- 0:00Speaker 1: The Eagles getting ready for the Raiders.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Today's football for Adam Kaplan's in the house. What are
- 0:06Speaker 2: the keys to an Eagles victory? We got people texting in.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I asked a simple question, are you concerned that the
- 0:11Speaker 2: Eagles get actually lose to the Raiders? And the text
- 0:15Speaker 2: messages are very interesting right now, Adam Kaplan, the people
- 0:19Speaker 2: are not confident with the football team in Philadelphia. They're
- 0:23Speaker 2: playing a bad Raiders team. Let's take a look at
- 0:25Speaker 2: some of the keys to an Eagle win.
- 0:27Speaker 1: They need it.
- 0:28Speaker 2: They got to get it back, no matter how they
- 0:29Speaker 2: get it. They got to find a way. Adam, what's
- 0:30Speaker 2: going on?
- 0:33Speaker 3: But look, let's get started. Offenses always so get let's
- 0:37Speaker 3: get the running game off to a good start. They actually, Mike,
- 0:41Speaker 3: what an interesting thing is? You know when they could
- 0:43Speaker 3: not run inside earlier in the season, they still can't
- 0:46Speaker 3: by the way they're they're they're just ironic. The Raiders
- 0:49Speaker 3: and the Eagles are graded as the two worst inside
- 0:51Speaker 3: running teams in National footbally. But when they got off
- 0:54Speaker 3: to a bad start running it inside, we're like, why
- 0:56Speaker 3: don't you run it outside? Remember they wouldn't run it outside.
- 0:59Speaker 3: We came on football and four kept telling you, we
- 1:01Speaker 3: don't we don't know why. Well, they ran it very
- 1:04Speaker 3: well in the first half outside after a slow start
- 1:07Speaker 3: off tackle. Now here's the problem, Fred Johnson. He was
- 1:10Speaker 3: added to the injury report after Thursday's practice. Let me
- 1:13Speaker 3: explain it. What that means is when you when a
- 1:19Speaker 3: player is added either he didn't feel right prior to practice,
- 1:24Speaker 3: we got hurt in practice, Fred Johnson. Mike, there is
- 1:29Speaker 3: their backup swing tackle. Now he could play right or
- 1:31Speaker 3: left tackle. Obviously he's filling in for Lane Johnson for
- 1:35Speaker 3: three games here. So we got to see what happens today.
- 1:38Speaker 3: We'll get the introvert probably within minutes. We'll see if
- 1:40Speaker 3: we get it. Typically, Mike, you and I we usually
- 1:41Speaker 3: get it during the segment. But if not, it would
- 1:44Speaker 3: be Matt pryor that they're running out of chances. Cameron Williams,
- 1:46Speaker 3: by the way, the rookie offensive tackle, I'd be stunned
- 1:49Speaker 3: if he plays this season. They start, They just they
- 1:52Speaker 3: designating for a return. They just want to see him
- 1:54Speaker 3: practice for the end of the season. It would have
- 1:57Speaker 3: to take something extraordinary for him to be activated within
- 2:00Speaker 3: the twenty one days. He's he's a raw, talented but
- 2:03Speaker 3: needs a full off season of work to the running
- 2:06Speaker 3: out of lineman here, Mike Brett Toath could always play
- 2:09Speaker 3: right tackle Landon Dickerson. Landon Dickerson was trending better. I
- 2:13Speaker 3: know he didn't practice y history, but that was on purposes,
- 2:15Speaker 3: I'm told because of the short week. But if he's not,
- 2:18Speaker 3: if he's not practicing today, that would that that would
- 2:20Speaker 3: be a different story, that would be a problem again
- 2:23Speaker 3: that they just they Mike. What they have not done
- 2:25Speaker 3: yet in the last couple of years has developed these
- 2:28Speaker 3: young alignemen. Kendall's nutt has not been ready yet. I mean,
- 2:32Speaker 3: you never know. They're running out of linean so he
- 2:34Speaker 3: may have to be forced in action. But uh, the
- 2:36Speaker 3: the mission, Trevor Keegan Mike had hurt this football team.
- 2:39Speaker 3: They thought he would be that developmental guard, that he
- 2:41Speaker 3: could be here for three or four years, but they
- 2:44Speaker 3: cut him. He's elsewhere now.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and we did uh check in on practice. La
- 2:49Speaker 2: Dickerson was out there, so it looks like he will play.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Lane Johnson and not going to play. Fred Johnson did
- 2:54Speaker 2: say at his locker that he will play, So it
- 2:56Speaker 2: looks like that is good stuff there. They got to
- 2:59Speaker 2: get this running game going. You said there's some signs
- 3:02Speaker 2: last week. It was really just you know, they had
- 3:03Speaker 2: that fifty two yard run, a couple of other good ones,
- 3:05Speaker 2: but you know, is there a way that they can
- 3:08Speaker 2: really build off of what we saw on what was
- 3:12Speaker 2: that Monday night?
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah. So, in additionally what I said a couple of
- 3:17Speaker 3: minutes ago about getting off the running game to a
- 3:19Speaker 3: good start, as I told you, I'd like to see
- 3:21Speaker 3: Tank Bixby. We say this every week. You get to
- 3:23Speaker 3: one or two touches and that's it. A change up
- 3:26Speaker 3: means you're a change up is someone who's a running
- 3:29Speaker 3: back in this case, who's different than the starter. Stylistically,
- 3:32Speaker 3: Bakesby tries to break everything outside. Mike, he not an
- 3:35Speaker 3: inside runners. He sees it outside and he breaks it.
- 3:38Speaker 3: He usually is right about breaking outside. They need to
- 3:41Speaker 3: do that other things before we moved on to defense.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Be smart about the passing game. I'm not worried about
- 3:48Speaker 3: the conditions in terms of snow or rain, whatever it's
- 3:51Speaker 3: going to happen before the game. It's never about what
- 3:53Speaker 3: happens before the game with rain or snow. It's what
- 3:57Speaker 3: happens in the game. Teams I've talked to you forever.
- 4:00Speaker 3: They don't care about what happens before the game, what
- 4:02Speaker 3: happens during the game, though Mike is a condition is concerning.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Here we go again. Wins. The gouts are twenty to
- 4:10Speaker 3: thirty miles an hour. You've seen against the Bears. Against
- 4:13Speaker 3: the Lions, it was really difficult to throw the football.
- 4:16Speaker 3: You might try to work the screen game. We've talked
- 4:18Speaker 3: about that also before. This is the last point here
- 4:20Speaker 3: on offense. Execute the plan against Max Crosby. If they
- 4:23Speaker 3: have to go with more twelve personnel, chip him, Siriani
- 4:27Speaker 3: talked about today, like you have to you have an
- 4:29Speaker 3: awareness of them, and you've got to make him be irrelevant.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I know it's gonna be hard. Crosby super explosive. They'll
- 4:35Speaker 3: move him around a little bit. And look if Fred
- 4:38Speaker 3: Johnson's ready to go here and he's gimpy a little bit.
- 4:42Speaker 3: You're going to know about that pretty early in the games.
- 4:43Speaker 3: That's something to watch in this game, all right.
- 4:45Speaker 2: The Eagle defense this week, you know they played very
- 4:48Speaker 2: well last week.
- 4:49Speaker 1: They had two straight weeks.
- 4:50Speaker 2: We did get confirmation Ke Myers from Vegas was on
- 4:55Speaker 2: in the last segment. He did say and they did
- 4:56Speaker 2: announce it that Kenny Pickett will start the game and
- 4:59Speaker 2: that the Raider fans have been clamoring for this.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They have seen enough of Geno Smith out there.
- 5:04Speaker 2: But you know, we know, but Kenny Pigott, he's a
- 5:06Speaker 2: guy who can do some things with his legs here.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He's a timing passer. He will run, but he is
- 5:12Speaker 3: a below average arm and this is not good. Now
- 5:14Speaker 3: we know he knows the link because he's played there,
- 5:18Speaker 3: so it's not good for him these conditions. And here's
- 5:21Speaker 3: the thing is is that Genty is a very odd
- 5:26Speaker 3: running back their first run pick. And now our friend
- 5:29Speaker 3: Greg os Sell like Hampton way better than Genty. Greg
- 5:32Speaker 3: took a lot of heat Ford on social media. He
- 5:33Speaker 3: was right so far. Hampton's way more explosive. Genty is
- 5:37Speaker 3: one of the only runners I've ever seen that runs
- 5:40Speaker 3: toward contact, not after contact. He tries to execute after
- 5:46Speaker 3: getting running into the defender. It's a very odd deal
- 5:50Speaker 3: that he had at Boise State. It's not working out
- 5:52Speaker 3: for him. He's been awful so far. I'm not worried
- 5:55Speaker 3: about him. He shouldn't be even without Jalen Carter. It's
- 5:58Speaker 3: you want to make Kenny Picket a pack. If you
- 6:00Speaker 3: could do that, you're probably gonna win the game. And
- 6:02Speaker 3: then one more note before we get out of here,
- 6:03Speaker 3: Mike on actually two defensively play where man covers is usual.
- 6:07Speaker 3: You don't have to blitz now. Calt Miller, the left tackle,
- 6:09Speaker 3: has been out since Week five where a severe high
- 6:11Speaker 3: ankle sprain. He may play in this game. He started working,
- 6:14Speaker 3: though he's not taking all the ones as I understand it.
- 6:16Speaker 3: But they've got an advantage here with their defensive front,
- 6:19Speaker 3: and they they brought the one of them the when
- 6:23Speaker 3: you look at next Gen stats pressure rate one of
- 6:25Speaker 3: the highest pressure rates of this season for getting after
- 6:29Speaker 3: justin Herbert last week. So they don't have to blitz.
- 6:31Speaker 3: They shouldn't really much. I'd be surprised if they did,
- 6:34Speaker 3: because I only because I think they could win a front. Now,
- 6:36Speaker 3: if they can't win a front, you got to bring
- 6:38Speaker 3: more heat. That's it, Mike. It's it's not hard. Watch
- 6:41Speaker 3: the conditions. If you're going to the link on one o'clock, yes,
- 6:44Speaker 3: the one o'clock, and the Raiders have to travel three
- 6:47Speaker 3: time zones. It will not be easy for them.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yet supposed to snow possibly earlier in the day.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Way earlier. Yeah, want to be close to the game
- 6:54Speaker 3: based on what to live.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean that means it's gonna be pretty
- 6:56Speaker 2: cold as.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be low thirties side twenties again unless it changes.
- 7:05Speaker 3: But it's the gusts man, gusts matter. Man, bring your
- 7:09Speaker 3: gloves be warm. I've been plenty of link games what
- 7:12Speaker 3: has been called and windy man, it's awful in December,
- 7:14Speaker 3: and this is one of those games. Man. And know
- 7:16Speaker 3: it's funny because the Raiders in the summer do not
- 7:19Speaker 3: practice outdoors in Henderson, Nevada, because it's a one hundred
- 7:22Speaker 3: degrees They practice inside. Look, I've been wrong before though.
- 7:26Speaker 3: The last two weeks I picked the You know I've
- 7:29Speaker 3: been I picked against the Eagles the last two weeks
- 7:32Speaker 3: that I've been right. I got kind of lucky in
- 7:33Speaker 3: the Charger game. But if this game is tight, and
- 7:36Speaker 3: I know they're the Raiders as bad as they are,
- 7:37Speaker 3: they've played some tight games, I just can't see it, Mike.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I feel the Eagles bounce back. Now, this game is
- 7:44Speaker 3: two years ago. People bring up the Cardinal game. Carlo
- 7:46Speaker 3: has had way more talent than the Eagles. Do this
- 7:48Speaker 3: that mean, excuse me? The Raiders do this year. The
- 7:50Speaker 3: Raiders one of the least talent teams in the National
- 7:52Speaker 3: Football again again with Kenny Pickett small hands by the way,
- 7:56Speaker 3: he'll be wearing those gloves.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And the one thing is you know you mentioned and
- 8:00Speaker 2: you know, bring the heat if you have to. They
- 8:02Speaker 2: should be able to get pressure. This is one of
- 8:04Speaker 2: the worst offensive lines in football too, so they should
- 8:06Speaker 2: be able to get the foreman pressure.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I just don't see why they would blitz. But look,
- 8:11Speaker 3: Vic knows more than hun is more than we do.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I think you played now if Carlton Meyler plays or
- 8:16Speaker 3: left tackle, who's he's a big dude six seven to
- 8:19Speaker 3: sixty eight. I mean, you got he's a good player.
- 8:22Speaker 3: He's a good player. But Stone fourth site that has
- 8:25Speaker 3: been filling in for him as a young backup who's
- 8:28Speaker 3: been pressed in the service. So Thegles have a lot
- 8:29Speaker 3: of advantages here. Well I would just watch for Fred
- 8:34Speaker 3: Johnson early in the game and see how well he
- 8:36Speaker 3: was an ankle Landon Dickerson with a calf once again
- 8:38Speaker 3: he couldn't finish a game. Well, well, I'm sorry he
- 8:41Speaker 3: came out and did finish, but he did leave the
- 8:43Speaker 3: game to come back wash Yeah, with the calf injury.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 2: And you know, we talked about the offensive line at
- 8:48Speaker 2: him and the one thing that the Raiders have Max crossby,
- 8:52Speaker 2: and that could be an area where he wrecks the
- 8:55Speaker 2: game all by himself.
- 8:56Speaker 3: He does, you have to watch out for it. By
- 8:57Speaker 3: the way, Charlie Hewlett was activated earlier today their long snapper,
- 9:02Speaker 3: and that's why cal Adam Midas was cut. So we'll
- 9:05Speaker 3: see what happens Mike. And Jake Elliott is a good kicker, Mike,
- 9:10Speaker 3: but last three games it's been a little bit off,
- 9:14Speaker 3: so that's another thing he's got to do. We don't
- 9:15Speaker 3: really talk much about it because bradon Man has been
- 9:17Speaker 3: unbelievable as their punter, who should be a Pro bowler
- 9:20Speaker 3: this season. But Jake Kelli, it's got to get himself
- 9:22Speaker 3: together here as their kicker.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And he did say he had nothing to do
- 9:25Speaker 2: with the snapper, although the stats suggest that the numbers
- 9:28Speaker 2: were significantly different, you know, with the two different snappers,
- 9:32Speaker 2: So we'll.
- 9:33Speaker 1: See if that comes into play here.
- 9:34Speaker 2: One thing before you get out of here too is
- 9:37Speaker 2: obviously we had Q Myers on earlier. He talked about
- 9:40Speaker 2: their secondary being a problem for them. This isn't a
- 9:44Speaker 2: game though, where you want to throw them as you
- 9:46Speaker 2: talk about the win gus here, but this is the
- 9:48Speaker 2: kind of week where they should be able to have
- 9:51Speaker 2: success in the past game, but the weather doesn't really
- 9:53Speaker 2: set up for it.
- 9:54Speaker 1: So they're going to have to try to run the ball.
- 9:56Speaker 3: It sounds like they have to absolutely have to. But
- 9:59Speaker 3: now what the coaches have told me over the year,
- 10:01Speaker 3: it's just kind of funny. So what they do is
- 10:03Speaker 3: they already know what the wind's going to be, but
- 10:05Speaker 3: the guts are impossible to predict. You don't know when
- 10:07Speaker 3: they're going to come. So sometimes when it's a little
- 10:09Speaker 3: bit calmer, you may be throwing the football. Now when
- 10:12Speaker 3: you talk about the corners. Darian Porter's a rookie talk
- 10:17Speaker 3: corner of Iowa State. Eric Stokes was a disappointment and
- 10:19Speaker 3: a former first round pick for the Packers that just
- 10:23Speaker 3: never worked out. He had an ac injury early in
- 10:25Speaker 3: his career. And by the way, just so folks know,
- 10:27Speaker 3: tackles are a terrible way to evaluate a linebacker. Devin
- 10:31Speaker 3: White is top three in solo tackles in the National
- 10:34Speaker 3: Football He's not a very good football player. It's just
- 10:38Speaker 3: official stat that I ignore tackles. It's just mean nothing
- 10:41Speaker 3: to me because you have to know about how the
- 10:42Speaker 3: defense is funneled and how the guy was tackling. I
- 10:46Speaker 3: just don't buy into tackles because people are going out
- 10:48Speaker 3: of their minds. But stude Eagle's made a mistake, No,
- 10:50Speaker 3: they did. He was awful here, so one doesn't have
- 10:52Speaker 3: to do with the other. People love to conflate stuff
- 10:54Speaker 3: with Devin White, who was just he was a very
- 10:57Speaker 3: undisciplined player here. That's why the Bucks wanted to get
- 10:59Speaker 3: rid of them. The Eagles couldn't looky. They benched them,
- 11:01Speaker 3: paying them a lot of money. Good for him that
- 11:03Speaker 3: he's a reviving his career, but they're an awful football team.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And well though here on Sunday and the Eagles need
- 11:07Speaker 2: to get back on track. The Raiders are they just
- 11:08Speaker 2: what the doctor ordered? Find out it's an old school
- 11:12Speaker 2: Sunday one o'clock game, Adam Kaplan, it's nice to have
- 11:15Speaker 2: one of those back here in our lives. And you
- 11:16Speaker 2: can check out more on this game on the Inside
- 11:18Speaker 2: of the Birds podcasts Inside the Birds dot Com, which
- 11:21Speaker 2: you can get on all podcasting platforms.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Adam, thanks Man, thank you,
