Join Kim every morning from one of her favorite happy places,
• 0:21
her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
• 0:28
Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
• 0:30
coop. When's the last time that you
• 0:33
used the phrase? Well, I'll do that when,
• 0:37
whatever that may be. You know, we, we are constant.
• 0:41
We can substitute any word in there.
• 0:42
But we're constantly saying, well, I'll get to that when or
• 0:45
I'll do that when. And we put things off and we
• 0:49
wait. It's like, oh, I'll get a puppy
• 0:51
when we do this. Or I will, you know, sit down
• 0:55
and take the time to read a book when I finished.
• 0:58
Da da, da da da, whatever. You want to slot in there.
• 1:02
I think it's become too commonplace for us to constantly
• 1:07
be saying to ourselves, well, I'm going to just put it till
• 1:10
here or I'll do it there or I'll take the vacation when this
• 1:14
happens. Now sometimes you have to do
• 1:16
that jokingly. I say this because my son just
• 1:18
said, oh, he wants to go on this trip and he and my son is not a
• 1:22
fantastically well versed eater. He very much likes his simple
• 1:28
food. Not that I feed him like bad
• 1:30
food at all, but he is one of these kids that likes cheese and
• 1:34
meat. He just does not love
• 1:36
vegetables. I mean, me getting a banana into
• 1:38
him is a big deal and I have to push for it every day.
• 1:42
He's just never been that guy, and I know he'll eventually be
• 1:45
that guy. So I'm patient because everybody
• 1:48
turns around at some point. I've only met one person in my
• 1:51
life who was still a grown adult man and could only eat, you
• 1:55
know, macaroni and cheese with hot dogs in it.
• 1:58
And that was interesting. But that's another story.
• 2:02
So he asked me if we could go on vacation.
• 2:06
And I said, well, I can't take you to that particular place
• 2:08
that you want to go on vacation because you don't eat variety of
• 2:13
foods. And when we get over there,
• 2:15
they're going to have foods that you don't recognize.
• 2:17
So you're going to have to eat other foods so we can go on that
• 2:21
vacation when. And then, you know, you decide
• 2:24
to eat. And I heard myself saying it and
• 2:26
I was like, wow, how many times do we do that?
• 2:28
And it's legitimate and how many times do we do it that it's just
• 2:32
a completely, you know, ridiculous way to hold ourselves
• 2:36
off. We have to realize that when we
• 2:38
pull that card and we start to talk about it, we have to be
• 2:41
careful because most of the time it's not a legitimate excuse.
• 2:47
  It's not something that's real. It's a made-up excuse that just
• 2:51
says well you know, I I've, I've put myself into this box that is
• 2:58
holding me back. For instance, I think it's like
• 3:01
I'll be happy when I get this done, that phrase, Oh my God.
• 3:04
I can't tell you how much I hear that come out of people's
• 3:07
mouths. I hear it when I'm not even
• 3:10
coaching. I can hear it when I'm.
• 3:12
I heard it the other day was I'm in the store I was shopping with
• 3:15
for stuff for my son, for him to go camping and all of a sudden I
• 3:20
heard this woman say, well I'll be happy when you're done to the
• 3:23
her, her husband partner, whatever he was.
• 3:26
And I thought to myself, well, this is such a chronic problem.
• 3:30
It's everywhere. We tell ourselves that, we tell
• 3:33
other people that. And there's no way to win around
• 3:36
those comments. If you're, if you're saying I'm
• 3:38
going to delay my happiness until this takes place or I'm
• 3:43
going to delay this trip or whatever it might be until this.
• 3:48
So you have to decide first of all, is it legitimate?
• 3:53
In my case, I stand by it. It was legitimate, but I've done
• 3:56
it myself a million times where it's not legitimate.
• 3:58
I'll be happy when I get this garden finished.
• 4:00
I'll be happy when these grow this way.
• 4:02
I'll be happy when I have this, you know, thing done in my
• 4:06
chicken coop that I want to do. But the truth is, I can be happy
• 4:10
anyway. The truth is I don't have to
• 4:12
wait for any of that to happen. I can just choose happiness.
• 4:15
And I I I say this often and I want to drill this into you
• 4:19
guys. You don't have to be happy when
• 4:24
you can be happy anyway. Despite everything that's going
• 4:28
on, you can be happy. I have met many, many, many,
• 4:31
many people in my life, very blessed through all my work at
• 4:35
Tony Robbins to meet many people who had challenges that some of
• 4:38
us will never, ever face, most of us will never ever face.
• 4:42
And those people were happy anyway.
• 4:45
They just chose joy. They chose happiness.
• 4:47
They chose love. They chose all these awesome
• 4:50
ways to be, and they certainly had no reason to.
• 4:53
They could have just stayed the way that they were.
• 4:55
They could have stayed the way that they were miserable and you
• 5:01
know, down on themselves, down on life.
• 5:03
But you know what? They didn't.
• 5:04
What they did was they said I'm just going to be happy and I'll
• 5:07
deal with all this crap anyway. And for me, it was such a great
• 5:12
lesson and reminder that we have to choose it.
• 5:16
We must choose it. We must choose to find the joy.
• 5:20
We must choose to do the things that are difficult to do, which
• 5:24
is choosing that in spite of everything else and not saying
• 5:28
I'm going to delay it until this happens.
• 5:32
Why would we delay happiness? Why would we delay joy?
• 5:35
Why would we put a delay on anything wonderful in our life?
• 5:38
Why not just go ahead and say, you know what, I'm just going to
• 5:42
do it. I'm just going to have it.
• 5:44
I'm going to put it out there for myself because I know how
• 5:46
  important it is. I think it's a it's a worthwhile
• 5:50
endeavour to push yourself and say no, I'm not going to
• 5:55
postpone anything anymore that causes me to not find what I'm
• 6:00
looking for. I'm going to go out there and
• 6:02
I'm going to push myself. Whether it's happiness or joy
• 6:04
or, you know, love or saying, hey, I've always wanted to jump
• 6:09
in and do this. I've always wanted to try it.
• 6:11
If there's something that you've always wanted to try to do, like
• 6:13
play the guitar, oh, I'll do that when I retire.
• 6:15
Trust me, you don't want to wait because you don't know if you'll
• 6:18
ever have the gift of retirement.
• 6:19
You don't know if you'll ever have the the gift of the next
• 6:22
phase because life is full of uncertainties.
• 6:25
So why wait? Why postpone things?
• 6:27
Why not just push yourself to the place of saying, you know,
• 6:31
whether it's the small things or the big things?
• 6:33
I'm going to ask myself, why am I postponing this?
• 6:37
Is it legitimate or not? Stop postponing and find it.
• 6:41
Put yourself out there because I promise you, you don't want to
• 6:44
be the person who says at the end of their life.
• 6:46
I wish I had because that sucks. All right, my friends, I will
• 6:50
see you tomorrow. Take care and have a very
• 6:53
  blessed day. Bye.
