- 0:27Hey, everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So let's talk about patience today, something that I
- 0:34typically don't have a lot of. This has been one of the lessons
- 0:38that I've had to learn in my life.
- 0:40And I will tell you I am not good with patience.
- 0:44Not good with patience. And it's something that I
- 0:47consistently have to work on. And that's why I think I'm so
- 0:50drawn to doing gardening and things that require me to have
- 0:54more patience because they force me to work with something that
- 0:57I'm typically just not so good at.
- 1:00And I recognize it in myself, and I recognize that I have to
- 1:04do a consistent job with pulling myself together with it because
- 1:09it is not fun to deal with the lack of patience.
- 1:13And these chickens are something that really does.
- 1:16Teach me patience. The garden teaches me patience
- 1:19because I can't plant the seed and run out there and then dig
- 1:23it up to find out what's going on.
- 1:25I have to wait for things like this year I've planted peanuts
- 1:28and Oh my gosh, peanuts, right? You can't see them.
- 1:31They're under the ground. So I I still don't know what's
- 1:34happening until I decide to dig up the peanuts and see.
- 1:38And believe me, there's part of me that just is like, OK, let me
- 1:40dig it up and see what's happening.
- 1:41But that's not resourceful, because you don't want to dig up
- 1:45your plants before they're ready.
- 1:47I just even like at night when I go to put the chickens away,
- 1:51there's inevitably someone who's not moving into the coop.
- 1:54There's inevitably someone who's just being a complete, like,
- 1:58pokey teenager outside. It's always the teenagers.
- 2:02The girls always go in very early, but the teenagers take
- 2:04forever. It drives me crazy, but guess
- 2:07what? It's something that I have to
- 2:09learn patience with. And I.
- 2:11I tend to surround myself by with things that seem to be
- 2:15constantly teaching me patience because I'm just not good at it.
- 2:19So I keep getting these little things that show up to say, hey,
- 2:23you might want to look at this, hey, you might want to look at
- 2:26this, you might want to look at this.
- 2:29And I've learned over the years that the more I take the time to
- 2:32pause and say I'm going to work on this, the more I get out of
- 2:38the benefit of saying I'm going to be patient with this.
- 2:40So I'll give you a great example.
- 2:42I initially thought, OK, I want to attract all kinds of birds to
- 2:46this farm. So I put up these little.
- 2:50Bluebird houses and I expected them to move in right away, like
- 2:54that was my thing. Okay.
- 2:55Why aren't they moving in? And I'd walk outside and I'd be
- 2:57like why aren't they moving in? Do I need to paint them?
- 3:00Do I need to do something with them and.
- 3:03It is required that I waited. I just had to be patient and I
- 3:08couldn't do it. I kept thinking, OK, I should do
- 3:10this. Or maybe I should leave out
- 3:11material that they can use when they want to move in.
- 3:14Or maybe I should move them. Maybe they're not in the right
- 3:16place. I was driving myself crazy just
- 3:19trying to figure out why they weren't moving in to these
- 3:23houses, and I recognize that this is a pattern.
- 3:28That I have my lack of patience, my lack of thing, of of being
- 3:33able to say I can wait for something to work through it or
- 3:38get to a point. Years ago, I wanted to try
- 3:41brewing my own beer. OK, great.
- 3:43I tried it. It was wonderful.
- 3:44I have no patience to wait for it and try it.
- 3:46I had. I would.
- 3:47I'm going to try things again now that I've cultivated this.
- 3:51But this is a process, my friends.
- 3:53This is something that takes time.
- 3:55It's something of really being patient with yourself.
- 3:58And it doesn't matter what you're working on, it always
- 4:01shows up the chicken coop. I put window boxes on the
- 4:04chicken coop and when I planted them, I wanted them to look
- 4:08amazing instantly. And they looked cute, but they
- 4:11didn't look like they do now, where it's 2-3 months later and
- 4:15now they look so full, so robust, so unbelievably like
- 4:20thriving. But guess what?
- 4:22I had to be patient and I don't do that well.
- 4:26So what it This is a constant and never ending reminder that
- 4:30there is a deep, deep process to learning it now.
- 4:36I will tell you one of the easiest ways to do that is
- 4:39actually telling yourself, I'm going to do this and I'm going
- 4:42to be patient. And here are the roadblocks.
- 4:44And here's where I think I'm going to get stuck and here's
- 4:46where I think I can get around it.
- 4:48And this is my strategy of getting around it.
- 4:50So I actually have to tell myself before I go to do
- 4:53something, OK, this is probably going to go this way.
- 4:56And I'm going to have to give myself grace and give myself a
- 4:59break and I'm going to have to be patient.
- 5:03And I tell myself that very thing, I.
- 5:06Ask myself, am I being patient? And I'll just actually ask
- 5:10myself, is there a better way to handle this?
- 5:12And then the impatience at which you're showing up with Yes,
- 5:16always. So when you set yourself up and
- 5:19you ask the right questions and you do it, you can be patient
- 5:22but know yourself going in. I have no problem admitting I
- 5:26don't have a lot of patience. I didn't get in that line
- 5:28multiple times. I I I didn't even get in it
- 5:31once. I don't think so.
- 5:32That's been my thing to learn. And the universe and God just
- 5:37keep giving me examples of where I need to be patient so that I
- 5:40am forced to learn it so. And I wouldn't be happy to say I
- 5:44do have lots of Bluebirds in all the houses now, but I had to be
- 5:47patient and I had to wait. So I hope you guys have a very
- 5:51blessed day. I hope you find your patience
- 5:53today and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:55Bye.
