- 0:18Speaker 1: nice to finally like get up with you. I've been
- 0:20Speaker 1: talking to Davey. I'm like, bro, you guys got this girl.
- 0:22Speaker 1: She's from my hometown. She's like the only person popping.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We got a talk.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I'm really excited to be here.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So what part of Phoenix are you from?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Seventh and Baseline?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Seventh, Oh, you're from the south side. I like, my
- 0:36Speaker 1: best friend lived on twenty fourth Street in Baseline when
- 0:38Speaker 1: I was a kid, So I spent my whole childhood
- 0:40Speaker 1: hanging out in the coult de Sac on the south side.
- 0:43Speaker 2: What a great place.
- 0:44Speaker 1: And then I think like, yeah, because like South Mountain
- 0:46Speaker 1: Community College is right there h seventh in Baseline. It's
- 0:49Speaker 1: changed right.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Oh my god, there's like a target.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And all kinds of shit over there.
- 0:54Speaker 2: There is a white man living in the house I
- 0:56Speaker 2: grew up in. I was so confused for.
- 0:59Speaker 1: People who don't know the South Side of Phoenix was
- 1:01Speaker 1: kind of like the African American American side of town. Yes, right, yes, yes,
- 1:06Speaker 1: it's like a very you know.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Different, there's a different there. There was a Target, which
- 1:11Speaker 2: was like okay, cool with that, right, awesome, and then
- 1:14Speaker 2: now there was like a whole foods and shit. When
- 1:16Speaker 2: I went back, I was so confused.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And then everybody moved to Levine. They bought houses in Levine. Yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 1: although we could get a house for one hundred and
- 1:24Speaker 1: ten thousand dollars in this suburb on the south side.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so crazy, but.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Still I love it. Yeah. So when did you make
- 1:33Speaker 1: the move to Los Angeles to pursue your hopes and dreams.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I was young. I was sixteen. I moved on my
- 1:38Speaker 2: own with my eighteen year old best friend.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Wow. So did you finish school?
- 1:43Speaker 2: No, I technically did so. Technically I had a GED okay,
- 1:48Speaker 2: and I graduated.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Do you have a GD and a diploma? Yes and special.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I was on the field for the and I was
- 1:57Speaker 2: on the field with my with the classmates from the
- 2:02Speaker 2: high school that I went to before I dropped out
- 2:05Speaker 2: when I was going to online school.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I've never met anybody with both. Yeah, it's pretty uh,
- 2:11Speaker 1: that's that's that's extra. Like I got the gend and
- 2:15Speaker 1: I got the diploma, because why not get both? The way,
- 2:19Speaker 1: what school did you go to? Were you like that
- 2:20Speaker 1: you walked out on the field on not the online
- 2:22Speaker 1: school because.
- 2:23Speaker 2: So I went to school in Albatuki two years all?
- 2:27Speaker 1: Why two kids? Mountain Point?
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Where'd you go? Mountain Point? Yeah? Yeah, he's a data
- 2:32Speaker 1: girl who went to Mountain Point. I'm sorry she went
- 2:34Speaker 1: to it. Did you know anybody who went to eve
- 2:36Speaker 1: IT at the time you heard it? Eve It though?
- 2:39Speaker 1: East Valley Institute of Technology like kids, kids would go
- 2:42Speaker 1: there like for their electives. No, that's where I went
- 2:45Speaker 1: to school for radio broadcasting. It's in Mesa. It's on
- 2:49Speaker 1: Maine and uh home school, okay, Mesa?
- 2:52Speaker 2: So East Valley Children's Theater that I don't know what
- 2:56Speaker 2: that is.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That sounds amazing. Yeah, So what's it like being like,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you know, listen, there's some great talent in Arizona. I
- 3:03Speaker 1: don't want to shit on Arizona, but you're kind of
- 3:05Speaker 1: like the only like super fucking lid person from Phoenix
- 3:09Speaker 1: right now?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Thank you. It's so crazy, Like I feel, first of all,
- 3:15Speaker 2: I feel kind of like isolated and like almost like
- 3:18Speaker 2: I have to prove myself because people don't know nothing
- 3:20Speaker 2: about Phoenix, right, and they don't know anything about Arizona.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So everyone just assumes like everybody's white, everybody's Trump supporters,
- 3:26Speaker 2: which there is a lot of that. There is a
- 3:28Speaker 2: lot of that.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Also, Arizona went Biden last selection somehow.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know there's also a lot of us.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So, yeah, it's a very like wild place because like
- 3:39Speaker 1: it is where everyone goes to retire. There is a
- 3:42Speaker 1: lot of old white folks. But it's also like where
- 3:47Speaker 1: it goes down. Everyone's strapped, the fucking cartels running shit.
- 3:51Speaker 1: It's a crazy place. Yeah, there's gangs, there's it's a
- 3:55Speaker 1: fucking Arizona's a wild place, for sure. It's just it's
- 3:58Speaker 1: kind of like Florida, Like Florida's a fucked up place,
- 4:00Speaker 1: but it's also a place rich people go to die.
- 4:03Speaker 2: No, it's literally the desert version of Florida.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It is the desert version of Florida. Yeah, for sure.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Do you feel like Mexico La is lacking a Philiberto's
- 4:12Speaker 1: style option of food? That's a twenty four hours a day.
- 4:15Speaker 2: That is so funny you said that because that was
- 4:17Speaker 2: like when I went to Arizona, that was like one
- 4:20Speaker 2: of the first places I wanted to go.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I just feel like, how are we in LA and
- 4:23Speaker 1: I can't get a burrito at any time of the night.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I mean, like, if you're in Arizona, you can go
- 4:29Speaker 1: to Phillies at six thirty in the morning, you can
- 4:33Speaker 1: go at three am, you can go out here? Does
- 4:36Speaker 1: taco trucks close it too? Like, I don't know where
- 4:38Speaker 1: else you're supposed to go to get food except McDonald's,
- 4:41Speaker 1: and we're in LA. The city is not supposed to sleep.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not trying to get McDonald's either.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Terrible twenty four hour of food options in Los Angeles.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Go to Christine's mom's house, Christine's mom's house in the
- 4:51Speaker 1: valley in the eight one A. Yeah, I'm like, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 1: Phillies is not the greatest Mexican food, but it's there.
- 4:57Speaker 1: It's there, It's it's dependable. You know, you can go
- 5:00Speaker 1: get a California Breed or anytime, but then after the
- 5:02Speaker 1: club you might be shit faced. Go to Phillies or
- 5:05Speaker 1: Roberto's or Romero's or Julio Berto's or any type of
- 5:08Speaker 1: birth dough. It's a lot of birth dows out there
- 5:10Speaker 1: there is, So how did you initially, like, okay, you're
- 5:13Speaker 1: sixteen years old, you decided to move to LA. Were
- 5:16Speaker 1: you already kind of like garnering up like a buzz
- 5:18Speaker 1: or did you just come out here like I'm gonna
- 5:21Speaker 1: fuck it. I'm gonna just leave home and go chase
- 5:23Speaker 1: this shit.
- 5:24Speaker 2: So it started off with my mom putting me in. Uh.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I mean, first of all, I was saying, dancing, acting
- 5:32Speaker 2: my whole life, just like East Vallee Children's theater and
- 5:35Speaker 2: like Value theater and doing musical theater, doing pageants all
- 5:39Speaker 2: the shit.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 5:39Speaker 2: My mom really sacrificed a lot for me and my
- 5:41Speaker 2: stepdad was a lot for me to do that. So
- 5:44Speaker 2: really grateful for that. So I started with that since
- 5:47Speaker 2: I was like three years old, okay, and then was
- 5:52Speaker 2: put in by my mom a competition, a singing competition online.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Okay through Kids Bop. Oh, they were.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Doing like a separate thing called kid Star USA.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Okay, shout out to the kids Bop albums.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Kids, So they were doing that. I ended up winning
- 6:09Speaker 2: the competition. My mom didn't tell me until I was
- 6:11Speaker 2: in like top five that I was even in the.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Competitions, right, So I submitted you you had no idea
- 6:16Speaker 1: exactly by the way your top five, you might your
- 6:18Speaker 1: life might.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Change, you might exactly.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And the prize was to win a record deal, okay,
- 6:24Speaker 2: And so I was I think I was a Yeah,
- 6:29Speaker 2: I was a freshman by the time I had won,
- 6:32Speaker 2: and they came to my school and did this whole
- 6:33Speaker 2: like assembly thing.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Wow.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It was like really extra as fuck, but it was
- 6:38Speaker 2: so cool. So that then I went to New York
- 6:42Speaker 2: and signed with my first record deal. And then that's
- 6:47Speaker 2: when I started kind of going back and forth between
- 6:49Speaker 2: Phoenix and La a lot. And then there was times
- 6:54Speaker 2: where I was like living in La pretty much for
- 6:57Speaker 2: like a month, and then I would go back home
- 6:58Speaker 2: and just like come on my own, right. And then
- 7:02Speaker 2: I was officially here when I was sixteen, and then
- 7:07Speaker 2: I got dropped when I was seventeen.
- 7:10Speaker 1: From the Kids Bop la first label.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Well, I was touring with Kids Bop for a little bit.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Okay, okay, what's that? Wait? Wait, wait, what's the tour
- 7:17Speaker 1: with kids Bob? Who's Who's it goes off?
- 7:20Speaker 2: It's crazy?
- 7:21Speaker 1: Is it just a bunch of people's like a bunch
- 7:23Speaker 1: of children on stage, singing like in the club.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yeah, like five kids just like go showing h's your birthday? Yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 2: We're gonna party like it's your birth.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And you're on stage doing all the renditions, dancing. What's
- 7:35Speaker 1: the most ridiculous show? What's what was the most inappropriate
- 7:38Speaker 1: kids Bop? So because some of the songs, you're like,
- 7:40Speaker 1: how did they How did that make it to a
- 7:41Speaker 1: kids Bop compilation?
- 7:43Speaker 2: I think one of the ones that we perform, well, okay,
- 7:47Speaker 2: we performed what's that Maclamore song? Were you talking about
- 7:50Speaker 2: being in the.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Same oh, thrift shop?
- 7:52Speaker 2: That was called thrift shop. I'm like, you're talking about
- 7:55Speaker 2: being shop thrift shop. We did that one and it's like,
- 7:58Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot of like rapping in it,
- 8:00Speaker 2: so we had to change a lot of words. They
- 8:01Speaker 2: were not appropriate for kids, So that was interesting. The
- 8:04Speaker 2: things that we changed it to were really funny. And
- 8:06Speaker 2: then Locked out of Heaven that was also really.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Bruno Mars, Yeah, yeah, Bruno Mars. If you listen to
- 8:13Speaker 1: his lyrics sometimes you're like, oh, yeah, it's almost like
- 8:16Speaker 1: when you listen to the Weekend shit, Like you really
- 8:18Speaker 1: listen and you're like, oh, the Weekend might have a
- 8:22Speaker 1: drug problem.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I love that though.
- 8:25Speaker 1: The Weekend's my favorite, probably my favorite, Like I mean,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I just love I don't know if I listened to
- 8:30Speaker 1: anyone more than the Weekend. I love the Weekend. He's amazing.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Did you see him at a so far?
- 8:36Speaker 2: No? But she did?
- 8:37Speaker 1: It was fucking fire.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Really.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I went the night before he didn't perform because he
- 8:42Speaker 1: you know, he came out on stage and like apologized
- 8:44Speaker 1: to everybody because his voice wasn't you know, oh no,
- 8:47Speaker 1: which I actually liked because most people would have just
- 8:49Speaker 1: pushed through. But he was like, nah, I gotta do
- 8:52Speaker 1: this the right way. We're in LA. But he's amazing.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Dam did he come and like he spends it?
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah, he redid it a few I say. I think
- 9:00Speaker 1: it's like a month and a half or two later
- 9:02Speaker 1: and then it's on HBO. Now I just watched it.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Tripping on shrooms?
- 9:05Speaker 2: Oh good for you? Should I do that?
- 9:08Speaker 1: You want to eat rooms right now? M mmm?
- 9:12Speaker 2: I mean Christine would have advice against.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Okay, I just gotta ask because we do have them.
- 9:17Speaker 1: We have the raw, we have the gummies. You just
- 9:19Speaker 1: let me know. Me and Ray Shimmer were Truman hard
- 9:22Speaker 1: during our interview. Really yes, like things are getting real realistic. Yes,
- 9:27Speaker 1: you enjoy psilocybin.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I really enjoy it. And I don't do nothing. I
- 9:31Speaker 2: don't drink good I don't smoke weed. I don't do nothing.
- 9:35Speaker 2: But you'll you'll partake in I just said nothing, but
- 9:39Speaker 2: my rooms.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Shrooms are great.
- 9:40Speaker 2: They're amazing. Yeah, they're literle like medicine.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I have people who, like a couple of my friends,
- 9:45Speaker 1: they'll microdose before they work out because it gives them
- 9:47Speaker 1: like a little more focused, little more energy.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And like a little lyft.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Yeah I read that. Have you eve Ben a d mt? No,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I want to try it. I'm scared.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think I would do it. Why
- 9:58Speaker 2: not because I'm by I pulled her as.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Fuck and might get rid of that.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I'm not well. The mushrooms do that for me. I'm good.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'm good with that. Maybe maybe one day.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Or ayahuasca like Aaron Rodgers, you.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Want to do ayahuasca, though, I actually do.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I heard that change it. That's like thirty years.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Chelsea Handler do it on her show.
- 10:15Speaker 1: How was that?
- 10:16Speaker 2: It was so interesting? Like she was like crying at
- 10:20Speaker 2: the end and shit talking.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I have a friend who changed their whole life.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Her sister, and like it just changes everything. I mean,
- 10:25Speaker 2: mushrooms did that for me too the first time.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I how much would you eat though? Did you eat
- 10:28Speaker 1: a lot? Well?
- 10:30Speaker 2: I we made it in tea.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Oh that's so.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It was good because it was like I could just
- 10:35Speaker 2: slowly get into it and take more and more, and
- 10:37Speaker 2: I didn't know what to expect.
- 10:38Speaker 1: That's which I love bellies like that. Belly only likes
- 10:41Speaker 1: it in tea. He's like big shrowd guy, but he
- 10:44Speaker 1: drinks it. I don't know if I could drink it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: There's like no escaping if you drink it.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I feel like you actually can well from what I
- 10:52Speaker 2: was told. But like if you go to I went
- 10:55Speaker 2: to Amsterdam and they like, it's so different there because.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It's like it's like, yeah, it's just how it is.
- 11:02Speaker 2: It's like a dispensary.
- 11:03Speaker 1: But it's like New York City now different. Have you
- 11:05Speaker 1: been in New York recently? You just go to the
- 11:06Speaker 1: liquor store, Like literally the corner store in New York
- 11:09Speaker 1: City they got shrooms right behind the counter. It's fucking
- 11:13Speaker 1: in New York City. You could buy a blunt an
- 11:16Speaker 1: eighth and some mushrooms all at the Bodaga.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Now, well we'll be there.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Why it's the wild wild water right now, you'll see
- 11:25Speaker 1: just anywhere where they got like a smoke shop, just
- 11:28Speaker 1: walk in. They right behind the counter, it's on display.
- 11:31Speaker 2: That's good, you got there. Yeah. And Amsterdam, they said
- 11:34Speaker 2: that I love it because they like actually educate you
- 11:37Speaker 2: and like they'll give you like a slip and like
- 11:38Speaker 2: tell you exactly how to do it. But they were saying,
- 11:41Speaker 2: if you start to feel too high or you're like
- 11:44Speaker 2: not feeling good, just drink juice. As soon as you
- 11:47Speaker 2: eat something with like a high amount of sugar in it,
- 11:51Speaker 2: it will start bringing down your high.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I'd rather eat too much shrooms than eat too much weed,
- 11:57Speaker 1: because eating too much wheat is terrible. It's the worst
- 12:01Speaker 1: shit ever you've ever had, like a like a bad
- 12:03Speaker 1: edible e space.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It's the worst I've never had that, but I've I've
- 12:06Speaker 2: literally I can't even do CBD, that's how bad it is.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Well, I don't think CBD is a thing. I think
- 12:14Speaker 1: it's like, you know, one of those things where like
- 12:16Speaker 1: mentally you think it's supposed to help you out, but
- 12:18Speaker 1: it's like it's a placebo effect. It's like you got
- 12:21Speaker 1: a CBD massage. My wife got a CBD massage in
- 12:25Speaker 1: Palm Springs this weekend. So what do you think that is?
- 12:28Speaker 1: What the fuck are they gonna do? They're gonna rub
- 12:30Speaker 1: CBD on you. Here's a blunt smoking.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it's not good for me.
- 12:36Speaker 1: So you get paranoid.
- 12:37Speaker 2: No, I had like a full on episode like it
- 12:39Speaker 2: was bad.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So you're out on the four twenty on THHC. It's
- 12:42Speaker 1: not for you.
- 12:43Speaker 2: No, that's good. None of that. I'll celebrate with mushrooms.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Shrooms are amazing. You have a lot of tattoos, Yeah,
- 12:48Speaker 1: I do. Can we explain a few of the more
- 12:51Speaker 1: notable ones that you would feel like, you know, because
- 12:53Speaker 1: you got you got a lot, and they're very like
- 12:57Speaker 1: there's mother father, There looks to be a church. There
- 13:00Speaker 1: is that a hookah? Or is that a genie lamp?
- 13:04Speaker 2: No, it's actually an old perfume.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Okay, it's a perfume bottle.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but I like that.
- 13:08Speaker 1: People are like a jellyfish.
- 13:10Speaker 2: A jellyfish is my favorite animal. This is there's a
- 13:13Speaker 2: type of jellyfish. I think it's called the eternal jellyfish.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Why do you love them so much?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Because it's the only animal. I mean, they're just cool,
- 13:20Speaker 2: like they don't have brains and they're living, like they're
- 13:22Speaker 2: literally just like floating around, but they're alive and like
- 13:25Speaker 2: they're not really conscious, Like it's I just saw crazy thought.
- 13:30Speaker 2: But this eternal jellyfish, it can live forever. It's the
- 13:34Speaker 2: only animal that lives forever.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Oh shit.
- 13:37Speaker 2: So once it's like it, I think it's something like
- 13:39Speaker 2: if if it gets like it feels a threat or
- 13:44Speaker 2: something happening, it just starts with the life cycle all
- 13:47Speaker 2: the way over and goes back to being a pull.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Up and then we'll start that's wild.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Isn't that crazy?
- 13:52Speaker 1: Have you ever been to Rocky Point?
- 13:53Speaker 2: No?
- 13:54Speaker 1: I was in Rocky Point last summer and I was
- 13:56Speaker 1: surrounded by jellyfish, and I cry like a bitch. Was afraid.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I was like, my fucking I'm gonna have to get
- 14:02Speaker 1: pissed on. Did you get done? I didn't. I was afraid.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I was like someone's trying, like they were everywhere. I
- 14:08Speaker 1: just all of a sudden, I looked around and I
- 14:10Speaker 1: was like, is that a plastic oh ship, it's a
- 14:13Speaker 1: fucking it's like seven jellyfish. I wasn't actually crying, but
- 14:16Speaker 1: I really was like I'm done. I started panicking.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I know that feeling though. I was in Australia one time.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I was like, some dude's gonna have to pee on me,
- 14:25Speaker 1: Like I don't even know the guy. No, no, no, no,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I'm okay. Never shots r Kelly, but I'll passed hard,
- 14:34Speaker 1: pass hard past on the stranger pe Okay. So what
- 14:38Speaker 1: else do we have here? What is the fruit on
- 14:40Speaker 1: your shoulder? Is that a fruit? This thing rare rare? This?
- 14:44Speaker 2: Oh? This is uh?
- 14:47Speaker 1: He has a not a fruit? Oh so he has
- 14:51Speaker 1: a He actually has an art museum in St. Petersburg, Florida,
- 14:54Speaker 1: where I used to live. Really, the Balley Museum is there?
- 14:57Speaker 2: That's dope?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 14:59Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's an with a flower coming out of it.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you got some vibes? What is well? Who's Nancy?
- 15:06Speaker 2: That's my grandma?
- 15:06Speaker 1: Shout outs to Grandma. Got to pay homage to Grahams.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Do you like to play craps? Is that why you
- 15:12Speaker 1: have dice? No?
- 15:14Speaker 2: I have dice because I've been rolling the dice since
- 15:16Speaker 2: ninety seven. It's a fixed nine.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I like that. Are you were you born in eighty seven? Wow?
- 15:21Speaker 1: When were you born eighty seven?
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 15:25Speaker 1: I got a decade. I remember ninety seven? Do you
- 15:27Speaker 1: do you really for sure? What's what is like the
- 15:30Speaker 1: most vivid memory you have from ninety seven walking around
- 15:33Speaker 1: Christown Mall without my parents? Do you have any parents?
- 15:38Speaker 2: What happened?
- 15:38Speaker 1: Because I was a bad kid who would like all
- 15:41Speaker 1: my friends are older, so I'd be like ten years
- 15:43Speaker 1: old running around on the Red Line in Phoenix, fucking
- 15:46Speaker 1: going to Metro Center and the Christown Mall watching my
- 15:49Speaker 1: friends steel stuff. Oh my god, yeah, Valley Metro good place. Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 1: So for you, it's been a long time since you
- 15:58Speaker 1: put out music pre pandemic, even what's been going on,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I've just.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Honestly, God, I've been writing whole time. Album is ready
- 16:13Speaker 2: to come out now. I think there's just been a
- 16:15Speaker 2: lot of obstacles that have come up that I've had
- 16:21Speaker 2: to kind of maneuver around to make it to this point.
- 16:25Speaker 2: So I'm just I've just been trying to like.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Personal stuff, business stuff, folks, and.
- 16:32Speaker 2: A lot of times they are both. I'm an artist,
- 16:36Speaker 2: so like my work is me, so everything I take
- 16:40Speaker 2: everything really personally, which is also like kind of bad.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I need to work on like separating it a little
- 16:44Speaker 2: bit more. But but yeah, everything is like super personal
- 16:48Speaker 2: to me. So pretty much everything that has to.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Do with work is like so the album is called Grudges.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Correct why Grudges?
- 16:58Speaker 2: I hold a grudge very easily.
- 17:00Speaker 1: It's hard for me to get from the south Side.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I get it.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really it's really hard for me to just
- 17:04Speaker 2: be like okay, because also, like loyalty is everything to me.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So like if I'm and I really try to be
- 17:10Speaker 2: like the best friend that I can to people, I'm
- 17:11Speaker 2: just like a good person. So if I'm being what
- 17:16Speaker 2: I think is an amazing front to you and you
- 17:19Speaker 2: think I'm be an amazing front to you, and you're
- 17:22Speaker 2: like just fucking living in it, and then you do
- 17:26Speaker 2: something to fuck me over, it just shows me what
- 17:28Speaker 2: kind of person you are, because I don't I don't
- 17:31Speaker 2: change like coming into no situation. I'm always gonna be myself.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I'm always going to be open.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Have you Praakeed dealt with a lot of that being
- 17:38Speaker 1: in LA because the music industry is full of the weirdest,
- 17:40Speaker 1: which is.
- 17:41Speaker 2: So shitty to say, because I feel like a lot
- 17:42Speaker 2: of times it's like I wanted to say, like, oh,
- 17:45Speaker 2: it just gets a bad rap or like, no, it's
- 17:48Speaker 2: just not really like that.
- 17:49Speaker 1: It's probably truth.
- 17:51Speaker 2: It is the truth.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Most people who are like your associates or friends here
- 17:54Speaker 1: are only that as long as they see the benefit
- 17:58Speaker 1: coming down the pipeline. Or it's like trust me, I know. Yeah,
- 18:02Speaker 1: it's crazy.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Everybody's kind of off for themselves. But I have met
- 18:07Speaker 2: a few few real ones, but a few ruins for sure,
- 18:10Speaker 2: that's for sure, a few grounded people.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Is your eighteen year old best friend from Phoenix who
- 18:14Speaker 1: you moved out here with still around.
- 18:16Speaker 2: She's not here, but she's going to move back.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Oh what she doing?
- 18:20Speaker 2: She actually moved to South Mountain too, which she didn't
- 18:24Speaker 2: live there. She moved to South Phoenix voluntarily. Yeah. Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 2: well her mom.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Lives there, so she like went, oh, she's coming back.
- 18:33Speaker 2: But she likes it because, like she hikes every day
- 18:35Speaker 2: and you know, it's a friend over there.
- 18:37Speaker 1: She's hot. It's really hot. Yeah remember that heat wave. Bruh,
- 18:43Speaker 1: it felt like Phoenix for like two months.
- 18:45Speaker 2: People don't understand the heat of Phoenix.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll get in the car and get a third
- 18:49Speaker 1: degree burning from your fucking.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Seatnel literally literally, it's so crazy, Like when I I
- 18:55Speaker 2: can't when I go back, I just am so spoiled here.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Now as a kid, are you like listening to MC
- 19:02Speaker 1: magic and mb Ritis? You know who they are? Though?
- 19:05Speaker 1: Like you know who MC magic is as a kid.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I mean it's more like you know the Latin side
- 19:09Speaker 1: of things. But you weren't an EMC Magic fan, just
- 19:12Speaker 1: your friend over there from.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, she's yeah, that's like all she listened to.
- 19:19Speaker 1: All I listened to was little rob Amanda Perez a
- 19:23Speaker 1: n b Ritis.
- 19:25Speaker 2: No, but it's because my so the way that I
- 19:34Speaker 2: the only way I know my culture and have been
- 19:36Speaker 2: informed is from my surroundings growing up. My grandpa was
- 19:42Speaker 2: deported when before my mom was born, so I never
- 19:45Speaker 2: got to know the Mexican side of my family. We're
- 19:47Speaker 2: like finding them on Danna ancestry, which is crazy, like
- 19:50Speaker 2: getting in contact with like cousins and uncles and shit,
- 19:54Speaker 2: it's wild. So I'm trying to find her dad because
- 19:56Speaker 2: we don't even know like where it is or like
- 19:57Speaker 2: we're guessing who he is.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been like a whole So you're Mexican and
- 20:02Speaker 1: what black? Okay? Yeah, so you like the whole Mexican
- 20:07Speaker 1: vibe going on in Phoenix just kind of passed you.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Like there was like the lowrider shows that were crazy
- 20:12Speaker 1: and like yeah, what, Yes, did you ever go to
- 20:15Speaker 1: the swap meet like on like fortieth Street in Washington.
- 20:18Speaker 1: That's where I got my name. I was there selling
- 20:20Speaker 1: mixtapes and DVDs and fake purses and fake Jordan's.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Almost got arrested like eleven times. I've been banned from
- 20:27Speaker 1: the swap meet by the airport, like at least ten times.
- 20:31Speaker 1: They told me to never come back. So I would
- 20:33Speaker 1: just book my spot under a different name every time,
- 20:36Speaker 1: and then I'd pay the guys to like let me
- 20:37Speaker 1: know when the security was walking around, and I'd just
- 20:39Speaker 1: walk off. How old were you sixteen, seventeen eighteen? I
- 20:43Speaker 1: had like a newborn kid when I was eighteen.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Like I'm still doing it today.
- 20:47Speaker 1: No, I'm not. I'm not, I'm not. But I still
- 20:51Speaker 1: do get random WhatsApp messages from like Chinese ladies who
- 20:55Speaker 1: have shit for sale. So they'll send me like a
- 20:58Speaker 1: link and be like new product the vail and I'll
- 21:01Speaker 1: be like, damn, they're bootlegging iPods and not iPods, the
- 21:05Speaker 1: AirPod like the ads you know those three big heavy
- 21:08Speaker 1: duty Yeah, you can get those counterfeit, and they're supposed
- 21:12Speaker 1: to sound the same. Wow, I can't get anything counterfeit,
- 21:15Speaker 1: Mac makeup. That was a vibe for a little bit
- 21:17Speaker 1: slang in that Mac. You know what I'm saying.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Did you know where that was coming from?
- 21:22Speaker 1: China? Yeah? I was literally I would like I would
- 21:25Speaker 1: literally get on like MSN Messenger with like a little
- 21:28Speaker 1: Chinese lady on webcam and she would show me.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Shit and she'd be like wow, and then send it
- 21:33Speaker 2: to you.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'd be like, show me the Larry Fitzgerald Jersey, let
- 21:35Speaker 1: me see the back. Wow, you get fifty of those.
- 21:39Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 21:40Speaker 1: That's a great swat me, great place. Okay, so why
- 21:44Speaker 1: is there? So you got all your affairs in order,
- 21:46Speaker 1: all the all the stuff you went through is finally
- 21:48Speaker 1: kind of settled, and now we have the album? Yes?
- 21:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, So what I was gonna say was the
- 21:55Speaker 2: album also had a different name before Okay, it was
- 21:59Speaker 2: called Closure. And then as we added more songs and
- 22:04Speaker 2: I did more sessions and I was going through more
- 22:06Speaker 2: shit in my life, it just didn't feel like I
- 22:10Speaker 2: had closure on nothing Like it felt like, oh okay,
- 22:13Speaker 2: I'm just like literally talking shit and I am I'm
- 22:16Speaker 2: talking about all the shit that I'm going through and
- 22:19Speaker 2: there's no answer to none of the things that I'm
- 22:21Speaker 2: putting out there. So it's grudges and not closure.
- 22:25Speaker 1: So the new song with LMA, it seemed did someone
- 22:28Speaker 1: play you? Is that what happened?
- 22:31Speaker 2: I mean people always play We just talked about this,
- 22:34Speaker 2: We just talked about how.
- 22:35Speaker 1: I'm saying, were you like? Because because at first of all,
- 22:37Speaker 1: I love the song because it's definitely like a relatable
- 22:40Speaker 1: song because a lot of people try to act like
- 22:41Speaker 1: they're not jealous people, but you know, like you're like, yo,
- 22:45Speaker 1: drop all your bitches, or don't drop all your bitches,
- 22:47Speaker 1: but drop all Yeah is that something you actually went through?
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so I've had that feeling.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So I.
- 22:56Speaker 2: The thing about me is like I'm one of those
- 22:58Speaker 2: people who says I'm not a jealous person.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Where every by the way, every woman ever is that.
- 23:03Speaker 2: No, no, no, but no, they're all, I'm not jealous.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Who the fuck is this bitch like in your photo?
- 23:08Speaker 2: No, you can ask Christine. That's my best friend and
- 23:10Speaker 2: my manager. She's literally with me every single day because
- 23:14Speaker 2: she has to be. But you would choose, but literally,
- 23:18Speaker 2: I'm not jealous. The only thing that I'm I get
- 23:21Speaker 2: jealous about, which is so valid. Okay, is Instagram, which
- 23:25Speaker 2: is okay liking other people's photos, like other bitches photos.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I'm just asking. I just have to ask, Like, Okay,
- 23:36Speaker 1: if it's like a girl who's like bent over and
- 23:38Speaker 1: says Lincoln Bio, yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 2: For sure, I'd be pick.
- 23:42Speaker 1: It's a problem.
- 23:43Speaker 2: But it's like like girls that like you don't even know,
- 23:47Speaker 2: like you don't even be knowing them, and they're like,
- 23:49Speaker 2: you know, I love a girl and the bikini pick,
- 23:51Speaker 2: I have a bikini pick. We all do it. It's great, right,
- 23:54Speaker 2: but if my partner is liking that person's pictures, you
- 23:58Speaker 2: don't even know her first of all. Second of all,
- 24:01Speaker 2: she's not looking out for you, right she guys don't
- 24:04Speaker 2: give a fuck if you're liking her pictures.
- 24:06Speaker 1: So that's that's the line in the Sandie.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yes, it's just like why because I'm okay with like
- 24:11Speaker 2: you looking at the picture enjoying it and then scrolling like.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I know we all are, but don't double tap.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Don't double tap? Why why do you have to go
- 24:19Speaker 2: to the extra mile because you want attention? So what
- 24:21Speaker 2: do you want the attention? Yeah?
- 24:22Speaker 1: What do you want what do you want that person?
- 24:26Speaker 1: That's what If they're just following the person, is that
- 24:29Speaker 1: a problem? No?
- 24:32Speaker 2: No, That's what I'm saying, Like, I I understand that
- 24:34Speaker 2: we're attracted to people, right, Like do you follow?
- 24:38Speaker 1: Like I'm trying to figure out what the female equation
- 24:40Speaker 1: or equivalent is to you know, guys will follow IG thoughts, right,
- 24:45Speaker 1: Are there dude versions of that that I'm just not
- 24:47Speaker 1: hip to? Like, are there guys with like twelve like
- 24:50Speaker 1: twelve packs? I don't even think that's real. That'd be
- 24:52Speaker 1: definitely surgical if that's the thing.
- 24:53Speaker 2: I'm sure there is, but I don't want to see it.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I be following the Instagram girls because they're women are
- 24:58Speaker 2: just so much more beautiful.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I agree, you'll follow the IG women as well. Yeah, okay,
- 25:03Speaker 1: so yeah, okay, don't be tapping. Don't don't double.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Tap, don't do it, like, just don't do it. Why,
- 25:10Speaker 2: especially because it's like for nothing, right, You're not you're
- 25:13Speaker 2: not going to get that attention you're seeking.
- 25:15Speaker 1: You're hoping that you get. Yeah yeah yeah, and then
- 25:17Speaker 1: you look crazy because if like one of your mutual friends.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Is like yo, sees that they're liking their show man is.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Over here double tapping Rosa Costa's fucking aspects exactly.
- 25:27Speaker 2: And my worst fear, like I hate other people knowing
- 25:31Speaker 2: things about me that I don't know. And that's like
- 25:34Speaker 2: the worst part.
- 25:34Speaker 1: You don't want to feel. You don'tant to feel like again,
- 25:36Speaker 1: like yeah, not, I hear you.
- 25:37Speaker 2: I don't want to look like an idiot, you know,
- 25:39Speaker 2: like I don't want other people knowing shit before me.
- 25:41Speaker 2: That was like the most that was the worst part
- 25:44Speaker 2: about being cheated on. The one time I was cheated on,
- 25:46Speaker 2: I was like, the most fucked up part was that
- 25:48Speaker 2: everyone knew except sent you.
- 25:50Speaker 1: So it was like they were like the friends knew
- 25:53Speaker 1: because it's I feel like it's like it probably a
- 25:55Speaker 1: different situation if like your man is on vacation in
- 25:58Speaker 1: Miami and he hooks of the stranger he's never gonna
- 26:01Speaker 1: see again. Sure you should hate that and you should
- 26:03Speaker 1: leave him for that, but it's not like if like this,
- 26:07Speaker 1: it's like a thing, a known thing, and everyone's lying
- 26:09Speaker 1: to your face and like you're like, what the fuck,
- 26:11Speaker 1: Like I'm just booboo the full at this point.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah. No, it was like it was so bad, like
- 26:16Speaker 2: like this guy and his best friend had a threesome
- 26:22Speaker 2: basically with this girl. That's that's how I got cheated on.
- 26:25Speaker 2: And then his friend that he did it with asked
- 26:28Speaker 2: me to pick him up from the airport before I know. Hmm, yeah, yeah,
- 26:35Speaker 2: I don't know, man, Yeah, Trash.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I don't know if I, you know, could participate in
- 26:42Speaker 1: such activities.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Would you If I'm not sure I can cheated on you,
- 26:47Speaker 2: would it hurt you more if they did it because
- 26:52Speaker 2: they loved the person, or if they did it because
- 26:54Speaker 2: it was just like a one night thing because they
- 26:56Speaker 2: loved the person, that would hurt more.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I think, So, huh what about you?
- 27:03Speaker 2: No, that wouldn't hurt more because you
