- 0:0010 gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk all
- 0:04things Major League Baseball. Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate
- 0:09Reyes. It all starts right now.
- 0:14Oh, welcome back to the Three O Take presented by Schnook Cedery
- 0:18this episode 554 I'll be your host, Kyle Cord.
- 0:22I'm here my Co host Nate Reyes. Nate.
- 0:27Casey, how are we? Thoughts on the vlog?
- 0:32Saw you watched it last night. Yeah, solid.
- 0:36You go ahead be be my worst critic.
- 0:40No dude, you do. You do great on those things.
- 0:42It's crazy. I don't like looking at my face
- 0:45that long, that's for sure. You're on.
- 0:48You're on there a good bit my. Friend don't don't love that
- 0:51aspect to it. That's what I told you.
- 0:54You're motivation though. Definitely gym motivation.
- 0:57So that's what I needed. That's what I needed, some solid
- 1:04gym motivation. And it just was put on a silver
- 1:07platter for me, from myself. Who'd have thought, you know?
- 1:14But the wife was laughing, which is good.
- 1:16I, I, how did Meredith take it? Was she laughing?
- 1:20We actually haven't watched it yet.
- 1:21Really. I, I personally, well, I needed
- 1:23a break from it. Like I need like a, a good 4848
- 1:26hours because I've been looking at the same clips for multiple
- 1:30days in a row now. So I need a little bit of a
- 1:32break. But when, when we finally get
- 1:34around to it, I'm I'm I'm sure that she'll enjoy it in a
- 1:37similar fashion. Yeah, well, Pedra stoke that she
- 1:41she made it in the beginning of the video.
- 1:44No spoilers, but I mean she was. Excited about it.
- 1:48It's the 1st 10 seconds. I don't think you're spoiling
- 1:50anything but. Yeah.
- 1:54But yeah, man, it was. It was real good.
- 1:57Real, real good. Thanks man, did you like my I?
- 2:01Feel like, I feel like you probably could have made it a
- 2:03lot longer. I feel like it probably could
- 2:05have been a lot longer. Dude, I I enjoyed it.
- 2:08I think it flew by. I, I commented, I replied to
- 2:11somebody's comment today. I said I had to leave out so
- 2:13much like I and like I know that.
- 2:16Nobody have any like a director's cut edition that's.
- 2:20Where I just include full length MVP games that we played just.
- 2:24No, obviously that that stuff had to be shortened.
- 2:30But yeah, I, I think there is, I don't know.
- 2:35I mean, there is, I think there was a lot of Walmart talk that
- 2:37probably could have been left in.
- 2:39Oh yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, that there was.
- 2:43Very good comedic timing with like a lot of things, especially
- 2:48like after the last game and then you, you know, like
- 2:52immediately flips you walking in the Walmart parking lot with the
- 2:55TV. Oh, what a time.
- 3:00Paige is cracking up. She's like, why is he walking
- 3:02like that? What a time it's.
- 3:04Just it's just is this is what we are.
- 3:09And Mike is the way that I walk in an attack.
- 3:12I think there was a funny walk. I think there was a funny walk.
- 3:14I will say that I'm not going to try and out you too much here,
- 3:19but Paige is up in arms about. Oh, I already know.
- 3:22I already know. Your Walmart purchases and she's
- 3:24like surprised that wasn't in the vlog.
- 3:26Let's go ahead and just put that out there.
- 3:29OK, real quick before we get into our talk about the National
- 3:33League and the race that is to be and then some obviously some
- 3:38credit cannon segments here real quick.
- 3:41The, the outrage, the faux, I'm just going to call it like it is
- 3:47the faux outrage from Paige about my my taste in in bagels.
- 3:53Is crazy. She was.
- 3:55No, it's not the bagels. It's it's the combination of
- 3:58bagel plus. And how many times do I need to
- 4:02explain myself? The chocolate chip, the
- 4:05chocolate chip bagel with American cheese was not my go
- 4:09to. That was just a last resort.
- 4:11I had to. I had to have.
- 4:12Something before we left for the airport should never be a resort
- 4:17my go to. Here's what happened.
- 4:19Here's no, no, no no, no, no loud defense you have your
- 4:23chance for. Defense and then we got to get
- 4:26into it. We go to the grocery store,
- 4:29man's needs eggs because he's like, yo, got to get some
- 4:33breakfast stuff And I was like, I'm good on whatever.
- 4:35I can skip breakfast anytime, but you do you.
- 4:39We get eggs and he's like, should we do like a little
- 4:43breakfast sandwich situation? I was like, I could probably get
- 4:45down on that. I was like, did you want, you
- 4:48want like bacon or any kind of meat on this?
- 4:50You're like, no, I'm just going to go egg and maybe some.
- 4:52Cheese. It was going to be too much.
- 4:53We would. Throw it on a bagel.
- 4:55So it's like, good deal. We get to the bread aisle and
- 4:58I'm like, you know, we, we got everything bagels, we got plain
- 5:03bagels. We're kind of looking at the
- 5:04different brands and you're like, yo, low key, kind of a
- 5:09sneaky pick. The chocolate chip bagel, which
- 5:12is the what's the is specifically like?
- 5:15I remember the bag being like the, the Walmart brand.
- 5:21So it's like a it was like a it was like a ball on the budget
- 5:25brand and it was a chocolate chip bagel.
- 5:27And I was like, pause, we're not getting cream cheese right?
- 5:31And you're like, no. And I'm like, what's going on
- 5:35this bagel, which was my which was do egg and American cheese.
- 5:40And I was like on a chocolate chip bagel.
- 5:42That would have slapped. No, and you're like.
- 5:45And sometimes, in a pinch, when I'm running late for work, I'll
- 5:50sometimes even skip the egg. And I was.
- 5:53Like, no, no, I want my defense. I want my Am I entitled to my
- 5:59defense now, I don't think you and Paige, you and Paige.
- 6:03No, it's great you and Paige run under this assumption that this.
- 6:06Isn't a craft single. By the way, this isn't some
- 6:09gourmet cheese. This is a craft single.
- 6:12Continue. Kraft singles may as well be
- 6:15gourmet cheese to me out of the palate of a 12 year old.
- 6:19But hear me out. What I said was when I'm in a
- 6:22pinch, I will have a toasted cinnamon Raisin bagel with a
- 6:26slice of American cheese. You think it's not a good
- 6:29defense? I'm telling you dude, OK, can
- 6:33you promise me this? Can you promise me?
- 6:34Please get in the chat. Please get in the chat and.
- 6:37Tell. Me who?
- 6:38You. Agree.
- 6:38They're already, they're already, they're already all
- 6:41over me. What a OK A.
- 6:44Chocolate bagel with regular plain cream cheese that works a
- 6:48Kraft single. And OK, can you, can you do, can
- 6:52you do me a solid here? Do you remember that time many
- 6:55years ago on this very program where you had me try dill pickle
- 6:59seeds and Sour Patch Kids combined?
- 7:03Sure. At once.
- 7:04And you said it sounds disgusting.
- 7:06You're going to think you're going to hate it.
- 7:08It's odd. What did I do?
- 7:10I tried it. It was great.
- 7:12I thought you were out of your mind.
- 7:14Do me a favor before we record. OK, I'll I'll give you, I'll say
- 7:20a week. I won't even say my next episode
- 7:22a week. I need you to have a toasted
- 7:25cinnamon Raisin bagel with a slice of American cheese on it
- 7:30and tell me that doesn't slap as a snack.
- 7:32I'm not saying like start your day with it.
- 7:34I'm just saying, you say you can if you want because I've done
- 7:38it, but have have it as like a midday, like an afternoon snack
- 7:42and tell me that doesn't hit you think I'm crazy.
- 7:46I'm telling you have a craft single with the cinnamon Raisin
- 7:50toasted bagel. We got a truck back to the trip
- 7:53you. We pivoted to a chocolate chip
- 7:55bagel. Which would hey hand up given
- 7:59the resources we had. I probably would have.
- 8:01We probably would have been better off going to cinnamon
- 8:03Raisin. I didn't get her off with a
- 8:05plane that's. Fine, Yeah, I I didn't, I didn't
- 8:08get cream cheese, which is on me.
- 8:10Here's a caveat is that you you weren't thrilled about me
- 8:13getting Mayo and mustard for our sandwiches, but you.
- 8:16No, I literally said let's get mustard or let's get Mayo put in
- 8:19the bag. My Yeah, see in the chest.
- 8:23Cinnamon raisin's fine chunk chips.
- 8:24Not That's the difference. That's what.
- 8:25I said no. An American craft single on a
- 8:30cinnamon Raisin is just as crazy.
- 8:33No, it's not. Just literally not.
- 8:36Raisins and cinnamon and cheese have never swam in the same
- 8:41pool. And I Have you ever had a
- 8:43charcuterie board? Have you ever had a charcuterie
- 8:45board ever with cinnamon? No, but I'm saying, do you have
- 8:50little crackers and variations of crackers that have raisins in
- 8:54them? You have them with cheese.
- 8:55You have them with any variety of topping.
- 8:58I I get there, I could get there.
- 8:59Whatever. I don't need to.
- 9:00I don't need to defend myself. I don't need to.
- 9:04Yeah, you do. All I'm saying.
- 9:05Last comment before we talk ball.
- 9:07We've been going at this for way too long is in my mind.
- 9:13Chocolate chip bagel with cheese sounds better to me.
- 9:17If you include an egg and make it just a Full breakfast
- 9:21sandwich, that's that would pass.
- 9:22Better than just cheese, I will admit.
- 9:25One more comment and then I'm done.
- 9:28How many of those 18 eggs did you eat?
- 9:31How many of those 18 eggs did we?
- 9:33Eat. I didn't need them.
- 9:35I said that. You said, but you said you would
- 9:38have them. Chat.
- 9:39The answer is zero. You.
- 9:40Said you would have them. And I, there was a day where I
- 9:44yelled into your room. I was like, yo, you want some
- 9:46bags? Like Nah, I'm good.
- 9:47And I was like, I don't have the motivation to do this for
- 9:49myself. 4 hours of sleep. I don't want eggs.
- 9:52Yeah, yeah, just get pop tarts. I I agree we should have just
- 9:56taken the. Easy route.
- 9:57We were on the on that road the whole time.
- 10:00It was it was easy sandwiches, it was Uncrustables, it was
- 10:05frozen pizza. And then we really, we really
- 10:09pivoted into making some eggs. But all right, shout out Jay.
- 10:13He had a a dozen and a half eggs waiting for him and some Don
- 10:17Julio shots. By the way, 'cause super chill.
- 10:19By the way, that you're talking to Airbnb host.
- 10:21Yeah, he, I messaged him afterwards.
- 10:24I was like, hey, man, apologize for leaving all this food in
- 10:26your fridge. Like, feel free to just get rid
- 10:28of it or like, enjoy it yourself.
- 10:29We just didn't have the time to get out.
- 10:31And he's like, he's like, you all should have had more of the
- 10:33beers that the people left for you guys.
- 10:36And I was like, we Nate tried. I did.
- 10:39But yeah. Corona.
- 10:40But I did. I had to get some banana
- 10:43courage. Shout out to shout out to Jay.
- 10:46Good call on that. Yeah, got to.
- 10:48Shout out to those that are hanging out with us that have
- 10:51seen the vlog and shout out to those we're 11 minutes into this
- 10:56thing, but shout out, we gotta talk.
- 10:58Ball. Shout out to those who are new,
- 11:01you know, maybe we, maybe we expanded our listening, our
- 11:04listening group, our listenership.
- 11:06Is that a word listenership. I'm going to roll with that.
- 11:10Maybe we expanded our listenership from our, from our
- 11:12Atlanta visit. You know, we were, we were on
- 11:14the grind, We were passing out cards, we were giving out
- 11:17scanning little QR codes. So, you know, maybe there's
- 11:22maybe some new people hanging out with us and unfortunately
- 11:26we, we may have lost them due to yeah.
- 11:30These last these last 10 minutes shopping.
- 11:34Anywho, I don't think they would have We would have lost them due
- 11:37to my choice of bagel. I think we would have lost them
- 11:40due to your intolerance of my choice of breakfast foods.
- 11:43But that's neither here nor there.
- 11:45Anyway, let's. Did you have a or?
- 11:47I wasn't. Subscribe.
- 11:49I wasn't. I was still packing that
- 11:52chocolate chip bagel that you had before we went to the
- 11:54airport. Was there cheese on that?
- 11:59There was. And hey, for the record, full
- 12:01transparency, it's not Walmart. Bagels never get Walmart.
- 12:05Bagels. The bagel's not the problem.
- 12:08No, the bagel absolutely was the problem, dude.
- 12:10The bagel was crumbly. And I'm like, I haven't done
- 12:13anything with this bagel. I'm done talking bagels.
- 12:15We we got to talk, Paul. Less bagels, more ball.
- 12:19That's what I always say anyway. Anyway, check out main take
- 12:24away. Check out the vlog.
- 12:25I really should have included some bagel content in there, but
- 12:28there's some good stuff in there.
- 12:31Last thing on the vlog, did you like my editorial take on my
- 12:34call in my shot that really added the cinematic cinematic
- 12:38touch? I'm still, I'm still kind of
- 12:40pissed about my Wiffle Ball performance, to be honest with
- 12:43you. I need a rematch at some point.
- 12:47Hey, let, I was thinking about that the other day though.
- 12:49Let's make that a thing. Any, any, even if it's here,
- 12:51like even if we're like, hey, why don't you fly out here?
- 12:54Like we like we tried to do a couple years back.
- 12:57You fly out here, maybe we take a post season trip up to Philly
- 13:00or something. Well, I mean, we're already
- 13:02looking at AAA SG2026 out in Philly next year.
- 13:09We're already making that a. I'm just saying like even an
- 13:12event that's like lesser scale, lesser, you know, less of an
- 13:16event and even if it's something low key, we still do a Derby or
- 13:18something. Yeah, fair enough.
- 13:20I won't. I guess I'm I don't want to open
- 13:24this this bag of chips. Now I guess we can get into
- 13:26current events. I'll ask.
- 13:29Lee well, that about we'll do it.
- 13:30We'll see you guys well. I mean, if you want me to ask, I
- 13:33can. Make it super quick.
- 13:35We got to talk. All right, it's just an opinion
- 13:37thing because I I told you that like I went to the All Star
- 13:42game, the Home Run Derby in Denver and after you do one,
- 13:47you're like cool experience. I don't know if I necessarily
- 13:51need to do it again. That's my opinion.
- 13:55Do you kind of feel slash share the same sentiment?
- 14:00Yeah. And I would be fine as I mean
- 14:02we're doing my, I think our plan is to do WBC next year, but I
- 14:06think in terms. Of the all electric.
- 14:09Electric, I'll do that every time.
- 14:11I don't that's that's a more than a once on a lifetime thing
- 14:14if you can, but I think the only reason I'd be intrigued with
- 14:18next year's All Star game is just being in.
- 14:20Philly. In Philly.
- 14:21You could fly out here, we could easily drive up that would that
- 14:24would be a total game changer being able to drive from here
- 14:28and. We got some.
- 14:29More flexibility. We got some listeners out there
- 14:31in the PA too, so. Oh yeah, man.
- 14:34All right, fair enough. All right, let's talk.
- 14:37Let's talk NL. Let's let's let's close the book
- 14:40here. No, let's talk National League,
- 14:43Nate, the National League race. And yeah, I'm going to go ahead.
- 14:47And there's probably people going you really calling it a
- 14:49race and it's still late July. Yeah, I we know what the
- 14:54American League is, but I think it we're getting to a point
- 14:58where I think we're starting to see what the National League is.
- 15:03And it's interesting. It's real interesting.
- 15:09I'm looking at the standings right now, the Milwaukee Brewers
- 15:15with the best record in baseball at 61 and 4120 games over 500.
- 15:21They've won 13 of their last 15. They just wrapped up A5 in one
- 15:26road trip. They've won five straight series
- 15:29and as I mentioned, are the best team in baseball.
- 15:33You pair that with their central counterparts, the Chicago Cubs,
- 15:3860 and 42, just a game behind them, right?
- 15:42You've got the Phillies 58 and 43, the Mets 59 and 44, the
- 15:48Dodgers leading the West by I'm going to go ahead and call it a
- 15:54slim margin of only four and a half.
- 15:57For their standards, yeah. For their standards, that's a
- 15:59slim margin to be leading by Padres at the second at 55 and
- 16:0447. But.
- 16:06At the time of this recording. At the time of this recording.
- 16:09But this is this National League, man.
- 16:12It's getting interesting. It really is.
- 16:17And I really, it really is. I really wanted to focus on the
- 16:19Brewers here for just a moment. If if if you would.
- 16:23They deserve it. They deserve it.
- 16:25As I mentioned, they've won 13 over their last 15.
- 16:27They are on an absolute heater, doing it almost exclusively from
- 16:35the mound. Can we, is it fair to say that I
- 16:39think offensively they've been, I mean, they've been middle of
- 16:44the road, middle of the pack the last over that 15 game span that
- 16:47I, I mentioned the, the, the heater that they're on.
- 16:51They've got the eighth team, 18th best team OPS over that
- 16:56span. However, their team ERA of 242
- 17:00is second in all of baseball in that span, second only to you
- 17:05want to take a guess? Phillies.
- 17:12Phillies aren't even in the top five.
- 17:13Really just keep hearing about their staff all the time.
- 17:20I don't know. My Boston Red Sox.
- 17:25That's kind of crazy at we cherry picking a little bit.
- 17:28At a 2-3 dot, no. I'm looking at this through the
- 17:31lens of the 15 game stretch that I was that I mentioned earlier.
- 17:35Oh, gotcha. All right.
- 17:37So having a great couple of great couple of weeks, those
- 17:42those Staffs, but hey, they're they're the best team in
- 17:53baseball right now. Do we think this holds up?
- 17:58Not not saying best team in baseball by the end, but do we
- 18:01think like is it time that we take the Brewers seriously?
- 18:06Yeah, man, for sure. I absolutely think we need to,
- 18:11I, I think to your point of what we were talking about
- 18:15offensively, I, I don't think it's bad necessarily.
- 18:20They're just kind of lacking that one to two big boppers in
- 18:27the lineup and going back to last episode where we were doing
- 18:34our trade predictions, I'm really kind of bummed about not
- 18:39agreeing with your pick of Josh Naylor.
- 18:41I feel like that's just like a really easy move for them.
- 18:47It's very out there and it kind of makes sense.
- 18:49It gives them a little bit of juice in that lineup that is
- 18:53much needed. You were a big Andrew Vaughn
- 18:56truther in response to that. No, I was just kidding the But
- 19:00as far as the pitching goes, look, I mean Freddy Peralta,
- 19:07certified gangster, let's just come out and say it certified
- 19:11stud. Obviously I got the numbers
- 19:15coming into the scene. Like I I would like to see some
- 19:22I would like to see some offense added at the deadline and it
- 19:25doesn't. I I don't think we need to get
- 19:28crazy with our expectations. The Brewers are going to be the
- 19:31Brewers. I just don't think that like
- 19:35they can afford to necessarily miss because this division, it's
- 19:42it hasn't been just about this hot streak.
- 19:46It has been a little bit about the Cubs scuffling a little bit.
- 19:50And, you know, the Cubs are going to do what they need to do
- 19:53with the deadline, especially with just with the added
- 19:55pressure of having Kyle Tucker and, and wanting to, you know,
- 20:00potentially convince him to come back long term.
- 20:02Like I just, I really want the Brew crew to get in there and
- 20:06and. Get their hands dirty at this
- 20:08deadline. I think we need to caution
- 20:13listeners though, like you said, did not have too high of
- 20:16expectations when it comes to Brewers though, because it's at
- 20:18the end of the day, we're talking about the Brewers.
- 20:21This is what they do. They find ways to stay in the
- 20:25conversation, to position themselves to at the very least
- 20:31make a go with the post season, and then they just hope for the
- 20:34best when that time inevitably comes, if and when it.
- 20:37Comes rays. Voila, you know, kind of like
- 20:46the Royals of last year, the Tigers of last year.
- 20:49Yeah. You know, it's one of those
- 20:52things where you just it's it's tough, man.
- 20:57It's it's hard for you to not get emotional about it because
- 21:00you're like, I, I, I want to see this, this fan base.
- 21:04I want to see that stadium. I want to see like post season
- 21:07in Milwaukee's fun. It's always been fun.
- 21:09It's always been electric. Like you can take it all the way
- 21:12back to that, that CC trade, like it's always had that
- 21:18earning like that yearning from your, from your fan base to
- 21:22really pop off. And I don't think they're
- 21:26necessarily that team that's always going to be able to
- 21:29attract free agents. They're obviously not that team
- 21:32that's willing to fork out a ton of cash.
- 21:35They got to do it differently. And that means they really need
- 21:38to like strike well at deadlines.
- 21:40And I think this is a perfect deadline to do it.
- 21:44Yeah, you mentioned Freddy Peralta.
- 21:47Brandon Woodruff's another guy that's been very good since
- 21:50coming off the IL. How many starts has he had since
- 21:53coming back? If these numbers are correct,
- 21:57he's thrown 16 and a third. He's got an ERA of 165.
- 22:02Again, this is since coming off the ILERA of 165.
- 22:05Hitters are or batters are hitting 155 against him.
- 22:12It's three starts. Got a 285 fib, 23 KS and no
- 22:16walks. So excellent with the control
- 22:20off the IL which you love to see.
- 22:24And then Quinn Priester is another name that I feel like.
- 22:28Good name. Needs needs more attention.
- 22:32Very good baseball baseball name.
- 22:35But let me pull up his numbers here.
- 22:37Quinn Priester has been excellent as of late.
- 22:43Let's see here. Let's look at this game log.
- 22:49So minus a couple farts starts, one of which being on June 22nd
- 22:56and the other being on July 4th against the Marlins, really
- 23:04going back to May 24th yeah, going going back to May 2nd, he
- 23:13hasn't given up more than three. Well, he's given up more than
- 23:17three runs once since May 2nd, and that was on the July 4th
- 23:22start where he gave up four. Guy has been nothing but
- 23:28consistent for the Brewers in that rotation, which again,
- 23:31that's what you, that's what you expect from this team.
- 23:33But to your point and what we're most saying, you need some, you
- 23:37need some pop. Otherwise it's going to be the
- 23:40the same song and dance. It's true, I think.
- 23:43I think the the non household names only take you so far.
- 23:48You know, when, when it comes to the postseason, it comes to big
- 23:51moments and I, I don't remember the stats, they rattle it off
- 23:54every postseason, but it's almost always whoever out homers
- 23:59the other team really truly makes the biggest run.
- 24:03He needs some pop and I think there are some names out there
- 24:09that can be a budgetary move, but it's cool to see like, you
- 24:15know, Christian Yelich kind of like under the radar solid
- 24:20veteran, you know, I mean he's sniffing an 800 OPS.
- 24:25Like I think that's the best you're going to get out of him
- 24:29at this stage in his career. So I mean, that's good.
- 24:33And Jackson trio like hasn't even really come on the scene
- 24:38quite yet this year. Little bit of like a still
- 24:42figuring out down year, but you have other guys, man, it's just
- 24:46same with like William Venturius, by the way, but you
- 24:50have guys like, you know, Bryce Tarang and Sal Freelick and you
- 24:55know, Corbin or is it Corbin Durbin?
- 24:57What's his first name? Caleb Caleb Durbin after that
- 25:03move with the with the Yanks like that has been a somewhat of
- 25:06a solid move. Like they, they just are going
- 25:09to play very good baseball. And I, I don't want to beat a
- 25:14dead horse by saying that, but there are teams that are like
- 25:17that. And you know, you see when you
- 25:21have a good manager, when you, when you have guys that are just
- 25:24going to play ball the right way, that goes a long way.
- 25:29And I wish some of these bigger market teams would pay more
- 25:33attention to that cough, cough, New York Yankees, like just play
- 25:37clean baseball and you can see what kind of success that brings
- 25:41you. But you still have to sprinkle
- 25:43in some some stardom and and some big moment stuff.
- 25:47And I think that's why I really go back to your pick of Josh
- 25:51Naylor. Like I really like that pic
- 25:53because talk about a guy who doesn't shy away from the moment
- 25:57and is very much a a, a post season put me in the spotlight
- 26:05kind of guy. And you'd be surprised of what
- 26:10that can do for a team and what that can really spring so.
- 26:15Let me ask. You this, but I need more.
- 26:17I need more. Yeah, let me ask you this and
- 26:20I'm not going to hold you to it. This is more of just for the
- 26:23sake of the exercise today, July 23rd.
- 26:33What? NLCS matchup would intrigue you
- 26:37most with what we've seen to this point in the season.
- 26:42Obviously not knowing what the deadline holds for us just yet.
- 26:46Yeah. But based on what we've seen
- 26:48right now, what NLCS matchup would intrigue you most?
- 26:58I don't know, I mean it kind of feels like a basic answer.
- 27:05Are the Brewers in this? They're not.
- 27:08They're not. I think it's, it's fun to see.
- 27:13It's, it's cool to see. I think I'd need a little bit
- 27:15more to like truly fully buy in. I need a really good deadline.
- 27:25I think of matchups in my head. I think of, I want to see like
- 27:31who's the best on the mound versus who's the best at the
- 27:33plate? OK.
- 27:35So we can, can we start with the Phillies then, because in terms
- 27:38of what you're seeing on the mound?
- 27:40It's incredible what they're doing on the mound.
- 27:41Disgusting. And their staff is just so deep.
- 27:45It's so, so deep. Yeah.
- 27:51I mean, like I said, it sounds basic, but I'd, I'd probably
- 27:53have to say, probably have to say Phillies, Dodgers.
- 27:57OK, I'm glad you said that guy. I thought you were maybe going
- 28:00to take the Padres Dodgers route.
- 28:02I was going to say I don't, I haven't seen enough from the
- 28:05Padres to excite me or to warrant me wanting, wanting them
- 28:08in an, in an LCS match up. But the Phillies, the, the
- 28:14Phillies, I'm, I'm feeling the, I'm feeling, I'm not quite there
- 28:22yet, but I'm getting those vibes from what, 2022-2023?
- 28:31I'm sort of getting those again, which is good.
- 28:34I've been wanting that for some time.
- 28:36You got to be excited for it. I don't think they need a ton at
- 28:40the deadline. They need bullpen help and it's
- 28:43there's plenty out there to to get that done.
- 28:46Which by the way, I got, I got a comment in response, some
- 28:50specifically to mine, because you, you had Kyle Finnegan going
- 28:54to The Who Did you have Kyle Finnegan going to Cubs?
- 29:01Was it the Cubs? I got a graphic up, let me look.
- 29:06I got a comment in response to my pick of Kyle Finnegan going
- 29:12to the Phils and I had somebody say the Phillies are going to do
- 29:16better than Kyle Finnegan. So it got me thinking, I'm like,
- 29:21do we think the Phillies are going to be that aggressive for
- 29:24a closer? Like do we think the Phillies
- 29:25are going to be in the mix for a a Duran or or someone else in
- 29:29the mix? Yeah.
- 29:30I mean, yeah, you got to assume so just because you know what we
- 29:33were talking about earlier with with Jose Alvarado not being,
- 29:36you know, eligible for the postseason.
- 29:40And to be fair, we did record and make these predictions about
- 29:44a day before they signed David Robertson.
- 29:48And I'm not going to sit here and say that that really moves
- 29:50the needle for me. No, just because, you know, no
- 29:56disrespect, but you know, David Robertson at this point in his
- 29:59career, I, I, I think they need to really just kind of double
- 30:07down on the bullpen. I think that's pretty much it.
- 30:11And little outfield help. Totally.
- 30:17Really neat there. I mean that rotation goes a long
- 30:20long way long way. Yeah, I'd be.
- 30:26Terrified to face them in the postseason.
- 30:28I really would because of that rotation.
- 30:32And again, you have guys that are just like born for the
- 30:35moment in oh sure, Bryce Harper and Schwarber that are in, you
- 30:39know, Trey Turner is going to have some insane base running
- 30:43slide that like, and and Bryson Stott does like Bryson Stott
- 30:47shows up too. Like shy way.
- 30:48Yeah, yeah, dude, you just have names.
- 30:50And like Castellanos finds a way to get hot.
- 30:52Like you just have names. I'm not saying they're they're
- 30:55the most complete team, but like they've just they've all been
- 30:59there before. And this is probably the best
- 31:02rotation they've had with this group.
- 31:07I'd be fearful of them. Dude, and this is without NOLA.
- 31:12Noel has a shell of himself at this point, yeah.
- 31:15If you could even get a fraction of what he's capable of giving
- 31:19you later in the season into the postseason, should he?
- 31:22You know? Should he be in a state where he
- 31:24can give you any value and makes the postseason roster?
- 31:28That's insane. They're at a point where like
- 31:31if, if, if you're playing A5 game set in NLDS and you know,
- 31:36it's game 4, you know, like you don't have to necessarily pivot
- 31:43to a Wheeler. Like you can kind of go towards
- 31:46the back end of that rotation and and save.
- 31:50All it takes is that one extra starter that the rest of the the
- 31:54field doesn't have. And that's what you're looking
- 31:57at the Phillies. So I think the Mets are are
- 32:02obviously going to do things at the deadline.
- 32:05They need starting pitching bad, they need a center fielder.
- 32:10And you know, that lineup can get scary at times too.
- 32:16So that's their the Dodgers of the Dodgers, the NL.
- 32:20It's just it's very deep. It's very exciting.
- 32:24I think the Cubs are going to be a vibe.
- 32:29I'm excited for the NL more than I have been in a long time
- 32:34because we're AL guys. We don't hide that, but I'm
- 32:37looking forward to the NL postseason, man.
- 32:41It's early, I understand that, but a Phillies, Cubs.
- 32:47NLCS. Sick.
- 32:50You want to talk about postseason baseball?
- 32:53Yeah. Between the bank and Wrigley.
- 32:57A little chilly, little chilly, little chilly, little windy.
- 33:03Boy. Turtlenecks everywhere.
- 33:06Oh boy, the mock turtlenecks everywhere.
- 33:11I'm super in on that. I need it.
- 33:13I think I just can. I think I just talked myself
- 33:16into that being. I'd be sick, man.
- 33:18My. My hope and dream for for the NL
- 33:20side of things. I'd be sick.
- 33:23Last thing on the NL before we move on the yeah, shout out
- 33:28Phils and Cubbies, the Schwarber Bowl.
- 33:31Yeah, true. Big fan, last thing on the NL.
- 33:36Hot dogs. Hot dogs versus cheese steaks,
- 33:38We could. Yeah, no, there's no losers in
- 33:42that match up. There's really not.
- 33:43There's not. There's no losers in that match
- 33:45up. I love that.
- 33:47I love that for us as baseball fans.
- 33:49Yeah. Last thing on the NL hill real
- 33:53quick, the Dodgers, I know we talked what was it a couple
- 33:58weeks ago at this point where they had a little bit they hit a
- 34:00little bit of a skid like nothing to really worry about
- 34:04long term, but they just there's is floundering too strong of a
- 34:13word because like they've won 60 games.
- 34:21So I'm not, I'm not trying to discredit what they've done,
- 34:23especially with the with the completely torn apart staff.
- 34:32Can we talk about not to pat on myself, my pat on myself, pat
- 34:36myself on the back too much, but can we talk about how your boy
- 34:43told you to hammer the under during our Hot Takes in
- 34:47Predictions episode? Yeah, but what was the our I'd
- 34:53be more prone to giving you? Credit 105 and and a half games
- 34:57is that what we. Said.
- 34:59That was what the that's what I think.
- 35:01I had FanDuel sports book pulled up.
- 35:04When I was pulling up the lines I said hammer the under it's.
- 35:12Oh, well, it was. Yeah, yeah, I'll give you, I'll
- 35:16give you the under. I'll give you the credit for
- 35:18that. That was a good call. 105 games,
- 35:21like there's they're not going to win 106 games.
- 35:23I'm sorry, I don't know, floundering's tough.
- 35:28I, I feel like Mookie Betts, man, it's just like got off to a
- 35:34really, really tough start with all the sickness and stuff and
- 35:37the, and the weight loss and I mean, he's just not himself this
- 35:43year. Yeah, but he's he's Mookie is
- 35:45fortunate enough, or fortunate in the sense that the rotation
- 35:49has been absolutely decimated. So you can sort of hide behind
- 35:53that a little bit as the lead narrative when it comes to the
- 35:56Dodgers, but it doesn't help when you have your MVP sort of
- 36:05plain as a shell of himself. So, yeah, and I do think that
- 36:11we've talked about it before, I think they're going to probably
- 36:13win the deadline because that's what they do.
- 36:16They win the offseason, they win the deadline.
- 36:19They have so many, they have such a log jam and so many
- 36:24pieces that they're able to move that are big league ready, plus
- 36:27prospects. They're always willing to push,
- 36:31push the chips in. They're they're going to do what
- 36:34the Dodgers do. They're going to have a big
- 36:35deadline. I wouldn't be surprised if you
- 36:41see a big a big name, a big starter or two added to that.
- 36:46That rotation, it's coming. Just because they can.
- 36:51Just because they can, they have all of the pieces to be able to
- 36:53do it. Crazy.
- 36:57You're not wrong though. You're not wrong.
- 36:59Absolutely not wrong. But let's talk about talk about
- 37:02names. Let's talk about some dudes that
- 37:05have been on a tear. You ready for this?
- 37:11I don't know. Buckle up, people.
- 37:12I believe I believe this is there's no this is has to be a
- 37:21second appearance, right? I think he's been.
- 37:23I think he's made an appearance once already.
- 37:26But returning to the infamous Credit Cannon segments, Nick.
- 37:33Kurtz Bam. Nick Kurtz Been a minute since
- 37:37we heard that Nick Kurtz over the last 15 days, I.
- 37:44Think it is a return. Hitting 462 with six jacks, 14
- 37:51ribbies and an OPS of 1697. I think that's a big old number.
- 38:00You could probably pinpoint his turn around to the probably to
- 38:04the day, the hour, probably, dare I say minute, that I
- 38:07dropped him in fantasy. That's normally how it goes
- 38:11that. Is how it goes.
- 38:13You know, I, I hung on to him as long as I could and I said,
- 38:15Nick, love you pal, but you're taking up a slot on my team.
- 38:20And you know, we just can't have that when we're trying to make
- 38:21a, a playoff push here, which I'm very much in the thick of.
- 38:26I'm trying to, I'm fighting for my life out of here and just
- 38:29couldn't manage. And then of course, the the day
- 38:32that I drop him, I think is when things really started to click
- 38:35for him offensively. So we all have moves we're not
- 38:37proud of. Good on Nick Kurtz.
- 38:39According to Baseball America, Kurtz didn't Homer in his first
- 38:4316 big league games. However, once he went deep for
- 38:47the first time on May 13th, has not looked back.
- 38:50Since then, he hasn't gone more than six games without a Homer,
- 38:54and his longest home run drought since July or since July began
- 38:59his two games. Nice.
- 39:06Dudes crushing another dude is crushing Salvador Perez over the
- 39:13last 15 days and 400 even 7 homers, 10 RBIs and an OPS of
- 39:201430. The ageless wonder.
- 39:26It's crazy. What is he 30 5?
- 39:32Could be 84, I don't know. I.
- 39:34Think I saw it today. 35 I believe. 35.
- 39:39Yep. At the risk of sounding like a
- 39:42Homer, by the way, there's been a lot not I'm not hating on Sal
- 39:45Perez, I love Sal Perez. I, I, I think the amount of
- 39:50people saying he's like a no doubt Hall of Famer is just kind
- 39:54of crazy to me. You.
- 39:56It's really just. Side by side between him and
- 39:58Jorge Pasada. Yeah, I saw that today too.
- 40:01I was like, glad you brought that up.
- 40:03Yikes. Yeah, very, very shocking.
- 40:06Yeah. So you're like, I don't, I don't
- 40:09know. Why is that?
- 40:11Jorge got bounced in the first year he was on the ballot for
- 40:14not getting enough votes. Right.
- 40:17Why do we, why do we think that is Why, why do we think that's
- 40:20the narrative with Sal Press? Because I feel like I'm guilty
- 40:22of myself where I'm like, Oh yeah, I have for sure.
- 40:24I have been in the past up until I saw that graphic and I was
- 40:27like, yo, I think I'm out. I think I'm out on like
- 40:31immediately being a Hall of Famer.
- 40:34But I don't know, Maybe it's just the, the Royals effect.
- 40:40It's it's the lack of, I mean, no disrespect, It's, it's the
- 40:44lack of legends that have come out of that uniform and and
- 40:51entered into the hall conversation.
- 40:53Except Bobby Witt, obviously, he's asking me.
- 40:55That's a, that's a layup down the road.
- 40:58But yeah, I don't know. You want to go, you want to go
- 41:01to Cooper Sound for that. When Bobby's there, Yeah, yeah,
- 41:06yeah, I do. I'll be down.
- 41:08I'll grow my hair out, rock a mullet if he's still doing.
- 41:12You think he's still doing a mullet 15 years down the road?
- 41:16I could see him taking the Bryce route where he he cleans it up a
- 41:19little bit in his older age, sort of goes with a buzz.
- 41:23But who knows what'll be in then and maybe maybe could cycle
- 41:27back. Maybe mullets will be will be
- 41:29in. You got to remember Bobby.
- 41:30Bobby still, He's a young buck still he's he'll be around for a
- 41:33minute. It's absolutely crazy that that
- 41:38the mullet ever came back in general.
- 41:44No disrespect to Sal Perez, just a just an interesting
- 41:47conversation. That's all good good couple
- 41:53weeks though. Keep it up.
- 41:56Hey the the. Royals need all the offense they
- 41:59can get. They really do.
- 42:01Some are saying it's over for the Royals.
- 42:03But it's over. I'm all out, I'm all done.
- 42:05It's over, let's move on. Let's let's check here.
- 42:10What's the latest SO3 games under 10 games back in the
- 42:14division The. Division's out.
- 42:16Division's out is just super light but.
- 42:19Which is why I'm saying it's, it's a little premature.
- 42:22And I, I, I'm, I'm cautioning you from saying or doing
- 42:27something you're going to regret as it pertains to our young
- 42:31Bobby Witt's Kansas City Royals. We do need to, yeah, we do need
- 42:37to have a little nickname for Mr. Witter.
- 42:40I don't know what it what it is because it's like Bryce is our
- 42:44age and we keep calling him our sweet young Prince.
- 42:48Our Yeah, our sweet young Prince.
- 42:50Yeah. Which, by the way, do you like
- 42:52our age? Do you like do you like my my
- 42:58inclusion of my my my double reference of the sweet young
- 43:02Prince in the. Blog Yeah, Paige was laughing.
- 43:05And then when I zoomed in on the price, she was and you were
- 43:08like, it's not enough. Honestly, actually, I meant I
- 43:11meant what I said. I meant what I said.
- 43:13I'd pay, I'd pay double. I think.
- 43:15I think that's what it's worth minimum anyway.
- 43:19Any who's no disrespect to Sal Perez, but to your point, having
- 43:23a great couple weeks and as I mentioned, with the Royals
- 43:26fighting for their postseason lives, what did I say four games
- 43:30back as of this very second? They need all the help they can
- 43:33get. Another team that's not
- 43:37necessarily, I won't say is fighting for their post season
- 43:39lives, but a team that can we say has been playing better ball
- 43:47as of late. Better ball.
- 43:50We'll just say surprising ball. The Miami Marlins, bro.
- 43:55The Miami Marlins, I don't know if you've checked, they're only
- 43:585 under. They're not that bad.
- 44:02I mean, I know the Braves. That's what I was going to say.
- 44:05I know the Braves have been the Braves, but they're still the
- 44:07Braves, if that makes sense. Like if you're tracking.
- 44:10Sounds like a good T-shirt. The Braves have have been the
- 44:15Braves we know in 2025, but at the end of the day, there's
- 44:19still the Braves. I think I think most people
- 44:21would track with me there and given given that 4 back in the
- 44:28win column from the Marlins, but I think we can credit A1 Kyle
- 44:37Stowers. All Star.
- 44:41All Star Kyle Stowers to you and to me over the last 15 days.
- 44:48Hitting 4/29 was 6 homers, 15 ribs and an OPS of 1562.
- 44:58Forgive me, I don't have the source for where for which from
- 45:05where I pulled this, but there has not as a pertaining to Kyle
- 45:12Stowers. There's not been a more
- 45:13productive player in baseball over the last month then
- 45:17Stowers. He leads in WRC plus 261-F42-ON
- 45:24base 457 and slug 897 and that's over the last month.
- 45:29That's beyond even the span initial span of the last 15 days
- 45:33that I mentioned. So good on Stowers really,
- 45:36really settling into his own down there in Miami.
- 45:39And I've even heard possible trade piece.
- 45:46No. I it's been floated out there
- 45:48whether I I agree. It'd be real dumb.
- 45:53Hey real quick I'm just seeing this in the chat.
- 45:58Let's cool it with the Rich Hill slander as it pertains to the
- 46:04Royals. Jake in the chat Rich Hill took
- 46:07the mountain for the Royals. Pretty sure he pretty sure he
- 46:10only gave up one if I'm not mistaken.
- 46:12We'll, I mean, we, we still have to, we still have to touch on
- 46:15that here in a minute, but. Desperate times they out like
- 46:21that said. Gives up 1 and and you're saying
- 46:25that's not good enough. Rich Hill, this is where you're
- 46:28turning to today's Junie Moyer. You got you got to do what you
- 46:33got to do. Next up, the aforementioned
- 46:37Phillies. Christopher Sanchez since June
- 46:4319th is 4 and O with an ERA of 122 and 46 strikeouts across six
- 46:50starts during that span, according to Optus stats.
- 46:54Christopher San talk about disrespect.
- 46:59Sore subject According to Optus Stats, Christopher Sanchez is
- 47:05one of three pitchers in Major League Baseball to have a seven
- 47:08start span with an undefeated record, a sub 15 ERA, 50 plus
- 47:15innings pitched, 50 plus strikeouts, fewer than five
- 47:19walks and no more than one home run allowed.
- 47:23The others? Greg Maddox and Clayton Kershaw.
- 47:27These very decent company. Very, very decent.
- 47:33All in the season Christopher Sanchez is sporting and ERA of
- 47:36240 with a whip of one O 9 across 124 in and he's nine and
- 47:42two of the did I say 134 KS to just 30 two walks.
- 47:47I mean, that's a stuff they they literally are rolling out two
- 47:51aces. That's an ace on most other
- 47:55Staffs. Who am I missing?
- 47:58It's Wheeler Sanchez. And then who's like the third
- 48:02head of that monster, Lizardo. Was it Lizardo?
- 48:06Why am I? Why am I blanking?
- 48:11Lizardo has looked better as of late.
- 48:13I don't know if you've seen, but he he, he hit that.
- 48:16He had that run of I think it was a few rough starts but has
- 48:20since turned it around. I think it had a lot to do with
- 48:23the cornrows. Did you see that that that was?
- 48:27Yeah, I mean, that was, oh, Rangers was yeah, what am I
- 48:31saying? Rangers was yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 48:34obviously traded, traded him to you in fantasy.
- 48:40Yeah, man, that that rotation specifically this year, like I
- 48:45know these guys have had good year, like good to great years,
- 48:49you know, maybe scattered throughout over the last, but
- 48:52they haven't all aligned this way and like maybe ever.
- 48:56Correct. And I and I think that's why
- 48:59like you got to kind of look at, and I'm not saying this is like
- 49:03a lockdown name by any means, but going back to the comment
- 49:06that we heard of, like, oh, they're going to do a lot better
- 49:10than Kyle Finnegan at the deadline.
- 49:11It's like, well, you got to remember that a couple of these
- 49:16names when you when you look at guys that are getting starts,
- 49:20like there's, there's a legitimate conversation that
- 49:22Aaron Nola could could potentially slide to the pen
- 49:25come postseason. You don't need him if if he's
- 49:29not performing like that's a weapon that you can add to the
- 49:32pen. A Taiwan Walker.
- 49:35Like these are names that like can eat up innings as long as
- 49:39you get to the postseason and then you can slide them into the
- 49:42bullpen. And you'd be surprised how much
- 49:44of A value that brings for innings that need to be eaten
- 49:49up. And you'd be surprised what
- 49:51starters are capable of when they know they don't have to go
- 49:54more than two or three or even one or two.
- 49:58That's all you need from me. Watch this right or.
- 50:02Even in this and we've seen this play out in the postseason
- 50:05before. If, if, if the series go, if
- 50:07whatever series they're in at at any point in time goes deep and
- 50:12you need like a, you know, a quote, UN quote spot start from
- 50:15a guy that you didn't originally have penciled into the script.
- 50:18But at the at series start to be able to look at a guy like Aaron
- 50:24Nola be like, yeah, can you can you just give us a few innings
- 50:27to to get us to get us going here as we sort of crawl to the
- 50:31finish line? That's a crazy asset to have in
- 50:34the back pocket. That's what I'm saying.
- 50:35Crazy. So like as much as you can sit
- 50:38here and say, yeah, they need to do a lot to help out that
- 50:41bullpen, yeah, I don't remember those guys are going to float
- 50:45back there because they are a OK with those 4 starters, Ben
- 50:52Wheeler, Ben Sanchez, Ben Suarez and Lizardo, that's just fine.
- 51:02That's going to be scary in October.
- 51:04That's all. That's all I can say.
- 51:06Matthew Boyd Bang 6 and O since June 14th, 6 and O with an ERA
- 51:15of one O, 238 strikeouts and seven stars.
- 51:22Hasn't allowed a run in 23 straight innings.
- 51:27Matthew. Boyd.
- 51:30Excuse me. Excuse me.
- 51:37That's actually kind of crazy. That can't be.
- 51:41Not the same guy. Not the same.
- 51:43Matthew Boyd. My God, you mean that's the same
- 51:46guy? Yeah, that's that is the Matthew
- 51:51Boyd. That's nice.
- 51:57I've said this before, but I I'm a you know, I'm a big fan.
- 52:01I'm a big fantasy baseball guy. And just looking at the points
- 52:05that he's put up since like the middle of June, 19132018222824,
- 52:14that's if you knew nothing else about baseball, but you knew
- 52:18fantasy baseball, that's that's pretty good, pretty good guy to
- 52:22have. What you need?
- 52:25Pretty good guy to have in your rotation.
- 52:29Another guy that you really would like to have in your
- 52:31rotation this year. Nick Pavetta since June 25th, 3
- 52:37and O with an ERA of .5736 strikeouts in five starts.
- 52:48Dude, all of you know the man I apparently.
- 52:51Don't know the man because I. Remember going back, I know this
- 52:55happened and you were. Like I know.
- 52:57We know who he is. They are who we thought they
- 53:00were. That was very much your vibe
- 53:03about him. My vibe was we know who this guy
- 53:07is, but apparently we don't know who this guy is because as of
- 53:12right now, Nick Pavetta on the year, it's got a 281 with a WHIP
- 53:17of 1 flat 127 strikeouts to just thirty walks.
- 53:23Shazam, 10, and two for the San Diego Padres.
- 53:29Fathers. Yeah, that's, that's nice with
- 53:34it. That allows you to entertain
- 53:36Dylan C's conversations, which, by the way, have apparently.
- 53:41Intensified with the Cubs that I see today.
- 53:45The Cubs. Cubs, Yanks and then one more
- 53:47team, I think. Mets, maybe?
- 53:48OK, let's be serious. The Cubs.
- 53:52Well, that was the official rumor.
- 53:56I don't know. I hate my team.
- 53:57I hope they do nothing. I hope everyone gets fired.
- 54:01So, OK, that's where I'm at. Well, Boone.
- 54:03Just got tossed tonight so you're you're one step closer.
- 54:05I guess trying to spark up the boys never works.
- 54:09Speaking of firing up the boys, I can't hear that now and not
- 54:16think of Toshera and MVP 2005 in our World Series charge in the
- 54:21mound in the ninth, down 1. He's trying to fire up the boys.
- 54:25His AB was done. He's not providing anything on
- 54:28the basis. That's a great point of view I
- 54:34hadn't considered. That's good.
- 54:36Check out the vlog, you'll know exactly what we're talking
- 54:38about. Sure.
- 54:39That was Was that on purpose? Did you beat him on purpose?
- 54:44No, remember I was trying, it was a one run game and I was
- 54:48trying to put him on. Oh did I not include that that
- 54:53clip right before where I was like.
- 54:55Is this? I don't remember.
- 54:56OK, I was, I said something like I'm going to click this and it's
- 54:59either going to walk him or hit him.
- 55:01And I was like, I just hit him and and all of a sudden you're
- 55:03like, I'm going to charge him out.
- 55:04And then he just takes off, gets tossed and then Tahata gets
- 55:08tossed. It was a mess.
- 55:09I. Mean that's that's what
- 55:10baseball's missing. And that the truth.
- 55:16Yeah. But yeah, check out the vlog,
- 55:17you'll you'll know what we're talking about.
- 55:19Did by the way, do you remember? Did my did my.
- 55:23I don't think my big thick Sydney Ponzon reference made it
- 55:28in. Did it?
- 55:29I don't. Think it did?
- 55:30No. I think I clipped that.
- 55:32It's a shame. I think something we called
- 55:34somebody thick. You were making fun of somebody.
- 55:36'S head. Oh yeah, that got it there.
- 55:39That was, I couldn't tell you. I was too bored about his head.
- 55:43Didn't even catch the name. But going back to what we're
- 55:46saying, talking about firing up the boys, Nick Ladolo is trying
- 55:49to do what he can do to fire up the boys.
- 55:52In his four starts since July 5th, he's three and one with an
- 55:56ERA of 161 with 27 strikeouts. And just today, through a
- 56:02complete game against the Nationals, CG shut, by the way,
- 56:079 innings, zero runs, eight KS, four hits, 105 pitches.
- 56:12It was his first career complete game and shut out.
- 56:16I could see a future Dodger, Nicola Dolo, I could see that.
- 56:22Yeah, I feel like that just makes sense.
- 56:25Yeah. I don't know why just, you know,
- 56:33just feels right, Yeah. It's good.
- 56:37That's a good call. I'm going to have to clip that.
- 56:39And we come back to this. Yeah.
- 56:41Closing the book here. Closing the book.
- 56:46We already mentioned his name. Don't put any disrespect on it.
- 56:51Rich Hill at age 45, becomes the oldest player in major leagues.
- 57:01That's it. Becomes the oldest player in
- 57:03major leagues. I thought there was more to this
- 57:05nugget. It just says becomes the oldest
- 57:06player in the majors with with this with his start against the
- 57:09Cubs for the Royals. Exciting.
- 57:13Stuff The oldest player to start a game since May 27th, 2012,
- 57:19when a guy you already mentioned on this podcast, Jamie Moyer
- 57:23through his final game with Colorado at age 49.
- 57:29Tells you. I feel like if social media was
- 57:32more of a thing back in 2012, Jamie Moyer's legacy at age 49
- 57:38would agree have carried on much longer.
- 57:41Yeah, but that's I think that's the beauty of baseball.
- 57:44And I think that's the beauty of like just men conversations.
- 57:48Have you seen those clips that are just like you just hung out
- 57:52with your best friend for 48 hours and you're like, I don't
- 57:55know, we just put an entire starting roster out, the first
- 57:58name starting at R like that's that's like what we do.
- 58:03But like that's that's how Jamie Moore lives.
- 58:06That's how he survives. You know what I mean?
- 58:09Then I think that's exactly where he belongs, in a very
- 58:13poetic way. I couldn't have said that more
- 58:18beautifully well done. But as you're saying that, I was
- 58:21thinking, I was like, remember how last offseason we did those
- 58:24drafts? We're just doing a bunch of
- 58:26drafts this past offseason. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:30A draft that we need to do is some variation of like a random
- 58:36generator that that forces us to name the first player that comes
- 58:40to mind based on a specific criteria, whether it's position
- 58:45or first letter of 1st letter of first name or something like
- 58:48that and see who's random first gut instinct team is better than
- 58:54who's. Well, have you seen the game?
- 58:56I like that. Have you also seen the game
- 58:59where you just go back and forth and you'll name a name and then
- 59:04like the first letter of the last name of the guy you named?
- 59:07It has to be the first. Letter of the first name.
- 59:09And then you just like do that back and forth.
- 59:11Those are nice. Those are nice.
- 59:13I'm not quick on my feet though. I don't like, I'm not quick on
- 59:15my feet. That's what makes it fun.
- 59:17No, that's what makes it fun. Or for my version, your version
- 59:20obviously different, but for my version, you're supposed to not
- 59:23have time to think. Yeah.
- 59:25As long as there's no clock or buzzer, I think I'm OK.
- 59:28Yeah, I don't the countdown. I don't like that.
- 59:30I don't like that sound. Yeah, I'm not a fan of that.
- 59:37I'm not a fan. You don't like that?
- 59:38No. Couple other items here before
- 59:46we get out of here. Eric Fetty, DFA, Ed.
- 59:49I didn't realize how bad it had gotten.
- 59:51I didn't. Realize it either I saw that I
- 59:54was like, I thought it was a decent.
- 59:55He was kind of like a spot start in fantasy for a little bit.
- 59:58Yeah, he was. He threw.
- 1:00:01Got a little nugget here for you to just put it in perspective
- 1:00:04since pitching his his first ever complete game shut out back
- 1:00:10on May 9th against the Nationals, he went O and seven
- 1:00:15with five no decisions and a six 3/8 ERA over a 12 start stretch.
- 1:00:22Yeah, it's tough, which like obviously not good, but I don't
- 1:00:27like, I don't know, I feel like there's other guys around the
- 1:00:31league that should be getting DFA if that's the, if that's the
- 1:00:34threshold or that's the requirement for DFA, you know
- 1:00:38what? Was the corresponding move?
- 1:00:39Do they have somebody they coming off the no they brought
- 1:00:43or bring someone up? No, they brought somebody up.
- 1:00:46I can't. Somebody from Memphis.
- 1:00:48Yeah. You.
- 1:00:49Could see that could also. There's also always.
- 1:00:53Like a Andre Granillo Granillo, Andre Granillo.
- 1:01:01Let's go, Andre. Good stuff.
- 1:01:08Good stuff it. Sounded like you were going to
- 1:01:10say something there. That's why I was giving you the
- 1:01:12floor. No.
- 1:01:14No. OK, let's go, Andre.
- 1:01:17Last item here. I meant to confirm this with my
- 1:01:22wife before we got on just to make sure it was doable, but
- 1:01:26plan for Sunday night baseball. Right, right, right.
- 1:01:30I forgot to confirm as well. We're.
- 1:01:32Trying to do if if you're familiar with what we've been
- 1:01:35doing to this point in the season, we try to pick a Sunday
- 1:01:39night baseball stream once a month.
- 1:01:42I think we've done two or three. I think 3 at this point, 2 maybe
- 1:01:46just two I. Think it's just two.
- 1:01:48This will be our third one. This will be our third this
- 1:01:53Sunday, July 27th, 7:00 PM Mets versus Giants.
- 1:01:58If you're interested in keeping score, learning how to keep
- 1:02:01score, Nate once again will be leading the way.
- 1:02:04He'll be showing us all the tips and tricks that you need to know
- 1:02:08to keep score. So this will be our third
- 1:02:10installment of that learning to Keep book series, which will be
- 1:02:15great. I'm looking forward to that.
- 1:02:17I I I've thoroughly enjoyed the last two, minus the fact last
- 1:02:23time we did it. Well, that's what I was thinking
- 1:02:25about is that like we may have a trade that goes down during the
- 1:02:30stream. We could also have another
- 1:02:37scenario where it like messes up our book again, 'cause maybe
- 1:02:41someone gets traded on one of these teams.
- 1:02:43We have a little dugout watch during the stream, which by the
- 1:02:47way, I I'm putting you on the spot with it.
- 1:02:49Maybe we should have a conversation about a deadline
- 1:02:53recording next week instead of Wednesday.
- 1:02:57I got the Brandon Lake concert, by the way.
- 1:02:59So I got to, I got to do it basically right as like the
- 1:03:03deadlines kind of coming to an end.
- 1:03:06Are you for real? I think it ends at 6:00 PM.
- 1:03:12July 31st, 6:00 PM. Yeah.
- 1:03:15Eastern, yeah. So maybe we do it like right as
- 1:03:20that's hop on like 5:30 Eastern and as trades are like trickling
- 1:03:29in, we can make sure we make note of them.
- 1:03:31Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, we can do that.
- 1:03:33But before that, before that time comes sunlight baseball.
- 1:03:37Learn to keep score if you're interested and even if you
- 1:03:39already know how to keep score or you're just not interested in
- 1:03:41learning to keep score but you want to hang out with fellow
- 1:03:45baseball fans, including Nate and myself, just want to watch
- 1:03:49some ball because you love ball we.
- 1:03:51We'd like seeds. Eat some seeds.
- 1:03:53We'd like to think that Josh and Nook, we'd like to think that
- 1:03:56you love ball because you're listening to us and we love
- 1:03:59ball. Plan to join us.
- 1:04:02We'll probably hop on. I think our plan last time or
- 1:04:05what we ended up doing was hop on, you know, a little bit ahead
- 1:04:08of time. Yeah, just to get, get, get your
- 1:04:11books squared away. So if you don't have a book, get
- 1:04:13a book. They're super.
- 1:04:16I mean, they're relatively affordable on Amazon, I think.
- 1:04:18I think that's where I got mine that you recommended.
- 1:04:24If you need a tip, I'm looking at it right now.
- 1:04:26It's the Rawlings deluxe score book for baseball and softball.
- 1:04:30It's called The Big Book. It's like 18 bucks or something
- 1:04:34like that. Yeah, I mean for the you still
- 1:04:36get out of it relatively affordable, so.
- 1:04:38A lot of games in there a. Lot of games in there, so yeah,
- 1:04:41make plans to join us for that, but other than that it's all I
- 1:04:43really got. I need you to settle an argument
- 1:04:46for me. We got you don't need to sing
- 1:04:51it, but I need you to recite the Beans beans song that you heard
- 1:04:59when you were a kid because it's there was a different version
- 1:05:04out there that I did not grow up with.
- 1:05:07I'm afraid I don't have any clue as what you're talking about.
- 1:05:10Come on, you're like beans. Beans good for your heart?
- 1:05:14You never heard that one. What?
- 1:05:16If I did, it's probably maybe it's repressed or I just forgot
- 1:05:19about it, I don't know. It's crazy.
- 1:05:21Well, little story time. I made Mexican food the other
- 1:05:25day and made beans and I was farting a lot and so great.
- 1:05:30Then Paige was like, I was like started, yeah, lot of lot of
- 1:05:36heaters like that. So I was telling her I was like,
- 1:05:41you know, it's they're good for you.
- 1:05:42Farts are good for you. It's a natural part of life.
- 1:05:47And so are beans. She's like, beans aren't good
- 1:05:50for you. See, this is what I was alluding
- 1:05:52to. I grew up with beans.
- 1:05:54Beans good for your heart. The more you eat, the more you
- 1:05:57fart, the more you fart, the better you feel.
- 1:06:00Let's have beans with every meal.
- 1:06:01That's the song. That's the song that I grew up
- 1:06:05with. But she's like, no, that's not
- 1:06:09the song. And I don't know, because when
- 1:06:12you Google beans beans song, it's totally different lyrics.
- 1:06:17It's like the the something toot it's.
- 1:06:21It's, Oh yeah, I just put it up on, I put it up on Wikipedia.
- 1:06:24Beans, Beans the musical fruit. Crazy beans.
- 1:06:29Fruit. Are they?
- 1:06:32Let's check. Beans are a fruit.
- 1:06:35Beans are not fruits. I don't know why it says this
- 1:06:37I'm. Already my song's already
- 1:06:39better. Anyway, anyway, I pulled up the
- 1:06:41Beans Beans song on Wikipedia. The lyrics are as follows.
- 1:06:45Beans means the musical fruit. The more you eat, the more you
- 1:06:48to the more you to, the better you feel.
- 1:06:50So eat your beans with every meal.
- 1:06:52See, mine's a slight variation which we don't know if beans are
- 1:06:57good for your heart or not, but it also says you know that beans
- 1:07:00aren't fruit. It also says another alternate
- 1:07:03version includes beans. Beans are good for your heart.
- 1:07:05The more you eat, the more you fart.
- 1:07:06The more you fart, the better feels.
- 1:07:08Beans should be served at every meal.
- 1:07:10I don't like that. I just, I like the let's have
- 1:07:12beans with every meal. That's the version I grew up
- 1:07:15with. And so that's why I was hoping
- 1:07:17you could settle. Hold the phones A variant A
- 1:07:20variant documented by Iona Opie, an English folklorist, is as
- 1:07:25follows. Beans.
- 1:07:26Beans make you fart. Beans.
- 1:07:28Beans are good for your heart. Apple crumble makes you rumble.
- 1:07:32Custard powder makes it louder. That's a tough meal.
- 1:07:37What's custard powder? I don't know, but mixed with
- 1:07:42beans not a good result. It's.
- 1:07:46A bad mix. So I guess I don't know.
- 1:07:49I mean, I because when I tried to Google mine, I had to I had
- 1:07:53to scroll a little bit to find my song.
- 1:07:55Her song popped up right away and I didn't realize that that
- 1:07:58was the more popular song. But I don't live.
- 1:08:00They're not a fruit and I don't I don't like saying toot.
- 1:08:05I'm a grown man I fart. All right, all right.
- 1:08:09Yeah, No, we, we know too much about one another at this point,
- 1:08:14so let's call it there. Check out the vlog as I
- 1:08:17mentioned it. Yeah, Crazy sidetrack.
- 1:08:22I don't know why you decided to end with this, but I mean, we've
- 1:08:24covered. I had an argument that I needed
- 1:08:26to settle. With yourself which?
- 1:08:27You didn't help with yeah. I was going to say with yourself
- 1:08:29because I'm not know how this. Go back to your chocolate chip
- 1:08:33bagels with. I was going to say.
- 1:08:38Talk about something that'll make a fart.
- 1:08:40I, I got to, I got to figure this out, man.
- 1:08:43I got to, I got to find people that understand what I'm saying.
- 1:08:47I need them to try again, is my closing thought.
- 1:08:52Try a cinnamon Raisin bagel. Toasted.
- 1:08:55Put that thing in the toaster and throw a piece of cheese on
- 1:09:00there. I'm telling you, it has to be
- 1:09:02amazing to me. Has to be American.
- 1:09:04It's crazy to me that your counter to this argument was you
- 1:09:08ever had a charcuterie board, as if Kraft singles are served on
- 1:09:13charcuterie boards. No, but you're also.
- 1:09:15Like whoa whoa, bread and and cheese and raisins don't go
- 1:09:20together. I'm like, they literally do.
- 1:09:22Get out of here bro. I was running late for work
- 1:09:25today, so I took a bite out of Velveeta.
- 1:09:27Whatever, whatever. Hey, how about the Yankees try
- 1:09:31and win a game for once? They can't, they make 6 errors
- 1:09:34every game and I think the official score is just a lot
- 1:09:37nicer than me. Whatever I'm, I'm done trying.
- 1:09:40Did you guys just get swept by Philly?
- 1:09:43Did I think we put out the win tonight, didn't we?
- 1:09:45I can't see it because I'm blacked out for some reason.
- 1:09:48I think because it's on ESPN, which I I.
- 1:09:50Can't. Oh, it's tied 6/6.
- 1:09:52Oh bottom 9, turn the game on. I got to get on that great time
- 1:09:56to get out of here, folks. If you're listening, if you're
- 1:09:58watching, try Do me This favor. I'll give you a week.

- 1:10:09next episode, even on Sunday or yeah, before Sunday.
- 1:10:13Cinnamon Raisin bagel toasted American American cheese.

- 1:10:19all I'd. Like for you to provide some
