- 0:00Thanks for
- 0:02>> Okay, a two-part question. Number one,
- 0:04what has it been like having some
- 0:05minutes at the point guard? You talk
- 0:07about that adjustment and how that's
- 0:08been for you. And number two, what is
- 0:09your spoon in order?
- 0:12>> Uh, the second one's easier to answer.
- 0:14Uh, pineapple serve every time. Um, fire
- 0:18and I think it's just filling in the
- 0:21minutes that need to be filled. Um,
- 0:24I don't know what exactly the coaches
- 0:26talked about for that to happen, but I
- 0:28appreciated it and
- 0:30I just think that lets me know that I'm
- 0:32somebody that's trusted on this team and
- 0:34I don't think it's necessarily hard or
- 0:35unnatural for me to play that position
- 0:37just based on the way my my whole life
- 0:39has went. So, it was just filling those
- 0:41spots and it worked out. I feel like
- 0:43maybe we didn't win the game, but it
- 0:44wasn't something that was negative to
- 0:46the team. So, yeah, I enjoyed it.
- 0:50has been talking about you guys like
- 0:51your on ball defense has been good or
- 0:53was against Alabama just was the key to
- 0:55like making sure that y'all are in the
- 0:57right spots in the right you know right
- 0:59gaps and all that in in games like that.
- 1:01>> Yeah. Um I think that just goes back to
- 1:03practice. I don't think the emphasis
- 1:05overall
- 1:06collectively has been
- 1:10to be loaded to the ball now. um we kind
- 1:13of got away from it just taking that
- 1:14week off of not playing and then our
- 1:18switching is what it is but still
- 1:20understanding that we have to be in the
- 1:21right positions off the ball. I don't
- 1:22think that was emphasized enough but I
- 1:26mean guarding the ball I don't think
- 1:28we've been that good. We're still giving
- 1:31a lot of guys angles and giving up some
- 1:33things still on the ball. It just needs
- 1:35to be more resistance overall in our
- 1:37defense.
- 1:42Yeah.
- 1:45>> Uh
- 1:47he was talking about Sebastian and just
- 1:49how good he's been on defense. I mean,
- 1:51you play good college basketball. See a
- 1:52freshman come in there and and play the
- 1:54defense that he does. How impressive has
- 1:56that been?
- 1:57>> It's
- 1:59It's incredible. Like I think he's the
- 2:01one guy every game we decide that we
- 2:03really have
- 2:06maybe one complaint on one play with
- 2:08Seb. like just him being a freshman,
- 2:11it's insane to see. I think it's it's
- 2:13next level. Um I enjoy playing with him
- 2:15the most. I think he's the most valuable
- 2:17player on our team in my opinion, but we
- 2:20all see it. So yeah, it's pretty obvious
- 2:22for sure.
- 2:24>> Face a lot of good guards this season,
- 2:25but I guess what do you see of Tyler
- 2:27Tanner? You know, what do you guys need
- 2:28to do to I guess slow down a little bit?
- 2:30>> Yeah, collective effort. Um,
- 2:35I take every matchup personally just in
- 2:37terms of what I need to do to guard the
- 2:40ball, but that's going to be a
- 2:42collective effort, especially the way
- 2:43he's playing right now. He's coming off
- 2:45like having 40 last game or something
- 2:46like that. So, collective effort overall
- 2:49and I think that's just what it is. I
- 2:52definitely would be the first line of
- 2:53defense, but with our switching and the
- 2:56things that we do, I know I won't be
- 2:57able to guard him the whole game. So, it
- 3:00really is a collective effort.
- 3:05You guys have been in the spot before
- 3:06this season where you have a tough loss
- 3:08and you turn around, come back and put
- 3:10together good performance. What's been
- 3:11the key to that? This something y'all
- 3:12done several times this season
- 3:14throughout the year.
- 3:14>> Yeah, for some reason this team does
- 3:16better responding. I think that's just
- 3:18speaks to our youth and
- 3:21just being younger on the side of of of
- 3:24games. But
- 3:26this team responds well to adverse
- 3:29situations and understanding what's at
- 3:30stake in certain moments. And I think
- 3:32that's what carried us is understanding
- 3:34that we still have a lot of work to do
- 3:35and we can respond and keep trying to
- 3:37build and get better each week.
- 3:42>> Kind of building off that, how much
- 3:43confidence does that give y'all
- 3:45collectively knowing that you've come
- 3:47off, you know, a tough loss, you bounced
- 3:50back and you've had some big wins
- 3:51following tough games?
- 3:53Um,
- 3:56I think it gives you peace of mind
- 3:58knowing that our past and the things
- 4:00that we have overcome at this point have
- 4:02been huge and that we we've shown
- 4:05ourselves that we can do it. So I think
- 4:08it's just getting on to the next game
- 4:10and we try not we try to emphasize not
- 4:12harping on games as much especially
- 4:14where we are understanding where this
- 4:15team is how much we have grown so not
- 4:18just beating up on ourselves but it
- 4:20definitely gives you a piece of mind.
- 4:22>> Obviously y'all wanted the win but how
- 4:24big was it for Tahad to get going like
- 4:26that on on offense again? You know how
- 4:28much different is this team if you know
- 4:30the both of y'all are you know shooting
- 4:32like that performing like that?
- 4:33>> Yeah backward. Um, I think every win
- 4:37scoring will look different. I think we
- 4:39put up the same to me the same offense
- 4:42each game. It might be a game where none
- 4:44of us can hit shots, but collectively
- 4:47the way that we score the ball will
- 4:48always be good. I don't think our
- 4:50problem is offense. We've seen him do
- 4:52that plenty of times. So, it wasn't
- 4:53like, oh my god, Tah is back or
- 4:55anything. It was just like he had a good
- 4:57game today, but defensively we weren't
- 4:59where we needed to be. So, we lost the
- 5:00game.
