- Daniel: Welcome back to Talking Dogs. so Clint: Yep. Daniel: happy to have you here. thanks so much for being here. He's Clint. I'm Daniel. super grateful that you are here. Today we're talking about our dream scenarios for the 2026 Georgia football season. Like literally, you could you you could wish for one thing, you have a wish Clint: Okay. Daniel: granted. What is it gonna be? What is the thing that's gonna put that Georgia football team over the top, get us back to where we want to be. Get us back to where Georgia deserves to be. Listen, it's gonna be a great season, 2026. Clint and I excited to have you here. Clint: Yeah. Yeah. Daniel: If you're here and you're not already subscribed to the newsletter, that's where Clint and I put all of our stuff. It's between the banner.beehive.com. There's a link Clint: Yes. Daniel: in the show notes or in the description, and you can find that there. Would love to have you over there at the newsletter. If not. a lot of you know us from locked on, but Clint: You do? Daniel: make sure you're subscribed to this channel. Tell a friend. Clint: Get hit the subscribe. Daniel: Tell an enemy. Tell someone that you don't even care for. It doesn't matter to us. Clint: Tell a Florida fan and o Ole Miss fan, they are the best. Daniel: Tell an old Miss Fan they will definitely subscribe because they are obsessed with us at this Clint: They are. Daniel: point. Clint: Daniel, I'm gonna paint you a picture. Daniel: Huh. Clint: You happen to be walking out in nature. Something Daniel: Mm. Clint: strikes your eye over to the side. It's glimmering. You Daniel: I don't hate it. Clint: meander on over. The kids and the family are saying, What dad, what are you doing? You ignore them. You stumble across this Daniel: That's that's my move. Clint: shimmering object and you pick it up, and it happens to be a magic lamp. Daniel: Okay. Clint: And like lore tells you to, you go ahead and dutifully rub said lamp. Out comes the football genie. It is Nick Saban's carcass resurrected from the dead off of the ESPN studio lot, put into the genie lamp. And he says, Daniel, you have three wishes. They they Daniel: Whew. Wowzers. That's this has gotten graphic all of a sudden. Clint: they only pertain to Georgia football. You can have no other wishes except for Georgia football. You have three of them. Daniel: Can I stop you right there? Why would I ask for something that's not related to Georgia Football Club? Clint: Maybe you were gonna waste one on the Georgia basketball team. Daniel: I would have. You're right. You're right. You're right. Nope. You're right. Clint: I know. I know. So three wishes that Nick Saban says you must give to Georgia football to have the season we anticipate. What's your first wish that you are asking? Daniel: I'm a simple man, Clint. I don't need much. Okay. I could ask Clint: Yeah. No, we don't we don't. We truly don't. Daniel: I could wish that Georgia scored a hundred points per game. I could wish that I could just go ahead and wish Clint: Nope. Stop. Daniel: that Georgia won the national championship. But where would be the fun in that? Clint: But we can't it's not fun, guys. It's not fun. Daniel: Let me tell you what I'm gonna wish for. I'm going to wish specifically Clint: Mm-hmm. Daniel: That Georgia finishes top ten nationally in sacks this Clint: There it is. Daniel: year. Clint: The that okay. Daniel, why is this such an important wish to have? Daniel: We say a lot of positive things about Kirby Smart. Clint: We do. Daniel: But Clint and I bec that's because Kirby Smart is the greatest college football coach that exists. Period. Full stop. But Clinton and I are we are going to we are going to say it like it is. We're not we're not in the neighborhood Clint: We're homers, but Daniel: of sugarcoating things, we're not in the neighborhood of just blowing smoke. Clint: No. No. Daniel: Okay. Kirby Smart has fooled the world, or at least Georgia fans, Clint: Yep. Daniel: into believing that because Georgia sucks at rushing the passer. Clint: Uh-huh. Daniel: That rushing the passer matters less in college football now than it did previously. Georgia Smart Kirby Smart came out with this narrative last year, like, well, the game has changed and quarterbacks are getting it out of their hands sooner, and quarterbacks are doing this and quarterbacks are doing that, and you can't just rush the passer like you used to, and you can't sax is a w a lazy statistic that you can look at and it doesn't really mean anything, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Let me hear I'm here to tell you. Do you know who the two best pass rushing teams in terms of number of sacks were last season, Clint? Clint: Very important. Daniel: They were Indiana and Miami. Do you know what those two teams had in common? Well, they ha if they played for the national championship, is what they had in common, Clint. Clint: That's the one. Daniel: They were better than all the other teams. Was it because they had the best quarterbacks? Now Ferman Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy, but I would argue not the most talented quarterback in college football. Clint: He was not. Daniel: Carson Beck, do I need to say more than just that? Clint: You don't. Daniel: No. Clint: End of sentence. Daniel: Miami and Indiana were elite because they got after the passer at an elite level. Being able to beat your guy one on one in a pass rush situation is still Clint: Mm-hmm. Daniel: one of, if not the most important attribute that a college football defense can possess. I want to see Isaiah Gibson, Darren Akenigbone, a Quintavius Johnson, Gabe Harris, Elijah Griffin. I wanna see guys win one on one matchups at the line of scrimmage. I wanna see quarterbacks running for their lives. Clint: Mm-hmm. Daniel: That's where the Georgia defense struggled last year. That's why in the in the last couple of years where I feel like Glenn Schumann has fallen off. That's why this offseason, Georgia went out of their way to bring in a guy like Larry Knight, who just got offered a job at Virginia Tech, and Kirby Smart said, Clint: Mm-hmm. Daniel: actually, I want you. And he went out Clint: Mm-hmm. Daniel: and got him specifically for this reason. Georgia's gotta be able to rush the passer, Clint. To me, it is the most important thing that could happen to this Georgia football team. Clint: you're not wrong, Daniel. It needs to be that way. Has to be that way. Genie is is still there. You've wished for the pass rush to be statistically where we think they need to be in order to get the national championship. We still have two more to go. He says, All right, guys, you got two more. What's your second wish? Here's and I I I get to step to the plate. I get to say, here's my second wish. My second wish is that the tight end room? lives up to the ceiling and potential they have. Because friends, if they I might even say 80%. If they live up to 80% of their potential, I'd be happy. If they go out and do and perform and and commit, produce what we think they can, what they have the talent to do, what we've heard out of camp, what they're Then this tight end room is going to be the best tight end room that has ever been assembled collectively on a college football stage, full stop. There won't be another one that even comes close. It can't, it won't. there was that one year that Mizzou had two tight ends that were like, you know, twin towers, and they were just like these two huge rooks on a chessboard, and they were incredible. No. This will be five guys deep. Who are absolutely crushing it in every capacity. And I want them to live up to it because I think our offense in that case, again, we've we've talked many times before how kind of silly it is, that we believe that we wouldn't need wide receivers at that point. And and and Daniel: Mm-hmm. Clint: again it's not it's not even a joke at that point. Prothrow and and Rydell could g split out wide. Elias Williams could as well. We have guys everywhere. Lost and luck can be more in line again, those five guys. I would want the tight end room to be the most athletic room on the entire team. And if that's the case, my gosh. Guys, I th there won't be a defense that will be up to the task of doing what i is n necessary to stop that to stop us. Couldn't couldn't happen. Daniel: One thousand four hundred and seventy four yards. That's how many yards the Georgia tight ends in twenty twenty two accumulated. And that was with a guy named Brock Bowers and a guy named Darnell Washington on the roster. Clint: Mm-hmm. Yep. Daniel: The last year that the two of them played together. I'm not sure if you remember Georgia won the national championship that year. Pretty good. Fifteen Clint: Pretty good. Daniel: and Clint: Nominally good. Daniel: Fourteen hundred and seventy four yards, Clint is nothing compared Clint: Nothing. Daniel: to what this tight end room is capable of. I'm talking about legitimately this tight end room could have twenty five hundred yards receiving this year. That's the ceiling and it's not crazy. Twenty five hundred yards receiving. Five guys. All five of them are going to have significant contributions to this offense there is no guy left behind. There is no there's none of these five tight ends that you could definitively tell me right now is not going to be involved in the offense. Maybe you could say Ethan Barber's not really an elite pass catcher. I I refer you to G Day, but other than that, sure, fine. He's gonna be in on a lot of snaps. Which means he's Clint: He will be. Daniel: gonna have a lot of opportunities to catch a lot of balls. Now we don't think Gunnar Stockton's Clint: Yeah. Yeah. Daniel: gonna be out there throwing it all that much. But it's not a stretch to think that Gunnar Stockton could throw for 3,500 yards this year and 2,500 of it could come from the tight ends. That's a legitimate that's a legitimate possibility. If this tight end room lives up Clint: Yeah, absolutely. Daniel: to its potential. You could literally cut every receiver from this roster and Georgia would be fine. They'd still win the national championship. They'd still win the national championship. Clint: Couldn't agree more. Yep. All right, Daniel. We have wish one, wish two. Now we're on to wish three. Daniel: Yeah. Now's where we start to get greedy. You understand? Clint: We look, we have the best tight end room in the nation. We have five guys catching passes everywhere, Gunnar Stockton, distributing the ball to them. We have a run game that's incredible. And we have a pass rush that's top ten the nation. We are doing things that get us to the national championship. But we have one more wish yet to go. What is that wish we're gonna have? Daniel: We do. Mike White Git No, sorry. Clint: You're foolish. Stop now. Stop now. Daniel: you have to spend this third wish. We're already winning the national championship, guys. I'm telling if Georgia finishes in Clint: Done. Check. Daniel: the top ten nationally in sacks and Georgia's tight end room lives up to their expectations, this team's winning the national championship. Clint: We fine. Daniel: We're fine. So you have Clint: We're fine. Daniel: to start looking to the future. Okay? Again, I'm a simple man. I don't like I'm not a greedy man. Clint: He's not. He's really not. Daniel: I don't need it be forever. Kirby Smart's fifty years old. Clint: Yeah. Daniel: Give me fifteen years Clint: Whoa. Daniel: between now and when he's sixty five. Give me a Clint: Yep, okay, that well that's Daniel: guaranteed fifteen years of Kirby Smart being the head coach of the University of Georgia. If you're not spending a wish on this, Georgia fans, you're short sighted. You're short sighted. You gotta think about the long term. Clint: Not mad about this, by the way. Daniel: No. Listen. The fact that I'm wishing for this should tell you it ain't gonna happen. I wouldn't be wishing for it. Georgia tight Clint: No, no it's not. The first two Daniel: ends are not going to receive for 2,500 yards. They might receive for 2,000 yards. Like Clint: Mm. Daniel: they have a chance of happening. This one has no chance of happening, Clint. Clint: Will not happen. Daniel: I don't know how many more years we have in out of Kirby Smart. I honestly think losing in the first round of the playoff the last two years is a good thing for Georgia. By the way, I heard a stat today. Did you know, Clint, that the Georgia football team, if you throw out 2020, which I do because it's a Mickey Mouse year and didn't count. Do you hear me, Alabama fans? You hired Kaylin Debore on purpose. Clint: You did. Daniel: And twenty twenty didn't count. Those are Clint: You did. Daniel: both true facts about the world. I don't make the rules. Those are just facts. If you don't count twenty twenty, the Georgia football team has made the SC championship game. Eight years in a row. Clint: my. Daniel: What? Are you serious? Do you even know how spoiled Clint: my. Daniel: we are? You're talking about every year that he's been a coach? Basically? Except for the first couple? Eight years Clint: Uh-huh. Daniel: in a row, Georgia's made the SEC championship game if you don't count 2020. So Kirby Smart. We know that he's not long for this. We know that he gets frustrated. We know that Clint: No. Yep. Daniel: he's already accomplished so much in college football. I don't know how long he will last. I just don't think Georgia fans even can process how spoiled we are that the product he's putting on the field every year, people even listen to me. Listen and listen close. Texas I'm not saying this will happen. But tell me I'm crazy. Texas could lose to Ohio State, Clinton. At home. Clint: tell you this right now. Texas is losing three games this year. Daniel: Texas could lose to Oklahoma, Clinton Texas might lose Florida. Clint. There's there's a lot of interesting games. A and at the end of the season. There's a lot of interesting games on this Texas schedule. Texas loses three games. They and misses the college football playoff. They might fire Steve Sarkeesian. Steve Sarkeesian, Clint: If they don't make Daniel: Steve Sarkeesian, mind you, is the best coach they've had in a long time. And I'm including Mac Brown because I have a brain. Every other program in America is grasping at straws. Every single one of them. Come back in eight years and tell me if Kurt Signetti is Kirby Smart. I'll I'll be patient and I'll wait. Clint: He won't be. Daniel: There are no other Kirby smarts. He's doing things that no one else is doing. Clint: Correct. Daniel: Georgia fans, you don't know how good you have it. So if I had a third wish, yeah. I'm not gonna be greedy. I'm not gonna wish that he coaches until he's dead. Give me fifteen more years. Give me till he's sixty five. And then we hire Drew Bobo in a twist. We hire a Bobo as the head coach of Georgia, but it's Drew. Clint: We got a bobo. It's still nepotism. Daniel: It's still technically nepotism. But Georgia fans might take it. Clint: They would. Daniel: all right, listen, all year Clint and I are gonna be here. Make sure you're subscribed. Listen, if you're still here at this point, make sure you subscribe. This is the channel we'll be giving away our locks. If you like money. I don't know. Are you into money? Clint: I enjoy money, Daniel. I do. Daniel: Do you? Okay. Well, we're gonna give out week zero locks in a couple of days, and so you probably wanna be a part of that. Clint and I will be here all season long talking dogs, and we'll see you guys next time. Clint: See ya.
