- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to jag VEM today.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm Kindannie Stevens.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Hope you all had a RESTful and enjoyable bye week
- 0:21Speaker 1: as the Jaguars are getting ready to take on second
- 0:23Speaker 1: half of their season after a week off.
- 0:25Speaker 2: J P. Shatrick and for Brian Sexton. Today John Oser
- 0:28Speaker 2: with us as well.
- 0:28Speaker 1: So let's go through some of our big things for
- 0:31Speaker 1: you after the bye week.
- 0:32Speaker 2: They're brought to you by GEH Government Employees.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Health Association Benefits for federal employees and retirees.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Big thing number one is Trading Block.
- 0:40Speaker 1: JPI tried to check out a little bit this week,
- 0:42Speaker 1: not look too much into social media and all the
- 0:44Speaker 1: things that were going on, but I did see Diana
- 0:46Speaker 1: Rossini released a report that said they Jaguars were listening
- 0:49Speaker 1: to calls for Brian Thomas Junior. We don't know the
- 0:51Speaker 1: validity of that, of course, but hearing that not anything
- 0:55Speaker 1: anybody probably wanted to hear at that point. But considering
- 0:58Speaker 1: the struggle of BTJ has been having, is that a
- 1:00Speaker 1: reasonable thing to think is gonna happen?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Or was that just a rumor?
- 1:02Speaker 3: You know, I don't know.
- 1:04Speaker 4: If the phone rings, I think they'll answer it. You know,
- 1:06Speaker 4: there's one of those things. I was an organ this
- 1:08Speaker 4: week and I had fifty degrees. I'm bald, right, so
- 1:10Speaker 4: I had to wear the Jaguars stocking cap, and I
- 1:12Speaker 4: had a guy one of the Oregon stores asked me about, Hey,
- 1:16Speaker 4: what's going on with Brian Thomas Junior.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I'm like, what do you mean. He's like, he's on
- 1:19Speaker 3: my fantasy team. He's not doing anything.
- 1:21Speaker 4: So it seems like one of those situations. He's a
- 1:25Speaker 4: good football player. He's going through it John right now.
- 1:28Speaker 4: But you just gotta kind of stick with it and
- 1:29Speaker 4: we'll see what happens in the next week. But I
- 1:31Speaker 4: just don't know if this is gonna happen.
- 1:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think he gets traded. When teams call
- 1:38Speaker 5: during the bye week, people pick up the phone and
- 1:41Speaker 5: I think it's what happened. But I don't expect him
- 1:44Speaker 5: be traded. He does need to improve on what's going on.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Their issues going on with Brian Thomas Junior. But I
- 1:51Speaker 5: would be shocked at this point if he doesn't work
- 1:56Speaker 5: through those problems with the Jaguars.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I think much ado it nothing.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We'll keep everybody updated, of course, if anything does develop.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Our big thing Number two is bye week buy in.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So we talked a lot about what went on in
- 2:10Speaker 1: the last two games before the bye week before we left,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and those two kind of frustrating losses, especially the one
- 2:16Speaker 1: against the Rams. But John, we get a little bit
- 2:18Speaker 1: of a seek peek here into some of the meetings
- 2:21Speaker 1: and what goes on with the players and Liam Cohen
- 2:23Speaker 1: meeting with the team before they took that break, and
- 2:25Speaker 1: it really doesn't feel like he's lost the room whatsoever.
- 2:28Speaker 2: He still has that buy in.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It feels like everybody's still on the same page going
- 2:31Speaker 1: to the second half.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Well, just based on as you said, the team meetings
- 2:35Speaker 5: and then on his Monday media availability, I think he
- 2:39Speaker 5: has buy in because I think he has a very
- 2:42Speaker 5: realistic grasp of what's going on. His theme has been, hey,
- 2:48Speaker 5: you know, there's no reason we can't turn this around.
- 2:52Speaker 5: If we played the kind of football that we played
- 2:55Speaker 5: early in the season, and if we get back to
- 2:57Speaker 5: what we are and really stopped me in it easy
- 3:00Speaker 5: for their teams. So he's as good as I've been around.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Tony Dungee was as good as there was at after
- 3:09Speaker 5: a loss, sort of calm in the waters. Liam's the
- 3:13Speaker 5: same level and Tony Dungeon's a Hall of Famer, So
- 3:17Speaker 5: I think in terms of players buying in JP, they
- 3:22Speaker 5: know what reality is in the NFL, and when their
- 3:24Speaker 5: coach grasps it, I think it's easy for them to
- 3:27Speaker 5: follow this guy, and I think he's laid a groundwork
- 3:30Speaker 5: for buying.
- 3:31Speaker 4: And there's actual proof of success this year. We've had
- 3:34Speaker 4: seasons around here before where the team is one in
- 3:37Speaker 4: seven or zero to eight.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I mean, they're four and three.
- 3:40Speaker 4: They're the number seven seed in the AFC playoffs that
- 3:42Speaker 4: it started today, which it won't a lot of seasons
- 3:45Speaker 4: to go. But they've had winning results even though they're
- 3:47Speaker 4: battling through some things internally, penalties drops, the list is
- 3:52Speaker 4: longer than that, So there is some positivity there. They've
- 3:56Speaker 4: been able to get winning results and you've got some
- 3:59Speaker 4: proof of what they can actually do if they are
- 4:02Speaker 4: able to clean some of these things up.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yes, there's a lot of positives ahead, everything ahead for
- 4:06Speaker 1: this team. Our final big thing is down the stretch
- 4:09Speaker 1: now that they've had the bye week. It's all about
- 4:11Speaker 1: focusing going forward and winning the games that are on
- 4:14Speaker 1: their schedule. But JP, we look at some of the
- 4:17Speaker 1: issues we talked about before obviously, what is your main focus.
- 4:20Speaker 1: What's the number one thing that needs to get fixed
- 4:22Speaker 1: down the stretch?
- 4:23Speaker 3: Well, I mean it's penalties, clearly. I think that's the
- 4:25Speaker 3: number one thing. They've only I think they're.
- 4:27Speaker 4: What fourth in the league now and accepted penalties after
- 4:31Speaker 4: Sunday's games, and they've played one less game than the
- 4:34Speaker 4: other three teams in front of them.
- 4:35Speaker 3: So do the math on that one.
- 4:36Speaker 4: They had eighteen flags against them in London, thirteen of
- 4:40Speaker 4: those accepted.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Cut that in half.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Maybe you got a better shot in some of these games, John,
- 4:45Speaker 4: So for me, it's penalties number one.
- 4:47Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think mine is also based on penalty.
- 4:51Speaker 5: They have to be able to run and they have
- 4:53Speaker 5: to be able to function offensively. I think until they
- 4:57Speaker 5: cut out the penalties and the avoidable errors, the functioning
- 5:01Speaker 5: errors that they talk about, Trevor can't give up early
- 5:04Speaker 5: sacks that just lead to sort of four yard differences,
- 5:08Speaker 5: which you say, wow, what's the problem with picking up
- 5:12Speaker 5: second and thirteen, Well, it's harder to do that than
- 5:15Speaker 5: picking up second and six is the problem. So I
- 5:18Speaker 5: think if you get back to at least giving yourself
- 5:22Speaker 5: a chance to line up, Like JP said, I think
- 5:24Speaker 5: it solves a lot, and you've got to start catching
- 5:26Speaker 5: the ball. I mean, it's drops. It's not okay to
- 5:31Speaker 5: have two or three easy drop passes a game. Think
- 5:34Speaker 5: about how many drives that kills. Maybe three and you
- 5:37Speaker 5: get nine in a game. It's a third year offense
- 5:40Speaker 5: that you're giving away dropping the ball.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know you go back to that down
- 5:44Speaker 4: in distance things second and thirteen. Well, I mean, if
- 5:47Speaker 4: they're dropping the ball, then it's third and thirteen, right,
- 5:50Speaker 4: So you're just adding on to it.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And guess what.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Max Crosby's coming up this week too in Vegas. So
- 5:56Speaker 4: pass rushers are pretty much on every team. You get
- 5:59Speaker 4: those down in dis situations, that's not a favorable look.
- 6:02Speaker 3: For this team.
- 6:03Speaker 2: A lot of stuff to clean up going forward.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But as we mentioned, they are four and three. So
- 6:07Speaker 1: coming up after the break, we're gonna go over our
- 6:09Speaker 1: highlights from the first half the season for the Jaguars
- 6:15Speaker 1: tags fans. If you want customized Jaguars furniture for your home,
- 6:17Speaker 1: check out zipchare dot com to brows all the customizable options.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Zip Chair is furniture for fans.
- 6:26Speaker 3: It's all right in front of us man.
- 6:28Speaker 6: Everything we want, everything we talked about doing and wanted
- 6:34Speaker 6: to do.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Is all right in front of us.
- 6:38Speaker 7: I can't be more excited. God yet, has it been
- 6:40Speaker 7: our best last two weeks?
- 6:41Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Not known?
- 6:43Speaker 7: But man, isn't that some of the control. Shouldn't that
- 6:47Speaker 7: be the exciting part about it? It's not that we
- 6:51Speaker 7: over here Kennel kick did. We can control everything, every
- 7:00Speaker 7: single aspect of what we do moving forward. We can
- 7:04Speaker 7: control get away, get away from it, do what you
- 7:11Speaker 7: gotta do individually to reset, recalibrate, and let's come back
- 7:16Speaker 7: on Monday, guys with a renewed understanding.
- 7:21Speaker 3: But nothing that.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Needs no change.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:24Speaker 3: It's right here in this room.
- 7:26Speaker 6: All the answers and solutions are right here for us
- 7:29Speaker 6: to just keep going and take the next step.
- 7:32Speaker 7: But the details matter, they do, and it starts here.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Us as coaches need to do it.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Coach it better, but we gotta go do it better
- 7:42Speaker 6: as well. On the games we all got on that
- 7:45Speaker 6: guy's understand let's go Giants.
- 7:47Speaker 1: If Nam Cohen talking to the team before the bye
- 7:53Speaker 1: week last week, if you haven't checked it out, I
- 7:55Speaker 1: do want to recommend that you do it. I believe
- 7:57Speaker 1: I think it's technically a hunt extra but it's about
- 7:59Speaker 1: to minutes and it's kind of the meeting, the recap
- 8:03Speaker 1: post frustrating loss in London, and kind of what the
- 8:05Speaker 1: team talked about before they went on the break, And
- 8:09Speaker 1: that's kind of what led me into the segment a
- 8:10Speaker 1: little bit because after he talks a little bit about
- 8:12Speaker 1: the mistakes that they made and taking ownership of some
- 8:14Speaker 1: of the stuff they did wrong, they went over some
- 8:16Speaker 1: of their highlights of the season and how they can
- 8:18Speaker 1: some of the best things that they did in the
- 8:20Speaker 1: first half. So I think it's important for us to
- 8:22Speaker 1: remember to be positive around here because it has been
- 8:25Speaker 1: dire times before.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, they have done some good things.
- 8:28Speaker 4: It is a long football season. It's been you know,
- 8:31Speaker 4: seven weeks now eight with the bye week. They've done
- 8:34Speaker 4: some positive things.
- 8:35Speaker 3: They've won four of.
- 8:36Speaker 2: The games out of more than they lost.
- 8:38Speaker 3: That's like a winning record last I checked. So, yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 3: they could be better. They could be a whole lot worse.
- 8:44Speaker 5: John, Well, they're four and three and I thought going
- 8:48Speaker 5: into the season they were an eight, nine, ten win
- 8:50Speaker 5: team depending on how they played within that and I
- 8:54Speaker 5: thought they would get beaten badly a couple of times
- 8:57Speaker 5: because usually first year regimes in the NFL have a
- 9:02Speaker 5: couple of games where it gets away from them because
- 9:05Speaker 5: you're still getting to where you want to be when
- 9:07Speaker 5: you're doing this thing full strength. That's what happened. They
- 9:11Speaker 5: may everybody's panicking over this. The two best teams on
- 9:14Speaker 5: their schedule might be the two teams they just played,
- 9:16Speaker 5: and the Seahawks are really good. And I think quietly,
- 9:21Speaker 5: we're gonna find out that these two teams, Rams and
- 9:23Speaker 5: the Seahawks are really good. It's a devision I never
- 9:27Speaker 5: thought going in. This is a thirteen and fourteen they
- 9:31Speaker 5: have three losses. I think they can get to eleven
- 9:34Speaker 5: and six ten seven, get in the playoffs. That's I
- 9:36Speaker 5: think they feel like they're gonna be better than that,
- 9:38Speaker 5: but I think that is a very realistic goal for
- 9:42Speaker 5: this thing.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Let's look back at some of the stuff that they
- 9:44Speaker 1: did do right in the first half, because let's go
- 9:46Speaker 1: to Week one. Travis Etn coming out of the gate
- 9:49Speaker 1: looking amazing, and as much as Liam Cohen talked about
- 9:51Speaker 1: establishing the run, we saw that right out of the gate.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Obviously, with what he was.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Able to do running the football and just I think
- 10:00Speaker 1: one of his career days he had a seventy one
- 10:01Speaker 1: yard run in that game against the Panthers, and just
- 10:05Speaker 1: talent across the board from the running game that we
- 10:09Speaker 1: hadn't seen in a while, even Baseil.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Twoton as well.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Didn't they go for two hundred on the ground in
- 10:13Speaker 3: this game? I think they did.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I mean it was kind of set the tone for
- 10:16Speaker 4: what they wanted to be this season. You know a
- 10:18Speaker 4: lot of people maybe on the outside that aren't in
- 10:20Speaker 4: it every day, thought, oh it's Liam Cohen, They're.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Gonna throw it around. I don't know.
- 10:24Speaker 4: This is the bread and butter of what the Jaguars
- 10:27Speaker 4: need to be to be successful offensively, and they really
- 10:31Speaker 4: set the tone on the offensive line and then atn
- 10:33Speaker 4: breaking free with some big runs and did it all
- 10:36Speaker 4: day long.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Job.
- 10:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I played two very very good defensive lines going
- 10:41Speaker 5: into the by which is why you didn't see this
- 10:43Speaker 5: as much. Passing game has to start working better to
- 10:48Speaker 5: spread it a little bit and allow this to happen off.
- 10:51Speaker 2: All right, it's jump head to Week three. We saw
- 10:54Speaker 2: the Texans game.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Obviously, after their loss to the Bengals, they come back,
- 10:57Speaker 1: they want to play well against a division opponent and
- 11:00Speaker 1: Brian Thomas Junior's catch at this point when we had
- 11:03Speaker 1: been talking about him not being able to come down
- 11:05Speaker 1: with the football, his struggles.
- 11:07Speaker 2: This was a momentous play.
- 11:08Speaker 1: It set up the game winning touchdown and the trust
- 11:11Speaker 1: to see Crev Lawrence check out of the run play,
- 11:13Speaker 1: find Brian Thomas Junior there across the middle, trust him
- 11:16Speaker 1: to go get it and setting up this play was huge.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Made to see more. Yeah, I mean, but it does
- 11:25Speaker 5: show that when it's there, there's dynamic plays to be
- 11:30Speaker 5: made in this offense. They just have to get to
- 11:34Speaker 5: this more clear. I mean it goes are saying you
- 11:36Speaker 5: need more forty five yard passes from Brian Thomas receptions
- 11:40Speaker 5: from BTJ.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and that capped off a tough day because he
- 11:43Speaker 4: brought the ball bunch in that game and really kind
- 11:46Speaker 4: of told you everything about what he was going through
- 11:49Speaker 4: when he made the catch and then the running he
- 11:51Speaker 4: threw the football.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Against the wall. He was just so overcome with the
- 11:54Speaker 3: emotion there to set.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Up the game winner and then the ending of this
- 11:57Speaker 2: game as well.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Will give some love to the defense because I'll obviously
- 12:00Speaker 1: tons of takeaways early in the season from this team
- 12:03Speaker 1: and they've gotten away from it in the past.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Couple of games.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But Josh Heinz Allen get after the quarterback and then
- 12:08Speaker 1: Antonio Johnson interception at the end of the Texans game
- 12:11Speaker 1: to kind of seal it when the Texans looked like
- 12:13Speaker 1: they were trying to get something in the last you know,
- 12:16Speaker 1: seconds of this game, trying to try to tie it
- 12:19Speaker 1: up or win it, and Josh hens Allen play Josh
- 12:22Speaker 1: heines Allen's play.
- 12:23Speaker 4: Yeah, we need to see more of this too. John
- 12:27Speaker 4: They've had close calls in the pass rush game. This
- 12:30Speaker 4: was one that secured the bag, if you will, at
- 12:32Speaker 4: the end of the game. But that's really been hasn't
- 12:36Speaker 4: been a lot of that consistently this year in the
- 12:39Speaker 4: past rush game they've been close to him't been able
- 12:41Speaker 4: to get to the quarterback a whole lot, especially Jah.
- 12:45Speaker 4: So that was a big play in a big moment
- 12:47Speaker 4: to get there and affect the play and heads up
- 12:50Speaker 4: play on the back end to catch it.
- 12:51Speaker 5: Yeah. I think I think you'll see the defense get
- 12:54Speaker 5: back to more of this once Trayvon gets sure going again.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Don't overlook this game as a big game. I get
- 13:05Speaker 5: the Texans are three and four, but they'd be four
- 13:09Speaker 5: and three. They gotten this one right and It's been
- 13:13Speaker 5: easy to overlook them because the cults are so hot.
- 13:15Speaker 5: But this game is going to end up in the
- 13:19Speaker 5: second half the season. I think people looking back on
- 13:21Speaker 5: and going, I'm glad we got them because they think
- 13:24Speaker 5: they're I think they're still a factor.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I think they are too, especially after their win against
- 13:28Speaker 1: the forty nine ers yesterday. Look, I had the Week
- 13:30Speaker 1: four Parker Washington punt return touchdown. The momentum shift that
- 13:36Speaker 1: felt in that game. We talked all week.
- 13:38Speaker 2: You know, the.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Jaguars haven't played well in these on the West Coast,
- 13:40Speaker 1: haven't won in California in a.
- 13:42Speaker 2: While, and this felt like a.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Shift at this point in the game. I remember in
- 13:48Speaker 1: the press box, John, we were kind of watching it
- 13:49Speaker 1: go down and it was huge. It was huge.
- 13:52Speaker 5: It's what they didn't have. I mean, I got one
- 13:56Speaker 5: called back in London. I don't know if they'd made
- 13:58Speaker 5: the same impact that this one did. But when your
- 14:03Speaker 5: offense is struggle a little bit, and they have at times,
- 14:06Speaker 5: you need big plays from elsewhere. They were getting them early,
- 14:09Speaker 5: you know, turnovers and big plays and cetra teams. Again,
- 14:14Speaker 5: they probably need one or two of these coming down
- 14:17Speaker 5: the stretch to turn a couple of games.
- 14:19Speaker 4: You know, when the offense is struggling dropping the ball
- 14:22Speaker 4: and not running it, and maybe the defense is playing
- 14:25Speaker 4: pretty well. Special teams they can contribute to. And we've
- 14:29Speaker 4: seen Parker do this now twice in his career that
- 14:31Speaker 4: counted one in London this year didn't count. And both returns,
- 14:35Speaker 4: by the way, are on deep punts that give him
- 14:37Speaker 4: space in front of him.
- 14:39Speaker 3: He makes a man miss, finds a seam and he's
- 14:42Speaker 3: got the ability to take at the distance. And let's
- 14:45Speaker 3: see some more of this as we move along.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Momentum changers. We love that.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And then the ending of this game in Week four
- 14:50Speaker 1: as well, because a huge game for Eric Armstead, going
- 14:54Speaker 1: back to the team he used to play for, coming
- 14:56Speaker 1: up with the stripsack at the end of the game,
- 14:58Speaker 1: huge ceiling.
- 14:59Speaker 2: It shutting off any potential comeback for the forty nine.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Leading the team in sacks this year, I mean, yeah,
- 15:04Speaker 4: so what three three and a half for him and
- 15:07Speaker 4: moving back to his more natural position inside and making
- 15:10Speaker 4: the impact against his old team.
- 15:11Speaker 3: It was a big week for him, certainly. Do yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 5: We need to see more big pass rush in big
- 15:18Speaker 5: moments and need to get leads to set up this
- 15:21Speaker 5: kind of situation.
- 15:21Speaker 2: We have the ability to do that for sure.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And then the final one for us is gonna be
- 15:26Speaker 1: Devin Lloyd, who had a tremendous start to this season
- 15:30Speaker 1: and I couldn't have made a bigger play for himself
- 15:33Speaker 1: on Monday Night Football against the Chiefs of Pick six
- 15:36Speaker 1: going back ninety nine yards here, and just also the
- 15:40Speaker 1: team hustling down to block form some of the big
- 15:42Speaker 1: guys as well. So it's a full team effort here.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But just that was kind of the defense as a
- 15:46Speaker 1: whole fell like play in that moment.
- 15:47Speaker 5: Yeah, when you have seasons like this and again this
- 15:51Speaker 5: is a season where you're trying to get out of
- 15:54Speaker 5: four and thirteen close to what you wanna be. Uh,
- 15:58Speaker 5: you're not gonna be dominant in those seasons usually because
- 16:01Speaker 5: you're turning around a team this four and thirteen. So
- 16:03Speaker 5: there's gonna be plays. If you reach your goals, there's
- 16:07Speaker 5: gonna be plays you look back and say we got
- 16:10Speaker 5: one there that maybe we don't without a big play.
- 16:13Speaker 5: This has a chance to be one of those plays
- 16:16Speaker 5: that you look back on in five or six years
- 16:19Speaker 5: and say that's one of the ones that helped get
- 16:21Speaker 5: started at a huge part.
- 16:22Speaker 4: No doubt, ninety nine yards against Mahomes, a quarterback they
- 16:27Speaker 4: haven't beaten before, and Devin Lloyd, a guy who had
- 16:30Speaker 4: struggled in his first three years, finding his legs defensively
- 16:34Speaker 4: this year. That is a huge play against a perennial
- 16:38Speaker 4: powerhouse on Monday night football.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Doesn't get much bigger.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Than that A moment in primetime. We love to see that.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Stay with us on jagxam. After the break, we'll give
- 16:46Speaker 1: you our hot takes for the second half of the season.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Jag Zam Hot Takes Today, brought to you by Higher
- 16:54Speaker 1: House Subs. I don't know how boiling of a hot
- 16:57Speaker 1: take they're gonna be. Mine's a pretty hot take. I'll
- 17:00Speaker 1: say that.
- 17:02Speaker 2: We don't have subst hot Well, John, start us off.
- 17:09Speaker 2: What's your hot takeaway?
- 17:12Speaker 5: Now I'm drawing a blank and I was told back
- 17:15Speaker 5: to basics, back to basics, back to contention.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Contention.
- 17:21Speaker 5: By this, I mean they have to get back to
- 17:25Speaker 5: what they were doing early in the season. If they
- 17:28Speaker 5: do that, we saw the highlights. They can be a
- 17:32Speaker 5: team that runs the ball well. Uh, they can be
- 17:35Speaker 5: a team that plays efficiently, and they can be a
- 17:37Speaker 5: team that stops to run defensively. If you do that,
- 17:40Speaker 5: you give yourself a chance for takeaways. I don't necessarily
- 17:44Speaker 5: they're gonna be I don't necessarily think they're going to
- 17:46Speaker 5: be a team that beats really good teams by double digits.
- 17:50Speaker 5: I think, uh, you know, the Chargers are coming up,
- 17:52Speaker 5: the Broncos are coming up, some really good teams. You
- 17:54Speaker 5: have the Colts twice. They can get a few of
- 17:56Speaker 5: those playing the way I'm talking about and then get
- 17:58Speaker 5: the gettable ones. If they play the way they've shown
- 18:02Speaker 5: as they can play, can they get back to that?
- 18:05Speaker 5: That's we're going to start finding out on Sunday, which
- 18:07Speaker 5: is a huge game on Sunday, by the way, against
- 18:09Speaker 5: the Raiders.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Big, massive, big gotta get going in the second half
- 18:14Speaker 4: the right way, and four the next five are on
- 18:17Speaker 4: the road, by the way, well, the road home, neutral,
- 18:20Speaker 4: wherever it is. You have eighteen penalties in the game,
- 18:22Speaker 4: it's not gonna matter too much. So they got to
- 18:24Speaker 4: get this one going if they can get and got
- 18:27Speaker 4: to kind of keep pace with Indy as well right
- 18:28Speaker 4: now until you get those head to head matchups later.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Something to consider.
- 18:32Speaker 1: They do have a ton of divisional matchups the back
- 18:34Speaker 1: half of the season though, so that's in their favor.
- 18:37Speaker 1: But Indie's kind of a runaway train at this point,
- 18:39Speaker 1: so we won't get into that right now.
- 18:41Speaker 2: JP, what is your hot tape for us?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Okay, stay with me here.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Nineteen sixty three, the Bronx Zoo in New York opened
- 18:48Speaker 4: in an exhibit called the Most Dangerous Animal in the World.
- 18:51Speaker 3: And people would walk down a corridor and they look
- 18:53Speaker 3: through the gate and there was a mirror because it's you.
- 18:57Speaker 3: It's the humans, right, and you are the most dangerous
- 19:00Speaker 3: on the planet.
- 19:00Speaker 4: If the Jaguars walking, they are the most dangerous animal
- 19:06Speaker 4: on the planet.
- 19:06Speaker 3: They could hurt themselves. And that's what they've done.
- 19:09Speaker 4: If they overcome that, they can hang with any team, Yes,
- 19:14Speaker 4: even the really good teams left on the schedule. They've
- 19:16Speaker 4: already beaten some really good teams. The Rams game got
- 19:20Speaker 4: away from them. Rams could be a Super Bowl team.
- 19:22Speaker 4: That's fine, but there's no team I don't think that's
- 19:26Speaker 4: just so markedly better on paper than the Jaguars if
- 19:30Speaker 4: they handle their business. So look yourselves in the mirror,
- 19:33Speaker 4: realize that it's you. That it's the toughest team left
- 19:36Speaker 4: on the schedule.
- 19:36Speaker 2: The Jaguars JP's here to motivate. We should lend this
- 19:40Speaker 2: that little story to Leo to give to the team meeting.
- 19:43Speaker 3: I liked it. It's dangerous animal in the world, dangerous yourself.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Danger I'm going hot take because i want this to happen,
- 19:51Speaker 1: so I'm gonna will it into existence. I think Travis
- 19:53Speaker 1: Hunt is gonna lead this team in touchdowns at the
- 19:55Speaker 1: end of the season. I want the focus to be
- 19:57Speaker 1: more now on Travis Hunter. I think they've experimented with
- 20:01Speaker 1: him on both sides of the football. At this point,
- 20:03Speaker 1: you need someone to catch the football, you need someone
- 20:05Speaker 1: to make plays. Travis Hunter's done.
- 20:06Speaker 3: That for you.
- 20:06Speaker 2: He's shown he's capable of doing that.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Give him more responsibility and let him do that for you,
- 20:12Speaker 1: because at this point, giving opportunities to other people that
- 20:14Speaker 1: aren't making those plays, give it to the guy that
- 20:17Speaker 1: can make the play for you.
- 20:18Speaker 4: We're a those thirty minutes into the show and this
- 20:20Speaker 4: is the first Travis Hunter reference that we've had, which
- 20:23Speaker 4: is pretty remarkable considering that he did go over one
- 20:25Speaker 4: hundred out of that in the second half last or
- 20:28Speaker 4: two weeks ago now at Wembley, and it just feels
- 20:31Speaker 4: like you got to get your best player on the
- 20:34Speaker 4: field more both sides of the ball. Put them in
- 20:38Speaker 4: this guy, especially in a position to go perform and
- 20:41Speaker 4: when other people around him may or may not be
- 20:44Speaker 4: performing well.
- 20:45Speaker 5: We were doing highlights and he didn't really have touchdown
- 20:49Speaker 5: highlights in the wins, and I'm with Kay, I think
- 20:54Speaker 5: it's going to change. I think he will be what
- 20:57Speaker 5: the offense starts running through in second half the season.
- 21:00Speaker 5: I'm fascinated to see what that's going to look.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Like because.
- 21:05Speaker 5: It's a little unusual to have the offense run through
- 21:08Speaker 5: his position, which is a little bit of a slot position.
- 21:12Speaker 5: But he's too good not to at this point, and
- 21:16Speaker 5: he's been reliable. I'm not saying he has no drops.
- 21:19Speaker 5: He's caught the ball. His hands are really good. So
- 21:22Speaker 5: I think you're going to see Travis. You know, Travis
- 21:25Speaker 5: and Travis, you know, the two best offensive players so far.
- 21:28Speaker 5: Get Brenton back into that, and then you've got some
- 21:30Speaker 5: go to guys on offense.
- 21:32Speaker 4: And think about if they would have hit some of
- 21:33Speaker 4: those passes to him early in the season, what we
- 21:35Speaker 4: would be talking about, especially nationally with Travis Hunter. He
- 21:38Speaker 4: would have a couple more touchdowns at least and some
- 21:41Speaker 4: big plays and big moments early and that you know
- 21:44Speaker 4: had the p I in that game against Cincinnati, right
- 21:48Speaker 4: So if those aren't there, if those are there he
- 21:51Speaker 4: has catches early, then it's a whole different narrative right
- 21:53Speaker 4: now about.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Hunter And I think a point to mention as well
- 21:57Speaker 1: is that this team has spread out all the touchdowns.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I think we five or six players have one touchdown.
- 22:01Speaker 2: A Hunter Long is leading your team with receiving touchdowns
- 22:04Speaker 2: at this point.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Yeah, first two in his career of all things. But
- 22:07Speaker 3: it was just good for him.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Those are great that the Jags have those touchdowns, kai
- 22:11Speaker 4: but happy for them. But they need wide receivers in
- 22:14Speaker 4: there to make places.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Hunter Long did not have Hunter Long in that preseason prediction.
- 22:19Speaker 1: As the first touchdown as well, and leading we look
- 22:21Speaker 1: at the buye so say with us, We'll tell you
- 22:24Speaker 1: what's coming up the rest of the week. Here is
- 22:25Speaker 1: to prepare for the Raiders game on Sunday. T Exam
- 22:32Speaker 1: brought to you by mister Chubby's Cheer on your Jaguars
- 22:34Speaker 1: as they traveled to Las Vegas to take on the
- 22:36Speaker 1: Raiders this Sunday at the official away game watch party
- 22:39Speaker 1: that's taking place at mister Chubby's West Side location, JP,
- 22:43Speaker 1: youre going to be there, Well, I'll be here.
- 22:45Speaker 4: We got Jaguars and Postgame, the Public's tailgate show and
- 22:51Speaker 4: all the things.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Maybe you'll get some mister chubbies delivered.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Maybe the move maybe today because they you know, Monday
- 22:56Speaker 4: Jaguars Happy Hour coming up four to six each Monday
- 22:59Speaker 4: on tonight.
- 23:00Speaker 3: I am Jaguars dot Com and Jaguars YouTube.
- 23:02Speaker 5: I just found out that they had a west Side location.
- 23:04Speaker 5: I thought they were d the Beach. West Side is
- 23:07Speaker 5: closer to me, and for people that have done their
- 23:10Speaker 5: food's insanely good.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they really don't have to pay us to say it.
- 23:14Speaker 2: It's true.
- 23:15Speaker 5: I might go over to the Westside.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Those ub style wings love that.
- 23:18Speaker 4: And then I think we're supposed to have a happy
- 23:20Speaker 4: Hour Monday later in the season from the Beach location,
- 23:23Speaker 4: which is always.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Live on location. Yeah, we love that. Get the face.
- 23:26Speaker 3: We're working on the deats right now.
- 23:28Speaker 2: We're on the deats. Good to know. Well, we're working
- 23:30Speaker 2: on the deats for this week. We're back in action.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Some of the schedules similar, some of it's a little
- 23:34Speaker 1: bit different. We'll hear from Liam Cohen a little bit
- 23:36Speaker 1: later on today. I'm looking to see here to hear
- 23:39Speaker 1: about some of the injuries on the defensive side of
- 23:41Speaker 1: the FOOTBA. Obviously, Trayvon Walker has been back playing, but
- 23:43Speaker 1: hopefully I think he's getting potentially a different cast on
- 23:46Speaker 1: his hands. We'll be able to use his hands a
- 23:48Speaker 1: little bit more during the past rush. And then also
- 23:51Speaker 1: hoping to get an update on Devin Lloyd. We haven't
- 23:53Speaker 1: heard about that just yet, have we?
- 23:54Speaker 4: Well I have, and I mean that's and they may
- 23:57Speaker 4: not even tell you anything today with that. It's sure
- 23:59Speaker 4: of those lists see how the injury report happens as
- 24:01Speaker 4: the week goes along. But that the calf thing, you
- 24:04Speaker 4: don't want that to linger because that leads to other
- 24:06Speaker 4: things and can just stay that handstring that whole area.
- 24:10Speaker 4: I gotta nip that in the button if there's any
- 24:12Speaker 4: issue at all. I think I'd said about another week,
- 24:15Speaker 4: But this is what the bie week does a lot
- 24:17Speaker 4: of times, you know, this is this has been a
- 24:18Speaker 4: banged up team, John and those little those little bumps
- 24:21Speaker 4: and bruises that happen for some other guys too. Okay,
- 24:24Speaker 4: they've got ten games to go. This should be as
- 24:27Speaker 4: fresh as they'll be the rest of the season.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Yeah, they've been fortunate in one sense and that these
- 24:31Speaker 5: injuries are not season ending. But you also you also
- 24:34Speaker 5: throw Brenton Strange into that and mix and you're talking Strange, Walker,
- 24:37Speaker 5: and Lloyd. I could argue those are three of your
- 24:40Speaker 5: top five guys who have been out, out or limited.
- 24:44Speaker 5: You can overcome injuries core guys, which those guys are.
- 24:48Speaker 2: They need them back, They get back soon. We'll hear
- 24:51Speaker 2: from coaching and some players as well later today.
- 24:54Speaker 1: We'll be back with you here on Jagsam on Wednesday
- 24:56Speaker 1: to giving an update on what's going on this week.
