- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to ACC Football Addiction.
- 0:02Speaker 2: I'm going to talk a little FSU big picture, how
- 0:05Speaker 2: that is impacting the future in recruiting with my buddy
- 0:09Speaker 2: Zach over at 24-7 Sports.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Recently, new role. How are you liking that?
- 0:15Speaker 3: It's been great. You know, I miss you guys, you know,
- 0:19Speaker 3: in the FSU side of things. You know, when you're
- 0:22Speaker 3: doing that, TJ, I know you wear a lot of
- 0:23Speaker 3: hats nowadays. But yeah, it's been cool kind of traveling
- 0:27Speaker 3: the state and getting kind of a bigger perspective of,
- 0:31Speaker 3: of what's going on.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I know some things you haven't missed. We'll get into
- 0:35Speaker 2: those in a few minutes, but don't say.
- 0:38Speaker 1: That we are presented by prize picks.
- 0:41Speaker 2: All new users there play $ 5, get 150 in lineups instantly.
- 0:44Speaker 1: If you win using code HMA. All right, we'll address that.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Just big picture, now that you're a little bit more
- 0:50Speaker 2: removed from things, like I don't know how many of
- 0:52Speaker 2: your thoughts on Norvell or the program or just everything
- 0:57Speaker 2: that you covered in your time in and around Tallahassee.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I don't know if much of that has changed, but
- 1:03Speaker 1: maybe that's a good place to start.
- 1:05Speaker 2: What is maybe different or do you realize a little
- 1:08Speaker 2: bit more now that you're outside of it or just
- 1:10Speaker 2: big picture thoughts on where FSU is? Obviously, since the
- 1:14Speaker 2: last time we talked, Florida State fired their athletic director,
- 1:16Speaker 2: Michael Alford. All signs kind of point towards this maybe
- 1:19Speaker 2: being the end of the road for Norvell, too, though
- 1:21Speaker 2: there is a little bit of question around that with
- 1:24Speaker 2: some national reporting, but just big picture thoughts.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I guess before I was obviously covering
- 1:31Speaker 3: Florida State recruiting specifically, so kind of insulated there. I mean,
- 1:35Speaker 3: you see what the other teams are doing on the trail,
- 1:38Speaker 3: but it wasn't my beat, right? So now it's kind
- 1:41Speaker 3: of my job to to have an idea, Hey, what is,
- 1:44Speaker 3: what is Florida and what is Miami accomplishing on the trail? Um,
- 1:48Speaker 3: and it puts it in perspective, you know, I was
- 1:51Speaker 3: very vocal for a long time that I felt like
- 1:53Speaker 3: Florida state was struggling, you know, even, even when the
- 1:56Speaker 3: results were good on the field, um, they were not
- 1:59Speaker 3: so good off the field on, you know, in, in recruiting.
- 2:01Speaker 3: And I just, uh, you know, I feel like now
- 2:05Speaker 3: getting kind of a, you know, more in the weeds
- 2:08Speaker 3: picture of like, Hey, this, these are the steps these
- 2:10Speaker 3: other in-state programs are taking and, it makes it all
- 2:14Speaker 3: the more clear that FSU needs to make a decision
- 2:17Speaker 3: and it needs to be quick.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Okay, so that's a, I hadn't really thought, we're going
- 2:22Speaker 2: to talk about Miami in another segment in a few
- 2:24Speaker 2: moments because their recruiting continues to impress. But specifically on Florida,
- 2:28Speaker 2: they go out and get John Summerall. And I don't know,
- 2:33Speaker 2: you're in this field a lot closer to recruiting than
- 2:35Speaker 2: I am. I don't know that John Summerall was thought
- 2:38Speaker 2: of as like an ace recruiter when he got to Florida.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Now Florida is like an ace job. So like they
- 2:43Speaker 1: do have the resources.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's a place that like, just like Florida state in Miami,
- 2:47Speaker 2: that if you go there and start to have some success,
- 2:49Speaker 2: you can do a good job. Although he's recruiting before
- 2:51Speaker 2: they've ever even had any success. First of all, he
- 2:53Speaker 2: retained maybe the best running back in the country. He
- 2:56Speaker 2: retained Jane woods. He retained a two five-star receivers, did
- 2:59Speaker 2: a good job in the portal hired fall. Like he's
- 3:01Speaker 2: done a lot of things really well, but he's recruiting and,
- 3:04Speaker 2: was top 10 in the country before they ever won
- 3:06Speaker 2: a game, right?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Before they put 50 on Ole Miss.
- 3:09Speaker 2: What is, is that, what are the things he's doing specifically,
- 3:14Speaker 2: obviously with, I don't want to call it a caveat,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but with the understanding that Florida is an elite program
- 3:19Speaker 2: when it's run well, they've got really good resources. What
- 3:22Speaker 2: is he doing though, that maybe Florida State's next coach
- 3:25Speaker 2: should be doing?
- 3:26Speaker 1: What is Mike Norvell not doing?
- 3:28Speaker 2: And this staff that Summerall is, obviously new coach bump
- 3:32Speaker 2: gets factored in there too. but just thoughts around what
- 3:34Speaker 2: he's built and how sustainable that model is.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I, I think what Summerall does really
- 3:41Speaker 3: well is he's in the weeds of all of it, right?
- 3:44Speaker 3: Like he, he cares a lot about bringing in the
- 3:47Speaker 3: best players into his program because he knows that's, that's
- 3:50Speaker 3: the way to win in that conference. And, you know, when,
- 3:55Speaker 3: when you compare it to kind of like a, you know, what,
- 3:57Speaker 3: gone wrong for Mike at FSU. I mean, Mike gets
- 4:01Speaker 3: involved in some recruitments, but, you know, one of my
- 4:03Speaker 3: critiques of him is just, you know, it feels like
- 4:06Speaker 3: he's not all in on the recruiting process. You go
- 4:09Speaker 3: down south to Coral Gables, you know, we'll obviously get
- 4:12Speaker 3: more in detail about what they're up to this cycle. But,
- 4:15Speaker 3: you know, Cristobal is obviously known for that, right? You know,
- 4:19Speaker 3: people question sometimes his on-field decisions, but no one questions
- 4:23Speaker 3: his recruiting ability and how relentless he is about it and,
- 4:26Speaker 3: you know, how how personally involved he is. And I
- 4:30Speaker 3: see a lot of that in some role too. Um,
- 4:32Speaker 3: he takes a lot of pride in that, you know,
- 4:35Speaker 3: part of building a roster. Um, so yeah, I mean, that's,
- 4:38Speaker 3: that's obvious that that's, you know, criteria number one for me. Um, if,
- 4:42Speaker 3: if I'm, you know, whoever's making this next hire for
- 4:45Speaker 3: Florida state, uh, is, is, you know, finding someone who
- 4:49Speaker 3: cares a lot about recruiting, winning big time battles and
- 4:53Speaker 3: going and filling that roster with dudes.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Couple of names that i want to throw out to
- 4:59Speaker 2: you because different names get thrown around i i didn't
- 5:02Speaker 2: i get i didn't know we'd go this direction either
- 5:04Speaker 2: but names get thrown around anytime you think your coach
- 5:07Speaker 2: is about to get fired or you know when you
- 5:09Speaker 2: think a coaching search might happen um and just quick
- 5:12Speaker 2: impressions of manny diaz as a recruiter since that name
- 5:15Speaker 2: continues to to pop up around fsu.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah i'm um I have a split kind of opinion
- 5:22Speaker 3: on him. I, I think he's a great coach. First
- 5:25Speaker 3: of all, um, I think he calls a great defense.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Like that's been a pretty consistent theme for him. Um,
- 5:30Speaker 3: I think he's a good evaluator. I would stop short
- 5:34Speaker 3: of calling him, you know, like a great recruiter. Um,
- 5:39Speaker 3: and it's kind of hard to judge, right? Because, you know,
- 5:41Speaker 3: people point back to his time at Miami. Well, it's
- 5:44Speaker 3: a completely different structure, um, at Miami, uh, then versus
- 5:49Speaker 3: what it was when Cristobal walked in the door, right?
- 5:52Speaker 3: That was the whole pitch to Cristobal. It was like, hey,
- 5:54Speaker 3: we're going to modernize our operation and fund you fully
- 5:58Speaker 3: for you to come from maybe the most funded program
- 6:01Speaker 3: in the country at the time in Oregon down to
- 6:04Speaker 3: Coral Gables to kind of right the ship. So it's
- 6:07Speaker 3: a little unfair to make that comparison of like, well,
- 6:10Speaker 3: Mario's a way better recruiter. Well, it's like he has
- 6:12Speaker 3: a lot more resources to work with. But I still
- 6:15Speaker 3: do think that rings true, right? I do think Mario
- 6:18Speaker 3: and his operation would be better than if Manny had
- 6:22Speaker 3: the same resources. I guess what you're arguing or what
- 6:27Speaker 3: I'd argue there is like how much better, right? I
- 6:30Speaker 3: think Manny would do a solid job. I don't know
- 6:34Speaker 3: that that would be my choice, but I wouldn't be
- 6:37Speaker 3: super upset with it, if that makes sense.
- 6:41Speaker 1: How much better?
- 6:42Speaker 2: He pulled in the number 11 class in 2020.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And I, I know 2020, we think about COVID, but
- 6:47Speaker 2: like that was before COVID hit. So pulled in the
- 6:50Speaker 2: number 11 class, a lot of those guys didn't pan out.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And so I kind of wonder if it's like the,
- 6:55Speaker 2: not that you can't have a class that doesn't pan out,
- 6:57Speaker 2: but if he kind of took more high risk stuff, um,
- 7:00Speaker 2: you know, but yeah, different levels of success. I think
- 7:04Speaker 2: he was 17th the year before that in 2019. Um,
- 7:08Speaker 2: And so that's not my favorite one. I just wonder
- 7:11Speaker 2: truthfully how big of an upgrade he is over Mike
- 7:14Speaker 2: Norvell as a recruiter.
- 7:15Speaker 1: You know, like if Mike, there's some, there's some similarities.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Like good coaches, but not like if Mike's a
- 7:22Speaker 2: five as a recruiter, which I know FSU fans just
- 7:24Speaker 2: want to be negative and call him a zero, but
- 7:25Speaker 2: like Mike's a five is Manny, like a six or seven,
- 7:29Speaker 2: like at best, like I certainly wouldn't put him up
- 7:30Speaker 2: to like eight or anything.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Now, again, that goes back to the summer. I'll question.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I don't know that you thought Summerall was an ace
- 7:36Speaker 2: recruiter coming from Tulane. And so not the guys can't
- 7:41Speaker 2: become that, but you know, that's, that's the question.
- 7:44Speaker 1: What about the name? This gets tossed around. So we're
- 7:47Speaker 1: just going to do it.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Jimbo.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Do you think he could have the recruiting pool?
- 7:50Speaker 2: Like from that, I think the people's questions are mostly
- 7:53Speaker 2: about like how he would actually run the program and
- 7:55Speaker 2: touching the offense and all that other stuff. But like
- 7:58Speaker 2: recruiting pool, the state of Florida, like, do you even
- 7:59Speaker 2: hear anything like on the trail on what people's excitement
- 8:02Speaker 2: level would be around that?
- 8:04Speaker 3: Believe it or not, like, I don't know if there's
- 8:07Speaker 3: a name I've heard more in the last two weeks than,
- 8:09Speaker 3: than Jimbo, um, just coaches like from, uh, yeah, I mean, coaches, agents, handlers, um,
- 8:16Speaker 3: some kids, I mean, you gotta remember like, um, you know,
- 8:20Speaker 3: Jimbo was obviously it was at A & M, but
- 8:21Speaker 3: that doesn't have as much, um, hole in the state
- 8:24Speaker 3: of Florida. Um, but yeah, there's some kids that remember
- 8:27Speaker 3: what he did at Florida state. Um, and, and, you know,
- 8:29Speaker 3: they were obviously young, these, these guys that are now
- 8:32Speaker 3: juniors and seniors, but, Um, yeah, I mean, there, there
- 8:35Speaker 3: are some, there are some high level players that would
- 8:38Speaker 3: be very excited about, um, Jimbo and Tallahassee. Um, yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 3: I mean, I have a lot of reservations about that one, obviously, um,
- 8:47Speaker 3: with how things ended, how things have gone in the last,
- 8:50Speaker 3: you know, however many years since, uh, things fell off
- 8:53Speaker 3: the rails at Florida state. I mean, like I, I
- 8:56Speaker 3: feel like a lot of people, um, for whatever reason,
- 8:59Speaker 3: I think probably fueled by the nostalgia and also, um,
- 9:03Speaker 3: the desperation of like, Hey, can we just be like,
- 9:06Speaker 3: not like this anymore? Um, so I don't blame FSU
- 9:11Speaker 3: fans in that sense, but I think when you're talking
- 9:14Speaker 3: about really vetting options, I mean, you got to look
- 9:17Speaker 3: at his recent track record and, you know, I know
- 9:19Speaker 3: everyone wants to be quick to be like, well, he's,
- 9:21Speaker 3: you know, he's learned his lessons and it's like, you know, I,
- 9:24Speaker 3: I don't know that that's, um, a full reality. Um,
- 9:28Speaker 3: but yes, I, his name absolutely is brought up a
- 9:32Speaker 3: ton in, I've been to a bunch of schools in
- 9:36Speaker 3: recent weeks. I was over at Lake City Columbia High School,
- 9:39Speaker 3: which is where Timmy Jernigan played, and is now the
- 9:41Speaker 3: D-line coach. And, yeah, there's a lot of Jimbo buzz there.
- 9:47Speaker 3: And there's some talk that maybe he could get some
- 9:51Speaker 3: financial backing, maybe reawaken some boosters. I know that's been
- 9:57Speaker 3: going around a little bit. So, yeah, I'd have recommendations.
- 10:00Speaker 3: about it, but his name is definitely getting out there.
- 10:03Speaker 3: And I think there's a coordinated part of that too.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Quick break from the video, 15 second plug. If you're
- 10:11Speaker 2: not subscribed on audio, make sure you go do that.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Spreaker helps us the most. I'm putting
- 10:17Speaker 2: the link in the description. go subscribe because I know
- 10:19Speaker 2: you're subscribed here.
- 10:20Speaker 1: All right. Now back to Zach. Oh, for sure. Yeah. You,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you can, you can see that. And I agree with you.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of nostalgia there.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I think desperation, you, you bring up the two great
- 10:29Speaker 2: words there in nostalgia and desperation.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. And I still love,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I still watch 2013 highlights, you know? Um, And desperation too.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Like I do think Jimbo could come in and pretty
- 10:43Speaker 2: immediately raise your Florida, like seven or eight wins, which
- 10:45Speaker 2: is maybe feeling like.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Mike's ceiling, you know? So is that what you, is
- 10:51Speaker 1: that what you aspire to be though?
- 10:52Speaker 2: As Florida state is a, just, Hey, let's bring in
- 10:55Speaker 2: a guy that takes our Florida eight wins.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You're so desperate right now that.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Maybe that is, maybe that is, maybe that does, if
- 11:01Speaker 2: that's what we settled for, then that's what we settled for.
- 11:04Speaker 2: But again, I Jimbo is GM and, like, could that work? Like, could,
- 11:09Speaker 2: is he still like, can you pull enough strings? There
- 11:11Speaker 2: is the, have we seen any recruiters? I wonder if, um,
- 11:15Speaker 2: what's the guy that was over the senior bowl that's
- 11:17Speaker 2: out Oklahoma. Um, does he like, could Jim, could you
- 11:22Speaker 2: have a guy that wasn't your head coach or like
- 11:24Speaker 2: in tandem with your head coach, like really pulling the
- 11:27Speaker 2: strings on these recruitments, not the guy that gives the.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Rah-rah speeches at halftime.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Um, I don't know that we've seen that yet in
- 11:34Speaker 2: college football, but I guess it's stranger things have happened.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Jimbo in a GM-like role, I don't know what–
- 11:43Speaker 3: I mean I think he wants to be a football coach, right?
- 11:45Speaker 3: But I don't know if that's a realistic option, but
- 11:50Speaker 3: that does intrigue me because the one thing I will
- 11:52Speaker 3: say about Jimbo is he's not the type to– not
- 11:56Speaker 3: find a way to compete at the highest level when
- 11:58Speaker 3: it comes to acquiring talent right Jimbo will find a
- 12:01Speaker 3: way that's that's the super appealing part about it uh
- 12:04Speaker 3: you know he gets it um he he understood that
- 12:08Speaker 3: from you know when he got to Florida State until
- 12:10Speaker 3: it ended and obviously he brought in a really on
- 12:13Speaker 3: paper loaded class at A & M that one that's
- 12:16Speaker 3: talked about and dissected a ton um obviously overlooking it
- 12:20Speaker 3: seems a lot of character concerns which is kind of
- 12:23Speaker 3: what what ended his career at FSU the way it
- 12:26Speaker 3: did with, you know, the stuff that he kind of
- 12:29Speaker 3: let ramp it in the program. So, yeah, I mean,
- 12:33Speaker 3: that's the part, right, that really worries me is that
- 12:36Speaker 3: kind of next step after they get to campus. But
- 12:38Speaker 3: if you're talking about a pure just going to win
- 12:41Speaker 3: big-time recruiting battles, going to find a way, I think
- 12:45Speaker 3: Jimbo would do that. But it's a matter of what
- 12:47Speaker 3: you brought up. It's like, what do you want your
- 12:50Speaker 3: program to be? Will that be enough with all the
- 12:53Speaker 3: other added baggage there? I don't know.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 2: To me, a perfect scenario would be for him to
- 13:02Speaker 2: CEO it. And again, I don't know if he wants
- 13:04Speaker 2: to do that. But a perfect scenario, if you were
- 13:07Speaker 2: going to do the Jimbo thing, would be to have
- 13:08Speaker 2: him CEO it. hire an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator
- 13:11Speaker 2: that you pay extremely well because maybe he takes a
- 13:13Speaker 2: little less money. Let Jimbo recruit and give the rah-rah
- 13:16Speaker 2: speeches before and after the game. Manage his coordinators and like,
- 13:20Speaker 2: you know, Mario didn't have to touch the offense because
- 13:22Speaker 2: Dawson's really good. Mario didn't have to touch the defense
- 13:24Speaker 2: because Heatherman's really good. Let those guys kind of work
- 13:27Speaker 2: and you be the figurehead. To me, in theory, that
- 13:31Speaker 2: could work. I just don't know if Jimbo would really
- 13:33Speaker 2: sign up for that to just be the CEO and
- 13:35Speaker 2: not be in there. Not that he couldn't coach at all,
- 13:38Speaker 2: but I'd really want those to be hire good people
- 13:40Speaker 2: and let them do their jobs. Um, what are, what
- 13:44Speaker 2: are you hearing on the trail from coaches, from parents,
- 13:47Speaker 2: from kids, uh, just about the, maybe the instability at
- 13:51Speaker 2: Florida state, the, the questions of, of what the future holds,
- 13:55Speaker 2: obviously to everyone outside it, it looks like they're probably
- 13:59Speaker 2: going to make a decision, but it seemed like they
- 14:00Speaker 2: had a pretty coordinated, um, media campaign, I guess, after
- 14:05Speaker 2: Alfred was fired to say.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Like, Hey, we're not, we're not, we're not doing anything
- 14:09Speaker 1: just yet.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Like we, we believe in this guy. Um, but we
- 14:12Speaker 2: also know the games that are coming and they're an
- 14:15Speaker 2: underdog this weekend against Virginia. There'll be an underdog at
- 14:17Speaker 2: the road on the road at Louisville and then to
- 14:19Speaker 2: Miami and likely Clemson as well, if he makes it
- 14:21Speaker 2: that far. So what are you hearing and how's that
- 14:24Speaker 2: impacting current recruitments, which of which Florida state doesn't really
- 14:27Speaker 2: seem to be involved in a lot of high profile
- 14:29Speaker 2: stuff anyway.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 3: I talked to an agent yesterday who was just like,
- 14:33Speaker 3: could not say enough nice things about Mike. And that's,
- 14:36Speaker 3: that's a common thing, right? No, no one really has
- 14:38Speaker 3: any bad things to say about Norvell, but I mean,
- 14:42Speaker 3: he also said like, I just can't get any kids
- 14:45Speaker 3: to visit Florida state. So that's really what it is.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I mean, the recruiting momentum is, is dead on the
- 14:52Speaker 3: trail right now. And every, and it, I think the
- 14:57Speaker 3: important thing to note there is it's not dead forever, right?
- 15:01Speaker 3: And I think as soon as they make a change
- 15:06Speaker 3: and then therefore not long after make a hire, I
- 15:09Speaker 3: think there's going to be a ton of buzz around
- 15:11Speaker 3: Florida State, right? Because it's been years of anticipation for
- 15:15Speaker 3: this very move and the fan base is going to
- 15:18Speaker 3: be amped up. You're going to see a ton of,
- 15:21Speaker 3: you know, whoever it is, right? The new coach buzz
- 15:25Speaker 3: will be there. Um, and I think that that will
- 15:28Speaker 3: kind of restore a lot of the, the dead recruiting
- 15:31Speaker 3: momentum right now, but, but it's bleak. Uh, you know, I,
- 15:34Speaker 3: I don't want to undersell it. Um, I mean, they're like,
- 15:38Speaker 3: there's those two, uh, four star players in Tallahassee, right.
- 15:42Speaker 3: And FSU is backyard. They literally go to Florida state
- 15:44Speaker 3: university school. Um, they're both trending to Florida. And I
- 15:47Speaker 3: don't think that, uh, that FSU is really even involved
- 15:50Speaker 3: in those recruitments anymore from what I've heard. Um, you know,
- 15:54Speaker 3: I don't know if that's waving the white towel or what, but, um, it's, uh, yeah,
- 15:59Speaker 3: it's not pretty. Um, and I, the, the general sentiment
- 16:02Speaker 3: is just everyone's waiting for this inevitable, what seems like
- 16:06Speaker 3: an inevitable, inevitable thing to happen. Um, you know, which
- 16:10Speaker 3: is a, which is a coaching change. Um, and once
- 16:12Speaker 3: that does happen, I think things will, you know, business will,
- 16:15Speaker 3: will be back booming, um, in Tallahassee.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Do you think, and so the staff has never, I don't,
- 16:21Speaker 2: I don't want to characterize the entire staff the same way,
- 16:23Speaker 2: but by and large, the staff has never really prioritized
- 16:27Speaker 2: recruiting anyway. Um, does the staff, you talk about like
- 16:32Speaker 2: just the general lack of enthusiasm that's on like the
- 16:34Speaker 2: kid side, the coaches side and in the state and.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Across the country, certainly in the Southeast here.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Um, do you think the staff at, in Tallahassee that
- 16:44Speaker 2: has never really prioritized recruiting, like, are they trying to
- 16:48Speaker 2: grind it out? Are they trying to like turn over
- 16:50Speaker 2: every stone or do they kind of read the writing
- 16:52Speaker 2: on the wall too. And it's like, yeah, let's just
- 16:54Speaker 2: get through this Virginia game. But you know, but thoughts around,
- 16:59Speaker 2: I guess their effort level, but which was already bad
- 17:01Speaker 2: to start is my point, but thoughts on, are they,
- 17:04Speaker 2: what are they doing right now?
- 17:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a mixed bag. You know, I've
- 17:08Speaker 3: talked to some people in the program that are a
- 17:10Speaker 3: lot more optimistic than, than others. And you talk to
- 17:14Speaker 3: some people who have a very kind of realist view on, Hey, like,
- 17:19Speaker 3: You know, is it worth going and trying to, you know,
- 17:24Speaker 3: land whoever we can land in the in the 27 class,
- 17:28Speaker 3: you know, with whatever momentum exists right now? Or should
- 17:32Speaker 3: we just save our money for the portal? And, you know,
- 17:35Speaker 3: if we somehow make it by this year, like have enough. um,
- 17:39Speaker 3: to spend for guys that can help our roster next year.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:43Speaker 3: There's, they have a few guys in this 27 class
- 17:46Speaker 3: that they feel strongly about that, that can potentially help
- 17:49Speaker 3: them year one. Um, but if you're, if you're on
- 17:52Speaker 3: this staff, that's, you know, somehow let's say they get
- 17:55Speaker 3: extended into next year. Like, would you rather take these,
- 17:59Speaker 3: you know, kind of late straggler types in the high
- 18:01Speaker 3: school ranks or, are you going into the portal, um, heavy, which,
- 18:05Speaker 3: you know, we've talked about at length has, has been
- 18:07Speaker 3: an issue for FSU, but you got to think about
- 18:09Speaker 3: it from, from their current perspective. So that's, that's kind
- 18:12Speaker 3: of the, the mix I get, um, you know, when
- 18:14Speaker 3: I talk to people over there and, you know, I
- 18:16Speaker 3: think it's, you know, I think everyone's just waiting to,
- 18:19Speaker 3: to see what the verdict is right on, on, you know, what,
- 18:23Speaker 3: what they decide to do with that coach.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Zach, we appreciate your time, man.
