- 0:28Let's get ready.
- 0:30Comfortable and get started Hello, Instagram.
- 0:33Hello Facebook.
- 0:34As you know, and you're new to my channel, my name is Dr.
- 0:37Jennifer Zi.
- 0:38I am a functional medicine practitioner, a medical coach for my patients.
- 0:43I help them heal.
- 0:44The bodies by eliminating symptoms and we do all the wonderful work.
- 0:49We co-create health and wellness, my patient and I, by utilizing natural medicine.
- 0:55So I focus more so on the gut, your digestive system, because that's where everything important is located, including your liver, your kidneys, your spleen, your pancreas, your immune system, your neurotransmitters.
- 1:08They are all produc in the gut.
- 1:10Because I am a firm believer that this disease begins in the gut SO'S wellness.
- 1:15So for all of us that are really struggling in our health and wellness and we are not seeing results, I really invite you and encourage that you look into the gut.
- 1:24What can you do to maximize gut health?
- 1:26Like if you keep getting infections all the time.
- 1:29Or you have chronic fatigue, you have brain fog, or you have digestive issues.
- 1:33Like what can I do to really maximize my gut health?
- 1:37Because I'm telling you, it starts there.
- 1:40If you wanna heal your body, get off the medications or decrease your Medication usage, you have to focus on the gut.
- 1:47Now, I have a request for my patient because I literally give my patients all the tools, the and the resources that they need to help them heal the bodies.
- 1:58And sometimes people will ask me questions when I'm trying to push a particular, Food on them, a food group on them, or I'm trying to recommend, a product, an abundance, like, take more of this, take more of that.
- 2:10So patients will literally tell me like, what is the purpose of me eating all these greens?
- 2:15What is the purpose of me taking more of these supplements versus this supplements because I have a particular, symptoms you're trying to address, and I have a reason why I'm doing what I'm doing.
- 2:23So today I wanna talk to you guys about the most important.
- 2:28Vital mineral that is responsible for over 300 different processes in our bodies.
- 2:36so we hear of, you know, like potassium, sodium, calcium, those are minerals, but no one is really focusing on the most important abundant mineral that we all need.
- 2:49For whatever health issues you have, we all can benefit from that.
- 2:53And I'm talking about magnesium today, So do you guys know how important magnesium is?
- 2:58Like magnesium is very important.
- 3:00If you wanna get whatever your headaches, magnesium, if you wanna get whatever your fatigue, try some magnesium.
- 3:04If you wanna get whatever your constipation, take some mechanisms, if you wanna get one of your musculoskeletal issues.
- 3:10Take some magnesium.
- 3:11If you want to really get rid of your anxiety, your high blood pressure, magnesium.
- 3:16Magnesium, magnesium, again, it is so important.
- 3:19It is responsible for over 300 processes in the bodies.
- 3:23So I wanna take a few minutes to kind of bring some awareness, how maybe if you're trying all the things out there, And you're still having muscle spasm, muscle cramp, pain, and uh, banana.
- 3:33Because a lot of people would tell me, oh, I get magnesium from eating banana.
- 3:37Yeah, you could, but you get muscle potassium from eating banana.
- 3:40So really look into the different type of magnesium you need for your particular symptoms, because not all magnesiums are created equal.
- 3:48Not all magnesium work and all the symptoms that we have, there are specific ones that you need to take in order for you to address.
- 3:55Whatever that you try to address, like AKA symptoms.
- 3:58So first, let's talk about what are the signs of poor magnesium or magnesium deficiency.
- 4:04Now what do I look for that deficiency to really tell me that I need to up my magnesium intake?
- 4:11Well, first of all, headaches, right?
- 4:13All of you wonderful people that are suffering with headaches, migraine, that's the magnesium deficiency.
- 4:19We all know about muscle cramp pain, muscle spasm, magnesium deficiency.
- 4:23If you have poor cognitive, like A D, D D, adhd, that's also magnesium deficiency, irregular heartbeat, arrhythmias, AFib, high blood pressure, magnesium deficiency, numbness, entangling, right, magnesium deficiency, mood and behavioral disorders, like as I mentioned, Attention deficit, less magnesium deficiency, constipation, as I mentioned, magnesium deficiency, poor sleep qualities, insomnia, magnesium deficiency, soreness and pain, magnesium deficiency.
- 4:53So you can see how many of us have one or two or three of those symptoms and how magnesium can really help with that, So for my patients, I have bone fog.
- 5:03poor concentration, and also forgetfulness or like cognitive decline.
- 5:09I will look for a product that has magnesium in it because I know they can benefit from that The brains and muscle and magnesium works well for smooth muscle, just like your heart is a smooth muscle.
- 5:19Really magnesium.
- 5:20Like for your headaches and your brain fog and your forgetfulness, your cognitive impairment.
- 5:25You need to get some magnesium, in your body, even stress, We have magnesium that are designed for stress and anxiety balance your blood sugar, so magnesium can help that, inflammation, brain inflammation, body inflammation, joint inflammation, magnesium can help that.
- 5:40detoxification, magnesium can help as well.
- 5:43So for chronic headaches and migraine, like again, magnesium can help.
- 5:48So the cells we have, you know, you guys know that I mentioned how we are like a factory, like the body is like a factory and you have tiny little workers and units we call cells.
- 6:00And when you don't have enough magnesium instead of the cells, the cells will not be able to produce energy for you.
- 6:08And we all know for when it comes to constipation and irritable bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, we all take magnesium citrate.
- 6:15milk of magnesium.
- 6:17You can take magnesium oxide.
- 6:19There's so many like different types of magnesium you can take to help with relieve constipation.
- 6:23when I give my patients a product for constipation, I'm always looking to make sure there's mechanism oxide in it.
- 6:29That magnis seat treat, because magnis seat treat can be very, very inflammatory.
- 6:34It's harsh on your bowels, it's harsh on the lining of the colon, so you have to make sure that you get a low extended, low slow release of magnesium, like magnesium oxide.
- 6:45So in my gut declaring program, as I mentioned, I have the signature program that I run.
- 6:49Like, this is what I do.
- 6:51This is how, I help people.
- 6:52There's a product in the program to help relieve constipation because there's no way we can heal our bodies if we're holding onto toxins.
- 7:00So I focus on elimination, so that product has mechanism oxide in it and plus some other herbs.
- 7:07I love that product so much because when you take magnesium oxide, you are not gonna have the cramping.
- 7:13When you take magnesium crate, then you have cramping.
- 7:16So always go for mechanism oxide.
- 7:18So it's gonna help you have healthy bowel movement.
- 7:21you know, elimination of toxins, endotoxins, biotoxins, mycotoxins is gonna help calm your bowels, the inflammation as well.
- 7:29So it's really good.
- 7:30So another thing you can take, again for energy, magnesium, because that's gonna help produce, it's gonna help with mitochondria function and it's also gonna help with the adrenal gland.
- 7:40So that's where the stress management comes into place when you take magnesium.
- 7:44So we say magnesium supports glucose.
- 7:46High blood pressure can benefit from magnesium.
- 7:48It's good for circulation.
- 7:50So if you're gonna work out, it's good to put a little bit of magnesium powder into your smoothies, like your pre-workout shake, because that's gonna decrease the pain and as the muscles are contracting, so you're gonna have more mobility.
- 8:04Your muscle's gonna go through a stage of contraction and relaxation, contraction, relaxation.
- 8:09you're gonna feel less sore at the end of your workout.
- 8:12So as I am doing this study, they move your body challenge.
- 8:16I do have magnesium, magnesium malate that I put in my shake.
- 8:20I do a little teaspoon in my shake because again, as I'm contracting, I'm lifting weight.
- 8:26And now they have a little bit of, discomfort.
- 8:28So I don't want to be so sore that's gonna interfere with me working out when I go back to the gym.
- 8:33So I use magnesium mallet.
- 8:35Magnesium is really good for sleep.
- 8:38You can pair it with gaba.
- 8:39GABA is a protein, So when you do magnesium and you pair with GABA and LT Nin, you really get good deep REM sleep now.
- 8:50We say muscle cramping is good.
- 8:52You can get magnesium.
- 8:53So what do we do to get magnesium?
- 8:55Oh, another, reason why I love magnesium is also for fibromyalgia.
- 8:59Again, help decrease the chronic pain because with fibromyalgia patient, you have those pressure points, like when people touch you in certain part of your body, you can feel that tenseness because of the toxins being trapped in your muscle fiber.
- 9:14So when you take magnesium, We releases in my IV vitamin therapy.
- 9:19I use two types of magnesium.
- 9:21So when you use magnesium for intravenous, you have two type.
- 9:24You have magnesium chloride and you have magnesium sulfate.
- 9:28So when people come to my clinic and they have headaches, migraine, and they receive an iv, I give a magnis sulfate.
- 9:35Magnesium sulfate is really good for relaxation.
- 9:37So we use magnesium sulfate in pregnant people as well because it kind of softening the cervix so that the cervix can dilate so that baby can come out.
- 9:47But if you have like musculoskeletal and I'm giving you an iv, I do magnesium chloride.
- 9:52so two type of mechanism.
- 9:53IVs mechanisms solve fat for relaxation, anxiety, decrease your headaches, decrease your migraines, like, kind of relaxes you, and is also good for high blood pressure because remember, when you have high blood pressure, you have the hearts under resistance from pumping the blood, so creates the pressure.
- 10:11That's what we call high blood pressure.
- 10:13So when you take magnesium sulfate, it kind of helps the heart relax.
- 10:17A little bit so we can really send that, blood flow to your arteries and your vein.
- 10:22Magnesium sulfate is really good for relaxation for any spasming, any, tension, any pain and magnesium chloride is muscle for decreasing musculoskeletal issues.
- 10:35that's why I used to do a lot of IV vitamin therapy for fibromyalgia, cuz again, it's very painful and we'll mention magnesium for high blood pressure.
- 10:45Now let's talk about the different types of magnesium, because when I tell people, Hey, do you know that you can get off your medications by taking magnesium?
- 10:53look at me like, really?
- 10:54Constipation is not the only reason why people take magnesium.
- 10:58You can literally take magnesium for anxiety, depression, a D D A D, adhd, because that helps produce more neurotransmitters in the gut, It helps with mood disorders.
- 11:09So let's talk about how we can get some magnesium in our bodies and also the different types of magnesium for different purposes.
- 11:16You guys know I am big on green leafy vegetables.
- 11:21You cannot go warm with eating ke Swiss chart like a regular bcia, like all the greens has a lot of magnesium in it, Like you can do green smoothies, you can steam it, you can do so many things.
- 11:34So when I kind of pound green smoothies, green vegetables into my patients, because I'm trying to make sure they get enough magnesium, I ask that my patients eat avocado when avocado a day.
- 11:45At least three avocados per week because avocado has magnesium in it.
- 11:49If you can get some raw chocolate, like close to a hundred percent chocolate, like with no milk, no sugar in it, like water cacao powder or cacao, that also has a lot of magnesium in it.
- 12:01So again, not just the chocolate bar we have out there that has sugar and milk in it, like black will cacao chocolate, like wall, like you can taste the bitterness in your mouth.
- 12:12So that has a lot of magnesium.
- 12:14So these are the things you can do today.
- 12:16Really green lifted vegetables, all of them.
- 12:18Avocados and avocado.
- 12:20They will give you magnesium.
- 12:21If you are into chocolate, you, love, like, you know, you can muster the taste of raw cow.
- 12:28You can also get magnesium.
- 12:29you can get Magnesium from nuts as well.
- 12:31You can get magnesium from seaweed, but these things are pretty inflammatory.
- 12:36If you were ask me, pretty salty, you can get magnesium from wild cup fish, you get mag, you can get magnesium from pumpkin seeds.
- 12:44some coffee might have magnesium.
- 12:46Again, these are okay, but I'm trying to give you the ones that are not going to cause inflammation where you can actually see a benefit from eating it, which is your green leaf, the vegetables.
- 12:56You know, like bus sprout if you don't have any like gas.
- 12:59If it doesn't cause gas and bloat, you can eat that.
- 13:02fish avocado, Like, and then the chocolate, Epsom salt is really good for, when it comes to musculoskeletal, because again, that magnesium is going into your skin, it's going into your muscles, it's gonna relax it a little bit.
- 13:15But as we know, many of us are busy.
- 13:17We might not be able to do Epsom salts every night when we feel that pain coming on or when we are experiencing the pain.
- 13:24So that's why it's really good to really see if you can optimize your meals, your food, so you don't have to really depend on the sulfate component mechanisms, sulfate component from the Epsom salt.
- 13:35So magnesium, different types of magnesium.
- 13:39The first one we're gonna talk about is magnesium marlet.
- 13:42Magnesium marlet is good for energy production.
- 13:45If you're looking to boost your energy, get a product that has magnesium marlet in it.
- 13:51So what I have to tell you when it comes to dosing it, it has to be dosed appropriately for you to really see the difference in it.
- 13:57Cuz I will tell patients to go get a product that has this and that in it, but they don't feel a thing because they don't know how to dose it.
- 14:04Because when we have a supplement out there in the world, that supplement is being.
- 14:09Dosed for the general public because we don't want to dose it too much for people to react to it.
- 14:16So the company's always gonna give you the less amount of dosage, Like it's not, the dosage is not gonna be severe.
- 14:21So you have to really see what works for you and then increase, decrease, and so that you can really feel the effect.
- 14:28So magnesium marlet is for energy.
- 14:30Magnesium glycinate is also for digestive system, so a lot of people with gas bloat, acid reflux, with, you know, ulcers will do a glutamine with magnesium glycinate in it because the glycine is a protein.
- 14:46Where that's gonna help here the lining of your stomach.
- 14:49So magnesium glycinate is really good for gut magnesium.
- 14:53L Tate is also good for the brain.
- 14:56So if you want to really tackle your A D D H D D or your depression, your anxiety mood overall, you gotta take mechanism LT on eight.
- 15:07LT unit is a protein, So you have magnesium component to it that's gonna help create more.
- 15:12It's gonna help more with brain function, cognitive performance.
- 15:16It's gonna help with learning and memory.
- 15:18It's also gonna help create more of the neurotransmitters that we need for our brain to really work, appropriately.
- 15:25Now, magnesium, question Magnesium, magnesium oxide, as I mentioned, is really good for bowels.
- 15:32Again, that's a long slow releasing magnesium, so it doesn't really have a lot of side effects.
- 15:37You'll feel the cramping, the pulling or the collection of the stools is gonna really it.
- 15:42You're gonna take it, you're gonna wake up in the morning and you're gonna feel great.
- 15:45Magnesium torin Lac Toine is good for the heart.
- 15:49So we take magnesium torin aid for high blood pressure for arrhythmias.
- 15:54let me see.
- 15:54Did I forget one?
- 15:55I think I have all the magnesium.
- 15:58Now I'm a big believer we should be doing, if you, the route is important, if you can minimize the pill form.
- 16:06So you can do powder as long as the, there's no sugar in the powder, There's no binders and fillers.
- 16:12Then you can put that in your smoothies, in your shake.
- 16:14And you're gonna get a higher dose of the magnesium, like it's gonna absorb better.
- 16:19Of course, IV vitamin, like intravenously is the most effective way of getting magnesium where you can feel the effect right away.
- 16:26So that's why in our drop when we do IV vitamin therapy for our patients and they're complaining of pain.
- 16:32Whatever the brain blood pressure, so on and so forth.
- 16:35We increase the dosage of the magnesium and then they can feel the effect of it, like right away because they are getting a hundred percent of the magnesium straight to the cells, straight to where it needs to be, so they don't have to suffer anymore.
- 16:49of course you can take the pill, you can take a lot of the pill.
- 16:52Again, you have to really find what's worked for you so you can dose it so you can really see results.
- 16:56So that's what I have for you guys today on magnesium.
- 17:00I don't think people should really focus on calcium because calcium can literally put you at risk for cancer of calcification.
- 17:07A lot of diseases out there like a osteoarthritis, like mouth disease, dental issues, it's calcification, atherosclerosis plaque in the auto with calcification.
- 17:17So I tell my patients, why don't you focus on magnesium more so than calcium?
- 17:21Like, we don't need to take calcium.
- 17:22Unless your blood test is showing that signs and deficiency in calcium.
- 17:27I don't think anybody should be taking calcium because calcium doesn't really go into your bone.
- 17:31It goes into your tissue putting you at risk for more inflammation over time as you are ingesting this calcium.
- 17:39So I don't, I take my patients off.
- 17:41Calcium.
- 17:42We promote More so magnesium because that's what a lot of us need to relieve.
- 17:46symptoms of depression for brain, for sleep, for elimination.
- 17:51For, even for blood sugar to stabilize your corsol, which is stress hormones.
- 17:56you also need magnesium for detoxification as well.
- 18:00Like a lot of great detox product will have magnesium in it.
- 18:03I mean, again, magnesium is responsible for over 300 physiological processes in the body.
- 18:09So you see how important it is.
- 18:11if you're not into supplementation, just eat the greens, eat your avocado.
- 18:16Like find the food.
- 18:17Like you can literally Google food, high magnesium and then you get a laundry list of all the food and you eat those food, but you have to eat them in abundance.
- 18:25You have to really get the daily, recommended value, for you to really get that magnesium into your body.
- 18:31I think I covered everything when it comes to magnesium, anxiety, stress, muscle spas and muscle cramping.
- 18:36Sleep.
- 18:37Energy, headaches, migraine, arrhythmias, high blood pressure.
- 18:41So there's a lot.
- 18:42Fibromyalgia, there's a lot of condition you can use mechanism for.
- 18:46Don't forget to share, subscribe, and if comment if you have any questions or you want me to discuss anything else wondering about a particular topic or subject, or product, or conditions or disease, feel free to send it my way.
