- 0:00Speaker 1: We have a question, and it's going out to all
- 0:02Speaker 1: the couples here at Light FM. You can call us.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The phones are open, 1-800-222-1067. And what is that simple question?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Do you leave the bathroom door open when your partner's
- 0:12Speaker 2: in there? This comes up from time to time in
- 0:14Speaker 2: their surveys done, and they find that more and more
- 0:18Speaker 2: couples are doing this. They're not bothering to close the
- 0:22Speaker 2: bathroom door. They're just leaving it open.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Let it rip.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Having a conversation. they say this is actually very healthy
- 0:30Speaker 2: according to psychologists. It means I accept you bodily functions
- 0:34Speaker 2: at all. It's not about lacking boundaries. It's about having
- 0:38Speaker 2: enough trust to eliminate unnecessary ones.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you, in that case, there's a lot
- 0:44Speaker 3: of trust in our family.
- 0:47Speaker 1: We try to close the door, but the kids have.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Changed all the dynamics.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You don't get any alone time anymore, and Nine times
- 0:57Speaker 1: out of ten, the doors open and things are just flying.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Oh, boy. And, yeah, we're kind of cool with it.
- 1:07Speaker 3: We're kind of desensitized to it now.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Even Coco?
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah?
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:12Speaker 3: She's, again, look, I don't hang and linger. Right. If
- 1:16Speaker 3: she's doing her business.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 3: But if the doors open, I may grab what I
- 1:21Speaker 3: need and leave.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Never mind me.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Or you know what I do sometimes? I'll just shut
- 1:25Speaker 1: the door for her. And then lo and behold, Naomi
- 1:28Speaker 1: or Miles will open it again. Like if we're all together,
- 1:30Speaker 1: that happens a lot.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So all four of you were in there and Coco's
- 1:34Speaker 2: doing her thing.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Now you've been, you've been with Eric now for how
- 1:37Speaker 3: many years?
- 1:38Speaker 2: You know what? It's going to be nine years.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Coming up on nine years.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:41Speaker 3: And to this day, if the door's shut, you know,
- 1:44Speaker 3: there's no barging in. Yeah. Door's always shut, never open.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I still am like, no, no, no, no, no. You know,
- 1:51Speaker 2: like there's been a couple of times where he's like,
- 1:53Speaker 2: Like you, you know, can I just run in and
- 1:54Speaker 2: grab somebody? Because you just... No, wait.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Just.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Right. You know, or even like talking to each other
- 1:59Speaker 2: through the door. We used to not do that. Maybe
- 2:02Speaker 2: we're a little bit better with that, but.
- 2:04Speaker 3: What about the shower? Like if you're showering.
- 2:06Speaker 2: If somebody's in the shower and you need to step
- 2:10Speaker 2: in and grab something, yes. But I would prefer not
- 2:14Speaker 2: to have that. I don't know. I just still want
- 2:17Speaker 2: the privacy. But like I'm not... We have that ability.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Like you said, it's different. You're in a different situation.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And I prefer the privacy, too. But, you know, sometimes,
- 2:29Speaker 1: especially when you're just sitting there.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Doing your business. I would want to still be alone. Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Let's take our little poll here.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:37Speaker 3: You can text us at 44363 or call 1-800-222-1067. In
- 2:38Speaker 3: a relationship, are you cool with the door open? Are
- 2:41Speaker 3: you free like that?
- 2:48Speaker 2: I mean, more power to you if you feel like that.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I know. If you had to guess, what do you think?
- 2:52Speaker 1: It's 70% shut the door, 30% are like.
- 2:58Speaker 2: No, I think it's going to be more people just
- 2:59Speaker 2: leave the door open at this point. Really? Yeah, not
- 3:02Speaker 2: even on purpose, but just don't worry about it.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Light FM, you're live on the air. What's your name? Jose. Jose. Hi, Jose.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Are you chiming in about our topic here?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Yes. I like to think that I let my door close.
- 3:23Speaker 4: A little privacy goes a long way.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But if the door opens and you're sitting there doing
- 3:29Speaker 1: your business, do you freak out or is it just
- 3:31Speaker 1: kind of like open and shut in your house?
- 3:37Speaker 2: Uh.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Sometimes I freak out a little. Yeah. You want your privacy.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Especially when I'm trying to do a number two.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Well, yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 2: That's definitely... We could use some private time right there.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Exactly. And that's what we don't get, really, with the kids.
- 3:54Speaker 3: It's kind of always open.
- 3:56Speaker 2: And you can text us, too. 44363.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Is anybody chiming in on text?
- 4:00Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 4:00Speaker 1: We're getting more calls than we are on text. People
- 4:04Speaker 1: want to talk about it. It's therapy for them. Let's
- 4:08Speaker 1: do one more. I know we should go to break,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but you know, what the heck?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Living on the edge.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Yeah, living on the edge. Highlight FM, who is this?
- 4:15Speaker 4: This is Dory.
- 4:16Speaker 2: How are you?
- 4:17Speaker 3: How are you? Hi, Dory. Are you chiming in about
- 4:19Speaker 3: our topic?
- 4:21Speaker 4: I sure am, absolutely. We are doors open. We actually,
- 4:25Speaker 4: in one of our bathrooms, took a door off.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Just took it off? Wow.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Because it was even worth going, like, shutting and closing
- 4:33Speaker 3: all the time.
- 4:35Speaker 1: That opened into the bathroom and just the space was,
- 4:38Speaker 1: it just was, just take it off.
- 4:40Speaker 4: We don't need it.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Wow. Okay.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So if you're doing your business and you're sitting there,
- 4:45Speaker 1: it's very just normal for someone to come in and
- 4:49Speaker 1: walk out.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Very normal. Very normal for the two of us.
- 4:52Speaker 2: You know, we don't have.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Children, but we have a million great nieces and nephews.
- 4:56Speaker 2: But when they're over.
- 4:58Speaker 4: They call me Gigi.
- 4:58Speaker 3: They're like, Gigi, why is the door open?
- 5:00Speaker 4: Close the door, Gigi.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, you're right, you're right.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Well, thank you for calling.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Thank you so much. We are starting to get some
- 5:09Speaker 2: text messages, Cubby. 44363. Door closed. Married 43 years. Door closed.
- 5:17Speaker 2: 52 years married. Doors closed. Doors have to be closed.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Prefer closed. There's some things I can't say.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Stay shut. We have one, three, four, seven door open
- 5:28Speaker 2: 30 plus years. We are getting more closed rather than
- 5:31Speaker 2: open at the moment.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Well, we know where you stand. You're closed and the
- 5:35Speaker 3: Bryant family wide open.
- 5:37Speaker 1: What do you have coming up in the news, Christine?
- 5:40Speaker 2: Let's check out the headlines. And I think this is
- 5:41Speaker 2: kind of cute. Pet owners ask AI questions about their pets.
- 5:45Speaker 2: What's the most frequently asked questions?
