
- 1:08Speaker 2: to accuse Jeffries of making a mistake because otherwise you're
- 1:14Speaker 2: seen as being soft on Trump and you're being mainstream
- 1:19Speaker 2: and you're being establishment. You're being a corporate Democrat. and
- 1:23Speaker 2: you're taking money from AIPAC. All these things just fall
- 1:28Speaker 2: off the lips of the radicals and puts Jeffries on
- 1:33Speaker 2: defense for simply holding a member, holding a meeting with
- 1:39Speaker 2: President Trump's son-in-law and advisor. I mean, it's looting tunes.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah, don't these guys, these Schumers and Jeffries and these types,
- 1:49Speaker 1: trying to appease them and bow down to them, don't
- 1:52Speaker 1: they realize these socialists, they're going to throw them overboard
- 1:55Speaker 1: at some point?
- 1:57Speaker 2: Oh, sure. Look, I mean, that's the, I write about
- 2:01Speaker 2: the Justice Democrats email, which talks about Jeffries and Schumer
- 2:07Speaker 2: just being the old mainstream corporate Democrats. And they want
- 2:12Speaker 2: to throw them over. Look, they don't have the numbers yet.
- 2:17Speaker 2: But what they do have in our system is that
- 2:21Speaker 2: you can stymie the majority. Even if Democrats take the House,
- 2:26Speaker 2: will the majority stick together? Or will it be a
- 2:31Speaker 2: civil war in the Democrats? I mean, I think that's
- 2:34Speaker 2: what we're witnessing right now. Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 1: You quote this podcast, Jared Kushner has no actual government job.
- 2:44Speaker 1: That's not true. He's the chief negotiator. That's a pretty
- 2:48Speaker 1: big job.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah. I guess he's not on the White House roster
- 2:56Speaker 2: of paid employees or confirmed. I mean, the president has
- 3:01Speaker 2: lots of leeway. And obviously, Jared Kushner has his ear.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And it came out later and didn't get much attention.
- 3:10Speaker 2: But the meeting was because Kushner and Jeffries had worked
- 3:17Speaker 2: together on prison reforms in Trump's first term, which is
- 3:22Speaker 2: a big issue for both. But the Democrats quickly forgot
- 3:26Speaker 2: that because Kushner is a Trump person, therefore you cannot
- 3:31Speaker 2: talk to him. I mean, even the crazy James Carvel
- 3:35Speaker 2: broke new ground in that front.
- 3:38Speaker 1: But, I don't know, these socialists, they just want, what
- 3:43Speaker 1: do they just want? Revolution, blood? What are they really
- 3:46Speaker 1: after if they don't want to talk?
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Well, power. It starts with power, right? And
- 3:51Speaker 2: I think that's what the Democratic Party has failed to
- 3:56Speaker 2: reckon with. They tried to meet them partway on some things.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I mean, take Kathy Hochul, for example, in New York,
- 4:05Speaker 2: how the governor has gone along with Mayor Mahtani, one
- 4:09Speaker 2: of the socialists, probably the highest-ranking socialist. And what has
- 4:16Speaker 2: Hochul done with that? She's ended up just doing dumb
- 4:20Speaker 2: things that could backfire on her and her election candidates.
- 4:25Speaker 2: So if you try to modify or work with the socialists,
- 4:30Speaker 2: they're going to just co-opt you, and you're never going
- 4:33Speaker 2: to be able to satisfy them. They don't want to
- 4:36Speaker 2: fix the system. They want to destroy the system. And
- 4:41Speaker 2: the mainstream Democrats, what's left of them, have to come
- 4:45Speaker 2: to grips with that reality.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Hey, when they talk about seizing the means of production,
- 4:51Speaker 1: as soon as they get a hold of the means
- 4:52Speaker 1: of production, all they do is... I mean, these grocery stores,
- 4:57Speaker 1: Mamdani's grocery store, we'll never see these. Everything he proposes
- 5:00Speaker 1: never actually happens. How would they control production?
- 5:04Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing, because they don't want to build anything.
- 5:09Speaker 2: They just want to destroy. And that's why wherever socialism
- 5:15Speaker 2: has full power, people have starved, right? The decline of
- 5:22Speaker 2: living standards is remarkable. I mean, it's why so much
- 5:27Speaker 2: of the world is behind for a century of capitalism,
- 5:35Speaker 2: free markets, free ideas, free expression. Those are the things
- 5:41Speaker 2: that feed more people, that protect more people, get people
- 5:45Speaker 2: more opportunity. The land of opportunity, right? That's what America is.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And where are they coming from? They're coming from socialist
- 5:53Speaker 2: countries who do not have opportunity.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, November, Election Day, don't you think the Democrats
- 6:02Speaker 1: are going to get a rude awakening that they went
- 6:04Speaker 1: way too far?
- 6:07Speaker 2: I don't know, Mark. I'm not confident. I'm just reading
- 6:10Speaker 2: the real clear politics. And it's looking increasingly like... the
- 6:17Speaker 2: Democrats have the edge going into the midterms in both
- 6:21Speaker 2: the Senate and House races. If that were to be
- 6:26Speaker 2: the case, then I think if they were to take
- 6:29Speaker 2: both houses, that would make for a very difficult two
- 6:33Speaker 2: years for President Trump. And there's no question that impeachment
- 6:40Speaker 2: would be high on the list. Investigations over and over.
- 6:45Speaker 2: So I think there's a lot at stake in this
- 6:48Speaker 2: midterm elections. And if you recall, back in 2018, which
- 6:54Speaker 2: was the midterm of President Trump's first term, the Democrats,
- 6:59Speaker 2: the far-left Democrats took over the state Senate in New York,
- 7:05Speaker 2: among other institutions, and wrecked the New York. That's when
- 7:09Speaker 2: all the taxes started going up, the attack on energy.
- 7:14Speaker 2: drove up fuel prices, the green this, the green that.
- 7:18Speaker 2: So there's a lot of downstream results if Democrats make Congress.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Wow. Well, everybody go read Michael Goodwin's column. It's up
- 7:27Speaker 1: on the New York Post website. You can read him
