- 0:1511th. The World of Outlaw Wings Sprint
- 0:18Cars will be coming April 10th and 11th.
- 0:22Check them out. Get your tickets at
- 0:24worldofoutlaws.com. All right, everybody, I've been
- 0:34seeing something out there that I need to respond about.
- 0:39I see there are people out there.
- 0:42There are reporters. I think Jordan Bianchi wrote a
- 0:46article today on this Wednesday that Steve Phelps, even though
- 0:53he's gone, that he's the scapegoat, that there's more
- 0:59problems with NASCAR than Steve Phelps.
- 1:04So in other words, Steve Phelps was the scapegoat.
- 1:08He should have not been let go. Fair.
- 1:12That's fair. So let's talk about it.
- 1:14Why is Steve Phelps, why is he gone from NASCAR?
- 1:22OK, now my response. OK, my response is this, NASCAR
- 1:29has a huge image issue right now.
- 1:34NASCAR is in the repair the damage process.
- 1:42Right now NASCAR does not look good, so they have to repair
- 1:46their image. OK, so right now what's on
- 1:52everybody's mind that is part of NASCAR?
- 1:57Well, the president, the man that owns Bass Pro Shops, Johnny
- 2:02Morse or Johnny Morse, he wrote basically a two page letter
- 2:10condemning Steve Phelps, the commissioner.
- 2:16Once again, I don't know what the hell this commissioner
- 2:19verbiage is that. Start up somewhere.
- 2:22Respond right here if you know about this verbiage,
- 2:24Commissioner. I thought that was only a
- 2:26baseball thing. I was told I was read about
- 2:32Steve Phelps, that Steve Phelps, when he was replaced by Steve
- 2:39O'Donnell as the president. So Steve Phelps was the
- 2:43president like for 20 years. And then last year they moved
- 2:48Steve Phelps into a position that they made-up for
- 2:53international affairs. It it's like, hey, Steve Phelps,
- 2:56go over here and and start working on NASCAR going
- 3:00international. The articles that I read are
- 3:04just everyday articles by everybody.
- 3:07That's my source, articles by everybody that they created a
- 3:11job for Steve Phelps to, you know, work on international
- 3:15affairs. So they created a job and I
- 3:17guess they created this new name called Commissioner.
- 3:21That's the best I can come up with as of yesterday.
- 3:26And they put in Steve O'Donnell as the new president.
- 3:31OK, Now we are still addressing was Steve Phelps, was he a
- 3:38scapegoat? In other words, is, is there
- 3:40other issues? But hey, we're going to let
- 3:43Steve Phelps go because we got an image issue.
- 3:47All right, now that we've talked about what Steve Phelps is up to
- 3:50and where this name commissioner come from, seems to be a lot of
- 3:55hearsay out there. That's an old term that this is
- 3:59true. That's not true, that's hearsay.
- 4:02You say that, but that ain't right.
- 4:05Well, so I just said, you know, I'd be bullshitted it the best I
- 4:09could. So they created a position for
- 4:13him. You know, like I said, dot it
- 4:15up. All right, today, why is Steve
- 4:20Phelps gone? Because the president, the man
- 4:23that created Bass Pro Shops, the company, the company guy's worth
- 4:28a lot of money. A lot of money.
- 4:31Maybe billions. Hell, I don't know.
- 4:33Google it. How much is Johnny Morse worth?
- 4:37The owner of Bass Pro Shops? Respond right here.
- 4:40So Johnny writes this long letter.
- 4:43Now, Johnny's 3 1/2 hours up the road up here in Springfield, MO
- 4:48Bass pros all over America. There's Bass pros everywhere.
- 4:52They're huge and they spend a lot of money in NASCAR.
- 4:58Johnny is good friends with Richard Childress.
- 5:02OK, you start putting the dots together.
- 5:05I'm explaining to you why Steve Phelps is gone.
- 5:11And there are some people today saying that Steve Phelps should
- 5:15have not been let go. There's more problems.
- 5:17And Steve Phelps was a scapegoat.
- 5:21So Johnny Morse writes this letter, and we've all read it.
- 5:26And basically it reads that Richard Shielders is a legend.
- 5:31He's done more for this sport than anybody ever will.
- 5:34And, you know, Richard's 70 plus years old.
- 5:39Steve Phelps is a young man. How dare Steve Phelps come in
- 5:42here and talk so badly about Richard Childress.
- 5:48Now you say to yourself, well, that was just, you know, an
- 5:53e-mail, a text. Well, let's go back to hearsay.
- 5:57Perry Mason. Perry Mason, that was a, that
- 6:01was an old, you know, 30 minute, one hour weekly TV show.
- 6:07Perry Mason. He was the prosecutor and back
- 6:10in the day they'd yell out he that's hearsay.
- 6:14Hearsay means that's not true. We don't know that's hearsay.
- 6:19Well, nowadays we got, here's what, here's what we got
- 6:24nowadays here. Here it is.
- 6:27You said it. So you see what I'm saying?
- 6:31Nowadays it's like here it is, you said it.
- 6:33It's not hearsay. So I understand what the word
- 6:42scapegoat means. It means everybody talks like
- 6:45that. He, he just got caught, right,
- 6:50Right. Going back to NASCAR's image
- 6:54issue. So Steve Phelps said it and, and
- 7:00and it's it's kind of like monopoly.
- 7:01We all start with a lot of money and it's up to you to you know,
- 7:06everybody gets the same amount of money, Monopoly and it and if
- 7:09you make the wrong business decisions, you lose at the game
- 7:12of Monopoly. So I've had no issues with Steve
- 7:17Phelps. And if you notice, I don't
- 7:19condemn Steve Phelps. I don't talk bad about him.
- 7:22I'm giving you I'm giving you my opinion.
- 7:24Steve Phelps is gone because people in the in the in the
- 7:29industry, powerful people forget about you, forget about you.
- 7:33Although all the fans wanted Steve Phelps gone, when you get
- 7:41when you get letters from the sponsors of NASCAR that
- 7:47basically are the billionaires. Think about Johnny Morse in that
- 7:52letter he wrote from bass pro So NASCAR has an image issue.
- 8:05I don't think Steve Phelps could have walked around the pit area.
- 8:08And everybody, could you imagine Steve Phelps just the first week
- 8:13at Daytona? How could he have walked around
- 8:15the garage area? Now, once again, Steve Phelps
- 8:18has always been good to me. But we have an image issue here
- 8:24at NASCAR and it's got to be corrected.
- 8:26So whether Steve Phelps was a scapegoat or not, hey, there's
- 8:32an old joke out there that I'd love to tell and I'll say it,
- 8:36but I'll clean it up big time. A man builds 10 bridges.
- 8:44You know where I'm going with this?
- 8:46And he does one bad thing. All of a sudden those ten
- 8:52bridges he built, it don't mean nothing because he did one bad
- 8:56thing. You know the joke, you can fill
- 8:59it in. So let's just say let let's give
- 9:01Steve helps, let's give him credit.
- 9:05Steve Phelps did 20 years at NASCAR of all good.
- 9:10He done 1 bad thing and all of a sudden that bad thing is who he
- 9:14is. Now listen, we're all big boys.
- 9:18Hell, I you know, we're, we're all big boys.
- 9:23He will recover. Steve Phelps will recover.
- 9:26He'll move on. But the bottom line is, for the
- 9:314th time, NASCAR has an image issue, and this is where it
- 9:35starts. All right, everybody have a
- 9:39great Wednesday.
