- 1:19face of the earth and the people on it. Before the war, Frank

- 1:26and Tagger of the Oss And when it was over, his former life was
- 1:30over too. Adventure had become his business, the Adventures of Frank Race.

- 2:00Jones Beach and the Portable Radio That's the only logical escape from a sultray summer
- 2:06night and the breathless heat of a Manhattan apartments. Lying there on the sand
- 2:09with Mark Dunovan. I took my comfort and saw us from the radio by
- 2:14out one of the classic Biden stations, which featured a fine pianist addicted to
- 2:19Beethoven. Look, I know it's hard enough for everybody to be dead,
- 2:29but we also got to listen to this funeral news market at times, and
- 2:31I think you have no soul. And there are times when I think you've
- 2:35got no ease. There's long hair stuff whenever I'm up. Anything. Well,
- 2:38you've got to do is twin a little dial and get some real music.
- 2:42Cab callowe. You just touch that dial and I'll break your arm.
- 2:45Okay, Okay. If you don't want people to think you're a square,
- 2:50you better get weird or a those program or a special news back que Mark
- 2:53stay prisoner Poles, who had been keeping the story under wraps, just admitted
- 2:57that Blackie Mark, convicted murderer, made his escape from state prison early this
- 3:01evening, just a few hours before his scheduled execution. Cow officials finally released
- 3:07the story when local police disposed that Judge Robin Dexter, who presided at Martin's
- 3:13trial and who sentenced the bank hold up killer to the electric chair, was
- 3:16found dead in his chambers at the courthouse just a few moments ago. At
- 3:21the time of his sentence, Martin swore in the courtroom that he would escape
- 3:23and kill the judge and juryman and the witnesses who appeared against him. Stay
- 3:29tuned to the station for further development. All right, Mark TENI Brunn that
- 3:32Blackie Martin is sure not to playoff. He ain't Westing old time. No,
- 3:36he isn't. Means a lot of people wouldn't be sleeping tonight. Even
- 3:39it was cool with that guy after him. He said he'd get his wife
- 3:45a turned against him and Graham e columnist and holy cow race yo yo.
- 3:51He said he was going to kill you tool for bringing him in mind,
- 3:53I'm sure I'm right up near the top of Blackie Martin's list. You better
- 3:58drive me home. A man already convicted of murder doesn't have much to lose.
- 4:09I kept thinking of that as Mark drove me back to town. Martin
- 4:13strangled a bank night watchman and another life or two. Either way, it
- 4:15wasn't going to make much difference to him. But by the time I got
- 4:18home, most of my thoughts concerned the thank you, I'll sleep welcome home.
- 4:28Race. I am invited guests to see it comfortably in an armchair in
- 4:30an open window, if you had to be completely relaxed except for his right
- 4:34hand just clasping the forty five very tightly. And I could see the bluebo
- 4:39games posting in this surprise race. Well not exactly black a man, but
- 4:45who has been getting your exploits complete coverage? I didn't like it up the
- 4:48river. You shouldn't have been so impatient you going out tonight anyhow, I'm
- 4:53so lazy tonight I'd want to walk that last miles too. Wow to be
- 4:58electric citing. If I hadn't be warmer. Here there's a dragon that out
- 5:01for you all over town. I'm not in it yet, and stop engineering
- 5:05that desk. If you want to sit down, sit over there, or
- 5:10I can watch it thanks to the hospitality, even if it is my own
- 5:15home. I want some information racing. Where's my wife all the way?
- 5:17I don't know. I haven't seen since try. She isn't singing any of
- 5:20the clubs around town, not any of the ones she used to play.
- 5:24I've been checking them on the phone while I'm waiting for you. I got
- 5:27something to settle with that day. Never was Nancy plans to get married again
- 5:30Black him after you're eliminated someone else? What are you? What are you
- 5:36jumping? You didn't see her, Obert Walker Graham columnist, to cover your
- 5:41trail, that's it. That's why she spilled the story of that bank job
- 5:46to the Yellow paper. Works for that don't get job with that gun.
- 5:48That's all of the phone, all right, they're used to the sound.
- 5:54There's no phone service at that hotel up the river. All right, all
- 5:59right, answer he would be careful. Hello, all right, No,
- 6:05Mark, what is it? I just want to let you know so you
- 6:09could sleep good s. You don't have to worry about Black anymore. That's
- 6:14very interesting, Mark. Yeah, the cops you got the courthouse. There's
- 6:16a guineal of tie. They're sure he's still in at some place. So
- 6:20aren't you worry? Pal Hereday, Yeah, thanks, feeling a bit of
- 6:25faint until you reassured me. Tell me Mark, Jeffy finished that may alot.
- 6:29Of course you were taking on hypnotism. Hello, Yeah, I was
- 6:34just wondering if you could give me some instructions on how to hypnotize a man
- 6:38with a forty five automatic in his head. You're looking right, hello,
- 6:46hello, right, hello, right, come on, come on race snap,
- 7:02all right, yeah, it was gonna have two heads. What happened?
- 7:06What happened? Blackie Martin? He's here when I got home. I
- 7:11try to tip me on the phone and he's stand backing. Oh, brother
- 7:15one, they didn't try to polish you off. I would have made his
- 7:17score three for the night. Three. Yeah, you mean there's been a
- 7:20second woman. That's right, there's Farmers stick. Where's on the air?
- 7:25Driving over here? It again? Nobody on the list. He's an old
- 7:28lady and missus she housekey or something like that. Scrub woman on the fourth
- 7:32floor of the courthouse. Fun her in a broom closet, shot just like
- 7:36Judge dext M. And she must have heard the shot in the judge's chamber
- 7:41and went into an investigator. She saw the killer in the hall and he
- 7:44knocked the row for she could raise the house. Mark called one of the
- 7:46news commentators and find out Wheressus Jakoski living. If she had any family,
- 7:49then he could drive me out to him. What race? She wasn't connected
- 7:53with the trial. She was just an innocent bystander who got it in the
- 7:56neck. I know, Mark That's why I'm curious, very curious. There
- 8:09are some people who die without reasoning, mister CASKI the old scrub woman had
- 8:13been one of them. Talking to a daughter wasn't easy. But why why
- 8:22would anybody want to hurt my mother? You never heard nobody? She was
- 8:26a good woman. I'm sorry, mister Cask, but other people in danger
- 8:30too. I need to help to protect. What can I do? What
- 8:35do you want to know all about your mother? Who she knew? Any
- 8:37friends? Random? Is anything? Could you have enemies? She works all
- 8:43night scrubbing in the court has ever since she came to this country, and
- 8:46in the daytime she would sleep or stay around the house always. She had
- 8:52no friends at work. I don't know nobody who ever came here, I
- 8:56don't think so why not? She couldn't speak no English? Think you ought
- 9:03to stok poliship you speak English? One am. My father brought me here
- 9:07when I was twelve years old. She only came from the old country four
- 9:13months ago, only four months ago. Yes, when my father died,
- 9:18I sent a little insurance managed to come here and she went to work in
- 9:22the courthouse. I know naturally your mother couldn't read her like no, not
- 9:33even in Polish. She had no education at all. Why why did kill
- 9:41her mother? It's one of the answers I'm looking for, mister Casey,
- 9:46because I don't think black he mut and killed your mother. I don't think
- 9:50he's killed anybody. Yea, look, Race, it's all right. He
- 10:07is to have a hunch seat when you tell me that you don't think Blackie
- 10:11Martin has anything to do with their murders at the courthouse. We don't make
- 10:16sense a lot of things about this case that doesn't make sense. Morder what
- 10:20Race? You always told me a murder has got to have a motive.
- 10:24Now you tell me, Tommy, who else had a motive for knocking off
- 10:26the judge? Anson? You can't answer moments right now. I want to
- 10:31make sure that all the possible victims are limited. How you I made up
- 10:37a list of the names and addresses Wine he was in there. I'll take
- 10:39you to the places one by one, and this house up the block for
- 10:43being on point step who lives here? Him? Let me see Timothy Ill.
- 10:50I wish so Brian, it was deformative. Joy, come on in
- 10:54with me. I'll start Rice. It's midnight, you know it was just
- 11:03the same O'Brien should go to the police and ask to be taken into protective
- 11:05custody until this is over. Yeah right, m no sign of life.
- 11:18Maybe you already want that dot. Let's make sure him right? Hey,
- 11:28they did it? Look a light went on the back of the wall.
- 11:31Brian sleeps to the deep sleep of the pure of heart, considering his place
- 11:35on a list of people who might never wake up. Man, here he
- 11:37comes. Now, know what you want. My name is Race Blackie Martin's
- 11:43escape from prison and you may be in danger him. I want you to
- 11:46go to the police station and stay there until he's caught. Can you walk
- 11:50me up from that look at the fifth want to protect me? Get him
- 11:52from the man over and he can shape on the doorstep. Alright, Brian,
- 11:56I can't force you into it, but don't open the door so easily.
- 12:00Live. Anybody else should come calling to man, i'd be thought honders
- 12:03live. I won't even hear him then, good night, good night.
- 12:07He's sorry, better drive me too. The precinct station house man I asked
- 12:13him to send a man over right away. I wish I knew where the
- 12:16fan blank his wife. I'm sure she's number one and it's hit for Oh,
- 12:22maybe she's singing one of the smaller joys. Happy. We can make
- 12:26the rounds of a few spots later on him. Hi, what's there?
- 12:31Shot inside of the house? Come on, I can won't help this time
- 12:37smashing him, but it must be back here with the life Mann before.
- 12:46Yeah, I must be lighter matter any money badly right through the test mine
- 12:56dead. Hey, there's something more. That's the match. Keep a rand
- 13:01that drape at the window while look out Mark. We'll return to the adventures
- 13:16of Frank Race in just about one minute. And now back to the Adventures
- 13:31of Frank Race. One of the bullets that hit Mark and they fell in
- 13:41front of me, blocking my die for the blows behind the drapes. By
- 13:45the time I recovered, the person responsible for the murder of Brian was gone.
- 13:50I picked Mark up Parliament into his cab my speed picked up a cruising
- 13:52motorcycle cop and in a matter of seconds he was transformed into a flying escort
- 13:56for a city emergency hospital. I'm sorry you stopped that Bulletmark meant for me
- 14:03right better? My shoulder, your head he look black when he flay Man.
- 14:11You got clean away. I should wash up your idea that somebody else
- 14:16might be going to kill him. There's Dexton and O'Brien is up with only
- 14:20one guy. That guy's black, and Mark doesn't never the field done.
- 14:26It isn't black, he's somebody else connected with the games. There's one big
- 14:30question that still needs an answer. That's that black. He had me cold
- 14:33turkey at the apartment when I'm on his list? Why didn't he pay me
- 14:37off? Wow? Maybe passed you up once, but he just trying to
- 14:41make up for it. And you're gonna make sure he doesn't kill you when
- 14:46you're trying to prove he didn't kill the others. Here's the hospitals. Well,
- 14:54he had a motorcycle cop and the young doctor. I got Mark into
- 14:56the operating well. I showed the cop not convential. Wasn't explained the SA
- 15:00up. He left to make a report while the doctor went to work in
- 15:01Mark. If you can't do that makes me sick, I can that helps
- 15:09cut the pros away? Mark trying to think I'm driving around Tom happens you've
- 15:13seen some sign of Lolan Martin singing something. Ah No, maybe she changed
- 15:20your name, Loland Martin. I yuess doctor. No, there's a girl
- 15:24named Lola singing at the Tiger Roll. I hang off at the in turn
- 15:28is frequent over on tenth Avenue. You read him on the cervacious son on
- 15:35the curvaceous side, all right, but a blonde that put the rock side
- 15:39right and ready for the meeting? Yeah, read if you are. I'll
- 15:46take a hold on a second. We can prove for that slug. Oh
- 15:52that's Lola the Tiger Room, right, But get going. You still got
- 15:54some time. No waiting the little doctor finishes, I can show the him
- 15:58now, I'm just gonna hurt you. So anyhow, I'd almost got it
- 16:07all time. Yeah, Mark, Mark, he's passed out for that child.
- 16:17Here's a slug pretty eight caliber. Wow, So it is my hunt
- 16:25is pain? Or was it the last I saw Blackie Martin? You're carrying
- 16:30a forty five? Tell my friend that when it comes to Some of the
- 16:41patrons of the Tiger Room looked like in terms, but the rest looked like
- 16:44they might be in the business turning beastan citizens into Antiman's cases. The singer
- 16:48on the floor was Lola Martineau, and he was just finishing a song.
- 16:52So I took a seat at a corner table al marker Graham the man having
- 17:00tad? What brings an ace columnist to this den of a nego day,
- 17:03I'm worried about with Blackie on the loose, not a do some personal worrying
- 17:07tip your printer. It was one of the things that helped send Blackie on
- 17:10that one way trim. At least was supposed to be one win. I
- 17:12know what about you. You brought him in, yes, but I didn't
- 17:17start wooing his wife as soon as they threw him in the cooler. Why
- 17:19I can't leave them without protection. I'll say the secret down safe, put
- 17:22your waste. I hope you don't think it's yellow with me. To take
- 17:26a part of what I don't think of you isn't important. She'll be back
- 17:30here in a moment. I tell her I got an important call. Well
- 17:33you sure, I'll tell you went to play pinball with Blackie? Yeah?
- 17:37Yeah, thanks, Race, don't mention it. Wow, mister Race,
- 17:45A nice w was walking heading in such a high I think you heard the
- 17:49grim Reaper swishing his sickle to them. Thanks automate, than lady, were
- 17:57you waiting? I think lady for them? Let him and now a cigarette.
- 18:08Yeah, yeah, like you like my rest much. Walker Gray and
- 18:15usually takes care of these little things. Not that you are in a pleasant
- 18:21substitute, weather Man. Walker became quite attentive after black Is trial. But
- 18:27you're the one I was hoping i'd see you again. If you want to
- 18:30see anybody again, you'd better take yourself out of circulation into the black Is
- 18:33taken back into custody. I can't. I'm gonna tell you if I'm all
- 18:40right, Race, Why because the money of the Blackie store was never recovered.
- 18:45You and Walker Graham haven't stashed away someplace. You've got to be out
- 18:48and moving around to make sure that neither black Ee the police get to the
- 18:52money. You're smart, but this town is too hot for Blackie to be
- 18:56on the loose much longer. There are a lot of people who wants to
- 19:00get to I'll take a chance if he doesn't get to me before he's caught.
- 19:04I've got news. Be alone. You're Blackie's number one target. You
- 19:10aren't gonna bother with anybody else against you. That isn't what the news reports
- 19:14tell me. He's killed crazy, Do you mean, Judge Dexter, No,
- 19:17Bryant can't black. He didn't kill him. Who told you that a
- 19:21murdered scrub woman? Does a black head killed a judge? Missus Dacosky was
- 19:26still ali Why but she caught him there? She could be a witness against
- 19:30him. A man already convicted of a murder wouldn't be afraid of a witness
- 19:33to a second. But missus Dacosky wasn't even in this country when black he
- 19:37was convicted. What are you trying to prove that? She wouldn't have been
- 19:41able to even recognize him. She couldn't read, She couldn't have read about
- 19:45him. So whoever she saw leaving the judges chambers or somebody should see before
- 19:51somebody knew like me. For instance, you saw Judge Dexter a couple of
- 19:57times. They have dinner with him. There's no law. Don't know you
- 20:00were known around the corners. I don't have to listen to your race.
- 20:04Don't he a moment ago? He was so happy to see me. I
- 20:08hope Blackie sees you next, I really hope. So good night, mister
- 20:15Ray talked out of me before I could stop I so I called that leaders
- 20:23please lieutendant friend of mine who happened to be in charge of the man hunt
- 20:26for black and London. I told him where he could locate Lolo, and
- 20:30I went home and turned into come on, come on, come on,
- 20:34Rich, wake up, wake up? Would you you look happy, my
- 20:38preferend dramm. I'm sure fine, friend, and I am getting the chuck
- 20:44a lot of having the laugh. Fine, you'll proch look at his snooth.
- 20:48Hey back, I just picked up. I don't know. I can
- 20:52never focus my eyes before breakfast. I'm saying says that you are wrong about
- 20:57Blackymot. He shot and killed his wife Lola in the Times Square subway station
- 21:03at two am this morning, in front of twenty eyewitness Let me see that
- 21:11finally, Peter, that's what it says, Masco and fight the more.
- 21:15There was just a flash on the radio. The police have Blackie steaked out
- 21:18in an empty warehouse over by the water. Let me jump into some clothes
- 21:22and you can drive me over there. Here we are, race. This
- 21:37is the finish for Blackie. Market Graham, Come on, hello, Graham.
- 21:45Oh hello, Well he got at after all. I know. I'm
- 21:49sorry. They're going to be married. I guess this winds it up though,
- 21:53won't hurt anybody else where. He sell of that belly. It's full
- 21:57of stars and Benson. He's got the doorway cover they sent for equipment of
- 22:00smoke knock proving to her lieutenant to leave us, and it comes down.
- 22:03Hello Graham, Race, Hello lieutenant, Hello him. He's like having a
- 22:08little trouble. Oh I could get up my head. Oh but why don't
- 22:11that risk losing a man? He can't get out. One of the orders
- 22:14shoots kill him. I don't like it, but that's it. He's dangerous.
- 22:18Ed. I want you to do me a favorite pull back. You
- 22:21please line to the other side of the street and let me go in after
- 22:22it. Are you tired of living? Race? You know I'm not an
- 22:26idiot, Ed, and I'm playing a hand. Well, all right,
- 22:30Race, I'll chip in with him. Say sergeant, sergeant one, move
- 22:33those men back, all right? Go back? Then? Hell they are
- 22:37Race, it's all your No, No, I don't do it. Race,
- 22:41He'll kill you for sure. What a column this will make. Are
- 22:44you see Mark? You wouldn't want to spoil Graham's column? Would you see
- 22:48you later? Him? Now, this is Frank Race Black Game. I'm
- 22:57coming down to talk to you. Who I a wonderful bargain. When you
- 23:03go away, missed me black hem I mean, and you can't see me
- 23:11any better than I can see you. There's no light on that dog closed.
- 23:18I'll find you're not killing. Maybe you're a sense to die in here
- 23:22unless you listen to him. All right, Grace, I'm listening. What
- 23:26talk. Here's my proposition like him. I want you to Hey, he's
- 23:38been down there a long time. I'm afraid black he got him as once
- 23:44without doing smoker quick miss hey shut hello, Soli dots moving with that dog
- 23:52covered man. All your fire up the red race all right, nice work,
- 23:56race, come out, hold that crowd, backer man, I love.
- 24:00Look, look he got Blackie's carrying him off to give this body into
- 24:03the warehouse opposite right, Come on you can come in too, Graham and
- 24:08call your paper, you boys heavy dump him here into the wagon comes.
- 24:15Thanks for a great story, Race, I better call it before the deadline.
- 24:18Hold it a minute. The story is bigger than you think. What
- 24:21do you mean? Who would a man try to kill first Graham and judge
- 24:25who was only doing his job, or a wife who doubled crust him.
- 24:29Well, I guess Slola was the main one body the others. First,
- 24:32No, I didn't because Blackie didn't kill the others. The person who killed
- 24:36the others had to kill missus Jacobski too, because you recognized him with somebody
- 24:41who went to the courthouse every day, somebody like you right covering the beat.
- 24:45Your pick? What motive would I have a killing judge? Because you
- 24:52thought he was wise to you and Lula that's why she was shining up to
- 24:56him. You picked the other murders and make the police redouble the refort to
- 24:59get black and Suli Man said, thank you haven't got a shred of proke.
- 25:03Race, I did, and I am. I think you have to
- 25:07prove on him. I belie you'd call up a gun, the gun to
- 25:08kill three people. See Blacky Martin's gun is of forty five a gun.
- 25:15I'll move back all of you, not that gun, Grahame, I said,
- 25:18moved back on Ton and I know how to use us. Let's be
- 25:22smart. Look kind of thought like a man says, I'm going out that
- 25:25door. I had to stop. Well, don't leave without saying good by
- 25:29the Blackie. He's right behind you and he still has it. Forty dead
- 25:33men. Don't worry me, Race I ain't so dead, how should call
- 25:37her from? Man's going black? Hem? Now you might as well give
- 25:47the gun back to me. Since well, Race, we won't have much
- 25:56trouble taken him. And thanks Blackie, you still have a date? Would
- 26:00elected chair yourself? I'm ready. I don't mind now, as long as
- 26:04I know that Graham is going to be practically sitting in my lap when they
- 26:10turn on the juice coming on down in the cellar Race. I knew Graham
- 26:14was guilt in. I knew black he didn't want to die and let Graham
- 26:17get away, So I sold him on this little leg father for my money,
- 26:23you get your cat and the award. Thanks Mark, and let's get
- 26:27this unconscious asking of the police. Date. Love, very hot day.
- 26:36No, I'll never kids less sleep. The Adventures are Frank Race starring Tom
