- 0:00[SPEAKER_03]: You are listening to Do Valley Deep Divers with Eric Trickle and Lance Sanderson Well, comes out of the hands of Newton It's gone the ground picked up by T.J. Gordon at the 4-yard line Vaughn Miller did it again on over time media Welcome into another episode of the historical film Is that an urge?
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right, excuse me, no valley deep divers presented my price thing
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: I am a host, Eric Trickle, and joining me as always is Lance Anderson.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: Lance, it's been a week, and I got to say it has been a week.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: I've been very busy this week, and I am very tired.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: This morning was the first broadcast for breakfast show that I've got him like five weeks.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh boy.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: So getting up early was not fun, and I am very tired by how are you doing, man.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: Well, to first and foremost, the show is starting off with a bang, man, this is absolutely entertaining, riveting, podcasting that we're doing here for everybody.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: So that's fun.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're not doing devout-like deep divers.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's the trickles on that.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: This reminds me of the very first show that we did.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: You remember that open that we did on that?
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Or was like, you were starting the good morning evening or night everybody in Barco's country of welcoming, I was like, Eric, you're doing the wrong show dude.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, then I started this over, like, it's been, it's been
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: Regardless, doing good.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's been hot, man.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: It was hot today.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: We cracked into the 90s and like I know that doesn't sound like super super hot, but since it's been in the 70s for the majority of the last like three weeks, all of a sudden it hit a 90 degree day was rather sweltering, but other than that, doing good.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: Getting really, really busy at work days are getting long 13 hour days every day this week except for today, which I could have worked 13 today, but how to get ready for the show.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: Outside of that, just enjoy what's going to be a rather long part of the offseason where we don't really have a whole lot going on.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about a 53-man roster projection buddy.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: No idea where the top would be.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, how about this?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just then I just then a 50-man roster projection.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: You guys go over it.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, okay, so it's good.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Um, gives me a chance to poke some holes at Chad, uh, which I don't get a do very often.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking forward to it before we get into that.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say hello to some people in the chat and Blacks come in.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm here to party as always.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: Hope you're having a wonderful Friday evening.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Thought us or fellow, broadcast country.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Hello to you.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Ernie Mays, go broadcast country.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Only things broadcast big, not 31 team small.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: We go 15 and two and beyond.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Let's sure hope so.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: The Ron coming in saying good evening Eric and Lance on the DevVality divers.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: It will switch over from there we go.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Good evening to you, Ron, one of our many members on my on the my little YouTube account max coming in evening jense.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a minute.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: It has been a while good to see you back in here.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: Rock coming in is a time to give up on true Sanders.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: We will definitely get it with that conversation.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, well, Chad has your standards making this roster.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I've very, very asked what kind of about it.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Chase, one was saying, happening to have some new content to discuss.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: Let's freaking go.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's definitely new.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's definitely interesting.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll get into that.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: Especially with some of the other stuff that's going on.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Vegas James, when does camp start?
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know when camp starts off top of your head?
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's the 24th.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let me take a look at that.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: Alrighty, well, that's fun.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: So training camp for the Broncos starts.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: It says here that
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos rookie class reporting on Wednesday, July 16th, and the veterans are going to report on July 22nd.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: So that means somewhere around the 24th, I believe, is when, is when training camps should officially get going.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be kind of interesting with the Jonathan Cooper situation here, as Jason Bonnet just jumps in.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: July 22nd was the original Jonathan Cooper trial date,
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting developments.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like the, uh, that, that, um, district attorney is condensed a lot of those charges against Jonathan Cooper and they're going to push that trial day back.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know the exact start date on that, but we'll see kind of what that looks like here in the next handful of days.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so our topic for the show tonight is Chad Jensen just released a, um, 53-man roster prediction over on milehighhuttle.com.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: And Eric and I were going to go through that.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully Eric can jump back in here to the stream here in just a couple of minutes, but uh, I don't typically do very well on solo shows.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: So guys, just bear with me.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: I know I sound a little bit nervous right now, and I really am.
- 4:38[UNKNOWN]: Like,
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: My heart gets pounding and it's really not a whole lot of fun for me, but just bear with me guys to do apologize.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Make sure you guys drop me a bunch of questions or comments or something like that so we can kind of have a conversation back and forth for the rest of the show here, but to start things off.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Chad breaking everything down.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously three quarterbacks on the roster here.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to start with Bonax.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously Broncos franchise quarterback will see what it looks like with him coming off of that ankle injury.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully he's ready to go for training camp.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously he was there in.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: in many camp the other day looked really well from what I understand moving around a little bit looked like there was a little bit of a limp according to Nate Craigman from altitude sports radio 92.5 so we'll see what that kind of looks like the rapport with him and Jalen Wattel look to be okay from just the little bit that they got to do.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Bow was he did four snaps and seven on
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: kind of interesting Todd jumping in here lands breathe man we're all rooting for you'll be great thanks Todd I appreciate it say hi here really fast a mic you got Todd in here as well mic S chase well and they're saying that eras frozen rock what's going on guys thanks you all for joining me and again just just bear with me guys as I try to catch my bearings here but back to the 53-man roster projection here from Chad he's got bone-nix gerits to them and Sam Elinger
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: making the roster here.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of an interesting one for me with the with the rules on on quarterback's making the 53-man roster.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: You can carry a third quarterback on the 53-man roster, but he doesn't have to make like be an active player on game day.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't count for that, because you can still have that emergency third quarterback in case your starter goes down and case your backup quarterback goes down.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: So in that case, let's say both has another
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: You still have that third backup quarterback in Sam Linger to be able to be on the 53-man roster, but not count against your game day inactive.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: So that's going to be kind of an interesting to me.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: I also think that like honestly, I wouldn't carry a third quarterback on the 53-man roster to start this season.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: I would see if you couldn't sneak Linger.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: through to the practice squad and then activate him on game day because you can still kind of utilize that last spot on the 53 man roster to add another linebacker, maybe add another edge defender, another cornerback and try to, you know, just balance out the rest of the roster that way and bolster some of the depth here.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: So to get three quarterbacks on this roster for Chad, interesting way of going about things here.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: going down to the running back position.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the Broncos brought back JK Dobbins two years.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it's $16 million contract in free agency.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: It was playing really, really well last season.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, before he got hurt in week 10 against the Raiders with that Liz Frank injury, he was, I believe,
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: fifth in rushing yards he had 750 total rushing yards through the first 10 games of the season which was a very I mean that's that's highly productive guys and going throughout JK Dobbins' career he is one of three running backs and now that this is a
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: There's a there's a qualifier in here.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not exactly sure how many carries it is.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: But there are three running backs in NFL history that have a yard per carry average over 5.0 and those three players are Jim Brown legendary Hall of Fame running back and I believe it's.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: Jamal Charles former Denver Bronco, former Kansas City Chief, one of the better, more explosive running backs in NFL history.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: So to have a guy like Dobbins who, despite all the injury concerns, still a wildly, wildly productive player when he is healthy.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: And it sucks for a player like him because
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: He is very, very good, no, like he's good on third down.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's good in past protection.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's very well liked in the locker room.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like players really like flock to him.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: And they, like, they want him to be around.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a high quality locker room presence.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: And as a veteran, you want to have that, especially given the youth in this room.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, with Chad's 53 man roster projection here, he's got not only J.K. Dobbins, he got RJ Harvey, Ricky Forethrow
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: a film breakdown of Jonah Coleman shortly after the draft at milehighhotel.com, go into the film room section on milehighhotel.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: You guys can always go and check that out.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm really excited about Jonah Coleman and this offense.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: I really think that he's going to be a great spell back for JK Dobbins.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: I got hit the rum between the tackles in between the 20s.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: And when, you know, the fields
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: slipping tackles in just gaining extra yards after contact like Jonah Coleman does a really good job of that he's very very difficult to bring down.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it's he's he's he's fun to watch.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the lateral quickness and the lateral agility that Jonah Coleman brings to the game.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: is very underrated.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: He may not be the most explosive player in terms of, you know, running down the football field and on breakaway runs and stuff like that.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: But he is just one of a more dynamic in terms of being able to consistently gain three, four, and five yards per carry.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to go down on first contact.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to go down behind the
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: puts the football on the ground.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he only has one fumble in his entire collegiate career or at least over the last three seasons of his collegiate career.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Rarely rarely puts the football on the ground.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Another high quality, high character player, a guy that just graduated from the University of Washington.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: He missed a part of mini camp a couple of weeks ago where he was actually at graduation in Seattle at the University of Washington.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: So congratulations to
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: but well-spoken, very well-liked.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's a very calm and mild mannered player.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: It does a really good job in terms of, like I said, just maintaining balance, contact balance.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: good out of the backfield shows underrated hands out of the backfield as receiver.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: So to pair him with JK dobbins is going to be really nice.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: Then as things get closer towards the end zone, everybody knows about RJ Harvey and his ability to just have that nose for the end zone.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Get the score touchdowns.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he had seven rushing touchdowns and four receiving touchdowns last season.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: 11 total like a high quality player.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: it's going to suck to see him lose a little bit of carries, but I think that for a player of his particular skill set, the way that he is so shifty and he does have that straight line speed, that burst, he's lacking vision right now.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that a big thing with him, it's not necessarily like he doesn't see it correctly.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's still happening a little bit too fast for him, because if you guys remember,
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: going into the draft process, RJ Harvey was actually a quarterback going coming out of high school.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: He transferred to the running back position, shortly in his collegiate career at UCF, and then became a very dynamic player with the football in his hands.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's small, he's short, he's shifty.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that he's like tiny, dainty, like a Darren Sprouls type, where he's like five foot six, a hundred and eighty five pounds.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, he's five, eight, two, five.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: So he's got some thickness to him.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's also pretty difficult to bring down because he's so slickery, so sudden like that first step burst that he has through the hole is really fun to watch.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: So to get him and Jonah Coleman and JK Dobbins, they all kind of meld really well together the round out this room and then adding Jelil McLaughlin to the room that that helps out a lot.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: So that that running back room, I think he's probably one of the better rooms and especially if JK Dobbins can stay healthy.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: like to me, this running back room could be one of the better running back rooms as a whole.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's no really true high end talent.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that I just said that, you know, J.K. Dobbins, and how good he is consistently.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: If he wasn't injured all the time, he would be a top-five back.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: He has that kind of ability.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: The injury concerns are definitely always there with him.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: But to have him and Jonah Coleman, RJ Harvey, Jaleel McGloff, and you've got enough variety in your skill sets and some dynamic playmaking ability on the back end of it that you can really see this running back room grow to be one of the better units in the league this year.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: Chase Weller, jumping back in here, really fast.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: We want to grab this comment.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: One of our wonderful members over on the YouTube page,
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: Chase jump in and say, how did RJ look in past pro later in the season?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a good question because younger running back specifically guys like Harvey, he was more utilized out of the backfield as a receiver than he was behind the line of Scrimmage in past protection.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: And when he did have those opportunities, it wasn't necessarily great.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like he'll stand in there and get blasted in the chops, but there's footwork and play strength issues there that he really has to work on.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, like it's not necessarily his role, he's not going to be that type of a player.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: When it is third down and he's on the field, he's probably going to be out in the route and going to be an added player in the receiving game more than being in pass protection.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not worried about RJ drawing in that particular aspect.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: It might show a tell for the Broncos offense if that's how it's going to be.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: But for the most part, I think RJ is going to be that third down back, a guy that's kind of working closer towards the end zone in those red zone packages,
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Peyton and Davis Webb can kind of just get creative more or less if that makes sense to where like And he's not going to be the bell cow between the between the 20s between the tackles type of player and they're going to more accentuate his skill set and just try to You lies him as a receiver as we got Chad Jets and jump it in here Chad my friend.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: What's going on buddy?
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well, so never fear.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_02]: Dad, Dad is here to save the day.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: I just get it.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: I heard about Eric's computer problems.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: And I was just chilling at my desk.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm like, you know what, I'm going to jump on, dude.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: So hope I'm not interrupted to potent a train of thought, brother.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: No, we were just talking about this, this Deborah Broncos running back room coming to the season.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you for jumping on because I had to get my bearings up out.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: I don't do very well doing one on one shows, but the more I got going about it, it was starting to come back around.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, no, we're doing good.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was just breaking down a little bit of Jonah Coleman and J.K. Dobbins, we were talking about RJ Harvey and what he looks like and passed for a later in the season.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: I want your take on this buddy.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, past pro look dude, like I wasn't there.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: You weren't there.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: Word on the street though is that RJ's looking good.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: Same with JK.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Coleman, that's one of his calling cards, right?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: You're the draft guy.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: You had that awesome film breakdown, although I don't recall that your film breakdown on Coleman had any past pro.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, there was in it did it.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there was four reps out of the Rutgers game was the very last clip that I did was four different past pro reps from the Rutgers game.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it was it's fantastic guys go like I said earlier in the show, go to my Ohio, you can find the film room section up at the top of the page.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: I believe go check that out like I spent a lot of time on that one.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it was really fun to go back and watch a lot of that tape from Jonah Coleman and just to see what he does like it passed protection.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: He was the best pass protecting back in the class in my opinion.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's why he was running back three from, or running back two for me in that class.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a great breakdown.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: That break down was killer.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: So was the tylerone.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't break down.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I need to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'll do that this weekend if I get the opportunity to.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm now seeing the question though, was not about, was not about, uh, mini-camp, it was about the season.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, RJ as a past pro guy, you know, that's something he's still kind of ripening on the vine, but, uh, thank goodness, you know, one of the things that has jumped out to me, Lance, about mini-camp is,
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: I've viewed Jonah Coleman as like kind of high level insurance policy for JK Dobbins, but dude like he's he looks like he's RB1 ready like if the bro he's looks like more than a insurance policy like the Broncos really needed him right now or shoot dude when surprisingly feed leapfrogs RJ Harvey in terms of
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: ball-carrying responsibility, like RJ is still going to be that joker, that past catching guy out of the backfield, but dude, don't a comment.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: We can't get too far ahead of ourselves, because again, no contact.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: The format of many camp is what it is, but boy, boy, he's an exciting young guy.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think the big thing and I was kind of hitting on this before you jumped on here is that the similarity in the skill sets of Jonah Coleman and JK Dobbins are like you don't necessarily have to rely on one of those guys to really be the true bell-cow player.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: And with the injury concerns that you have with Dobbins, obviously last year that the list Frank Andrew, the mid-foot spring that he suffered in week 10.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: At the time he was, he was number five I believe in rushing yards in the NFL.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: He had over 750 yards in the first 10 games.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's a highly productive player, I mentioned over the course of his career, his yards per carry average is 5.2.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's only two other players in NFL history that have 5 yards per carry average, like in all of NFL history, it's Jim Brown and Jamal Charles, like you've got a highly productive player here.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, you've got to work, like the injury concerns are so drastic there.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: And with the with the guy like Jonah Coleman working between the tackles his ability to jump cut and maintain that contact balance, he's consistently ripping off four or five six yards per carry every single time he touches the football any doesn't put the football on the ground.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: So when you have two players that can do a lot of the same things, it takes to the wear and tear away from both those guys and we can also boost this running game in a dramatic fashion.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: no doubt about it dude.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just seeing some of these questions here from Todd, Austin Dorf.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if we got this or not Todd, where to go?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: Lance, I don't know your thoughts on this.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: with the Bobby Wagner guys, it's not gonna happen, but although here's the thing, dude, Bobby Wagner at his age, like if you look at what he did last season, well, first of all, before what he did last season Lance, he was on, I don't have it right up in front of me, but the last time I looked at it off the top of my head, was it a 10 or 11 straight years of making the probal,
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't make it last year, but if you look at his numbers, you go, why the heck didn't he make it last year?
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: Still available.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: If the Broncos didn't already have their two starters pretty much written in Sharpie, he would make a lot of sense to come in as like a one year band aid guy, but I just don't see.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see it happening, but Vaughn Miller, it's still kind of out there.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: Lance, even more so as Eric gets queued back up because of this Jonathan Cooper stuff.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to kind of stay away from the Cooper situation and obviously like the the big news here is that the original.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now make no mistake.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have to talk about.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: Our gations.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: Just the rosterium implications.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's difficult because this does kind of have to go into this legal allegations here and it or implications because Jonathan Cooper with what is currently alleged against him, Von Miller has something like that in his past two guys.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like, let's not forget about that.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's been a while ago for sure.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: Von Miller has a domestic violence thing on his head too.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: So you're you're talking about
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: bringing in a player that has already had that on his head and adding him to a room worth a player that has something like that that you're trying to maybe potentially move on from.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, does that actually make sense?
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's another pin in that cushion that you kind of have to attack the whole thing.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think that quite honestly with what it sounds like, listening to Jeff Legwood the other day from ESPN, talking about Q Robinson being one of the more
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, most improved players in mini camp from what he's seen over the course of the trying the mini camp to Robinson there's a player that wants that they could potentially move up there Jonah Ellis another player that they seem to be really, really high on and has shown really well in mini camp.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: So why go to an aging veteran in Vaughn Miller.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nine sacks last season, but he also has leadership issues.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's off the field issues.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: How does he fit in the room?
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like it just doesn't make sense to me on that aspect.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Eric's back.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: You good Eric.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hopefully, I just can't open our lads.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm live apparently.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I'll hang out in the background for a minute.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you're okay.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see everybody.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: Much love and respect.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: Have a good show.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, Chad.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: So, sorry about that.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_00]: Apparently, I went to open our lads.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I just completely frozen my computer.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I had to restart it.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: Where were we at with the conversation?
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so I made it through the running back position, Chad jumped in and we kind of got lost in the comment section here for a minute.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: We were talking about RJ Harvey and how we looked in past protection later in the season.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: I want your thoughts on this one.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: I said it wasn't a lot when he did have the opportunity to do it.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't very much and this probably not something he's going to be doing for the most part.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: This next season at all early on this season.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: It looked like he had no place back there in past protection by the end of the season.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, all right, like it's serviceable.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, still something that you want to upgrade, so something that you want a little bit better from, but it was, it was enough, uh, enough to get by.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: So he did show those kinds of improvements here.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so we're on, why does he reverse?
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: We just, we just got done breaking down the running back room.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, we should be on why does he reverse here?
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so yeah, why do you see where we have quote and son or Chad has quote and son Jalen Waddle of Troy Frank and Marvin Mims Pat Bryant and Lance, I don't know about you.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see any changes with that, barring one of them possibly getting traded.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's the only thing that I think shakes up this why do you see a room?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think a team came Butler, Little Jordan Humphrey, they're competing for a practice squad spot, similar to what they've done with Little Jordan Humphrey before, you know, put them on the practice
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: is eligibility.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, his eligibility of being called up.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why eligibility just completely put my mind there.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: And then after that point, you know, when injuries start to happen, then you bring them up to the active roster and go from their work in the math.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's the same path there.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's two wide receivers that could possibly be traded, but they're both in that category of, I'll believe it when I see it.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that both of them would be a team having to get a little bit desperate giving a big offer for them.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: Similarly to what the what happened with the Saints last year in Devon Bayley was they got desperate and they made that big offer for them.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think the one player that I'm really kind of keeping my eyes on and we talked about him a little bit last week and that I closed the show early because Eric, you had some issues and I freaked out again.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: But hey, look, I made it through this time.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're good.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, we were talking about Marvin Mims last week and like the potential of him getting a contract extension.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's the one that really I have my eyes on in terms of the Broncos, maybe potentially trading in this offseason.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: They brought in Sean Fresh.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: I believe his name is a cornerback.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: They signed him from the UFL.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: I believe the St. Louis Battlehox or whatever it was.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's a cornerback, not a white receiver.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: But he led the UFL in put return yardage average, like over 10 yards per put return.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's Mims' role, specifically on the team.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's the leading pot return.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's a gadget player, but you bring in a jail in water who can do a lot of those things.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: You saw Detroit Franklin who can still take the top off the field vertically if you need him to.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: Where does Mims exactly fit on this roster?
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: So to me, if you're gonna move on from anybody, it would be Mims in that particular aspect, which would then bring me to believe that like, little Jordan Humphrey would be the guy that you would bring on to fill that spot.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't agree because the corner back they brought in for he did well in the UFL's returner.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's the UFL.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the NFL.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: And you have Marvin Mims in all pro returner, both kick returner and butt returner.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, again, I don't think anybody gets traded, but I think if you're looking at one, I think it's quite Franklin that's possible as we have because guess what?
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: Dale and Wattled does everything that Troy Franklin does significantly better.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: You're not on.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: Dale and Wattled at least gives you more effort as a blocker, which you don't get out of memes or Franklin.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: So what does Franklin bring to this offense that you don't get from somebody else the answer that is nothing is work on the screen game guess what you can use one of the other receivers and and that aspect of it is the deep all ability guess what Marvin mames brings that as well.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, jlum model brings that like there's just nothing that choice Franklin brings at a level that you don't but again I don't think that they trade anybody I think ultimately they write it through with these guys and sticking through.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now, quickly, I want to go back to why I received real quick, because there's this comment here from Bobby.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: Troy is the only one with size and speed.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone else has one or the other.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, Troy Franklin is a 170 pound wide receiver.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: Hunter, sorry, he bulked up these 180 pounds.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's not size.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's tall, but he's linky and drops.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: Drops are the big issue here there, which is also why again, I could see Denver being willing to move on from him because what was one of the big things Sean Paine talked about after the season ended.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: Drops, they fired the wide receiver coach over drops.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: Troy Franklin has a drop issue going back to college, so it's not just an issue with the coaches.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I don't think it happens, especially after seeing what happened in the playoffs where injuries at Widersever, they got down both Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin got hurt in that playoff game.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_00]: And so you're stuck with only three receivers really.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see them doing it.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying he's the one that makes them a sense because he had a good year last year being forced to be the wide receiver to but drops were still an issue and they want to clean up those drops and they've been very clear about wanting to fix the drops and having such issues with drops.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and going back to something you had mentioned just a little bit ago.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't disagree with you.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that either one of them necessarily gets moved.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think that Mims would probably bring you more of a return just because he does add that special teams versatility Franklin doesn't bring you special teams versatility at all.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't play any special teams like that.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: That to me is another big red flag for for Troy Franklin.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: at least if nothing else Marvin Mims has the pot return ability like he can still go and do something like that for you and that little Jordan Humphrey if you're going to move on from anybody he's a big body player quality blocker Sean Peyton knows him he's a reliable player for the most part other than that one crucial drop that he had in the AFG in the game against the bills in the playoffs like for the most part pretty reliable football player and I
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying that they're going to get traded, I just, I think to me it makes more sense to move on from, but the one that does get moved is MIMS just because I added value.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what are you going to get for Franklin, a seventh round, a big flop?
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: If that what are you going to I mean with memes what are you going to get for him for I mean as well I mean he's in all the corner who hasn't really cracked the offense and this is part of the reason why I think that memes could be available for trade as well with Denver is also on that last year of his deal so you've got now have to sign up to a new deal that's going to hurt that that's why I don't think either of them get moved.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: They both have their pros and they both have their cons when they come to getting trading and they'll join hungry nobody's trading for them the just wait if a team wants them to just wait for them to get cut if I happen to get.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: Um, uh, Jason Bonnie Franklin's the second best route run on the team behind only water.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: No, he's not.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's probably the order for the best.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Ryan Pat Bryant and I think what was that in our both better.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Troy Franklin improved last year from a rookie, but he still has a long ways to go with his route running and being more consistent there.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and now moving on to tight ends.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: Tighten this tough because you and I we've had this conversation before about Nate Adkins and his versatility, but they really do love Adam Prentiss as a fullback.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's a good chance he makes the roster at not at least he's making the practice squad and using his elevations.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: using his elevations up and go on from there similar to what we're just talking about with all Jordan Humphrey with that.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: But Chad has Adam Trottman, Evan Ingraham obviously, Justin Jolie and Nate Adkins.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, that's how I see the Titan room playing out.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that Caleb owner is, he looks great at rookie mini camp, but he's been hurt.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, things were quickly died down there.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_00]: And down in Bentley, second to last pick, I don't have high expectations for him this year.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm Lucas Coral, I'm just, I don't have a whole lot of high expectations for the side of the room.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: Something that I talked about a lot this or talked about with Nick this morning on Broncos for breakfast.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: So four tight ends.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's where they're at and I think it sees four tight ends barring in the injuries.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the one player to kind of keep an eye on here is actually Dalin Bentley and I understand, like you said, second to last pick in the draft.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Very highly productive in his last year at Utah, but still a very young player in terms of playing the tight end position.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: If I remember correctly, he was a wide receiver in high school.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: like shattered his leg.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: Still managed to go to Utah, played for three seasons was rarely, rarely ever used, especially not as a receiver, and that last year he had, I think like 57 catches or something like that, like a really good season at the tight end position, and that's like, you just don't necessarily know what he is.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: there's upside I think is the best way to put it and he has more upside to me in terms of like natural football ability then a guy like Caleb loaner does at least he knows how to block like
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, like that's it's that's the thing there.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's the size of the build the willingness I think is is there like he he wants to compete in that particular aspect.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not great, but that would be the guy to kind of watch out for.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you though, Eric.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also with Chad on this one.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: In my, my document here, I have Princess and Lil Jordan Humphrey as those last two players on the offense to potentially be, and it would be Sam Ellinger who I have off the roster.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: So instead of keeping three quarterbacks, it would be Princess or Lil Jordan Humphrey to round out that 25 on the offense.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I would say I also don't have to go out for making the roster.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's time and Denver's nearing an end.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's where Adam Prentice fills in.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: Not so much to Tedence.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Mile high 309, three coming in, Redbrook, the Clio Mac record for most first ones or something like that.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: He did and Red Murdoch's actual first name is Clio.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's a that's pretty cool thing.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: Clio Red Murdoch broke Clio Mac's record for that most first one was anything.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: offensive line.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see a lot of need talking about this.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: Chet has nine holes, powers, Wattonburg, Miners McClunchy.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, no surprises there.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: Cage Casey, he's the guy I've talked about, back up left side player.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: He was drafted and with him being drafted, he replaced Matt Pert, who was that guy for them, Alex Forsyth, your backup and cheer your player.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Alex Paltchewski, your backup right side player, then Frank Crumb, your backup swing tackle.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Only thing I can change possibly change here is if they decide they need to keep Nick Gargillio on the roster because he bounces back from the injury and does really well and they keep 10 offensive linemen that's the only change I can see coming to this map hurt would be one that I would potentially have on there as well and this he yeah so he doesn't have that would be the one guy that I would think is like another another tackle a guy that can play tackle you don't know with a with crumb being the swing tackle there you've got pouches you've got cage kc
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: having another player that you know could play tackle would be a guy that that I would add there, but I mean, you're you're good there with nine and most teams are going with nine.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's offensive linemen going into the season anyways to have a tenth pair it would be the guy, but again, it's bottom level of the roster there and he's probably not even going to get her jersey on Sundays.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: See, I don't I don't think I don't think it's paired.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like just because they've researched his contract, they made it a little bit easier for them to move on.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: on from him.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: And again, he was their backup left side player and they replaced him with Cage Casey.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's not a backup swing tackle.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't play both sides of the line.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're keeping them, you're keeping them to be that other backup left side player.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why I think, Garjolio, who can be another backup interior player.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good point.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I just don't see that happening with Matt Pert.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: And we are trying to rush this a little bit because I, you know, the issues earlier and I don't know what all Lance and Chad talked about.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: Defensive Line, Chad has seven here.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Zach Allen, DG Jones, Malcolm Roach, Tyler on Yettum, A. O'Malley was Ricky Savion Jones and Matt Henningson due to some praise from Henningson over many camp practices.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: We had a couple, I think he had a pass, a badadown on Sam Linger and a couple other big plays.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not buying that hype.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: Matt Henningson for the last couple of years has always done well against the third, fourth string unit of the Office of Lyman.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: And he doesn't do better against, you know, the higher units.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this year's changed, but I'll believe we want to see it.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: I do think they keep 70 fence of Lyman that seems to be their number that they want.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: And Matt Henningson very much is in play for it, along with Jordan Jackson, who was that guy for the last year.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think 70 events of Lyman, I think the first six are deaf and are for sure.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: Question, is that seventh one?
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Matt Henningson?
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Jordan Jackson?
- 34:10[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Jordan Miller or one of the other guys?
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: To me it's I'm right there with you.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's Jordan Jackson.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's not great picking from the the bottom of the the barrel like that and I'm that sounds terrible to me to say it like that.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't necessarily need it as I can slide to those guys there they're just they're bottom level of the roster players and whether it's I think Jackson has a little bit more pastros upside but like a Henning sin quality run defender, but
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: What are you holding on to there?
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's not a lot to shine.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: I guess is the way to put it.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what does he really bring to this room, other than just a pure depth piece?
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: And again, we're talking about, is he even gonna get a jersey on Sundays?
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's the player you're talking about here.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: Your seventh defensive lineman is gonna be a game day and active more than likely.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't really matter at this point.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: And Jason Bonacumman and Hennessy also had a pick six.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_00]: He broke up three passes from the what I was just reading on it and then had the intersection for it, which again, fourth string offensive lineman.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's typically dominated those guys and practices and many can't even stuff like that.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's got to carry over.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's a good step on the lighter for him to take.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's can he take the rest of them, which he struggled to do previous years, which is why he's.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: not been on the roster.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's been a practice squad guy or last year in injury, landed him on injury reserve when it seemed like they were ready to par ways with him.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: Outside linebacker, this is where Chad has its surprise.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to get into the stuff with Jonathan Cooper too much, but he does.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: Chad does have Jonathan Cooper off the roster, due to the issues that he's having off the field.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: And so he has Nick Benito, Jonah Ellis, Don Drake or Don Drake, Tom and Q Robertson and then Drew Sanders.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: I have two disagreements here.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_00]: One of them
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: Barring depending on the legal stuff right now.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's not enough out there to take Cooper off the roster as well as some of the financial aspect of it makes it tough.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't see Drew Sanders making it.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think if they want a fifth outside if they want a fifth best rush out there.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_00]: Then I would bet Johnny Walker right now who they were really hyped on last year.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: We've seemed pleased to make the roster before he got hurt pretty early in camp to so I think Johnny Walker has a good chance for it.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: They were ready to move on from two Sanders last year before he got hurt.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think that this is the last edge effort to get something out of him.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: They're very ready to move on.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: And that's that's me is the big thing that like Sean Pate was asked about Drew Sanders the other day and I don't know exactly.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember exactly what was said, but it was a global ring review.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's he's showing a lot of improvement.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's doing well in the classroom and this that the biggest thing with Drew Sanders is a positionless athlete that doesn't understand football.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's that's all you need to know about true Sanders like even go back to the time And I was I was really high on Sanders coming out of Arkansas Go back and watch the edge tape they had Alabama It like there was a lot of flashes there.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: They moved him off the ball at Arkansas And he like it looks like he played with length and athleticism like he had every tool that you needed
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's just when you never realize your true home as a as a football player, especially on the defensive side of the football, when you never truly have a home, you never really Acclimate especially at the NFL level and true Sanders is one of those players.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the size he's got the length.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the requisite actual athleticism.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: He just never understood the assignment and he never picked it up and unfortunately for him, then he got hurt and that makes it even worse when you're hurt.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know it.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: You can't figure it out and you don't have a position.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to make a football team.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that's just point length period.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm not just a good one with you there, and so the linebacker chat only has four Alex senior single 10 Justin's or not obvious ones the backups are where the questions are then he has red Murdoch and Karina read.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think Karina read is probably that third linebacker they really like what he brought, especially in what he's shown in coverage that four spot where chat has red Murdoch that's all very much up for grabs.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have very expectations for level Bailey.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: But Jordan Turner is the one that seems to be quite impressive from some conversations I've had.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_00]: And it really does seem to be between Red Murdoch and Jordan Turner right now for that final spot, or maybe they keep both due to his the special teams' value Jordan Turner brought light last year.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very intrigued by watching this how it turns out, it is not a great linebacker room to put it simply.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: But it'll be interesting to see what they do, how it all works out.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, it is a very much a long process still to go with training camp and preseason action still left to your determine who makes it.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: Who doesn't?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this comment coming in here from Montana, 406.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that's what this is.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: Montana, um, we have a bottom chart inside linebacker room in the lead in the lead.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's all weekly on defense.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Between inside linebacker and safety, like it's quite honestly, and I was very vocal about the Broncos needing to address the safety position and they,
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they drafted Miles Scott in the sixth round.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: I believe it's what they use that selection on him.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: They brought in Tyson Anderson, a rotational depth piece and core special teams player, but in terms of like true reliable safety depth that you can trust the throughout on the field, it just doesn't exist right now.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: Devin Key, that's a quality player there.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: But like the inside lineback room, it's singleton's turn on and then a bunch of question marks.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: It just point blank period.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's all there is to it.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: And while I like read, I like LaVelle Bailey.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: I like Jordan turning what you showed.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm curious to do the the film breakdown on Red Murdoch.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be what I do here.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: And the next couple of weeks as well, you're going to try to work my way through those again.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: You get started on that.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: I do promise guys.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get to it.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited to see what Murdoch can do at the NFL level, but again, with Murdoch, the question here is coverage ability.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's a downhill sea ball chase ball linebacker.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: He has to understand the assignment in terms of moving away from the football on coverage.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: Do you put that as a Mr.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: Relevant and make him be a core backup player with a potential injury prone player,
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: cancer if we can't hold cancer against the guy, but a torn ACL and shoulder issues in his in his career.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: And Justin Sernaud who has shoulder and knee issues in his career, you're going to rely on a a damn year unwrapped and rookie free agent in Red Murdock who struggles moving backwards and coverage.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: That to me is a big red flag.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm with Montana on this, like it is probably the weakest link on our defense.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's probably I think it very much is.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, because you're one injury away from having basically undrafted for agents trying to fill in.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Jason Bonnie point saying, Sean, people in other sand is for sure being healthy.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not at this time of year.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: No, he's been healthy at this point before.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: But the anyways, the issue with him isn't necessarily his health.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it is a bear whipping.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest issue with him that I've heard is when it comes to on the field stuff is he just doesn't get it.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_00]: He's not picking up the defense.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's been here for what this is his third year, fourth year, fourth year, four will be his fourth year and he still doesn't fully know the defense.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: He still doesn't get it.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: He still doesn't understand where he's supposed to be.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that's part of the reason why they moved him to edge.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit simpler for him to play off the edge.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_00]: So last ditch effort to try to get something out of a guy that they drafted in the third round because teams very much.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_00]: Here about some cost fallacy, there's been a third round pick on them.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_00]: If they can get something out of him, they want to get something out of him.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: Third, a former third round picker guy that I mean, I believe it was Joe Moreno at the time, had a first round grade.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_01]: And Joe Moreno with the draft network, I believe at the time, like widely respected NFL draft mind, had a first round grade on him coming out of Arkansas.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not like, you know,
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have a lot of potential.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of people that did believe in Drew Sanders as a prospect and he never picked it up.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it's unfortunate.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, good players, good athletes like that.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: They litter and I feel graveyard.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: And he's just gonna be another bone on top of the heat.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: Happening.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, one thing that I had said to me about it is that he's a hammer trying to be used as a steak knife.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's just dead.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm going to go back.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: Pedgetan, Rally Moss, Jake Warnerville, and Juday Barrett, Chris Evans, Shane, Chad only has to five.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think there is a possibility for six here.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's been a lot of praise for Restealer, especially with what he's done on special teams.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing outside of you know, keep them keeping six corners the only other possible change here is a trade and I think a trade at corner back is more likely I wouldn't say over 50% like if I had to put it on zero to 100 I still wouldn't have it over 50%
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is far more likely at corner back than it is why receiver, but I think that I think we're probably looking more at a prior to the trade deadline type trade instead of prior to the season with Riley Moss looking at the odd men out.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: I do want to point out and I pointed out this morning when Vanchos have met and talked with him just the other day.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_00]: What did he talk about today, Baron?
- 43:13[SPEAKER_00]: boundary.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: They want to have their working with him on the boundary.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_00]: And people I've talked with is that he's doing very well out there.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_00]: And that he is helping making, helping make the decision easier as to which corner to move on from.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was just about to ask is it going to be a jaconic millen or Riley Moss on the trademark and I'm with you, I think that Riley would be the one to which is unfortunate.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a big time Riley Moss fan.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, high quality football player that he's he's I mean, the you know it's high quality when the some of the conversations going out about what he can get on the free agent market are 22 plus millions.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: I can talk for who was I can't remember who it was.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was somebody for ESPN might have been the athletic.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_00]: They talked about it and they're like, Oh, one person one executive that I talked with talked about him at 2526 million on average for your bases.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, there's a very lot there's a lot of variables and played based on what he does this year.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: But that's still speaking very highly of Riley Moss and what's thought of him from other people in the NFL and that speaks highly, especially with how much cornerbacks gotten paid.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's tough to have to keep Riley Moss and Jake want to feel like and pay them and until your time having to give Batches Dint another new contract.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I don't disagree with you.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: We were talking about this last week.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, look at some of the cornerbacks that that Riley Moss would be going up against in terms of the Restricted free Asian market here.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: The last handful of contracts that had it out.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to run bland just got 22 and a half.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: AJ to Real just got 20 and a half, Denzo Ward got 20 of a handful of years ago, Marlon Humphrey, 19 and a half, a lot of Taylor just signed a deal with the Titans at 19.3, Tyson Campbell, 19.1, Jalen Johnson, Pulse and the Devo, both of them over $18 million, like those are all players that Riley Moss is probably better than guys, like, and I want to say some of the money than that is I've talked about home-down discounts and they don't happen, they very, very, very rarely do they happen on the first contract.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_00]: This is Torel's second or third contract and he came out and one of the Falcons executives or coaches came out and said that he took less to stay in Atlanta.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_00]: And that he probably could have gotten two or three million more on average per basis if he didn't.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_00]: If he pushed for, you know, the max contract.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_00]: So that is you talking about that.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: I do think Riley Moss is at worst on the same tier as AJ Torel.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: So you're, again, that's pointing right to that 232425 million on average per
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and Paul's in a deeper was a guy that I wanted the Broncos assign a couple years ago after he broke his fever playing with the Saints.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was a big reason why I thought that he was going to be kind of that lower market free agent a couple of years ago.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like the Broncos needs to jump all over that.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's a high quality second corner back.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't know what Riley Moss was and then he took that massive step forward last season.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like two years ago, Paul's in a deeper on that market.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's that's intriguing to me.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: Get him on a veteran free agent deal off the injury.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's just ridiculous.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: Then he had a great year with a giant, man, like quality football player.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: Moss is better than him.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: I do believe that Riley Moss is a better football player than Paul Sebel is in hindsight, coming out of that this last year, but $24 million for your corner back, too.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's not feasible, which is why we are having that conversation last week.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I wish we could have finished it.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: with the Marvin Mim situation, talking about the trade with Marvin Mim's, Riley Moss, another player that, depending on what the, the market looks like with him, he very well could be the odd man out on this Broncos corner back room.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, Mike Ronquillo, jumping in saying here, asking, is Cornerback the best room on the Broncos defense?
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: It might be the best room on the entire team.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: If we're being honest here, it could very will be the best room in the entire team.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's how good this room is.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: I would say yes, not only is it the best on the defensive, it's the best on the team.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Is that a wide receiver, I think?
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: Why are we, why are we, why are we going to stack?
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's insane.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think it, why are we going to keep it real good?
- 47:14[SPEAKER_00]: So much projection.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: Mike, who would you have next edge?
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, I probably go corner wide receiver.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I think there's a very clear, except that I probably have edge after wide receiver.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, I think there's a very clear one and then two and three could possibly get backwards.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we could do that for a show, ranking the Broncos position groups.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, look at that.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're coming on to the fly.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_00]: But safety to finish it up.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: Chad only has four.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know who fun.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: Good Brandon Jones, seven key, Tyson Anderson.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_00]: Tyson Anderson, not Tyson, as Nick likes to say.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think they keep five.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think they go with the five and five corner back safety split, 10 defense event, total, and JL Skinner finds a way, special teams play, especially with what Denver has done over the last few years with safety.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_00]: They're number three safety doesn't play a lot of special teams.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_00]: And they're number four and number five are their key are two key special teams players.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I would expect, unless they change from that, which would be very surprising as they don't have the coaching
- 48:26[SPEAKER_00]: would expect Devin key to not play a lot of special teams.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_00]: Still play some, not a whole lot, not being a core guy, a core four, but Tyson Anderson and Jail Skinner, trying to step in and do that.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_00]: Tyson Anderson was a very capable, special player in Cincinnati.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_00]: Jail Skinner was quite good for Denver last year to where if the only did keep four,
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think that Jail Skinner would be the guy over Anderson, I don't think Skinner was awesome as Jason Bonnie said he was good quality, I should say.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_00]: But it was still a little bit better than what Tyson Anderson brought.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and this I believe is here for Jail Skinner.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: So he's on the last year of his rookie deal.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: So salary capital implications are not necessarily very big with him as a fifth round pick.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: But if you did want to get even just a modicum, I mean, it's a couple hundred thousand dollars cheaper.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: You still have miles Scott as your sixth round pick that you could potentially bring in and go in that direction.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: But would they move on from Tyson Anderson to over Jail Skinner just to keep that room younger?
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how old Tyson Anderson is off the top of my
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: interesting.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully I don't freeze on my computer.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's 27.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: 27.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it really doesn't matter.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean 27's not overly aged out in the NFL and for a safety, if he's going to be a special team's player, then it doesn't really matter that particular point, but you want to save a little bit of money there.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: Myel Scott's there.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a lot of hope for Scott to make this roster.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think he is more likely a practice wide candidate as a former wide receiver that moved to safety at Illinois and so it's a long way to grow in terms of playing the safety position in general, but.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: You need a he seeking missile.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: The highlights that I have seen that dude knows how to attack the football coming down hill like it's it's fun to watch for sure But it's it's a long ways from being a reliable player.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: You can throw out there and again if you're if you're keeping a fifth safety I've said it now four different times on the show that fifth safety is probably a player that's not wearing a jersey on Sundays unless there's no No, I don't wear jersey on Sundays.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think you fifth safety.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, okay, interesting
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: just based off of what Denver's done previously last year all five safety's all that's for everything that ain't that's right because they have their top three there are two starters and they're third one and then they have their test playing special teams you're right that's that's a good call thanks for correcting me on that when I didn't even think about that that's that's a great call great call
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's, when you think about it, there's only seven players that don't get that aren't active on it.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's typically with Denver.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_00]: It is typically they're a wider receiver, a tight end.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_00]: Depending on and depends on columns, a defensive lineman, an edge.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: A third quarterback, if depending on what happens there with the columns, like,
- 51:15[SPEAKER_00]: But pretty constant even cornerback like that that there were a couple times where that fifth or six corner wasn't active, but safety pretty constantly and I could actually pull it up and double check.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there was ever a game last year where they didn't have five.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_01]: safety position in general is a core special team's player like no matter who it is like it so everyone talks about like the punt return and punt coverage like you're not seeing offensive linemen out there.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: You're seeing tight ends linebackers safety is in cornerbacks for the most part.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: Why are receivers running backs like the smaller players like that?
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: But safety is linebackers and tight ends are really like the core special teams unit players except for like obviously field goal block and stuff like that You get the big ugly's out there, but for the most part like you need to have a a plethora of those types of players speedy, shifty Yes, I'm looking I'm looking over it
- 52:10[SPEAKER_00]: There were two games where they didn't have five active safeties, and it was both because of injury.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_00]: It was the AFC championship game.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_00]: Jail Skinner was out because he wasn't.
- 52:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was a little bit beat up in that one.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_00]: And then the other one was week nine.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_00]: Where PJ Lock was out because of him suffering a little bit of getting a little bit of being done.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a really good point.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: And well, you'd mentioned this before, I believe, and maybe you've been said a couple minutes ago, more often than not teams are going to 10 defensive backs, whether it's six cornerbacks in four safeties, or five corners in five safeties, like you're typically going to have 10 defensive backs on the roster.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: And again, it's special to use versatility.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's depth in general, having extra players, you know, it's never hurts to have those types of players, corner safeties, lineback, or sightings, like you're going to have those guys on the roster,
- 53:08[SPEAKER_01]: that to have a fifth safety, you're typically losing a corner and hopefully you have a player at safety and corner that can be kind of an interchangeable piece to do, like where multiple hats within your defense if you need them to be there, but they're going to be a core specialties player to begin with.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, that's kind of what I should a bear and was for Denver last year.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but anyways, I don't think we need to cover the specialists.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_00]: No, there's no there's there's no competition with for well, lots, no competition for Jeremy Krasha.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I doubt Luke Paso beats out Mitchell for Brownie for the long sappers bot.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a chance that's always a position where as long as it's adequate enough, you can always cut costs.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_00]: Um, just Bonnie asked and who's up first of Jones or Fungum is time.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_00]: It depends.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're two very different roles.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that, you know, I think Devon Key for Brennan Jones and then Skinner Anderson for Hufanga, depending on the pecking water and how that gets out.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: But that's going to have to do it for us tonight on Devality Divers.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_00]: But trickles on, I will be live tomorrow at 12 Mountain, New Mountain Time.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to be talking about some changes Davis web could be could be or will be bringing to this offense and it's still Sean patents offense, but he's kind of hinted and there's been some comments about some of the changes that are coming in that I think are worth diving into so we will be getting into that tomorrow on the trickle zone.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_00]: But that is, again, going to have to do it for us tonight.
